As noted above, you can ask someone (Guild, friend, forum-user, Map chat) to open one for you…anywhere.

Good luck.

The point is, I shouldn’t have to run around Tyria trying to find someone to open a rift for me so I can get the device to start events myself.

Those are Rift Events. If you had a Stabilizer, you could open the Rift and finish the event. You will find those ‘orange star/circles’ all over Tyria, even in Cities. They will appear and disappear; they are not static.

I suspected they were rift events. But, as stated, the problem is I can’t get the rift stabilizer thingy to open a rift because I need an open rift to get the thingy first. I’m stuck in a paradox of craziness.

"Last time game detected problems with data"

“The Last Time the GW2 Client Launched it Detected Problems with the Data.”

I had never seen this message until today, when I saw it twice – on two different computers.

The first time was after the 3rd 5/16 patch when I logged off and back on to update the client. This was on my laptop when I was having WiFi connection issues and before logging off I had just had a problem loading into the guild hall. After ignoring the message and logging in and playing successfully, I brushed it off as having been the result of the client getting “confused” by some of the connection problems.

However today, I just got it on my wired desktop when trying to log in for the first time. I have not played on the Desktop in a few days, and had no problems the last time, however I DID download the patches on 5/16 without actually launching the game.

I am letting my desktop run a repair now, but am posting in the event that somebody has some information about this.

Same thing here. I had launched the game on May 16, 2016 at around 5:50 pm PST and saw there was another patch and got this message.

I chose to let it run a repair of the game client, but before launching the game I did something else first.

I went into:
C:\Users\ [Your User Name] \AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2 and deleted the Local.dat file.
then:
C:\Users\ [Your User Name] \AppData\Local\Temp and deleted the gw2cache-{numbers and letters} folder

Then rain a repair myself with a desktop shortcut that has the -repair command line added to it.

I haven’t had the error message since, and I had even logged into the game shortly before posting this. It’s perfectly fine to delete that file and folder because afterwards the game will have a small “patch” and replace the files. I’ve had to delete them on occasion because of various reasons, such as textures in the game looking like crap, and more recently v-sync in the game options wouldn’t stay unchecked (off) when I relaunched the game. In such cases, deleting these files solved my problems.

Class 1 Magic Rift (Current Events)

I checked again and still no rift. But I did notice ‘something’.

When I got to the pond an event icon (orange circle) appeared in the middle of the lake next to the point of interest. I then went around the lake to the north side and the event icon moved to the north west side of the lake. The Charr NPC had popped up right next to me and started wandering around the lake (he is the one you give the item to you find at the bottom of the lake).

I then went along the west side of the lake going south and the icon moved back to the middle of the lake, and moved back to the north west side when I went back to the north side of the lake.

Then about a minute later the event icon moved north east of the lake near the waypoint at Halkor Meadows. I went over to it and noticed an event at the fort over there was up to stop harpies from kidnapping villagers. So I killed a few harpies and went back to the lake, then got bronze reward for the event being successful (I’m guessing another player must have been there and finished the event).

But, while at the lake the event icon stayed over by the waypoint north east of the lake. I still didn’t see any rifts to jump into, but this whole thing seemed kinda strange that I’m being told there is an event in this spot, then this spot, then this other spot, and nothing is going on at those spots.

I took some screenshots.

Looking in the bug section of the forums, it seems epidemic is hitting the player using it and/or friendly targets as well.

It went from being OP to outright backfiring on people. Forgive me, but I find that a little funny. I’m sure the devs will fix it ASAP though.

Necromancer
Our biggest focus in this iteration for necromancers was that of Epidemic, in that its impact is too instant in most PvP scenarios, AS WELL AS THE HEAVY TOLL ON OUR SERVERS.

Based on that, it probably means that epidemic was causing lag. Aside from it being way too OP, players in WvW have complained a lot about skill lag, especially while inside Stonemist Castle in EBG. It makes me wonder if epidemic was contributing to that, at least in part. (there have been videos posted on YouTube showing how OP it really was)

Regardless of whether or not it was OP, the simple fact is that it was causing problems for everybody.

guild wars 2 leader of the pact 2 mastery?

Charrbeque.8729

You can’t avoid avoid it. You must unlock tier 2 before you can unlock tier 3. It’s worth it to max out this mastery for the auto-loot, and permanent swiftness while in cities.

