For VW, you’re under time restrictions. You lose DPS and time when reviving people from being dead.

You also lose the dead guy’s DPS, at least for as long as the down-scaling takes.

Yeah and now you lose another player’s DPS if they revive them for an event that has time restrictions.

Are people really complaining about this just to complain? The stats you get currently from your trait distribution is an afterthought. The majority of builds are not created on the stats that the trait distribution provides but rather the traits selected.

I do not remember see threads upon threads of people complaining about our current trait system in regards to the stats and how you often get stats you would not need because of the lines certain traits happen to be located in.

I just made the run: It takes 1:35 to run from the north gate in SW to where the kidney guy stands.

Therefore, if it takes less than 62 seconds to rez someone, it’s more profitable (for the team) to rez. Longer = WP and run.

But, that’s probably the longest possible run in the game outside of fractals. Normal situations would seem to take less time to run (the aforementioned IG2, for instance).

Does anybody know how long it takes to rez someone?

Plan to spend 2,100 gold if you were to buy all of the materials rather than farm them (not counting how much it costs to get the crafts to 400). Laurels are a great way to get those T6 mats. I would personally get the 77 clovers before seriously farming/acquiring those mats as the mystic forge recipe for clovers can yield them. SW is great for bypassing the need for karma by getting obsidian shards directly from the chests. Badges of Honor can be gained quickly in EotM. Also be aware that you can get the precursor from a collection once the expansion is released.

Assuming that you have the more time-consuming materials such as world completion and obsidian shards collected, I’d say that you could craft legendary weapons within an hour. It’s not as great as it once was around last Christmas where some gave a profit of around 900 gold and on the rare occasion just a little over 1K gold.

Prices have dropped due to HoT as precursors are now much cheaper and players also have easy access to obsidian shards from SW. Tier 6 mats are even easier to get now with laurels than they were in the past.

The one restriction that prevents a lot of people from doing this is that you need the initial gold to craft and sell the first legendary. After that, you can keep producing them so long as you have the mats as gold won’t be a factor.

… Edit: Here’s someone that got to 80 in about 28.5 hours. …
http://i.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1vr5s5/challenge_100_map_exploration_in_one_go/

Seems to be 32 hours. Perhaps I mathed wrongly from the table at the bottom of the post. Also left out the WvW mapping since that no longer counts.

Has anyone marked down the time it takes to level in Edge of the Mists? With and w/o cons? I’ve done it in the past but never payed attention to the time.
I find mapping incredibly boring. Need to be active while doing it, less annoying as vanqing in GW1 sure but there’s more involved than mindlessly running around EotM while watching videos/messing around in another game. Areas with on-level or close to level events that spawn often give the best exp for normal playing, mainly as an alternative to EotM.

When counting special events things do get lopsided. The Mad King’s Labyrinth time I mentioned was just that char’s /age on noticing it hit 80. Boss Blitz was also really good.. though it was more fun to solo the bosses :)

Have 10 80’s, rerolled 4 others, a bunch of lowers, and countless keyfarmers.
This has taught me: Levels are just a gating to content. It’s impossible to not gain levels by playing the game, do the funnest things while enjoying the journey.

It was to 80, not world completion. I stopped counting when he hit 80.

I think I gained about five levels an hour but I’m not 100% sure. It goes quickly because you’re scaled up and each event’s experience reward is based on what your actual level is which you won’t see in the open world. You also do so many events that it just adds up.

Map completion is the second fastest method of leveling outside of consumables/crafting. I will make the disclaimer that Halloween was a special case as you have so many events in such a small area and tons of mobs due to scaling. You won’t find this the majority of the time.

That’s not true.

Consumables/crafting is fastest (also costs money that new chars don’t have yet)
EoTM is 2nd (with a good zerg, otherwise not really).
Killing yellow mobs with boosters (XP + Celebration + Killstreak) is 3rd (while constantly moving to new mobs for max bonus XP)
I would say map completion is 4th, maybe even 5th behind PvP (you get tomes of knowledge pretty often if you PvP regularly)

EDIT: You know, now that I think about it, for completely new players with no money and no access to boosters, map completion might actually be towards the top of the list after a good EoTM rotation. I still think PvP is faster if you enjoy PvP. WvW is too hit and miss IMO.

