Don’t tell me your account name is actually your game key…
In that case some hacker simply claimed ownership over your account, took everything and deleted your characters. If your account name is indeed your key, you should contact support immediately and have them change your account name. You should also discuss a new method of proving your identity, since that code is now openly available.

That name tho.. How is it even possible?

It’s a bug.

I seriously hope it’s just a bug and not the actual game key.

Gear Grind and Gear Bloat

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

BunjiKugashira.9754

I don’t see the problem for 3. in the aquisition of ascended equipment. Ascended stuff is only required for mid-high lvl fractals and raids. Fractals are meant to be played while you slowly aquire more ascended stuff, which enables you to tackle higher fractal levels. Raids on the other hand are especially designed for players who have the maximum achievable amount of power and teamwork. This is not something a new player is supposed to enter after a month or two of play.

In my opinion ascended gear is in a good place. If you don’t have the means to aquire ascended gear, then you most likely also don’t have the necessary experience to play the content that requires it. The only problem is that ANet should make it more obvious to new players, that it’s perfectly sufficient and fine to go for exotic equipment and play with that for a while. The difference in stats is so low, that you will only notice it at all once you’re at a skill level where aquiring ascended equipment is no longer a dream. The rush for bis gear tends to ignore this though.

Don't penalizing solo players on Megaservers.

BunjiKugashira.9754

This problem is as old as the mega server and probably older. ANet still hasn’t done anything to allow players to rejoin the map they disconnected from. There can be many reasons for a disconnect: lost internet connection, client crash, pc crash…

Finding solutions to prevent players from disconnecting in the first place is nice and definitely encouraged, but ANet can NEVER fix all problems that lead to players unvoluntarily leaving maps. That’s simply an impossible task.

Possible solution (my favourite so far):

  1. Add an automatic and invisible disconnect confirmation to normal means of disconnecting from a map (closing the game via Alt+F4, the x, going to character select screen or changing to another map).
  2. If a player disconnects from a map without sending a disconnect confirmation, keep the player character on the map. Have it just stand where the player was when he disconnected. This character can take damage and die to prevent people from potentially abusing this in WvW.
  3. If the player doesn’t reconnect within 10 minutes (2 minutes during meta event) or he connects to a different character, his character gets removed from the map and the spot is freed.
  4. If the player does reconnect in time, he simply claims back control over his character in it’s current state.

It’s important to leave the character on the map to prevent people from abusing this system to escape dangerous situations or hide from a WvW zerg.

For the critics who claim that it’s better for an event if the spot gets filled immediately: No, it isn’t. A completely full map has about 150 players. During significant lag spikes about 3 or 4 players max loose their connection. These lag spikes usually happen with way more than 10 minutes between. Unless there’s a problem on ANet’s server’s side, a situation where a significant amount of players disconnect and try to reconnect simmultaniously won’t happen. And even if 50 players disconnected at the same time during a crucial meta event, it would take more than 2 minutes to refill the map and bring the new players into position.

In my opinion a spot reserve and reconnect feature for all gamemodes would be a huge improvement and ANet should implement it rather sooner than later.

Player name on spawned items please?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: BunjiKugashira.9754

BunjiKugashira.9754

Some people just use these things next to the bank because they are cancerous to inventory space and not really fun anymore (same old stuff gets old). I may or may not be guilty of this.

The ones at banks or vendors are easy to excuse as accidental spawns. They’re the vast minority when it comes to spawned items in bad locations.

The majority of inconveniently spawned items players are not accidentally spawned close to a bank, but rather spawned in the middle of an event, at exactly the time and place when many players want to pick something up or interact with something. I agree that reporting would not solve the problem sufficiently. What needs to be done is:

  • Make it impossible to spawn stuff in a certain radius around interactables. This includes eventstuff, stationary vendors, but also other spawnable items.
  • Restrict every player to one or two spawnable items at a time. This prevents a single player from occupying all space using the rule above.
  • Despawn any spawnables in a certain radius around event interactables as soon as the event starts and spawns it’s interactables.

Sigil of Force vs Bloodlust

They really need to rework those “stacking” sigils! We should only lose the stack when we die. Losing it just by going underwater or switching maps is lame.

You don’t loose the stacks if you have the same stacking sigil on your underwater weapon. But I agree: Loosing the stacks when switching maps and the fact that certain event mobs don’t give stacks (and don’t trigger on kill effects in general) is just lame.

