It’s less about gold sinks and more about keeping your items safe. If your account got hacked, the thief could just unbind valuable items and transfer them out of your account.

And it’s highly unlikely customer support would transfer items from 1 account to another, for the same reason: a hacker with enough information about your account could trick CS into making the item transfer.

And there’s no way anybody would pay 8,000 gems to unbind a single item.

Can the Birthday Blaster go account bound?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

I don’t see why it can’t be made account bound. The buff is pretty decent, but unreliable in my experience. Often times the cakes refuse to give me the buff, and I’ve seen other players run over them without getting the buff either.

If you have a character old enough to have earned it, chances are you’re familiar enough with the game. It would make the game slightly more alt friendly when leveling up new characters. 1 thing always annoying for veterans is having to deal with the slow pace of leveling new characters when you’re already familiar with the game.

Yep. As I said before, sometimes while logged into the game I get a message with an error code saying the game can’t connect to the log in server for some reason.

I entered a fractal today with a party and got the message a moment later. None of us disconnected though. I noticed out of the corner of my eye my guild message was posted in the chat window at the exact moment the error message box popped up.

Then about a minute later it appeared as though someone was trying to join our party even though we were already full. The party window had a accept/decline box. I click on decline and the chat window said that someone else in my party had kicked that player.

We were able to completely the fractal without any issues or anybody ever getting disconnected.

Light armour pants not Devout for females?

That’s something I’m starting to notice too. Most of my female characters are medium/heavy, so it’s only after really getting in to Necro that I’m finding very few skins for the sensible soul reaper. What’s up with that?
What really sucked was the awesome looking vigil honor thing for males turning into the terrible tube tob for females.

Here is my reaper:
Furocious Cat Ears
Diviner Mantle (will be replaced with Nightfury someday if I can ever finish it)
Incarnate Vest
Chaos Gloves
Acolyte Pants
Triumphant Footgear

Bloodstone Scepter, Dagger, and Greatsword

And Black Feather Wings for the back.

Used my Mistlock Sanctuary Passkey to go to that map then went AFK during the loading screen. Was only gone for a couple minutes to find I was DC’ed when I came back. No idea if I was DC’ed during loading of the map or after I spawned into it.

This is getting old. And it just seems really weird it usually happens when I go AFK for a few minutes, though sometimes it does happen while I’m playing.

It’s been happening to me since LW3 E6 I believe.

But not instanced content. Usually it happens when I’m just standing around in the Mistlock Sanctuary or a town. Though, yesterday I went to a waypoint in Mount Maelstrom for the daily hidden garden JP and went AFK for a couple minutes to find I was on the character select screen when I got back.

So yeah. The servers seem to still have some issues lately. (how many “server crash” fixes have been put out in the last couple or so weeks? seriously LOL)

Edit: Just remembered something. Usually at the character select screen I’ll log back in quickly when I get disconnected. Sometimes after I log in I’ll have an error box saying something about not being able to connect to the log in server. I can close the box and continue playing just fine though.

Oh, and, OP’s elementalist wouldn’t have “black face” if he/she just used 1 of the new human faces that were recently added to the game. Although I haven’t tried, it seems the faces might not be exclusive to makeover kits and may be choosable during character creation.

The recent hairstyles and faces for humans that came with LW3 E6 launch look more African-American than any previous faces and hairstyles. It’s nice they finally added more cultural variety to the game.

is the 4000 gems worth it?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

That depends entirely on you. But, the Ultimate edition is worth $93.75 based on the Gem cost of items and the dollar cost of Gems. The price difference between the Deluxe and Ultimate editions is literally the cost of 4000 Gems. I used the Gems to buy the 3500 Gem starter box, then bought another $50 worth of Gems. I don’t even feel bad about it.

Kind of this, although my perspective is a bit different.

Basic Edition is $30.
Deluxe Edition is $55.
Ultimate is $80.
4000 Gems costs $50.

Basic + Gems = $80, which is the price of the ultimate edition. Therefore, the discount is getting the extras offered for free. The extras are the Character Slot; Identity Repair Kit; Elon Pass and Spearmarshal’s Presence. Those items have a cost associated with them. One could say that the discount consists of what it would take in gold or $ to get the Deluxe upgrade. Or, one could say that value of the discount is whatever value one sees in those 4 extras.

You’re a bit off there. The only difference between the deluxe and ultimate edition is the ultimate comes with 4,000 gems. Essentially, you’re paying an extra $25 for 4k gems when normally they would cost $50, so you get the gems at half price.

