I had no idea that I was missing map completion rewards for Southsun, Dry Top, and Silverwastes since I only have one toon I’ve ever done any map completion on. From Nov 2012 to Nov 2015 for Southsun Cove. Better late than never. LOL! TY.

what seemed to hold true was the loud-mouths on that forum were equally loud in map chat.

Plenty of the loud-mouths there hide their in-game identity while spewing the biggest lies and kitten talk on that forum. It is not really representative of the actual WvW server communities.

I think it is fairly selfish of non-T1 players to demand that players that don’t want to be on their server/tier must stay there.

The difference I have seen in T1 is that the style of a large fight varies greatly often with multiple attack fronts from the same enemy.

There’s a term for that and when it is done in T2 or T3 a lot of tears flow.

You can check the timer for when it’s going to upgrade by clicking on it on your map. This is a thing that could happen pre-HoT too, but you couldn’t check. So…if it’s happening, it’s really your own fault.

No not exactly… Pre-HoT there were workers you could kill to prevent upgrades from happening while you were there.

OK in T3, specifically on Maguuma, we are making a push in NA Prime and EU.

So far it has been really positive in that people are showing up and playing. If more servers do this kind of thing we may be able to resurrect wvw. Perhaps make the BL’s populated again, but it takes a lot of work from the server leaders and the main commanders.

This is Player Driven, and A-Net needs to get the fact that it’s always been the Players that made WvW, not them:)

Yea, the basic idea is that leaders have to LEAD. A lot of things in WvW are completely player-driven since we don’t have “dynamic events” or “meta events” or “hearts” or “escort events” and other PVE stuff like that. It is a sandbox and it only does what you put into it. It is like with pugmanding, if you want to have a following you have to work for it by investing your time to do it. Opponent server ktraining your BL? What are you doing about it? You’re only going to PvD if you don’t respond to defense events.

A lot of GvG guilds cross-over into WvW. That is their roots and many of their players spend time outside of rallies playing casually or roaming in WvW.

Not exactly. It is a little bit of a situation where these changes came too late. The dedicated players already spent a hardcore amount of time and have now “been there, done that”. Guilds look for a high level of competition. If you follow the scene at all you’d know that the competition quality is rather low right now. There wouldn’t be much of a challenge for old guilds.

Population is becoming an issue even on T2 servers (I’m on FA and anything but EBG is routinely empty).

They simply need to revert the server transfer rules so we can adjust the populations ourselves.

The playerbase has already proven it is unable to unfortunately.

The thing that hurt the most a lot of people is the lack of WP…. This make the south without any interest to try to defend… This map should be played with each team who hold is part of the map (like on reset).

Yea I agree. I had hoped the waypoints would be moved to the keeps because having them there makes the keeps valuable. There’s not much of a reason to hold west or east keep right now. I suspect this problem may be alleviated once guilds finally can build emergency waypoints, like in 1 more month :/

Seeing the costs on the low level tactics, do you think people will actually use this? For instance, the increased supply depot is 5g per use.

Since materials costs go up significantly per tier in crafting, do you think that an objective will be worth 20 to 30 g (a guess ) to have a waypoint in it?

At that point, isn’t a matter of who has the most gold wins as opposed to the best strategy or tactics?

Oh RIP. I haven’t seen the costs yet myself.

What about coverage issues? Even YB, JQ and BG have hours of the day where less than 20 people are playing across all maps. The current server system is fundamentally flawed and I see no easy path to a fix.

Guild alliances would go a long way toward resolving population and coverage issues. No system is perfect but at this point I believe it is worth the effort.

I’m not sure why you’re asking when I mentioned coverage. But yea, even alliances would have coverage issues, not sure why you think they would ‘go a long way toward resolving’.

Hi Chaba.5410,

You can change it to first-person camera in the game setting. It’s in the first tab (General Options) under subheading “Camera.” There should be a box called “Enable First-Person Camera.”

How do you pair anything with a server like BG particularly when they are running full force? They can instance matches like EotM but that would obliterate identity.

A lot of path use the teleport from rampart or the pad from palace…

But don’t worry, continu to defend the new map and all the new game mechanics.
But I see EB with 50 man queue, and no queue on BL… And BL empty during the day…
Do you think that all those people just don’t want to learn the new map ? They don’t like the new map and / or the new mechanic.

If this new map was so incredible we should see more people playing in game. We should see queue on BL… But nop… We don’t see that…

Yea I didn’t film that route because I filmed a “defense route” not the route an attacker would take. The video isn’t meant to be exhaustive but an introduction. Once you are familiar with the basic routes and approaches, it gets extremely easy to modify them for a different context.

Like, from NW Spawn you can run the red line and head towards the NW sentry by the yellow line instead of taking the elevators if you do not own garrison. That NW wall is breakable. I can’t predict which gate or wall your commander is going to want to attack. Maybe you’ll have to jump over the barricade to get to the gate. /shrug

Or like some of the routes into Bay I went on the lower level which gets your force to outer and I skipped using the elevators which take you to inner or the lava portals which require shrine. Most of these alternate routes depend upon context. If I attempted to film every context, it would take forever to do and make for too much video that people wouldn’t want to watch.

Edit: The thrusting rock obstacles aren’t that bad once you learn them TBH. They always pop up in the same place and same position and they have one side that is always open. In one of my offense routes videos I wasn’t even familiar with where exactly they would be open but I managed to hop, skip, and jump through while the dust storm was going and I made it through without getting majorly caught to my surprise. LOL

I’ve gotten two different answers to the questions…One says his Charr friend can hear the call even though he’s a Charr…one says it will only work for Sylvari….

What’s the actual answer?