Read the entire thread please or at least all of my posts. I was not counting consumables/crafting in that ranking. There is no way that farming enemies with boosters is quicker to level in the open world. There were exceptions which I gave an example of one.

I was specifically pointing out your claim about map completion being #2 outside of crafting/consumables is incorrect. I only included crafting/consumables as I was creating a list of fastest leveling methods (all inclusive). EoTM and PvP are faster, with or without consumables, but require a specific play type someone may not be open to playing.

Completely excluding leveling methods that require boosters to be efficient, map completion is still 3rd in the list behind EoTM and PvP (5th overall in an all inclusive list as was the point of my original reply)

FYI: Farming enemies with boosters is far faster to level in open world than map completion (+100% XP from celebration, +100% XP from full killstreak, +50% from XP booster). I can level consistently 2X/hr with boosters killing yellow mobs with max bonus XP on them (I have a couple of routes I rotate between so I don’t kill any a second time and thus reduce my bonus XP). With map completion you would be lucky to level once an hour. And that’s including the XP scroll consumables you get for doing dailies. It’s not even close to the speed of max bonus XP yellow mobs w/ all boosters.

I gain 3-4 levels per map doing map completion and this is done in about 1.5 hours on average. You’re also relying on consumables that not everyone will have access to or the gold/cash for either. You’re also going under the assumption that there will be a vibrant stream of enemies which isn’t the case as they’re fairly spread out. It’s only some events where you get this and those tend to last only for a few minutes and can have long cool downs before they start up again.

PvP is definitely not faster either. You’ll get two levels (from the tomes) every hour and 20 min or so and that’s assuming that your matches last exactly 7 minutes. If they end sooner then you get less progression. Most matches on average take longer than 7 minutes. And as I said, you get 3-4 levels per map when doing map completion.

Edit: Here’s someone that got to 80 in about 28.5 hours. Doing PvP reward tracks and getting 2 times an hour would have only leveled you to 60 in that time. It’s been done faster. If I used BLTC consumables such as for speed and strength, I can likely complete maps even quicker.

Fastest Map completion classes ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

For map completion, I’d say warrior or thief. Swiftness is less of an issue nowadays since we have Spring Rolls (Level 80). The fastest classes will be those with movement skills on quick cool downs (e.g. leaps and teleports) and those that can kill quickly to complete hearts.

So… How would you recommend leveling? I’ve done map completion in the Charr city, Plains of Ashford and I’m about to finish Diessa Plains… I’m level 22… When I finish Diessa I’ll be 23. That’s two levels below the next zone… I could probably do Lion’s Arch map complete and that’ll help a bit… But I can’t figure out why I’m below where I should be…

Do map completion in one of the other zones that are your level or below. You’ll encounter this problem a lot when leveling by map completion if some maps are skipped so it’s normally best to do every map or supplement it with EotM farming, crafting, or consumables.

If you are on a Charr I can understand your frustration. If you unsheathe your weapon, your character stands on it’s hind legs, giving you a better idea of where you’ll land.

I’ll also add onto this that a tonic can be used to transform into something small. Just make sure it has the capability to jump.

There are some amazing hero builds to assist with vanquishing. Ive been using some modified ones and in a week have nearly cleared Nightfall with little effort. I’ll try and find the link and post it here later.

Whilst doing that, you will gain hundreds of platinum. Also make sure you do Zaishen quests. To get the pvp title is a tad long winded using zaishen coins, but the platinum will help. Vanquishing will also max out your sunspear title pretty quick

Make sure you pay attention to the bonus week. Last week was double lightbringer points – amazingly quick to cap when vanquishing. This week is Zaishen bounties double coins.

I would love that link, if you ever come back here! I started GW1 recently, and I’m not sure where to find current info. Been searching the internet for builds and stuff, but I have no idea how to know if it’s outdated. Also any links to ranger builds (PvE) would be awesome! As well as leveling in Nightfall- I’m level 8 and everything seems to be level 10+, which I keep failing at.

