I’m pretty sure they were referring to the wings and stuff like Vial of Salt. May be oversight that you don’t have to be a certain rank or division to purchase the items for the amulet.
I posted this in another similar topic thread, but Ill post this here as well if you dont mind
WvW rewards has always been a tricky thing to sort out. Many are afraid to have it improved to much for fear of people focusing on farming and taking up spots on the map. At the same time wvw has been a giant gold sink if you want to stay competitive, gear tiers matter unlike pvp, food/utilities some of which can be very expensive especially since its constantly used, siege consumption etc etc.
I have been a supporter of wvw reward tracks but it should only have rewards that are specifically usable for wvw, like siege, commonly used food, ascended mats/craft mats commonly used, etc. And it should only be progressed when earning wxp and only in wvw, not eotm. This would help make wvw more rewarding for players and help reduce gold costs while also making it less common to have to farm pve maps, because not everyone is into that. While also deterring farming.
I disagree. Reward tracks should be tied to game mode contribution beyond just killing other players, like what is done in sPvP. Additionally rewards should not be reduced to stuff specifically usable for WvW. That is completely contrary to what was done with sPvP rewards because players who spent the majority of their time doing sPvP were punished in the way of having no level 80 characters, having no dungeon tokens, having no path to craft ascended or legendaries. Stop punishing WvW players for playing WvW.
A person who held a home point for 10 minutes and has 10 points while his team lost the game trying to 4v5 is equal to the same as a person who has 10 points and solo died 15 times trying to take back home.
Points do matter. Learn to rotate.
Why didn’t his team rotate?
Yea…
I just got dishonor myself for no real reason. Duo-queued with a friend and when the queue popped a message immediately said “Removed from match-making queue” and now it shows dishonor.
@TheSwede,
This thread is really for SoloQ players. Pre-made teams of players on TS and who have played together a bit usually have the coordination to pull off other kinds of strategies that random pugs thrown together cannot really accomplish.
- Objectives upgrades will no longer be automatic based on time. They will upgrade based on dolyaks that reach them. Smaller groups can now prevent an objective from upgrading by preventing dolyaks from reaching that objective.
I’m not quite sold on this because there is still an automatic element to it.
I believe upgrades should require a player to talk to a quartermaster and click on a confirmation button when an upgrade is ready to occur otherwise empty maps, especially in lower tiers, are still going to have yaks reach them and they’ll upgrade automatically. Servers should not be automatically rewarded for the opposing server having no one around to snipe yaks.

For the millionth time, yes please!!!!!
I got all the glass mugs for my guild hall done by playing in PvP Leagues. I get to kill players instead of dust-mites to get the sand. Anet gets players playing their PvP game mode. It’s a win-win situation.
So what you’re saying, CooloutAC, is that I should double-cap points with a teammate to increase my personal score instead of moving off to +1 the fight at mid?
But by running straight into 4v1 over and over and over like a kitten bot. or leaving base and standing around until they see another teammate.
These two statements seem contradictory. Do you have suggestions for these players? If a player is standing around waiting for a teammate to respawn, isn’t that because the rest of the team is all spread out and dying and it makes no sense for that single guy to go 4v1 a point?
Sigh its intentional. Ive seen several people with an open home point just standing around. Nobody there. Easily capable and standing right around the corner. Im not talking about people waiting for back up obviously. Isnt that common sense for you? Why on earth would i complain about someone doing something right? Some people….
Relax. It was just a question to elicit constructive discussion.
Have you checked the guild storage?

