in game boss timer?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ayrilana.1396

Ayrilana.1396

Why would you need a timer if you know exactly when every boss spawns? (I’m assuming you mean world bosses)

Are you saying you have them memorized and without looking you know which is on right now and which ones are after each? That’s pretty good! Unfortunately I don’t have them memorized like that, I find a timer most useful to know where to go to begin a boss chain or what time a particular one is on, such as a daily boss.

I’m not against there being a way in game to see the schedule whether it be in the UI or through an NPC.

With that said, you don’t have to memorize every single spawn time during a 24 hour period that a world boss spawns at. All you need to know is their frequency and have a reference point. That’s how I memorized them fairly quickly even though I don’t really farm them anymore.

Question to Devs about Ascended armors

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Ayrilana.1396

Don’t get mad, i stopped playing a bit after the ascended armor were introduced (the forced crafting was part of the reason).

I am asking to know if i should come back or not, i am not requesting something.

(WvW only player FYI)

Ascended gear can drop from killing players in WvW and possibly in reward chests. Also, there is a way to put a piece of ascended armor, 5 globs of ectoplasm, an exotic insignia with the stats you want, and a Mystic Coin (I think?) into the Mystic Forge and you can convert ascended armor stats.

If you pull a Nomad’s Ascended gear piece, you can convert it to Berserker for not much more than 10g, but likely less if you have any mats sitting around already.

Also, it really isn’t necessary. The stats are a mere +5% on exotics, so skill will still be the deciding factor in most all fights.

You were close with the recipe.

Is it possible for someone to explain what “Light Adaptation” actually does? I have played around with it, but from my point of view all it does is lessen the contrast, and then not even always.

I haven’t tested it but maybe it’s the camera adapting when you go between various light sources and/or the lack of? Kind of like what you’d see when coming out of a dark cave. Or coming out of the movie theater on a bright day.

Would I be able to buy HoT expansion from a retail store like BestBuy and still redeem the expansion with my account or will I have to only purchase it via Anet?

I apologize if this has been answered previously, but I couldn’t find the answer.

There is for the HoT expansion.

It has to do with how people bought the game when the expansion was announced and not expecting the core game to be included as a free bonus later on.

Nothing is free if you have to pay to get it. People who make products ALWAYS have had to offer consumers some value to make a sale.

Simple fact is enough people really felt the package they were offering wasnt worth 50 dollars, that anet thought it would be to their advantage to sweeten the deal.

Dont get mad at consumers for deciding what they feel something is worth, or get disappointed by a company changing a stance because its in their own best interest.

Of course not since the core game being free is dependent the purchase of the HoT expansion and then applied to the new account. It is still free when taking into account the purchase of HoT for $50 which is required of every player that plays the expansion. I guess I don’t see what your point is.

Not all details have been released about the expansion. Probably the primary argument against the expansion when it’s price was announced was that it did not include a free character slot. You may have noticed that things simply died down more or less once they announced the pre-purchase bonus and clarified a few things.

I’ve already stated numerous times that it’s up to players to decide if the expansion is worth it to them at this time so I’m not mad at all. What I have been arguing against is a lot of what’s being used as the reasoning. One person tried to compared GW1 EotN to HoT. They even listed something like 18 dungeons in EotN and none in the HoT expansion. If EotN has 18 dungeons then GW2 was released with 33 dungeons. Season 1 then added 12 more dungeons (with one of the original being removed) plus two that were temporary. Probably one of the primary things I’ve been vocal against is the cost of the core game being part of the expansion price.

You keep talking about the price, which is irrelevant to my problem. It seems you compare New vs Vet Player. But if you’ve bought the game and played gw2 for e.g. 2-3 years by now, you can’t undo that. The situation of the new and old players is different. Unless HoT offer changes (again), there is hardly a reason to discuss that. No, what I was talking about is the options current players have at the moment they buy HoT. You only buy HoT once (for now) but you use it differently if you go with an account upgrade or activate a new account.

I’ll just answer this with a question:

If the core game was not included as a bonus to new accounts but sold for $10 instead, would everything you said in your post still be relevant and would you still insist that Anet follow though with what you suggested?

LOL, maybe I should draw a picture.

