You mean instead of finding myself getting OHKOd they can do it even faster? Awesome, how does that work? I die before they attack?
You must not be running a bunker build.
Not in the least. I run something I enjoy, with a few tweaks here and there. But I prefer being “Tobias Trueflight” instead of “cookie_cutter_ranger_o6”.
Welcome to Guild Wars 2. Where build diversity is not really encouraged. Please enjoy your stay.

just a word…no. more money..more tokens…just more grind. definitely no.
Didn’t say anything about more grind, just sending it off differently. If you want to. I mean, really I’d just advocate people not bothering. But they’re not going to because they don’t want to be sub-par, so . . . I try to find a different way in theory.
It’s better than total RNG drop and nothing else. No. Let’s do that never again. Ever.
i think this: want to make ascended so grindy?
ok. just make not people need them for endgame.
increase exotic stats and leave them just for skins or combat animations or a title or…boh.
in wvw and pve everybody would so be on a par.
and: end of a major part of the complaints on this forum.too easy? (too little money from gems i think.)
WvW everyone is already on par. They all die the same to well-played rogues
Ascended gear still makes every thing better.
You know, I’m going to quote you out of context on that for months now
By the way? Exotic weapon or Ascended weapon, still lose to excellent thieves and warriors. I don’t think it really matters what they were wearing when I spend almost all my time unable to see my target, or laying on the ground from knockdown / launches.
But having ascended gear as a thief or warrior makes the kill go oh so much faster.