Until you reach level 80, crafting items gets you experience. Some players craft stuff to level up new characters as a quick alternative instead of doing map complete and/or personal story. If you’re into crafting it also helps to level up your crafting schools faster so you can craft end game gear sooner. So this part of the mastery has its uses. (level 80 characters don’t get leveling experience once you reach level 80, but you can still level up crafting schools)

Probably guardian/dragonhunter. It seems to be a popular choice for commanders. Lots of complaints about epidemic necros as well (at least there use to be).

Maybe WvW should use the same gear system as PvP, or something similar, to balance things out more. Maybe limit the stack size of conditions you can put on other players? I’ve seen videos of players getting hit by epidemic, receiving 50 or more stacks of bleeding, on top of around the same amount of confusion, and a whole mess of other conditions, thus downing the player in an instant and killing them a second later.

Charrbeque.8729

I saw a post in the WvW forum mentioning Vet levels or similar along with a bunch of other stuff about WvW, but it was taken down within a couple of hours of posting. I don’t know if I would put much stock in it unless you see something official (an ANet blog on their game site, or interview with someone known to be on the ANet team).

I know the thread you’re talking about. I posted in it but it seems to no longer exist.

It was a “leak” thread, but it was pretty obvious the whole thing was a joke. It started off by saying Richard Simmons had revealed the information and the OP didn’t even post a single link to show where the information came from. I had made a joke about Charr sweating to the oldies in SMC smelling worse than they already do. It does seem like the thread is completely gone now, and my forum profile doesn’t have my post listed. (no message from a mod either)

For the love of Balthazar, please don’t go looking for leaks. If you do come across any, don’t believe a single thing unless ArenaNet has made an official announcement. You don’t want to get yourself all excited only to find something in a leak isn’t actually going to happen.

It’s really getting annoying now that, along with what seemed like a real leak, we have obvious fake leaks popping up left and right. And people are getting excited because they’re stupid and believe everything they hear or read on the internet. Anyone who gets mad because something in a leak never makes it into the game only has their self to blame.

Again, don’t believe anything unless ArenaNet has made an official announcement.

I had noticed an Agent Ifwyn NPC in the norn home instance, off in the south east area of the ground floor. The NPC was even there in the home instance when I needed to go to the home instance for personal story steps.

The other day I had chose to join the Order of Whisper for this character. Today I noticed there was a second copy of this NPC standing under the stairs next to the exit in the north east area of the ground floor.

Class 1 Magic Rift (Current Events)

in Living World

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

I had a problem with this months ago also.

I was in Hoelbrak and happened to come across a rift near the Sigfast’s Landing point of interest. I think it was a class 1 rift (might have been a class 2), but the wiki doesn’t have that specific spot in the town listed for a class 1 rift to spawn. It has only the Brawler’s Bout poi in the middle of the town listed https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Class_I_Magic_Rift#Locations

After jumping into the rift I was transferred to Fields of Ruin, just a little east of the Tyler’s Bivouac Waypoint. I was confused at the time wondering what happened. Since that character was fairly new and I hadn’t done much with it yet, so I left.

A few days later I looked it up on the wiki and Dulfy’s guide on her site. They all said the same thing: jump into rift, grab item at bottom of pond, give item to NPC at pond. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Class_I_Rift_Stabilizer#Acquisition

http://dulfy.net/2016/10/04/gw2-october-4-current-events-guide/

1. Go to [&BM8AAAA=] Gillscale Pond in Fields of Ruin. Look for a Class I Magic Rift around the pond and jump through it, it should port you directly above the pond and you drop down underwater.

I went there a few days later on a different character. I ran circles around that pond for a good 2 hours and didn’t see a single rift appear to jump into. So I then switched to the character I had jumped into a rift with in Hoelbrak and made my way to the pond and………nothing. No rift at the pond and no ‘???’ item in the pond to pick up.

I vaguely remember (sometime before I tried this) something about this particular event being disabled, but don’t recall if it was ever re-enabled. Edit: I think this was it: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/lwd/Magic-Rift-Issue (later in the thread it said the issue was fixed)

I also just went to the pond while writing this on the character I jumped through the rift with, and still nothing at the pond.

So, I have no idea how to even start this thing to get the rift stabilizer.

Dragon's Stand map kick

“Network error .

Please check your Internet connection and try again.
(Code=178:9:13:2932:101)

Change your graphics to best performance when you are in Dragon Stand, F11.

Not a graphics issue. Even if you join a squad in LFG you have to join them in the map before it resets, otherwise the map won’t let you switch instances. Period. You can still go to DS but won’t be able to switch to the instance your party/squad is in once the map has reset and the chain of events starts.

