Sunfish actually did the the most efficient thing since proving a negative is kind of hard.
You’re asking him to prove that something doesn’t happen within a timespan. The only feasible way to present evidence of that is to provide video evidence with a timer in between air procs.
Even then he can’t prove it’s not happening, he can only provide a body of evidence that favors his claim. He is bringing it up on the forums for others and the devs to verify if it’s accurate, he could just have filled out a bug report, but this is more efficient in getting turn around since the forums have higher visibility.
Whether it’s actually an issue or not is irrelevant when reality is that this is one of the best ways to deliver the message if it is an issue since you can’t prove a negative and having other players back up your claim is the best kind of evidence you could provide unless you are capable of spending time to produce a video.
All of that is well and good, but if you’re going to make a claim that something is not working as intended, you should have some kind of concrete evidence supporting that claim before asking for a field test.
I honestly don’t care whether it’s broken or not. If you say it is, and want devs to fix it, it stands to reason that something led you to that conclusion. Asking someone to investigate a whim is an insult to both their time and yours.

If you block a thief, 90% of the time he is behind you. Attack into that space and eat a front backstab. You have won the fight.

I really don’t see stealth as being as much of a problem as everyone seems to regard it. I have and enjoy my thief, but I do not main it, I play other classes in PvP more often than my thief. Thieves are exceptionally squishy, and they still take damage while stealthed, so I put down as many AOE’s as possible when they stealth to keep the pressure on them and force the thief into the defensive. Also, just blocking one or two backstabs in a fight is huge, because time is against a thief in a fight due to them being so squishy.

It honestly is the reason I quit. Getting insta gibbed by auto attacks and 4 fire/air sigils in a few seconds EVERY few seconds = no room for skill or counter play. It really is brainless. Unavoidable SPIKE damage. Celestial isn’t even that OP compared to these. I would make the icd 10 seconds for air and fire.
If you’re lasting more than a few seconds and are taking spike damage (that isnt instagib btw), the build they’re hitting you with is glass and you should adjust accordingly.

From stealthed person perspective: it seems like a huge nerf, but from the other side, if you are a bit skillful you can reapply stealth when your enemy starts blocking and let them waste their block.
Good players do that now.
Also, this would make DPS Guards even more of a curb stomp matchup against thieves because of Aegis.
Yeah, guards and some rangers are the only classes I really have trouble with on my thief, but that’s fine, every class should have some class/builds that directly counter them. As for fighting thieves, they can be difficult at times on any of my other characters, but they never feel overpowered. I just rely heavily on AOE’s and blocks when fighting them to keep pressure up, seems to work fine most times.
This and general autoattack fishing is all you need to do to fight thieves, but “nobody” cares about that nonsense.

Thieves are exceptionally squishy, their only survival is their ability to avoid damage via blinds, stealth, and evasion. Removing or changing this would seriously damage the class’s survivability.
Anet knows. Gamers who dont play thief do not.

Nothing substantial. Class is okay, but people that can’t wrap their heads around stealth are extremely kitten right now.
That and they’re stupidly useless against DPS guards in mid tier play, but I can take that disadvantage personally.
Gamers nowadays are just not very sportlike. Normal people do not like to own noobs, they prefer competitive matches, but unfortunately, normal people are not left in online gaming anymore, and its a computer nerd culture now.

Black Powder uses 6 initiative. You have to recast it every 4 seconds to keep enemies in the TINY bubble blind.
Infusion of shadow only gives you 2 initiative back from stealth. Using heartseeker to get into stealth costs you 3 initiative.
You lose 7 initiative every time you pull off this combo with Infusion of shadow.
You can’t keep Black Powder up indefinitely using the tactics he described or even keep it up past 8-12 seconds. In short the original poster is lying, posting misinformation or is uninformed.
Wrong. Did you factor in the 3 second stealth which you can sit out and regenerate initiative? Just tested it myself, you actually can keep this combo up permanently or at least near permanently. OP is actually right about that.
Even if you had godlike timing and managed to use Heartseeker 3.99 seconds into Blinding powders effect and then sat in stealth for 3 seconds doing nothing to regain back 3 imitative your still losing initiative each time you do this combo.
So this tactic requires you to sit in stealth the entire 3 seconds while damaging no enemies to work?
I edited my post with the exact calculation. With lag and minor good timing it’s not that hard. Mind you, I still think the OP is wrong and this combo is fine. Still it is doable.
Why in gods name someone would willingly level like that though is beyond me. There are way faster ways, not to mention killing higher level targets is not ideal. (That said, I did run into exactly that problem since enemys 10 levels higher become immune back when I leveled my Thief alt. Hey it was 2013 and exploring was fun).
Cyninja and Honest Thief Players:
I did some investigation and found this: does it still work? Does it give thief more initiative regeneration? or less initiative regeneration? It is a High Initiative Regeneration build.
Sure does work, but you hit like a wet noodle and heal just as effectively. Plus, you give up all your evasion so in the event you get interrupted, controlled or dazed, say bb to your health.
Its’ good for pve where things dont think, but anything that requires you to dodge will ruin you.

Ps: if you’re worried about your ability to 1v1, arrange some duels with a friend on the classes you struggle with. Remember though, you’re a thief – fighting dirty and stabbing someone in the back as they fight your friend and running away after is what we’re supposed to do, leave the ‘honorable duel’ idea to the warriors & guards.