i concur with the OP
It wouldn’t make people run around Snowden any more or less than they do now.
One thing I don’t miss from Guild Wars 1. The combat was utterly dull.
I couldn’t disagree more. It seemed to require much more thought than what we have now. More teamwork as well.
Being rooted in place whilst using a skill. Chasing people around whilst doing nothing as melee. Clunky motions. Really bad rubber banding. No thank you.
One thing I don’t miss from Guild Wars 1. The combat was utterly dull.
and someone will say that they can gain ascended playing 1h a week without even looking at the screen while cooking,
here he comes xD
i have no mats, no gold, and no tolerance for any kind of crafting….
it’s my fault? i think it is.
in fact i accept my responsibility for not having had any legendary or rare dye or title.
i never argued about “voluntary” grinding.
i’m just a mediocre player, both in skills and in “aspect”.
if i can login only once in 2days for a pair of hours, i hoped i could play without any handicap (even that 12%) in any part of the game.
this is what i saw in the gw2, and what developers said about it.
simply now things are different. just admit it.I see your point and I do agree that it’s a bit ridiculous to expect casuals (whom ArenaNet’s target audience is) to get ascended gear and stay competitive in the game. It’s a lot easier to get BiS in this game than in any other MMO though, given the number of paths available to get the mats required to craft them. In saying that however, it still doesn’t constitute a grind in my opinion, as there is little repetitive activity required in achieving said gear.
We all hope that there will be alternate methods to obtaining the gear soon though.
Little repetitive activity? Pray tell how do you obtain different tiers of cloth with out either:
A) Grinding the mobs at the correct levels.
B) Grinding gold so you can buy it off the TP.
C) Opening your wallet to skip the grinding for gold process.
Because I do not want to even think of farming for different tiers of cloth from mobs for ascended armors. Because I no longer want to repeat content I’ve done a thousand times before for an insignificant reward.
This has become a Korean grinder. I’m now struggling to log in.
I don’t need to read it again. Every forum of every MMO is filled with complaints from people who play insane amounts of time and get bored of the game, but rather than recognizing that maybe they should take a break and try something else, claim that there’s something wrong with the game.
Sigh, people and their selective reading.
I’ve been playing the game since headstart without a break and I don’t understand the OP either.
Maybe the OPs opinions aren’t shared by everyone. Quite a few people in my guild were here at launch and have played continuously.
Your go to arguments are always Some Are/Some Are Not or Unwarranted Contrast. I dunno how anyone can even take you seriously anymore.
This is what you wrote:
“The fact that you’ve only been playing the game for 2 months makes it reasonable why you do not understand the OP. I suggest you read it again.”
The implication here is quite clear. You’re saying if this poster had played longer, he would understand the OP. But I’ve been playing longer and I don’t.
And you know, you’re not my target audience for posts. It makes not one lick of difference if you take me seriously or not. But if you’re going to post something as unfair as you did, I have every right to call you on it.
Reworded but still pretty much an unwarranted contrast. And it seems you don’t seem to get what the OP is saying either. The method by which ascended is acquired, its timing and intervals in being introduced, its (lack of) significance to the game in general, you seem to miss (or just selectively ignored) those points. But yea, you always were fond of using fallacies to defend Anet instead of properly addressing the validity of arguments. (deliberate ad hominem)
Just noticed that the OP changed the title of the thread. Perhaps now you’d understand his post a bit better? Ascended (or a new tier) begs for new content for it to be relevant/worthwhile, otherwise it just seems like a poor gimmick to make players stick a bit longer.
Moderators changed the title from ‘Stopped caring.’ to ‘New content required.’ I changed to again to some thing more exact as it probably needed it.
But you’re right. It’s not that I’m bored per say.
It’s that I’m tired. Tired of doing “new” unwarranted grindy content that is simply a repeat of old content. Tired of trying to keep up with being BiS so I can be optimal gear wise and worry about any lack of performance being skill related instead.
It’s a tremendous task alone to obtain the BiS gear for your main. It is an impossible task to gear all your alts. Adding onto it being no new interesting content. You either have to grind for gold or grind mobs for cloth with insignificant results.
It’s pretty much the straw that backs the camels back. There’s a point you cannot do it any more and lose interest.
Good to know this randomness of theirs isn’t bound to one continent.
Prower
I share pretty much the same feelings as you do haha. The only reason I really play now is because of my guild/friends.
Speaking of grinds you should check out the new PvP dailies. Such grind, much effort.
Anyway hope you come back eventually, LA trolling just isn’t the same without you xoxo.
<3 Asuna.
I’ve actually already have taken multiple breaks from Guild Wars 2; usually after I’ve done the meta for the major events and monthlies. Most of my guild has gone inactive. But I still have one irl friend dragging me back into the game when she wants to play.
Saw those new PVP dailies. They are a joke. Never bothered with them and only simply did the 4 regular ones for the daily completion. Too much effort chasing every achievement point now for me hah.
Just hoping Anet does some thing to renew interest in the game.
This has become a Korean grinder. I’m now struggling to log in.
You never played a korean grinder
You never played GW1
Actually yes I have. Your logic is flawed.
I think people are missing the point how ever. That being the sore lack of content lately and the massive increase in grind. The grind is so bad now. You have to ask what is the point of it any more?
You say do some thing you enjoy playing. But how many times can do you do that some thing with out variety until you despise doing that after the thousandth time? The game is limiting what you can do and what you can enjoy in game by tagging on grind after grind.
Also @ gaspara: I stopped playing pretend a long time ago. There are also better online games out there to play pretend in.
It was more an example of how the Crystal Desert would be the same content as we have now, just with a different paint job.
The exact thing you’ve said you’ve grown tired of.
Different paint job != stale paint job.
So basically, if the Crystal Desert was exactly like, say, Frostgorge Sound, just in a different setting, it would be OK?
With uniquely designed jumping puzzles, other puzzle gimmicks, lore and encounters reminiscent of the Crystal Desert from Guild Wars 1. Sure.
And now you’re getting somewhere on the constructive front.
How would the jumping puzzles be ‘uniquely’ designed? How would the encounters from GW1 be worked into GW2? How would the lore be presented?
Any thing that is not a re-skin as you were referring to.
The remains of Glint’s cave. The city of where the doppelganger was fought. The light puzzle transport gates. See how they stood the sands of time.
But if you’re referring to story lore. Lol. It’ll probably be bad as always. No one is really expecting much out of the story aspect of Guild Wars 2 any more. Trehearne and Scarlet saw to that.
Different paint job != stale paint job.
A new area is not just a re-release of old content with new achievement points and a poor rewards attached to it.
What content are you talking about being “re-release”?
The majority of content we have seen this year haven’t really been “re-release” (funnily enough one of the things that were, was SAB, which you claim to like..).
SAB had an entirely new world added to it that was twice (if not thrice) as long as the original world it released with. Not to mention an updated hub and story. New game mechanics. New (non-cash shop) weapons. Hardly a re-release.
You want perfect re-release example?
Tequatl.
The majority of the Fractals update.
Wintersday (Granted this one is a seasonal thing. But daaaamn at the lack of changes).

You got exploration now (unless you have 100% map completion, all jumping puzzles and mini-dungeons done ect). The only thing different would be the setting.
Well , I’ve done every thing you mentioned. So what now?

