The invisible enemies is a problem when you’re defending keeps, I’ll give you that. Otherwise it hasn’t affected me much because I run with a small party and we’re largely unaffected. I think we got out lucky.

As for giving the orb back, you could, you know. You could give the keep back to the server that originally had the orb, let them take the orb elsewhere and then take the keep back again.

It’s already been shown on here and on reddit that some servers have done that, why’s it so unreasonable to try and contact someone who might be able to help sort it out? You’d get your keep back, just it wouldn’t have an orb in it.

At the minute what you’re doing is essentially “Well, I feel a little bad that we gained this illegitimately but oh well, might as well reap the rewards of having an orb”.

@Grok, I have no doubt they are legit screenshots, but I will say this. The first few days you did beat us in prime time (hence the massive disparity in points in the first couple of screenies) for the last few days however, from what I’ve seen points have been changing hands pretty rapidly during prime time. I’m not surprised that you had a while with those sort of point gaps, but I also would not be surprised to learn that that all changed just 10/15 minutes later. That’s why this week’s been so good, our prime time matches for the last 2 days have been superb. I’d say yes you probably have just edged it in prime time too, but I don’t think it’s always as one sided as your screens would suggest.

Brunners you can check all past matches SFR had we never night capped, only reason we doing better is because of AO guild that came to our server from US and that is theyre prime-time. Meanwhile you nightcap with iron which are alarm clocking. Desolation was from very start a server of mindless drones bunching together for an easy win that never had or even attemped to organise. As soon as you got any sort of organised oposition you started running and hiding like rats. For some weird reason you start to believe your worth something to WvWvW universe and should be able to atleast get 2nd in this match-up. From the start we targeted Kodash because we fought them in the past with Elona Reach and had some debts to pay. You were left alone living off wellfare points we decided not to contest. The goal was to make you guys get close to Kodash so that you two would start desperatelly fighting for 2nd and we just /popcorn and /badges. Theres two more days of the match-up, keep acting like youre any good and we might take you off wellfare, Kodash seem demoralized would boost theyre confidence getting 2nd in this match-up. Seriously, you just said you’re entirely the reason for our second place? Not the fact that we finally got some organisation, some communication and decided to hold our own in prime time and capitalise on others during the times where in the past we’ve been capitalised on?

Also I don’t really care if you never night capped before. You night capped against Desolation and that’s all there is to it. To cry foul when you lose some stuff to the same tactic is cheap.

If you have “debts to pay” with Kodash, fair enough, but the fact is the last couple of days we’ve been keeping up with you step for step during prime time AND even beating you at times.

Are you going to win? Yes. Is it because you’re more organised and have better communication than Deso? Yes, probably. Is it because you have more numbers in general. Yep, definitely. Do you deserve the victory? Of course, you guys have been great to play and are very effective at what you do and I expect to see you continue rising up the ranks.

but give Desolation credit where it’s due, we don’t have the WvW population we once had but we’re finally getting the organisation and the communication that we should have had from the start. We’re working hard and you can see the results.

I totally agree that our server has always been ranked to high. We had a big zerg mentality (still do, but it’s definitely getting better) during those 24 hour matches. That meant we were ranked far to high for our population numbers (if you look at the graphs provided even from back in the 24 hour matchups you will see that we’ve always been one of the highest ranked servers with one of the lowest wvw populations).

If anything we probably still need to drop another tier or two. We’re growing the foundations of a good server, but we’re nowhere near there yet.

I’m not mad.

All I’m pointing out is that SFR gained this massive lead because they nightcapped heavily over the weekend and early in the week. Desolation have only had big night forces in the last couple of days and that’s only because we made a really concerted effort to not come last.

To claim that SFR win every prime time fight, laughable. Take off the rose tinted glasses bud, yesterday during primetime Kodash, Deso and SFR had a pretty even spread of points. In fact, yesterday Deso was often AHEAD of SFR in terms of potential points, even at prime time.

So don’t feed me that bullkitten that Deso only nightcaps. We’ve been holding our own during prime time as well. But at the end of the day, if people are going to nightcap against us (I’m looking at you Seafarer’s) you can’t be kitten off when we nightcap you back.

In fact, I genuinely can’t believe you seem to think that SFR doesn’t night cap. Until Tuesday every morning when I logged on to check I’d see that SFR had a jolly good time of it at night.

I play till about 2/3am UK time and from the server reset till Monday night, every night without fail the same thing would happen. Everyone would have an even spread and then suddenly BAM everything is owned by SFR.

I am yet to see Desolation hack ever, and I haven’t heard about anyone else seeing it either yet.

I’m sure we have somewhere, doesn’t seem like any server is free of it.

Kodash and respectful do not belong in the same sentence. I know it’s not the server as a whole but they’ve been the worst when it comes to hacking orbs that I’ve come across so far.

Edit: Actually I feel I was being a bit harsh. A lot of their server put up good fights and when they fight fair, they’re a good bunch. However they’re a little to prone to hack.

