I dislike paying for season 2

in Living World

Posted by: Ayrilana.1396

Ayrilana.1396

When the game was originally sold, it was promoted as a ‘pay once for the game’ and no paying for any other game content, unless you wanted extras (skins, toys). This is game content. its the continuation of the game, that is why OP is upset, and I agree. As for those saying ‘you only had to log in once in the 2 week period’ yeah, I’m guessing you’re young or you have no idea what its like to be hospitalized for a month or more. Sometimes people simply can’t, it isn’t always that simple. I log in almost every day and I still am missing the 1st 2 parts of season 2. The point is, I (we) bought a game that is supposed to be a ‘buy the game once and never pay again’ but it isn’t.

So I guess you’re pretty upset about the expansion?

Would you be upset if season 2 was temporary like season 1?

I doubt it otherwise people would have no incentive to purchase the episodes.

I absolutely LOVE the log in rewards! They’ve got me logging in daily…and then I’m like mmmh think I’ll just do x or y…and then I do a bit more and then I’m like “ooops, I have to study….” XD

Yep, but the reverse is possible too. I used to at least play enough to complete the daily fairly regularly. Now I mostly log in, loot the chest, look over the 4 PvE dailies, and just log out without playing.

Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve actually played at all since the new dailies started…

Are dailies really the issue or rather the lack of content within the game?

Another question. Are there pets in this game? And if not, then what is the miniature creatures are for?

There are pets but for rangers only. The miniatures are your flair or “bling” in the game. They don’t really serve a gameplay purpose.

EotM is currently the best way to get karma provided you have a decent train and commander. Normally green is the best but this tends to vary depending on which tier 1 server is green for that week. If you’re in a decent karma train, try to use any karma boosts that you have.

You get them as login rewards or you can farm map completion for the various cities. This requires you to have a disposable character slot available.

You explore the maps going for map completion while completing dynamic events. At the top right of the screen, there should be a compass that assists you. This was added last April, I believe. It’s really up to you on what you want to do and what your goals are.

The new class is the revenant but no specific details have really been released other than from PAX and a handful of articles. Mounts are currently not planned to be released in this game. This could change in the future but they’re largely unnecessary given the waypoint system that already exists.

The linked wiki article has obviously been updated since then. I vaguely remember players parking alts at the rich ori node at SSC. It’s only 25 charges though. I’m sure you can research more into this as maybe the charges were reduced too.

I’ve also seen other reports of players who get the green mining picks but they vary in level depending on what level you receive them. You’ll see numerous threads of green master picks only being able to get copper. No mention of what level they were but I did see someone (the OP) comment on a reddit thread that it had no requirement level.

Because you’ve had the luxury of playing S1. Look beyond your selfishness and see things through our eyes.

When I logged on after a one-year hiatus, I saw LA basically nuked. Nothing explained why, I had to piece it together from strange conversations with people I’d never met who claimed to be my best buddy ever.

I am pretty sure confusion is useless against golems as well – fairly certain their spin is a channeled skill (could be wrong though), as it can be interrupted at any point. Thus you’ll get a single ‘tick’ of confusion at the very beginning.

So no, there is still no valid use for confusion in PvE. The biggest issue is not even the low amount of damage per skill used (this can be tweaked as it was done in the patch), but the fact that attack speeds differ greatly across different creature types. This results in complete inability to normalize confusion without making it either useless for a large chunk of the game, or completely overpowered for another chunk. Since we can’t have an overpowered condition in PvE, it will remain useless, or marginally useful in a select few encounters. Certainly not something I’d spec for or carry a set of condition armor for.

Yeah, you’re right. I never used it so lumped it with retaliation.

The only things I would consider using confusion on in PvE are on golems before their spin attack. Those are the only mobs that immediately come to mind that do enough hits in a short amount of time to appear to be worth it. Would I go out of my way to apply confusion, including the runes? No.

Starting to nose dive? You sure? All that occurred was the shock from the announcement which caused a drop across the board in prices. If you look since then, there really hasn’t been a nose dive. Some of the popular ones are even trending upward.

storm still trending downward. The amount that is on available on TP is also increasing and buy orders are getting fullfilled. It went from 780 to 650 then recently to 600, then just a second ago one was at 555.

