Nerf to bloodstone crystal nodes?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Charrbeque.8729

Seems like it was nerfed.

I think before the Halloween event, I farmed Bloodstone Fen a bit to get blood ruby backpacks for a couple characters. On average, I was getting close to, or more than, 30 blood blood rubies a day.

I started farming there again, just doing the daily achievements and hitting up all the blood crystal nodes I can find. Average amount of blood rubies per day: around 15-17. I think the only time I got more than 20 in a single day was when we actually completed the full Jade Construct event (which included defeating the legendary boss). Most of the time nobody wants to do the Jade event and it just fails. In fact, it seems like nowadays (as has been reported on the forums) the map seems pretty dead. Usually enough players to defeat Hablion for the daily achievement, but that’s about it.

This thread is from 2 months ago, which is about the time I stopped farming Bloodstone Fen. I’d say that it really does seem like they nerfed blood rubies from nodes quite a bit. Often times lately, I will mine 3 or more nodes in a row and not get a single blood ruby. Most nodes that do give rubies only gives me 1 or 2. Sure, there was never a guarantee to get any blood rubies from the nodes, but the drop rate use to be higher.

Edit: I’ve only ever farmed the map on a single character at a time. So yeah, going from an average of up to more than 30 blood rubies in a day to around half of what it use to be, means getting the backpack and trinkets for my engineer is going to take longer.

Sheesh. When HoT launched people complained about the lack of water in the new maps and begged for underwater content. We got Ember Bay not too long ago and it has lots of water to swim. It even has a champion shark thing event that sometimes is the daily achievement. Even the most recent map, Bitterfrost Frontier has a large under water area.

Too much clipping on individual armor pieces. It’s a ton of work with so many different pieces to make sure they all work together without looking bad. Outfits are easier since they only have to worry about the outfit clipping with itself.

Never heard of of player characters having collision when they’ve been CTRL+T targeted before. Heck, we did it to each other a lot last year in the JP. I even did it to the botters a lot so you could see them easier when they teleport across the map, making it easier to click them to report them. It was funny when a player asked what the hell just flew past him.

As for having access to your weapon/utility skills: that was a bug last year. Sometimes when the map reset and you have several seconds to wait before you can start jumping you’d have access to all your skills for a couple seconds, and sometimes right when you first spawn in the instance.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_updates/2016-12-13#World_Polish

Fixed a bug that could cause players to keep their normal skill bar during Winter Wonderland.

Perhaps the bug wasn’t quite fixed for whatever reason?

At this time I’ve only done the JP 9 times, 8 of which was during an entire match, and hadn’t noticed these issues. If I was farming the JP like last year I’d probably come across it eventually, if it is happening.

Snowball cats in home instance lose interest

I noticed for a while now, sometimes I can’t find the cats playing with the snowball anywhere in the home instance. I don’t check all instances though. I just don’t see them sometimes in whichever home instance I go to for daily gathering.

I first noticed this when I got the snow leopard cub from Bitterfrost Frontier added to my home instance. The snowball cats do show up on occasion so I have no idea why they don’t show up sometimes. It’s possible the cats are hanging about with the snowball missing, but I don’t recall seeing a large group of cats other then the ones that fight each other.

You must be thinking of the Karka Helm skin, which actually is a bug stuck to your face. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Karka_Helm_Skin

I’ll buy the outfit if it’s available in the gem shop. It does look nice. Of course, there is the option to hide your helm so you don’t have to have the mask if you don’t want to.

And as usual, female charr and asura get them male version, judging by the screenshots on Dulfy. I want a butt cape for my engineer dagnabbit.

Making players less obnoxious?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

Back items being hidden in Toypocolypse is probably due to a technical reason. But in the jumping puzzle it’s to prevent large back skins like giant wings from obstructing the view of other players, and it would be distracting to hear “your grawl impressions is really coming along” all the time because a bunch of players would get the idea to use that back item just to be annoying.

It does seem like they toned down the frequency of voices and sound effects in the game. I noticed in Bloodstone Fen and Ember Bay that my character hardly ever lets out a scream anymore. It used to be about every 15 minutes or so (at least it seemed that frequent). Not I can run around the map for 3 hours and only heard my character scream 2 or 3 times. We had at least 1 thread on the forums, maybe 2, where players complained the screaming was so often it became annoying. The thing is, you can actually hear other player’s characters scream, not just your own. It was fun at first but I admit, it did get old after a while.