As for my server…well, I don’t even know who Envy are. So either they’re not that big or they hang out exclusively in EB.

We are up to about 25 members now, of which 7-10 are on TS every night.

We’ve been doing a bunch of stuff together lately. We did a TA run (that took forever, ha!). We’ve run CoF plenty of times (I got myself the CoF sword, woooo!). We WvW every night (Last night we turned our entire borderlands green <3)

Just a quick update in case anyone re-reads this thread.

We’re a great bunch of guys (and a girl :P) who just have a fun time chatting and playing guild wars 2 together!

Also I’d like to point out, as a Desolation player, that if there ever were any Australians playing on our server then they kept themselves quiet and have now left. We have NO night presence (until last night that is).

So yeah. If we ever had one (which I find hard to believe anyway) we definitely don’t now, to my knowledge.

Yeah more hard numbers on how many people would be nice, but if they say they can track it, I’ll be inclined to believe them.

I don’t like how slow they are on fixes for this stuff, but I believe them when they say they can track them and they’re working on it.

I have no way to be certain, it’s just what makes sense to me. Other games that don’t have this problem have everything server side. Games which are vulnerable to things like speedhack have always been client side modding to get the desired results. Counterstrike, battlefield 3 etc… which is why they use punkbuster to detect the client side changes and tell the server to kick the client. If the code being changed within the game was server side we wouldn’t have this problem. I don’t know why ANet chose to have these values be controlled by the client.

Here is a list of the following hacks based off of what i have seen and been told also in my experience the same types of hacks happen in any game where there is hacking. Speed hacking (which modifies the movement speed of the character not casting speed or attack speed because thats server side, and its easy to tell this because when lagging you can still run around but not cast or attack properly till the server lag ends or catches up with itself). No clipping (which is fly mode walk through walls etc…), being able to adjust the gravity for jumping higher, and being able to teleport to any location on the current map. If these were server side im sure we would see none of this. The kicker is maybe with the way the game is designed it would cause too much lag to have this be done server side which is why they chose client side control for these things.

As to getting caught, if client side mods were so easy to detect why do games that suffer from this use a 3rd party locally installed app to detect them…

I’m more concerned about the actual Guild Vs Guild aspect that Guild Wars completely lacks at the moment, where are the guild on guild matches? That’s what I’d like to see on the leaderboards.

Have to say the two features that should have been in GUILD WARS 2 from the start: GvG and Spectator Mode.

I have no idea why GvG isn’t in a game called Guild Wars. I have no idea why spectator mode, one of the most popular features added in GW1 was left out. I think there was way to much eye on content and less on substance in this regard.

The name Guild Wars entirely relates to the Lore of Tyria. That’s why it’s called Guild Wars.

Is it a little weird that it was in GW1 and isn’t in 2? Sure. Is it a weird name for the game with out it? not at all.

Me and my IRL friends formed a guild that didn’t really go anywhere for ages. We kept at it, kept to our ideals of quality over quantity and while we’re still not big by any means we’ve grown to a solid 25 people with about 7/8 on TS every night.

If you feel you’re leading a leadership hole, do you have anyone you trust that could also fill a similar role while you’re not there? If you don’t want to promote them to your rank (for obvious reasons) you could create a rank below yours “Right hand man” or something with all the same privileges and let them run things in the times you’re not there?

The good thing with our leadership structure is there’s 4 of us (and while one doesn’t play much at the moment cause he’s a dev for black mesa) the other three of us pretty much cover most periods of the day, so we’re always able to arrange something or other.

They did say they have been banning them. It could well just be a case of more pop up so it never looks like A-net are getting rid of them. Don’t know for sure though.

Which server got hacked and by which server (I don’t know who has the orbs atm)

Just read around on this forum, it’s a ridiculously well known bug.

Yeah, the fact that you can call for help and have it go unheeded is really frustrating.

Still, we all help where we can!

Ok, that’s cool. If you do consider changing, keep our guild in mind, we’re very active in both WvW and dungeons, always on TS too to have a good laugh.

Replect, trust me 4-5 guys with good communications can often be a LOT more useful and effective than a large zerg party.

My guild was on the Deso borderlands from about 10pm till 2.30am last night and we managed to take absolutely everything on there while we were there.

Granted there wasn’t a massive amount of enemies, but there was only 7 of us, so I’m still very proud of our efforts.

It was nice finally see Desolation not be entirely over run at night! There was a lot more organisation that I could see last night and it was glorious.

Desolation had a good night, although SFR are starting to annoy us on our own borderlands!

Still, if it’s what it takes to win, we’ll keep doing it this way

We are EU though, so I don’t know if you’re NA.

Just to be clear, you’re not saying the shouts will be an asset because of the healing right? Because IIRC the healing on his shouts is terrible because he didn’t spec for them (even when you spec entirely for them they’re still a bit meh)

If you just mean in general the shouts will be useful to your allies, then I agree.

