Sure, let’s start:

1) Revenant has no way to negate being focused. Even with the current support trait lines, you die instantly to focus fire.

2) Everything is super slow and has a big wind-up. Getting a skill off without being interrupted is a miracle. You’re currently forced into builds with stability since you won’t even be able to heal yourself without it.

3) Damage and condi application are way too low. The only way to defeat someone is to put their condis back on them — something that’s very unreliable due to the short range.

4) There’s no synergy between trait lines. With every other class, you can pick any 3 trait lines and they will have synergy. Revenant needs a big rework to create synergy and actual builds.

5) Revenant mobility is also non-existent. Keeping someone in a fight, or running from a fight is just not going to happen. Revenant needs a CC/snare, pull, or more reliable teleport. The only way to follow someone is axe #4 which misses too often.

You’ve basically just described Necro..

Overall i find both power and condi stronger, however all other classes are stronger as well.

Particularly liking terrormancer, however plague and consume condition changes suck big time.

Overall i think damage is far too high with this new patch. WvW battles are lasting seconds instead of minutes – it’s not good for the game.

Another massive shove from Anet to try and pigeonhole players into playing one or if your lucky, two toons.

I have around 30 level 80 toons, probably use ten of them on a fairly regular basis.

So that’s between 650 and 1950 times I need to hunt around pve maps doing stuff I don’t want to do to unlock build variance on my characters and have a chance at making either my existing build or a new one (as many builds are killed off by the new trait system/wvw changes).

Not to mention probably needing different armor sets on quite a few of them.

I’m glad this isn’t a grindy Korean MMO, I’d hate to see what they did then….

The more I read of this expansion the less enthusiastic I am about it. But I’ll probably still buy it, for whenever I come back to the game more regularly.

Simply, minion/pet do not proc sigil and rune effect. It would be absolutely OP otherwise.

why do siphons not heal us in DS?

Hopefully this issue will be addressed in the next update.

Why do we have no infinitely scaling defensive mechanics?

DS defensives capacities are difficult to balance. One can argue that using spectral armor/DS/locust swarm provide a very good defense.

Why do we have barely any pulls?

I can see 2 pull skills on the necromancer. (I didn’t say they were userfriendly skills)

why did they make the elite specialization center on chill?

Because the flavor fit their idea of the necromancer.

Why did they “nerf” impairing movement condition?

Well, chill also enhance cool down duration which can already be viewed as a huge effect on almost all movement skills (thieves does not count). Beside, they most likely do these changes to stop exploit with movement buff like swiftness and super speed. things that could probably ruin a part of the futur content of the game.

Necro flavour…. you can’t have anything nice because of flavour and reasons. Necro is not allowed scaling defence, mobility/disengage because of flavour, but everyone else gets reasonable access to it.. at least it looks like their improving the stability in the upcoming patch.

Guardian has no good long range weapon? Fixed. Even though Scepter/Torch is better than any long ranger power weapon the Necro has….

Mesmer has no AoE for Zerg fights? Fixed.

Necro has no mobility, give chill and then nerf before released.

I don’t trust A-net to make adequate changes that put us on par with other professions.

This is why it would be nice if axe was 900 range. Then you could run scepter, axe or staff, and your range weapon could fill the role of either condition, power or soft cc/support.

That would be nice.

I’m still perplexed by the proposed nerfs to Axe Training – wondering what their justification is for these changes – perhaps they are increasing the range and thought it warranted a nerf to Axe Training to compensate.

This weapon could use some work overall to make it more effective.

- skill 3 is good
- skill 2 is good as long as your opponent has no endurance left and can’t dodge the channel
- skill 1 is bad

600 range is bad.

Fire good. Napster bad.

Shout Cast-times

While they are all shouts, ours have very strong direct effect on the enemy, making them instant cast would be blatantly OP.

Now I’d certainly agree that certain shouts need to have their cast times adjusted, but instant cast will never happen.

Disagree. They are not strong -they are mediocre imo, some even plain bad.

Would take the Guardian shouts in a heartbeat over these.

One of the devs mentioned this when they nerfed the Deathshoud overflow mechanic – they said they are aware of the ability to use S-walk for this purpose and they have no issue with it.

