As mentioned above MF generally isn’t a issue, I run Arah with MF gear and I die the least out of the group when I’m the only one using MF gear…as a thief…in Arah.
Some of us have this bug where the TC steals our gold and either 1) doesn’t give us our item or 2) doesn’t give us our gold back on a bid we placed (not a purchase, a bid).
For those of us who are suffering from this bug I suggest GMs give us back what we lost, with the new gear out its more important then ever to get our TC purchases or be able to cancel bids.
And yes, I’m speaking from experience. I’m currently suffering from this and need that gold from my bid which the TC stole to help complete my new gear.
Sounds like the OP needs to make a dedicated PvE/Dungeon build.
Heck, I’m a thief and Orr is a total cakewalk, mass CC? no problem!
Champions? takes too long to kill but I can solo them.
Events? Depends on the event but bar temples I can generally solo those too.
Tell me when the next organized attempt is happening. I’ll make time for it.
This is probably the easiest and best thing Anet could implement.
It would benefit PvP, it would benefit PvE.
It also means they could start looking at buffing X weapon sets instead of nerfing them into mediocrity (S/D for the thief is the perfect example as it was a perma-daze build but they nerfed it so bad it lost any competitive edge it used to have.)
It would be nice, I’ve had a similar problem where a simple rollback would have helped.
I’d like to see something like this implemented, GW2 has some pretty good parts to it but skill diversity (which ultimately leads to a lack of the holy trinity of MMORPG roles) is not one of them which in turn feeds into some pretty trashy traits and skill mechanics (because they don’t synergize properly).
My Sylvar’s skin is white but I purposely left her hands red, now it looks like she’s got blood on her hands!
The invuln shouldn’t be taken lightly. It is extremely useful (the turrets are more of a bonus and not the main feature).
Exactly, I use it in the instance where I can’t dodge that attack that will kill me al la lupis in Arah.

But since you get exp twice, maybe that’s impossible, and they are actually two creatures, one spawning right in place of the other when you kill the armored one, so it looks like it’s the same.

So basically RAIDs of previous 1 time events.
I support this for 2 reasons.
1) one time events aren’t doable on Anets time schedule all the time. People will miss out on them.
2) it gets larger groups to coordinate which could be immensely fun.
In order to stop farming these events upon completion these events could be locked for the remainder of the month.
Free Waypoint travel to NEAREST waypoint could be useful and not easily exploitable.
Exactly how it should work, armor upkeep is enough of a punishment upon death.
If you pay attention, you see that their shell starts to lose bits and pieces and when the healt of the mobs disappear, you see that the rest of the shell disappear too, leaving to you kill off the more defensless mob for good.
I do not mind the mechanic, but maybe it would be easier for some to understand if the shell had it’s own health bar above the mob’s health bar.
Agreed, most games show a dual health bar, using 2 different colored bars or 2 separate bars.
I think its fair.
On a vet mob?
If this was a champion mob, okay they’re supposed to be uber and you’re not supposed to solo them.
Once you “kill” them once, their armour breaks off, that’s why their health “resets”.