If I remember right, there was no physical copy of the HoT expansion. You could pre-purchase it at various locations like Gamestop, but what you would actually get is just a “box” with a card that has the serial key in it but no game disc. I haven’t heard anything yet as to whether or not there will be a physical copy of Path of Fire.

4,000 gems at half price is a good deal and worth it. If you don’t want the gems, you’d be better off getting the deluxe version and you would only be missing out on the gems since that’s the only extra thing ultimate has compared to deluxe.

Do keep in mind: if you buy the basic or deluxe edition, you won’t be able to ever upgrade to ultimate. You can still buy the ultimate edition but you would need to create a completely new account to use the serial key. If you buy the basic edition you can upgrade to deluxe in the gem shop by paying gems.

The pre-purchase has exclusive items that will only be available with pre-purchase until PoF launches. After that 1 or more of these items may no longer be available when purchasing PoF. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_2:_Path_of_Fire#Pre-purchasing

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/prepurchase-guild-wars-2-path-of-fire/

The deluxe edition upgrade for gems should always be available after the expansion launches (for people who purchase the basic edition). No idea about the ultimate edition.

Can't use desired name

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Charrbeque.8729

I can sort of get that, makes sence but this “G” is in the middle of the name it self. Oh well, at least we all know now.

It doesn’t matter where the letter is located in the word. It’s a block-all automated system.

It needs to block all words that meet the criteria Gaile laid out, otherwise real GM’s would have to manually block every single character name that is impersonating a GM. They don’t normally take manual action against a player’s account unless they’re reported, so by the time a GM was notified someone was impersonating a GM, it could be too late as they will have most likely already scammed 1 or more players before they got busted.

The downside is innocent words (like the OP’s) wind up being blocked from character names, but it’s much safer to prevent GM impersonation and scamming from ever happening.

As always, feel free to get creative and try other spellings for the name you’re going for. Just be sure to not make any names that would get you into trouble.

Re-purchase really?

Charrbeque.8729

Dear GW2 staff,

I am really disappointed of your managing and handling this game. It is really great developed by NCSOFT as everyone knows and agree with me. However, your managing the game and it’s content, expansions and updates is terrible awful and all against the “best practices”.

I have the full Game “Hearth of thorns” bought and I just got back online in game to continue with my journey to level up, to level the masteries etc etc. I was even hyped around the new expansion until I saw the message “Please, re-purchase the game if you want to continue your progress…” etc etc…. Really? Is that what you do for that game? Buy the game and asking the players for re-purchase it? Really? That is all against the policy of any country and can be seen as conspiracy. You have never ever stated while buying the product that is for a limited time and after the new expansion, that one will be no longer available and players will be forced to buy it if they want to continue with the progress. Otherwise, they will be taken into a free-to-play account once again and stuck to a certain point of the progress….

Best wishes,
Valentin “Zen” Valev

If you started out as free-to-play and purchased Heart of Thorns, they would never ever downgrade your account and force you to re-purchase the game, unless there was an issue with the original purchase of the serial key.

If you happened to buy the serial key from a website that wasn’t authorized to sell serial keys for GW2, chances are the seller you got the key from probably purchased it with a stolen credit card. The credit card holder found out, issued a charge-back which invalidated the serial key, and ultimately you end up having the serial key (and all included content) removed from your account.

If that is the case, customer support won’t even be able to help you. They might be able to give you a simple explanation as to why HoT was removed from your account. You would need to contact the website you purchased HoT from and demand a refund, because ArenaNet never gets any money from such websites so they have nothing to refund to you.

Did you happen to purchase HoT from a website called G2A?

Unidentified gear - Please No, No, No, Nooooo

At current prices:
(Salvaged)10g,1s,48c profit worth in mats
vs
(ID+Salvage)4g,20s,06c profit worth in mats and sigils + 94 Eyes of Kormir

I don’t remember if Eyes of Kormir are account bound or not, but for the latter to surpass the former, the Eyes need to have a value of 6.19s each.
Which it probably WILL if it’s not account bound. All things considered though, Path of Fire is going to affect the value of materials directly so my current numbers can be completely out of relevance once the game comes out.

Eyes of Kormir and Sliver of Twitching Forgemetal (the other craft mat that dropped) are both open to trade and not account bound. Hopefully, they’ll be worth trading.

One thing I’m thinking is that most people probably use Copper-Fed rather than Silver so the resulting profit might be different. Another thing is that out of 85 salvages, the player managed to obtain nearly 100. They’re probably not going to be difficult to obtain so I wouldn’t bank on it being too valuable.

