One I do not lack the skill and two the fractals are out of control with these instabilities and the fact that anet just keeps changing them every time we the players find them to be fun. They become no fun at all or to difficult to run. I’m not saying you are incorrect you are very correct thousands of ppl do, do them every day but there is a large base that use to do them that no longer do them for the simple fact that anet will not leave them alone. If they do not like the fact that we the players figure out ways that make them easier for us to succeed then get rid of them or add new ones do not change the old ones. Add a T5 or T6 go up to a T10 where things like full necro teams or what ever are required. Leaving the base loots that are there now and raise the amounts as you go higher into the tiers. The T10s would be for the one percent who have no lives and have spent to much time on the game that they forget to breath some times. this makes everything playable for all and still gives the casual player a chance at some good loot. This is not a hard thing to do and it would challenge some players and once again allow the other to keep playing and to be happy

You complain about the T4s being too hard yet it has the perfect design for you to select easier fractals i.e. T3 and below which gives decent loot, plus the mechanic you are complaining about in this post are called instabilities so thematically they would never be constant and subject to change……

  • The skins listed by the OP are Viper’s, Aetherblade, Phalanx, Strider, each of which are indeed available, at least periodically.
  • Regardless, people who earned Glorious Hero’s Armor would certainly be upset if it was removed from the wardrobe.

Oh I’m not saying they should be removed was, informing that’s there are skins not available any longer, also I know there are quiet a few skins that don’t show in the wardrobe that are still obtainable and appear in wardrobe once you unlock the skin.

Making tiers in Raids like fractals?

We don’t have a dedicated Fractal team though, or a dungeon team, haven’t you noticed?

We might have had one, if we didn’t have Raid team though.

The question is, would it be worth it.

The same question remains about raids as well. And the answer is not as clear-cut as you might want.
I for one think, that if the same effort and developer workforce that’s now dedicated to raids was used on fractals and dungeons instead, the payoff would be better. And without the amount of negativity raids generate.

Those are some Rose tinted glasses, I remember since a month or two after launch only seeing Zerker Speed clears if you didn’t have full zerks you were kicked same with fractals it was a lot more negative than Raids are today.

for every zerker speed clear lfg there was another (or two) casual ones. I have been pugging dungeons up until HoT with an AH bunker guard and didn’t get kicked (or fail the run) even once. And by the time i have finished the inefficient and long run, the restrictive LFGs were usually still waiting to be filled.
Same with fractals (though i pugged them less, and used guild runs more).
Not sure what that has to do with the worth of developer time when applied o different types of content however.

I was responding to your sentiment of saying there would be a lot less negativity, which the past has proven otherwise even when there was a dedicated Dungeon team. Plus the raid team isn’t why other parts of the game had slower content release, or lack of content, that all falls down to Anets release schedule, and one Dungeons were scrapped years ago because they were deemed inefficient to maintain and the team that designed them all left Anet, Fractals are the replacement for Dungeons and have been seeing some great improvements these last few months with new content and some really good reworks, hopefully Anet has a decent content release schedule planned out since I would love to see more added to fractals.

And don’t worry you won’t have to see Raiders getting any new content for quite a while and you won’t need to be jealous.

Why does Lege armor have to be tied to Raids?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: BlaqueFyre.5678

BlaqueFyre.5678

They should have alternate legendary armor for each gamemode but I don’t see that happening anytime soon, given Anets Track record of ignoring most feedback on anything meaningful for WvW and so on.

Or rather different avenues to go about crafting it in each game mode.

Just taking the insights requirement as an example:

  • PvE could stay as is and require you to beat a boss to get insights.
  • PvP could rely on tickets to buy parts that you upgrade through winning matches to create an equivalent. Something like a win streak of three matches.
  • WvW could do the same with proofs as well buy an item require a task. Could be something like build up a structure, or capture tier 3 structure.

Yes, that would be ideal but sadly I doubt it will happen anytime soon

How did you reach that conclusion? I say the raids should either continue being limited in scope, or if they want to make this into an actual Raid game where most of their focus will be on Raids (and not in the open world) they’d need to rethink their raid strategy. And yes rethinking Raid strategy might also include multiple difficulty models, since we’ll have dozens of them instead of one, and the entire playerbase would need to take part in them since there would be limited amount of anything else to work on.

