I think the biggest reward for wvw would be for a dev to actually post in this forum.
Bigger issue I have is with the lower level leathers, as they just don’t drop at all for a level 80 toon…
C0R hitting 5 targets brings it in line with other aoe skills, so that’s not so much an adjustment as a bug fix.
It doesn’t address the central issue in wvw, in that it hits like a truck at max range. Stopping after kittens doesn’t fix the damage issue- and anyone with half a brain can position themselves to hit the back lines with it and ignore any melee, I’ve been doing this for years on a variety of classes, it’s not hard to avoid the melee train whilst on a squishie.
They need to take the plunge and separate out skills between wvw, pve, and pvp- then they can balance skills for pvp to their hearts content without ruining builds for pve players, who can’t switch builds at the drop of a hat by swopping one free amulet.
What irritates me is that I have played enough to get experience for 3 more masteries but lack the actual mastery points because I have no luck in the adventures. I frankly can’t attempt the bug one anymore because it makes me motion sick so I need to move on. I’ve tried to get the one in the pit but it is never available due to meta’s running.
You can solo the Reaver’s meta … be prepared to die once or twice in the fight in the ruins (where the two NPCs split) and thus unlock it yourself. Doesn’t take too long and if you have a lamp/apple and use map chat to announce what you are doing you probably won’t be alone the whole journey which helps a lot with mortar running.
That pretty much describes why this gating is so bad. Unless you have plenty of time and are on when you can trigger the event, do the event, and then finally unlock the ‘adventure’, you can’t even access the kitten things.
Nvm, let me know when they sort these out or add some decent ones in Tyria that aren’t gated behind JPs.
You won’t have enough laurels to equip all your toons- welcome to time gated content.
Do dungeons for gear, or Orr temples, depending on the stats you want.
Do low level fractals for the ascended rings, no one will likely notice that you’re in the lower level gears.
Take out card, purchase gems, convert to gold, buy materials, craft ascended or buy an exotic set.
Remember if you have to choose, do the weapon first before armor.
I’ve may have played a lot of hours, just not a lot all in a row and if it’s not the time those events spawn, guess it’s too bad for players like me.
They spawn on a rigid schedule and though Teq. is on a 4.5 hour cycle and Karka 3 (I think) it must be possible for you to be able to schedule one play session appropriately.
Maybe it’s different on NA (if you’re on NA) but on EU I get Teq. every evening and only once in the last several weeks did it fail and only for the first time yesterday did I find a map with only a handful of players after I got DCed off a full one.
So yes, their schedule is a bit of an issue but clearly there’s plenty of opportunities to get one.
For some people, ‘scheduling’ when they have to log on to a game just to get something they aren’t that interested in doing isn’t what they consider ‘fun’. It’s an imposition on their leisure time, being told ‘you must do this then’ in order to gain a mastery point that they require to unlock the masteries.
Other people might only be able to play between 9 and 10pm at night due to family etc – try scheduling a Teq around that. Others don’t want to spend their entire evening’s relaxation trying to get a taxi in to an event that has already started and is probably full when they log on.
Others have mainly played wvw, and have very few mastery points as a result (and strangely, no mastery points in wvw- fractals yes, locked behind JPs yes, but wvw nope). wvw players are also punished for exp they earn, as that counts towards nothing. And punished again, as you can only gain HP tokens on the toon you want to use them on, so basically you have to use a sub- optimal toon in wvw in order to get it up to scratch, harming your side’s chances.
I don’t like what they locked most of the points behind (adventures, kitten ..), so it’s made it easy for me to drift off to Guild Wars where I can play as I want.
Tyrian mastery points pack. I’d rather buy them than grind them out doing stuff I really dislike like gimmicks in stories or JPs and all the other selections like a whirlpool at Teq or trying to find the three worms…
And for H0T, a ‘skip stupid adventures’ mastery pack.
Edit: you would still have to grind out the exp to level them, the packs would just give you the mastery points (no achievement points either).
My GW2 experience today: log in, grab daily log in thing, craft from drops yesterday, log out, log 5 other a/cs for daily log in.
Think about what needs to be done for masteries. Do i feel like getting frustrated today? Nope, so no gated/timed/locked advantures then. Hmm, how about something in Tyria…mastery point in a JP with no WP when you die, nah, no chance for me to complete…how about entering story and doing stupid things, nah.