Except anet screwed up by not implementing mmr reset and calibration.
Which makes all the qq legitimate, especially the guy who was able to reach Ruby on his alt while his main account is stuck in Emerald.
It is a mystery why the leaderboard hasn’t been reset. The #1 player on that board hasn’t logged in since May.
Also, the rank percent doesn’t look like a meaningful stat at all. The rank is based on points (a measure of how many matches you grind). MMR is probably just used as a point tie-breaker.
I despise the fact that someone can have a lower MMR than me but have a higher division/tier. It’s like having the little league win a match in baseball and giving them the rewards of a pro league team. They’re both playing under the same system with the same progression. MMR should have more meaning to the league system other than (trying to) creating even matches.
That would not have been an issue if they had reset MMR. Starting with a clean slate allows for a faster “sorting” to occur. The only drawback is even more unbalanced matches near the beginning of the league, lots of 500-0s.
Are you using the “Allow Target Change” option and changing targets when you are stomping? That will cause stomp failures.
Know what’s worse about the leaderboard? I just looked at it tonight after prompting from this thread and recognized someone on it above the 99th percentile whose account was perma-banned months ago. LOL.
You know what else? My views of this forum are getting reset. It’s forgetting the last post in this thread that I looked at and taking me to the first post. Has happened to me twice now.
GW2 MMR system is polluted by the followng
- Solo and premade queue mixed. Yes it is a problem. No it’s not as big of a problem as some people make you think it is.
- The tier lock-in for Amber-Ruby divisions giving players who reach a new tier incentive to loose on purpose to manipulate MMR
- A very unbalanced meta that is giving huge advantage in a random way to teams not running full premades. (e.g. oh look match making gave the opposing team two condi mallyx Herald’s and we got a Warrior and a burn Gurdian)
I agree with you on the meaning of divisions, but wouldn’t you agree that the tier locking is somewhat of a safeguard against these flaws?
- I agree 100% that yaks are easy to snipe, guess what, no one is sniping them because, well see above on small groups. People aren’t showing up.,
But he said the yak sniping is what they’re doing in T3. There’s still players playing for PPT like that. You may not be finding them so much in T1. The word was out for months now that T1 has the best roaming. Do you think roamers that transferred to T1 for that are looking to snipe yaks?
Roamers and sniping yaks do not go together. I’m thinking more small havoc teams. Maybe it’s just that TC isn’t in tier 1 anymore and so all havocs are dead.
That being said, even with BG’s havoc teams, and we have several really good ones, we don’t see Yak sniping. I think the mind set just turns into “Well it’s going to get to tier 3 either way, so what’s the point.” Auto upgrades are fine, making them not require yaks isn’t, at least in my opinion.
Also rewards for all of this, but like the class balance discussion, is for another post.
As you wrote, it is a mindset issue; player choice in playstyle. T3 says they have players sniping yaks. You’re not seeing it in T1. Could be a coverage thing since T3 players know they need to delay those upgrades until they have more players on who can take the objective.

I mean, if I can’t stomp a player after trying 3 times then why would I still play?
If you’re using the “Allow Target Change” option, your stomp target will change if you retarget someone else while stomping and it never finishes then.
Megaservers for WvW will do nothing to fix the actual problems plagueing WvW.
I do NOT agree. Especially for coverage, emptiness and imbalance mega-server-technology (or more precise: demand driven map-capacity and grouping of alliances into sides) can do a lot.
- demand driven map-capacity: The coverage problem is mainly one of to much map (and therefore objectives and score) for to few players. In a typical off-time situation there is e.g. 50vs20 or 25vs10 or 20vs5 … (ignoring the 3rd side for simplicity) on 4 maps results in scores of 500+:200- i.e. a score-difference of 300+ per tick. But even 50vs20 can easily fit on 1 map, e.g. EB which limits the available score to 260 and the score-difference will be even smaller. This of course also helps vs emptiness, instead of jumping around on 4 maps, they can fight on 1. So a simple freeze and shut-down of all borderlands outside prime-time (2-4 hours day, maybe 8 on weekends) would already help a lot.
- grouping of alliances into sides Imbalance of EotM is true, but only shows how bad ANet’s current grouping strategy is. This could be done much better, especially when active population over the last rounds is counted (as it is done now for the WvW population calculation). In fact it’s a variant of a well known optimization problem for which many good approximations exist.
If both methods are combined intelligently, coverage, imbalance and emptiness would not be noticable any longer.
I agree with him, but the reason is different. Mega-servers only consolidate the population but WvW will still be plagued by the same stale scoring and reward issues that lead to population decline in the first place. They do nothing to incentivize guilds to perform a long siege (not saying there should be long sieges only that we’re forced into it sometimes), incentivizing non-PPTers to start PPTing, etc. Everyone jokes about how mega-server will make anonymous ktrains like EOTM. Alliances will remove the anonymity yet still guilds go to EOTM for fights and not to do a long siege or PPT. I can’t see that changing with just improved population. See the flaws now?