There was no cost involved. Period.

Except that it literally costs 1.68s to identify the item.

You mean 1.68s at the NPC to trade it in for a random item? I admit, I must have missed that. Still, I don’t think it’s a big deal since it would be more worthwhile (to me) to salvage it for crafting materials. Besides, I get plenty or random gear as loot drops.

Hmm…..it’s possible there may be 1 or more exclusive items that you can only get from trading the unidentified gear item to the NPC. Amnoon Oasis does have a “casino” building.

I think I understand now: this gambling crap is bad enough with lockboxes, and that skritt you trade ectos in to. We don’t need more of it added to the game. The problem is there are too many gamers that get suckered into these things. I admit I like to open a few black lion chests here and there, but I’m not going to allow myself to become homeless so I can feed a gambling addiction in a video game.

I’ve noticed in some jumping puzzles around Central Tyria, there is a debuff icon for “Mounts Disabled”. I’m assuming this means you plan to make mount useable outside of the new PoF maps on day 1 of launch, considering you made preparations in various areas to prevent mount use.

If that’s the case, you seemed to have learned with HoT that we’re gonna want new travel stuff everywhere right away (because gliding wasn’t made useable outside the HoT maps until a little while after HoT launched).

The story seemed pretty good so far. It was a little difficult fighting that boss. But that was with a demo character for a profession I haven’t actually created a decent build for yet. So, I should be just fine with other characters I’m happy with that I’ve worked hard on, like my ranger or necromancer.

Participation now always takes 15 minutes to decay no matter how much participation you have earned. This means that decaying at an earlier tier is no longer faster than decaying at a later tier.

The participation bar has been changed to always display how much time is left until it will start to decay. Previously, only the grace time of 90 seconds was shown. Now it will always show the grace time. The bar will be green if your grace time is above 90 seconds, yellow if your grace time is 90 seconds or less, and red if you are decaying.

In my home instance I used the new water pistol on Lady Wisteria Whiskignton and she freaked the kitten out!

She attacked me and my pet. Kept hitting me with some sort of constant stun effect and the counter magic skill popped up, which broke the stun when I used it.

I noticed when she attacked, she had a breakbar. I also noticed the water pistol was reducing the breakbar. I wasn’t able to damage the cat, so I kept using the water pistol on her.

Once her breakbar was gone, she stood still for a few seconds and a ginormous orange circle expanded out from here. And then there was a gigantic ’splosion and I died.

So, if you shoot the bloodstone kitty with the squirt gun, you’re going to have a bad time.

But yeah. The south east corner of the map, where the Crystal Desert has always been labeled, seems to have been expanded a bit. Of course, it’s already been announced that the PoF expansion is taking us to the Crystal Desert.

But it isn’t really so much as they expanded the map. It’s more like we can scroll the map further south in that area. The map was probably always there, just hidden due to us not being able to move the map down that far.

Same here. I noticed there was a new point of interest added to the game. It’s in Lion’s Arch, near the Order Of Whispers Headquarters poi.

I was on my ranger, who already had 100% map complete (for Central Tyria at least), and had 4 shaky chests pop up on the right of my screen. The shaky chests looked like the map complete chest.

I now have 4 chests in my inventory all with a weird item name. I noticed the chest icons have the ranger symbol on them, as if they’re ranger specific rewards. But I can’t open any of them because I just get a message pop up that the content is disabled and to try again later.

I’m guessing it’s like that ‘????’ item some players got during the Heart of Thorns beta weekend event. That item never became anything and was most likely just a placeholder for the beta test weekends. So I’m not expecting these 4 treasure chest to ever amount to anything.

Missing bag slot with pre-order

Just realized: the OP said he/she purchased the CoF ultimate edition and a bag slot “from the website at the same time”.

Missing bag slot with pre-order

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

It should be noted that it does not add a bag slot to your account. It should have sent you an item that will add a bag slot to a character upon being consumed.

OP explained that they made an additional purchase (one of the options that pops up after you’ve chosen the price point for the game).

Yeah. Ultimate edition doesn’t include a bag slot (I purchased ultimate, so I know for sure). It does give you a shared inventory slot with the level 80 booster in the slot. The booster can’t be removed and keeps the slot locked until you decide to use the booster, in which case the shared slot becomes available to use freely.