I’m assuming they must have toned down the frequency for the Job-O-Tron back skin also. Players had complained about it since it was first released, because you can hear other player’s back items talking. I bought the back skin the day it was first released and didn’t use it for long myself, because I found it got annoying real fast.

I also noticed my my -R-Tron gathering tools from the gem shop don’t talk as much as they use to. I stopped using those after a while because they got annoying. I started using them again recently and that’s when I noticed the change.

As for The Dreamer: I have seen it happen a bunch of times where a player with it would stand around a bunch of other players and use the bow skills constantly for a while, obviously to annoy everyone around them. I think there may have been at least some complaints on the forums about the sound effect.

So yes. It seems ArenaNet is trying to make the game less obnoxious, based on player feedback. Personally I think it’s a good thing.

Mystic coin suggestion: Dialy Completionist

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

So, what would be wrong about adding (any ammount of) mystic coins to the Dialy Completionist rewards?

Why? Mystic coins are only used to create premium skins (and a few guild hall buffs). We each earn about a stack/year just from logging in. If we want more, we can buy all we need on the TP.

The only way you can justify the high price is if you are in the flipper campaign and are making GGG from a market that does not have enough supply entering it, the reason why they aren’t being consumed is because they cost 1G each or they did last night, and they are linked to recipes that are stupidly RnG based, which is absurd.

The high price doesn’t need to be ‘justified’ — it is what your fellow players are willing to pay.

In any case, ‘flippers’ aren’t a ‘campaign’ and aren’t risking gold on m-coins: the price differential between buy & sell is always too little to justify it. It hasn’t been a good market for short-term speculators either, as the price has been mostly holding steady, except during festivals, when people are in a rush for 2-3 weeks to acquire more (for new shinies). Even then, there are far better ways to invest coin

Added: to be clear, I’m not against ANet increasing players’ monthly influx of coins modestly (perhaps once now and once in 6-10 months). I just don’t think it’s necessary, let alone urgent.

When Wintersday started, the supply of mystic coins in the TP suddenly dropped, and the price went up to over 1g each. https://www.gw2tp.com/item/19976-mystic-coin From the looks of things on December 13 the supply went from over 20k to under 6k. Though, it looks like the supply is back up over 10k. That means in a matter of hours, well over half the mystic coins in the TP were gone either from being sold or just being removed. Granted, the Winter’s Presence shoulder skin requires a total of 150 mystic coins, which could explain the sudden drop.

And to correct you: Nightfury is an ascended shoulder armor https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Nightfury_
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bat_Wing and it requires 250 mystic coins to create this component for it. Mystic coins aren’t just for skins.

I got the Winter’s Presence shoulder skin last year, but I’m still working on Nightfury. With less than 40 mystic coins right now, it’s going to be a long time before I can ever complete it due to there being not reliable way to get them as well as the supply going down and prices going up. At 1g each if I were to buy all the coins I needed it would cost me 2,500 gold just for that alone. That’s close to or more than a legendary, and it’s just 1 type of item needed to craft the ascended shoulders.

We got cheated out of potential AP again

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Well, some players weren’t good at certain activities and/or didn’t like certain activities, and felt like they were missing out of AP because it was locked behind content that was too difficult for them (like the jumping puzzle or bell choir).

So players don’t have to worry about doing stuff that’s too hard and/or they don’t like without missing anything. Just pick your favorite activity and get a few extra gifts every so many times you complete it. I think last year I skipped out on the AP from the infinite achievements for all but the JP, because I was farming the JP for gifts to get the shoulder skin and it was too time consuming to do activities that weren’t efficient for getting gifts.

Besides, it’s only about 25 less achievement points than last year and that’s not very much.

Added validation for chapters 7 and 8 of the personal story. Characters who had quests erroneously marked as complete will receive in-game mail from Scholar Aiti and be able to continue their personal story.

