buff 2 and 3Currently staff is perfectly viable, the problem is the 5 ( Vault ) is just way too good and makes all the other skills on that bar a waste of initiative by comparison.
2 already does like 7k+ burst with steal.
3 is way too strong for what it does.
Compare Staff 3 to SB 3. Both evade. One breaks immob. One does 2x as much damage, while the other hardly ever hits. One has 3x as much cripple duration as the other.

There a tons of thieves dueling without PI (using EA) and without acro all the time. They aren’t carry trait/traitlines for thieves. The main thing that carries thieves is bounding dodger or unhindered combatant because core thief is the worst core class right now.

My suggestion is (maybe PvP only change) to make Impacting Disruption only work on skills that are not weapon skills. Steal, B Venom, Impact Strike, Bandits Defense etc. This removes the spammable nature while still allowing thieves to burst, and gives more of a purpose to Distracting Daggers.

It still is. A well played Rev is actually a handful even for two decent thieves. Revs on top of each other start getting very difficult to manage.

Hmm, barely any talk about the mesmer side of the topic, but plenty of discussion about thieves. There’s a little bit about revenant too, but just as a backdrop to the discussion of thief. I wonder what it means when a profession is called out for being imbalanced along with another, but the other one is completely forgotten.
Mesmer for the most part is less of a problem in WvW these days because of being oppressed by thief. Power shatter is pretty kitten overall. Condition shatter, I can handle them easy on dash pulm d/p. Don’t even need condition cleanse with the 5s of resistance with improv.
Mesmer vs that acro staff cancer though, don’t even bother.

Can we stop with the “staff was supposed to be support” bs lmfao? Stop pretending like we can’t have the good skill SotM is because staff has a super telegraphed 1.4k heal and conditions cleanse and 200 HP healing “orbs” on auto. The support is crap, the damage other than Surge is crap, and even then Surge requires a perfectly aimed hit to fully connect. 9/10 Surges will hit less than 4k in WvW due to desync or half competent players not standing still and taking it since even moderate strafing is likely to kitten most of the damage.
It’s hilarious watching everyone compare it to Vault and how Surge is now “balanced” in PvP because it does no damage. Meanwhile vault does not have a 20 second CD and is 1 billion times easier to hit with the EZ ground marker. I’ve hit vaults and bounds twice as hard as post nerf SotM in PvP.
Should we even bring essence sap into this?

IMO, it’s a fair buff to the skill. No one used this skill before, and Ranger has no unblockables otherwise (to itself, Call of the Wild to pet excluded).
In the Druid meta builds, taking Signet of the Wild usually costs Signet of Renewal, which is a potential team full condition cleanse and self stun break. Without unblockables Signet of the Wild does not really compare very well.

This issue is that Blinks are still useful as a net speed buff, and more limited Z access mobility. They just aren’t insanely OP. Regarding ranged advantage… there is still so much projectile hate that I just have to wonder what people are doing wrong.
A “net speed buff?” Blink is seldom used simply to increase speed. It’s CD is too long to waste in that way.
Even if it were, War is probably actually faster. The heavy armor, heavy dps class that can out run the light armored mobility fighter… it makes no sense. The “z” mobility offset that partially.
The larger issue is that the restrictions to field of fire have been largely removed. It makes bows very powerful.
As to projectile hate… Where? Every utility slot I have on Mesmer is needed and precious. I can’t afford to switch out to a reflect that really isn’t all that effective anyway.
That’s largely the case on thief as well. I’ll run [Smoke Screen] in dungeons but it’s been quite a while since I’ve seen it used in PvP.
Necro has… well I don’t think they have anything for dealing with missle attacks.
Rev seldom runs Ventari in PvP, so that’s out…
That leaves the three classes that have long range missle attacks. All of them just got a big buff on this map.

