Ele and Engi weapon swap OOC

Also keep in mind that the OP is referring to weapon swaps outside of combat.

…but that already exists, and every class has it. It’s called the Hero Panel. There is literally nothing stopping Elementalists or Engineers from switching weapons out of combat.

The OP’s request is redundant bordering on nonsensical.

They’re calling for the ability to do that out of combat the same way that other classes can do out of combat. They don’t want to have to go through the menu. Think about if Anet disabled the weapon swap key while out of combat. How would you feel by having to go into the hero menu?

I’m not arguing for or against it but you have to see where they’re coming from.

Please give 1 example where it’s actually faster and more efficient to stack a boss in a corner. The stacking in a corner meta was fixed when we stopped taking 3 warriors and FGS was nerfed.

Golems in SE P1 and CoE all paths. Subject Alpha otherwise he moves around (backs up until pinned against something). Also easier to dodge forward into the wall to prevent him from moving.

Litearlly no group worth their salt stacks in the corner for the SE1 golems.

And same goes for Alpha.

Alpha fun fact – Did you know he’s actually more dangerous to stack in the corner for alpha? His stone tooth skill is a targetted cone, when you all cuddle in front of him you all can tank the damage.

And if you can dodge through alpha to keep him more or less locked into the spot where he spawns.

Both just really, really poor examples of where it’s better, becasue it isn’t.

It’s more efficient to cleave/burst them all at once that one by one. It’s been awhile since I’ve run dungeons but I vaguely remember at least one of the golems being ranged. You corner stack to ball them up.

I’ve been in groups which have someone who dodges backwards and occasionally messes things up with an ill-timed crystal prison thing or he moves after them. I’ve also fought Subject Alpha with everyone stacked on him in melee but he keeps moving around. The cone earth attack if his really isn’t an issue.

Also keep in mind that I’m not saying it’s the best thing to do blindly for every single encounter in the dungeons.

You can mesmer pull or have a guard pull them all together and burst them on the spot so easily there is no real excuse for the corner stack what so ever.

And Alpha, you can burst him almost to 0 so easily him running around like a chicken should almost never happen at all.

When you mention these stack spots are you talking about pugging or running with people who, to be blunt, aren’t bad? Because I guess I can see these being a bit useful for really badly optimised groups with pitiful dps or for low skill players.

But yeah in general real no excuse what so ever. Like pretty much every stack spot is a remnent of a time long ago, and the sad thing is I willing to bet 99% of pug players or guilds who use the pug stack spots have literally no idea why they do it.

I know that they can. And if your group doesn’t have either of the two or they don’t know how? I know Mesmer it’s much easier to mess up the pull to group them.

In high DPS groups you can burst down Alpha in a matter of seconds but those are very rare to find in pugs. I’m referring to things in pug groups as they’re very different than high coordinated speed clear groups. i’ve found the few spots to be very effective rather than relying on someone to pull them together and have them mess it up.

I probably should have been more specific in my posts.

Oh, so the game should be balanced around what strats ignorant pugs who barely know how to play and don’t have a clue what they are doing use.

Makes sense.

I’m not calling for that.

I said faster and more efficient. Not safer. There is zero point in stacking for any of those fights.

So balling up the golems to burst them down at the same time is not faster or more effective to not doing so? I recall at least one of the golems being ranged.

As I said in a previous post, I’m not for stacking at every single encounter in dungeons.

I personally have no issue for anything that increases the effectiveness of not stacking and/or using ranged attacks so long as it doesn’t come at the cost of existing methods. For most bosses, there’s really no reason to stack anyway. For trash, I only see doing that to LOS them to pull ranged mobs closer if your group doesn’t have people that can do that.

If you want to play a certain way (no stacking and ranged combat) then create a group specifically for it. Do not force players to play the way that you think that they should. Yes, suggesting ways to nerf techniques that you do not like is doing just that.

Of course you can still ask for it. You just have to realize that they will not add it because it creates an imbalance. The closest you’d get would be one for if you were out of combat.

Change in Map completion rewards?

These characters had between 10% and 30% map completion when I started them so the scenario Inculpatus mentioned wouldn’t apply, and what brought it to my attention was the total lack of any “wiggle chest” when I reached 100% I could understand 1 chest as an anomaly but 3 consecutive toons through the same zone made me think they may have changed the method and type of reward they are giving.

Could you add the bolded part of this to your first post as many people will likely miss this post.

EDIT: Gaile mentioned in an older post that some skill points require you to consume an item. If done out of map, you may not get map rewards. This was from early 2014.

To counter the problem of whispering, just right click the person you want to whisper. Or select the person in your contact list to whisper.

