wat weapons do you want next for classes

Ranger: hammer

Revenant: greatsword; which was highly requested even before the live beta of HoT. I’m still wondering why it never happened. It makes more sense for a heavy armor class to have a greatsword than a lightweight like a mesmer. Elite spec = shield. Seriously, who even uses a shield on any profession? I almost never see any players with a shield, and that goes for all professions that can use it.

Necromancers have a way of turning your boons (such as stability) into conditions (such as fear).

This is probably what the necromancer used on you http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Corrupt_Boon

Notes: Stability is converted into Fear.

As a necro, you should know about these things. I’ve never used a necro before and even I have a general idea of what they’re capable of (and I’ve never PvPed).

Getting the mini tiger spirit is completely separate from the legendary shortbow. So feasibly they could add something similar to get a mini raven spirit. In fact, add one for a mini bear and mini wolf spirit as well. Currently I’m working on getting the tiger spirit mini and it’s kind of a fun scavenger hunt.

But a miniature raven spirit would have made sense.

I prefer the confirmation because sometimes I almost use the wrong salvage o matic.

Also, the bag options lets you hide item rarity if you don’t want to see it. Someone using that won’t know what is rare or exotic and end up salvaging things they don’t want to if there was no confirmation.

Royal Ascalonion Longbow: the blue aura that appears during night time seems to be missing now.

Screenshots: while in the Royal Terrace at night time you can see that my Royal Ascalonian Greatsword has the blue aura effect but the longbow is missing it now.

Edit: The blue aura shows up in the hero panel as well as the equipment preview, just not on the bow in my character’s hands.

Also of note, the Royal Ascalonian Greatsword doesn’t show the aura in the equipment preview, hero panel, or while stowed on my character’s back.

Edit: I used the Asura gate in the Royal Terrace to go to Lion’s Arch, which happened to be night, and the aura shows up fine now. Then later after a fractal, it seemed to not work in LA while the aura was showing up on the greatsword. It seems rather inconsistent, where it doesn’t work some of the time. Changing maps seems to fix it when the blue aura isn’t showing (that is if I wind up going to another map that is also in night time).

Versatile mighty infusion

Time gated too if you’re gathering the flowers yourself.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Blooming_Passiflora#Notes 1-2 Passion Flowers per node; can only be gathered from 3 times a day per account.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Passiflora 0-1 Passion Flower per day; can only mine 15 per day per account.

So at most you can get around 21 per day. So that’s about 5 days, give or take, per infusion you want to craft. About 30 days to make enough infusions for just your armor, another 25 or so for your trinkets, and up to another 20 days for 4 weapons if you go with 2 per set. So, it takes about as long, or longer, to craft these types of infusions as it does to craft ascended equipment.

And then there is the 50 mystic coins per infusion. Mystic coins have been a hot topic lately, mainly because people are running out of them due to legendary crafting and other things, and you have very limited resources to get mystic coins. (I believe ArenaNet is looking into it and going to come up with something, but don’t quote me on that.)

If you want to help threads to remain constructive: ignore posts that go off topic. Respond to the issues raised in the OP, if you have something new to offer.

infinite transmutation charge 10/10 would buy

It would never be a gemstore item. It would wind up in black lion chests as a super rare drop.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Black_Lion_Chest#Super_rare_drops
Much like the permanent bank access contract, permanent hair stylist contract, recently added endless repair contract, etc. And it would be so rare you’d find it on the trading post for hundreds, or thousands of gold.

Personally I wish they’d just do away with transmutation charges all together and make transmuting our armor completely free. But I feel they will eventually just come out with a permanent transmutation charge and add it to black lion chests. Judging by all the other endless convenience items in black lion chests, it seems inevitable.

The tooltip in your screenshot above your utility skills says to defeat Mai Trin in 5 minutes but shows you have over 17 minutes remaining.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mai_Trin_Timed_Mote

It seems you have 25 minutes to defeat her, so the tooltip saying you have to defeat her in 5 minutes is inaccurate. This could be the reason why the achievement isn’t registering. In other words, it’s suppose to be 25 minutes but you actually have 5 minutes. With your screenshot showing you have 17 minutes left for the achievement, it took you nearly 8 minutes to defeat her. Plenty of time if the achievement worked correctly, but too long for how it’s actually working. Somebody forgot the 2.

Ascalonian Longbow: stuck animations

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

On my ranger I’m using the Royal Ascalonian Longbow skin.

What happens: when using skill #2, Rapid Fire, the bow will be completely stuck in the animation. The string will show as being rapidly pulled and released non-stop, even with the bow stored on my character’s back. Same happens with skill #5.