Nothing to keep me interested, don’t want to get frustrated on my relaxing day after some decent golf.
Logged out, played Guild Wars instead (the completely different game). Had a blast with my alliance and some great JQ battles against humans. Frustration level= zero.
Having played both, my ranger is currently back gathering dust. CA form can never be guaranteed to be available when you want it, and the heals just don’t feel that great- clunky is a good way to describe playing a druid. They get better the more static the fight, so not too terrible in pve or for pvd, but for fluid fights I didn’t like it at all.
My staff elite ele, on the other hand, can blast away happily and drop water fields while providing lots of other utility to the group, on the move.
For me, ele wins hands down. Which is a shame, as I do like playing ranger but there is a class that does things better for anything you can do on a ranger
I’ve lost interest in the game because of the H0T release and ‘new’ Deserted BL map for wvw. Oh, and to top it off the Tarrktun device decided that ‘randomly’ it can give me 6 lots of 25 shards then one 150 then 6 more 25..and then repeat the same feat later on. If I created a RNG that bad I’d be sacked- and if I could make sequences like that come up I’d have won the lottery by now. Considering it’s 100g and 250 ecto a go, you’d have thought there might be a better algorithm behind it- nope. Ho hum.
Gated/timed/locked ‘adventures’ that should be in some platform game, not GW2.
Scrolling down the list of available mastery points as per my achievement section, it appears I can spend 800 gold and get one tyria point, wait hours for a spawn on the off chance I notice the taxis and get in a good instance and manage to do something stupid to earn an achievement to get the point, or do lots of stupid things in stories 9 times (that’s if it works first time) that I hated first time and never want to repeat.
Luckily another game has Wintersday coming so I’ll go play that and just log in here for daily rewards.
Chinese whispers ‘play the way you want’: play the way you want: play if you want: play the way we want: play the way we tell you to: play what we tell you: play what we force you to…
The grind. I hate how to progress you now need to farm masteries. Hours and hours worth of brainless farming. That’s awful and unskillful game design right there. Maybe they should have created more maps instead of forcing us to do boring events over and over again to proceed.
I blame the SW trains, by which metrics Anet came to the decision that players like hours and hours of mindless farming. So they added more, and this time made sure that everyone (except the holy spvp, heaven forbid the esports are affected), especially wvw players, now get to spend their leisure time in pve grinding out masteries so they can get out of pve and back to what they enjoy (that will mainly be EB now, new BL maps= ghost towns).
Strikes me as a bit odd after 3 years of thread upon thread demanding new maps, then to see posters who did not participate in the discussion, giving this feedback. If you do not like larger maps, why didn’t you participate in the discussion?
Larger, more open maps, were asked for regularly, and I do not recall anyone asking not to make larger maps.
What discussion? And do you have to log on to two accounts to post basically the same answer in two different threads?
When exactly were we consulted or asked to give feedback that was listened to in the design and testing of the new maps? I remember seeing many threads asking for less gimmicks, less pve, etc and what we get is a lot of running around, huge map, loads of pve mobs and a cheese event in the middle of the map.
Where were you two with your feedback on this matter during the last 2+ years of discussion on the topic of new maps?
It is not like this is some new idea that they dropped out of the blue. This was overwhelmingly demanded via payer feedback.
I’m pretty sure they weren’t asked their opinion, nor invited to the mainly streamer only wvw BL testing session, so yes, this new map is pretty much out of the blue for the majority of players and almost no one was able to give feedback on the proposed design except for the few invited to the beta wvw tests- so where you get ‘overwhelmingly demanded via player feedback’ is anyone’s guess.
We asked for new maps, seeing as the old ones were over 3 years old. We didn’t ask for large expanses of mainly pve mobs, reduced rewards, chances of finding fights practically NIL and a cheese pve event in the middle of the map. Maybe you and the other testers should have asked the rest of us…
One of these new maps would be sufficient, 3 BL is just too much given the populations of most servers for most of the time.
In SFR today the BL were like ghost towns, with most people I chatted with saying they felt vast, pve based and empty, with contact with the enemy minimal as well as being a real pain if jumped by 2-3 enemies after running for so long to reach anywhere.