Upd: OMG, now you made me think more about it! If you have 2 accounts, you can upgrade every other account every time a new expansion is released. That sounds like a pretty good price-to-value strategy

Go with option #1. That appears to be the best option for you as it has more value (a subjective term) to you. In the end, this would probably make you happier which is what is important.

Given the exchange rate, in Australia, standard is $69, deluxe is $103 and ultimate is $137. That’s one hell of an expensive expansion, considering a full new release AAA title is $70-80 here and collectors editions usually come with soundtrack CDs, books, statuettes plus digital goods.

Even though I want to, I just can’t bring myself to spend that much on an expansion with an unknown amount of content. I paid $40 for the digital collectors of gw2 and I just don’t see HoT even close to doubling the amount of content (or adding a half, or a quarter or even a sixth as much).

I’m confused since you actually paid $60 for it.

I only started playing this morning and my fps was fine. Since the last patch, the game is unplayable for me, and I only just bought the thing…

Despite following instructions on the “Low fps” sticky, or even turning all my setting to lowest, I still only get 5-15fps.

To add insult to injury, the game dropped from $59.99 to $44.99 right after I bought the kitten thing and I can’t even play it! Extremely peeved at the moment, and would appreciate any help from anyone. From what I’ve read, it’s a pretty common problem atm.

Wow, you have a little too much time on your hands. Maybe I should dig through your post history for little scraps of misinformation that have no real bearing on the conversation… No wait, i have better things to do. I guess because I misremembered something from TWO YEARS ago, everything else in my post can be ignored. You should run for office or something. The spin doctor is in zzzzzzzzZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz.

My points stand. The game is too expensive, exchange rates make it ridiculously overpriced.

You have less than a page of posts. I probably spent a grand total of 30 seconds skimming through them.

I never said that your post should be ignored. I was just pointing it out as you posted high prices (due to the exchange rate) for the expansion and a very low price for what you paid for the core game. One thing that I did not mention was that the $60 you spent was around 12/15/2012 which is what it would have cost someone in the US to spend for the base edition.

Yes. The exchange rates will increase the costs for some compared to others. However, it’s an unfortunate and expected cost when purchasing outside of your country. The point of that post of mine was that it seemed you were trying to make to make the argument based on the differences in prices when they technically should be the same. Actually, you should have spent slightly more for the core game.

One thing that I have said several times in the past is that you cannot relate cost to value. For example, someone purchases the game when it was going for $25 last year. They should expect twice as much content from the expansion as the original? How about those that purchased the game for $10 this year and need to spend $40 more to get the expansion. Should they expect four times as much content as the core game?

I will not argue against whether you personally feel there isn’t enough value for what you’re paying. That is judgment decision that I cannot ever make as value is subjective. If the cost of the expansion is too high for you now, I suggest waiting until it goes on sale at a later date. Although you’ll miss the initial rush of players going through the expansion’s content, everything should be permanent so you’re not really missing anything.

However, if you insist to change the subject to discuss price reduction and overall game pricing policy, I’ll stay away from it. This was discussed over and over again. For all I care, base HoT could have larger price tag and still be sold successfully.

Which is exactly what we have now. Both new accounts and existing accounts can get the base HoT for $50. New accounts have the added bonus of getting the core game for free.

… You also do not repurchase the game. I don’t see how this is a difficult concept to grasp for some people. All that you’re having to buy is the expansion. …

Well, of course you re-purchase the game.

Once you buy HoT you have to make a decision: you either use it to make a new account with GW2+HoT on it or you upgrade an existing account with HoT and thus discard “core game for free” that came with it.

In both cases, regardless if you use your purchase to the full extent or trash “core” part of it, you did buy the right to have a full access to the game, even though you already had it.

You can blame ANet for the lack of transparency, or bad pricing model, but personally, my only concern here is the aforementioned decision. I believe it’s a significant amount of players who feel bad about discarding the “free core game” and that may hold HoT pre-purchase sales back.

It’s free for new accounts. It is in no way part of the price of the expansion.

They have changed the rules before when confronted with an argument. You can also walk through someones home instance as a group. The fact that multiple people can join the same home instance means that it is group content.