That is one thing I’ve noticed. Almost all of our commanders are totally inept and have no idea what they’re doing.

I can think of maybe two that I think have the right idea and I’d follow. Beyond that they’re just a shiny icon leading a mindless zerg to bash their heads repeatedly against keep walls.

The amount of times I watch a couple of commanders way point and run back out of the borderlands followed by the zerg entity is face palm worthy.

In the EU it’s a bit more clear as we’re much closer in time zones (there’s only 1 or 2 hours max between most of Europe that I know of). Russia would be a bit tricky because they’re slightly further out, but still it’d be a lot easier to settle on a time for WvW to be worth less or some other night fix.

In NA it seems less clear. Not only is there some major time difference between each coast but you also have the Asian and Oceanic populations. They have nowhere else to go and you can’t really tell them when they can play, so it doesn’t seem as easy to figure out an “off peak” time because it’s always on peak for either NA or Australia/Asia.

Points should definitely scale down depending on time of day.

If people in off peak hours got half the points of people at prime time, they should still make about the same amount of points in the time span as prime time people do, rather than double.

The only problem I have with my idea is you might still get relatively empty maps on weekdays (due to people working) so people might still benefit from full points then, don’t know.

You could base off peak hours depending on where the server is. EU servers are in Germany so middle of the german night would be off peak.

Should keep it fun and rewarding enough without making the scores go absolutely crazy.

The fact that Kodash have managed to gain 20k+ points to zoom past Seafarers is a bit unsettling. They really do benefit from the night time.

Also, Desolation does like to whine, that’s true. I don’t think anyone’s stupid enough to think we’d be winning if it weren’t for the hackers though. What we whine about are legit concerns: hacking, lack of organisation and a small night time presence.

When I’ve been on during prime time though this week has been one of my most enjoyable so far. Shame it’s been decided by the night cappers again.

Supposedly you do have at least one NA guild for the night time, I’m sure someone else said in this thread? And you do have some sort of night time numbers so I’d be inclined to believe you have at least one night time guild

Fact is we don’t have that many people who actually WvW. We don’t have the numbers to spread out and do well on all maps.

Surely it’s better to pool our strength and create a strong area in a single map?

We seem to be faring best on kodash borderlands.

That’s where I’m taking my team I think this week because that’s where we have the most organisation, the better commanders and generally more communication.

Rebuilding from the bottom can only be a good thing for us.

Desolation have one big issue:

Defence.

People take towers and then just leave. No surprise that we often immediately lose those towers again.

When you ask people to help defend it’s “We’ll get it back later” or “Not enough reward” or some other stupid response like that. They just zerg after those useless blue icons.

Everyone transferred off. We got a bunch of PvE commanders and most of the big guilds have left.

We’ve got a few still trying, IRON obviously, APEX and my guild BoA have a small alliance and we are constantly pissing the other servers off and distracting them while the bigger forces do stuff (there’s only a few of us).

I’ve seen GG are still around and often are one of the better lot. GoD can be good when they want but they don’t like losing and stop playing as soon as it seems “unfair”.

Fact is we genuinely just don’t have a PvP population to be as high ranked as we are. We need to keep losing, drop another tier or two and work our way up from the bottom.

Also, when I left last night at 3am, Seafarers rest were last with no orbs and now they’re 10k ahead with all three orbs :O What happened?!

Desolation 4th, i laughed. We’re currently getting our kitten kicked by the nr10 on the list, badly.
Desolation has had to deal with so much nightcapping crap that so many people who cared about WvW simply left. Logged in this morning, a saterday morning, 11:30am outmanned on all Borderland maps.
But since Desolation ranked so high initially, itll take weeks before it drops down to the bracket is now belongs.

And im hardpressed myself to also leave and find a server where there is a better matchup. Im not looking forward to being outmanned and unable to hold even a simple tower next to our spawn for another month or so.

To be fair, Arborstone shouldn’t have been ranked as low as they were. The only reason they were that low is because none of their hardcore french alliance (the reason they win so easily) played during the 24 hour matchups.

If they did, they’d be a top 3 server already.

We used to have queues for WvW, I thought it was a case of people not wanting to fight against Arbor, I guess they jumped ship permanently when they realised we’re terrible at organisation.

In fact, VS alliance Grand Cross was created to combat our alliance.
But, instead of PA, we don’t care about the 24h match up so when the 1week patch up start we were in the 14th rank :/

I can assure you it’s not the case, but if we want to go in D1, we need to make the max point vs you, and augury don’t want down in d3 likewise… So there is no alliance, but yes your particularly focus by the 2 fr serv, but for different reason.

Now we’re coming to the end of the week do you have any knowledge of whether you had people on our servers spying or not? (I’m not judging, I’d just like to maybe find out one way or another from someone from that server).

Also, I did hear that your rise is due to one very well organised French Alliance, so kudos to you on your 24/7 vigil. Insane how you kept up those numbers constantly.

I’m still not convinced there’s no Canadian influence though, but I guess I’ll believe you for now