Sigil of Force vs Bloodlust

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: BunjiKugashira.9754

BunjiKugashira.9754

First of all: Superior Sigil of Bloodlust looses to Superior Sigil of Cruelty if you have a decent critchance.

As for Cruelty vs Force:

  • Fractals are too short and you always start at 0 stacks. Even without dieing I rarely fill the 25 stacks. Force would be better.
  • Dungeons depends on the dungeon. For some longer dungeons Cruelty could be nice, but for shorter dungeons Force is better.
  • For Raids I would definitely recommend the Superior Sigil of Force.
  • For open world and any situation where you have to kill a lot of cannon fodder early on, the Superior Sigil of Cruelty is king. Or Bloodlust if you don’t have the critchance.

2017:
Netherlands, France, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Germany
2018:
Italy, Malta, Hungary, Belgium, Slowenia, Luxemburg, Sweden, Latvia, Austria
2019:

What is your favorite Epic Win moment?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: BunjiKugashira.9754

BunjiKugashira.9754

My most epic win moment was when I was fighting a perma stealth thief in WvW on my ele. Now I’m not really a good PvP player and I suck at 1 vs 1, but that thief snuck into our fort and had to go. He already defeated several other players and appeared to be basically untouchable because of permanent stealth. He never attacked directly from stealth, so no debuff there.

The first try was a desaster and I got owned like the noob I was. Luckily I managed to mist-form to our lord where I could bandage myself. The second try played out similar.

On the third try we had a rather drawn out fight that basically consisted of me trying to figure out where he’ll pop out next, us hitting each other a bit and then each one healing up again once he went invisible. The whole time I desperately tried to stop his movements with my Frostbow and then suddenly, directly after the thief re-stealthed, I saw a block of ice floating in the air. I knew what this meant and launched all my aoes at it’s position. And that’s how I killed the thief that harassed our fort for half an hour.

Deflation of gold-to-gem [suggestion]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

not sure if thats relevant here but in the last couple of months the exchange rate of gold to gems has become about 2 times more expensive, thats some sort of 3rd world country level of inflation right there so it looks like there happened some sort of currency exploit

Take off the tin foil hat. The current exchange rate is simply what happens if you have two currencies that are exchangeable and only offer merchandise for one of them.

the fact that the exchange rate was moving slowly for several years and then jumped so high without any real changes all the while Anet constantly keeps adding some sort of money sinks in the game is not something normal

and if you think that a mmorpg having dupes/exploits is so unlikely than you call suspecting it a tin foil hat case im afraid you’re in for a whole world of disappointment in your future gaming activity, babe

The last drop in exchange rate is around the time HoT was released. That’s most likely because of Guild Halls draining a lot of gold. Since January the exchange rate has been steadily increasing. It started rapidly increasing around the end of April. That’s when the account wide inventory slot was introduced, which is undeniably a topseller.

Edit: My bad, the inventory slot was released in January with a maximum of 5 buyable slots per account and was increased to 10 buyable slots per account in April.

Deflation of gold-to-gem [suggestion]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: BunjiKugashira.9754

BunjiKugashira.9754

So you’re suggesting that people who convert high amounts of gems to gold get a tax reduction. Effectively they’d get more gold for the same amount of gems.

I agree that the right way to deflate the gold to gem ratio is to incentivise players to trade gems to gold. However just giving more gold per gem is not going to cut it. Why are so many people trading their gold for gems? Because you can only get the new skins and items for gems.

I think the solution to deflate the gold to gem ratio would be to introduce skins and convenience items that can be bought exclusively with gold. The gold to gem ratio will always shift to where the popular goods are. A tax reduction is not going to change this.

Edit: Ah, I got it the other way round. You’re actually suggesting to tax people who convert high amounts of gold to gems higher. People will just spread their conversion over a longer time span to avoid the extra taxes.

You need to make sure ground targeting is set to “normal” and not any of the fast/instant options.

Once you do that you can hit the place key to get a preview, and rotate that preview with RMB before you place it.

Somebody at naet needs to make targeting automatically set itself to normal when you neter place mode and revert back to whatever you setting is when you need it, because it’s kind of annoying to have to constantly go in to options :P

Thanks, that explains why I’ve never realised that this function exists.

Yes, utility infusions do stack. In theory. If you somehow manage to equip two magical infusions you’d get +44% MF, since in GW2 these things are multiplied with each other. Now the thing about utility infusion slots is, that they only exist on amulets. Without finding a way to equip multiple amulets, you won’t stack anything.

