Edit: Also, Daredevil does the same thing as in help thief survive through evades, but the longevity is lower than old acro because of limited/weakened vigor. On the other hand, Dash trait solves the acro problem of dodging while immobed. It feels like they tried to do the same thing through different means, but overall DD does the job better because of immob safety, reasonable endurance regen, condi removal, and possible damage increase. Meanwhile thieves had might on dodge removed because they wanted acro to be pure defense, but here we are post HoT where all new spec lines attack and defend at the same time. Everything this company says is bullkitten and is purely to increase revenue in the short term.

If you play warrior in ranked, you are being selfish by queuing. Stop dragging down your teammates.
I’m TIRED of this attitude against warriors. We’re doing the best we can with the tools we still have. If you don’t want us on your team, then quit, because we’re NOT going away.
I am tired of this attutide in PvP. I main a thief and reroll Mesmer for ranked. I don’t even play a meta build on Mesmer, I am just aware of the clear limitations my main has vs. today’s meta. Whenever I see a thief or warrior on my team, I think kitten that guy, he is either incompetent/new or a selfish kitten.

- Good ranged focus power and cleave in team fights with Mantra of Pain and GS, strong dueler
- Team support with Inspiration line
- Defense from both Chaos and Inspiration lines
- Healing capabilities and Protection uptime allow zerk amulet usage
- Build link uses pack runes, but several fill the slot. Vampirism could work. Not sure about Durability, that may be giving up too much damage.
It does not play like standard shatter mesmer. You have to wear your enemy down, take time with your GS moves and bait out those dodges and CDs by abusing your ranged offense. Make sure to land Mantra of Pain between dodges. Mantra management comes with practice of course. When enemy gets low, burst with typical shatter combo (GS2 + F1 + GS3 etc.) and add Mantra of Pain in there.
With Blink and PU, it also has strong decap potential if you rotate smart and can sneak out of team fights. Best non-elite spec I have used.

oneshot people from stealth
If a thief one shot you from stealth these days, you deserved it rofl. A backstab will hit maybe 6-7k on a squishy target while using d/p Daredevil with Bound. Rev hammer 2 accomplishes the SAME damage on a 2 sec CD in a 1200 AoE, and does NOT require stealth, and hardly costs any energy.
Its incredible that these days, December 2015, we still see thief QQ. L2p loser.

I queue solo/duo almost exclusively. When I try to be Espurtz, I’ll have a team to queue with and one of my teammates will be on an Amber Div alt so we can abuse the matchmaking system. And that team’s name is Team PZ.
Lol, how pathetic can you get. When I saw that post yesterday about possible punishment for pros abusing mechanics, I wanted to say no. But this is just ridiculous. I think at the very least, they should be barred from further participating in this season.
I really hate that while taunted, my toon auto attacks so godkitten slow. If he’s going to taunt me, at least make the auto attack cast as fast as possible.
Bunker mesmers are insanely hard to kill once they get off point and I would argue that they are the best bunker gw2 has seen. Even bunker guard and shoutbow were killed when outnumbered but bunker mesmer can sustain a 2v1 for a longer period than normal while still contesting the node because evade frames do not stop point capture. Everyone is complaining about DH which is easily countered at higher elos and here we have one of the most disgusting bunkers ever made. If you have two good bunker mesmers you will beat any team due to the amount of quickness, alacrity, evades, and the time it takes to kill one is enough to have your team rotate back to help.
The truly broken thing IMO about bunker mesmer is that it overcomes the mobility problem that bunkers SHOULD have. Bunkers should be susceptible to good rotations. With portal and blink, a bunker mesmer isn’t.
About the 50% ratio, yes, and i think it’s fair, i personnaly know i won’t get past ruby and i’m fine with it, people who go past that 1/ team queue 2/ are better than me.