Originally, there were various events throughout the map that weren’t part of the meta event, much like Verdent Brink. But the meta took a really long time to come up and players complained a lot about it. So the map was revamped a long time ago, removing all non-meta events, and turning it into a meta event only map on a 2 hour cycle. This is when the problem started where you can’t switch instances once the map events have started. You just wind up with that “network error, check your internet connection” message box that pops up. It isn’t a network error at all. The only thing I can think of is it’s either intentional to prevent overfarming (then again, Auric Basin multi-loot for a loooong time before they fixed it), or the map is full but gives the wrong message.

I had the same issue: GFE couldn’t optimize Guild Wars 2 anymore. All I got on the optimize page was a message saying

Unable to retrieve current game settings. Starting and closing the game, or editing the in-game settings, should fix this problem.

No matter what I did I just couldn’t get GFE to allow game optimization. Not even as it suggested by running the game and changing around settings in the graphics options. (The only thing I never tried was uninstalling and reinstalling the game because that takes a while to redownload everything)

May 9, 2017: Windows Update had the creators update. After that I launched the Nvidia Geforce Experience and saw it had an update.

GFE version 3.6.0.74
GW2 is no longer showing up in GFE for optimizing, and when scanning games it isn’t found either. I did check the settings/games in GFE and saw that my scan locations haven’t changed. I only have the 64 bit version of GW2 installed though.

It doesn’t effect me though. I never used GFE to optimize the game anyway. I prefer to use the auto-detect in the game graphics options and manually adjust from there.

QOL: LFG blocker (full maps)

Charrbeque.8729

I agree. It gets rather tiring.

I went to Dragon’s Stand once some time ago. I joined a group advertising in LFG a few minutes before the map reset, and tried to join them in their instance. Well all I got was a message box on screen that said something about an error and to check my internet connection. I kept trying to join that squad in their instance, even leaving and regjoining the squad in LFG, up until sever minutes after the map had reset and the events started. I just kept getting the same weird error message, not allowing me to enter their instance, and I just gave up and went somewhere else. To my understanding, once the meta event starts in Dragon’s Stand, no new players can join an instance in progress, even if there’s room in the map.

Mad King’s Labyrinth during Halloween is notorious for this. I enter the map, join a group in LFG, then try to switch to that groups instance, only to get a message saying the map is full. Often times I have to try 10 or more groups before I finally an instance that isn’t full yet.

What I wish would happen is a group advertising in LFG would be automatically removed from LFG when the instance they’re advertising in becomes full, and a message being sent to the player who advertised the instance letting them know it’s full. And yeah, a message saying the map they’re advertising is full would be nice also.

It’s really frustrating having to spend a good 10 minutes just trying to find a map that has room for you. And it’s hard not to get mad at people in LFG who didn’t remove their group when the instance became full.

Does ANET just not care about healthbar UI?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

A while back they did add a checkbox in the game options that displays a percentage on the health bar when targeting players/NPCs. But it would be nice to have an option to show actual health point numbers. There have been times when fighting a boss or champion and its health bar shows it has 1% left and it still takes like 5 more minutes to finally defeat it (like in fractals and other group content).

An option that shows both a percentage and hit points on a health bar would be nice, but I’d settle for only displaying 1 or the other.

So far I’ve only completed episode 5 on 1 character and it seems that is the only character M.O.X. shows up for in home instances.

From the looks of things, he seems to show up for only characters that have completed the episode, so it’s not an account-wide addition to your home instance like the millions of freaking cats I’ve collected. And that just sucks. I’m working on my necromancer now who is only in chapter 2 of the personal story, so it’s gonna be a while before I get into any living world/HoT content.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/M.O.X.
The wiki says:

After the player has completed the story instance Heart of the Volcano, M.O.X. appears in the player’s home instance and allows the player to play music from the original Guild Wars game.

It makes no mention that he only shows up for characters that have completed the episode, which seems to be the case.

I’m posting this here because I’m not sure it’s a bug. It would be nice if we only had to do the episode once for him to be added for all characters on our accounts.

I haven’t bothered with those achievements yet. (got bored with the map a few days after it released) So I can’t verify your claim.

However, on the Reddit AMA yesterday a dev said: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/68vw84/flashpoint_devs_here_ask_us_anything/dh1tlc6/?context=3

Question: Could you give an update whether Koda’s Blessing will be removed as a requirement for the Episode 3 Story Journal icon?

