Trading Post 2.0 (Last Feature pack Arcticle)

Charrbeque.8729

The new selling UI in the Trading Post explicitly calls out both the listing fee and the exchange fee, so there shouldn’t be any surprises when selling.

Thank you Anet! Nothing more confusing, for example, seeing a listing fee of 5 copper but the profit shows 10 copper less than the buy order. I’ve been playing this game since May 2014 so I’m still a noob. Thank you for finally being up front on the costs of selling stuff.

I love all the other changes too and have no complaints. Finally able to search equipment based on stats such as power or vitality, and overall the buying and selling interface being much easier to use. I look forward to this going live.

I am not disappoint.

Edit: OMG! They making it so the BLTC loads faster. Squeeee! I noticed this was the case during the 2 year anniversary sale in the gem shop. It was much faster to load but after the sale it went back to taking a minute or so to load anything in the window, though it wasn’t nearly as bad as it was before the sale.

Again thank you very much Anet for the TP changes.

Blegh. All y’alls are haters! If every other MMO allows this and a trading post system why can’t we?

As someone who was a resident of Spamadan in GW1, I’m extremely thankful for the Trading Post.

Me too. I really wish Anet would have come up with a TP system for GW1. They did eventually add in a trade chat channel but some players still spammed local and zone chat.

With the TP if I have a valuable item I don’t have to sit there saying it once every 2 minutes for hours trying to sell it with most offers being way lower than what I’m asking for. And if I want to buy something I don’t have to sit there all day saying “WTB” and the only offers I get are from people who want more than I can afford and/or more than what perceived value among the community is. In other MMOs that have a TP type system, I prefer to use that only.

So I am very grateful for the system we have in place and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Game Updates: Traits

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

I’ll be honest. I don’t like what we need to do to acquire a lot of the traits. It’s frustrating having to complete a dynamic event that is part of an event chain and not knowing how to start the event and running around the map trying to figure things out for an hour only seeing a few players in the zone and standing around for a while at the location hoping others will get it going so you can help out. It’s way to time consuming if you have to start the event chain from the very beginning.

Oh sure, go kill a champion but you get there just before it’s dead and you can’t hit it enough, or in time, to receive credit for it. Then you have to wait a half hour or however long it takes for the stupid champ to respawn again.

It isn’t too expensive to buy traits from the skill trainer and he has every single trait for your profession available to buy. I would rather just buy my traits I need than run around having to do group content that requires a group of players and the event is on a timer.

[Suggestions] Gemstore Items

I would like outfits, mini pets, armor skins, and weapons skins added permanently to the gem shop so I can buy them when I’m able to. There have been items I wasn’t able to get but did buy gems a week or so after they were gone.

Also I would love to see some GW1 costumes made for GW2, especially this in particular http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Raiment_of_the_Lich

And this http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Ravenheart_Witchwear I was disappointed with the “Witch” costume in GW2 because the male version looks nothing like the female version like it was in GW1. It’s nice but I want a pointy hat and trenchcoat for my Charr.

Home Portal Stone

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

I think the OP gives too much credit to ANet in this case: there are almost no “comforts” in any home instance. There’s no bank and you can already get to any city for free, via the mists. And the boomerang effect is cancelled if you exit the home instance to anywhere except your originating location.

So the only convenience is being able to gather from your home’s nodes; that’s not “all the comforts,” that’s a “reduce the loading screens” effect.

ANet is terrible about hyping their own products. They give too much credit to little things (“all the comforts of home” or “changes galore”) and too little credit to things that would get a lot of positive attention (has anyone noticed how rarely people get ruined mats now? they fixed a bug that really irked people and never mentioned it in the patch notes).

That’s all I use my home portal stone for. I have candy corn, sprockets, quartz crystals, and the basic metal nodes and tree nodes from the gem shop. Super convenient and quick way to complete my daily gathering achievement.

And you never know. They may one day come out with bank and/or trading post access for your home instance for purchase in the gem shop some day.

Lol what a wise decision my friend. I’m glad you’re loving being a victim of Anet’s greediness Have fun melting your gold reserves

Copper does the same if you’re shallow and all you care is the voice haha!

But thanks for the laugh though!

Added some apostrophes for you where appropriate since your key seems to be busted and added capitalization since you seemed to forget in some places.