The balance doesn’t feel right- I felt like I was wasting my valuable leisure time meandering around some Ok scenery without gaining anything from it or even seeing any combat. Not to mention clocking up wexp to grind out those masteries might be a trifle difficult if there are either no enemies or some defending totally upgraded towers, etc.
Huge queues for EB incoming.
I’ve added Cerpin to my friends list.
I’m sure he won’t mind coming to help each of my 12+ pve based toons whenever I feel like (or more accurately, have rl time for) doing one of these challenges, and bringing some of his guild along too.
It might be the 200th request he gets but as it’s an MMO, and so he’s going to help us all whenever we ask, right?
Personally I’m looking forward to hearing all the moaning when people are bringing their 6th toon through, there is no one there, and they can’t progress as they struggle to even reach the mastery spot due to all the mobs (play a non-regen squishy and see how much fun those mobs are). it’s ok when you tick 400-500 hp and wipe conditions off without using any skill at all, not so much fun when you have to use condi clears for those stacks of torment and roots and panic while you wait for your heal to come off cooldown.
Having to fight your way all the way back there once again, whilst asking your wvw guild mates to come to pve to assist, doesn’t make for a fun guild experience- especially when it’s your 3rd or 4th main.
Still, not as bad as making proofs from wvw SOULBOUND, forcing wvw players to use the toon that you want to get to elite mastery (even if it’s only a once or twice a week main to fill a spot in a guild raid) instead of being able to main one whilst collecting points on another- and remember, we’re talking weeks or months of wvw to get those levels for each toon.
It takes so long to try and reach anything you don’t even bother, unless defenders are already in place it’s literally such a long run people give up and log off rather than waste so much time running between places (and fights, I remember wvw had fights, now it has pve mobs).
The daily rewards aren’t too bad actually since you could just decide to not open the chest until you want the boost. It’s slightly annoying.
Those proofs of heroics being soulbound though… I understand why but that could be troublesome.
Is that actually correct? So not only do we have to do some huge amount of levels, but we have to do them on that character only?
I do wonder who think these things up…obviously not someone who enjoys playing more than one class in wvw!
Soooo, do I have to complete my story before getting to play the expansion?
Basically, yes. And if you have more than one toon, you get to listen to the non-skippable bits every time. And it’s quite long so make sure you’re free for the time required to get through it.
Worst bit about having to go into pve to unlock stuff is my ele build isn’t suited to pve at all, so now I’m faced with making another armor set and trinkets just so I can go and be bored in some pve rat maze with JP’s (URGH I HATE JPs). Which isn’t going to happen.
Those maguuma mobs are fine for heavies, but hit like trucks on my squishy light armor toons.
Faced with either sticking to one class and getting elite sometime before Xmas or playing my usual rotation and never unlocking the elite skills on them, it’s not really that appealing to play at all.
Early look at the BL maps tell me they are way too big with way too much running – if you get killed and have to respawn that run gets real boring real fast, especially after the 10th thief pairing jump you on your way back.
30 minutes in the new BL and I ran for cover in EB.
I feel server merges coming if they can ever solve the map cap problem – originally wvw was supposed to cater for 100+ a side, we’re at about 60 or so.
I’m sure I’ll appreciate the new elite if I ever face the grind, but for now it’s more GW for me and less (if any) gw2.
Didn’t they say at one point that everyone would get the new elite and skills- now it’s behind a massive grind and pay wall, as none HoT players don’t get elites either…
Standing next to them really isn’t all that hard if they are invuln to player damage- two cannons will make short work of your 20 man blob when added to two sup AC. It’s also very easy to dodge in, fire cannon, dodge out.
LOL @ People who think 200 Ranks is not achievable. This is like one weekend with a birthday booster.
Yeah, one weekend where you play for 72 hours straight.
I earned 60 ranks in 12 hours of WvW last weekend using a booster. At that same rate, I could have hit 200 in 42 hours using boosters.
I think I average 1.5 ranks with a booster during a wvw session (2-4 hours, sometimes longer). Let’s be generous, and say 2, at about one per 1.5 hours. So 200 ranks would take around 300 hours, which is 100 + days where I play wvw.
The problem is caused by people such as you claiming 60 ranks in 12 hours with a booster which forces the devs to work on a solution which makes it harder to achieve for the average player due to outliers like you.