Answer: Yes, this is still the intent, and I didn’t manage to get to it- I’ll make sure we’ve got a task in for that so I can make sure it doesn’t slip through the cracks again.

Check to see for A Crack in The Ice if you have the ’Koda’s Blessing’ achievement. If not, that’s why the achievement icon in the story journal isn’t lit up. But, as can be seen here, that achievement will be removed as a requirement.

LV3 has 6 episodes - next expansion near?

Probably October for the expansion.

Why? Going by their current 2-3 month release schedule, episode 6 will launch in July or August, and October is within that schedule. Also, HoT launched in October, about the same time the Halloween event had started. If episode 6 launches in August, then November would be the latest for the expansion most likely.

But I’m really betting on October, just so it can be released the same month as the first expansion. Although it was kind of annoying having to hold off on HoT content for a bit so I didn’t miss out on farming ToT bags. HoT was permanent content and I wanted to participate in the limited time event as much as possible.

One thing I forgot to mention: during the fight I had ran around and clicked the consoles to release the experiments so they could help me in the battle.

While Lazarus was stuck on the wall, 3 of the experiments were attacking a single spot on the ground, which happened to be right where Marjory was standing. They weren’t doing any damage to Lazarus though. I also noticed the Jormag Experiment still had the pink bubbles animation above its head as if it was still dazed but it wasn’t.

I glided over to him and attacked, and he dropped some AOE which took about half my health real quick. I dropped down and glided back to the ground, but he remained stuck up on the wall. Due to the very tiny ledge where the sprinkler is located, I’m unable to avoid his AOEs, and since he won’t come down I’m going to have to leave and restart the episode.

Taimi’s pet project instance (the very first part of the new episode).

Chain of events: Just to the left of 1 of the emergency sprinklers there is a wall. I activated all of the emergency sprinklers for an achievement, then I glided over the wall just to see what was there (there was nothing on the other side). I got the message that I was leaving the playing field and there was no way to get back over to the middle of the room, so I had no choice but to move around until I got kicked. I continued the instance, which actually restarted the whole entire thing.

During the fight with Lazarus, I started going up the staircases in the room so I could active the emergency sprinklers again. But what happened was for some reason Lazarus was right behind my character popping in and out constantly as I was moving. Even when I glided over the the first sprinkler he was still popping in and out in the air. Then he wound up getting stuck above that sprinkler.

Also of note, when I continued the instance (which restarted it), I noticed in the very first part the Jormag Experiment didn’t go into its containment field like all the others did after that part was complete. The experiment was standing next to the containment thingy but dazed while the containment field it was suppose to be inside was down.

Charrbeque.8729

Well 11 months ago a dev said this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Mystic-Coins-again/page/2#post6157178

Most of this price increase revolves around players that are pushing the value up due to the players willingness to pay more. If players are willing to pay more for an item, it’s going to keep increasing until eventually it hits a ceiling for the commodity. We’ve seen the same thing occur with numerous commodities over time.

Right now there is a consistent supply of mystic coins entering the game (way more than are being consumed) and churning through the trading post at a very slow rate. —-Most of the coins on the market are ones that have been flipped.-—

In retrospect, this is actually causing the daily login reward to be worth significantly more to players who wish to convert mystic coins to gold.

Although he didn’t specifically use the word “hoarding”, he gave a pretty good impression that: Most of the mystic coins are in FACT being hoarded by players intent on keeping the price high, because apparently some players seem to not mind the higher prices.

Oh and, remember earlier I pointed out a dev on Reddit said that 30k coins were purchased by 2 players? Well………….https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/5dmnfm/before_leaving_gw2_i_invensted_in_stuff_in_case_i/da5owid/ That was posted some time after the dev’s comment. Someone talking about buying 15k mystic coins for a future investment.

what it suggests is that an unusual amount of coins being traded arent being consumed. non flippers are, by an unusual percent, niether interested in buying or selling.

basically as the above poster said, not interested in the coin market at any price. well, unless it was cheap maybe

True. Lack of interest in using mystic coins is the reason why they’re being hoarded in order to keep the price up. And those that actually intend to use them are willing to pay the higher price. (If you’re working on a legendary, you most likely have the gold to pay the higher price anyway)

Which brings me back to my point: the supply is there. It’s basically not moving. And because of that, the devs aren’t going to do anything about it.