It seems even I was a bit rash to conclude that there is even such a trend as the market still hasn’t stabilized. We cannot make conclusions based off short term sales. However, there is not enough information available at this point to conclude that there is a downward trend in precursor prices (just as there isn’t for an upward one). Also keep in mind that it’s relatively easy to manipulate buy order trends on the TP as you incur no cost.

It’s funny – all those private hoarders with 20+ of every precursors watch you profits fall.

This is know as a market changing announcement which will have economic shocks as supply will go up , demand will go down , velocity of transactions down.

Prices are already starting to nose dive – won’t be long until a full market recession hits.
Good luck if you’re still trading in this market or any of the legendarys (which will soon take a nose dive in price shortly).

20% increase in stats doesn’t equal 20% dmg increase. A complete set of zerker exotic vs a complete set of zerker ascended = 9-10% dmg increase.

The 5% come from armor/weapons only. Its because trinket were easy to get and came first, the 5% came when they launched the armor/weapons and that most ppl already had ascended trinket.

It’s not 20% increase in stats, it’s about 6,06%. His point is that berserker’s gear uses triple stats increase (power, precision and ferocity) so that value is as high as 20%.

Show the math please that supports 20%+

You likely cannot as you’re limited by the preset faces. Unfortunately we do not have a system like in Elder Scrolls or Dragon Age where you can customize various elements of the face.

Yes you can. Maybe not to the same extent as in some games, but the 3rd option down on the character creator (Face details) gives you a whole bunch of sliders to adjust the size/shape/position of different parts of your characters face.

If you’re aiming for a specific look you may need to experiment with a few different combinations of presets and sliders but between the two there are a lot of options.

They’re very subtle changes which was what I was getting at. In those other games, you have much more flexibility that you could possible duplicate the face from GW1.

Selling on the LFG

People that are selling dungeon runs are inviting people to their group to do so. Thus looking for a group of players willing to join and pay for the run. They are not using the LFG tool as a grey market.

ok, so i can make a COF 1 run and after we kill the Efigy, the party gets to bid for a precursor. How cool is that?

Anet being overzealous about trading and the TP is really shady. They could have implemented a mailing system that allowed for scamless transaction, but decided to cheat players out of their hard earned gold. that’s not cool at all.

You’re paying for a service for a group-based activity in regards to selling dungeon paths. That’s much different than paying for something that could be bought off the TP. I don’t see how someone can confuse what the LFG system is as craigslist.

Why can't new players do the dailys?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ayrilana.1396

Ayrilana.1396

No, you do not need to be level 18.
You can enter it at level 2.

You can actually enter PvP and WvW from level 2. You’re just not told about them until later on.

You can not enter WvW until level 18 and PvP until level 22. I visually verified this after this post. When you try to access them a mouseover tooltip pops up stating these levels are required. I’m assuming this applies to new accounts only and is not applicable if you have a higher level toon on your account.

My point is that the new players are encouraged to participate in these events by a daily quest pop up. Regardless of how many other players think a new player should and shouldn’t enjoy their game experience the fact remains that a new player is given a task they can not complete.

I would prefer the new players be given encouragement to play in areas that they actually can complete.

False, mostly. You have to go to Lion’s Arch. Once you go click on a portal for WvW, the icon at the top unlocks including the keyboard shortcut. Once you go through the portal for Hearts of the Mist, and complete the tutorial, the icon at the top, including whatever shortcut you assign to it will unlock.

It’s also unfair that I cannot do the same damage with my guardian using clerics armor and staff. Please fix this! /sarcasm

It comes down to a matter of personal choice. This game uses active defense rather than passive defense that you see in other games. As such, using berserker gear rewards players with higher DPS but at a greater risk. Condition damage is damage over time whereas physical damage is straight damage. Considering most things die rather quickly, physical damage will be better as the full damage for DoT conditions will not have had enough time to be fully realized.