I don’t have any gold reserves and I sure as hell don’t consider myself a “vicim”. I was fully aware of what I was buying before I bought it.

I’m playing it smart. I saw many threads with tons of complaints about the Silver-Fed Salvage-o-Matic so I bought one. Because if Anet takes the feedback to heart they may reduce or eliminate the costs in the future. Then I’ll be laughing as others are kicking themselves for not buying it when they had the opportunity, because there’s no telling when or if it will be available again.

And if they ignore player feedback, so what? I got me an infinite use salvage kit that is equal to a master salvage kit. Unlike some people I find value in getting rarer materials and runes. Minor runes don’t sell to vendors for much but every little bit helps and most major runes I get I can sell in the TP for at least a couple more silver than what a merchant will give me. And some rare materials would give me a lot more silver in the TP than the basic mats like Mithril Ore. I’ve never bought the Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic because it doesn’t have equal stats to the best salvage kit I can buy from a merchant.

Wardrobe and Minis

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

There is one question I have and I can’t find if anyone else has asked it yet. Will there be a transmute charge to change to take out a mini you have unlocked in your wardrobe, in other words say you have one unlocked mini out and you want to change to a new one, is it free to do so, or will there a charge for it? Because if there is a charge then this will make me and a lot of people unhappy. I love the new system it makes running with minies more convenient, but if we are charged for each time we want to change out a mini for a different one that will not be fun!

What the? Are you serious? The dev blog didn’t say anything about being charged in any way shape or form for anything to do with minis. Do you know how many players would be upset if we suddenly had to use transmutation charges to use a different mini? I have no idea either but I can guarantee you I’d uninstall the game.

Just because minis are being added to the wardrobe doesn’t mean they will function like changing your weapons and armor skins. They are being added there for convenience.

Sheesh. Anet is greedy but not stupid.

I’d like them to do away with transmutation charges all together. I refuse to ever buy any. What I’m left with is (1)Wait until I eventually have enough free charges from doing dailies, map exploration, monthlies, etc. (2)Be stuck with the same exact look for a long time. (3)Buy extra copies of the same exact same items to have each set with a different look that clutters up my inventory.

With so many weapon and armor skins this is evidence of their nickle-and-dime you to death greed. Heck I’d settle for tailor NPCs being added to various cities and charge us a few silver to change our weapon/armor skins. But whatever.

new pvp rewards
class balance (so u wont cry that warrior is op)
more “traits” for wvw
commander color, not a big change but can have a big effect if used right
megaserver maybe this time it will be right, if no the heck so ull miss tequatl or just need to be ready 20 min ahead
u dont get kicked from dungeon wen the leader leaves
a small but nice improvment for crafting + new back pieces
fresh start, eaither a new member or a 2 years members starts a new class and will have easier life lvling
finishers and minis im not fan of that but i know alot of people who are
new collection achivment, more ap more loot, even if u dont get profit for it, its an extra goal.
Anet i paid once for the game but you keep adding staff every now and then, even if its a mere dagger or gs skin
Thank you! 2 years and im still enjoying
all you 12 year old cry babys are ungreatfull

Throws bucket of water on computer to put out flame war

Look, just because Anet doesn’t recall millions of minis for stuck throttles doesn’t mean we have no right to complain.

If nobody complained about the game it would mean the game is perfect and there would never be a need for improvements and/or additional stuff added to the game.

I spent $150 total on gems for the month of August. Despite the millions of threads complaining about the silver fed salvage o matic I bought it anyway and I have no regrets.

Why is there No Dueling and no Trading

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

it’s like an option to block trade and/or duel requests wouldn’t ever be considered if any of these things were implemented.

Even with a setting to not allow any duel requests you would still have that one jerk harassing you for not wanting to duel. Sure you could put them on your ignore list but then other players make fun of you for what that jerk is saying and/or start harassing you themselves and/or they start following you around and won’t leave you alone. It would end up creating an unfriendly environment in the game. I have had it happen to me in other games and those games did have the option to always block duel requests.

Keep PVP where it is. I can’t stand open world PVP or dueling. Nothing more annoying than being constantly harassed by some duelist or getting ganked by somone a few levels higher than you and/or have way better gear than you while you’re out exploring, gathering crafting materials, questing, etc. If I want abuse I’ll go to WvW or PVP.