Join a wvw focused guild, get on their ts, and discuss to your hearts content.

How long does it take to run a character from starter zone (or lion’s arch) to the entrance for the new places? As most of my level 80 wvw toons have like 3% map completion.
An Asura gate from LA would have been nice…
Won’t be making one any time soon, will take too long to unlock elites and masteries for my other toons that I currently use in wvw.
Maybe in 3 year’s time I’ll roll a human one.
I guess it’s coin flipping time, time to choose one class and stick to it, as I don’t think I’ll have the inclination to gather 400 points twice (well, I mainly use two classes every day, and at least three others regularly, and was looking forward to engi elite as well).
Nice we can in theory get them in wvw, but that timescale looks like it’s ‘choose one class’ or die of boredom in pve.
Just use that wonderful button and get rid of it. There are lots of other useless items in the game- do you stockpile that rubbish too?
Thanks!
Next on the list to fix, for pvp and wvw, is the loooooonnnnngggg activation times on pets F2 skills. Especially for wvw, where targets are so far away by the time 1.5 seconds passes they may as well be on another borderland. Not so much of a problem in spvp where people tend to stand on circles…
When F2’s are down to 1/4 or at max 1/2 second activation time I might be tempted to try and ranger in spvp again, or even wvw roaming.
I still feel my ele is more use than a healing ranger ( as well as being able to tag enemies for loot).
OS was an awful place full of gankers and other pond life who got their jollies preventing others from finishing a JP.
I’m glad it got removed from the maps and also glad the rewards were nerfed hard.
They should remove it entirely and tack it on to one of the new maps as a pve area/JP.
Sounds like a reasonable move, dependent on the number of these things you need to unlock elites on each of your toons.
They might also fiddle with wvw exp rates for capping, killing etc so until we see all the changes I’m not cheering too loudly.
Looks like EoTM might become very popular as that will be a lot faster unlock than guarding a tower for 6 hours which rewards nothing. Going to make finding people to guard and scout a little hard for a few months…
A good move from Anet though, credit where credit is due, they have listened (for once) and come up with a workable solution.
Thanks Anet.
So you want people to stand like a lemon in a circle? Sounds a wonderful way to spend an evening, highly entertaining.
Idea favours stacked servers, who have more bodies available to do this.
Idea also favours putting alts in other servers to stack a map so that they can’t spare people to do it.
Also favours logging in alts to sit on circles with a macro to hit a skill every 5 minutes to ensure it doesn’t disconnect.
If you want to play ‘stand in a ring’, go play spvp.
As my maths teacher used to say ‘there are lies, kitten lies, and statistics’.
The move still feels like even more of a downgrade in wvw priority- after all, after 3 weeks, how many devs are going to be available to fix things on a Saturday night/Sunday morning for things going wrong in wvw?
Did they appoint more to work permanently over the weekends to deal with wvw, or will wvw be ignored until after the weekend?
Maybe patching in HoT on Tuesday would have been the sensible option, along with wvw, which would give them all week to fix things and throw in patches, and allow wvw the same experience as pve, rather than feel like something tacked on that they moved as it was inconveniently in the way of pve and spvp release.
And maybe if you had communicated ‘Plan A’ clearly in advance you wouldn’t face such a kittenstorm- although people don’t believe the reasoning anyway, so maybe not:P
Just feels like a downgrade to me- it’s like you’re saying ‘wvw is so unimportant to us we’re moving reset to suit ourselves and free up resources to deal with problems in pve/spvp, which are much more important than any problems that will arise in wvw. If problems do arise then it’s OK to leave them until people get back in the office Monday, as for sure we won’t be employing extra people working Sundays to cover a Saturday reset night.’
You’re trying to present a pig as a cow, and it’s not washing.
I don’t hold out much hope of them ever moving it back once it changes- think of the CDI’s , golem week, etc., or even wvw achievements, guard buffs, to name but a few.
The record for listening to wvw players or acting on anything they say about wvw is pretty poor historically.
I stand to be corrected if indeed it is ever reviewed (publicly, not some mythical internal process) once changed.
My only problem was the ‘time’ of the day, because most ppl are busy during day time and have free evenings, that’s all.