Much of the power of thieves comes from the opponent not being aware of them for the first second of the fight. You’re going to get all kinds of cancer-filled garbage filling your IM box, but that just means you’re doing it right.
Just don’t get embittered. Dueling is your friend also.
If you just walk backwards and swing your weapon in most cases thief won’t have enough stealth time to backstab you, so he will wwaste it on facestab or just run out of stealth. SA thieves are sure annoying as hell, but backstab itself should be totally fine for anyone who played thief ever once.
Why the emphasis on backstab? Just a facestabbing thief can kill you and just stealth when you try to counter him. Facestab, stealth, facestab, stealth. You die either way.
Don’t pretend there’s a punishment for missing a backstab. It hardly matters.
There’s a team getting actual money to make sure things are balanced.
They needed to be sacked before the game got released. Stealth is the biggest mistake any game can make. I say this as a Dark Age of Camelot shadowblade (rogue) of four years.
Please don’t compare DAoC or WoW, or any other MMO stealth to GW2 stealth. They are not even close to similar.

If Anet wants to scrap the core mechanic of a class because people cant deal with a squishy med-armor vanishing for 3-10 seconds for at the very most three times in succession, go for it.
Gameplay for a thief becomes very difficult when the opponent knows he’s there and is expecting him, and since it is incredibly stupid to try to argue “Op wasn’t paying attention, made critical judgement errors” (even when it’s true), not even gonna bother, especially when the advocates for stealth removal think the balancing team should be fired for their heresy. Lol.
Feel free to continue arguing that it’s ruining the game. I get downed by too many good players to care.
Some thieves I’ve met were gentlemen but way more often the ones I see and remember were behaving like total kittenes deriving their pleasure out of others misery. Many of my friends told me the trollish aspect available from that profession is what made them want to play it. It’s a troll kit given flesh.
+1 to this though. Pretty sure this is only aggravating the problem. The nice-natured thieves are suffering for it though; so this shouldnt ever be a driving force for nerf-calling, just as an aside.

You get a 50% chance to proc this on a critical hit. Even if your crit chance was 100% (which is likely is not) getting a proc every 5 seconds is lucky.
So youll need specific proof that the Internal Cooldown is 5 seconds.

I want to know what class / build has issues clearing conditions and dodging out of a aoe field, because a double dodge usually allows you to dodge Completely over most AOE fields in the game and every class has condi purging.
There needs to be information on this. It’s not obstructive to just not blindly agree with what the OP is saying because he has not provided a specific case of this happening.

The company should have explained the UI and event monitor better and how it works in respect to the maps are on, as no one seems to figure out how events work together to open up key areas and thing don’t get done on a map in a timely manner and places that we need opened such as, Balthazar Temple, Incendio Templum, COE, COF to name a few, are closed all day long as everyone ignores events as they don’t know they are all related in some way.
If people cant figure out how a meta event works, expecting them to figure out how to use the UI and/or an event menu would be a fruitless endeavor.
All the meta info is on the wiki. Nobody reads.
If you have enough people that care to event launch though, a handful of players can do the whole thing on their own, minus some taxing bosses.
RE The new changes to NPE:
Leveling up is so painful now compared to what it was, that my alts are all leveled with tomes obtained from PVP.
I refuse to suffer.
I cant imagine how bad a brand new player has it, having to unlock vistas and the trading post and stuff incrementally because the focus group chosen to playtest GW2 had literacy and comprehension deficiencies and having too many options to sift through at the get-go somehow made people not want to play the game.
They’re godkitten UIs. Don’t open them if you don’t know what they do, and read the wiki. Jesus.

As a charr player and this game’s informal joke race, I just gave up any hope of seeing them come up with charr hair styles that don’t belong in a 1980’s hair metal band.
The charr armies are beset by several terrible foes, none of which more so than the occasional lack of hair spray.
The charr are soldiers, one whould expect “some” hair styles to reflect that somewhat.

Which is fine for your main hand set…but who slots p/p in secondary? Who would take a lousy bleed and meh spammable damage over mobility/AoE poison? Over an on demand blast finisher? Over on demand evades??? Sure the immobilize is nice to have with p/p, but if you go invisible a SB can do that too…so I fail to see how SB is miles behind p/p?
But I am completely and totally biased, as thief SB is my favorite weapon out of any available for any profession. So I am not intending on offending anyone who likes p/p…I just love my SB more.

To be fair, there are at the very least two pages of completely normal hair for each race that is lore-loyal.
I’m here to add my voice into the choir of discontent about the new hairstyles. Charr are:

What can the forums say about the roles of a thief in WvW? Because some thief says that it’s better to solo or roam but some also says to stick with the zerg. What are your opinions regarding these 2 choices? Solo/roam or stick with the zerg?
Both. Thieves excel at roaming and secondary objectives. In the zerg, stick around the outside to put down stragglers or enemies trying to reset.
Game is Still currently too complex to allow simplistic button mapping for controllers, and too demanding in terms of open world and world bosses.
I think expecting that the new hairstyles they drop for the races to be perfectly compatible with every helmet and facegear out there is a tall order to fill. The hair looks nice without the mask, so either use the mask and a non clipping hair or the hair without the mask.

Whe u create new faces, they sometimes clip whith themselves (eyeballs now lately on the female one).
If true, I would say that’s a a quality issue. Also not sure about the neck issue.
If the faces have clipping issues on their own, then conceded, but still think asking them to run through every armor helm in the game to make sure that they all work is both limiting and unnecessary in terms of quality assurance.
Or I should be able to choose which are included in the pool and which are not.

Kite, know what Guard utilities are, poison uptime, when they blow shelter and virtue recharge burst them and make them panic.
If they hit you first, disengage Dont blow initiative, poke at them from far range until they blow utilities.
get their mace crack. If you land it on them you win. For this reason its best to run 6 in trickery so you can steal every 21 seconds.