So not only do they have AoE, can one shot, spawn loads of face huggers, evade constantly and have a ranged auto attack but you have to kill them TWICE?
That’s so dumb…who thought that was balanced as a vet mob?
This is annoying on most mobs but it’s manageable but when it comes to your new area “Sea of Sorrows” there’s your Veteran Karka mobs.
These things spawn loads of little “face hugging” crabs, deal respectable damage wit their auto attacks, have AoE and can one shot you with their roll.
Okay, this is still manageable…you’ve given us a Vet that functions like a Champion…annoying (you need to make these bad boys drop better loot if you’re gonna make them this strong) but as I said…manageable.
When they are down to their last 1/8th of health and I’m about to kill them followed by them resetting their health for no apparent reason I start to draw the line in the sand. If you’re gonna make overpowered vet mobs that’s fine but you better make kitten sure they don’t glitch out.
Please remove the health reset in battle for mobs.
@Phantom~some do some don’t ..to each his own. And to that end, you can play in GW2 without playing in Raids, if the idea came to fruition. Saying go play some other game that is dried out and old just cause it doesn’t fit with your play style is not helpful to anyone’s cause.
@lynspottery~ I am sure no one “here” wants to copy WoW, as that seems to be the GW way for most. I was attracted to GW2 cause I got the impression that if you participate with something you would get something for your efforts, like the dungeons give out tokens to get the gear(none of this running it for your buddies to gear up while you get nothing week after week). I do not support the idea of following WoW with “Rolling” for loot.
Rolling for loot was the most idiotic thing Ive seen implemented in a MMORPG ever. Seriously, who thought that craptacular system up?
This is why I just don’t care anymore. There were massive lags and issues with the NPCs. Why should I invest my time into their event if they can’t even have it working? Especially if its a 1 time event.
Female Sylvari, SYlvari seem fairly mischevious to me and the accent/“wonder and amazement” they have supports this.
I like the concept but I feel it overlaps with the warrior a tad too much, it could definitely be refined into its own niche role though.
Maybe instead of sigils they get disciplines which give passive buffs and when activated boost a specific aspect of the class for the duration with a drawback at the end of the duration.
S/P – 0/30/0/20/20 + Crit/Vit or Tough gear. Boon sharing + good survivability + insane consistent AoE damage.
Good stat allocation, the gear should be power/tough/vit
you definitely need something funky for accessories like emerald orichalcum insert name of the berserker.
As for traits, it depends. The build is pretty versatile, you can go for signets of power+signet use+trickster and spam PW+Signet of Malice in PvE for the ultimate “I’m a thief and I can face tank better then your silly bunker guardian” build.
Or you can focus more on control using black powder constantly for blind fields and let the auto attack do all the damage (which at the very least is on par with PW, if not slightly higher)

I’d mix them, you still need a crit chance that’s respectable but valk gear gives you the survivability needed to not utterly fail in dungeons.
Unless they changed it legendaries are still marginally better (by marginal I mean the difference isn’t worth the investment from a numbers perspective).
That’s besides the point though, the precursors are indeed expensive…silly expensive.
There is no now what. Plinx was the only farmable area. Now we’re all forced back to the bronze age.
Yeah rewards for 1 time events are bad. They should have thought up a better system.
Pistol Whip evades the whole channel time, the time in which the thief swings his sword exactly.
The evade is quite long and reliable. The stun, also, makes sure that about an half of your whole channel time lands, it isn’t meant to be an interrupt.
The only skill which is similiar to Pistol Whip is Blurried Frenzy of Mesmer, which deals less damage, has no stun, roots you in place but has a bit longer invulnerability. No one said that Blurred Frenzy is a bad skill because it deals low damage.
The evade can happen anytime during the channel but you’re still susceptible to being attacked while using it.
S/P does both really well.
If you decide to use Haste+PW you can easily burst down 16-22k health but aren’t limited to that, it can also put out consistent DPS and control. The only major issue is that in PvP its not overly viable while in PvE its incredibly viable.
Alright OP, then refund me for my superior traveler/pirate runes I have which I spent 2.5g on.
S/P does very well in PvE. I’m lvl 80 and I own Orr, nothing there bar trying to solo group events/champions kills me if I play properly.
In dungeons I’m incredibly strong with high dps and often times I can out tank warriors and guardians with Pistol Whip+Signet of Malice.

I wouldn’t suspect Carrion gear to be very good for P/P, as Unload would be the primary damage skill. Especially given P/P doesn’t have a way to enter stealth for a reliable stacking of bleeds with Sneak Attack.
I don’t know, maybe I’m underestimating how much bleeds would stack up?
I will have to look into my build too… can I deal with nothing in Acrobatics? I don’t know!
You’re not, at most you’ll stack 10 bleeds (more likely 5) using vital shot bar stealth for sneak attack.
Berserker gear would be better bar dungeons where your berserker gear makes you a total liability.
As a BS thief you need to feint and close in for the kill. As a S/P thief I just have 2 shadow step in, pop haste and PW x2 for 22k dmg to burst him down. If they don’t know what you can do yeah…ownage.