If they would have done the sale after the announcement, people would be yelling “Anet so greedy” at the moment. Which they still will, but to a lesser extent.

Actually I think it would be the opposite. Having the sale before the announcement means some players may have purchased more than 1 copy of a mini from the gem shop so they don’t have to transfer it using their account bank. I’m surprised nobody has complained about it yet nor asked about the extras they actually purchased from the gem shop since we will soon only need 1 mini to unlock it on all characters. There should be a trade in or refund given to players with extra copies of account bound minis purchased from the gem shop (I’m referring to minis that can’t be sold or traded).

Edit: I see what you’re saying. If they made the announcement before the 2 year anniversary sale they might have sold even more minis that were available for a few days at a time. I’m still wondering about what they’ll do for players who may have purchased multiple copies of the same mini from the gem shop. (I only buy 1 copy because I’m not too lazy to use my account bank to transfer it)

Cool beans Anet, now make them faster so they don’t trail half a mile down the road behind my character. If minions in FF14 can stay no more than ~meter from me there’s no reason minis can’t also.

I would actually bother buying them if they didn’t disappear over the horizon every time I try to run anywhere.

In my experience any time my mini gets too far behind it will suddenly teleport directly to my location. I’ve always liked that about this game.

Wow. My mini Southsun Kasmeer is now 329.99 gold. Up from about 30 gold or so. O.o
Supply went from 60 to 2.

Wow. I bought that mini around June or July and payed 71 gold for it. I’m glad I have it now. No way am I ever selling it. I spent weeks trying to get it by saving crafting materials I gathered then selling them in the TP. It took longer to get the mini because I wound up buying exotic equipment and having to start over and over on the materials to sell.

Ha! I bought Teq for +9g 2 hours ago. Now is at 20g.

Better hurry and get all the minis now :P

Are people referring to Mini Tequatl the Sunless or a different mini Teq? I just bought one for under 7 gold 2 days ago for my collection I’m working on. I was poor and wound up with about 60 silver after buying it but I’m very glad I did now.

@Anet:
Please make the series 1 through 3 mini packs available in the gem shop permanently. I just started working on getting series one. I bought 4 series 1 packs the other day from the gem shop with real money and bought a bunch of the minis from the trading post.

Since these mini packs are not available at all times it means my collection expansion will stall because I won’t be able to afford to buy the minis in the TP.

I would like to see all other gem shop mini pets, armor/weapons skins, outfits, added to the gem shop permanently so I can buy them at my convenience instead of when you want me to. I missed my chance for the mini pig, mini jaguar cub, and mini jungle worms 3 pack (I bought gems for real money about a week after the worms weren’t available anymore). I have bought gems since then but haven’t seen these items make a return yet.

Heck, I spent a total of $150 on gems for the month of August, so I am willing to support the game. The problem is I end up not being able to buy gems when minis and/or armor skins are in the shop for a limited time and when I can buy gems it’s not available for who knows how long, if ever again.

Why is there No Dueling and no Trading

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

No dueling!

I’ve played other MMOs with dueling. It’s bad when you get a duel request and after denying it several times, eventually the one sending you the requests starts harassing you, calling you names, and being down right mean about it. Then you get so mad you either leave the map to get away from them or actually accept their request. If you accept their request they beat you in a few seconds then laugh at you in front of everybody and continue to insult you. They usually do this to players a few levels lower than them, obviously not geared as good as them, and just as you happen to be passing by.

So no, I despise dueling in games. If I want to fight other players I’ll go to a PVP zone, as it should be.

As far as player to player trading: don’t care. I prefer the trading post anyway so I’m not standing in town for several hours just trying to get rid of something, or buy something. When selling you sometimes get an offer that is way less than what you want and/or what most players would say it’s worth. When buying you give an offer you think is fair and you get laughed at, even if you offer what it’s worth or a little more. Some players just overcharge for stuff.

Targeting Still Broken Please Fix It!

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Same issues here. I’ve been playing this game since May 2014.