Also you are saying single difficulty was “proven inferior”, yet easier raids weren’t a thing in WoW for quite some years.
Looking for Raid tool was added in 2011, 7 (!!!) years after release and when the game had 19 Raids already.
Flexible raids were released in 2013, 9 years after release and when the game had 22 Raids already.

For SEVEN years they did just fine with a single difficulty. We are just 1 year after the release of Raids and have just a single Raid available. You need to get into perspective here.

Do you know if they plan on doing 2.5 Raids each year, or turn the focus from the open world to Raids?

Except that they started making easier raid mods in 2008, and since then only made this approach deeper and wider. I suppose that developers of must popular and successful raiding game ever made in history (even now, after 13 years it’s still number one) know that they are doing and how different difficulties are affecting player experience.

Those easy raidmodes also had significantly weaker gear/reward than the harder content, if they implement easier Raids than the rewards would have to be significantly less.

in PvP

Posted by: BlaqueFyre.5678

BlaqueFyre.5678

Ok so my idea is most likely broken and a lot of combos with traits and such would need to be balanced, but heres my basic idea:

With how OP the elite specs are compared to vanilla, pvp exclusive but make the new weapon or mechanic baseline. If they aren’t going to balance elite with vanilla, make elite THE vanilla (but only the new weapon and mechanic such as berserk mode) so people can freely choose traitlines. I don’t think we should have to do that, but a year in and vanilla still isn’t getting used on any classes so might as well make the advancement lol

The way Elite specs are balanced is by you having to select the trait line for the new weapon and mechanic, since they will be releasing brand new Elite specs each Xpac otherwise it will be a blancing nightmare and just increase the powercreep, with your idea people would stack the New mechanics from each xpac

core revenant needs two things at the very least:
1.) access to a condition based weapon with range
2.) condition cleansing spread out among the legends instead of entirely in mallyx.

+/-
3.) stop tying weapons to legends. you restrict their use.

Mallyx doesn’t have any Condi cleanse….
jalis has all the cleanses

Edited forgot pain Transference isn’t a Condi cleanse

my point was, in mallyx condi’s aren’t really an issue.

They are though, you still have to cleanse them, Mallyx just buys you a little extra time with the resistance it offers.

It really depends on if you’re in a group fight with teammates to pull condi from. Trying to sustain resistance by yourself with nothing to pull from usually ends up chewing most of your energy, if you can avoid it being stripped.

Yes this is an issue and why Mallyx is one of the worst Condi management legends, it buys you time but in the end without external Condi clears or yourself being able to clear them when your resistance ends, you are screwed over, I will Say power Mallyx I was using corruption did very well against some Condi Mesmers I was facing in WvW but most times I was just delaying the inevitable.

Making tiers in Raids like fractals?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

BlaqueFyre.5678

The “but WoW does it” arguments really need to stop.

World of Warcraft was released in 2004 with 2 Raids. They added 1 Raid in 2006, 6 Raids in 2007, 3 Raids in 2008, 2 Raids in 2009, 5 Raids in 2010, 3 Raids in 2012, 2 Raids in 2013, 2 Raids in 2015. I’m not counting Raid wings or how large each Raid is for simplicity, the above count is not accurate by any means.
Total: 26 Raids over 12 years, that’s slightly more than 2 Raids per year.
We only have 1 Raid in 1 year since raiding was added and 1 raid in 4 years in GW2’s entire lifetime. I think it’s perfectly clear where the focus of each game is, and why a game really focused on Raiding might need multiple difficulty tiers while a game that has raiding as a side project does not.

Now if the game ever becomes more focused on Raiding than it already is then you can give the “but WoW does it” argument again and there would be merit for discussing it. The argument against more tiers of “it will take development time from Raids” will probably be worthless if the devs start releasing more Raids, more often, with a much larger/expanded team so the two sides might see eye to eye better. But it’s a rather big IF

So you admit that GW2 must either change raid development behavior for future raids, or stop developing them in current shape at all, because single difficulty model is proven as inferior by specialized raiding games.