And if they’re not in the same map or on screen? What if you have multiple people with the same name in your contact list or in your guild? How confusing do you think it will be when you have 2+ people with the same name in chat?

And what about the party menu where you add the name to join or invite a player?

How would you message the correct person in game?

This, I don’t want to have to find someone’s hidden number to send a whisper.

You can still whisper them by using the acc name with numbers instead of the character name.

So now people are inconvenienced by having to find the account name and type it out with the numbers so a small percentage of players can have the same in-game name?

Buying digital copy of core game only

You can buy the core game for a little under $23 (or 18 euros) on Amazon. If they did sell it in the game store, you’d see a similar price. It’s about the same price you’d expect to pay for games years after their initial release. I don’t really see an issue unless you were set on a digital copy only.

What difference does it make if he talks about dollars and i talk about euros? GW2 cost me just as much as HoT will, not including the extra 10euros for the char slot.

And i already said i dont care that a char slot is a prepurchase bonus. Besides that the game should be a good deal without prepurchase goodies, i do not plan to prepurchase a game for which so much info is still not disclosed. To just spend 45euros on good faith now and hope that its worth it so i save the 10euros for a char slot.

Also you will lose that bet, i dont blindly buy into hype for games at all. I do my homework before i buy a game, read or watch reviews, watch streams, published information, that sort of thing. Unlike many of the people who prepurchased HoT and didnt even so much as read the FAQ, as was made apparent when people thought every beta event ever was a Beta Weekend Event.

Because he was referring to the dollar metric which is not the same as euro. From what I remember, there’s an additional tax in Europe which adds to the cost.

You can pre-purchase the expansion the day before its release when you have all of the information to make a decision for yourself. Did you not see that part of my post? The game is a pretty good deal to many as they have already pre-purchased it. What you’re doing, although in no way wrong, is doing the same decision process that someone would do when buying a car or a home. You’re in the minority for this one as not many players would do that for a game.

HoT is atm $10 less than GW2 was when it released.

This isnt true at all. I got GW2 from the store for 45euros. HoT however i cannot find for a cheaper price at stores because they dont carry it, the number of resellers for HoT is considerably less then GW2.

So they both cost me 45euros.

But wait! To enjoy the content like Revenant i need to get a character slot as well, thats another 10euros. So that ends up making HoT more expensive than GW2 was.

And i dont care that if i prepurchase i get a free slot, because i dont want to gamble 45euros on the off chance i really end up wanting HoT. The product itself should be attractive enough, and not base its value on prepurchase bonuses.

He’s talking about dollars and not euros. What he stated was true. At release, GW2 was $60.

You get a free character slot between now and when the expansion is released. It’s not a gamble as you’ll have all of the information you need within the final week leading to its release. I’m also willing to bet that you’ll have more information for the expansion than you had when you purchased other games.

You cant say “No Subscription fee!” but then say “But if we add new content you have to pay us money or be suspended from all forms of game play”

Well good thing nobody is buying the core game when they pre-purchase the expansion.

The games free to play, you don’t pay a Sub fee each month like you do with FFXIV or WoW.

People should stop comparing GW2 with those games, GW2 should be comparedwith GW1. The full prices on GW1 games were only for stand-alone games while the expansion (eye of the north) was a lot cheaper whilst still giving almost a full game.

Right now, it’s current pricing should give us almost the same as a stand alone should. This is why so many people aren’t prepurchasing yet. You don’t have enough info if the expansion is worth it’s price. Might be even better to just wait it out ’til the price drops.

Except FFXI and WoW (recent expansions) are more comparable than games from 9 years ago.

Suffice it to say they did not at any point in time put a price on HoT independently from their decision about pricing core game. That is not how businesses (any businesses) do pricing. Please drop your attitude.

Or they actually priced HoT separately. Projections were then ran for just the core game on whether they would have more sales from new players if it were included free rather than separately.

It may be for economic reasons.

If it was for economic reasons they wouldn’t allow us to recover upgrades easily with the old transmute system. The problem with badge/karma armor started with the wardrobe update, there was no problem before it so it can’t be for anything related to the economy.

What happens when people with excess badges and karma can salvage armor bought with them directly? How many more mats will enter the market? Inscription/insignia prices, such as for berserker, would fall dramatically.

What if you don’t get mats for salvaging them? WvW items only give back the upgrade slot on them, karma gives you the rune with the Account Bound text.

That would change the function of existing salvage kits. What you really want is for Anet to provide the upgrade extractor in game (for a cheaper price) rather than through the gem store. This was have implications.

It may be for economic reasons.