Issues: pressing the tab key to select a target most of the time selects a target that is further. Sometimes the target is close enough to be hit and I end up aggroing something I didn’t want to fight. The same goes for clicking a skill to automatically select a target. I could have an enemy right in front of me attacking me with melee attacks and still end up targeting/hitting something else. Some times I’ll press the tab key again and again to try and target what I actually want to attack but it just cycles through everything further away. I often times have to resort to clicking the ground to deselect the target then left click what I actually want to fight. And often times I just left click what I want to fight ahead of time. It is quite frustrating to say the least.

Gem shop items outdated

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Charrbeque.8729

I bought the Bouquet of Roses a couple days ago from the gem shop and the info in the shop said it had to be equipped in a toy slot and something about town clothes. I figured this was just an outdated description in the gem shop and bought it anyway. Well I was wrong. I couldn’t use the item I just payed for with gems I bought with real money. I felt cheated for a moment only to read the tooltip on the item. It said I had to go to a black lion trader and exchange it for a new bundle item. Well it didn’t say which trader that I recall. I went to the weaponsmith and saw just a bunch of weapon skins. I talked to the armorsmith and chose to ask him about town clothes and there was an option to trade in my old town clothes stuff. So I did manage to get a proper useable version of the Roses. But all this confusion and anger could have been avoided if the gem shop item was updated to the new version before you sold it.

Infinite use gathering tools from gem shop – some of them (mainly the mining picks I think) say they are used to gather all while others say they are equal to Orichalcum. There is a recent thread discussing this in the BLT forums. It seems some players are confused and wondering what the difference in the tools are. It’s leading to speculation about tier 7 materials coming to the game eventually making the tools that are equal to Orichalcum useless for gathering the new materials, while others are saying the is no difference and the tools should be useable for all types of materials no matter what. So the text info on these items need to be updated. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/Gathering-Tools-All-versus-Orichalcum/first#post4354503

Gathering Tools - All versus Orichalcum?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

I bought the Bouquet of Roses a couple days ago from the gem shop since it looked like a fun item. Well the info for it in the gem shop said it had to be equipped in a toy slot and said something about town clothes. Well I figured it was just an outdated item description and bought it anyway. Turned out I couldn’t use it at all. The item showed it did 0 damage and went into a toy slot. I was mad for a few seconds until I read the rest of the tooltip. Turns out I had to take it to a black lion trader NPC and exchange it for a new bundle item. It didn’t say which trader though. I tried the weaponsmith and no go. I tried the armorsmith and that did it.

So my theory is the infinite use gathering tools from the gem shop that say they are equal to orchalcum tools were the first tools to be released and later Anet decided to use a different description on the new tools but didn’t update it on the old tools.

Pretty lazy if you ask me. Selling a town clothes toy item instead of updating it to a newer version confused, and upset me, until I found I had to trade it in to a certain NPC for an updated version. The same goes for the gathering tools as this thread points out. They need to stop being lazy and update text info on items and create new versions of the old toy items before trying to sell outdated stuff in the gem shop.

I don’t see anywhere on there where they say they are anet. Looks like a roleplayer.

The player is insinuating they have the authority to take action against another player’s account which means they are trying to impersonate ArenaNet staff. It doesn’t matter if they are “roleplaying”. You can’t go around telling people that you, personally, have the power to ban a player’s account.

To the OP:
I highly doubt Anet staff would send you a whisper for a rules violation. They have a habit of looking at the situation first and if they find you are violating the rules they will straight up take action against your account. Their policy in the past (and may still be today) is that a temporary suspension, or permanent ban, from the game is the warning. You would probably receive an email explaining what you did wrong if that were the case.

If Anet staff were ever visible in the game they would most likely have a special tag on their name such as “GM_Username” or something similar and/or their name and/or message in the chat may have a special color for the text.

I highly doubt an Anet GM would have a character named ‘Banbot’ or anything close to it.

Dude, someone has a character name they think is cute and they are messing with you to try and be funny. If it happens again report them for harassment and if possible explain that you think they are impersonating ArenaNet staff. If anything they will get suspended for harassment.

Dry Top Events Could Use A Balance Pass

in Living World

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

Could you be specific as to which events you’re referring to, and how you feel they could be improved?

It would be great if a list could be put together with a brief comment about what balance changes people feel would improve a particular event.

Cheers.