Iirc the Raids in WoW provided a lot lower quality rewards for the lower difficulty Raids that acted as stepping stones for the higher difficulty and the fact that a WoW Raids were obsolete after what 1 year after being implemented.

So since Gw2 Doesn’t have that kind of Vertical progression gear system they would have to greatly reduced the rewards for any easier mode Raids since the regular rewards are pitiful and the only worthwhile items are those drops for crafting Legendary armor. Gw2 Raids are designed to not be obsolete with no vertical progression so this shouldn’t be an issue since most people that want easy modes for training purposes only or so they say.

But implementing this would cause for higher turn around time of content since it increases the work load no matter what and will take Devs from other portion of the game or from the existing raid team, either way it’s bad since it will impact other content development.

What I see with these threads are people that are salty that the Devs released something that did not have the casuals or non organized content players as the sole target for this content, wanting this one piece of the game be made for them mostly due to a shiny, some for the minuscule amount of story and others because they feel excluded from content that has absolutely no barriers besides owning HoT, oneself and being willing to work with others.

No longer invulnerable when downed

BlaqueFyre.5678

This, you should be heavily punished for entering downstate,

You are heavily punished. You’re suck on the ground with limited abilities, no way to evade, block, or otherwise defend yourself.

Scrapper and SNR rezzing are outliers, moreover the change doesn’t fix either of those, the change just makes it enormously difficult for other classes to rez.

Yeah until there’s a gyro on u and an engi, ressing u with anti projectile field, stability, probably stealth, and all while ur invulnerable. It doesn’t matter if they are outliers, they were SPECIFICALLY chosen to abuse this mechanic. There should never be “free res” ever plain and simple. Your team should be supporting you BEFORE you go down, not after. U think its ok to be able to res through 3+ peoples cleave? with 1 person? I personally dont.

I played Gyro Cleric Scrapper full spec to REZ through Cleave.

It was possible versus 3 cleaving 2 seasons ago. Now, it’s not possible anymore with Mender amulet. (they nerf instant cast on heal, stealth, no more daze on gyro destroy, no more invuln on body, no more toughness from cleric.

Since, gyro can’t DAZE while destructed… if I rez 1 versus a cleave of 3, your 3 can’t focus fire or are annoyed by some peelz from my awesome team mate.

Actually, scrapper got nerf engouh that versus 1 good player, I can’t rez 1 anymore with all my gyros tricks…

This means, that I put scrapper off my awesome REZZER support build and I switch to DH mender for when I want to REZ like a God. (plz consider that both where not meta build, fine tune to rez like GOD because this is my favorite play style, where I played Bunker Guard with runes of Mercy.)

Unfortunetaly for me, it’s way harder to be the best rezzer in the game than before, but it’s still possible to get better and be able to do, what others can’t.

But at equal skill level, rezzing in a 1v2 situations is most probably a failed attempted that can get fix with a second rezzer or CCer. Without that, I will peel half though my tricks to rez.

Being possible to Rez someone with 3 cleaving players , and resign someone before the invuln frames were completed was total bs and should not have been a thing to begin with. This was one of the best decisions Anet could have implemented in Pvp, and there is counteplay to Guardian rezzes in the form of stability and Aoe cleave since the Guardian can’t put Rez cleavers as effectively as Engie pre patch.

Why only raids? If we can get legendary weps in a variety of regular pve content why not the legendary armor? Not everyone likes raids and a top tier of equipment shouldn’t be exclusive only to those who want to raid.

Will there be other options and ways to acquire legendary armor is this the only way?

Why do all Legendary weapons have to be tied to open world Pve content? And exclusive to people that play Pve?

Agree, but the solution should be that every type of legendary armor and weapons (and ascended and infusions) are available in both PvE and WvW not exclusive to one type of play. Nothing should be locked behind raids.

Why shouldn’t anything be locked behind raids? It takes the most effort in game for any Pve content nothing is stopping players from doing raids besides the players themselves, there is no hard gear requirement and so on.

They should have alternate legendary armor for each gamemode but I don’t see that happening anytime soon, given Anets Track record of ignoring most feedback on anything meaningful for WvW and so on.

To me, it seems like most raids are balanced around DPS.