It sounds like a bug if his charr friend couldn’t hear. I brought an asura along in my sylvari instance and she heard Mordremoth speak.

If it’s any help, here’s my gold vid:

Basically, you need to get the first 20 targets (which always spawn in the same place) as fast as absolutely possible.

You’ll notice I hit the 20th target with ~1:13 remaining. That will give you more time to hit the next 20 targets which spawn randomly. By this I mean if you hit the 20th target at like 1:00 left, then it’s probably a safe bet you won’t get gold that run – and you can just reset at that point.

Now it did take me many attempts to get this – so much so that I will probably not do any more challenges until ANet possibly tweaks the gold limits on other hard ones like Falling Masks.

Oh one more thing. Whenever you get to the 40th target, I highly recommend using skill #2 (like I do in my vid) instead of skill #1 as I missed gold the prior night by literally a 1/2 second by missing target 40 with my first skill #1 shot (I hit it the second time, but the timer had just expired argh!)

Wait, how did you get a first-person view? I don’t have action camera keybound yet. When doing this adventure it just dropped me into action camera with my character right in front and in the way so I couldn’t see kitten. I could not zoom in to first-person view even with that checked.

The sticking point is that there is little fundamental difference between servers and alliances. For every criticism of servers, there’s an associated criticism of alliances since servers are functionally alliances.

Servers are inflexible, alliances wouldn’t be. Its far easier in an alliance system to deal with issues of off hours coverage and indeed with population issues in general.

Alliances cannot solve the coverage and population issue. They’re just an entity of organization, a method by which a player participates in a match. Some alliances would include guilds from different timezones and some not, just like servers struggle with now. The matching system would still need to group together alliances to fill in spaces in coverage.

It may not solve it but its easier to overcome which is what I said. But if I’m reading your post above this right about organising servers into factions then I actually agree that may be a middle ground thats acceptable.

I don’t see an overwhelming need to program some new interface to join an organizational unit beyond guilds and servers when servers are functionally alliances of guilds and independents. The development resources could be better spent on the core issue: creating matches that “fill in the coverage holes” rather than only between individual servers. And that would go far to keep current server community relationships intact (appeasing that crowd) while also improving the competitiveness of matches. The only drawback would be when rival server “alliances” end up on the same team. There might be some salt.

I’ve done WvW from the start and I’ve given the new BL maps the chance to draw me in but no matter how much I play on the new BL maps there is nothing wanting me to come back and play on them. It’s just to much of a pain to navigate around and way to much verticality for my taste for a PvP map.

The WvW portions of the guild hall experience should be gained through WvW content. Some of the mats are so PvE-oriented that a true WvW guild would/should never be able to attain them without spending massive coin.

Each week the matching system would pair alliances into factions across several matches. Every match wouldn’t be perfect and there will certainly be strong alliances but it would still be significantly better than it is today.

I feel like you didn’t read what I wrote. There is nothing functionally different between a server and an alliance. The flaw is in the matching system that doesn’t “fill in the spaces”. There is no need to spend development time creating a new thing called an alliance when all that is needed is for servers to be paired into factions for a match.

And you are welcome to argue (on behalf of the “vast majority”) with the multiple people in this thread, besides me, who have pointed out problems with this plan.

Every issue brought up has been addressed save one… players that don’t want to align to a guild alliance. Oddly in the current server system those players are aligned… to a server instead of an alliance. I cannot understand why this particular point is a sticking point. Logically it makes no sense.

There are reams of posts addressing the many flaws with a server v server system here and on other forums. The server system is a massively flawed design that has outlived its usefulness. That said if you have a better idea, I am listening.

The sticking point is that there is little fundamental difference between servers and alliances. For every criticism of servers, there’s an associated criticism of alliances since servers are functionally alliances. You’re looking through the lens of hindsight where after three years there’s established guilds and alliances. If alliances existed at the very beginning of the game, it would still be the same with players randomly picking an alliance just as they randomly picked a server and changing alliances to stack them.

The real flaw isn’t whether players are organized by server or alliance. It is that the game doesn’t “fill in the spaces” in matches.

Many had thought they would’ve done it? I don’t think so. It was clear from Corpening’s statement months ago that some crucial development for WvW with regards to population issues wasn’t going to be worked on until after HoT. I had no such expectation of “battlegroups” for HoT. I seen the idea passed around before though. It could be a good start.

I asked all my guild members to trait into Supply Master first. Supply in the new WvW is more valuable than it was previously due to increased scarcity with siege engine costs and distances to supply camps. Yea, not having the +5 buff sucks. We’re still trying to get to War Room and we’re a medium sized guild. It doesn’t help that a lot of members have other guilds they’re trying to upgrade too: i.e. one for WvW, one for PvE, etc. It is my understanding that a lot of other guilds have just been throwing gold at the upgrade costs whereas we haven’t.

Those barricades were walls in the beta. They were changed to player-breakable barricades thankfully. Two sets of the barricades were also removed.

I think the point was to prevent players from free trebing from the safety of keeps. At least that was a complaint often laid forward about the old BLs. I got the impression, the idea there was to for e people out of keeps in order to siege another keep. Thus creating more organic open field fights.

The more I read threads complaining about the new borderland, the more funny in an ironic sort of way it gets. Anet should just stop listening to players because clearly the new map does some things that attentive readers remember players asking for, such as breaking up zergs, encouraging fights in open field, and an end to upgrade costs.

Inculpatus, the map completion rewards missing issue is separate from the map reset bug that was just fixed for affected players. There’s no ETA on the map completion bug afaik.

Wow it could have been done a little differently than making it seem like the account was banned. Thanks for the link though.

There is probably no function in the game to allow them to do it any differently, account bans are the only way possibly to prevent a user from logging in. I think it is funny
