In my opinion the endgame here is to do whatever you want, and not beeing forced to do what the game wants you to do.
There is no gear-grind here, you play in the end more for visual outfits. Now for that you mainly need to earn gold, and you can earn gold however you want. Make Dungeons, run champ-trains, harvest stuff, kill solo-mobs, do World Events ..
If you however like to have an endless gear treadmill where you only have to run dungeon/raid 1-20 100 times to progress from 1 to the next then this is not your game.

Mostly with harvesting stuff that has actually a good price. Having 12 lvl 80s helps a lot with that
Else hunting some mobs for T6 mats now and then.

Hi
Not sure if that is a bug or working as intendet since i never really harvested much mithril, but recently when i farming lemongrass in Straits of Devastation i at least harvest the mithril on my chars that have those “bad P2W pickaxe”, and i noticed that after 2-3 runs the mithril simply doesn’t respawn anymore.
So does mithril work like Ori only with a 1 hour respawn, but that i can farm a maximum of maybe 12 nodes or whatever in Straits ?

In the case of Claw of Jormag:
Since the feature patch, the new champs that spawn during phase 2 do drop loot. However, the ones that were in the game before the patch (the champion wolf/wolves and champion goliath) continue to not drop loot. So, if you really want champ loot from phase 2, just go for the champ mobs that aren’t wolves or goliaths.
Actually, that’s not entirely true. Today, I actually got a loot bag from an icebrood goliath, and I remember a week or two ago, I got a champion lootbag from the icebrood elemental that spawns in phase 1.
Sure the Elemental was not already spawned at the last part of the pre-event ?
And yes, there are now sometimes champs at the pres and they drop bags.

Yeah, the only game with really good armory atm is Aion. But that artstyle does not fit Gw2.
Yeah, when i think about western MMOs i played like EQ2, LotRO and Rift .. the armor in GW2 looks much better for me.

According to http://www.utrace.de/?query=206.127.146.107 it’s near Austin, Texas.
That site maybe just shows where the owner of the IP is locates ? My Visual Route also shows Frankfurt.

Don’t go there. You can’t win. Seriously, don’t even try.
Oh so that’s how GW1 looks…Everyone keeps saying how they like GW1 armor better but…let’s just say I don’t see it. :S
I don’t think people are asking for exact copies of GW1 armour, at least I hope not anyway. I think what people would like, myself included, are revamped (using GW2 tech) armour and weapons, that resemble GW1 armour as best as possible, but with updated models and texture to suit the look of GW2.
GW1 did have some cool looking armour and I would love to see some of it revamped in GW2.
The first you must always ask yourself is : can you imagine how that armor would look on a Charr ?
At least i think that the existence of Charr as playable race is one of the main reasons we don’t have more armor sets since it costs the designer maybe 3-4 times more to make it fit to them.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
1200 gems so far and unless chest and pants (if offered at all) go for more (maybe 400?) we’ll end up with 1800 gems for a set instead of the current 800. Not bad.
Perhaps more on topic – how do they work on charr?
I bought sets for 800 where i only wanted 1 item from. So thats 800 per piece .. for examle Brahams Chest and Aetherblade legs .. that was 1600 for only 2 pieces.

Auto restarting has normally 2 reasons, either its a bluescreen, and you have the option checked for auto restart, so look first and disable that option so that you get a bluescreen.
If you still get restarts after that it can also be that your power supply has “aged” and doesn’t has enough power anyomore, and so sometimes your computer just restarts.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
However, even with those terrible sets, some of the pieces from said horrible sets aren’t as horrible and actually can work well when doing a mix-and-match.
Thats why i also have no problems with selling sets in pieces, since i bought really a lot set where i only used 1 or 2 items.

Anet have dropped the ball on armour since launch. Some great armour has been added, but most of it is bad. I think they need to take some inspiration from the korean MMOs.
The problem is, that a lot of people don’t like that style and will start to cry then that this is not a korean MMO and they should leave us alone with that stuff.
Personally i think as a western MMO they have at least better armor designs than most of the other game out there.
However .. personally i also wouldn’t mind some more of those asia styles
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Personally for me, GW1’s design just massively lacked detail in most cases and, possibly because of the age of the techology, almost every armor skin looked either like it’s meshed into your character’s body or like as if it’s some sort of a skinsuit.
What I like about GW2’s armour is that they have a sense of solidness and weight, with a great amount of detail, and despite all the clipping, I’m glad they decided to take a gamble and put a good amount of clothing physics and armor variety into the game instead of taking the easy way out and say, like TSW, just make clothing stick to your body.
^Agree.
Also when i see the female character models from GW1 these days i always just notice what extreme looooong thin necks they have and how stupid that looks ..

