All evades cost at least 4 initiative for .5 seconds of evasion, 4 initiative takes 4 seconds to regen, skill 2,3,4 and 5 all cost that same resource and Thieves don’t have the godly sword auto attacks of Revenant who also gets more evades per second regen with Shiro.
I know everyone is being sarcastic, but thief sword auto’s is something that desperately needs to be addressed. The aftercast is horrible.
I think my sarcasm tank is about used up, where I’m fairly certain Azure’s is bottomless. I’ll go ahead and throw in the towel.
If Sword’s auto is really that bad, then I’d also like to see it fixed for Thieves. Also, it’s difficult to argue as much against Stealth in the context of sPvP because of the objective mechanics. I’ve never liked how it was implemented in this game, but I don’t think it’s all that bad for sPvP. I also think that if a Thief drops a big red circle next to you that they have to stand in, they should be punished hard for that level of hubris, not given an extra 50% damage reduction.
I will accept victory in this duel of wits for now (I guess? Is it wit? What is this-)
Sword auto is terrible. It’s warrior-sword-slow on a class made of glass.
I also dont see “red circle” as hubris. 99% (some exaggeration included) of the time, when a thief drops SR its because his utilities are in a position that he will die if he stays exposed.
Not a “come challenge me, I dare you.” Hell, I’d love to be able to put SR three miles away so I dont get illusionary waved, because more often than not I’m not fighting against a wall because mobility.
I’d even go a step further and say I’d give up stealth for more than three seconds altogether if I could. But, seeing as how thieves are glass, they get forced to give up dps and sit in invisibility circles instead of actually fighting, which only happens to kitten off the opponents too.
It also doesnt help that the sudden prevalence of reveal now makes it harder for us to stay stealthed, which is more or less just added pressure for using a mechanic that is the only means of staying alive.
I’d love to not have SR on my utility bar and Shadow Arts not slotted without sweating profusely

the only time thief can kill you easily is if you are in full berserker.
add soem valkyr and soldier gear to your build. and theif’s dmg to you drops off massively.
my necro can literally ignore a thief that attacks me. soldier/valkyr build for necro with full vamperic build.
my revenant has more hp and evasion. and can massacre the thief in a head to head brawl. unless thief is running condition build, it will lose.
my rev is berserker/soldier buildmy ranger literally laughs as my pet makes their stealth WORTHLESS and my vines, traps, and longbow lays WASTE to the theif.
my ranger is berserker/valkyr buildi focus on dmg, with toughness. sure i sacrifice a bit of offense. but considering it makes it so theif can’t hurt me at all. its easily worth it.
learn to play. otherwise the first time u fight a fear necro, or a condition mesmer, or a GS/rifle warrior. you gonna be crying again.
(seriously. fear necro will fear you off cliffs. condition mesmers are JUST A PAIN TO FIGHT. and GS/rifle warrior. you lose hp fast)so stop using berserker. and stop acting like a 6 year old.

Thief is op though, stealth > any skill anyone can ever use.
It doesnt even matter that they can’t fight bunkers, they’re only meant to decap anyway. Developers said so.
If raids are balanced around ascended gear (meaning that %5 extra performance over exotic might make a difference), and if combat boosts are allowed in said raids (like Strength/Armor), then yes it will be a P2W scenario.
(this has nothing to do with PvP p2w tho)

If only Thieves had some form of mobility or evasion, I guess they wouldn’t need to crutch on stealth as a supremely defensive mechanic, and not just use it as a utility. Missed design opportunity, I guess.

They could have even made it so if they decided to use this mobility it would take priority over their attacks so they wouldnt be able to dps when using it.

In fact, maybe that wouldnt be enough, maybe it should deplete some kind of pool that their attacks needed to work, so that if they decided to use it they wouldnt be able to attack fully for a few seconds afterward.

The term “p2w” has been so watered down that people try to apply it to anything. Name another MMO that gives you a shot at winning in PvP for not purchasing the expac. It’s an expac.
P2W would be if you could buy a 10% increased damage buff for sPvP with gems that lasted a week. Or pay more for a 20% increased damage buff. You pay regularly for some buff/unique gear/whatever in order to win. Needing an expansion for an optimal build that will win you tournaments isn’t P2W.
I agree with this in the sense that people seem to be desperate to attribute their inadequacies at a video game to anything other than personal failings (and financial disparity is an excellent reason to claim that losses are not your fault)

Core warrior is amazing.
I run Axe/Shield with GS, Zerker Amulet and Str/Disc/Defense.
Ruin everything up close, reflect pew rangers.
I have no reason to make my synergy horrid by trying to figure out how to incorporate Berserker line.
I happen to think Warrior is perfectly balanced and Berserker is a direct nerf.
So I play warrior in pvp, yes. I dont run zerker line though. it ruins my synergy.

I created this thread because I was bored and tired of all the thief nerfs and I wanted to see people’s reaction when I ask for more nerfs.
I still lose sometimes as thief, but most thieves cant beat me.

Since the thief requires far more skill to successfully play than most of the other classes (Revenant might give it a run for its money with how much you need to keep track of) I’m all for more nerfs because if thieves still can be found in PvP performing well then it’s clearly too easy as is.

Jeez, that stealth so strong (hides engi, ranger, guardian, warrior (that was fun), Revenant (that was fun too), mesmer and necro). Stealth too strong, nerf Thief Stealth.

I guess the days of just dropping that in the middle of everyone, being relatively fine under pressure, then being able to run around invisible afterwards for a fairly lengthy period of time must be over. How incredibly unfortunate.

i see this in another topic and i think is a good idea:
Thief:
->Shadow refuge: Add protection on activation and pulse blindness on shadow refuge (1 second pulse) increase healing to 3000.
->Pistol skill headshot: add knockdown duration 1 secondProtection and pulse blindness? lolnope. That would be ridiculous to be honest. All SR needs is the addition of stability for the duration of the field… That is literally all I’d change with it.
As for KD with headshot? Again lolnope… I’ts fine as it is.
stability is nonsense, and worse than pulse blindness because now even the ranged knockbacks wont work.

are you kittening kittenting me? Thieves are the most overpowered class on this patch along with mesmers and you want 50% dmg reduction in stealth which is already the most kittened mechanic in the game by far.
stealth has no counterplay in this game and is the cheapest and most overpowered and certain disengage and a thief/mesmer/scrapper can just reset fights forever until they get a good opening
thief gameplay in a nutshell: get a bad opening? Stealth, reset fight, repeat until you get a good opening, spam 3 if you;‘re d/p or s/d or spam 5 if you’re staff thief with some dodges inbetween
thief is currently so kittening overpowered and braindead i have no kittening words what were arena net thinking ? oh right, they weren’t. They have more condi removals than elementalists , do insane dmg, unhindered by any kinds of slow/immobilization, the most stun breakers (steal isnt a stunbreaker but it does just the same thing, shadow step is 2 , infiltration signet if you run it is 3) with low cds huge kittening joke
same with mesmer except they have more dmg and less condi removal but in general are the same cancer and easy mode kitten

as far as topic goes, considering all the aoe and amount of revealed, yeah 50% seems reasonable… unless they nerf all other classes aoe/dmg/reveals (which won’t even happen)