After using skill #4, Point Blank Shot, the bowstring will stay in the pulled out position, even when stowed on my character’s back.

Weapon swapping to my greatsword and back doesn’t fix it. The fix seems to be either to change maps or use skill #1.

At first I thought it was only at night when the blue aura special effect appears on the bow, but it seems to happen any time of day.

You can see in the screenshot that after using skill 4 and stowing the weapon on my back, the string is stuck in the drawn out position. The problems occur whether I’m holding the bow or have it stowed on my back.

Authentication don't work

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

It’s working. Recently my ISP changed my IP address, then the other day our router crapped out and we had to buy a new one, which again changed our IP address.

I have the Winauth desktop authenticator and my uncle has SMS for his cell phone. In both cases when our IP changed we both had to input an authenticator code to log in the first time. My uncle had his cell phone next to him and got the SMS immediately upon trying to log in.

You will only be asked for an authenticator code if your IP address changes or you try to log in from a different IP that isn’t saved to your account. If your IP stays the same you’ll never need to use your authenticator and won’t receive an SMS on your cell phone.

If you are not able to log into the game and have an authenticator set up but aren’t receiving the SMS, you’ll need to contact customer support.

Another possibility: after logging into the forums click on ‘My Account’ then click on ‘Security’ at the top. Then click the ‘Edit’ button for ‘2-step authentication’. You should be able to see what phone number you used, so make sure you input the correct phone number and other info.

Edit: Also make sure your cell phone is setup to receive text messages.

There isn’t really such a thing as “OP elite specs” in dungeons.
You barely get more dps than before the icebow nerf from the classes themself, the thing that’s causing the powercreep are mostly breakbars being ridiculously unbalanced.
Before HoT you had to coordinate deepfreezes, now everybody just spams CC and you get a 50%(????) dps bonus

All this! the breakbar is horribly unbalanced for pre hot content except for high level content.

Naw. Just have to do it right. The quarterly patch buffed ranger shortbow a bit. Skill 5 now causes 2 seconds of daze/stun instead of 1 second. If I use it right after my Juvenile Fire Wyvern uses its Wing Buffet skill (it’s not the F2), I can take a good chunk out of a breakbar on a lot of enemies by myself in dungeons. I found this out yesterday when I did story mode on several dungeons. I don’t have the Druid elite spec unlocked and it’s not something I’d want to use anyway, since healing/support isn’t my style. Combine that with whatever my party members were using, and breakbars weren’t an issue.

Need 'Consume All' option for booze

For the winterday drinks they did add a consume stack function, I’m not against that just the idea of an all drinks in your inventory function.

Just a consume all right-click option for other alcohol for using a single stack. I’m not saying we should be able to use multiple stacks at a time. Just what they did with the wintersday drinks.

Need 'Consume All' option for booze

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

and why not give a consume all to bags too? they need to draw a borderline somewhere… they decided to just do it with essences, which is fine imo, have you ever salvaged hundreds of ectos

That’s stupid and I’m getting tired of people complaining about not being able to open a whole stack of bags at once. People do actually suggest it on the forums on occasion. But that’s not what I’m asking.

Consuming a stack of drinks removes the item from your inventory. Opening a stack of bags adds items to your inventory, and chances are even with max bag slots and a completely empty inventory, you might not have room for all of it.

The eggnog and other drinks from wintersday gifts as well as transmutation charges have a consume all option because it removes the items from your inventory. Since they have some drinks with the option I don’t see why all drinks can’t. Booze is booze, no matter what type of booze it is.

What I’m asking for is to make it a standard since it’s already been done for certain types of drinks. There aren’t any bags or other container types of items that have a consume all option and I’m not asking for such. What you’re doing is trying to compare apples to oranges. Drinks and bags are not the same thing.

A Cup of Spiced Cider has the same exact functionality as a Stein of Ale. You drink them, your screen gets wobbly, and it counts towards an achievement. Bags are not drinks.

Cup of Spiced Cider, Mug of Eggnog, and Glass of Buttered Spirits all have a consume all option. These specific drinks do count for the Thirst Slayer achievement but cost several silver at least in the trading post. A Stein of Ale costs 8 copper each from various merchants in the game and gives 4 points each toward the achievement, but have no consume all option, making it rather monotonous and hard on the hand.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Alcohol#Thirst_Slayer
The most cost effective way is the Stein of Ale that gives 4 points each. It works out to 2 copper per point. But it means you need tons of them for the achievement.

The most point efficient way would be something like Flask of Recovered Brew. It gives 16 points. Although you use 4 times as less than Stein of Ale, it’s still a ton of clicking.