So because they’ve allegedly changed rules in the past this makes any of the current rules negligible? So if I post that I’m selling several precursor in my home instance, then that’s acceptable? After all, you can only walk into my instance if you’re in my group and that since multiple people can join a home instance then it must be group content.

My personal theory is that it originally led to the Tengu starter zone, before that race was scrapped. That area of the map already has 3 starter areas and two 15-25 areas all close together. imo it would be a logical place to put it.

You mean this? I think I saw this on reddit awhile back.

That’s the Temple of Tolerance Map from that_shaman’s 2014 very well executed April Fools joke. I’m pretty sure he had ANet help to do it.

http://thatshaman.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/rise-of-tengu-mini-expansion.html

Ha! First time that I’ve seen that. Thanks for sharing the link.

Where do you think it would be then?

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tengu
“When Zhaitan awoke in 1219 AE, in an event the tengu call the Great Tsunami, the tengu of the world saw it as a sign to return to Tyria. It was a descendant of Talon Silverwing that led the charge through Zhaitan’s risen forces, and when the tengu reached land, they built their Dominion atop the island once known as Sanctum Cay, and unified their clans into the four modern houses, one for each of the winds. Out of fear of a repeated past, they constructed a great wall to encircle their city, and non-tengu are not permitted to enter.”

It doesn’t say here or in the article about the city where the starter zone is located.

According to the lore, all of the tengu that were in Cantha were exiled and went to Tyria/Elona. When Orr rose, the tengu saw it has a sign to return to Tyria. They then built their dominion over what was Sanctum Clay. It’s fairly reasonable to assume that if there was going to be a tengu starter zone when the game was released, it would have been there. The city could have been anywhere in that section and for all we know, it could technically be above the map.

No. That picture shows the small, square area between Kessex and Lions Arch. That’s too small, imo, to be a starter zone. If you compare it to the other starter areas, it’s about one-third their size. The area I’m talking about is north of Brisbane, where there is a broken bridge leading to a portal.

I know but according to lore, there’s no way that north of Brisban would be the Tengu starting zone.

At the moment the value of the new account with HoT is incomparably bigger than HoT-upgrade for the existing account. This is a major disbalance in what current players get versus the new ones. For many people it’s big enough to delay the purchase of HoT till the price is reduced or more information makes HoT more attractive, I’m sure.

The people who are upset about the core game being included for free to new accounts would still be upset if the expansion price was $30. The people who are upset because the expansion is $50 would still be upset if new accounts did not get the core game for free.

At one point, the core game was going for $10. I believe that the final price, if you bought it separately settled for $20-25 depending on where you go. If labeled Anet as greedy if they only gave $20 in bonuses. You deemed $40 in bonuses to be fair. If you want to complain about value, how about complaining that new players can buy the core game for half the price that players did at launch? After all, they’re getting better value for the money that they spent.

GW2 stream of bi-weekly updates was suspended as of Jan 2015. People who bought GW2 on the terms of “pay-once, play forever” not only experienced over 6 month interruption of service, but also have to re-purchase the game now if they want to keep enjoying it in the future. Combined with extra-vague idea about HoT and no announcement about ANet commitment to content delivery schedule after HoT release, this adds to the “uncertainty” of what we actually buy. Is GW2 dead? Is it only GW2:HoT now?

This is what you normally see when games do expansions. Players wanted an expansion, as was seen by numerous threads that popped up last year when WoW announced theirs, so Anet gave players what they wanted. You also do not repurchase the game. I don’t see how this is a difficult concept to grasp for some people. All that you’re having to buy is the expansion.

Long-time players seem to upgrade to HoT not because the deal is great, but because they don’t want to be punished by losing hard-earned benefits of their existing accounts. On the other hand, there is player’s trust in ANet that makes them believe their money will be well-spent by the developers.

Players who do not pre-purchase are not losing hard-earned benefits. Everything in the expansion is permanent content. When they upgrade at a later date once the expansion price drops or goes on sale, they can catch up.

Many people have purchased games that had much less content summaries released. I also vaguely remember factions selling for $50 and much less information about it being released. Many people had pre-ordered it. Eye of the North sold for $40, with not much info as we’re seeing now released, and people still pre-ordered it.