What do you base this claim on? Who are “most people”? Why would they have free evenings and not free days, on a weekend? What metric are you using to claim and state what the other 5,999,999,999 people in the world do?
As I see it, this is a common theme in this thread that is problematic. Too many posters disingenuously claiming to tell us what people whom they know nothing about, in places they have never been, are thinking, feeling, or wanting.
And what do you base your claims on?
Your comments are even worse than any posters, in that all your argument seems to consist of is ’you’re not representative of the whole’, where clearly you are in a tiny minority yourself as regards people who post on these forums and indeed on other forums too.
Your white knighting doesn’t change the fact that there are a pile of posts on the subject and apart from the usual one or two (or 6 ? not bothered counting) who defend everything Anet do no matter how absurd, the majority of posters are opposed to the idea of a change which wasn’t highlighted until literally the last minute- when surely they knew this was planned months ago as part of the pre launch planning phase.
Bringing it up in the last week before it actually changes just smacks of cynicism and a lack of any thought as to how wvw operates or respect for those affected.
Not to mention the actual reasons given, that they want to have as many on hand to deal with problems and bugs for the rest of the game, shows that wvw is way down the list when it comes to fixing anything- as has been the case for the last three years (think wvw achievements…).
So are they keeping a pile of people on specifically to deal with the many issues that will crop on on Saturday reset night, meaning those people are now going to be working through Saturday night and into Sunday, rather than Friday into Saturday, or will wvw just be ignored until people get back in the office Monday?
Don’t see how it helps in the smooth deployment of wvw at all, given that a lot of the bugs in skills and such will come out of combat against other players rather than spamming 1 against some meaningless npc boss thing.
So let me get this right.
Your changing wvw reset (ie pushing it to the back of the queue once again) in order to ensure pve updates are functioning and free up time for them, whilst over the weekend when you have the least amount of staff on wvw will reset, probably crash or be buggy as hell, but then won’t be fixed as it’s low down on the list of priorities?
If wvw was being moved to ensure stability, then surely it would make more sense to move it to Thursday when you have staff on to fix it than Saturday when you have less?
Basically you’re now trying to justify a bad decision made without any thought of the effects on wvw players by bringing up arguments that make the original decision seem even worse.
It’s ok. We get it. wvw is bottom of the pile and will remain there. Pretty sure wvw is getting it’s first new map in three years, but apparently that’s all going to run very smoothly as wvw is getting pushed back:
QUOTE: They are pushing out their first expansion and want as many developers to be available as possible during the weeks post-launch to fix the inevitable series of bugs and exploits that come with any new content.
Anyone want to bet on how quickly the huge holes in wvw towers, exploits, etc get fixed compared to pve?
The reasons for the reset being moved to Saturday don’t make sense from wvw point of view, but then if wvw becomes more like pve and wvw players move to spvp that’s what Anet would like…
Reset night is the most fun because it’s the start of the weekend, it’s Friday night and time to relax, unwind, have a few drinks and some good fun on ts. 10am Saturday isn’t.
Oh and another example of the lack of coverage for wvw is the spammer/verbal diarrhea/bot/scammer that takes up a space on SFR EB every night spouting on about paying people to transfer off, has been reported by dozens of people and yet is still there poisoning the atmosphere- that I even mentioned to Gaile who basically said ‘nothing to do with me’ and didn’t even bother to pass it on to whoever might be responsible- as no one covers wvw.
::throws self on floor::
::cries like a little baby::
I just imitated pretty much everyone that posted here..
:D
And then makes 5 more posts on the subject in an hour. The PvF is weak in this one.
Do you know why we get barely no changes to this game mode? Everyone rages over tiny changes.
You really think people complaining about changes out of the blue with no warning and no consultation, or golem cheats and hacks week, is the reason we get barely no changes?
We get barely any changes because it’s neglected, pure and simple. It it wasn’t, there would be a dedicated wvw team, devs posting replies to queries, and a much more engaged audience (see spvp section as example), as well as tournaments, a gvg scene, etc to name but a few.
Hey guys,
as the topic suggests I was wondering if it is worth my time to buy gw1 for ap in gw2.-I never played gw1 and started with gw2, 3 years ago
-how many ap can I get from gw1?
-what other stuff do I get from gw1 for gw2?