In my experience purchasing bag slots from the gem shop: you get mail immediately upon purchasing it. The mail contains an item you consume on a character of your choice. That is to say, you purchased it directly from the gem shop. If you purchase via the padlock icon in the inventory window, you would have the bag slot unlocked for that character automatically upon accepting the purchase. You would still get mail from the black lion trading company but no item attached to it.

If you purchased a bag slot from the gem shop (not the inventory window) and never received the item, then the best you can do is contact customer support. I’ve never seen a waiting period for gem shop purchases other than the 4k gems from the PoF ultimate edition pre-purchase (which I got 3 days after pre-purchasing).

For PoF ultimate edition, I got everything right away after purchasing, except for the gems.

Inb4 they make us buy all new mounts

Like they did with gliders instead of actually being able to earn them in game!

What are you on and why aren’t you sharing it?

They never forced us to buy anything. You don’t need new glider skins to use gliding anywhere in the game. Sure the basic glider skin (you get for free) is ugly, but it at least serves its purpose.

Assuming the new maps require mounts to traverse, they’ll probably do the same thing they did with gliding: allow us to unlock basic skins by playing the personal story, with it all being an account unlock.

If you don’t want to spend money on cosmetic stuff then don’t.

Although I admit it would have been nice if they added a couple glider skins we could unlock for free (either from a seasonal event or achievement that we could work toward earning) that didn’t require us to purchase something from the gem store first (looking at you ugly wool glider).

Of course, they’ll probably add new mount skins to black lion chests eventually (like they did with certain glider skins) that are account bound and can’t be traded.

PoF - Purchase Clarification

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

Two years ago they made a promise: every new expansion would contain previous expansions for free. Now people have to buy them in bundle.

Two years ago they also made a second promise: with every expansion release, all non-upgraded accounts would get previous expansions for free. Now old accounts of core game will no longer get HoT.

Seriously ArenaNet?! You started breaking promises now?

They promised that for each new expansion, you could get the previous expansions for a single price point. They are remaining true to this in providing bundles.

I don’t recall them saying that you would get previous expansions for free anywhere. Care to link a source?

Ahhhh! Technically yes. When you buy HoT bundled with the new expansion you are paying “one single purchase price”. Unfortunately, they didn’t explain it back then as to how exactly that would work in the future. Due to the language being vague, some people assumed it meant that when a new expansion comes out, any previous expansions would be included for free.

So they didn’t lie, but they could have clarified things better.

P.S. Since I saw a comment about it, I’ll let everyone know. You can not buy the expansion for gems. You have to pay for it with real money.

On the home page of the gem store there is a large ad banner you can click on and it takes you to a page to upgrade your account by purchasing the new expansion. It’s $29.99 for standard, $54.99 for deluxe, and $79.99 for the ultimate edition. Cheaper than HoT. It’s easier to buy the expansion through the gem shop than dealing with their messed up shop page on guildwars2.com.

However, I’m assuming it will be like HoT where if you buy the standard edition, you can upgrade to the deluxe edition for gems. But there won’t be any way to upgrade to ultimate if you bought the standard or deluxe editions. Just like with HoT, the only difference between the deluxe and ultimate edition is that the ultimate edition includes 4,000 gems at a discount (ultimate is $25 more than deluxe and 4k gems is $50 dollars normally, so you get the gems at half price).

So if you want to upgrade your account to ultimate you’ll have to go straight for that.

Must you use a new jump mechanic every map?

in Living World

I wish they would have just reused the oakheart’s essence. Killing a ley-line creature to pick up its organ can give you up to 5 “weapon” skills, but you only get a single use of any skill before you lose it. Meaning, if you are using the skill to jump and miss your landing, you have to find another creature to get the ability again. And for really tricky jumps, it can take a lot of dead monsters before you finally make it.

This new “jump” mechanic from the ley-line creatures in the new map is basically just a copy-paste of the wind aspect found in the Sanctum Sprint activity and all over Dry Top, except you only get 1 use instead of 10 uses with a time limit.

It’s super annoying to use in Siren’s Landing. (and people hated having to use it in Dry Top)

I have 46/50 HoM points from GW1 and wouldn’t find less value in my Firey Dragon Sword. In fact, I wouldn’t mind the HoM rewards to be available to everyone in some form, like gem shop, or guaranteed wardrobe unlock from black lion chests, or maybe even in game rewards that take effort to get.

Seriously. I’ve had the stuff for years. No need to keep things exclusive forever. Not wanting anyone else to have it makes me feel selfish. And I don’t care about being a special snowflake with exclusive skins.