The easiest way that doesn’t require tons of clicking or give you hand cramps would be the 3 wintersday drinks that have the consume all option. But that’s the most expensive route. The cheapest of the 3 in the trading post is just over 7 silver, and that’s 7+ silver per point for Thirst Slayer achievement compared to 2-8 copper each for stuff you can buy from merchants (or millions and millions of Karma if you want to go that route).

I think the point of it being an achievement is precisely because it’s so tedious. Not much of an achievement if you could just right-click a few times!

From the sounds of things, some players had a bunch of Halloween weapon skins but were only selling them 1 at a time on the trading post to keep the prices high.

Then players found they could get certain skins from the mystic forge, and this lowered the value of the Halloween weapon skins as more players tossed items into the MF. The players hoarding their skins dumped them all in the TP to get as much gold as they can before they became worthless.

As stated by a dev, the skins in the mystic forge wasn’t suppose to happen yet. But it’s already had an impact on the game.

As for the currency exchange: the minimum you can sell gems for is 1 gold for how ever many is the current rate. So if the current rate is 3 gems for 1 gold and you have 5 to sell, you’ll end up with 2 you can’t get rid of.

Here’s the thing: some players don’t realize that when selling gems in the currency exchange you pay a fee, just like when selling items in the trading post. I don’t know how much the fee is but I’m sure it’s a fixed percentage. The problem with that is the fee is completely hidden, so you never know how much it is.

That’s why there’s a discrepancy. You pay more to buy gems then you get for selling gems. Not an accurate figure, just an example: buy 5 gems for 10 gold, or sell 5 gems for 9 gold, a 1 gold difference.

It would be nice if you could actually sell a single gem in the currency exchange if that’s all you have left to sell. There was 1 time I sold some gems and wound up with a few I couldn’t get rid of. Not enough gems to buy something in the gem shop, and about 1-3 gems too little to sell them off. It would also be nice to have the hidden fee actually listed so players know how much gold they’re losing when selling gems.

Why ‘Bloodbound’ weapons? Oversight?

The reason why I ask is because Bloodbound weapons share skins with various named exotics that have been available throughout the game. So their inclusion seems rather pointless.

For example:
Bloodbound Greatsword uses the Ebonblade skin http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bloodbound_Greatsword
The Ebonblade greatsword goes for less than 5 gold in the trading post http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ebonblade

Bloodbound Axe uses the Faithful skin http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bloodbound_Axe
Faithful goes for less than 3 gold in the trading post http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Faithful

Bloodbound Shortbow uses the Éibhear Finn skin http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bloodbound_Short_Bow
Éibhear Finn goes for less than 2 gold in the trading post http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/%C3%89ibhear_Finn

The wiki has upgrade slots listed but no stats. I’m assuming Bloodbound weapons have selectable stats. But, they are rare quality. You’re better off using an exotic with the stats you want and just pay a few gold for the appropriate named exotic to unlock the skin if the skin is all you’re after. Otherwise you could end up paying a lot more gold to buy rares to throw into the mystic forge in hopes of getting a rare quality Bloodbound weapon.

It does seem funky. I checked Ascolonian Catacombs for dungeons just now. Saw an advertisement for ‘Story all welcome’ but it didn’t show any players in the party. I clicked the join button and nothing happened. I clicked the refresh button and the advertisement was still there. I closed the LFG window and opened it again and the advertisement was gone. It seems the LFG tool isn’t properly updating or something.

Edit: Hmm…..I saw another party advertise. After the group was full the message was still there showing no players in the party. Again, clicking the refresh button didn’t remove the message. I clicked on another dungeon in LFG then clicked back and the message was gone. I got a screenshot of this one. So yeah. It’s not removing party messages from LFG while you have the window open to that specific thing. Closing the window or clicking on another thing seems to clear it.

The other day I was going to advertise in LFG for a dungeon but changed my mind. What happened was when I clicked the advertise button, the advertise message box was already filled in with the same message as someone else who was advertising for that dungeon. The message box should be blank when you go to advertise in LFG. That’s why I decided against it. I was afraid that if I cleared the message and put my own in it would end up advertising me as something other than what I wanted.

At this time I never actually advertised myself in LFG to find a group for anything, so there was no reason why it should already have a message in the box.

Edit: It doesn’t seem to be doing it now. The ‘Advertise your group’ window has no message automatically added.

Ahh…..it might have done that before because I had joined a group advertising in LFG. Afterwards I was going to advertise myself. It might have put in the message that my previous group leader had advertised at.