I guess some players had story steps in chapter 7 and/or 8 that wrongfully indicated they were complete even though the players didn’t actually do those steps. So there was a bit of a reset to fix this error.

Please revert the bugfixes to wintersday jp

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Charrbeque.8729

Last year for Wintersday we had a ton of bots in the jumping puzzle. One of their methods was to try to get into an instance by themselves (where the timer glitched out and never restarted, allowing them to farm endlessly with nobody else around) to reduce the risk of other players spotting and reporting them. It’s possible all the botters are the reason why we often times had trouble just getting into the map, where it would suddenly give us a second loading screen and we’d respawn in Divinity’s Reach. Often times it took me over 10 tries just to get into the instance.

At the time of writing, I haven’t logged into the game yet. But it sounds like they’ve made some improvements to the Winter Wonderland JP.

To be honest, when I read this thread’s title, I was expecting it to be a complaint about the fix to the presents in the JP randomly popping when they weren’t suppose to, where the fix had a negative impact on players. Instead, I find it’s just a complaint about not having the whole instance to one’s self.

I think this is good. This way the high AP items will be harder to reach, fewer will get them and they will therefore be more elite and prestigious. You should be glad for this OP.

That’s kind of a weird way of thinking about it. Normal people couldn’t care less what other people in a game do or have, since it has no affect on their own stuff. I think you need to remember that this is a GAME; there are no “accomplishments” or “status” associated with anything in any game, because it is all pretend/imaginary.

True. Most players don’t care if someone has a nice item or a lot of achievement points.

But some of those who believe in exclusivity and prestige are down right egotistical jerks. And sometimes, they go out of their way to let you know it.

I had an experience about 3 weeks ago.

What happened: I was in the Lava Lounge in Ember Bay and another player had used his endless ignited wraith tonic and was standing there playing with his costume brawl skills. So I thought “hey cool” and used my endless ignited wraith tonic and moved over to use the merchant. I didn’t speak to anyone or even use the costume brawl skills. Immediately the player whispered me asking if I own all legendaries in the game. I told him I don’t own any and he accused me of trying to start an kitten contest with him.

I censored his name in the screenshot. The screen shows pretty much the entire conversation because I quickly put him on my ignore list because I knew exactly where the conversation was headed. I’ll be kitten ed if I’m gonna stand there and be cyberbullied in an online game just because I used a goofy tonic I worked hard to get. And quite honestly, I wish it was easier to get so more players could enjoy such an item. I considered reporting for verbal abuse, but figured there was no need since I blocked him before things got out of hand.

I can’t stand people with this kind of “only I can have it” attitude. To be fair though, not all players who value exclusivity and prestige are egotistical jerks. Only a small minority of them are.

I did not mean to imply it was otherwise. At the same time, I am concerned that Anet apparently shares at least a significant portion of that mindset, as demonstrated by the insane amount of mats for even the simplest stuff (and there isnt even much of that, and what there is seems to be the same 5 items and stats recycled endlessly with no imagination). The endless nerfing is also driving me away.

Sad to say, I think one of the most fun things recently (and which was very relaxing and doable) was the cats quest to add them to your home instance :/

Only the first part of my post, where I said it’s true most players don’t care, was directed toward you. The rest of my post was directed toward the person you quoted, who said it’s a good thing because it makes AP more elite and prestigious.

6 achievements are already auto completed from last year too, so unless it’s a bug, can’t earn those again this year either.

The achievements that returned already completed are the ones giving the 10,000 karma items for the Winter’s Presence collection. We’re not just shorted on AP, but on karma as well.

The patch notes says: Achievements for the Winter’s Presence collection have returned with saved progress from Wintersday 2015.

You’re not shortened on karma. The thing is, you had to consume 10,000 holiday drinks/consumable tonics to complete the achievement to get the masterful toast item that gives you a chunk of karma when consumed.

They couldn’t reset the achievement, otherwise players who had it partially completed and players who hadn’t finished their winter’s presence shoulder skin (but did complete this achievement), would have to start all over with the 10k drinks. And if they reset all achievements so players could get the AP again, a lot of people who had their winter’s presence shoulder skin unfinished would be forced to start the whole thing over. It would make people rather unhappy to lose that progress, especially since I did the winter wonderland JP over 1,000 times to farm gifts for those drinks. (I’d hate to have to go through all that again.)