And to repeat my suggestion: 1 possible solution is to come up with something players actually want to use mystic coins for. It would increase consumption, which in turn would encourage the hoarders to put more supply on the trading post to get as much gold as they can before the price gets too low to turn a profit. Which of course means the prices would decrease due to more supply being posted. And when a good portion of the hoarded supply is permanently removed from the game (due to players actually using them), then the devs can find a way to give us a better and more reliable way to obtain them. Just a theory.

Don’t bet on it. Just because the game is old doesn’t mean it will never happen. Star Trek Online launched on Xbox One and Playstation 4 in mid/late 2016, and the game was 6 and a half years old when it happened.

But there are things to consider. Such as the console companies most likely wanting a share of any sales related to the game and/or the gem shop.

Another thing though, in STO’s case it was said ahead of time that your PC account wouldn’t transfer over to consoles. None of your characters, items, subscription status, or cash shop purchases would be available. You don’t lose any of this on the PC version. You just have to start with a completely new account for consoles. To my understanding, this might be a standard practice with the console companies for MMO’s that port their games over.

And if that’s the case, I don’t think anyone with 10’s of thousands of achievement points would be too pleased to find nothing from their account would transfer over. It would also mean, unless the game was fully free-to-play on consoles, you’d most likely have to buy a copy of the game for consoles and make a new account.

Basically, the game releasing on consoles would mainly be for new players, to reach out to players who prefer a different gaming platform that otherwise wouldn’t be interested in Guild Wars 2.

You just aren’t getting it. I don’t think the screenshot was faked in any way.

Here is why: back in January 2017, on 1 day the supply of mystic coins suddenly tanked, and the price shot through the roof, over 4 gold each.

A dev confirmed at the time that 30k mystic coins were sold in the trading post that day. Someone asked if it was 1 player buying all of them, or was it that many total sold that day. The dev responding by saying “it was 2 people”. That’s right. 2 players bought 30k mystic coins in a single day. https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/5nbdxj/someone_just_bought_10k_mystic_coins_price_is/dcb764k/?context=1000

Which furthers my belief that someone posting a screenshot of him/her having a guild vault full of dozens of stacks of mystic coins isn’t trolling nor do I believe it’s a photoshop job. Because in the past it has been proven that only a few players had purchased massive quantities of the kitten ed things.
———————————
Here is what happened before living world season 3 episode 4 released:

A dev said they’re going to do something about hardened leather. Then later they said that Lake Doric was going to have a place to farm leather. So yeah, naturally, the community assumed the leather farm in Lake Doric was the answer to the hardened leather issue, even though ArenaNet never specifically stated the leather farm was to address the issue. Then again, I don’t recall a dev ever correcting the community by saying the leather farm wasn’t the answer to the hardened leather issue or that they still had plans to do something about it. Because of their silence on the matter, the community further believed the leather farm in Lake Doric was answer to the hardened leather issue. And of course, it wasn’t a solution at all. Hardened leather drops from the leather farm aren’t any better than anywhere else in the game, and naturally the prices haven’t gone down in the trading post (at least not much since the farm was added). They prices have been pretty stable.

First of all I didn’t say you were trolling but the one posting the image might be. No different than using a chat code to say you got a precursor or some equally expensive thing to drop at some event instead of the usual daily rare with two blues and a green. Plus it’s a lot easier for a large guild to accumulate that many through conventional means. I still believe that the amount found across the tens of thousands of “normal” players far out number what a few groups are holding.

Also while it’s true that Mystic Coins are used for cosmetic items, this IS Fashion Wars 2. And I don’t consider Legendary Weapons and soon armors with their ability to change stats just a pretty skin.

And it doesn’t alter the fact that ANet added a challenging group event to earn additional ones if you want. Which sounds just like the language they used to describe the leather farm.

As for T6 leather, I don’t believe any dev said “we are fixing T6 leather prices”. They may have acknowledge the price is out of whack and they will “investigate”. The rest was the community echo chamber on Reddit and the forums twisting that into “fixing T6”. And why should ANet correct this false belief? Did they correct the community’s redefining “suspended” to mean “canceled” when it came to delaying additional new Legendary Weapons? The community already decide what it means and any attempt to correct them would be seen as “lying” or “breaking promises”. So the original statement is long forgotten but instead is collectively “remembered” as “we are fixing T6 leather”.

And really, it costs 420-490 gold for the ascended mats needed to make a full set of ascended armor, the 65 gold for the T6 leather sections to make the insignia isn’t that significant.

No no. I wasn’t saying you said I was trolling. I was saying I don’t think that person’s screenshot was trolling.

Also, I said ArenaNet said back then that they were going to “do something about hardened leather”, not that they were fixing anything or doing anything about the prices.