Shouts seem to be pretty ordinary across the board.

The next aim should be to improve them considerably and remove the cast times – they should be instant cast – to my mind, they are worse than the Warrior and Guardian shouts and yet those appear to be instant. This does not compute.

Weapon skills and Deathshroud skills look pretty good – the Deathshroud dash skill could be improved (extended and/or sped up a little).

The “huge” damage that A-net claimed was the reason for our slow moving weapon swings really wansn’t evident in any of the video that I’ve seen.

In fact, If you compare the video footage of the Necro GS damage on target golems versus the Guardian Longbow DPS on target golumns, the Guardian is putting out much higher numbers – they are possibly/probably using different gear, but i still don’t buy these huge DPS numbers and if they do exist then I’m sure a nerf is around the corner without any subsequent adjustments in our favour (hellooo Dhummfire).

A-net are overselling the whole “chill” component – anyone who wants to get away from a Necro will still be able to using their teleport/mobility skills. Chill will probably just be another inconvenience.

Necro still lacks a good ranged damage weapon – It would have been great if this could be addressed.

Blood Magic changes are welcome, but they are only the tip of the iceberg when looking at our existing traits and utilities. I hope our existing profession is given some consideration before the release of the X-pac.

Still trying to figure out why Axe Training is being nerfed and why some of the other changes are going through – they have been brought up a hundred times by a hundred different people.

They should all just be instant cast… they are mediocre at best and Necro already suffers from ridiculous cast times on everything except Doom, so just make these instant already.

As mentioned above, why would i take any of these over existing utilities – they just don’t measure up.

elite’s cast time of 2s effectively means it stuns you just as long as any enemies – and they can avoid it/stun break anyway.

Why would I use the shout over lich in a power build?

Wow, I didn’t even realise that.

I remember in the live stream he said that our shouts were given cast times because of how powerful they were.

Does anyone honestly believe any of these are better than Stand Your Ground or Hold the Line – they are all instant-cast shouts and yet we need to have a cast time on our shout which casts kittening vulnerability (which we already have in abundance on some builds).

Too early to judge really, but Necromancer players have every right to be worried given the track-record of class changes. I can see this all failing miserably.

Swapped from Necro to Guard about 6 months ago… Guard is so much better it isn’t even funny…

Swapped back to the Necro tonight for a few hours of WvW… still does some good damage, but once you’re locked you’re completely screwed.. needs to be looked at imo

Same issue here from time to time… it’s the constant resetting until Lifeforce is empty that kills you – they need to remove the combo field on pistol 5 that allows stealth every few seconds

Yeah, the lack of variety is what gets me.

Necro is not a bad class by any stretch, but has 2 builds that really have not changed much in years.

On my 2 Guardians I’m always swapping around traits and skills and working on different things – I couldn’t tell you the last time i felt the need to experiment on my power or condi Necro.

The lack of combo fields and finishers is also noticeable.

While I agree that the Blood Magic line needs a big rework, I have to say that making the life leeching traits heal you in death shroud is a bit too much at their current rate. At the same time, the healing they do at their current state is simply not worth sacrificing points that could go in other areas into blood magic.

The healing from blood magic is pathetic at best… i don’t see how it would be a bit much.

Heres how to make necro balanced:

nerf nightmare runes
nerf reapers protection
nerf corrupt boons
nerf staff 5

that way they can’t just faceroll their keyboards and win all the time. Its still disgusting that when playing an engineer that they can auto win most of the time. Mesmers got what they wanted with the thief nerfs, now its our turn for the necro nerfs.

That would ruin the terror spec completely, leaving only power necro as the viable option.

Necros are target no. 1 – this is probably the issue – the other team are deliberately focussing you down first.

Having 2+ people on you as a Necro is not going to end well unless you’re extremely skilled or they are terribad. Other classes are a little more forgiving in battles against 2 or more foes.

I’m from TC, and after getting stomped by BG last week I’ll admit that part of me is kind of glad that we have an “easy” week. Still, I can understand the frustration of the under-strength servers.

I wonder… Would the servers actually welcome an unofficial strategy of the two weaker servers automatically teaming up to fight the bigger one? JQ and TC did this last season against BG, to great effect. Looking at the scores this season, I think that many of the servers are actually at a place where the two weaker servers, when combined, would have the numbers and coverage to effectively compete against the bigger one.