Besides……….the masterful toast item from the Wintersday achievement gives only 10k karma. I have the tier 1 karma buff in Ember Bay and can get 10k karma in a matter of minutes from just killing random monsters in the map. For the masterful toast item, you’d need to do the jumping puzzle or other holiday activity until your eyes bleed and your hands fall off, or pay tons of gold to get the drinks from the trading post. It really isn’t worth it to have to do this achievement all over again.

The bottom line is: nobody is cheated out of achievement points. It would have no impact on players who didn’t get the achievements last year, and it would royally screw over players who did, especially those still working on the shoulder skin achievement that they started on last year.

BL chest: Braham's outfit

A couple days ago I opened a black lion chest and it gave me Braham’s Woolfblood Outfit. The thing is, I already owned it since I purchased it from the gem shop. To my understanding I should have received a couple keys as compensation if it tries to give me something like that that I already owned.

Do note: I did contact customer support and they did mail me the 2 keys that I was suppose to get.

The bug here is the keys weren’t granted automatically when the chest tried to award me a bound-when-acquired wardrobe item I already owned

The other problem is, the black lion chest preview window still shows the outfit as a possible item. Which means, if I open more chests there’s a chance the game will bug out again and give me the outfit again. IMO, wardrobe unlocks in black lion chests that are bound when you acquire them should be automatically removed as possible rewards, to avoid bugs like this.

Hello,

We had tested the Braham Outfit/BLC flow that you mention before release and did not have that issue. Additionally, a team member had done the same behavior with the release that you mentioned (bought outfit from gem store, received as a BLC reward) and she received the keys as we’d expect. Is there anything else that was going on at that time that stood out to you, or any additional details. At this point we have been unable to reproduce that issue and are unable to provide a resolution until the issue can be found.

The Black Lion Chest Preview is intended to show what is available in the chest. It doesn’t update for your personal account, so I would expect for you to still be able to see the outfit. As mentioned above, the key replacement should apply if you receive the outfit from the chest again and you may have had a separate thing happen when you first experienced an issue.

Thank you for taking the time to write-in. If you have additional details, please do let us know.

Thank you,
Sarah

Ticket #2460867

December 4th or 5th (customer support responded and mailed the keys on December 6th)
Character name: Pro Rage Quitter

I completed map complete of Kessex Hills and part of the reward was a black lion chest key. I had a single chest in my inventory and opened it. That’s when I got the outfit that I had already purchased from the gem shop.

I was in the water when I opened the chest. I don’t recall if the last point of interest was in the water or if I just happened to run into the water for some reason and decided to open my chest right there. I might have just got out of combat mode or was still in it when I opened the chest. I don’t recall.

I kept the outfit in that character’s inventory, but deleted it when customer support mailed me the keys.

I’m assuming customer support had checked my account activity first to see if I did get the outfit from a black lion chest as I claimed, instead of just taking my word for it and mailing me the keys.

I’m not against anyones daily arguments, but in my opinion if that is literally the only thing keeping you playing the game there is a problem and mayhaps you should move on to something that you can enjoy more than just 1 tiny aspect of.

There are unique skins from AP rewards that you can collect the full set. That tells everyone you have a crap ton AP.

Have you tried collections?

Yes! I came back to this thread because I just realized that the achievement system is their loyalty reward system. The OP clearly stated he/she wants to be rewarded for his/her “loyalty”.

Well, there you go. The more you play the game to achieve certain goals, the more AP you get. There are exclusive weapon and armor skins as well as various permanent account-wide bonuses that you can only get from playing the game and earning achievement points. And at certain AP milestones you can even get 400 gems for free as a reward.

I don’t think we need some kind of loyalty program just for logging in and doing your 3 dailies. It just seems kinda lazy. Besides, those 10 achievement points you can earn each day (at least until you hit the 15k daily/monthly cap) contributes towards the “loyalty” awards system.

Its been talked about before.

I always logged in everyday to get 10 achievement points from daily.

I wanted something to show I was getting something. It showed progress. Believe me that can be a powerful thing to keep playing.

Now I get 2 gold. OMG, now I can add it to my 5,000 gold I already have.

