When the amount of labor is so small to do the crafting, the market will correct quickly.
Look for an opportunity to make something else with base ingredients.
I used to make unidentified purple dye and I made quite a bit of money until the price of grapes went up. I’d buy grapes and blueberries in bulk and the other ingredients with karma. The market for unid purple dye is not large, I would not move more than 4 or so of these in a day.
If you do PvP you will be swimming in transmute charges.
Defeat Chief Otyugh
This is in Fields of Ruin, far southeast. Very fast respawn and soloable. A nice grape patch nearby that you can gather from every day.
Hey guys.
I’m just trying to make enough money to craft my ascended armour at the moment and am currently on around 150g only. I made that by farming world bosses.
I was just wondering, out of the following which would you say is the best/quickest way to make decent money in game?
- Farming world bosses
– Dungeons (If so, any particular one?)
– Fractals
– Chest farming in Silverwastes
– Event farming in SilverwastesIf there’s a better way and it’s not listed there (except for playing the TP) then please let me know.
Thanks.
None of the above.
GW2Spidy says 1 gold costs about 11 cents. So 100 gold costs about 11 dollars.
If you have a real job and make more than 11 dollars an hour after taxes, you therefore can make more than 100 gold per hour by working.
If you are a kid with no work experience, you might make only $6.50 per hour after taxes at a minimum wage job, which translates to about 60 gold per hour.
I’m surprised that the price of sprockets has remained remarkably stable (and fairly high IMO), for an entire year. Picks cost about 120 gold a year ago. Since then I’ve played about 350 days, averaging 12 strikes a day. That works out to about 1000 sprockets and 24 gold.
The pick is not a problem. Less QQ, please.
There are some collections and achievements you can do with crafting. I’m working on the ambrite weapons and the spirit weapons.
You can tell whether you have done the story dungeon by checking the availability of the corresponding PvP track. Other than that, just do ’em all and keep track.
A norn character with Become the Snow Leopard.
Engineer with medkit and centaur runes.
Warrior with warhorn and traits
Mesmer with mantras+healing mantra+centaur runes, or signet
Thief with signet and stealth
Ranger with signet and Rampage as One.
Necro with traveler runes or signet plus warhorn.
I find elementalist to not be as fast, even with a teleport.
My guardian seems to lag behind as well, even with lootstick, Retreat! and Save Yourselves!
Right now I think crafting Cragstone is one of the few, if not the only way to convert shards to gold and that takes 200 gold worth of lodestones and a bunch of skill points.
Please add a way to monetize obsidian shards that is cheaper. Potions, runes, mystic recipes, anything.
The kill stealing applies if the stealer gets the killing blow, which takes away credit for the slayer and the weapon master achievements.
Or promote to second to top tier.
Use to craft rares
Sell or forge for precursors.
Mine the rich iron near Gallowfields waypoint in Brisban. Worth about 10 silver for a minute’s effort, more if you have a watchwork pick.
Also, I forgot to mention pdavis’ solution immediately below. His is the most efficient and cost-effective way to make gold, hands down.

I’m not sure if this was posted on March 31 or on April 1. This whole thread might be a hoax.
Hello,
Just a small suggestion. I am terrible at jumping puzzles but I was able to get through all of them but one. I recommend a small-sized human or sylvari engineer. The Rifle’s jump shot is wonderful for jumping puzzles. Other classes that have a teleport are good too.
There are plenty of videos out there on how to do them. Dulfy, etc.
Was the one you can’t do with the bomb and gryphons? I had such a hard time beating that one, one single scratch and your bomb explodes. At least you can suicide bac kto the start easily to try again.
No, I am missing Swashbuckler’s Cove. Not because it is difficult, but because you have to be fast.

Quartz used to be super cheap and plentiful. If there had been no timegate then it would have too easy to flood the market with exotics (throw cheap celestial into forge).
Quartz isn’t so cheap anymore, like 1 silver per. Times 25 times 5 times 6 is 7.5 gold for a set of celestial.
Blood is still twice as expensive.
Tiny snowflakes can be forged up, then used to create rare Giver’s greatswords.
And I got it. It just took time and a little effort.
Have they answered why the beta is human-only?
Looking forward to tomorrow.
I’m okay with all the characters being right handed. I just wish the keyboard layout was more lefty-friendly.
I love the Centaur runes for engineer and mesmer.
I found a party and got the mystery cave achievements. The only one left now is dodging rocks during Pact Assaulted.
This makes sense.