It’s not just Vault. I think Debilitating Arc needs a heavy nerf. Evade, immobilize cleanse, cripple, and consistent 3-4k damage with that permanent evade trash acro build.
Compare that to SB 3 which has 1/3 the cripple duration, usually 1/3 the damage, does not clear immobilize, and almost never hits unless barely outside of melee range. Both cost 4 initiative.

I don’t think mes are broken, only things i would changes is
- CS shouldn’t reset elites. Maybe allow cs reduce CD on elite but not complete reset
- clones really should stop running at light speed. I understand they wanted to stop kiting of the shatters however issue is not that shatters became undodgable. If you dodge into shatter, the clones assume you didn’t dodge but moved and instead of stopping for shatter actually continue to chase you. Idc what they do it but shatters should be consistent so you have chance to dodge them instead of eating full condi crap despite dodging into shatter.The problem with your second point is that HoT brought a lot of movement speed for everyone so shatters without superspeed simply don’t hit anymore unless detonated instantly at 0 range.
Swiftness might make them able to hit but there’s still the problem of people can just run and kite the shatters easily assuming moderate distance to the clones. It doesn’t bode well for new elite specs though, there’s nothing more depressing than seeing shatters on base mesmer chasing after someone with swiftness and never being able to catch them.

I understand the issue but shatters ignoring dodges is not OK. Imagine all my attacks would land on your regardless what you did. This is how it is fighting mes atm.
They need to fix it somehow, maybe make clones actually register the dodge better instead of ignoring it….I haven’t had this problem, sure I’ve dodged and got hit by a clone but I put that down to I dodged too soon or too late and one hit me. I’m not saying it’s not happening only that I haven’t seen it happen and only really heard of this from you and after 10 pages of bugs forum no mention of it nor have I seen a post in the mesmer subforum.
If someone has a video of clones hitting through dodges it would help figuring out what’s happening at least for the devs. I have no problems with it being fixed if it is happening though because that’s obviously not the way it should work, you should be able to dodge all attacks.

Basically, you want to turn mesmer to a useless butterfly creator.

@OP – There’s no way you are spending more time being moa’d then you spend as a necro. 6 second transformation, on a ~70 second CD minimum. Even if the entire other team was chronos and they always managed to moa you back to back without interruption you would be spending less than 50% of the time moa’d. Such exaggerations don’t help your argument.
As for your suggestions……
1 – BF cooldown is fine as it is. Its already one of the lowest damage dealing #2 skills in the game, and the change from distortion to blur was a huge nerf to it. Increasing its CD won’t change anything either, since the evade spam comes from canceling it after the first 1/4-1/2 sec evade and having it go on a short CD anyway. So increasing the base CD wouldn’t affect the blur spam in the slightest. If you wanted to address that, increase the CD for when a mesmer cancels it
2 – Moa is absokitteninglutely fine as it is. Its been nerfed more than Rev has since HoT dropped. Leave it the kitten alone already
3 – And your reasoning for this is what exactly? How short of a leash should it have according to you? Also, why?
4 – CS is really strong, but increasing its CD won’t make it any less strong. It will accomplish nothing really, because CS CD isn’t one of the problems with mesmer design, and definitely will not make condi chrono any less cancerous. Besides, even with the effects of alacrity its already one of the higher CD skills in the entire game, with several classes having elite skills with shorter CDs.
Blurred frenzy for sure needs a cd nerf to add counter play