Many use this:

Some use this other one which requires a substantial investment in gear to be effective and it requires you to either be rit main or have it as your second class.

I will add that if you plan on vanquishing the maps within the Prophecies campaign, it’s best to start from Temple of Ages and clear everything east including Ascalon and then west to include all of Maguuma. For Crystal Desert, start out from Mouth of Torment and work your way to Arid Sea.

All of this is so that you have a larger party than you normal would had you started from the closer outposts.

Bounties are not difficult to find if you have all five people spread out and search along the route. If all else fails, you can scout out the more difficult ones such as prisoner and trixie in case you get one of them. This is for tier one by the way. You’ll need more people or luck if doing a tier 2/3.

I also want to add that I’m not against the trainer bounties giving 5 merits so long as they can’t be stacked from those of a regular bounty. I just wanted to point out that it is possible for very small guilds to do the tier 1’s.

I’ve seen a tier 1 be completed with 5 people. The only one that needs to be scouted is the tier 3 and this is only if you want a high success rate. I was in a guild before where we split into two groups and we did succeed that way. What really helps is that everyone knows the routes and follows them against the path that the bounty walks.

there is a lot more exp than there is levels, if you just map complete you will end up outleveling content, which is ineffecient.
you get less % exp the higher your level difference is.
therefore you are always better off in areas where you are the same level or slightly lower.

also dynamic events are generally shorter than hearts

Im not saying never do hearts, but the most effecient way is to do only the easy hearts, preferably that you can finish while doing dynamic events, it would be easier if you could see more of the dynamic event progresses, but yeah, full map completion is generally not the fastest way.

usually by the time i hit 80, i may only have like 30% map completion, and i primarily pve it.
i did 8 .5 charachters to 80.

would be nice if we could compare but i doubt we kept track of playtime to 80

I’ll assume that when you state content then you mean all items needed for map completion. Using your argument, completing all events that are below your level is inefficient too. Now remember, events have cool downs and they are not that numerous in any specific area level on a map. You may very well find several events at your level but there’s not enough to consistently farm them unless you plan on hopping maps. As a new character, you don’t have access to waypoints to places that you haven’t been to.

Just about all hearts in the game are easy. There are only a small percentage that take quite some time such as that stealth one I mentioned earlier.

Rather than continue this discussion, I’ll post this link on what someone says is the most optimal route. It’s outdated and won’t contain changes caused by LS1 but those differences are minor.

http://www.ehmry.com/topic/2221-tour-de-waypoint/

Unless you can present a guide or method that shows dynamic event farming yields more XP/hr than map completion, there’s really no point in discussing this further. As I stated in a previous post, I personally have done map completion and any events that I came across. I would not go out of my way to complete them and I would normally skip the ones that seem more time-consuming or at the very least tag them.

some hearts slow progress more than they give you exp.

and its always more experience to be fighting things your level (they scale up exp, but not as much as doing something your level)

There are few chains which give massive exp, and destroy the exp from hearts. like the old ulgoth chain, if you use exp boosters, the bonus and the killing itself is huge.

I would say events with monsters that havent been killed in a long time are the best leveling.

and yeah hearts are often not that entertaining. Really wish it wasnt part of map completion

Only a few take ages such as that stealth one in Blazeridge. I can usually clear an entire map within 1.5 hours at most. The thing with events is that many have long cool downs such as the Ulgoth one you mentioned. Finding events in out of the way locations which would have a lot of mobs that haven’t been killed in awhile is out of the question for many people that have not done map completion before or even enough to know where the events are and how often they’re done.

The thing is that nobody event farms in the open world anymore. There used to be the Queensdale farm but that was nerfed long ago. Most people just do EotM now which is actually the number one method from what I was speaking about. There’s also no guides on what the optimal routes would be for open world event farming, if there are any, so players will be at a loss.

How I leveled 6/8 characters was by doing world completion and doing as many events as I came across. I would not go out of my way for any particular event and would just tag them if it appeared it would take too long to complete.

Hearts are the worst method of exp, do them for fun not the reward :P
They normally point to where events occur, doing the event around a heart will generally complete the heart as well.