To move up a tier in a division, you have to win 5 games in a row. With a 50% chance each game (assuming a perfect system, which ofc its not), that is a 3.1% chance of going to the next tier. When you add in the complexities from issues such as solos vs premades and class balance, it all adds up to a mountain of horsekitten.
Well, technically not in a row. I just spent what felt like 20 matches yesterday, winning, then losing , then winning, then losing (queued solo from the start of Leagues for what it’s worth), and so on forth, on the last pip to reach Sapphire. It felt like a endless cycle of being back to needing 2 pips, then back to needing 1 pip, rinse-repeat. Eventually I won two in a row. There are also several times I’ve climbed a few pips, only to drop down one, then climb a few more. I’ve even had a 9-10 win streak, all solo queue.
The biggest offender is when I get queued against good grouped players, especially when it just repeatedly happens and I lose all the pips I’ve gained towards a tier. That just leaves me salty. That makes me frustrated. They have such a huge advantage. MMR balancing can take a seat when it comes to that scenario. Grouped players always has a massive advantage over those who are randomly put together. Losing to teams, is kitten horse and fluffy kittens kitten. Nothing makes me saltier, and I have to vent by asking for water in the map chat, because I am salty as kitten.
I agree. GW2 PvP has been extremely unfun to me for 2 reasons:
1. I main a thief. I have had to reroll just to be competitive for Leagues. This shouldn’t happen. Before anyone says “blah blah old mesmer!”, they never had it this bad, and they had an advantage vs melee classes other than thief. Plus, mesmers still saw quite a bit of representation in tournaments during that time period, TCG stomped people with a mesmer. Thief, we have like who, just Sizer now and everyone rerolled? It is not the same at all. Mesmer never had to deal with the semi-P2W bullkitten that is HoT specs.
2. I like. To SoloQ. Even pros like to SoloQ. No one can TeamQ 100% of the time. Putting us in this environment where our last win can easily be wasted because we were put up against a premade is not fun. There needs to be a separation here to even BEGIN to make sense.

Since leagues have come, it is blatantly noticeable that just about no one is any happier than before. Highest level players face insane queue times, low level players face insane difficulty in upwards mobility in pips due to a system that works against them (aiming for 50% win rate in matchups = statistically, no progress should occur).
And then there is the whole SoloQ vs TeamQ/premades discussion.
And the lacking sense of balance between certain classes, as well as core vs. elite specs.
I truly believe we were closer to being E-Sports before June 23. The only factor that is improved now is the short term hype and attention from HoT and the release of Leagues. After all that dies down, we are still left with a more broken game than 6 months ago.
Everyone saying “OMG 3DH AND YOU STILL LOST” clearly can’t read. OP says they had a thief and two warriors on their team, you know, the classes that DH eats for a midnight snack. Get a grip of yourselves.
Bunker Chrono mesmer does bunker guard’s job at least 5x better. More boon support, quickness rez, group evades and heals, quickness pretty much on demand and personal/group alacrity. Oh and they have portal! Which completely breaks the one drawback that being a bunker used to have: no mobility.
Playing non-elite specs is like playing without a full deck of cards.
So what about Arena.net’s promise that the elite specializations would merely open up new possibilities but in no shape or form obsolete old builds?

After 3 years of nothing substantial/successful being added to PvP other than “leagues” and Strangle-Me-hold, I’d go as far to say that PvP is a waste of everyone’s time. Even leagues do not add anything to actual gameplay, they are an external source of doggie treats for players. You are still playing the same game mode that you were on release, with “balance” changes and some terrible failure maps added that no one likes.