Same here. I got the patch and did a repair afterwards, as I usually do, then closed the game and relaunched it (without the -repair) and got a message saying something was wrong and asking me if I wanted to run a repair. Um, OK.

CD Key Offers, Thought I'd Share!

cd-keys.com are not a scam website they actually sell keys for consoles as well as pc. They have never once sold me a dud key and all of the keys I’ve ever purchased have been legit. I’ve not bought for this game specifically mostly for my console but they are definitely not a scam.

I’m happy you have had positive experiences. From what someone wrote, the site is akin to an eBay or Amazon, with individuals making sales. If that’s true, then there are a lot of variables on how a transaction concludes. Having been involved in trying to resolve issues, or communicate about risks in the past, I take a conservative approach to any seller that is not on the authorized list.

Legally, it’s expected that a communications liason aren’t allowed to endorse companies not listed on the official website, due to possible legal ramifications.

However, luckily I’ve taken the risk and tested them 6x times and I can say with full confidence the keys they sell are legitimate. I have yet to receive a fake/non-working key to this day.

4x 2000 Gem Keys – Successful
2x Heart of Thorns Expansions – Successful

You may not have spent much time in the Account Support sub-forum, where there have been multiple threads asking why their CD Keys only worked for a few days. Showing you successfully unlocked the account may not mean much, when it is terminated later because it was found to be a fraudulent key.

Best of luck.

And where exactly are these threads that are making these claims? did they cite the website they’ve used? Please cite sources. I’ve attempted to search your claim on google. Zero hits.

Here is a thread from a few days ago, on the first page of the account section of the forums: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Account-suspended-43/first#post6633527

The player bought their key from G2A. As I pointed out in that thread, ArenaNet has that website on a blacklist.

Just because they sell keys for a wide variety of games across multiple platforms doesn’t mean they’re “legit” or trustworthy.

G2A, Kinguin, and MMOGA all offer similar variety for game keys across multiple platforms (among other stuff). But they’re all on ArenaNet’s blacklist, as can be seen by their Tybalt Leftpaw Reddit bot: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/4vd9on/i_hope_this_will_keep_the_people_away_from_g2a/d5xej23/

The thing is, not all fraudulent keys are caught right away. Sometimes it can take a while, and sometimes they’re never caught.

From what I can tell, CDKyes is “legit” in the sense they don’t sell fraudulent keys and do give what people pay for. But, they are a “grey market”. They get legit keys to resell, but are not authorized resellers for some or all of the games and other goods they sell.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GameDealsMeta/comments/61z9xe/is_cdkeyscom_legit/ A mod here says that (CDKeys) is not allowed in the /r/gamedeals subreddit because they are a grey market. Other comments here say it’s a grey market, with at least 1 mentioning they’re not an authorized reseller.

How does CDKeys get their keys they sell? Well https://www.reddit.com/r/GameDealsMeta/comments/61z9xe/is_cdkeyscom_legit/dfld4yl/

They buy retail region lock free games (from russia for example) where the game is much cheaper and then sell the cd keys online. So, no, they are not an official games vendor but i haven’t heard of people getting ripped off by them.

A couple years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/30zq02/is_cdkeyscom_legit/cpxbzbw/ Same thing:

CD key sites like that tend to be considered a legal “grey area”. They are not authorized resellers. The keys could be taken from products purchased on the black market, there’s no way of knowing. That said, the codes will most likely work fine. There’s a good chance the money you pay is not supporting the developer though. I would recommend waiting for the games you want to go on sale and buying them from authorized sites.

The bottom line is, if they aren’t on ArenaNet’s list of authorized retailers (and Gaile Gray already said they aren’t), you would be taking a chance when purchasing from them.

My account was just suspended. I got the expansion through the Guild Wars 2 website, and bought the base game years ago. There is no reason as to why my account should be suspended. I guess I just have to wait for support to contact me. Since coming back to the game a few days ago I’ve had to petition support twice. I have to jump through hoops to play and its becoming extremely aggravating as I really do enjoy the game.

Don’t create multiple support tickets for the same problem. It actually makes support take longer to get the help you’re seeking. Give them 72 hours (3 days) to respond. There use to be a stickied thread on the forums to post ticket numbers if you haven’t received a response from support in 3 days so a dev can take a look at it, but the thread seems to have been unstickied some time ago and got lost. You could try posting on Reddit.

G2A is your problem. ArenaNet has it on a blacklist of unauthorized sellers. Buying a key from that site usually results in your account being suspended or banned.