Events should be the bread and butter of leveling.
Just killing mobs and events that spawned them took about 31 hours to make a lvl 80 during Halloween. That’s with stacked exp boosters as well. Edge of the Mists works well for alts. If a person finds sPvP enjoyable or simple does the daily in hot-join/practice a fair amount of level tomes come from reward tracks.

With that all said… some of the little stories around hearts are cute/neat/fun.

Map completion is the second fastest method of leveling outside of consumables/crafting. I will make the disclaimer that Halloween was a special case as you have so many events in such a small area and tons of mobs due to scaling. You won’t find this the majority of the time.

Jewelry and ascended trinkets

They were introduced for fractals before ascended crafting became available a year later. We may see crafting soon when we can get jeweler to 500. Many speculate that jeweler will actually server another purpose such as allowing players to craft items that give the special effects such as the rare drop from VW or the items from the trick or treat bags.

Being available for laurels makes ascended more widely available to players due to how incredibly easy it is to get them. Players can get 55 laurels every 28 days just by logging in. Ascended trinkets also provide the bulk of the stat increases that ascended gives over exotics.

Dont worry about the skins as those are account bound. If none of your characters are level 80 then you’re not losing much by deleting all of them to swap to your friend’s server. You can see how WvW servers are performing by looking at their score history/rankings.

It’s just access to the instances that are locked behind payments and anything that relies on the optional LS instance achievements. You can still experience the story completely if you join a friend that has access. All of the open world content has been free to all players so far.

I can’t give a “soon” on this one, but it is being looked at and the problems were identified and repro’d by QA. Once the bugs are written though it’s out of my hands until a fix is delivered to us for testing.

This chain and a few others that come to mind are a bit fragile and the team might opt for a better, but more time consuming to fix, solution. On our side we spent the better part of several months tracking this down this issue (and other meta chain bugs) from threads here, other forums, the wiki, and on live by debugging the chains that are stuck.

I wish I could give you much better news, but I also don’t want you to feel like you’re shouting into a void.

Would it be possible to just eliminate the way that the chain is currently activated by having it start on the part where you eliminate the two bosses just before you destroy the huts. This can be set at predetermined intervals like for FE. The event chain appears to break somewhere before that quite often.

Dealing with logging in on 25+ different account wouldn’t be exactly effortless. It personnally takes me over 20 minutes to deal with 5 accounts so for 25 accounts we are probably talking about over an hour of entering different emails and passwords + loading screens, every day, before you get to do anything else. It’s a very annoying, time consuming and boring process to go through.

Entering email/password can be bypassed by creating shortcuts for each account and modifying the target line. Only advisable if you’re the only one who uses the computer and you’re careful about what you download/do online. It doesn’t take much effort at all.

Getting back to GW2!

1. What is the leveling experience? Is a good experience and something that can be enjoyable?

You have more opportunities to level now. There’s still map completion and WvW. Leveling by crafting got nerfed a bit when they added ascended crafting to now you only get 7 or 8 levels per craft when going to 400.

Another popular way to level is by doing the karma train in Edge of the Mists. PvP also got reward tracks that award tomes of knowledge which is each to one level. You also get some through the daily login reward system.

The experience isn’t what it used to be as they’ve locked out several systems to make it more palatable for new players. The trait system also got overhauled. You now have to spend a ton of gold plus skillpoints to unlock the traits or go and do various tasks to unlock them. This is unfortunately all character bound so you’ll have to repeat this over again for every new character. According to a post from Anet, they’ll be reworking this for the expansion to be something like the mastery system that will be released with it.

2. I played a bit before, but delete my low level characters for the free transfers and a fresh start. I was just wondering how the servers are in GW2? Is there any servers that is better to chose or is all mostly the same when it comes to population?

I believe all of the servers are the same as they were before in regards to WvW. Server doesn’t matter much for PvE as we now have megaservers.

3. Is there any "class’ " that are better for diffrent things? I haven’t researched them that much, so was just wondering if they all had some very specific roles or if they can do diffrent things?

Some classes perform some things better than others. Just remember that all classes in the game are viable so choose the one(s) that you feel you would enjoy and match your play style.

You are demanding something you know is impossible to obtain. Nice try.