I think it would be healthier to balance them around healers and mechanics. Get rid of the time gating and enrage timers and make it a gauntlet of surviving the mechanics while completing tasks, which is basically what Escort is. And as far as I have seen, most people have the most fun with escort. All except super hard core l33t raiders.

Maybe make enrage timers a repeatable challenge mote that gives you double loot once per week.

Bunkering does not promote a challenge, and that is all that would happen with your suggestion.

Why does Lege armor have to be tied to Raids?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: BlaqueFyre.5678

BlaqueFyre.5678

Because all the modes have exclusive ways of obtaining legendaries ?

Weapons – PvE/WvW with the exception being TOL
Backpacks – Fractals/PvP
Armor – Raids

Each mode showcases a specific amount of dedication to that mode and is the endgame reward for it.

So, get out there and raid.

Actually the weapons exception of TOL is incorrect.

Many people have ran tournament with the prize being a legendary weapon. 3 vs 3 and 2 vs 2 tournaments as well. Heck the last 1 vs 1 tournament gave away a precursor and 800 gems.

Also saying fractals is basically saying PvE, lets not pretend that you never have to leave LA to do it and simply put. You can get from 1-100 in a couple days. Then the PvP back pack was given to anyone who simply PvP. You didnt have to make legendary, you only had to make ruby 4 seasons or in my case Legendary 2 season 1 and Legendary S2 and before the season 2 was over i had a back pc. The most average of players could get the PvP back pc.

The raid armor is simply Anet locking something behind something else so the content they put out makes it so people have to get involved with part of the game they are working on.

If people are not raiding because they cant find there static groups then why would they put themselves threw hours of pugging? Oh wait lets hide Legendary armor behind it.

Show me an officially sponsored tournament other than ToL to directly give away legendary weapons as a prize and i’ll edit my statement until then…..It’s the only exception.

Oh and as for the rest of your rant….

You really want to split hairs ? Legendary armor also requires PvE. The same semantic argument you used against the Legendary Back-piece being exclusive to Fractals just caused your own position to backfire. Congrats!

Actually your comment makes no sense, i have friends who made the legendary Back pc who only PvP.

They did not get the PvE/ fractal back pc because they dont PvE and obviously legendary armor requires PvE since raids is PvE but please let me draw that in crayon for you.

Some threads for you- wont actually bring them in since that takes more work.

Tournament in November By Kit The Traveler
Never Lucky 2v2 Weeklies returning
(EU) Academy Gaming 2v2 Tournament
3v3 Courtyard Tournament

All these tournaments give players 2000k gems which can easily be changed into a precursor. As well as the many give aways that AG do with there actual tournaments.

But these probably are not official to you since there isnt some big post from Anet. Also these are all with in the last 2-3 weeks.

Of course this isnt legit for you, who wants to be able to enter in 4-5 PvP tournaments a week and earn up to 10k gems. In 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, 3 vs 3, and 5 vs 5 tournaments.

No what you prefer is grabbing your 9 other static raid group friends and doing raids to get legendary and say this is the only way you should be able to get them.

Irony, PvP made titles easier for casual PvE players. Yet casual PvE raid groups dont want to give anything up.

Anyone else seeing a trend?

Those Tournaments are not official Tournaments they are player driven and funded, which is good on them they are providing a venue that players have wanted but Anet has refused to cater to. Official tournaments are made and sanctioned and rewards provided by Anet, do those tournaments fall under that? No they don’t.

I will never understand why people suck up to elitists so much. Imo you can run anything in raids and clear bosses as long people are not completely afk and know what they are doing. Reason elitists would run certain classes or not is speed clear or 6 man clear or w/e – does your average raid group run speed clears? No.

You’re assuming you can put together a 4/4/2 with casuals in mediocre dps gear and healer gear and actually be able to beat these bosses now, Wrong! basically everyone in raid must use A+B+C meta builds or else you will only get the boss to enrage and GL killing the boss in enrage mode. At the end of the day it is the math and numbers that counts, (1000+500) x10 = cannot be anything other than 15k dps. 15k dps should be the minimum for any dps (excluding a PS war, but PS usually pulls around 13-14k), the nerfanant barely pulls 10-11k dps making it a huge dps loss if you bring one. Sorry to burst your bubble here but the math and the time required are pretty much all calculated at the end of the day in order to complete raids now. If you want to argue that all math is elitist and shouldn’t be implemented this way then go tell ANET to actually test their game before they make patches like this one.