I think the heavy armor pieces should use elonian and deldrimor, not damask and deldrimor. After all, you don’t want flimsy cloth attaching the pieces together or padding you. This would be a lesser change than changing the insignias.
I necroed this thread to apologize. I should not have started this thread. I was just frustrated about getting the achievements. It’s not like me to whine and cry like a little baby because something is difficult.
Eventually I will get the achievements and the last piece of glowing armor.
Don’t go all the way to 300, I would stop at 285-290. That way you can still use the luck you get from salvaging.
I did this 1055 times but my ap is not going up? ive only been doing them for AP. someone help please?
Prerequisite: Dungeon Master
There’s always an AC run or five going.
I need the tears. There are quite a few crafted items that need them. Plus I want to complete the Ascalonian collection.
I use one for bloodstone dust and empryeal fragments that I plan to feed to Mawdrey and the empryreal eater. That way I can send stuff to my bank without the dust going too.
I’d like to get this done so I can move on to other projects. I’ve burned a lot of playtime on the last two achievements and would prefer not to burn any more. But I guess that’s how it needs to go.
World completion may be tedious but at least it can be done.
It’s been long enough.
It should be available after the story is done, without the achievement requirement.
I admit that I don’t have the reflexes and fast-twitch necessary for the achievements.
This goes for the other ascended ingredients that are necessary for the luminescant armor.
Keep the cost the same.
A victory for me is a game where I land an interrupt.
I don’t think I will be getting the 100 interrupts playing 2 games a day. 6 down and 94 to go.
Sorry, all human females must be beautiful and slim with huge perky breasts.
You can buy the mats and inscriptions. Trade gold for time.
I think it would be fun. You could control what skills and gear the heroes used. It would add a new layer of fun to the game. I endorse this idea.
Personally, I’d like them to remove the buy orders that are for less than vendor value, as you can’t place these orders anymore.
In my opinion this was a wonderful change that made the game more fun for me. Play time for me is nights and weekends. I’ve got to do my daily gathering which takes 8 minutes per character so that’s an hour. Grinding out 10-12 lengthy achievements was not a fun part of the day. I only had time to do 12 on the weekends. It could take 40 minutes some days, longer for 12. Now, it’s so easy and it takes much less time to get the three dailies done, plus loot! Thank you! I can actually -do- something at night!
Stick around. BP/AR/DR might be a good matchup.
Before the patch I tried to do ten or more dailies per day for the cheevos. Now I do three or more dailies per day. It’s a lot faster, I get the same or more cheevos, and I get some extra loot! What’s not to like?
But my freezer quit working over the weekend.
There’s ascended crafting.
I made three batches of 50 greatswords with the Giver’s recipe.
I guess I could have sold the greatswords at 60 silver a pop like Wanze did but I ended up forging them and selling any resulting exotics for 4g each.
I got bored with it and just sold the 2K mithril ingots I had left.
Eventually, once Wintersday is over, mithril ore will stabilize and I’ll buy my reserves back.
Interesting. I have a few thousand mithril ingots I can flush.
Would it be worth it, on the average, to promote unique snowflakes into pristine snowflakes? You have to use 50 unique snowflakes plus dust, etc. but I don’t know how many snowflakes (wiki says 7-40) result.
This will help me. A lot of times I don’t have the time to grind out three PvP games, especially since they nerfed hotjoin, or time to get 10 WvW kills.
I think the system is fine as it is. If I were to make a change I would make heavy armor use deldrimor steel and elonian leather instead of damask. This would make the price of damask and elonian leather stabilize closer to each other, and give some relief to light armor users.
I believe mithril will be used in ascended jeweler, so it’s fine as it is. I’m buying some as an investment.
No refunds needed.
The best way to get gold is to work a few extra hours or a second job, buy gems with the proceeds, and convert to gold.
I do some tutoring on the side and make $45/hr. If I chose to convert that to gold, that’s 375 gold per hour.
If your time is limited, you should do that and use your game hours to have fun rather than grind dungeons.
There’s plenty of stuff to make with ascended jeweler. Ascended jewelry, infusions, even new stuff like ascended runes or sharpening stones. That would be something. The devs are only limited by their creativity. Hmmmm, well maybe we won’t see ascended jeweler any time soon.
North camp (wvw) works pretty well.
Since quartz is much cheaper than the T6 mats, having the timegate on crafting charged quartz preserves the value of the T6 mats.
I have never bought a gem with real money, but I have bought plenty of stuff from the gem store. You can do the same.