First off, if you read my comments fully, I included other recent anomalies in my argument as well. Not just the BLC’s.

No-one outside of people who work for Arenanet can provide evidence of anything in regards to what is going on. It is all speculation. I am merely stating that it is financially advantageous for Arenanet to make such moves. High volume items that carry a 15% transaction tax add up quickly in the gold sink.
There is no reason for them not to manipulate certain items which have floundered for a long period of time.

Then don’t act like that they are doing that. If you can’t prove it, don’t treat it as a fact.

Yeah, I saw your other post. You brought up someone with insider information when it likely someone just manipulating the market. It’s been stated that Anet prefers to not interfere with the market. The only times that they have is by adding/removing items, changing recipes, and affecting drop rates to name a few. They have not gone in and simply removed items from the TP to artificially raise the prices.

Anyway, it looks like the chests have come down from where they were about 24 hours ago. Supply does seem to be steadily increasing so I wonder where the new price range will stabilize.

Yes that is true. Was there a point that you were trying to argue? If you were trying to argue against Wanze with it, could you please provide evidence that isn’t conjecture or circumstantial? I’m curious about how you think Anet is manipulating the market for black lion chests.

If you can’t see something as simple as how they could do something like that, I’m not going to bother explaining anything else.

I bolded part of my post above. I know full well how they could do something like that. Just because they have the means does not mean that they’re the cause (i.e. they manipulated the market).

The Platinum Edition and the Trilogy is probably the best package to get.

BLC manipulation cont.

Is there anything stopping Anet from buying items on the BMT to artificially make the item more rare and expensive?

Not sure about BLC’s, but there are plenty of other areas where it would benefit their bank account to do such things. There is no law against it, and they’ve never told the user base they wouldn’t do it, so.. yeah.

I am pretty sure that JS stated that Anet, as a company, doesnt participate in the trading market.

Well, I guess if John said so, it must be true, because no employee of a company has ever lied on the forums.

(Not saying he is lying, but his statement does not necessarily make it true)

As I mentioned, maybe you should produce a proper reason, why Anet should do it in the first place before considering that they actually do it.

You know very well that the trading post is a massive gold sink and higher price equal greater gold sink effectiveness through taxation.

Yes that is true. Was there a point that you were trying to argue? If you were trying to argue against Wanze with it, could you please provide evidence that isn’t conjecture or circumstantial? I’m curious about how you think Anet is manipulating the market for black lion chests.

I don’t remember seeing anyone from Anet ever lying. Besides, this accusation is not constructive nor is it on topic with the thread.

I am curious to see if the prices to drop down in a few days as mentioned in an earlier post.

Question about deleting a character

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Ayrilana.1396

Ayrilana.1396

You lose anything that is on the character such as what’s equipped and in their inventory. You can resolve this by putting everything that isn’t soulbound into your bank. Soulbound items will be unusable to other characters but you can salvage them for materials if possible.

Skill points will also not be transferred. It’s best to convert them into gold using various methods that you can find on these forums.

Achievements/titles are tied to the account.

BTW. Has anyone completed this achievement yet?

Many have. I’m not sure how many got them all as drops, bought them, or a combination of the two.

It’s really a small amount of money, or you can farm a couple of days and buy them with gems.

day’s….you do mean months right?……

oh and i dislike paying for HoT, it’s even less then LS2……

It’s days. SW chest farming and/or dungeon tours give great returns. You also do not know what the expansion contains so to say it’s less than season 2….

I use the mobile thing as it’s easier than the email. I don’t think there is a way to undo the email validation.

Will HoT fix damask?

Cloth nodes please, even if they are as rare as ori or ancient wood nodes. It makes no sense that you can’t harvest cloth in some way. The methods for getting low level cloth are wonky, and the amount of silk needed is ridiculous with no nodes and inconsistent with the other resources.

Also, why does heavy armour need more damask than leather? The same maybe, but more? It should use the least.

You don’t need as much padding when wearing leather compared to metal armor.

I couldn’t see the harm in them adjusting the scale for it to take an additional 10-15 seconds to kill with the current numbers that we have doing FE now. That should give more than enough time for everyone to get their tags in without dragging on the fight.