Uhm, you know that in GW2 armors don’t have durability? They only have 3 states:

  • normal: gives full protection
  • damaged: gives full protection
  • broken: gives no protection

If your armor is damaged or broken you can repair it at an anvil for free. In sPvP the armor doesn’t break, only in WvW and PvE. If your armor is damaged you will see a small icon above your health bar. Btw: The first armor piece will only break when all other armor pieces are damaged. Also broken armor pieces are no longer shown on your character, so if you’re running around in underwear, then your gear definitely needs repairs.

Will character creation ever get updated?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: BunjiKugashira.9754

BunjiKugashira.9754

Ok, I have to admit that my suggestion was overkill. But I still think we could use more sliders for stuff that currently isn’t customizable like hair and body parts.

Also other games went the extra mile and added an expert mode for character creation. It’s usually normal mode = you can’t really create unrealistic stuff, but you will hit some boundaries if you try to create a specific style. Expert mode = You can actually create characters that are really close to what you envisioned, but if you don’t pay attention you might create an abomination.

I still don’t think that people creating abominations on purpose would be a problem. Simply because the trolls that would actually do that are too few. How many people do you see in GW2 with hair clipping through the outfit or the outfit clipping through the back piece? GW2 does have these unaesthetic combinations, but no one chooses them.

Will character creation ever get updated?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: BunjiKugashira.9754

BunjiKugashira.9754

I feel like no matter how extreme I may get with sliders I never vary too far from the base face I’ve chosen to edit.

Having seen some works of horror that resulted from allowing for extremes in other games I assume this was ANet’s way of avoiding that.

I don’t care if other people create works of horror as long as I can make a character to my liking. It’s the same argument as with clipping armor sets: If it looks bad, trust that people are going to avoid it (except for some trolls).

The majority of players wants either a character that looks like them, or a character that they like looking at. In a different game I played it was possible to set the scale for all body parts to 0, to reduce them to a small line. You could essentially play as a flying pair of boobs. Did anyone play as a flying pair of boobs? No, at least not for long, because it looks ugly.

Before we add any sliders we need a way to save and load character appearances!

For GW2 I’d like more sliders for the face and the existing sliders should have a wider range. Next I’d like sliders for the body and hair. Especially the hair sliders could create a lot of diversity. And lastly a tool to directly edit the face mesh. The tool should have brushes for smoothing, increasing, decreasing, moving, etc. Also a checkbox for symmetrical edit and an extensive undo/redo heap. For those that play modded Skyrim: something like the RaceMenu mod.

The new skills should be quick to cast and focus on synergizing with skills in other attunements.

Hearts & Mind Still Broken

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: BunjiKugashira.9754

BunjiKugashira.9754

Honestly, updrafts are doable. The main problem here is when you are unlucky enough for the rift to not bring down Mordremoth’s blue hit bar in the last stretch. The rift doesn’t stay there for you to try again. Instead it disappears and Mordremoth stays invulnerable to your attacks, forcing you to kill yourself and start from the top of his fight.

I don’t mind difficult fights and I appreciate that his is so challenging, but to be halted by an action that isn’t doing its job is annoying as all hell. This is especially true because you have to rinse and repeat that for the whole end, and one flub on that is intolerable.

You don’t necessarily have to start over. You can also deplete his break bar manually. I had to do this during my extreme mode achievement. Depending on your class the break bar is soloable (I had the bad luck that everyone else dropped out during the last glider phase).

Cripple, chill, blind and any kind of soft cc are good to prevent his break bar from recovering while you’re waiting for your hard cc to recharge.

Even the wing back items could use a dye channel. The white wings could have the feathers always blend into a white tip, while the black ones blend into a black tip. Though this change would be especially important for glider + back piece combinations that have a dyable glider.

There are even gemshop back pieces that I didn’t buy for the sole reason that they don’t fit my character’s colour palette. Adding one or multiply dye channels to these backpieces would increase their compatibility with existing characters and their colour palettes tremendously.

You need to google what sandbox mmorpg is, to put it in really simple terms, players generated contents.

I did. All so called sandbox mmorpgs that I found have open world grieving aka PK. All attempts at defining the genre stated a lot of stuff that can also be found in a themepark mmorpg plus the open world grieving. Depending on the definition even with full player looting. Since all these attempts at defining the genre are from fansites though and there doesn’t seem to be an official definition, I wanted to know what you specifically meant by using the term.