-is it worth my time? It’s entirely up to you. Is it worth your time? I would say yes. Even though the game is old and old looking, it’s still a good game. It plays very differently. This may either be a nice change or a deterent. You get the AP of course but also HOM points simply for linking your 2 accounts.
The only thing that I can say that may be a problem is that I can’t play GW without extreme lag. Idk if it’s them or the connection between me and their GW1 servers. The rubberbanding for me is real in GW1.
GW1 is actually based on the same servers as gw2, but is more affected by when they trickle things in to gw2 than gw2 is- don’t know why, just always seems to be the case.
Be careful buying gw1- you might get sucked into it and end up spending more time in that map completing, doing titles, vanquishing, etc than playing gw2.
I went back and started it from scratch, found a decent guild, and am really enjoying it. Finding a decent guild is key.
I think it is extremely disingenuous to label Fractals as simply ‘gear-gated’. Not to mention that Raids actually have a much less stringent gate than Fractals.
Even on the current system, you can get pretty far with fractals in just ascended trinkets.
And it is not like crafting Ascended Armor is dark magic.
What would make it a more honest description in your opinion?
Are you disputing the claim that a certain grade of gear is a functional requirement to complete this content? That would be odd, given that you go on to say that one can “get pretty far” if you already have some of the gear behind which it is gated. So… you can get part-way through the gated content when you’ve partially overcome the gate.
Ascended trickets are not difficult to get. In fact, most ascended trinkets are notoriously easy to get. You can get a full set with just normal play.
The actual hard gate only comes into play after you have placed agony infusions in all those slots.
My challenge stems from the implication that fractals are virtually unapproachable unless you are fully decked out in ascended. That is what calling it ‘gear-gated’ suggests and that is clearly not true.
Ascended trinkets aren’t easy to get in ‘normal’ play. My normal play doesn’t include fractals, and I think I might have dropped maybe 9 ascended pieces in 3 years of playing.
Maybe if you could progress in fractals by doing one at a time it would be something that interests me, but gimmick mechanics, jumping, dodge roll or instant death etc aren’t really my cup of tea.
Even Anet must realise by now that this is a terrible decision- even the usual white knights can’t spin this into anything other than a really bad idea ill conceived and awfully presented with not one thought as to what wvw players might want.
Congratulations. You have achieved your aim of making wvw totally noob friendly with 20-30 people standing around wondering what to do on their upscaled characters waiting for a tag to tag up and try and herd kittens, whilst removing guard buffs for no apparent reason other than they affect guardians least.
I guess the solution is to go kitten up spvp for a while then maybe they might notice us down here in the dregs where wvw exists in anet’s plan.
Hooray! Trust Anet to make a change that in response to wvw concerns that is EVEN WORSE than the first effort.
It’s clear there are more people on playing on a Saturday- by which he means pve players. I guess they are hoping more of them will join in the new karma train maps that BL will be.
10am Saturday morning for a reset..let’s see, how many will be able to organise guilds to get up, do your housework, organise your kids, and be ready for the meeting at 9am planning where everyone is going. Reset will become rubbish.
Yep, you guessed it, not a lot, which means reset becomes noob friendly and we’ll see a pile of pve players wondering around wasting supplies, ignoring comms, not on ts, and doing whatever it is they want to do in order to achieve whatever it is they need for the blessed legendary precursor.
Please Anet, leave it where it is, none of your reasons are applicable down here in the wvw world, where Friday night is by far the best time to reset as it starts the weekend off with a bang.
Saturday reset just means a lot more players playing something else Friday rather than karma train on a dead rubber day (or in your plan, fill it with pve players running around like headless chickens).
For once, Anet, try asking wvw players before you throw this kitten at us and avoid losing what’s left of the wvw community- after all, one day when you realise you’ve wasted time and money on spvp trying to make it an esport and failed, you might realise wvw and gvg game modes were the way to go and by then there will be nothing left.
My prediction is that that was the one and only time that dev visits the wvw forums before HoT releases and the changes are implemented, on the basis ’it’s too late to change anything now before release’.
Then we’ll get a CDI or a promise to look at it ‘when resources permit’.
Three years later nothing will have been done (except large numbers of complaint posts and even less wvw players still playing).
It’s quite clear where the focus is, just check out spvp forums (any other one, really) and compare the dialogue with devs they have there compared to the desert we have here.