Because of this http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Alcohol#Thirst_Slayer

I worked on it a bit a few months ago but gave up on it because my finger got sore from all the clicking; having to buy 1 drink at a time then having to double click to consume each and every drink.

Well the April 19 patch solved the issue of buying such items. We can now set the quantity to buy a whole stack of 250 at once. But, there still is no option to consume an entire stack of booze that counts for this achievement, making it a long and tedious task of double clicking and giving you cramps in the hand. I’m kinda surprised this hasn’t been done yet. They did it for the various alcoholic drinks from Wintersday Gifts.

Hero points still spawn champions

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

Yeah, this is one of the things I was sure Anet was going to fix in this patch, and then they didn’t because… reasons?

It’s absolutely unacceptable that you have to beg other players for help with basic map completion.

Forgot to add my thoughts earlier.

I agree. I too was hoping they would reduce hero point champions to veteran levels.

Hero points are a part of personal player progression. But like some achievements in living story season 2, it requires you to get a group to complete, or it’s going to be very hard (for some players) to do it solo. Living story is part of the personal story.

I just want to point out, when you require players to team up with others to do personal progression stuff, it isn’t personal anymore. Character progression should all be personal with the option to do it with other players.

Dungeons, Fractals, map-wide meta events, are all designed to be group specific content. They weren’t designed to be soloed, though some players are skilled enough to be able to. These types of PvE content should require a group effort.

Gaining hero points to unlock elite specializations only benefits you directly, while doing content designed for people working together benefits everyone equally.

We want to be clear about our business model for future expansions now that we are approaching our first paid expansion for Guild Wars 2. We believe that to keep the game dynamic and vibrant with a constantly growing community, it should be as easy as possible for new players to get into Guild Wars 2. For Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns, we didn’t want the core game’s price to be a factor in a new player’s decision to begin playing Guild Wars 2. In the future, if we release further Guild Wars 2 expansions, we plan to offer all of the prior expansions, the core game, and the latest expansion for one single purchase price.

Personally, I think I got my money’s worth. And I’d be happy to purchase the next expansion that they already announced they’re working on.

You can’t expect them to just give it away for free simply because you already have an existing account. They need to make money to keep the game going.

Hero points still spawn champions

Check the LFG tool. Sometimes I see someone doing a hero point run in Verdant Brink or other HoT maps (for free too). You could always ask in map chat for help.

Just smh with this raiding community

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

There is absolutely nothing in a raid you need to have in order to complete anything in this game. It all leads to cosmetic and vanity items to show off to people.

As others have suggested:
Try to go with a group of guild members and/or friends.
Advertise your own party in LFG to get your own group going. Make sure the message says you’ll take anybody.

I’ve never set foot in a raid or ever tried to join a group for one. Though, on occasion someone in my guild offers to take any members. It’s just not something I’m interested in at this time.

I don’t know about all this “elitism” stuff people claim is going on. It’s possible some players are running into it while others never see it.

I did a bunch of scale 1-20 fractals yesterday with pug groups from the LFG tool and never had a problem. Never had a problem in the past pugging fractals. Even when I mess up and get myself killed nobody complains. They pick me and we go on our way to the next area.

Keep in mind that raids are something players have asked for for a long time. They got what they wanted. There are going to be some players who have strict requirements and some players who take anybody. You can find people to go with if you try hard enough. Complaining on the forums isn’t going to get any results, and IMO, makes you look kinda entitled because things aren’t going the way you want them to.

Bags inside bags inside bags = real life

And there was a small box inside the giant box. And the cushions were inside bags inside their box.

If only chair manufacturers could give us a right-click option to unpack the contents all at once. I have plenty of room in my kitchentory.

It would also be nice if I could push a button to start auto-assembly on the chair then go afk for a few minutes while it puts itself together.

It would be cool if we had video game elements like that in real life. If only Bill Gates would get off his lazy bum and build a holodeck.

Walk into holodeck>set quantity>push button>Toyota Prius builds itself. Then just sell on eBay.

Edit: This thread is done in humor, based on a true story. =^_^=

My grandma just bought a glider chair with a footrest from Wal-Mart. I opened the box so I could put it together for her. Guess what was inside. That’s right. Another large box (just for the cushions).

So those of you who keep complaining about having to open bags or boxes in game that are inside bags/boxes, just keep this in mind: it’s based on real life.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I got a chair to assemble.

PSA: salvage dyes instead of selling them

rip pigment prices

Pigment prices may go down after more players figure this out. But…..dye prices will go up as a result. So it balances itself out.