Believe me, I understand all the arguments, pro and con.

All I can say for sure, I’m playing less and may move on to some other game.

I’m sure some will say….good riddance to you. The thing is, I’m not alone.

Give us something besides gold that shows us we are loyal.

I get the impression there’s a sense of entitlement with this. Sounds like the OP is saying he/she wants an actual item they can show off to other players to prove how “loyal” he/she is to the game, while assuming having thousands of gold and logging in every day is proof of his/her loyalty.

I fail to see how others in this thread are so confused. The OP was pretty clear: “I gots lots o’ gold and log in every day so I’m entitled to a cool item I cans shove in people’s faces”.

Personally I’m happy with the 2g and 10AP each day. Heck, some days I just don’t feel like completing 3 achievements because there is only 1 or 2 I feel like doing some days. I don’t need anything special to show off to others. I play to enjoy the game and have fun with the community doing events and stuff. Not to stroke my ego.

P.S. Good riddance if you feel that strongly about it. In fact, it means you’re less loyal than you lead us to believe.

LS3: story journal master achieve

The story journal for LS 3 episodes doesn’t indicate that you received the master achievement reward.

For LS 3, episode 1 ‘Out of the Shadows’, I had complete every single possible achievement, including the hidden ’Don’t cross the Streams’ achievement. But the story journal doesn’t have it marked that I completed it. The ‘Master Achievement Reward’ icons are grayed out, as if I didn’t earn all of the achievements or earn the Bloodstone Crown helmet.

Same thing with the ‘Rising Flames’ episode. I completed the meta achievement just the other day (though I haven’t earned all possible achievements yet) and received the Dragonscale Epaulettes Box, but the story journal doesn’t reflect this.

Someone in my guild said it’s the same thing for episode 3, ‘A Crack in the Ice’ (I haven’t completed the meta achievement for this yet).

Also you may want to check the Heart of Thorns episodes in the story journal. I haven’t completed the meta achievements on any of the 4 episodes there, but it might be the same situation.

is it possible to redistribute skill points?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

No way to redistribute your hero points. But as others have said, you get exactly enough points by the time you’re level 80 to unlock all your skills and core specializations.

If you have the Heart of Thorns expansion, you get access to an elite specialization at level 80. But, you have to unlock all of the core specs first before you can start putting points into your elite spec. So at level 80 you’ll have to run around and do hero challenges throughout the game to unlock it.

The thing is there’s way more hero points you can get than what is needed for your elite. My Ranger has the Druid elite spec fully unlocked and I’m sitting on over 200 hero points that I literally can’t do anything with since I’ve unlocked everything.

Originally when HoT launched we had to get every single hero point in the game to fully unlock our elite spec. They reduced the amount of points needed and we wound up with a ton of extra points. However, if they come out with a new elite specialization in the future, I’ll have a big head start on it for my Ranger at least. So keep that in mind.

Edit: Hero points and character bound, so if you want to unlock your elite spec for more than 1 character, you’re gonna have to do hero challenges around the game on each one you want the elite spec for.

Endless Kodan Tonic issues

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Other issues:
No dodge roll animations. My character will just quickly jog in the direction I dodge.

The tonic will end temporarily under certain circumstances. Such as: my ranger’s Enlargement trait activating when my health gets low. My character will revert back to Kodan form when the enlargement buff ends.

Getting knocked back and knocked down will end the transformation, but revert back to Kodan form when my character is back on her feet.

However, the tonic will completely end on occasion, usually if I’m knocked down for a long period of time (about 10 seconds or so) and my stun breaker is on cooldown. I won’t revert back to Kodan form once I’m back on my feet.

Getting knocked back multiple times in rapid succession (like 2 or more times in less than 5 seconds) seems to cause the tonic to completely end.

Getting downed will end the tonic.

And there are times it seems to randomly end on its own after I’m no longer in combat.

The description for the tonic doesn’t state how long the duration is. It seems to last about 30 minutes, though I’ve never actually timed it and that’s if it doesn’t randomly end on its own.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Endless_Kodan_Tonic

Just noticed the wiki says that like all Kodan, the weapons don’t stow except when gathering. So I’m not sure of that’s a bug or not.