Both. It’s Friday, there are many pulls on our time, but you know that reset time is going to give you the best chance all week of decent fights and reasonable numbers on all sides, running through into good numbers for most of Saturday.
If there is nothing to fight for and reset is tomorrow, there are better things to do with your time than sit around wondering if anyone on the enemy side will bother logging in so you can have a duel on a Friday.
OP is overly focused on fight guilds and doesn’t include the majority of the wvw player base in his considerations- many of whom don’t belong to ‘fight guilds’ and who would like to see a competitive Friday night of action together with Saturday all day rather than some meaningless gvg or a ‘fight guild’ running off and allowing the enemy to flip t3 structures (or just standing in spawn making the map full).
Thanks for the change. I’m glad that we had a CDI, full and frank discussions with the player base, arguments for and against, and that this was the decision backed by a majority of the wvw player base.
‘wakes up’
So, another change hoisted on to the wvw scene without any kind of consultation at all. Friday and most of Saturday (prime time for EU wvw for the whole week)now becomes the karma end of the match ups.
Maybe they were thinking all matches will be close and this will give a great ending to wvw match ups? (if so, they obviously forgot to ask anyone).
I think one poster has it spot on: it’s a move designed to push players towards their ‘esports’ spvp and push up numbers to justify the 400k they are spunking on a tourny for a few dozen people and less than 10k viewers (that’s roughly $40 a viewer, so the amount we each paid for the HoT upgrade..).
It is any wonder the wvw scene has become so jaded and so many have left when decisions like this are just thrown in?
Oh and in case we all missed it, the idea of maybe rotating the borderlands after a while has now also been canned as it’s now stuck with desert BL for the ‘forseeable future’ . So no new maps planned in next 3 years and no rotation.
Thanks. For wasting more on some failed E-Sport dream than has been spent on wvw during it’s 3 years of existence. Wonder how many devs could have been paid with that cash.
GW2 streamers just aren’t fun to watch. The screaming child commentary on the last tourny made it sound they they were all force fed speed and other drugs then let loose with a microphone.
Of course it will attract some professional gamers from other games (look! money! small numbers playing!), but it will really be declared a success when we’re all forced into spvp by the new precursor grind releasing with HoT.
The conversion to cobs and recipes that use candy corn mitigates that material. We still have 19 million of them for sale but a lot of it is supply priced at or above twice the going rate (around 13.5 million priced above 34 c).
Snowflakes on the other hand have only a few popular uses and dropped in vast quantities as players did those side winter dailies this year. On top of that the shear number of gathering tools that also drop flakes simply compounded the problem. Tiny Snowflakes went from 8.5s with 28K for sale to 5c with 72K for sale in 3 days. And there’s been 11.5 million for sale now. Demand simply wasn’t there. There are over 11 million priced above that 5c price today for sale.
They need to have some kind of bulk snowflake eater. One flake for ice cream or rune or sigil isn’t going to help.
Imagine crafting snowman finisher charges, or a temp mini pet, or a temp snowball mail delivery (thwack! you’ve got mail). I’m spitballing here but you see what I’m getting at, they need to increase demand by some means.
No, they don’t need a flake eater. What they need is people to realise some drops/items are worthless and destroy them, rather than dream of some way in which the item they stockpiled hoping to make a killing reselling will ever move off the floor.
So basically, things are being nerfed to combat the over active SW farmers, causing us wvw players to get even less loot than we currently get (that’s if we’re not scouting, which pays nothing at all) and making wvw even more of a ghost town than it is for large parts of the day and night?
I’d have less of a problem if thiefs couldn’t immob you venom you load you up with condis while doing 10-15k damage in less than 0.5 seconds due to a lack of skill activation time and disappear in stealth whilst waiting on their cooldowns, healing up the maybe one hit you got on them before they disappeared…
Engi might be a bit of fun with aoe reveal but the cooldown will still mean disappearing people.
Bottom line is that for most people playing against stealth that carries no penalty isn’t much fun- yes it can be countered but it takes 10 times more skill to counter than to play.
I hope the fractals pieces can be bought on the TP too, as that’s one place I really can’t stand going in to.
and it’s farmville to get the mats to make them- make sure you do fractals, wvw, spvp as well as endless mat farms so you can get the required items…