When episode 1 was released and the first part of Dry Top opened up there were a lot of complaints and suggestions about it.

The major complaints I’ve seen: The jumping puzzle and getting to the diving goggles is too hard for a lot of us. Personally I’ve only been able to get up there twice and managed to get the JP achievement. But I’ve never been able to get to the diving goggles. Each time after that when I try to get back up there I always fall to my death (ironically I land next to the small pool of water). Part of the problem is that the aspect crystal expires after you make it to the top but before you can even figure out where to jump up for the goggles. Which brings me to another common complaint.

Having to use aspect crystals to get around drytop. Some of the jumps and leaps are too tricky for some players and often times the crystals don’t even work right. For example using lighting pull will throw you only halfway to where you placed the target causing you to miss a platform and suddenly fall straight down. The assisted leap crystal will launch you at an angle instead of straight up, even if you’re standing in a spot that looks perfectly level.

In the Uplands section there is a legendary giant that is extremely hard to kill. 5 or 6 players have a tough time taking it down and when more players show up, the giant scales with the amount of players and it ends up taking around 30 or so people to take it down, on top of there being a time limit.

Various events to complete are too difficult and you’re not able to do some of them due to time running out and the sandstorm starting/stopping thus ending any events you were in the middle of or couldn’t get to. Because of this it’s hard to get enough players to get the zone to tier 4 or higher and often times players try to find a “ferry” to a high tiered instance so they can purchase certain items from the vendor that aren’t available at lower tiers.

SILKY SAND! What bookah thought that up? At least half of the time I get NOTHING from it and when I do get something it’s only a single geode. No lockpicks. No equipment. Nothing but a single geode if I ever do get something from it.

The fossilized bug things you have a chance to get from locked chest that you trade in for materials that are required to craft the amber equipment recipes. The drop rate on the bugs is very low according to players but it’s the only way to craft some of the items you can get recipes for from the Dry Top vendors.

All of this has been debated, and more, with each new open area of Dry Top. Sure there were a lot of complaints and some ranting, but there was a lot of constructive feedback on it also. And you’re coming in here giving off the impression that Anet wasn’t away of any issues at all about the map. If you bothered to actually read the forums you would have known from the beginning there were issues.

IS THAT SPECIFIC ENOUGH FOR YOU?! Unlike you I actually read the forums to see what other player’s thoughts are. I usually don’t comment much, but I stay posted on what’s what, which is what you should be doing.

If you want content that is harder
Try doing a dungeon without armor

Beat the boss in the nude
And people will worship you dude

You’ll keep up with the best speed runners
While leaving behind all the others

Try PVP without using your elite
And soon enemies will start kissing your feet

I don’t want content that is harder
I could care less about being a martyr

I would rather go play with the skritts
’Cause your challenge gives me the schlitz!

Once for each episode. On a single character. Don’t know if I plan to do them on any others. I recently got a second character to level 80 but my other 2 alts are level 35 and 19 so it’s gonna be a while.

Don’t care about trying to get pain in the neck achievements for junk loot that isn’t worth anything.

GW2 rules of conduct and leechers in PvP

in PvP

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

GW1 had the option to report leeching. Why can’t we be cool like a game made 10 years ago?

Because it never did any good. The massive amounts of leechers that kept getting the Dishonorable hex turned into massive amounts of obvious bots. Nothing more fun then realizing most, or all, of your team in the Jade Quarry arena were bots. Every. Single. Match. PVP in GW1 wound up being unoffically dubbed “Bot Wars”.

GW1 PVP ruined all PVP for me in any MMO I might play. And judging by this thread, I’m glad I decided when I bought GW2 that I will never in a million years even attempt any kind of PVP in this game. Not even for special achievements and/or rewards.

You posted this in the gameplay bugs report section of the forums and it sounds more like a suggestion.

I have no idea what you are talking about when you say “free accounts”. This game is not free-to-play. You have to purchase it in order to play it and all accounts have access to all of the same content and features.

It sounds like you’re requesting that free trial accounts get access to more stuff of the game and I don’t think that is gonna happen.

Achievements are way too easy

in Living World

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

they are difficult enough, if you want more difficult achievements chase the more difficult ones.
try to max the overkill with a necro, try to survive long enough to get the survivor achievement with anything but a guardian, make something out of it instead of using an already OP profession and complain that “it’s to easy”.