The old content is stale. The new content is just the old content slapped on with some stale paint.
So what would you define as new content?
The entirety of Crystal Desert.
Other than setting, what would be new about the Crystal Desert?
A new place to explore.

Well , I’ve done every thing you mentioned (if the legendary didn’t give it away). So what now?
The only thing to look forward to is SAB. Which is only temporary and currently not available.
So why could you enjoy it for a over a year, but suddenly can’t due to Fractals and/or Ascended Armor?
Because the grind for best in slot has become too excessive and tedious.
And also completely unnecessary, seeing as now when everything is out the difference is way too minor to change the outcome of 99% of the fights.
Incorrect. Every stat matters. Do you like doing 10% less damage?
I can get by with being mute and not communicating to my party members. Is that the optimal way to play? No.

Meaningful upgrades and purpose to WvW.

Because the grind for best in slot has become too excessive and tedious.
So because of the fact that they revamped Fractals and added Ascended Armor (which had been known for a YEAR before it actually came btw) you can no longer enjoy the content you enjoyed before?
Are you sure you really enjoyed the content before then? Because none of that content have been changed in the slightest with any of those releases (unless you only wanted to do fractals, but they haven’t really seen much change either (other than adding some extra challenge)).
The old content is stale. The new content is just the old content slapped on with some stale paint.
I started since head start of the game.
I used to log on every day to do the dailies.
I used to care about getting every achievement point I could.
I’ve obtained the commander feature.
I’ve hit 80 on eight characters.
I’ve crafted 5 ascended weapons for my main.
I’ve crafted a legendary for my main.
I’ve reached the top 700 in achievement points.
Then the fractal revamp hit. Then come the ascended armors.
Now I’ve stopped caring. I’m losing interest.
Because I do not want to even think of farming for different tiers of cloth from mobs for ascended armors. Because I no longer want to repeat content I’ve done a thousand times before for an insignificant reward.
This has become a Korean grinder. I’m now struggling to log in.
I get annoyed it logs me out after 24 hours since I logged in.
Please no. Not another (monthly) check list.
Wasn’t Evony that online web game that scammed people and were run by a shady gold selling company?
In other news. Tixx is now counter claiming for fraud!
As much as I like SAB getting the recognition it deserves. That competition line up was again pretty poor.
But the consolation is. If it wasn’t for SAB. Guild Wars 2 probably wouldn’t have received that award as the rest of the living story has been pretty poor and poorly received.
Of course it won, there’s was no competition in 2013 for MMOs.
MMO market does look pretty bleak at the moment.
I personally think it is the most immersive MMO I’ve ever played. Between all the NPC interactions, weather, day/night, etc., it’s completely immersive. Now I do agree that the personal story is crap and it breaks immersion.
My big beef with the game is the grind. I want the ascended and legendary stuffs but the grind makes my eyes bleed and it’s not fun in the least.
The problem is most NPCs are static and repeating the same lines minutes apart. Weather only occurs in static locations. You can hardly tell the difference between day or night. There is hardly any immersion to be found at all. Especially with the world broken up and not seamless with all the instanced zones.
For me. The game isn’t immersive at all. Sure it may have been for the first zone of the game. But that quickly disappeared in a combination of load screens, instanced zones, abrupt and instant way point travel, Lion’s Arch being the go-to city for every thing, etc.
After getting eight characters to level 80. To me it seems the game has dwindled into a check list of dailies, monthlies, current living world and gear grind.
The personal story was some what enjoyable until you reach Trehearne. Then it becomes a chore and uninteresting. The story doesn’t engage the player at all. The living story is about the same.
The world completion after the first character is another mundane check list. If it wasn’t for the heart quests. I’d probably do it on more than one character. The heart quests are full of uninspired kill x amount of enemies or interact with x amount of objects over and over. Then you look at how many heart quests you have to complete for world completion. That’s how many times you have to repeat the same tasks over and over.
World vs. World was fun for the first six months. But with little change to spice it up other than minor enhancements. It has lost its luster. Especially when the thrill of excitement of open world PVP is curved by who can enmass a larger zerg. SPvP is in the same boat with lack of change from a king of the hill(s) format.
The only thing left in this game that has me interested in is the jumping puzzles. Unpredictable whether you or your friends are going to make that next jump or not can leave you guessing and add to the thrill of this skill based challenge. This is really the only thing that makes Guild Wars 2 unique and it does it well.
EVERY weapon would be silly. Ele with Pistol = Mesmer, Warrior with Scepter = Guard and so on.
I think you’re wrong.
Ele with pistols:
Fire and ice bullets. Lightning gun. Quake barrage.
Warrior using a scepter:
“Want to see a magic trick?”