i report anyone not doing what they are not supposed to be doing.. this game is new and is a mmo
and this dev is great imo , mmos change constantly sometimes drastically
next year it might be a totally different game

As for the OP, I agree. The bot problem isn’t as pronounced anymore and because of the nature of dungeons having overpowered mobs means bots won’t do nearly as good as if they’re botting in the open world.
Remove the DRs on Dungeons.
Keep them for world events (to encourage not farming the same event over and over).i guess i can agree with that.. i mean just farming regular pve bosses and mobs… event farming should be regulated i guess..
Ultimately the players will bypass the DR on World Events though al la Plinx. It mainly punishes lazy players and bots.
my buddy said they nerfed plinx last patch.. whatever that is.. i never did that event
Plinx is a chain of events which grants massive amounts of karma and potentially gold/exp in Cursed Shore.
They nerfed it into the ground with 2 different things.
1) Plinx takes a good 30-40 mins to reset
2) There’s fire raining at the Plinx event which deals substantial AoE damage (no source, it’s arbitrary fire raining down).
My map just says “World Completion” not “PVE World Completion.”
He’s correct. You should actually have to visit the whole world in order to complete the world map.
This utterly screws the low pop/low tier Wv3ers…
I’m on a high pop server (its almost always full) and my server’s tier is 1 or 2…not sure which but I don’t support the concept at all, everyone should have the ability to complete their maps. Not just those high pop servers who can steamroll and make it safe to get the completion.

The autoattack has lower dps than Pistol Whip, of course. Just test it out.
In actual testing, the opposite is true.

On a really good PW I’ll crit 11 (average is 8k)
On a auto attack cycle I’ll deal 4-12k…depending on the crits (average is 6-8k)

I have this problem a lot too, maybe give us the option to make our mouse pointer any color we want. I’d make it obnoxious like a neon pink so at least I don’t lose where the bloody thing ends up (provided it doesn’t go invisible in all the effects).
I support this to a degree. I mean if you want to run with me in Arah you better have full exotics or you’ll be a burden…on that note if the dungeon doesn’t require full exotics I simply won’t care.
This would be a useful tool but any tool can be turned into a weapon.
Thieves have it hard in PvE, it’s certainly not a faceroll class.
I’d suggest using P/D as your secondary and kiting, using Dancing Dagger to perma cripple. It’s safe and you let the bleeds kill the mobs. I did this till lvl 72.
Deadly Arts:
Improvisation – Stealing recharges the cooldown of all skills based on which stat you have traited into the most (trickery-tricks, shadow arts-deception, acrobatics-traps)
Critical Strikes:
Hidden Killer – +25% chance to critical hit while in stealth (guaranteed 100% is op for backstab builds)
Shadow Arts:
Slowed Pulse – bleed damage is reduced by 50% if you have 5 or more stacks of bleed
Power Shots – Increase Short Bow and Harpoon Gun range by 300
Acrobatics:
Descent of Shadows – release blinding powder after landing from a jump or fall
Vigorous Recovery – gain vigor when health is added to your life points (different from using healing skills)
Assassin’s Retreat – Gain stealth for 2 seconds each time you kill a foe.
Trickery:
Ricochet – changed to Armor Piercing Ammunition: Pistol attacks now pierce your foes.
New trait: signets passive remain on use and activated signets provide stun breaker
Or:
Activating a signet provides 2s stealth instead of 2 init.Replace random utility line being refreshed with using a utility from one line refreshes 1 or 2 random utilities from the next line. This may or may not include signet heal or basilisk poison
Some of us actually use those signets for Initiative xD
I use PW in PvE still but yeah, my auto attack usually does more damage or equal damage.
I support this as well, heck…I’d even support a auto deposit craftables in the bank.
I support this. I’d love to equip the heavy armor temple karma piece on my thief (through transmuting the appearance onto medium armor).
If someone is trying to charge you silver to do Arah they’re a tool and you should feel good that you’re not doing it with them.
The same goes for people who are overly specific about their requirements for dungeons, they’re tools, ignore them and have some fun.