I never use mine. I got it during the Festival of the Four Winds back in 2014. Back then people asked for the tonic to last longer and for the cooldown to be removed, but so far they haven’t done it. So it’s rather pointless.

Lasts only 5 minutes and has a 30 minute cooldown.

It stings even more for people who may want to buy it from the laurel merchant for 25 laurels+15 gold. Not worth it at this point. It sucks because it’s a really cool tonic.

Update on the Economy

250 Cured Hardened Leather Squares needed for Nightfury. I have most now, but it’s cost me a whole lot of gold to buy what I’ve gotten so far (over 200g spent, and still need more leather).

kitten things are close to 1 gold each now.

250 Mystic Coins also needed for Nightfury, and I barely have any (19 at this time). But the devs have already stated they’re happy with where those are at right now, even though people have been complaining about the lack of sources for them.

With their current “hands-off” approach to the economy, things are getting worse and will continue to get worse. How long will they let this continue? Is their hope that people who are “hoarding” lots of materials will finally dump their supply on the trading post? Because it seems like the supply on various things are going down, and prices up, without much new supply being traded.

I really hope ArenaNet has a plan to balance things out or something. I’ll just do what I can for now.

Oh well.. I guess leveling your crafting skill wasn’t that important anyways…

I believe one of the Halloween items needs 3 stacks of it to make, so that might be why, also you could just but armor and salvage it.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Essence_of_Halloween from the candy corn vendor. Toss it and 3 stacks of cured thick leather squares into the mystic forge to create a mystic chest.

The chest drops items that are used to create infinite use scrolls to teleport you to the various racial cities.

Although, the OP was referring to hardened leather sections, not cured thick leather squares.

Edit: Oh! You need a total of 750 hardened leather sections (250 hardened leather squares) for crafting the Nighfury shoulder armor. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Nightfury_Skin#Full_material_list This could be the reason for the price going up in the trading post.

Winter's Presence: Bug, or user error?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

I got the Winter’s Presence during last Wintersday. You do in fact need to consume the ‘Masterful Toast’ item for it to count for the collection achievement. If you use it and don’t get credit you can always contact customer support as it may be a bug that needs fixing.

Generally it goes like this:

Achievements that require specific pieces of armor/weapons/trinkets that are bound to account or character when you acquire them: you only need to obtain the item for it to give credit.

Achievements that require weapons/armor/trinkets that are tradeable and not bound until equipped: you will need to equip the item to bind it in order to get credit, meaning you can’t resell the item afterwards.

All achievements that require consumable items: you need to actually use the items to get credit. Simply owning the item isn’t enough.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_updates/2016-11-01#Improvements

Every chest contains a guaranteed seasonal item that will change regularly.
Every chest contains a convenience item.
Every chest contains an item that will progress your account in some way.

They’ve completely undone everything with ticket scrap drops. On at least 1 or more occasions in the past they’ve increased the drop rate of ticket scraps in black lion chests because players complained it was too hard to get the black lion weapon skins.

This is the reason why people here are saying the drop rate was reduced by quite a lot. A single ticket scrap takes up 1 of the 3 item slots in the chest, meaning, before this update you could get up to 3 ticket scraps from 1 black lion chest.

But, now the slots are specifically set to give you specific items. 1 slot is for a seasonal item (ToT bags right now), 1 slot for convenience item, and 1 slot for an advancement item (such as a tome of knowledge).

I’m not sure what type ticket scraps (convenience or advancement), but it takes up 1 slot in the chest while the other 2 are reserved for other categories. This means that no matter how many chests you open, you’ll only get 1 black lion claim ticket at most from any single chest, thus decreasing the drop rate by quite a lot. The same is true for anything else, where we had up to 3 chances per chest to get an item, now we just have 1.

I don’t like the idea of being guaranteed to get specific types of items because overall it reduces your chances of getting anything good.

Twice as many. Thus, 20 Candy Corn per day, rather than 10.

Not exactly. There is no guarantee on how many pieces you get from either node.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Greater_Gift_of_Candy_Corn

This upgrade doubles the output of the candy corn node, giving an additional 6-12 Pieces of Candy Corn per day.