On my level 80 warrior I got the overkill achievement by picking up a boulder I found lying on the ground and threw it at an ambient creature. I think it was a mosquito or a rabbit. I can’t remember. So try killing an ambient creature for the achievement. Since those types of creatures only have like 1HP, it’s the very definition of “overkill”.

To be honest I get sick of elitists sayings “it’s too easy; make it harder” and offer no advice on how players can do it differently to make it easier for themselves. Not all of us are as skilled as you. There is no reason to make content harder than it already is for the average player just because you are super skilled and coordinated.

Piles of Silky Sand

in Living World

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

I used about 110 sand the other day and all I got was about 5 geodes. I think I have received a couple lockpicks before, but that’s pretty much it.

Did you guys know they are selling silky sand in the gem shop? There is a Zephyrite Rescue Pack for 1,000 gems and part of it is a stack of 250 silky sand. It takes 10 sand to use for a chance to get anything, so that’s 25 chances to get something from it.

Silky sand: dumbest idea Anet ever come up with. We should be guaranteed at least 5 geodes per use with a chance to get more and a rare chance to get a lockpick or other item.

Sidenote: The merchants should sell regular merchant items for coins, not coins and geodes. I have to go somewhere else to get master salvage kits because the amount of geodes I get are so low I cant afford regular stuff like that. I don’t care if the cost is half the silver price of regular vendors. I’d rather pay 15s for a salvage kit than 8s and 100 geodes.

Trouble at Fort Salma severely bugged

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

Confirmed.

1) I was downed once before I got inside the fort at the point I have to look for survivors or something, due to the enemies doing tons of damage and causing tons of conditions. (Seems to be a common theme with this episode)

2) After I got inside the fort and the NPCs went through their dialogue, there was a large green arrow on the map showing the path I needed to take. This was wrong! the path leads down to a pit with monsters and constant poison and I didn’t see a way up there to get to where I needed to go while avoiding the poison. The poison downed me in seconds and the enemies finished me off, all 4 or 5 of them. Marjory tried to revive me after I died in the poison, but the poison did too much damage for me to be revived. Kasmeer just stood there doing absolutely nothing during this time. I had to “Retry at a checkpoint”. I found the path you’re suppose to take to get past the poison area. It was across the southern wall above the poison, not where the giant green arrow on the map pointed which was at the northern end on the other side of the poison.

3) When I got to the green star Marjory gave instructions on what to do while at the same time Kasmeer had spoken dialogue going off at the same time making it hard to understand what I was suppose to do. They kept doing this for a little, both speaking their dialogue at the same time every so often. I was downed by a tendril that was attacking a bone minion and I managed to use my rally skills to kill it which auto revived me. During this time they were both speaking their dialogue at the same time, but as soon as I got back up I noticed that both Marjory and Kasmeer were gone. According to the OP they were on the wall or something. I didn’t look. Due to the bugs I just got out of enemy range, waited until I was out of combat, then used the nearby waypoint to exit the instance, then finally closed the game down for the day.

Like episode 1 of the new living story a couple weeks ago, when I logged in there was a glowing green star on the right of my screen above the mini map. When clicking the star a window pops up telling me it’s now unlocked and gives me the option to open the story journal. So if you’re not seeing the new episode unlocked, look for a big glowing green star on your screen.

Traiding Post bug

Charrbeque.8729

Hello,
When ever i load up the trading post, it comes up with the search bar but I cant acctually search, also there is nothing under it, please help!

This happens to me every single day. The first time I open the BLTC window, the gem shop appears blank and so does the trading post. All I get is that animated circle in the middle of the window indicating it’s loading.

How to fix: close the BLTC window and wait a few seconds then open it again. Do this a few times if necessary. Usually once it finally loads it will be fine for the rest of the time I’m logged in. But if I exit the game and launch it again it will happen again. Really annoying.

I’m able to display my GWAMM title on all of my characters.

Here is an idea on how to fix it for you: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Hall_of_monuments#Notes

If you do not see your rewards being offered by Kimmes, the following solution has fixed the issue with some accounts:

Log back into Guild Wars 1 and speak to Kimmes in your Hall of Monuments.
Toggle your hall display between character-wide and account-wide.
Return to Kimmes in Guild Wars 2.