Staff was designed to be used with ventari with a theme of peaceful combat, the auto attack gives those orbs as their way (I’ll admit I always thought it wasn’t great design) of providing healing. The block that also blinds fits with the theme, AoE heal and condi cleanse and then the powerful CC to push enemies from allies. Even the bizarre number 2 skill was designed with defense in mind by applying weakness and being a flip over to “a powerful attack” to ward people off from attacking (yeah I thought that was a BS reason too).
Granted that powerful attack is laughable at 1.5 modifier when the attack is 1.0 but this was the intention with staff, it was never intended to be used as a DPS weapon.
You’re using the most offensive heal Shiro which relies on lifestealing but does extra damage and it heals for nearly 6.5k when it all hits, not exactly low. The Glint heal has the capacity to be a full heal if timed right and here’s the thing, you get 2 heals, yes you get 2 heals instead of one both on the same cool down as what most classes get.
Revenant is starting to become a properly balanced class, the stun break on pain absorption should have been from the start. Now if they made Jalis worth using and sorted out the ventari skills it might actually turn into a really nice class, once it’s out of 2nd beta.
Just bad design on healing orbs? THEY’RE TOTALLY NEGLIGIBLE. The heal on staff 4 is horrible and extremely telegraphed, only really used for condi clear since oh yeah the class has virtually none! Staff 2 is still useless. Staff 3 is 50% worse at being available for defense. Where exactly are these incredible support/defensive skills on staff??? Even the auto hits like a wet noodle when full zerk.
Both heals are still TOTALLY DENIABLE when you’re playing against someone with half a kittening brain. Shiro heal even got nerfed with daggers being used when hits are evaded/blocked. I can trait full glass with marauder amulet and tickle people to death lol. The only thing keeping revenant relevent is AoE CCs for rez denial and quickness sword auto. What a useful class that dies to the very mention of condition damage and thieves.
Again, support weapon, why are you complaining it doesn’t do high damage when it was never designed to do high damage. You’re literally complaining you can’t hammer with a screw driver at this point.
If those heals are so bad there’s nothing stopping you switching to a legend that has a more consistent heal.

Bad synergy between skills (which is especially noticeable on Rev admittedly) doesn’t mean that you should excuse blatantly OP skill designs. SotM was way too kittening good. It did everything, and it excelled at everything it did. It was just too kittening good, it deserved a hard nerf.

Hi all, Henry back again. How we all doing?
Anyway, everyone knows thief will be getting nerfed next patch due to how OP it is. But I think people are ignoring the fact that mesmer is way more OP than thief.
I have tested games vs both and mesmer just ruins more games than thieves with how OP they are. The combination of portal, frequent evasion/ports/invuln and massive condi spam pressure with zero effort or skill means that mesmer is just broken.
I am sick of spending more time as a Moa than as a necro. This is unacceptable and will make people quit the game because it is not fun.
Solutions:
Two of the these changes (at least are needed):
1, Blurred frenzy needs a much higher cd to stop the evasion spam.
2, Moa #3 should give 3 stacks of stability
3, Portal should have reduced range
4, Continuum split should have a higher cd in pvp2 of these changes will do. It is necessary to save pvp. These aren’t just my experiences and I am not biased. I ran the numbers and found mesmer was more OP than thief, which is in itself OP. If thief gets nerfed then we get even more OP mesmers too as thieves can track down their mesmers.
Thoughts?
1. No it has been fine for years
2. 5 and 2 plus dodges are more than enough to survive for 6 seconds

4. 90s is already really high for a class mechanic that doesn’t do anything in itself, if you see CS go up just dodge. Mesmers already have to stun you to land Moa because of how easy it is to dodge the obvious CS → Moa.

What are the good roaming classes now?
Last nerfs stayed in PvP so Rev is still decent for WvW roaming.
If you’re in a group yes. If you’re solo, well good luck with the abundance of thieves and condition roamers

Yep when I was just out of ranked 250 I constantly got put against Naru and whoever was duoing with him, while I get a staff burn guardian on my team. Was previously top 80 for a while then started getting these kitten matches. Now I’m middle of T1 plat.
It is insanely suspicious how some people’s win rates are so high. Totally right that in the old leaderboard system, even 60% meant you were really good. Whatever, this “esport” probably only has a pool of like 2k players so who really cares.

Yea you’re straight up lying about Rev damage in WvW.
I’m Zerk except 2 Cavalier trinks and Marauder weapons. 240% crit damage easily over 3100 power with full might. You don’t get 15k hits unless you hit Cruel Reprecussions with full stacks, full might, have every boon in the game on you (Elder’s Force) target less than 50% (Swift Termination on Devastation, which you don’t even take apparently…) and probably some vulnerability on target. Which is the stars aligning.
“Sacrifice survivability” uhhhh the signet build can just run d/p as the offhand set and stealth on approach/running away. Other full zerk glass cannon builds on other classes (except maybe mesmer) just lay down and die.