Axe 2 is still so easily avoidable by opposing players – once it starts spooling they’ll dodge negating about half the damage – this is the issue i have with Axe, even though i have been using it since beta.

Well maybe we should get rid of warriors 1000 blades, guardians hammer knockback, mesmers multiple ghosts and fears oh and I don’t like engi’s turrets. Everyone loved the ranger when they were weak but now that they have a bit more power everyone wants to hate them. A good player can counter a ranger’s PBS or rapid fire. In my very humble opinion I think GW2 is one of the most balanced MMO’s on the market. It’s the players, not the class that make the difference. If you are getting wasted by rangers then look in the mirror, that’s the person you need to blame. I play a ranger and a guardian in spvp and have equal success with both. At the end of each match I am the first to say good game to all even if I got my face pummeled the entire time. I don’t cry in map chat about OP rangers. If you hate PBS, rapid fire and the like, you can PVE

no lets give it the necro treatment like they have done to all our skills it needs a cast time increase to something humanly possible to see like a 1 second cast time with a nice big animation so we can interrupt it and keep our 2 dodges, then after that it requires a cool down increase so its not always up when you need it. that will just about do it.

So you want the longbow’s only interrupt and gap maker to have a one second cast time?

You basically just want to remove the weapon entirely, don’t you?

I mean, on my Guardian it’s like being a kid in a candy store – always swapping and changing stuff around, but my 2 Necro builds have barely changed since i made them – it gets stale after a while.

Also, i think the profession mechanic works against us so much of the time. Once you’re in DS you have no access to stuns or condition clears and you just get stun-locked or chain immobilised and then you die.

I believe Necro is in a pretty good place right now from a WvW perspective – I still take both my Necros out on a regular basis and do quite well – especially with the well/zerk Necro in zerg battles.

The class is still fun to play, however it requires substantially more work than most of my other toons – they are much more forgiving classes due to the mitigation or sustain mechanics available to them.

The last patch was a bit hit and miss as far as I’m concerned – not as bad as many people are saying, but there could have been so many more improvements, such as;

- Terribad traits
- Long-term bugs
- Life siphoning
- Signet of Vampirism
- Minion improvements – I realise this falls into the category of overall pet mechanic improvements but at least with the Ranger you can hit F1 and the pet always attacks. At least Mesmer phantasms always attack. Necro seems to be the only class where the pet/minion stands around watching Lady Bugs.

Playing Mediation Guardian extensively over the last few weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of cutting down a heap of Necros – quite easy for the Mediation Guardian imo.

I’ve been giving some thought to Necro issues and how to make them more sustainable in WvW (and PvP, though I have never tried this game mode).

A number of people have brought up improvements to siphoning and siphoning working in DS – I think these are all reasonable suggestions, but I’ve noticed a trend that seems to happen every time we cut down an opposition Necro and feast on their salty tears.

Necro is especially vulnerable to focus fire – more so than any profession that I have played.

I think the main culprit is Deathshroud – it add some extra health, but while in this form the Necro’s options for survival are extremely limited – I think this limitation is holding us back somewhat.

When a Necro is in a pressure situation, being focussed by multiple enemies they will enter Deathshroud – the funny thing about DS is that there are no stun-breaks or condition clears available to us when we are using our class mechanic.

I’ve been seeing this time and time and time again – practically every Necro death follows the same pattern:

1. Necro starts to get focussed by enemies
2. Necro goes into Deathshroud
2. Necro gets Immobilised or Stun-Locked
3. Necro cannot move
4. Necro dies

What if our utilities 6 – 8 where available while in Deathshroud – this would give us access to stun-breaks and condition clears that would allow us a chance at getting off the Ping-Pong table. There is potential for this to be unbalanced – I realise this.

Perhaps a new Deathshroud skill “5” that was a condition clear and a stun-break or a “5” and “6” skill for each ability.

Just a thought – tossing some ideas out there.

They probably just don’t play/understand the class given they are all playing warrior.

Still, you have to wonder why they don’t refer to the forums for a little feedback.

Many useless traits/skill could have been brought up to par.