OH thank you! That helps immensely. It’s been pretty annoying not being able to stomp people sometimes. I’ve been thinking it is lag.
TL;DR: I would highly recommend that while the forums are great to get feedback from the most ardent fans of the game, that Anet actually offers an in-game poll by game mail, asking each player to give input to what they’d like to see in changes.
Yes. Forums suffer from self-selection bias.
WvW has always been a game of supply. Why do you think they nerfed it with HoT?
Why is yet another thread needed on this subject? Hasn’t the horse been beaten enough?

P.s: I guess i can help this thread, cynically.
Stomps are worth five points,. this mean you need a kill total of 100 player’s in a span of 15 min’s OR every team member must kill 20 player’s each. This basically means you must stand on point at all costs! So remember, if you happen across an enemy on the road, just ignore him and skillful run . running is always the answer
er sorry Skillfullyrunning…backcapping
The keyword here being “kill”.
The Mad Cow Attack Strategy
The Mad Cow Attack Strategy involves a key player (the mad cow solo player) rushing far at the start of a match, by himself. Most of the time the solo hero will fail to communicate this strategy until after the match starts—if at all. I think the idea is he may (highly unlikely) be able to win the match at far, or create a 2v1 at far, thus allowing everyone to win the AWESOME outnumbered battles the Mad Cow is creating with this pro move.
Of course, basic math escapes the Mad Cow, and he rarely realizes he is actually creating a situation where the battle is 1-3-1 vs. 0-4-1, having one ally sitting on home defending it against a nobody, while your team is fighting 1 man down on mid. By the time your home defender realizes what the Mad Cow has done, it is too late. Your home defender’s well intended, but fatally tardy, attempt to back up the Mid fight usually ends up with him arriving on point as your first ally is stomped to death—everyone else bleeding profusely.
The best part is, after this happens, the enemy floater will peel back to their home base and engage the Mad Cow 2v1, thus boosting the Mad Cow’s feeling of self worth (he has created the uber powerful outnumbered battle at far). Meanwhile the enemy team easily steam rolls from mid to your home, laying waste to the rest of your team. At some point around this time the Mad Cow looks up from his screen, as he looses the 2v1 on far, and says: “wtf are you noobs doing!? I was 2v1 and you lost EVERYTHING! Go back to PvE!” or something to that effect. :-)
I had a match yesterday like this. The guy stuck with his strategy of starting from spawn and going directly to far then dying from start of the match to the end. Then he qq’d about why team couldn’t cap and hold home and mid and boasted about being able to 1v3 on far. The winning points scored by the other team were his death (yet again) on far point.
Lesson: Pushing far is situational. Learn to rotate.

Everyone wants to be the solo queue hero
Haha yes! So much this. Usually happens when team is behind in points. I try to tell people to refocus on the basics when I see this happening.
No. It is most certainly not worth returning.
What happened to your account name? :O