When it is possible to 3 man a boss designed for 10 it’s not a dps issue!! It’s a player issue.

Epic rewards should be gated behind epic content and similarly epic content should unlock epic rewards. On that basis, I think it’s reasonable to link raids and legendary armor.

However, I don’t agree with ANet’s choice to do so: they took one of the most requested rewards in the game and deliberately hid it behind content that already inspires controversy, because it already gates content & rewards behind a particular style of play.

They have done that since release…… the problem is now they didn’t gate the Rewards behind massive amounts of open world Pve

Zergs are cancer to Thief.. they don’t have the passives or sustain to deal with all of the random Cc/Aoe running around. Normally you run the roaming build as pick off stragglers on the fringe of Zergs

Gold needed does not equal difficulty.

Pvp back piece is no longer obtainable, you can still get The Pve backpiece.

Again Gold does not equal difficulty!

And the pvp player has to learn how to play against players to get wins to advance to get the backpiece within a very short time window unlike the Pve player who can incrementally get there’s all day every day

‘’All day every day’’
Wow! I can’t believe you dont see the irony in what you just said. You must be irony deficient. Realistically speaking, you can pass the first two divisions in PvP under 1 day because you can play ‘all day every day’. I know this because I’ve done it. And I’m less than average skilled PvP player. If I can perform this veteran PvP players can do this at 10x the speed.

Learn how to play against players? All you have to do is cap points and win match. Is that what you’re talking about? Even ANET’s recently announced that there are surprisingly low skilled players in legendary division and that’s why they decided to limit match making to solo and duo only. Get your head out of the sand.

I can’t believe you’re insinuating that PvE is a walk in the park. Haha. Cute PvP player. However, I will say this; PvE skill curve inclination is high at first and then once it reaches certain point it remains at that level until new PvE challenges are introduced and then it requires you to improve your skills again. Whereas, PvP skill curve is low at first and then continuously goes up because remaining at that skill level requires players to vigorously improve their own gameplay and team cooperation. Just to clear things up, I wasn’t suggesting that overall PvP game is easy. The point I was trying to make is acquiring legendary items in PvP gameplay will be very linear. Kill this, kill that, play this play that, reach this tier. PvE legendary backpiece forces you to go on an adventure all across tyria and pull resources from as much diverse events as possible. But in PvP this will never be possible. Legendary backpiece is a good example.

Don’t get me wrong, I actually enjoy doing all those PvE achievements to get my legendary items. It makes this game come alive and makes it feel everything in the game matters. But the point is PvE players have so much barriers to overcome. Whereas, the same thing can’t be said about PvP players. Case in point PvP legendary backpiece, you can start working towards it on day1 of buying your account. Gold is not the point here. It’s the barriers that PvE players needs to overcome just to get to start line. If PvP players get the same amount of barriers than it will be fair playing field. And I wouldn’t really mind. But I don’t think that’s possible in PvP because it’s a linear game mode and there isn’t much there for devs to design something that is as diverse PvE legendary missions. We can see that in PvP legendary backpiece missions. It’s nowhere near as diverse as PvE backpiece.

Again those barriers Pve players aren’t difficult, you can boost a character from day 1 to 80 and fame fractals and gold to start on the path to achieving the Ad Infinitum, it is not like you have to level up a character from scratch now, both are very linear, the Pve players can keep working towards the Ad Infinitum, pvp players can’t even attempt the legendary backpiece currently and faces players will always take more skill than AI mechanics in fractals.

Why only raids? If we can get legendary weps in a variety of regular pve content why not the legendary armor? Not everyone likes raids and a top tier of equipment shouldn’t be exclusive only to those who want to raid.

Will there be other options and ways to acquire legendary armor is this the only way?

Simple answer is if they put it in PvP it’s going to be extremely easy. Kill this many enemy players, play this much of this hero and get this many kills with this profession. Get to this PvP tier. Use the PvP currency to get materials from PvP vendor. Mystic forge. GGWP.