"No-grind philosophy"

Ayrilana.1396

Grinding has a traditional meaning with regard to MMOs. People want to apply their own definition to grind.

For years, the only definition I EVER heard for grind was killing mobs to level. Everything else was farming.

Yes, people use the word grind every liberally, but then, Guild Wars 1 had plenty of grind too if you were talking optional grind. You just didn’t grind for levels.

Anet explained what they meant by grind many times in interviews and at conventions after the manifesto.

If you choose to try to apply a different definition, it’s probably not Anet’s fault.

Anet made it clear in the PAX announcement that THEY do not share the interpretation that you mention. The founder and current head of the company as well as the director of the game made statements indicating that grind was not specific or exclusive to leveling.

We are not the ones applying a definition different than your own. Anet’s top people are.

It got extended to player progression such as the upcoming mastery system. They haven’t stated anything like that before. People have been misinterpreting what they meant by “no grind” rather than take what they exactly said at face value. They applied the “no grind” to everything when that was not what they said. As of now, the only system that goes against their no grind policy would be the trait system as it parallels the mastery system and yet it remains character bound whereas the other isn’t.

The New Dailies -- Feedback welcome

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ayrilana.1396

Ayrilana.1396

First of all you’re on a level 3 character. I was under the impression you only had to do one daily at level 3, but even if you didn’t, it takes minutes, literally minutes, to get to level 5 or 6 or 7. It takes about an hour to an hour and a half if you’re slow to get to level 15.

Doing dailies on someone’s first character on a new account isn’t going to be the priority for most people, or really anyone I can think of. They’re learning the game and leveling. They’ll have plenty of time to do dailies.

On your second character, your WvW and PvP will work when you have one character leveled high enough.

On my level 3 character I was required to do all 3 to get the 10 AP and the full daily rewards. Not one, 3. I did one and progressed the bar by one/third.

Whether or not the dailies are a priority is irrelevant. I am pointing out a design flaw. I should never be presented with impossible things to do as my options. If the game gives me dailies and suggests I do them, then they should be something I can do.

The point about a second character is irrelevant. I am talking about choices given to a new starting account.

Agreed. If the dailies are presented as an option to do on the screen, they should be doable. The old system allowed that, the new does not in the specific circumstances Astral refers to. It’s not the end of the world, but it is a flaw.

Perhaps it could be reworked a little so that the 3 achievements can be done without the restriction set by the NPE. A brand new players will not know about the other methods to gain access to these areas.

The grind referred to was grind one would have to do in order to access all playable content within the game. There are games that essentially have gear checks that restrict players. I believe someone mentioned this with some WoW raids but I’m not very familiar with that game.

Based on that transcript, the revamped trait system would now be considered a grind. They need to either make doing each task unlock that trait account-wide or find a better way.

Precursor prices after HoT announcement

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ayrilana.1396

Ayrilana.1396

How about you answer my question?

there were people bragging on the forums that they have hoarded 2000 precursors. These are the people that will panic and try to undercut. And this is exactly what we’re seeing.

And no, prices were not actually realistic for an average user. For example, a year ago, after all the loot overhauls I made Quip. My full money investment must have been 500 gold. My precursor was around 350. This time I’m heading for Meteorologicus. The price before the price drop was 700 gold. Around 500 would be what I would consider manageable. Around 400 is what I would have considered normal. My income is 10 gold a day.

Hoarding 2K? That’s a vast exaggeration. What you’re seeing is what naturally occurs when there potentially may be another way for players to obtain an item. You saw the opposite effect last year when they introduced the wardrobe system. It has nothing to do about specific people.

You need to understand exactly why precursor prices are why they are. They’re priced based on their supply from drops and the MF vs the demand for them. If greatsword precursors were arbitrarily set at 100G, the demand would greatly exceed the incoming supply to the point that you’d hardly ever see them on the TP. Those who use the MF would have less incentive to try to get those two as they’d be taking a loss as well.

Legendary weapons are a long term goal. Players that play less will take longer while players that play more will take less time. Legendary weapons were obtainable within a year and even more so now because of the daily login reward system that you can use to get those tier 6 fine materials.