How to fix GW2s end game problem...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: BunjiKugashira.9754

BunjiKugashira.9754

Most mmorpg end game revolve around pvp and why is that so? Because pvping is the most self-sustain design ever. Take for example, counter strike, team fortress, dota, all of those games are pvping in a sense where players fight each other.

You want a pve end game? It doesn’t exist in a non-sandbox game.

What exactly do you mean by sandbox game? Open world PK? Most PvE players would leave immediately. I’ve started BDO with a bunch of friends and everyone, without exception, left after reaching the level to unlock PK.

You can start a game as a PvP game and it will sustain itself as a PvP game. Because that’s what the players came for. However if you try to force PvP onto someone who came for PvE you will rapidly loose players. People will find other games where they can play what they want.

Is there a good ice dps build for pve?

in Elementalist

Posted by: BunjiKugashira.9754

BunjiKugashira.9754

I didnt say it was wow, but how can you not see the effects on ice? You must not use it at all apparently, Ice has cc, it has vulnarability and a few other tools against mobs, what do you mean it doesnt do similar things as in other games? What do you think freezing does? And again who said you cannot make a hybrid of using those ice abilities with others for dps? Just because you have a problem with it doesnt make it true.

And I never meant pure dps, if that wasnt clear then im sorry im perfectly aware that ice has things like cc support mixed with some dps, but I think this is a mentality thing, allot of my guard abilities have dps/support abilities but they are still used in many builds for dps regardless.

Actually ive heard quite a few complaints that people dont know how to use cc very well in this game when it has masssive potential cc is a support style rather you like it or not.

The problem is that even with the strongest possible water/ice build you’d be so low on dps that you’d need 5 water/ice eles to match a single staff-fire ele or lightning dagger ele. And the cc potential? That’s only a problem if you camp a single element and refuse to ever switch. A good ele uses fire or air for dps and switches to other elements when needed for cc, support or utility.

You can create an ice dps build and you can roleplay an ice mage with it. But don’t expect anything near the dps of a meta build. The water section only has a few skills that can compete in terms of dps, and their cooldowns are too long to create a rotation.

You could register a second windows user for parties. I understand that laptops often get used as music players and everyone and their dog get’s access to them. Just create a second user that doesn’t have your passwords stored in his browser and you’re good.

Why so many items/currency in lvl 80 zones ?

So here’s my suggestion to improve the current loot system:

  1. Remove the majority of bags and make the contents drop directly. No more bagception.
  2. Reduce the amount of blues, greens, yellows and even exotics drastically.
  3. Increase the amount of crafting materials per salvage. Let’s say the amount of blues was decreased to 1/10 of it’s current value, then increase the amount of crafting materials gained from salvaging by 10 times.

This radical reduction of loot and especially bags is necessary to remove the “noise”. Now that you actually have a chance to pay attention to what you’re getting it’s time to introduce the treat. Introduce a new crafting material for this or repurpose an existing one.

  • The crafting material must be identifyable at a glance. Therefore both icon and name must be easily distinguishable from all other items in game.
  • The crafting material’s value must be as stable as possible. It should be somewhere around 2-5g per piece and scale with the current inflation.
  • To make the material stay valuable there must be a constant sink that especially competitive and hardcore players use. For example buff food, but also ludicriously expensive skins (with this material being the main resource). Mobile crafting stations and other convenience items are also an option.
  • The material must NOT be earnable by any other means than looting or buying on the TP.

And finally, because the true satisfaction about good loot is congratulating others and being congratulated:

  • Announce loot with a TP value of more than 2g group wide.
  • Announce loot with a TP value of more than 20g squad wide.
  • Announce precursor drops and ascended boxes map wide.

I feel ya, bro.

I don’t know if you played GW1, but the excitement when one player got an obsidian shard or an ectoplasma glob as a drop was real. People congratulated each other . This happened about 2-3 times per person on normal mode and about 6-8 times per person on hard mode. In about one hour every member of the group had multiple drops that made them feel genuous joy.

What’s the problem with GW2’s loot system?