The regular candy corn node gives 6-12 pieces and the upgraded node doubles that. It’s random each day how many pieces you get. The minimum is 12 pieces and the max is 24 when you have the node and upgraded it.

The Devs did purge the Trading Post. (In fact, more than once.) They announced it when it happened, and we saw the result. Some things weren’t affected.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Old-Invalid-TP-Order-Clean-up/first#post6058327

Can you show screenshots taken after the purge showing those items were included in the purge, and now have orders below vendor price?

Ahh…….I thought I remembered dev posts on the forums saying they went through and cleaned it up.

In my previous post^ the screenshots were taken as I was writing that post.

But like I said: my memory and observational skills could be faulty. In other words I could be wrong about seeing new buy orders below the minimum price being placed on items the devs had already cleaned up.

Just look at the items I mentioned in my previous post and you’ll see for yourself that there are still at least a few items that have buy orders that are too low.

Edit: Ahhh…..the second link in your post…..2 posts down: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Old-Invalid-TP-Order-Clean-up/first#post6060094

The most recent clean-up is now complete!

That was the last dev post in the thread, and the few player posts that followed still claimed there were a lot of items in the TP that were listed below the minimum price. Most likely they just never got around to finishing the clean up.

Mini Gwynefyrdd

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

In 2015 it was available at a Halloween vendor for 110 candy corn cobs during the event. And it’s available again this year for 110 candy corn cobs.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mini_Gwynefyrdd

Note: the wiki only lists the candy corn vendor as being in the Grand Piazza https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Candy_Corn_Vendor

But, there is another next to the wagon behind Drooburt just north of the Mystic Forge that sells the same minis and other things the one in the Grand Piazza sells.

I can’t say for certain, but I was under the impression last year that when the mini was added to the Halloween vendor it was removed from the trick or treat bag loot table.

Last year players complained that 110 candy corn cobs was way too many for this mini, and this year they added a new mini https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mini_Oxidecimus_the_Shadow_Raven for 120 cobs. GG ArenaNet. Way to listen to feedback.

It wasn’t removed from the drop table, as I acquired mine from ToT bags last year.

If you know where to look, you can find that the Wiki stated that Gwynefyrdd was offered for 100 Cobs in 2015: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Candy_Corn_Vendor&oldid=1096413

You will notice all Minis increased in Cob price sans the Candy Corn Elemental. Probably due to the playerbase’s increased ability to acquire loot (by being stronger overall).

The Wiki will (hopefully) always show the current information for items/features/data.

Is there more than 1 Candy Corn Vendor? I think the Wiki page probably hasn’t been updated as to the Vendor’s location after the Lion’s Arch update. (I’ve left a note about the change in location.)

Yeah. I did say I wasn’t certain about it being removed from ToT bags. And I didn’t notice the note on the wiki page at first showing this mini was cheaper last year.

Also, https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Mini-Bloody-Prince-Thorn-Price-discrepancy/first#post6378976 it seems the Mini Bloody Prince Thorn costs 6 cobs at a couple vendors, but 10 cobs at another. He is available at Sonder the Seller year round and use to cost 3 cobs. So………yeah. They increased the prices on the minis.

Trading Post: dead item orders

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

I did notice a long time ago it appeared as though ArenaNet did go through it and cancel quite a lot of those buy orders below the allowed price. But over time I’ve noticed more and more items had new buy orders below the minimum price.

I can’t find any examples of where there are more underpriced listings. The only exceptions that I’ve seen are:

  • Leftovers from before the two changes to minimum pricing (first was vendor +1c, second was vendor/0.85 + 1c)
  • Items that changed vendor value (very few of these)

What examples have you seen? It would be great to make a list and send them to ANet — if there is a glitch allowing people to do that, I’m sure they’d want to fix it. (that’s easier than removing the actual listings)

For those unfamiliar with targeting specific bits of a database, here’s why it’s more difficult than it sounds.