Gliding Bug

While I couldn’t find it in the patch notes, it seems that the “bug” has been removed

It guess we have to go back to telling our non-HoT friends how fun gliding is instead of showing them.

The developer who created this thread clearly said they intended to fix it. You’re right that it wasn’t specifically stated in any patch notes as being fixed.

But, http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_updates/2016-04-19#Bug_Fixes_4

Fixed a bug that allowed accounts without glider access to purchase glider skins.

It’s possible this may have been the exact bug that allowed non-HoT players to glide in guild halls. It’s the closest thing in any patch notes related to gliders and players who don’t own the expansion.

990 furniture tokens...

Dev post on Reddit about it https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/4fjrxt/we_are_the_gw2_dev_team_here_to_chat_with_you/d29fvjb

The real answer to this would be very long and tech heavy. Short answer is that decorations are very different from normal items and don’t support being purchased in bulk at this time.

And a couple posts after another dev confirmed that it isn’t just because of the confirmation message.

A similar thing happens with my guardian sword skill #2 ‘Flashing Blade’. Even though the ground appears level with nothing in the way, sometimes it won’t activate and I get an error on screen telling me it couldn’t find a direct path to the target. Sometimes this happens even when I’m right next to the target facing it. I imagine some other skills in the game have the same problem.

Ranger Pet Botting?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

Would you all feel better if the botters improved their scripts so they didnt look like botters?

Would it matter? If anyone does anything about reports of this stuff, they only get smacked on the hand for doing it in the first place. That’s blatant 3rd party stuff, too.

That’s the wrong conclusion to come to. Just because 1 person supposedly received only a warning for using third party software, doesn’t mean they won’t suspend/ban anybody for it. It’s on a case-by-case basis.

It’s possible they may be relaxing their policies a bit, letting more things slide and/or giving out less harsh punishments. But it doesn’t mean that people should do whatever they want.

FPS drops since Update (3/8/16)

Here’s the issue I had with V-sync:

V-sync turned on – stuttering so bad at world boss events all I could do was set my character to auto attack and wait for the event to finish.

V-sync turned off – immediate improvement. I can get around 10fps at a world boss event and the game plays pretty smoothly. Also I haven’t noticed ANY tearing anywhere in the game with it off.

V-sync is not a one-size-fits-all option. For some people it actually makes things bad, or worse, while for others it fixes certain issues they’re having.

Each person should run their own tests to see if having V-sync on is better or worse for them.

@MrFayth.3546,
I did come to the realization eventually that frame rates going down in graphic intensive areas of the game is normal.

I’m pretty sure it wasn’t “culling”. Even with player characters at a distance not visible on screen due to the LOD being set to medium, I could still hold the ALT key and see their character names pop up, but that wasn’t the case. There were actually only a few characters around that area.

I guess I was a bit unclear on GPU temps. With just the desktop I was getting about 42 degrees C. While playing GW it was around 10 degrees warmer. After exiting the game the temperature did drop back down to around 42. That was with my Geforce GTX 750.

For my new GTX 950, the temperature is at 66 degrees with just the desktop running and is usually in the mid to high 70s with gaming, sometimes going up as high as around 80 degrees. The reason for that is the “quiet” fan. It doesn’t increase much in speed until the GPU gets rather hot, in order to keep the fan quieter.

Easily solved though. EVGA PrecisionX 16 – auto fan speed controls. I have it set to automatically increase the fan to a certain percent at higher temperatures. So while playing GW it’s in the 50-60 degree range now. Also, the fan seems to be broken in now. Even at higher speeds it seems to run a lot quieter now than it originally did.

Also, for people worried about your FPS going too far above your monitor’s refresh rate: You could try this: Game options>Graphics>frame rate limiter. Set it to 60fps if your monitor has a max refresh rate of 60Hertz.

Edit: In conclusion, my only issue is being an idiot and not realizing that not having 60fps 100% of the time is actually normal. LOL

Course Load Achievement

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

It isn’t the meta achievement the OP is asking about. It’s the infinite one that you can do as many times as you want.

Course Work is for completing 3 SAB daily achievements (basically it’s Daily Completionist but for SAB). You need to do this for 8 days to complete the Course Work infinite achievement to get a Kaiser Snake weapon skin.

Course Load achievement is the one you can do as many times as you want for completing 3 dailies for 8 days.

From what I’ve seen, usually these types of achievements, and almost all other festival achievements, are reset the next time the festival comes around. In other words, if you don’t finish it before SAB festival ends, you’ll have to start it over the next time.

Note: The Course Load achievement is under Festivals>World 2.

Edit: I had the achievements backwards LOL.