  1. Boxes. You don’t know whether they are good or junk until you open them. At the time you get them, they’re just ‘meh’. Even if the box ends up giving you something awesome you won’t feel anything from it.
  2. Junk. There’s just sooo much junk items that it’s easy to miss the awesome loot you might have gotten. Especially since autoloot is a thing. How often did you find an exotic item in your inventory wondering “when did I get this thing”?
  3. Recognition. While GW1 hat only a few items that everyone knew were awesome loot and instantly recognized their value, in GW2 the typical “awesome loot” would be exotics. The problem is that you don’t really know their value until you check the TP, at which point all the potential excitement is already gone.
  4. The type of awesome loot. In GW2 the typical loot that makes you feel a bit joy is exotic equipment or ascended boxes. Since there is no “sink” for these items, they would quickly loose their awesomeness if they dropped too frequently.
  5. Quantity. It’s just so little that you tend to completely forget that it’s there.
  6. Publicity. You never know when someone in your group drops something awesome. Conversely they never know when you drop something awesome. People might not realise it, but congratulating each other on good loot is actually what makes it feel awesome. The fact that no one is commenting when you get something nice just makes it feel average. People try to offset this by posting their loot in chat, but that’s just not the same.

In entertainment it doesn’t matter how good something actually is as long as it doesn’t feel good. My ingame wallet has been growing faster than ever before, but I still feel I’m not getting anything nice. This is a serious design flaw.

I’d really like the musical instrument animations. Just without the instruments. That way we can play air-guitar like in GW1.

Dmging boon scaling with HP

No.

From a PvP perspective: Bunker builds are already pretty strong. You can imagine what would happen if bunker builds got a dps boost.

From a PvE perspective: What exactly is your goal? Do you want to make healing power viable for dps builds? To me this sounds like an attempt to make all stats do everything, so you don’t actually have to choose what to go for. It’s true that in PvE damage is king and thus only offensive stats are desired. Turning the defensive stats into offensive ones is not the right way to fix this!

Yay semantics. Helping out, playing what you like or whatever you want to call it.

If we’re going to count scaling then noone is helping out anyway. Everything just scale things up beyond 5 players.

And that’s why you do the ad-spawns in one group of 5 players each. Seems like you understood the concept.

Helping out means making the evens succeed quicker or more safely than if you weren’t participating. Now let’s say there was a dedicated group for each spawn:

  • Would you killing the ads make the event succeed quicker? No, since the time determining factor, Tequatl’s health, is unaffected.
  • Would you killing the ads make the event succeed safer? No, since the group of 5 people can already handle it. You might even make things harder for the defending group by spawning a champion.

A well organized map can handle champion spawns by stalling the champion and sending another group over once they finish their spawn, but that’s time they could’ve spent attacking Tequatl. And yes, on a Tequatl speedkill even the defending groups use the time between ad-spawns to attack Tequatl.

Disclaimer: I’m not saying that this is what OP did. From his post alone it’s impossible to tell whether he was helping or unintentionally hampering the event.

Suggestion- Saving Scarlet Briar

Rewriting the past… I wish I could do that after an exam.

Imo the only thing ANet could do is to have our characters acknowledge that Scarlet wasn’t all evil, but that’s that. Let’s be realistic: No one is going to rewrite a past living story chapter to spin things around and make Scarlet survive. And no one is going to claim that she actually survived what we did to her. As for resurrection theories: Why would we revive Scarlet? If such a thing was possible in GW2 I’d resurrect other characters first.

The important thing is to design the future, not change the past. Though we could give an interesting spin to Scarlet’s afterstory by making our characters realise that she wasn’t all evil, but putting us in a position where we still have to publicly blame the whole mordremoth desaster on her. The story could be that we’d like to clean her name, but plundering in Lions Arch has reached an alltime high. A little spark, like the Archnemesis of the LA attacks not being as evil as portraied by the Captain’s Council, could cause a rebellion plunging the city into chaos once again.

Just ignore and move on. I generally take everything people say with a huge amount of salt during any world event.

If they don’t like how I am playing in a public environment then they can move maps if it’s annoying them that much.

Try telling a map orga of 100+ people to move maps if you’re annoying them… Don’t know if that’s confident or conceited.

Well, Ts organized maps tend to have teams assigned to defense and turrets, so any other people are not only not needed, they are even detrimental since they needlessly scale up the def events or make a canoneer stand idle by wondering whether that random will use the turret or abandon it halfway through. In addition to not dealing damage to Tequatl.
The easyest way to identify such a map is by counting commanders. Since defense is handled by designated groups they don’t use commanders there, which results in only 2 commanders for the whole map.

Now from your post I don’t know what kind of map you were on, but the chances of you really being unneeded for defense or turrets are not 0.

Fix dynamic events!

The most common bug to stop events seems to be pathfinding related. The NPCs just don’t reach their destination and the whole eventchain stops.

How difficult is it to implement a timer that teleports the NPCs to their target location after enough time passed? Or teleport them back to their start position and have them run the path again, I don’t care.