No. That there is entitlement. It’s disappointing that it’s now expected that companies have to provide free bonuses with any of their products otherwise they’re labeled as greedy or out of touch.

Considering we’re paying more than the original game when it first came out…yeah, they kinda do owe us something. Though TBH, they need to just release an expansion only version to put all this crap to rest. They do that, the mob dies down because we can spend $20-30 to get the expansion alone and not the core game with it (which we already paid for btw).

Original came out for $60. The expansion is $50. So 50 > 60? The core game is not part of the price of the expansion either. If they dropped the free core game to new accounts, the expansion would still be $50.

While I do understand why A.net is actively trying to capture new players, giving existing players a character slot as a “loyalty bonus” seems near insulting. Even if they just gave us $10 worth of gems it’d be far far better. Just my two copper of course.

Well, keep in mind that it took a full scale player riot picked up be the media to make ANet give away 1 character slot with the expansion.

Now, sending gems to everyone updating to HoT might affect gems-to-gold market too much, but …

what would be nice is if ANet give all the current players a special currency we could exchange for some of the things new players receive with a brand new gw2 package. I’m not asking for the full value of 5 char slots, bank slot and material slot, but at least something equivalent to 40-80% of that.

For example, when an existing account upgrades to HoT, the player receives Loyalty Tokens (LT) that can be spent to get

  • 2-4 new character slots, or
  • 3-6 bag slot expansions, or
  • 3-5 bank expansions, or
  • 2-4 material storage expanders, or
  • an exclusive mini of Colin Johanson or Gaile Gray, or
  • a combination of the above, then spend the remaining LT to buy
  • transmutation charges, or
  • spirit charges, or
  • some other useful stuff to make sure LTs aren’t wasted

This way the players would be in control of what they get, and I’m sure, 95% of the players will be totally extatic about the deal, praise ANet on their generosity, and HoT pre-purchase will go way up right away.

The idea is that if ANet wants to be fair to what they sell with HoT to new players as well as old ones, they’d have to make it

  • totally fair: give veteran players an equivalent of $40 in virtual goods
  • understandable to get more profit: give a $30 equivalent
  • totally greedy: give a $20 equivalent
  • insulting: $10 equivalent
  • cause a riot: give nothing, a $0 equivalent

What really happened is ANet started with giving $0 extra value for upgrade, got a riot on their hands, then made a community address and promised to give everyone who pre-purchased HoT a char slot. Apparently, the most vocal players on the forums were Ok with that deal. Some players are still unhappy, but at least there is not that many active rebels here

No. That there is entitlement. It’s disappointing that it’s now expected that companies have to provide free bonuses with any of their products otherwise they’re labeled as greedy or out of touch.

Dude, all we want is to not be forced to open our inventory every time we want to change weapon.

It has nothing to do with balance at all.

It doesn’t make any difference, staff, D/x, S/x require other traits, you have to stop to select them anyway.
You would never be effective using a single set of traits for any kind of weapons you choose to equip.

Not really. If the sole intention is to swap out of staff when out of combat to stack might, you don’t need any of the traits that are not part of the staff meta build to do that.

Your definition of group content is flawed. It does not take a group to explore a map but you are allowed to advertise that in the lfg.

But it can be done as a group as you’re playing the game together. This is not the case when the sole purpose is to gain access to someone’s home instance. This argument is moot anyhow as it has already been stated that it’s against the rules. You can keep arguing against that but it’s not going to change a thing.

Old Lions Arch

Lion’s Arch sold it’s identity as a pirate town when it became a full on fortress city with buildings shaped like sea creatures.

It’s services layout is worse than the original LA, and light years worse than when it was wrecked…

For me personally this nostalgia trip was actually more painful than happy just because of how much of the old is truly dead now, and how alien the new really feels.

This is likely something that will end up in the story somewhere, they have a fortress, so now either somebody or something will attack it, or there will be a massive power shift. Indeed, I think it would be criminal not to bring in a rather large side-story arc about this. A place like this who just recently was home to so many pirates and thugs will not remain peaceful as their way of life, and the openness of it, just dried up. And the Captain’s Council itself, made of basically pirate captains, would start seeing massive internal struggles like assassination attempts, coups, politics…the things pirates don’t do. Lest we forget Evon Gnashblade still likely has an axe to grind with Ellen Kiel, and faces competition from the Consortium who have been all too happy to use nigh-criminal measures to further their own endeavors.