There is food available that reduces condition duration (and hence, ultimately damage)by up to 40%. Check the wiki for options!
That would be the lemongrass poultry food. It’s pretty much the meta food in wvw at the moment, coupled with Superior runes of melandru you get a -65% duration to conditions, which can be enhanced by traiting against certain conditions.
Ahhh .. now i know why i can make so good money with farming lemongrass
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
In WoW when you wanted a certain piece of gear was it for the looks or because you NEEDED the stats? There is a HUGE difference in wanting to look good (a choice) and needing the equipment to continue forward in the game (a block).
Nowhere in GW2 does it require RL money to play the game. As mentioned above, you always have the option of buying Gems with Gold to obtain any item you desire.
The real problem is when you want a look that you only get from top raids. Then you have first grind the dungeons x-times to get stuff that is good enough to go into T1 Raids. Then you have to run T1 Raids 100 times to get stuff for T2 .. and so on and so on .. until you finally are maybe good enough to get you look from the T12 raid or whatever.
And i also remember from EQ2 that there were mostly 1-2 guilds at all that were good enough to actually beat the highest raids before the next expansion with higher level cap came out.

Housing kind of already exists in the form of the Home Instances.
Home instances are not really compareable to real housing. And for me housing meant something like in EQ2. I have no problem with instanced housing, so you don’t have the problems with space for them somewhere in the world.
As an example, just take a look at a video like that, and what masses of trophys and stuff you can see in that house :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlKl172ZQxY
There were also so many other things people did in EQ2 with their houses .. that is really something i miss here.

Melee it instead of spamming 1 on a ranged weapon
I use Longbow as Warrior and use all Skills from 1-5 when they are up, and got loot again the last 2 tries also when i ignored Portal 2 and 3 and directly tagged him. So i also think it is more the problem of something like a 50 person loot cap.

Just installed a new R9 280x card yesterday .. and used Fraps to see my FPS .. at Karkaqueen it was still only 9-12 .. but i think it was better than before since it didn’t felt as laggy. However never checked the actual FPS before.

Material farming is pretty much dead with the megaservers, or at least you need a partner or 2. account as anchor.
On EU Servers you can still try guesting to Servers with different languages. Helps me at least still a lot for Platinum and Lemongrass farming. Of course having 12 characters is also very helpful

Tonight i went afk for 2 mins and she was dead. This event is a loot pinata and nothing more.
Agreed. And it’s not even a good loot pinata, as mentioned above.
The obvious solution to the problem OP posed would be to stop referring to Karka as a Elite Boss, and drop her to her old 1-hour-cooldown rotation.
So .. you want to have the fight last for looooonger and even nerf the loot ?
At least i think its a decent pinata, and i don’t want her to last as long as Jormag and get crappy loot as Behemoth or whatever.

There’s been a rumor about a 50-player contribution limit per champ, and it looks plausible (with both current situation and events like Assault Knights).
It really looks like it means more to “register” yourself at a champ rather than to do enough damage; I checked it several times on Beasts at Ulgoth and on Avatars at Wurm, and I can say that indeed if I tag the champ before everyone else I’m almost guaranteed to get the loot, but if I stay at the champ for the whole time and DPS it down I may not get loot if I was late to tag it.
Tried that yesterday and after reset at the Svanir Shaman, and at least got loot both times, while i never got loot the last times when i first tried to destroy all the 3 portals.

You can’t salvage items bought from the orders, or put it into the mystic forge. That’s kind of annoying. I play PvE and WvW and I get a far better deal playing dungeons in general, even considering the fact that I have uses for karma.
I don’t really see the problem here. That armor was just bought because you wanted the skin, and when transferring the skin you destroyed the item.
Also they have empty upgrade slots, and even if not, since they are yellow they would only have major runes, so no need to transfer them.
And also don’t forget we don’t need to use the tricks now to transfer the skins to chars that are members of a different order.
The WvW armor bought with badges is exotic.
You can buy exotic Order Armor with WvW badges ? Or have you just not read about what that post was ?