This whole thing is one confusing mess. When the hell does this happen in the game?

Have you ever tried that ley-line anomoly event?

Yes, for a time right after it came out, once the event was understood. Never had an issue but it was done as a guild so lots of players in a squad rather than the usual flash mob of randoms. But it took quite a bit of time to complete.

When you need hundreds of mystic coins for whatever reason, 1 coin per day from an almost impossible to complete event isn’t worth the effort. Even if you can manage to complete the event every day, it’s still not worth the effort.

Which is what I said, for each player it isn’t much but game wide it may have been a plus for supply.

The problem with mystic coins isn’t the supply. Just before your post I submitted proof that what has been constantly said is that, some players are hoarding thousands and thousands of mystic coins.

No all you showed was a screenshot that may be proof or may be a photoshop troll. I don’t disagree that players are holding on to them, I have over 1500 accumulated over the years.

Mystic coins are needed mostly for cosmetic stuff, not anything you actually need for the game. For example, you need ascended gear for high level fractals for the agony infusions and crafting said gear requires a lot of hardened leather. You can do fractals without it, but it’s going to be a lot more difficult and you may get hassled by other players for it. Before living story season 3 episode 4 released, a dev said they were going to “do something about hardened leather”, and later said that Lake Doric was going to include a leather farm. This implied that there is a real need for leather and not enough supply in the game.

Other than for Insignia, you don’t need “a lot” of T6 leather to craft ascended armor. Only 30 sections per Insignia/piece. Hardly “a lot” when you are talking hundreds of T5 mats per piece. And it was the player base that assumed the addition of a leather farm was to exclusively provide T6 rather than providing a much needed way to farm leather for all tiers.

As I said in the post you quoted, the Players’ sole currency is TIME. But since ascended is locked behind a variety of time gates, taking 25-36 days to craft the T7 mats requited, is getting 3-4 T6 leather sections a day too much? I would think gathering the T2-T5 mats per day to craft the T7 mat a much tougher obstacle to overcome.

You just aren’t getting it. I don’t think the screenshot was faked in any way.

ANet has said that they look at supply flowing into the game Vs being consumed and try to have supply around 10% higher. This may work if they are looking to nerf an excess of supply flowing into the game however consumption may simply be low because the unit price is so high and keeps moving upwards. This discourages outright selling because the next day/week/month it will cost more.

Now ANet has added additional ways to acquire both Mystic Coins and T6 Leather Sections. For Mystic Coins there’s the Ley-Line Anomaly Event that spawns every two hours that once a day will drop a Mystic Coin per account and for T6 Leather the LWS3E4 “leather farm”.

The thing with both of these is from the 10 KM level ANet may be seeing an uptick in supply flowing into the game and figure job done. Problem is for the individual player on the ground a single Mystic Coin or a dozen T6 Leather Sections isn’t worth the time relative to the reward, as you could take that time and do an activity that would supply you with more gold than it would cost to buy a similar amount from the TP, so why bother?

The raw currency a Player has is time. That’s why time gated materials hurt. That’s why materials/items behind RNG hurt. Now one purpose of the TP is to help alleviate the issues with RNG because if Player A doesn’t need X and Player B does, the TP will act as the intermediary. But that in reality relies on GOLD as the medium of exchange and so if nearly everything can be bought with gold, players evolve play styles optimizing on acquiring gold in the shortest amount of time.

Now if it only took five minutes instead of fifteen to do the Ley-Line Anomaly Event to get the daily Mystic Coin, more players would likely do it. Because lets be honest, nobody is going out of their way to do this event for 200+ karma and 50+ copper.

The Leather Farm is more problematic. If it’s too rewarding for the time invested, it could cause a flood of leather of all tiers flowing into the TP and tanking the price and we’ll be right back to where we were pre-HoT. Because unlike ore and lumber, the leather farm isn’t selective as to what tier(s) you get which means you will sell off the tiers you don’t care about. Now if it dropped only T5 and T6, since it’s a level 80 zone, that would be different. True T2-T5 is used in crafting T7 leather so they aren’t totally useless but it’s easy to forget that if you want to craft a new set of insignia today because the meta changed or your role in the raid changed and you only care about T6.

Have you ever tried that ley-line anomoly event? It’s nearly impossible to complete. There were a ton of complaints about it on the forums in the past. In my experience, I tried it twice on 2 separate days in Gendarrin Fields. Both times there must have been at least 30 players chasing that thing. Both times we couldn’t even drop down to 50% health before time ran out and the stupid thing exploded. This particular event for 1 mystic coin per day wasn’t a favor for the community, and honestly I’m getting sick of this argument.

