To me it wasn’t the 50/50 WL thing, but the pip farming and the disabling of not losing pips for dc’s because of dishonor false positives. That was the most frustrating thing about this season. Skill had nothing to do with any of those pip losses.

Note that this screenshot concept is a bit dated, but since lieutenants can now be assigned, would it make sense for them to have a mini tag? Even if it’s just a number, this way everyone within the “subgroup” can follow him/her incase the commander dies, the subgroup just rally to the lieutenant, and “subgroup colors” would make it easier for players to follow/clump together while having the correct range for “boon sharing”, otherwise it’s a sea of blue names on the screen.

They’re using yellow for guild so maybe orange would work for squad, but yes, I’d like a better way to differentiate my subsquad from my squad. When I say things like “Team 1 go to south camp”, I always get someone asking which team they are on. This is one of those annoying UI things that should be an easy fix like the hide/compact inventory bag thing. So what we need to do is find a popular streamer who can complain about it on their stream.
Know what is worse than an MMR reset? Lack of MMR decay.
Just watched JC on the Guild Chat. Didn’t catch all of it, but he did say banners were being nerfed, not removed.

Thanks for passing the feedback on, though this feedback was one of the first things said when Squad UI rolled out. I can’t help but feel like there was a breakdown in the feedback chain.
I just don’t have much sympathy after all the pip farming.

Red team (me included) even have more personal points over the blue team.We managed to kill their lord, and then couldn’t recapture the points in time at the end while some of their team were on our lord.

Sounds like you killed the enemy lord too early. Most players wait until their team has a score of 350 before attacking the enemy lord. Personal points don’t really mean anything, especially if you aren’t holding onto capture points and my guess would be that going after their lord early meant your team was unable to defend what you held. The narrator says right at the beginning of the match, “Hold onto your points! Capture theirs!”

I utilized the principles from Taugrim to come up with my own schema that was comfortable for me (no overreaching) and worked on all classes.

The waypoint rule change has been extremely confusing to players, but I understand the way around it is to use the emergency waypoint tactic.
Does it happen because I have change attack to new target enabled, so it tries to stomp my new target instead of stomping who I pressed F on?
There isn’t any one reason for stomps to be bugged. This is one of them, but not the only reason. Don’t change targets if you are using that option.
Skins for commander tags, like guild emblem. I got excited for this possibility when the mentor tag was released.
Which is why at points in the game you had the vast majority of players in the blob as melee, it was faceroll, pushing was was beyond skilless with the way stab negated hard CC.
And at other points in the game the vast majority of players in the blob are ranged.
This is my only point: the meta causes some classes to be played more than others at different points in the game. Players go to what is fun to play. Melee is not as fun to play right now.
Remember when mesmer confusion was nerfed and suddenly the ubiquitous WvW mesmer was hard to find for getting your golems ported because no one wanted to play mesmer much anymore? Melee is a bit like that now since the stability nerf.
We run melee heavy and we do just fine. Lots of great fights today.
I really don’t get all these stability complaints. It’s more difficult now, yes, but definitely doable.
There were still mesmers running around after the confusion nerf, just less of them.

It’s possible that they were in a party with one of the diamonds, then left the party via the chat command in order to not be told that he was abusing the mmr.

I mean, look at these two matches. You’d think there is something quite wrong there, pushing 50/50 to the extreme. No, there was no dc.
I’m suspect the reason matchmaking seems to be getting worse is because of the increase in players grouping up with a wider variety of levels.

What? I don’t get it. It’s a guild team probably trying to do the PvP guild mission.
Guild league should be a whole different thing and maybe the organized team option you might be looking for for ranked team action.
Yes it should be a whole separate thing, not just some guild challenger leaderboard. Isn’t it true that a game like LoL has league standings divided by SoloQ and TeamQ? So while a player may be Bronze in solo they could be Silver in team?
They said it was fixed but then it seems to have broken again sometime over the holiday. I lost two pips today in a 4v5 where the dc was gone more than 2m and never reconnected.
The problem with dragonbanner isn’t in fights, but when used against small havoc groups trying to put down siege. I doubt very much that Anet ever intended a single defender to have so much power against small groups of attackers.
The way to overcome this issue is to disconnect your Ethernet cable. Then replug. It will give you the 1min to reconnect and you do not get the dishonor you would get if you leave the match.

I have a friend who hasn’t played HoT until just recently. He’s amber. I’m diamond. Am I not allowed to play ranked with him because it might look to some people like I’m abusing the system, when in reality I just wanna have fun with an old friend?
You are allowed, but it will look like abuse to outsiders. It isn’t your fault that the system weights teams like it does. The system should be fixed and give you matches that are around your skill level, not averaged matches, and not you restricted from playing ranked with a friend.
For every game this happens to you, someone else is experiencing the opposite. Perhaps your MMR is higher than your league rank so the system compensates by giving you worse players. Are you a veteran of the game, by any chance?

All you brilliant people; what counter for this do you suggest for the 5-man havoc group that just finished building their catas only to have the siege 1-shot wiped out by that 1 guy with the dragon banner?
Ew, no. I don’t see how this gives solo players a more reasonable chance to reach a higher tier. That problem isn’t really a result of division structure, but the lack of soloq vs teamq.
The vast majority of the matches are like 500-300 w-l and Im not playing any different in the buttkickings then when I win easily. I expect to be matched with people that know the basics the vast majority of the time not people that ping Svanir and Chiefien at the start of every Nifhel match which sadly happens even with diamond and legendary players.