How’s that going to fair to PvE players? It takes 3 months just to get all the time gated items. All PvP players did for legendary backpiece is take advantage of PvP mach making mechanic by abusing it and jumping to higher tiers much faster. Easy legendary back piece.
What did PvE players do for fractal legendary backpiece? 3 Months of pain staking research page farming. If you missed 1 day that’s 30+1 more day to complete your backpiece. All you have to do in PvP is win match and get to higher tier. That’s it. How is that fair?

Devs made a big mistake by making PvP legendary backpiece. Hopefully, this will be the last time. I suppose they had to throw some bones to ’’SLOTH’FUL’’ PvP players whom refuse to play main game content.

Seeing how it was a 3 month minimum time gate for pvp players to get their wings your argument holds no substance.

hahaha! my argument is dismissed because they both take 3month to complete? Most University Bachelor degrees also take 3 years. But as we know some are more difficult to study than others. It’s the same thing with legendary backpiece. It’s way to easy to get PvP legendary backpiece. There isn’t any item requirement to reach higher PvP tier. No agony infusion. You don’t have to spend 70g on agony infusions or 150gold on Ascended armor. All you do is join PvP match and get to higher. You can adjust your stats for free any time. Hmm, very difficult.

Getting wins against players is harder hanngetting wins against AI, gold needed does not equal difficulty just saying….. weakest argument ever

And it was 3 months minimum if you achieved Legendary the first season and got enough wins to advance, which the majority of people did not do and right now the Ascension is no longer available while you can get Ad infinitum without any restrictions on time or skill level

2 New player just bought GW2. Player A decided to get PvP legendary backpiece. Player B decided to get PvE Legendary backpiece. Who’s going to get it first?

Now repeat that part about ‘’gold needed does not equal difficulty just saying’’.

How the ED change killed power Rev

Well you pretty much worked it out on your own with your flipside comment at the end. ED does indeed have more damage and does not need to be traited to do damage. Even when traited, SV does significantly less damage than BD and that damage difference increases even more when you factor in Devastation traits. However, although SV has no damage baseline, it does heal more overall both traited and untraited. So they’re pretty well balanced when you take all those things into consideration.

But the recent change is good for the game overall though. In fact anything that is applied to an attack (even from sigils) that is blocked, blinded, evaded etc should be removed. If someone has a Doom sigil proc ready for you and you dodge the attack that would apply it to you, that Doom proc should be lost until the next weapon swap (unless this is already the case and I’m just mad?).

My point isn’t that the change was wrong, it’s that it leaves Shiro with a laughable heal. My suggestion was and is to remove the 1/2s trigger interval (SV doesn’t have this) so that ED can be used in bursts. People who disagree throw around the “2 heals” point as if those 2 heals actually add up to something significant, whereas in most cases they don’t. More heal > more damage in this case, Revs don’t need the extra damage from ED but do need more healing.

Having both heals is an advantage though you are just looking at the skill in a vacuum it is balanced around the whole class not just the one skill.

Blaque nobody has any reason to believe you unless you provide proof and numbers. You think it’s balanced? Ok, taking CDs, traiting, cast time, armor, dodge access, condi cleansing potential, and any other relevant factors into account, show me that Rev’s heals are generally better than 5 other classes. That would put Rev’s heals in the top 50%. Note that Revs can’t use the 2 heals back-to-back, legend swap has a 10s cooldown. And use real examples like Channeled Vigor on thief, I used Skelk Venom as an example precisely because it’s bad enough that people don’t use it.

This is what you have to do to show people that you actually know what you’re talking about, anybody can claim that a meta is balanced or imbalanced, it doesn’t mean anything unless you prove it.

You can use the heals back to back once you use one you can swap to the other legend that does not lock you out of using the second heal, you just can’t swap to the other legend for 10 secs…. also the reason you compare ED to Skelk is that they are almost identical at every level of functionality except ED provides damage. You are right Skelk Venom is a crap heal Thieves don’t take it but Revs have the bonus of having a second heal to fall back on. And the potential of the second heal especially if running Meta is so much more than other classes.