When you need hundreds of mystic coins for whatever reason, 1 coin per day from an almost impossible to complete event isn’t worth the effort. Even if you can manage to complete the event every day, it’s still not worth the effort.

The problem with mystic coins isn’t the supply. Just before your post I submitted proof that what has been constantly said is that, some players are hoarding thousands and thousands of mystic coins. The supply is already in the game. It’s just not being sold on the trading post because the demand for them isn’t very high.

Since the supply of mystic coins is already there (it’s just being hoarded by selfish players), they can’t do anything to increase or add new ways to get them. Otherwise hoarders will scramble to sell for what profit they can, and in turn the value of them will plummet. Then players will complain about there being too much supply and they can’t get anything for them in the trading post.

The only solution I can think of is to add something to the game that requires mystic coins to make that is actually needed. Then when the total supply in the game starts dropping, they can add new ways to get them or increase the amounts we already get.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/66m13h/anet_this_really_should_be_part_of_the_game/dgjutww/

I understand this isn’t going to be a popular opinion, as those that like more viability in their UI will no doubt enjoy the addition. However, taking the initiative yourself to make a post saying that “this is what ANET should do” to garner support for a feature you know is in violation of the rules is going to attract my attention.

While I understand your opinion on this matter, that does not make it OK to push development of a “DPS Meter” to include features that clearly reach beyond the interpretation of “combat data” or even a DPS Meter. Combat data was defined as any data that is generated via combat, and player health pools (or other features that remain hidden inside your “DPS Meter”) do not fall under that and I was very clear.

This is exactly why I chose not to endorse or say any specific tool was “OK”, because further development was likely to reach beyond it’s scope originally.

Your tool isn’t in compliance, and hasn’t been for some time. I’m not going to warn you any further.

Edit for note to users: I get it. I really do, as someone who had 59 billion addons for WoW and authored my own, I get it. The problem here is that we can’t control the functionality and can’t audit every change made. These tools evolve based on their creators, and we see that here. You are using them at your own risk, and while Bhagawan’s site says “BGDM is officially allowed by ANET!”, you can’t always trust that. There’s no telling what gets pushed by closed source programs like this. Be careful.

Your account’s aren’t at risk right now, I fault the tool creator on this one, not his users.

Further in the thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/66m13h/anet_this_really_should_be_part_of_the_game/dgjwapj/

Good questions here, but nothing I haven’t already answered. I’ll go ahead and rebump previous info given out here.

ArenaNet authorizes the use and development of 3rd Party tools under the banner of a “DPS Meter”. “DPS Meters” is defined as the collection and processing of combat related data in order to develop a statistical and visual representation of that data. This combat data maybe collected from anyone inside of your immediate social group. Social groups are defined as including the player character, and current party and/or squad.

Combat data does not include current entity status, including current Buffs/Debuffs/Health/Stats/Location or any other data that is not generated due to the usage of skills or impact on player characters due to skill usage (by the PC/s or an outside source).

The collection and processing of data in the client must be limited to the scope of the “DPS meter” and should not exceed it. Visualization of this data must also limited to the scope of the “DPS Meter” which includes visualizations, logging, and processing/visualization of logging.

The bolded part repeated: Combat data was defined as any data that is generated via combat, —>and player health pools (or other features that remain hidden inside your “DPS Meter”) do not fall under that and I was very clear.<--

The answer to the OP’s question is officially “NO”, from the looks of things.

Race-Change Item in Gem Store?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

The amount of work it would take to allow for this would not be able to be earned back.

This is due to the personal story. The Level 1-80 part of it. The choices one makes in that story, including the parts in character creation that are racial specific, are coded to be unchangeable. They’ve mentioned that they’ve tried to make the story replayable, but that just ends up with more glitches. Including not being able to progress in the story any farther.

Even the devs moving story chapters around has caused problems for players who were on those affected chapters to some degree.

And then even if you could handle the story problems, then you get to racial armor that’s for the old race and is soulbound to the character that is no longer the proper race. And switching to the new racial armor is problematic due to the achievements.