ESL plays are the closest thing you will see to perfect mechanical interaction between classes, and guards are so hilariously outclassed by other meta builds except thief. Classes SHOULD be balanced around their perfect mechanical interactions because anything less is a player fault and l2p issue. Guards just happen to have a lower skill floor making it easy to pick up and be effective, but the effectiveness quickly drops off compared to other classes.
Taking a nerf hammer to it out of kneejerk reaction to inexperienced players complaining will make it the next warrior class, and we all see how much of a dive it took in the past couple months because the mob all got out their pitchforks. Getting one shotted because you walked into 5 traps then stood in all the damage makes it about as OP as a rifle warrior one shotting you. In other words, you got killed by a one trick pony, who should then be punished by the rest of the team for running a crappy build with no survivability.
Guard needs some fine tuning – nerf in certain areas and buffs in others, and hyperbolic language doesn’t contribute anything to the discussion.
tl;dr any sort of 1 shot trap guard build is completely worthless outside the one time you get baited into the traps and for some reason didnt just dodge out of it. It’s completely ineffective at higher levels of play and a straight nerf to traps would break the class at more than just the lower levels.
Lol, what is the point of balancing for tournaments that gain less attention than unreleased games (see Blade and Soul) when the rest of the population disagrees with decisions made on that level. ArenaNet can keep balancing this way, but don’t be surprised when the ONLY people left playing are ESL competitors, since apparently this game was not designed to be played by anyone of a lower level of play.
That would be extremely OP when you can go /p and just spam head shots.
Considering you must trait for it, spend plenty of initiative per Headshot, and hope your enemy has no stability and/or further trait for some reliability against stability spam by investing in Bountiful Theft over Trickster in a build without Escapist’s Absolution (rendering you extremely vulnerable to conditions) I’d say it really isn’t that overpowered of a concept at all.
Not to mention you actually have to interrupt a move, not just randomly daze.

LoL introduces a paid expansion. Expansion comes with 10 exclusive new champions. Professional LoL meta revolves around these 10 new champions indefinitely, every other champion/player that did not buy the expansion has no realistic or fair hope of being competitive.
How would the player base react? Its almost like when there is no sense of balance in this game other than “buy shiny new builds to compete”, credibility is taken away from the game. Good luck killing GW2 to become “E-Sports,” which won’t happen anyway since the game is even more of a joke now.
Edit: And the punchline of the joke is the broken matchmaking and leagues system, losing 2 pips for winning a 5 v 4 LOL. Wait its not over, no Solo Q, team up or leave!

Impact strike can completely bypass the downed state.True. If the whole point with other skills is to bypass downed state anyway, might as well remove this state since it is pointless.
As for distortion etc., good grief make up your mind! Are you against safe stomps or just SS?They guarantee a stomp just like SS, only they have less counterplay than SS.
Here, let me make it simpler;
1) Does the stomper in melee range for the duration of the activation?
2) Does the stomp gets interrupted when the stomper moves out of melee range?
3) Does the downed players has the opportunity to counter?If all the answer to these questions is “yes”, then I have nothing against it.
What I’m responding to is, if you — your opinion — think that stab, evade, etc. should also be nerfed or whatever, then you have to make that argument yourself. I’ve already stated the difference between stab, etc and SS Stomp.
Based on that criteria, you aren’t ok with things like stab because they can’t be countered. You also are against SS (and function gyro) even if it can be countered since you can go out of melee range. I’m saying it’s fine since it can be countered and the melee range thing is just a thematic complaint. You’re entitled to dislike it thematically, but you at least have to recognize that it is no stronger than any other safe stomp. If they aren’t going to remove those safe stomps, why should they nerf thieves options?

Lol using either of those to stomp will get you 100-0’d by cleave before you’re even halfway through the animation.

3 stat combo amulet (Berserker) – 3000 total stat points
4 stat combo amulet (Marauder) – 3220 total stat points
Celestial Amulet – 3920 total stat points
Why? Celestial is already dominating the meta AGAIN, does it really need this raw stat advantage??? Its not like most Cele builds don’t have insane might already…

I am also not so far behind Helsleth and I soloQ'ed my way into Emerald, feel a bit better about myself.A good portion of the player base doesn’t understand that this is a team game. Helseth is great, but you can see what happens when you don’t have team support. That’s why he’s in Emerald still.

I do NOT solo queue with thief anymore. Why? Because thief is absolutely useless unless your team is competent as well. Without a team that can actually team fight, you can’t consistently decap/+1. You can’t carry them either. I have switched to Mantra Mesmer (core spec) to carry where needed.
IMO Pro league teams should not be able to queue ranked together lol.
To give an artificial sense of change and accomplishment to PvP when in reality we have been doing the same thing for 3 years.
Revenant should be removed until its actually balanced.
Real answer, the groups you were joining were morons. Thief has the highest if not one of the highest DPS in PVE still given a situation where you have full party buffs.
PVP is a different story, even when I see a thief on my team I sigh a little now…and I main this class.