Not sure if it is really the damage or if there is also some hidden limit of who tags him first. At least today i ran to him after doing some damage on the first portal and got again loot this time. Damagewise i was playing with my warrior with longbow so of course not the highest damage you can do.

I assume it’s not GPU related, since I have an AMD card.
i5 2500 (stock speed) – Z68 chipset
Sapphire AMD HD 6950 2GB – Catalyst 12.8 driver
I just installed a new R9 280x, and now have also that problem.
Never had that before however with my 6870.
If you want to play longer in Timberline it seems to help to check and uncheck it in the options, however very annoying.
Edit:
I deleted my local.dat file, that seems to fix it .. at least for the moment.

I used it very much in Everquest 2, in Lotro i didn’t so much since i found it in no way as good as in EQ2.

I’m so glad someone else said this! The notion that “elite players need the best gear” is a false one. Elite players need challenging mechanics in PvE and balanced choices in PvP. That’s all.
The gear treadmill is little more than ego-feeding the craving for high numbers. That’s not all bad, but it’s not necessary. It results in number inflation where bosses have millions of hitpoints, but their kill times stay the same. (coughWoWcough) It’s also why WoW is bringing all their numbers down and smoothing their gear curves for their next expansion. (There’s going to be so. much. kittening.)
And the fun thing is also that those people, as soon as they have the best gear start to cry that everything is too easy, and they want again harder content so that in the end they are not better than they were before with their old stuff.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
2. People who subject themselves to the dungeon, because it is the only way to get any sort of decent reward, and given free will and other means, would gladly choose another way to obtain that money/item, as it is not the most fun thing to do.
Call me to that group. And that was one of the main reasons to start GW2 .. that i don’t HAVE TO play dungeons

So sure, if it’s challenging content for challenging content’s sake, I hope you get it.
Thanks =)
In an Mmorpg, I feel that the “euphoria” of defeating a challenging encounter is enhanced if you get some sort of token to attach to your character as a proof that you’ve accomplished it. It’s primal pride, but in a rpg, it’s a fun part of the game!If I could get that same token by doing 100 events, or something else, does that somehow remove the euphoria you would get from defeating that challenging content and receiving your token?
If you would not begrudge my token, then I’m fine with it.
My concern is measuring wealth relative to what other people don’t have that you have that concerns me.
That we continue to make MMOs like that, to mimic what Western civilization has nurtured us away from, rather than exploring something new to see if it could be done better, is a missed opportunity.
And who knows, maybe that’s what the planet is trying to tell us, and it’s just prepping itself to let the bees have a crack at it next.
Well, I’m thinking of these rewards being some kind of cosmetic trophy for completing specific, challenging encounters. It almost makes having trophies like these redundant if anyone can get it by doing something else entirely. The purpose is lost.
Of course that leads the whole oh so poupluar “i want just more challenge” argument ad absurdum and shows that in reality that it only means : i want challenge only to show off how great i am .. else i really don’t care about the challenge.

Bullkitten strikes again!
8g for skins + charges that you need to apply them + the time you spend to through them out of the inventory! Bullkitten! Or Horsekitten! Just insert the most abhorrent type of -kitten and you’ll be fairly on-point!
Just make order (and cultural, for that matter – who the kitten wants rare 80 armor anyway) applicable skins like what you get for badges in home BL! They don’t even look good to spend anything on them anyway. Or put the price up but make them Exotic at least (like Karma temple armor), give a bit of worth to them anyway!
Uncool Anet, gotta fight the Bullkitten!
That however has nothing to do with salvaging them, and of course we could say that also about cultural armor that is even more expensive.
And don’t forget in the past people often even used 2 trasmutations per item to get the skin of another faction.

EQ2 added a nice feature for housing at some point : Sales Crates.
When you sold items at the TP normally there was always a fee that was however payed buy the buyer. Now if you put items in sales crates the buyer could go into your house and buy it there from the sales crate and don’t had the pay the fee at that moment.
Was a real nice addition that also brought you to actually see some other houses from the inside

I wonder if a game only for hardcore players works, since i often have the feeling that one of the main aspects from the hardcore folks is to get “better” stuff and show off what they have, and that means they need other players around that DON’T have that stuff.
However if now a game has only these hardcore players and everyone has the good stuff, will that not lead to the feeling that everyone of these hardcores in the end is just a casual / medium player and not the soooo much better than the rest player ?

We’ll have to remove charr first. After that we can introduce capes
Ahh, good to hear. Looking forward to capes being implemented!