Make sure you’re not logged into guild wars 2 → log into guild wars 1 and go to your hall of monuments → talk to Kimmes and have him show you your account contributions → exit guild wars 1 and log into guild wars 2 and see if that fixed it.

Aerin fight is boring and lame

in Living World

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

I haven’t seen any mention of this, though I haven’t read every single comment regarding the Aerin battle in the new living story.

Anybody who spent time in boss blitz in the Crown Pavilion during the recent Festival of the Four Winds would have an idea on how it works and what to do. I got all the boss blitz achievements myself.

He drops a powder keg with a large orange circle around it that explodes causing a lot of damage and knockback like Boom-Boom.

He causes smaller explosions indicated by several small orange circles like Wiggin.

He teleports from platform to platform and sometimes won’t stay put in a single spot for long like Sparcus Firesplash.

Aerin didn’t seem to have Kuraii’s trample ability, and definitively not the birds that surrounded Shurakk the Savage. I don’t think he had the bouncing fireballs of Pyroxis, but I only completed LS once so far and can’t remember.

He did seem to have a lot of health like a boss blitz boss, though it wasn’t too much of a big deal when I was able to attack him with my warrior’s greatsword.

Basically once I realized I was doing a small boss blitz it wasn’t too hard. I stayed on the main large platform and attacked him with my longbow while dodging the explosions. If I dodged off the platform, or had to get off it because I wouldn’t be able to avoid anything if I stayed on it, I just made my way up the ramp (no need to use a crystal to jump back up there). He will stay on the main platform in the middle for longer than the outer platforms, so trying to jump across with a crystal to get to him was pointless since he would probably be on another platform by the time you got there.

I did notice something though: in the first fight where you have to use a sun crystal to break his shield, your NPC allies didn’t do squat for damage. It’s possible the reason for his high health is so we can’t just hang back and let the NPC allies do all the work with us just using a sun crystal when needed. And the fight on the platforms they go down below and fight endless spawns of tendrils. Though in that fight it wouldn’t work for them to help you fight Aerin anyway. They would probably just go to the main platform and get killed by the explosions forcing you to have to fight him anyway, because it would be too complicated to program their AI to work properly.

In other words, Anet wanted us to actually have to fight this boss and not ‘AFK’ it. I’m cool with that but I think Aerin’s health could be reduced a little. It took me about 20 minutes for the final fight due to having to dodge all the explosions, sometimes falling off the main platform and having to get back up as well as Aerin preferring to stay on the outer platforms most of the time forcing me to use ranged attacks while dodging explosions.

Replaying LS 2 Episode - Character Bound

in Living World

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

I logged in on my level 80 character and the first thing I noticed was a green star shaking above my mini map on the right side of the screen. I clicked it and it asked if I wanted to open the mission journal and I did. I checked all of my other characters (none of which are level 80 yet) and they all have the new living story in their story journals though it says it will become available when they reach level 80. That part at least seems to be working. I haven’t played the new content yet, so can’t comment on replaying it for achievements.

Replaying LS 2 Episode - Character Bound

in Living World

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-story-journal/

To unlock an episode and have it added to your story Journal, you simply need to log in to the game during the two-week period that the release is live to be given permanent, free access to the storyline of that episode. Once you’ve unlocked it by simply logging in, you can replay that episode’s storyline on any character on your account as many times as you like from your story Journal forever. Past episodes will be available for purchase for 200 gems. (Don’t forget you can earn gold and purchase gems to unlock the episode for your account).

This means that you will have permanent access to the story for all current and future characters as long as you logged in during the time period the story is available. I’m sure the story in the gem shop functions the same way as in unlocking for your whole account once purchased. The story in the gem shop is for players who didn’t log in during the 2 week period a story was available to unlock it for free.

Also keep in mind the new living story stuff can be done only on level 80 characters, but you should be able to see it in your story journal on characters lower than 80. If you aren’t seeing it in your story journal on all of your characters regardless of level, then it’s most likely a bug that will be fixed asap.

Paying for past content?

in Living World

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

Looking over the LS season 2 blurb I spotted this “Past episodes will be available for purchase for 200 gems”

Does this mean if we want to reply any LS content we need to pay for it in gems? Is it an unlock a chapter forever fee for every account or is it character bound? If we pay for a chapter can we team with people who haven’t?