“Forfeit wins and pip loss
We will be correcting a bug where players can lose pips after a win if someone in their party had disconnected for longer than 2 minutes, causing a forfeit. This fix should be in our next release."
Had a match like that yesterday. The ranger was stomped three times by a teammate but not finished. Then we noticed his pet was about 200 units away and reviving him. So it was some sort of lag with the game desynced as to his actual location. Unfortunately his pet revived him and he downed one of us due to this bug.
Notice too that some of the mats in the Treasury say they are for “Guild Hall Music: Central Tyrian Themes” and “Guild Hall Music: Maguuma Themes” but those are not available as unlocks. The Maguuma Themes one takes Leaf Fossils, which are used for Mission Slot: WvW. You can end up having a member putting in too many Leaf Fossils to the Treasury as a result. I don’t know what happens to the rest. They must be in limbo. Same thing happens for the Central Tyrian Themes, although I can’t recall offhand which mat it is.
You have to understand how very much some folks love their walls
Walls keep the bad people out.
Friday nights are “don’t care” nights now. I agree the “festive” atmosphere of getting off work/school and settling into a weekend of gaming fun is gone.
Additionally, the glicko rating gain/loss of many servers used to be based upon the “padding” provided by the first 2-3 days of a match since Fri-Sat-Sun is when most people put effort into a match. Now it is down to only 1-2 days: Sat-Sun
Hi,
What kind of guild? PvE, PvX, WvW?
Also welcome to http://fort-aspenwood.com
Did you try running a repair on your client? LA is the default spawn location when the game has no idea where you last were.
Guys, stop telling/asking the OP how he’s playing.. Like, u cant even carry as a person anymore in SoloQ in this meta, unless matchmaking sucks.. Oh wait.
The opposite the same way; you wont lose ALL your games just because you’re not that good.
Point the finger to Anet.
Why? Yes soloq is sucking. But if you want to do personally well even if you lose the match, don’t feed the other team points by dying to outnumbered fights.
If your teammates are all dead, start thinking ahead a little more and be aware of when it is time to disengage from the fight and “Save Yourselves!”.
Scaling of Lords: Is this PvE? You have an awesome fight between 3 servers and come out victorious in the castle then to find the lord is still up and the entire enemy zerg can run back at least 2 times between you being able to kill the lord.
This point is confusing. Are you trying to cap or are you trying to have awesome fights by allowing the other servers to have time to run back?
Well. I have friends who barely pvp and who I promise you aren’t particularly good at it (to just be blunt about it) who comfortably reached Sapphire with no issues. Meanwhile, significantly more experienced and skilled players are struggling. Something’s pretty wrong with that, imo.
What’s wrong is the lack of an MMR reset at the beginning of this league or lack of decay from those who haven’t played in awhile.
I thought you guys were from Battle.net/Blizzard. Maybe contact some old friends you know from Battle.net and bribe them for tips (lol).
Mike O’Brien is the only original guy left from that team AFAIK :p
A t1 player complaining about population? Think how kitten it must be on the lower tiers.
Things are great in t2, thanks :]
MFW last night FA Desert BL more fun than EB. Thanks, Based WP bug!
This is not working right for sure so IDK what is causing Byes, not a simple DC. Had a player DC on my team right at the beginning of the match (correction: he was auto-running into the wall at spawn for the first minute or two of the match before DCing). He was able to reconnect but the match was already lost by then. The match got listed as a Defeat for us and a Win for the other team even though it should have by rights been a Bye and Forfeit. Also lost a pip due to this. So broken.
Match: 12/6/2015 Ranked Forest of Niflhel 8m, 24s 252:500 Defeat
I think it’s funny that Anet essentially said “we fixed a waypoint/repel event ‘bug’ that has been paramount in WvW keep battles for the last 3+ years.” Makes me wonder if they truly weren’t aware of this behavior this entire time until recently or if this behavior was just now decidedly labeled a bug that needed “fixing” rather than simply announcing a change being made in how it worked.
Tonight I got the most glorious bag farm from the waypoint at FABL east keep being bugged which allowed TC to respawn again and again and again even though it was contested.
And you’re welcome for the bags.
We debated letting FA have the keep because we clearly weren’t gonna hold it for long once TLC joined the fray, even with the WP bug; but figured what the heck, let’s repair our gear a few times throughout the ruckus. :P
It certainly proved that allowing players to waypoint in during contest events encourages fighting
Tonight I got the most glorious bag farm from the waypoint at FABL east keep being bugged which allowed TC to respawn again and again and again even though it was contested.
I heard that WP is bugged.
Replacing the player organization concept of Servers with one of Alliances would also displace the perception of a shrinking population. This perception is relevant only to customers, because NCSoft and ANet parties and partners are all variously privy to the real data. They make some of these decisions based upon that data, including what they choose to reveal, when, and how.
Auto-allocating current server association to a same-named alliance would displace the perception of lost group loyalty. This can work regardless of the number of WvW tiered matches they produce from the resulting set of alliances. It is entirely possible to create a smaller number of matches from the same number of server/alliance organizational units.
Exactly. It is easy to assume that “server” and “matches” go hand-in-hand since this is what we’ve been playing with. There’s not much of a reason that the two need to be linked as one-to-one relationship, as we know well from the way EOTM works.

That’s great- shame it’s only addressing a symptom rather than the cause, but it’s something. Will your system protect people who are experiencing horrible streaks, or will they become collateral?
Being horrible, or being on a horrible streak will be protected
Being purposely horrible, or being purposely on a horrible streak will not
I hope my forays into unranked where I test a new build/class and am terrible on it aren’t interpreted in the wrong way…