But LA itself will never be the same again, and I think the look and feel of the old LA was better, never to be seen again.

Services are roughly the same as they were at launch. Lion’s Arch was only a “pirate town” due to the events of Orr rising. In GW1, it was not so. It looks more like a fortified coastal base now.

Its not QoL when meta tries to include things like “use guard focus 5 for shield just before combat, then swap that weapon with torch for max DPS”. The fact that Eles can might stack like crazy, unless it resets ALL buffs on swap, people would use it game the system for easy might prior to combat.

Except they can already do that through the inventory. There are players that do just that while keeping their inventory open or compressed. It’s QoL in that it removes the need to have the inventory window open as you can to it with a single key shortcut.

I still believe it should be part of the build templates so it’s available across all of the classes.

Better to just include it with build templates that way all classes benefit.

  • They said they would do a patch every two weeks to adjust balance in light of the huge balance patch. Have they? Nope. Have they even mentioned anything about it? Nope.

I keep seeing people say this on the forum but no source to back it up, I would like a link to the source please.

Likely this

Please, for a love of whatever of the GW God’s you choose…get a test server. It is just unacceptable to me personally to see an entire game get unbalanced and the community have to play the waiting game until things are corrected.

This happens, because as bright as the people balancing things are, they simply cannot predict what is going to happen in a mass environment with live players. Can run all the algorithms in the world and that won’t stop a few players from devising a way to totally ruin the game.

Also, I don’t think we should pin this on conditions being too strong. I think everything is too strong.

I understand that this would be helpful but in the absence of a test server, which is our current situation, we will do as much as we can as fast as we can. We made some changes today and more will be coming as the week goes on. After that our intention is to make balance and bug fix changes to this stuff every couple of weeks leading up to the release of HoT.

Also, not everything is too strong, just all forms of damage.

Policy on the LFG Tool

I use the LFG tool for forming a group to farm my instance when it’s a daily. I do it free of charge and do not expect nor advertise for tips. I do it just to be helpful. My PUG group usually fills up in 5 minutes and we’re off.

Can’t see anything that’s wrong with that. Am I missing anything?

Thanks!

Home instances are not group content though. It was also specifically stated that advertising home instances were not allowed.

Yes advertising, which implies a cost is not allowed. Giving it away for free is totally fine. Also how is it not group content if multiple people are allowed to enter one persons instance?

Whether it’s free or not doesn’t matter. It’s not group content because it’s not. I don’t see why that needs to be explained. For dungeons you generally need a group to complete them. Do you really need a group to farm a home instance? Not to mention that it’s already been stated that it’s not allowed.

Or use the LFG to find an active map. SW is different as there’s always several maps going on with people doing events.

My experience with this aspect of SW play has been spotty, at least in NA. “Always” is really, “sometime.” Regardless, using megaserver shards to compensate for conflict in player intent is a workaround for inferior zone design. I don’t expect SW to change, but it’s my hope ANet learned something (finally) about player behavior and uses that information when designing zone features and events in HoT.

Things may have changed since March/April when I really last played the game. From the times I happened to step into a SW map, I never got into one for chest farms.

Anet gives great communication but then I’m not one that feels I need to know every detail about what they’re working on. Some players just have unreasonable expectations. When Anet released that road map, and were unable to follow through on a few items, people complained greatly about it. They still do. You have people who treat everything Anet says as set in stone without giving any thought whatsoever that plans can change.

I’ve seen more threads/posts about people wanting mounts when doing a Google search than I did when looking for those about golems. I guess not having mounts in a serious problem? Those that post only represent a small fraction of the playerbase. At the time of the announcement of golem rush, there was only one thread complaining about golems in the first 10 pages of the WvW forum. I could have gone further back but didn’t see the point. That one single thread in the WvW forum that I found was still on its first page. Hardly a serious issue.

Well, Arenanet haven’t exactly gone out of their way to instil trust in their playerbase.