  • It’s almost always easy to write a script to identify the listings that need to change — I can just about do it and I’m not a programmer. (Grab vendor values from the API, divide by 0.85, add 1 copper, and compare to existing listings. Make a list.)
  • It’s almost always easy to write a script to cancel those orders (take the above list, cancel the order).
  • What takes longer is the QA:
    • Testing that the list doesn’t include any false positives, weird edge cases, etc.
    • Testing that the script only removes the items on the list.
    • Testing that the script refunds the coin, as expected.
    • Testing that running the script doesn’t cause any other issues, including hurting TP performance or mucking up the queue that would show people the refunded coin.
  • In addition, there are other considerations, such as introducing a lot of coin back into the money supply, writing the appropriate blog to warn people about the impending change, etc.

tl;dr with a comprehensive script like this, it’s easy to make minor mistakes that have big consequences. So the risk is relatively high, while the benefit to the community is relatively low.

OK. I post some examples on crafting materials, and some screenshots.
It seems to be mainly the lowest tier materials that this happens to, as well as minor runes and sigils, i.e., the most common stuff that has way more supply than demand.

Vial of Weak Blood: vendor value is 3 copper, minimum buy/sell price is 5 copper
-Buy orders: 48,380 at 4 copper (1 copper below minimum price), 187 for 3 copper (2 copper below the minimum price

Bone Chip: vendor value is 4 copper, minimum buy/sell price is 6 copper
-Buy orders: 6,952 at 5 copper, 59 at 4 copper

Tiny Claw: vendor value of 3 copper, minimum buy/sell price is 5 copper
-Buy orders: 17,072 at 4 cooper, 33 at 3 copper

Pile of Glittering Dust: vendor value of 3, minimum buy/sell is 5. Although, there are a lot of buy orders for 5 copper up to 33 copper, there are still a lot of orders too low when scrolling down
-Buy orders: 14,157 at 4 copper, 2,689 at 3 copper

Sunstone Nugget: vendor value of 24, minimum buy/sell is 29.
-Buy orders: 30 at 26 copper, 529 at 25 copper, 205 at 24 copper

I’m not going to through the entire trading post to compile a complete list of every single item with buy orders that will never be filled.

It’s quite possible my memory and observational skills suck. It’s also possible the devs never really went through the trading post to clean up most of these orders. But there are a lot out there.

It was 100 cob in 2015. It is 110 cob in 2016 for the Mini Gwyn

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mini_Gwynefyrdd#Notes

Halloween 2015 & 2016 allowed players to purchase the miniature for 100 Candy Corn Cobs.

My first thought when when the event stared this year was that the price in cobs did go up. But the wiki is kinda wrong, saying that it can be purchased last year and this year for 100 cobs while clearly it costs 110 cobs this year.

But, this proves my point about them not listening to player feedback. As I said, last year people complained that 100 candy corn cobs was too much and this year they actually increased the price.

Just because people complained doesn’t mean the price is too high. Unless the price was 1 cob, people would be complaining.

Well, it isn’t a good idea to reduce the price since people who payed the high price last year would feel unfairly treated and entitled to some sort of candy corn cob refund of the difference.

The point I was making was that, last year people complained about the price being too high. But instead of leaving the price the same, they decided to increase it.

Ghostly outfit: male version for everyone?

OK………I noticed on my female Norn necromancer that while wearing the new Ghostly outfit, she becomes rather flat chested. Was this an intentional design or something?

Judging by screenshots on Dulfy’s site, it’s the same for female humans and sylvari. (female charr and asura usually get the male version of an outfit, and they’re flat chested anyway)

Cool outfit though. Sadly, the black smokey part on the head, and the white “eyes” can’t be dyed.

Edit: To clarify, I’m referring to viewing the character directly from the side. Instead of the chest protruding outward a little, it just winds up looking flat like you’d see on a male character. Instead of curves, you wind up with beefy pecs.

P.S. I think I have a good idea why we can’t dye the head. Zooming in and looking at the head closely, it’s actually a skull with a black flaming hairdo and illuminated eyes. I’m guessing the devs didn’t want a bunch of Ghostriders running around.

Cecil grew up in an orphanage, and was never adopted. Often times the other children made fun of him for the way he looked.

As an adult, Cecil became a traveling janitor, and was darn good at it.

One day, Cecil was in the Black Citadel and was hired to clean up the pub after a typical charr birthday celebration. He left town afterwards and wasn’t heard from again.