I am seeing more threads appearing describing the skill lag that we are experiencing.
This seems to affect sPvP, PvE and WvW-
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/at-the-heat-of-battle-I-can-not-attack/first#post3389865
That seems to be a bug when picking up/interacting with stuff. Like siege. I’ve been noticing it a lot lately too.
I’m confused on people’s stances and trying to understand.
Adding mounts would make the world too small?
Removing way points would make the world too big?
No. No mounts.
It drastically shrinks the world and reduces immersion when the game is sorely lacking immersion since theres no reason to go into any zone right now other than when a world boss pops, FSG, Queensdale, or Living Story flavor of the week zone.
I want my immersion, I want a large world.
Would you rather the removal of way points with out mounts then? Help make the world bigger and add to the immersion?
That greatly increase your out of combat speed and auto-dismount in combat.
As a compromise. All the waypoints in Tyria would be removed. Apart from the major cities.
In effect helping bring every one into a level playing field in being able to travel quickly whilst still maintaining some immersion to the game.
Seeing as Guild Wars 1 only had way points at outposts. It would also make death more undesirable (waypoint back to major cities) and would in effect promote a community.
Would people find this desirable?
It adds to the problem when they decided to send you a forum mail message every single time a thread is deleted or moved.
Do we really have to click each mail individually and wait for the page to load to delete 100 messages?
As expected, to me at least, the lag has gotten worse since the latest patch. This is a different type of lag, however. It happens when mostly doing the last part of the Nightmare Within stuff, the solo instancing in the tower with Marjory and Kasmeer. It’s out to maybe 1sec lag and is happening random, but often.
I’m still not sure what’s brought this on, but it’s not the typical event meta / zerg lag, it’s more like the lag we used to get in GW1, ie. it freezes for a bit then releases and catches up. Kind of like rubberbanding lag, but mobility is unaffected, just the skills.
I have not witness such lag. Lag has been fine lately.
Funnily enough I red that comic days ago.
Updated weekly, I usually read it tuesdays.
He updates every Sunday.
Well look at that, my comic of the day is somewhat related to this topic.

Funnily enough I red that comic days ago.
Then every one would have the same chance, events would be made into a epic occurrence instead of another waypoint check list and traveling some where is meaningful.
Then “every one” would be about 10 people, because that’s all that would play the game. Nobody wants to waste their entire playing time running to do a 1-minute event where you only need to auto attack anyway.
As said above, this is a ridiculous question only asked to generate response.
Considering a certain mmo that is doing way better and is more popular than Guild Wars 2 doesn’t have teleport waypoints littered all over the world.
Should Guild Wars 2 be merely treated as a casual game instead of a world to explore?
Granted one could not use the way points. But then getting to events and such would be at a disadvantage to those that do.
If every one were restricted from using waypoints. Then every one would have the same chance, events would be made into a epic occurrence instead of another waypoint check list and traveling some where is meaningful.
Time to go get “lucky” at the mystic forge in Lion’s Arch.
Yes? No? Why? Why not?
I’d rather they did to bring back immersion to the world. Instead of looking at load screens as abrupt transitions.
I did 15 as well, but didn’t bother to screen cap. I think 16 is really the highest you can go as the limit will allow.
He’s going to kill Scarlet Briar. Don’t get on his ‘Naughty’ list.
I think Scarlet has her own naughty list. Just ask Lord Faren.
I don’t consider it griefing.
The people who get annoyed by this are the people who complain about every thing.
You won’t see any action against some thing for “noise pollution”. Especially when there is a volume slider if it isn’t some thing you like.
The people who are doing what is described in the OP are doing so to grief, therefore it is griefing regardless of what you think or whether or not it successfully griefs you specifically. Your opinion does not in any way affect their intent, and ill-intent is what people are punished for. There is no way anybody spamming a single note on auto-cast for hours on end in the middle of a crowd is doing so with good intentions, which makes me wonder if you even read the OP in the first place.
I found this magically thing that mutes every one doing that.
Walk away.
Right, leaving and letting griefers be fixes things.
No, no. You don’t understand. Their fun is way more important that your fun. Their ability to interrupt your game, and make you walk away is inviolate. Your ability to play your game, and do what you want is unimportant.
You’re violating my game mode.