Personally, not sure how I feel about this move. To me it seems to step over the ‘morality line’ and move GW2 to a payment model I don’t really like..

Hmm

If you log in during the release window of an episode (e.g. two weeks) you unlock the episode for your account. You can replay it as many times as you want for free. If you miss the release window and you want to play an episode that you didn’t unlock, you can purchase it.

It’s a lot like watching television in that you can watch (and record) an episode for free when it airs. If you miss it, you can buy the episode off iTunes later. Does that make sense?

No it doesn’t make sense. You are talking about having to go to a completely different company in order to access a TV episode you missed when it aired. In GW2’s case, we wouldn’t be going anywhere else to purchase the living story content we missed.

It’s pretty common for cable and satellite boxes to have DVR capabilities so you can set it to record TV shows and watch them at your convenience if you’re not going to be able to watch it when it airs, or if you want to rewatch a favorite episode. You may pay an extra little bit on your monthly bill to be able to do that, but you aren’t charged (as far as I know) each time you use the feature.

Event bugged in Shark's Teeth Archipelago

Event “Protect Scholar Breandan while he examines the seabed near Broken Spit”.

I got to the spot where the Broken Spit point of interest is and there were a few waves of Risen enemies. After that no more enemies spawned and Scholar Breandan was just sitting there instead of going onto the next point. Because of this the nearby waypoint is staying contested.

In the screenshot the Risen were coming through the opening of the ruins you can see straight ahead. My only guess is Scholar Risen was too close to the coral or whatever that structure is you see him floating at and it might have messed up his pathing preventing him from continuing on.

Going up to him and talking to him does no good. He just carries on about studying the flora and how it got corrupted.

The good news I found is that this achievement isn’t actually required. It does qualify for the meta achievement, but for the meta you can complete any 14 achievements in the list. I’m starting to get tired of the issues with this event. Every time I go to enter the race event from Labrynthine Cliffs I wind up at the very start of the race with everybody else at the finish line with 1 minute or less to go which isn’t enough time to finish it.

Another thing I noticed today that seems to happen every time I actually do complete the race is after I reach the finish line and use the chest to get my festival tokens, I stand around waiting for the event to finish and reset so I can run another race. During this time I keep getting a game message that says “Unless you resume active play you will be kicked in 50 seconds.”. It seems to stop if I start moving and jumping around until the timer runs out. Sometimes I finish the race with 2 or 3 minutes left on the timer.

Well I managed to actually finish in second place and it counted for the achievement. However, the info on the achievement now says “Tier: 2 of 3 – 1/5 Sanctum Sprints completed”. I ran the race a few more times and didn’t finish in the top 3 on any of them and no more races counted for the achievement.

As others have pointed out the achievement only says you need to complete a race to get it for the festival meta achievement.

Sanctum Sprint has its own achievement in the Activities category for placing in the top 3 so many times.

It really isn’t fair to force us to have to place in the top 3 for the festival meta achievement.

Here is proof of how many times I’ve ran this race and what the achievement now shows, and Sanctum Sprint’s own achievement for placing in the top 3:

Four Winds Dive achiev bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

The wiki has a note about it http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Diving_Goggles#Notes

The Diving Goggles on the Zephyrite kite ship in the Labyrinthine Cliffs can be used for the longest dive jump in the game. This jump does not count toward the Dive Master achievement, but instead granted the achievement Best. Dive. Ever. during the Living Story chapter Bazaar of the Four Winds.

However, there is a bug with it. I have used the goggles to dive several times, landing safely in the water each time, and have not received the “Best. Dive. Ever.” achievement. It is frustrating.

Edit: I forgot to mention that after landing safely in the water I am still under the diving goggles bundle. Even when swimming to land and exiting the water I’m still under it and have to click the “leave transformation” button in the elite skill slot.

Edit 2: I finally realized that I still had a couple of those special powers, Assisted Leap and the lighting one, when interacting with the goggles. So ending that transformation before using the goggles did fix it so I am out of the goggles transformation as soon as I step out of the water after jumping but I still haven’t received the achievement, even after trying about 20 times now.