  • They said they would do a patch every two weeks to adjust balance in light of the huge balance patch. Have they? Nope. Have they even mentioned anything about it? Nope.
  • They haven’t released any statements regarding the wvw, or even acknowledged it.

A simple statement here or there would quell the playerbase immediately. Have they bothered to? Nope. Their silence only further angers everyone.

And this is why they do not give timelines and are very hush hush about what they’re working on.

Just wait it out. I am sure ANET will extend the pre-order when their sales statistic is not satisfactory to them.

Or their pre-purchase sales are already right on target or exceeding expectations so they would have no need to do that. They could also be factoring in players who will pre-purchase between now and release or immediately upon the expansion’s release.

I guess what I’m saying is that if you expect that sales are not satisfactory, and that they will extend the bonus offer, you have pretty good chance that you’ll be disappointed.

I’ll go on to add that GW2 cost 50£/55€ at release. HoT costs 34.99£/44.99€ according to PC Gamer. In the US, it released for $60 and the expansion sells for $50. That’s a 10€ difference just as it’s a $10 difference in the US.

Terra refuted Indigo’s statement about there being a $10 price difference. Terra is wrong as there clearly is such a difference. He’s also wrong about the price of the core game at release unless he’s referring to the price that he personally paid for which is irrelevant to the discussion.

My initial post was refuting his statement about Indigo being wrong when he was expressing it in dollars and Terra in euros. What it was in euros didn’t matter as Indigo was still correct in what he stated. Of course, it turned out Terra was incorrect in the core game release price so it was a 10€ difference there too.

Chances are if I had looked up the price difference in euros, I would not have brought up the VAT tax. The tax for both the core game and expansion would have been proportional so you’re correct about that. Somehow I convinced myself that the VAT tax was the difference.

Because he was referring to the dollar metric which is not the same as euro. From what I remember, there’s an additional tax in Europe which adds to the cost.

Tax would have been applied to both prices equally, so no, it doesn’t count for such comparison.

Please read the bolded.

Notice how the person you replied to originally was comparing eu price to eu price (and as such tax was irrelevant, because it was applied to both prices equally).

No. Look at who that person was replying to. Indigo was expressing the costs in dollars and then Terra went about it in Euros.

Suggestion: New dungeon/fractal mechanic

A couple of other examples of stacking would be for TA. You stack to pull the spiders into the tunnel to prevent over-aggro before Malrona. You stack again in a tunnel before Fyonna to pull her out of that room with the eggs.

Fyonna is better done in the room. Faster.

Try doing that in a pug group and let me know how it turns out.

Edit: I’ll just out this disclaimer here in case someone doesn’t read the rest of the thread.

I’m not supporting one side or another in this issue. I started off in this thread by saying people should simply form their own group if they want to play a certain way. In a later post I said that I wouldn’t care if what the OP wants because for effective to long as it didn’t negatively impact the way that the other side does their dungeon runs. Most suggestions that people have suggested in the past actually do have a negative impact.

I gave examples which were generally best in pug groups as they’re very unreliable. Things are obviously different in fixed groups where you have higher coordination, higher DPS, and higher chance of people knowing what they’re doing. However, the majority of groups done for dungeons are pugs through the LFG system. This was why I focused on those. There are a lot of things that work well in a speed clear groups that do not in your average pug group.

Suggestion: New dungeon/fractal mechanic

Please give 1 example where it’s actually faster and more efficient to stack a boss in a corner. The stacking in a corner meta was fixed when we stopped taking 3 warriors and FGS was nerfed.

Golems in SE P1 and CoE all paths. Subject Alpha otherwise he moves around (backs up until pinned against something). Also easier to dodge forward into the wall to prevent him from moving.

Litearlly no group worth their salt stacks in the corner for the SE1 golems.

And same goes for Alpha.

Alpha fun fact – Did you know he’s actually more dangerous to stack in the corner for alpha? His stone tooth skill is a targetted cone, when you all cuddle in front of him you all can tank the damage.

And if you can dodge through alpha to keep him more or less locked into the spot where he spawns.

Both just really, really poor examples of where it’s better, becasue it isn’t.