The topic is about recovering updates from karma/badge gear the same way you could before the wardrobe system was implemented. If they don’t want a direct karma/badge -> gold conversion they can simply make karma/badge gear not salvageable and just give players a way to get the upgrades and only them. Honestly I don’t think this has any kind of effect on the economy other than make karma/badge gear useless.

The only people who buy karma/badge gear now are those who don’t know you can’t get upgrades from them then come on the forum and post about it. Allowing upgrades to be retained from karma/badge gear will have a minimal (if any) effect on the rune/sigil economy because players that know they aren’t salvageable don’t use this type of gear anyway.

On the other hand it might make badges and even karma more valuable and important than something to gather.

A lot of these discussions have turned towards salvage kits being used in the past. Since salvage kits are not specific on what you remove, unlike GW1, using them would net the player mats, insignia/inscription, and UC. I addressed the first two as I had seen Wanze already posted about UC’s.

Honestly, I wouldn’t care much if a cheaper way to get back UC’s existed so long as it doesn’t cost less that 5G per UC removed.

You keep talking about the three game types and as if they should all be separate and isolated. We don’t have a daily (the overall daily, not the individual achievements) for PvP, WvW, and PvE; we have one for the entire game. This was what I was saying that you were not getting as you kept referring to PvE in all of your arguments.

I get it that you’re a PvE-only player and prefer to play only that. Unfortunately this restricts you to four achievements by your own choice. You don’t need daily achievements to reward you for playing what you find fun. If you do need daily achievements for this, then I would seriously think about whether what you find fun is actually fun.

So the other game modes should get a daily for the play they find fun, but pve should not?

just making sure of your position.

No. That’s mixing part of what he said with mine. The other modes have simpler daily achievements because the modes are small which leads to less variation in achievements. There’s only so many things that Anet can have you do.

I’m still trying to figure out what metric you are using to determine what is and isn’t acceptable. If something let’s you bypass the risk and Anet is cool with it by virtue of doing nothing to stop it when they very easily could, then it’s kosher.

Hell, you used to be able to stand on top of the Overseer’s office/control room w/e and shoot at the golem with no risk at all then they updated it so that the knockback aoe also reaches up there.

They didn’t put an invisible wall or adjust the geometry to prevent climbing up there when they easily could have. They simply made it so you couldn’t AFK with a longbow ranger up there anymore despite still being well out of the way of the damaging ground aoe’s.

I’m sorry but inaction is not permission. I would definitely take that to heart in the real world as there are many situations where you will get in a lot of trouble if you believe otherwise. If you want to find out the metric I used then refer to their posts on what they consider an exploit. Or you can just look at the wiki.

With that said, let’s drop this talk about the subject and go back to the discussion about people being disappointed with the recent beta test.

It’s nonsensical because you don’t understand that a game consists of more than a single game type and that perhaps Anet is treating it as such. I see no point in continuing to argue with you about this point as you have not understood it so far and likely will not in subsequent posts.

Ah, at last the ad hominem attack. That’s always a sign that people have no other counter to an argument.

I will make a comment regarding this.

It’s not an ad hominem attack.

And now I’m done.

They’ve given no hint of any intention to give free transfers though. Or at least none that I have seen.

2 of the SW sub-bosses can be killed by just standing in the right spot and 1-1-1-1-1’ing them from range.

Hell, all three VW fights literally are “stand in spot X to completely negate the bosses’ special attack.”

I really hope those spots you mention above are intended mechanics and not like standing on the box at Golem or standing to the side of the cliff and Jormag.

What do you define as “intended mechanics”?

Last I checked, the only thing they intend for us to do is to burn them down with deeps before the timer runs out.

If Anet chooses not to fix exploits that are caused by the simple misplacement of environment assets, that’s their choice.

Essentially exploits although the Jormag case technically isn’t one. You cannot claim something poses no challenge simply because you can take advantage of an exploit to remove such challenge.

I certainly didn’t list just the Golem and your lying to yourself if you think that’s the only world boss that requires little to no movement or thought to beat.

Mega Destroyer is in the exact same zone with similar lvl requirements and also involves standing in one spot and auto attacking with a ranged weapon largely out of harm’s way. Is it an exploit to stand on the rock tips with so many allies around me I often don’t get tallied into the AoE limit from fireballs?

I never said that you did. In fact, it was pretty clear that I was the one who listed it. It’s not about beating a boss that requires little to no movement to beat. It’s about positioning yourself in such a way that you bypass the mechanics resulting in a riskless fight.

But then you probably don’t see the difference and think they’re acceptable because after all:

If Anet chooses not to fix exploits that are caused by the simple misplacement of environment assets, that’s their choice.

Clearly this makes it acceptable…