Hmm go look at the screenshot they are talking about 22k plus damage from multi skill hits guess what won’t achieve that with DP, since 7.6k of that damage was from guess what CnD guess what CnD is a skill from oh yeah that’s right Dagger Dagger not D/P. And that screenshot has zero context since it shows nothing of the players gear/build or class. Let’s play the no context game shall we? Look at this screenshot 21k CoR zero Context. There is also a screenshot of 18k Gun flame against a player with over 2600 Armor hmm. Two single hit attacks dealing way more damage than a single Backstab.
Oh I get 15k crits easily with CoR running this build I stated has higher damage out put without relying on any of those conditions besides having upkeep and Boons, you are wasting stats on Berserker gear with the Crit chance it’s not needed, with Invocation.
Cav beats berserker stats when you use Furious Sharpening Stones and Hardening Peristence. On average you will have 12 might Stacks, be under the effects of Fury and hit like a truck while not being glassy.In Zergs I sometimes swap Devastation for Retribution and am at 25 might stacks and hit for 15k+ without swapping anything out gear wise.
Try to back up your claims it might help you.
D/P as second set, learn to read.
That build you gave me would feel like a pillow fight lol. Do you even see your power? 2193 baseline power and still less crit damage than me. Yet you expect me to believe you hit 15k lmfao. And Durability instead of something like Scholar. And no Cruel Reprecussions.

Meh happened to me months ago, no one cared and it won’t change. Was down before I could react, basically only an auto skill would have saved me. Wasn’t even full zerk either.
Good luck with the balance crusade, I don’t see anet giving two figs about it.Thief was within 1200 range of you unstealthed blew 4 long CDs to land two Hits, no different then most big hits that happen in WvW, it sucks when it happens but WvW will never be balanced, you will never see those numbers in PvP just because less stats and less damage modifiers. Fun fact you can get hit from a well setup maul for 18k in PvP the Ranger was super glass and died when sneezed on though, that was the biggest hit I have seen in PvP to date.
So far the classes I know that can land over 20k hits in WvW are Revenant CoR doesn’t need any setup just hit CoR and can easily achieve over 15k damage, Warrior with Gun Flame, Warrior with Arc Divider hits for over 15k easily, Ranger with Maul can hit for 20k with setup, and Thief running full Signet with setup on D/D with Berserker gear. I haven’t seen other classes achieve anything higher than these ones.
Huge difference is that Rev and Warrior have huge tells, AKA Telegraph on Rev and “Cast” animation on Gun Flame. The range only means kitten on blob fights, thieves just deal the damage from literally nowhere (stealth spam cancer).
Edit: And for Rev at least to deal above 15k+ crit against a glass build you pretty much need to have the stars aligned.
I play Rev in WvW it deals 15k easily when running Marauders gear with Cav trinkets with furious Sharpening Stone running Invo/Retribution/Herald. No stars align…
And you don’t know how Thieves achieve The 15k plus Hits here’s a hint no stealth spam, no Evade spam it is literally a Pure Berserker DA/CS/Tri Signet Dagger Dagger build, it uses all 4 signets to get 20 stacks of might, so using every single heal and utility which leaves nothing for if they fail or are spotted before they land the burst, since it’s not a one shot build and the only Stealth they get is CnD which means they don’t engage from stealth. It’s not an instant you’re dead they have to get close enought to CnD which means if a player cant react to two hits before the Backstab, it’s not the build that’s the issue, the thief would be seen from 1200+ range away.
Sorry every one of those classes is always visible to achieve their burst.
The game is unbalanced but there is a balance, you want to do huge numbers, you have to sacrifice survivability. Except for warrior because passives for days.