An official post from a while back: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/4vd9on/i_hope_this_will_keep_the_people_away_from_g2a/d5xej23/

The Lionguard have G2A, Kinguin and MMOGA on the blacklist, so you can get banned from Lion’s Arch if you happen to use them. Just stick with the approved merchants so I don’t have to come bail you out, recruit.

I dont get that…………..15 characters?

Posts need to have at least 15 characters (letters, numbers, punctuation, etc.). When players give short, one-worded posts, they add ‘/15chars’ or /15characters’ to add in the rest of the characters needed for the comment to be posted.

How to get WVW armor?

Hmm….maybe the wiki just needs updating then.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/6fo3f1/so_if_you_wanna_get_ascended_from_wvw/dijnaw7/
This person says that the (grandmaster) marks aren’t needed to purchase T3 armor, and that you can’t buy T1 from the vendor (which the wiki has listed).

Probably best to wait a little bit for the wiki to eventually get updated. And maybe Dulfy will put out a step buy step guide on how to get the armor. Basically what you need to do to acquire each tier.

I’m confused.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/updates-to-world-vs-world-skirmishing-and-rewards/

Tier 3 Armor

In addition to Tier 2 armor, you’ll be able to earn Tier 3 Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s armor in this release. Tier 3 armor is the ultimate prestigious WvW armor, and it will require you to have earned both Tier 1 and Tier 2 to acquire. Each piece requires a very high WvW rank to purchase. However, unlike Tier 2, this ascended armor will not require any crafting to earn.

But looking at the skirmish vendor on the wiki https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Skirmish_Supervisor#Mistforged_Triumphant_Ascended_Armor it shows Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s (armor piece) requiring grandmaster marks to purchase. Grandmaster marks can only be obtained by crafting and are account bound when you get them.

Is the wiki wrong? Or is the armor in the list here a different type than what was mentioned in the dev blog? The dev blog clearly said “will not require ANY crafting to earn”.

Wiki could be wrong as they may have just copy and pasted.

All ascended armour and weapons use these tokens. These changes were rolled out couple of months ago in an effort to make the costs for acquiring them similar to crafting ascended as a whole.

Read the article linked.

That’s what I was pointing out. The word “earn” could mean something different. But the blog didn’t mention anything about needing grandmaster marks to purchase anything. And it barely made a passing mention that tier 2 armor needed to be crafted.

This whole thing is messed up. When going for T3 armor, you’re actually purchasing the skins.

Here is the problem: even with the time gating to purchase ascended armor from the fractal vendor, it would still be wayyyyy faster than getting T3 ascended armor in WvW. And if you craft regular ascended armor yourself, without buying it from a vendor, it would be a bit quicker with crafting’s time gating.

Some players weren’t happy about the time gating, costs, and grandmaster marks added, to purchase ascended gear from fractal vendors. It was costly before the grandmaster marks, but was a little quicker to be able to purchase it.

They really went overboard on this one if it really does require WvW rank 2,000 to unlock the ability to purchase ascended gear from a vendor. That will take a really long time, especially for new players. (my WvW rank is over 300) Heck, the fractal vendor doesn’t require your personal fractal level to be super high, or even at any level, to purchase ascended gear. You could just stick with tier 1 fractals to slowly get the research pages needed to buy ascended gear (along with having to craft those stupid grandmaster marks).

Do the devs really hate WvW that much? In my opinion, if you don’t care about the WvW armor skins and only want ascended gear, you’re better off getting it somewhere else, like the fractal vendor.

To earn I guess it refers to unlock since the 3 grandmaster thingy is comparable to FOTM standard.

Edit: Now that you mentioned it, the time taken to get a stack of memory battle and claim tickets is it equivalent to the time taken to do fotm daily rec for the same piece of armor?

Well that’s certainly misleading. I’m even confused by what you just said. What I assumed was you needed to unlock T1 armor, then crafting is involved for T2, then you have T3 unlocked for purchase, and that T3 wouldn’t require any crafting in any way, shape, or form, to purchase.

They didn’t spell out the process very well on how to obtain it all.

Any chance the beam of light could come from my character’s hands. It looks like it was meant to come from the hands with the way the arms are stretched out in front and kinda got that kamahameha thing going on. Looking closely at the full animation the beam of light seems to come from the chest/stomach, but with the way my character is postitioned in the air…….

Should I see a doctor?

Edit: I think this is what they were going for. The character’s animation in the game is kinda similar to Vegeta shooting an energy blast from his hands. http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_techniques_used_by_Vegeta?file=Penguins.jpg

Except the energy comes from my norn necromancer’s chest instead.