It’s more efficient to cleave/burst them all at once that one by one. It’s been awhile since I’ve run dungeons but I vaguely remember at least one of the golems being ranged. You corner stack to ball them up.

I’ve been in groups which have someone who dodges backwards and occasionally messes things up with an ill-timed crystal prison thing or he moves after them. I’ve also fought Subject Alpha with everyone stacked on him in melee but he keeps moving around. The cone earth attack if his really isn’t an issue.

Also keep in mind that I’m not saying it’s the best thing to do blindly for every single encounter in the dungeons.

You can mesmer pull or have a guard pull them all together and burst them on the spot so easily there is no real excuse for the corner stack what so ever.

And Alpha, you can burst him almost to 0 so easily him running around like a chicken should almost never happen at all.

When you mention these stack spots are you talking about pugging or running with people who, to be blunt, aren’t bad? Because I guess I can see these being a bit useful for really badly optimised groups with pitiful dps or for low skill players.

But yeah in general real no excuse what so ever. Like pretty much every stack spot is a remnent of a time long ago, and the sad thing is I willing to bet 99% of pug players or guilds who use the pug stack spots have literally no idea why they do it.

I know that they can. And if your group doesn’t have either of the two or they don’t know how? I know Mesmer it’s much easier to mess up the pull to group them.

In high DPS groups you can burst down Alpha in a matter of seconds but those are very rare to find in pugs. I’m referring to things in pug groups as they’re very different than high coordinated speed clear groups. i’ve found the few spots to be very effective rather than relying on someone to pull them together and have them mess it up.

I probably should have been more specific in my posts.

Ele with earth shield and Engi with Streamlined kits + bomb kit can also do the pull just fine. Just a fyi

I actually find the corner stack at those golems to be less consistent than using tools to bunch them up.

I also find Subject Alpha easier in the open because I can avoid the teeth or have it on me and not the rest of the group allowing for an easier time.

Corner stacking at this point is pretty much for trash. Alphard in Arah is the only one I can think of where we LoS, but I think it’s pretty much designed for that with the mechanics. Lupi of course putting him on the wall makes it easier to avoid triggering the p3 frenzied blast, but at this point you actually want him to do that because otherwise he does the auto more often which is more of a pain to deal with.

I guess maybe Kholer to avoid his strafing move. And while it’s for the trash I think the Dredge before the final boss of SE3 is also a good example where stacking/LoSing is used quite effectively. So 3 bosses? my brain hurts trying to think of more

I’m not familiar with Engi but shield is an option for Ele although I can’t say I’ve seen anyone use it. With pugs I found it more consistent than relying on one of them to know how to pull the three together. I’ve ran in groups where nobody pulls anything at all. Maybe I’m just jaded and very pessimistic about them knowing what they’re doing.

A couple of other examples of stacking would be for TA. You stack to pull the spiders into the tunnel to prevent over-aggro before Malrona. You stack again in a tunnel before Fyonna to pull her out of that room with the eggs.

Ele and Engi weapon swap OOC

Also keep in mind that the OP is referring to weapon swaps outside of combat.

…but that already exists, and every class has it. It’s called the Hero Panel. There is literally nothing stopping Elementalists or Engineers from switching weapons out of combat.

The OP’s request is redundant bordering on nonsensical.

They’re calling for the ability to do that out of combat the same way that other classes can do out of combat. They don’t want to have to go through the menu. Think about if Anet disabled the weapon swap key while out of combat. How would you feel by having to go into the hero menu?

I’m not arguing for or against it but you have to see where they’re coming from.

I main Engineer, and this has literally never crossed my mind. I’m picturing these people managing their inventories, and all I can picture is the people who are incapable of putting tupperware in a cabinet without it exploding everywhere in silly infomercials.

I mean, if a Warrior in WvWvW wants to switch from GS/Hammer to Hambow, then they have to perform this exact maneuver.

Now, if you wanted all professions to have the ability to save gear sets somewhere out of their inventory for easy equipping, I would be all for it. But I don’t think that Engineers and Elementalists (seeing as how they literally have access to the highest number of weapon skills in combat) need—or even deserve—to have a special mechanic added to the game just for them because some players can’t equip an item out of their inventory without dying.

That would be one way of doing it.