Well………it wasn’t entirely true back then. The very final part of the personal story – Arah dungeon story mode – use to actually be replayable, but it required you to have a full party of players to step on switches to open at least 1 door. Quite a while ago they changed it so you can only complete it once but tweaked things so you could actually complete it solo if you wanted to. (Note: the Arah dungeon paths are still replayable. Only the story mode was changed to a one time only deal)

If I remember right, they changed the Arah dungeon story mode around the same time they rearranged some of the story steps in the last chapter or 2. And you’re right. I do remember that players who were on specific story steps when things were changed wound up not being able to progress their personal story anymore and the devs had to find a way to fix it.

It is a possibility they could some day allow us to change our character’s race, but it would probably require them to rebuild the personal story from the ground up to make that possible. It really depends on whether or not it’s worth such an investment of time and resources.

And it really isn’t worth their time to completely rebuild old content, like living story season 1 for example, unless it was so plagued with bugs that nothing worked. But, they can build new content with player’s feedback in mind. Such as living story season 2 and everything after it being replayable and permanent content.

I hit it again to finish it off when I recovered from the knockdown. I think I started spamming skill 1 (chain sticks) a second or two after the bunny had spawned because I didn’t realize at first it was there.

I looked at the combat tab in my chat window to see what happened. It didn’t show the rabbit did any damage to me at all. Instead it said

SAB Continue Room Bugged

This doesn’t happen all the time, but here is some footage of what it does. This making continuing on Tribulation impossible at times.

I can’t tell you how to reproduce the glitched game over room, but I can tell you what happened to the player in that video and why they got stuck in the game over room.

The player had died right above the piano key checkpoint. Just to the left of that particular checkpoint are some small steps to hop up which will lead you to where that polar bear is, and continue on past it.

As you see, the player in the video immediately started jumping and wound up in the left corner of the room.

I’m guessing the player didn’t realize it was his/her last life and was expecting to respawn at that checkpoint and was pressing left and spamming jump to get back up to finish killing the polar bear and continue on with the zone.

I did end up in that glitched game over room only once. I think I was in world 2 zone 2 trib mode and near the end where you have the pillars with a couple tiny trampolines on top. Possibly I had bounced on a trampoline, came up short for landing on the next pillar, and fell to my death which took my final life. (right after the pillars is a balloon and cloud save and just beyond that is the final piano checkpoint and boss cage)

When I wound up in the glitched game over room I didn’t jump or press any keys. I figured I’d just wait until the timer runs out and I’m sent back to the hub to start the zone all over again (that is, if it wasn’t glitched so bad I’d have to exit the game and relaunch it). But, after several seconds the glitching completely stopped and I was able to use my infinite continue coin, picking up at the last checkpoint I had reached.

I’m in the habit of waiting until I respawn before trying to move or do anything. So my advice is to not rush things. When you die, don’t start spamming keys. Waiting a couple seconds isn’t going to kill you and can prevent weird stuff from happening.

I hopped over the little wall and landed right on the checkpoint button, but instead of bouncing me up into the air, it bounced me down, straight through the floor. Sorry I haven’t got around to mentioning this.

What happens at that checkpoint is when you step on the button to activate it, you’re pushed straight through the short red wall in front of the button back onto the gold scale you needed to lower to get up there. What must have happened was I was standing at the wrong angle or something and when it went to push me through the red wall, I glitched and wound up underneath the checkpoint inside the environment. This seems to happen no matter what difficulty mode you’re playing on.

You can see it here in Dulfy’s video guide for Tribulation mode. When stepping on the button, Dulfy is shoved through the little red wall onto the gold platform.

What they could do: with the mini map at max size in the bottom right corner, have the icons stop before the map. Any additional icons would go into a new row on top. It would make things easier in competitive gameplay as well, since other player’s buffs/conditions can go far to the right of the screen, thus allowing you to actually see everything they have. K.O. finally. Took them long enough.

Yea. I’m just kittened it took until someone soloed a raid boss for Anet to actually do something

Wait wait wait… did that really happen?
I would think bosses would have built in see through stealth mechanics.

LOL.

Yep. He posted a link to the almost 2.5 hour video soloing that sloth raid boss with a ghost theif. https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/5yy0yl/slothasor_solo_kill/

It took them only 16 days from the time that was posted on Reddit to finally do something about ghost thief, when WvW players have been complaining about it for months.

My observations: at least 1 player here had suggested many weeks ago that damage be added to thief traps so the thief will be revealed when the trap is triggered. It’s been suggested multiple times before the most recent balance update.

Months of complaints about ghost thief in WvW: nothing done about it.

Show you can solo a raid boss with it: Oh Lord Almighty! We can’t have that! Nerf it ASAP!

There’s something charming about rangers.