Engineer: Oh this one again? Elixir U is a faster and more advantageous version of our Haste, and it comes with a free friggin Smokescreen. YAAAY.
Mesmer: Distracting Daggers vs Mantra of Distraction. Sure we have a longer cast time, ours gives a mini benefit, and we get one charge. But there’s is lower cooldown, 300 more range, and aoe. Did I mention for the spot of a single trait they outclass our daggers where we have to take an entire traitline just to acquire ours? No? Ah, shucks. Maybe next time.
Guardian: Dagger storm, a fantastic reflect that locks you into an enormous bloody animation that basically screams kill me. And we can’t do anything but spin spin and spin. But that Wall of Reflection? Drop and go. And look at that free FIELD. We get a whirl though. But… compare?Point is, you can complain. Nothing wrong with it. But when you get down to comparing, we are outdated on many, many skills. Some are just outright downgrades from other classes and several others are exact copy-pastes missing relate-able effects. Omg but one time this thief backstabbed me for 30k on my Sentinel Reaper with full shroud and I died instantly. Stupid perma stealth, perma condi clear, perma evade, cheesy, coward thief! Ughh HoT made them so strong!!

-lets engies fight like a d/p thief for 30 seconds, except no initiative to manage
-offers a low cd reveal (FREE BONUS)
-has 1/3 the cd of SR

This isnt to say balance isnt an issue. Simply that your chosen reasons for adjustments are silly, and nitch. You risk adjusting two classes simply to become gimmicks -_-u
The only difference between nonviable and viable classes in this meta is the number of gimmicks. 2x Elixir S isn’t a gimmick? Chrono F5 isn’t a gimmick? Hell I’d say the whole Rev class is a gimmick box. The hell kind of Marauder build (Shiro/Glint) allows passive might, swiftness, and fury stacking that used to require a Thief running Trickery and Pack Runes and a D/D ele to achieve? Literally, a Rev hits 4 buttons and the team has a minute of swiftness, fury, and over 15 might. All by standing around for 10 seconds before the match starts. DH’s gimmick is daze spam + spammable True Shot burst + insane AoE CC and damage. Reaper’s gimmick is outgoing damage increase and incoming damage decrease on chill.
As a Thief main, I would gladly become a gimmick class if it meant I could fight on equal footing as other elite specs. Stealth doesn’t count as a gimmick anymore, reveals are too prevalent. Evades are decent, but without the vigor that old acro provided they are short lived. OP does have a point in that Thief’s role used to involve controlling Mesmer power, because no other class can keep up with Mesmer blinks/stealth. But now, Thief counters no one and is hard countered by like half the classes in the game.
Do you realize that 5 energy on coalescence of ruin for 2 sec cd and 5 for phase smash for 8 sec is nothing? Where is the energy managment with just 5 energy cost?

Energy might as well not exist for Rev moves such as those. They’re just insane spammable AoE Backstabs with CDs longer than the energy CD. This is like reducing Pistol Whip to 2 initiative and giving it a 5 sec CD lol.
Edit: Let me actually be accurate on this. This is exactly like giving thief 20 Initiative pool and Pistol Whip costing 1 initiative with a 5 sec CD. Oh and intiative is restored on weapon swap. This balance is some kind of cruel prank.

As for the build… Running Dash “to run away and decap” is tantamount to running Dash to be bad, and is completely contradicted by running Shadow Refuge with it. “Hey guys! I’m over here!” In a real match the other team players wouldn’t walk away from a vulnerable thief stuck in that small area. They’d nuke it.
Anyone can play an unfamiliar class and or build, fail with it, and blame it, calling it weak.

Seriously. Why the hell do I want the MMO equivalent of pop up ads. I don’t give a crap about bumkitten camp being capped. I care that when I click to port, the UI blocks my port and RIP’s me because some dev took a blow to the head and thought this was a good idea.