Yea it really seems like something needs to be done with the weight and some consideration given to premades versus all soloqers. There would be less opportunity to exploit pip gain/loss. Players suggest that people should not be able to queue with friends if they are separated by two divisions, but IMHO that’s a bit silly since divisions represent number of matches played really.
Adapting to costumers needs is what will make McDonald’s still be here long after GW2 is dead.
LOL no one here is asking for cheap, processed food with bits of plastic inside of it, but high quality French cuisine. Yea, McDonald’s provides really what customers “need”.

We could not complete a PvP guild mission last night exactly because of queue times.
The way Anet develops content, no discussing anything before its done leads to the major problems with the new map and maps like EotM. I am pretty sure Mike O’Brien and upper management feel that this is their game and player feedback is only for very minor tweaks. We are supposed to play what they give us because they define what the game is supposed to be.

I honestly don’t understand the obsession with wanting to own and manage the game design by those who don’t actually make investments in the company. I suppose it has to do with some nostalgic attachment developed by being a customer for the past few years. Don’t consume the product if you are no longer enjoying it. No one is forcing you to play what you are given. Another game company will compete.
The problem is how in earth some players are ruby, some are so amber type that you want to cry, not to mention when you make a pre-made..it’s like soloing without TS… so that’s it…
And the tier 1 -2 cry babyes… cry more, I tried to queue with them, played once, but never again, they play like a 6 year old child… so sometimes the exploit backfires…

Want to know the secret of how to protect your pips from being farmed that way? Also queue with an amber who knows what they are doing. With many doing this, even to play with friends, the chances are increased that teams with this composition get matched against each other. Win and counter-farm their pips instead.
Friend of mine without HoT got to ruby mostly by soloq and using a burn guardian build.
Protect yourself and your pips. Pair up with an amber too. :/

There’s no reasonable way to know, for certain, that a person queue’d with a friend simply to queue with a friend or with the intention of getting soft matches.
Since there’s no reasonable way to know, you give them the benefit of the doubt instead of calling them cheaters.
…You’ll end up with top tier servers stomping lower tier servers for a week, or the top tier players will need to take time out to allow a more even match up and who is going to choose to do that?! Either way there’s no real fun for either side…
So maybe one week a month, you’ll be in an overwhelming battle.
I guess you weren’t there. It wasn’t one week a month. It was each week over something like two months and the end result was players quitting.
The glicko rating isn’t just a random number. It’s a reflection of actively playing population. When there’s more than 100 point difference between two servers, that always spells bad news when the two get into a match together. It would be better if servers in NA had population and coverage closer to each other like what EU has. It just is a fact of the state of the game in NA that it doesn’t and that’s been by player choice.
Dragonbrand has their bandwagon going again. It is going to be the same pain to an already decimated WvW population in T3 when a rotation starts up again. Again, player choice, players chosing to move there instead of chosing to move to the servers that face DB in order to create good matches.

I mean you want to report and get someone banned because they get frustrated with Anet’s kittenty kitten system. What kind of person do you think that makes you?
In my experience the “PvPers” that go AFK played badly.
Opposite. It’s the bad players(noobs) that still think a 400-100 game is still reachable and, like the OP, gets mad when the only good player on the crap team afks when the score is now 440-100. Seriously this whole legendary backpack made all the PvE players come and think they can master their class in a week. NO. It’s doesn’t work like that. And now they want to report us because we akitten a game that was already a loss.
Tell that to the guy who ragequit my team once only to be matched up against my team the very next match and got destroyed because he ran into an outnumbered fight thinking he was hot kitten and worth something. Yea, he ragequit the other team too.

There was once a solo Q but solo players queued for team Q because queue times iirc plus solo Q tended to be full of complete noob players who had no business playing a ranked match. This was before you had to be at least rank 20 to queue ranked.
Did the other team have like an amber player amongst rubies?
-Class selection-
The first step to ‘carrying’ your team as a solo/duo q, is to pick the correct class. From my knowledge, the best class for this is a supporting class. Namely, bunker mesmer, support tempest, heal druid. Note that this is just my opinion, and is not a fact written in stone. Why? Because to win the game, you have to *1. Win team fights
This one is a sticking point for, I want to say, quite a few of us. For example, I am proficient on none of those classes you named, don’t even have a ranger. My mains are Engineer, then Guardian and then Necro. The only class I could possibly provide some support on in this meta is Engineer but that comes with some short-comings that bunker mesmer and support tempest do not have. I’m at the point where I feel like learning Tempest will help me but I’ll be bad on it and there’s nothing worse than being a bad Tempest in ranked. And I’ve seen enough bad Tempests and Mesmer bunkers in ranked as it is, I mean not even the Tempest who provides no party buffs at the start of the match but players who are dying on incoming in teamfights while I’m basically bunkering the point on my DH!
So I feel that yes, support class is probably one of the ways to go, but players who have no business on the classes that are currently the meta for bunker are trying those classes in ranked and making things worse. IMHO it would be better for players to stick to a class they know well.
