Here is a suggestion, how about a glider skin that we can earn in game and not on the gem store.

We had one we could get in game for free, as long as you bought the mini angry wintersday gift in the gem shop. 400 gems for a mini and get a free glider was a great deal.

Mastery points, ugh [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

I have no problems with mastery points. I have every problem in the world with having to gain experience and meet some arbitrary requirement for the “right” to spend them. It’s either one or the other: Let the experience dictate without the mastery points or let the mastery points dictate without the experience bar.

To be honest, I’d rather have 1 mastery point awarded automatically each time the XP bar fills (like we had for skill points before they were converted into spirit shards).

Mastery points were suppose to encourage us to actually do a bunch of the old content. The problem is some of the old content I don’t care about, such as fractals. There is 1 mastery point for Tyria I’ll never ever be able to get http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Hero_%28achievements%29#achievement4 For completing the story mode for 8 dungeons. Dungeons are dead, and ArenaNet has flat out admitted here on the forums that they don’t want us doing them anymore (hence why they nerfed the rewards) and want us to do fractals instead.

Then there are some mastery points for content I would love to get, but the content is way to difficult to do alone. Living story season 2; episode 2 through the last 1. I was able to get all achievements for episode 1 on my own some time before HoT launched, but got stuck in episode 2. Looking around on the wiki for some achievements it flat out says it’s better to do it with a group of players, or at least 1 other player. Which sucks because it’s content designed to be soloed but the achievements require you to get help. The other problem is the living story season 2 achievements are also required to get the luminescent armor skins, which is something I’ve been wanting for a long time.

Other content I would like to do but is too difficult nobody wants to do it: the Triple Trouble world boss event. You get 1 mastery point for each of the 3 wurm heads you defeat (it would probably take you 3 completions to get them all). Another mastery point for decapitating the great jungle wurm and then defeating each of the 3 heads in 1 play of the event. The problem: I only ever tried this event twice, and recently. Both times there weren’t enough players at a single wurm head to defeat any of them (I also have no idea how to decapitate the wurm). I tried a different wurm head each time. There seemed to always be at least 4 champion level enemies around the wurms at all times. Basically this is an event that requires a ton of players and nobody seems to want to do it.

And 1 mastery point is locked behind an achievement that is incredibly expensive http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fashion#achievement1 Requires you to soulbind (actually just purchase) 90 unique pieces of cultural armor. The cheapest way is to buy T1 cultural armor for all 3 weights for all 5 races. A full set of 1 weight costs 20 gold. So you’re looking at a total of 300 gold minimum…….for 1…..single…..mastery point. (you could just buy all the armor for a single race on a single character if you wanted)

Some other examples of expensive and/or time consuming mastery points to get:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ambrite_Weapon_Collection Requires at least a T4 Dry Top to purchase the recipes, on top of farming events to get geodes to purchase them, and only have a window of 20 minutes at a time for sandstorms to find maybe 5-7 buried chests to get the unidentified fossilized insects.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_Accoutrement Craft all 3 sets of ascended armor (1 for each weight).
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_armor#Crafting

Note that all three sets contain ingredients that can only be crafted once per day as these are time-gated refinement recipes. This means that crafting a complete ascended armor set will take a minimum of 24 days, unless the crafting components are purchased from the Trading Post.

So you spend less gold and wait 24 days, per armor set, or spend hundreds and hundreds of gold to buy the time gated materials on the trading post. All that for…..1…..SINGLE…….MASTERY POINT!

I can buy more storage expanders?

Just logged in to check and i can confirm that you can buy a total of 7 now.

Thanks for the effort. It confirms the gem shop indicates the cap was increased, but I’m hoping ArenaNet could answer this for me, or at least another player who has purchased it at least 6 times to confirm that the cap was indeed increased.

If it is true, confirmation would let others know they can now buy more slots (for all that rotten bloodstone dust LOL).

Edit: Oh yeah! All that stinking elder wood logs too. I didn’t have any crafting professions leveled up enough to refine elder wood logs into planks until recently. So for a while my material storage was full of logs and I wound up selling any extras in the trading post.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Storage_Expander

It still says the storage expander in the gem shop can only be purchased a total of 5 times, increasing the stack size to a max of 1,500 in the crafting material storage in the account bank. A long while back I managed to purchase the max, but now the gem shop is saying I can purchase it 2 more times, which would increase the stack size to 2,000.

Was this a secret update? I don’t recall any mention of it, or seeing anything in any recent patch notes. I would like to know if this is intentional or a bug. I’ve been wanting to buy more storage expander slots, but don’t want to take a chance it would be like the account bank tabs*.

*I’ve seen people complain on the forums in the past that even after purchasing the max amount of account bank slots the gem shop still indicated they could purchase more. Some players wound up having to request refunds since their purchases didn’t give them what they payed for due to already having reached the limit.

I’ve included a screenshot as evidence. You can see the gem shop says I can buy it 2 more times (bottom of the gem shop window) and you can see, quite obviously, I have 1,500 bloodstone dust in the bank (LOL who doesn’t have that much?). I have like, 10 more stacks of that junk in my account bank due to material storage being full. It would be nice to add 2 more stacks to the material storage, but I don’t want to risk buying something and not getting it then having to contact support to be refunded.

TP bots?

too long, I won’t quote it

I know that bots exist. However I doubt that this one is 100% undetectable. Anet can simply buy this bot, study it and ban all those players who use it.

And 99% of these programs/softwares/cracks/bots are scam or malware. You cannot trust anything nowadays.

Perhaps. It would be nice if ArenaNet would at least look into the matter.

TP bots?

Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque please read my whole post again, especially the edited part, I made the following:

I placed an order for 1 padding, price was 53c.
There were 2 orders for 53c, one of them was mine.
I sold 2 paddings for 53c.
I didn’t get a padding as expected.
The 2 orders for 53c were still there.
After I removed my order only 1 was there.

So the displayed number must be wrong.

Hmm…..

After looking around https://np.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/43u88p/trading_post_bug/

It seems the trading post was confirmed to be down for a while about 9 days ago and it was updated. So it’s possible this could be a bug brought on by the recent problems with the TP.

But……….how do you explain the bot in the video I linked doing exactly what we have described, that you believe is just a bug?

The video was uploaded in August 2015, but as I said, the most recent info I found on the software is that the program was still being updated and working as of the end of January 2016.

I think someone in this thread earlier mentioned that bot programs you have to pay real money for are all just a scam. But the thread for that program on that forum was created September 2015 and the created of the bot (and thread OP) was the one who posted at the end of January that it was still being up to date. So to me it appears this bot program is not a scam at all, and that it possibly still works today.

1/30/2016 by the person who created the bot:
It is still fully functional and being updated, so the video in the OP or on [redacted].com is still an accurate demonstration of how it works (except that number of additional features have been added since).

Edit: And based on the info, the bot can be set up to randomize what it does. It places a few orders to automatically outbid by 1 copper. If it did that all day it would be detected easier. Same goes for the quantity when buying/selling items.

If you read the OP, my post on page 1, and others who posted they’ve witnessed similar TP behavior, then watch the video I finally posted, it isn’t hard to figure out that something seriously strange is going on.

TP bots?

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

I’ve got screenshot evidence!

Today I went to sell 2 Gossemer Gloves Panels instantly. Only 1 of them sold and immediately a new order for 1 popped up at the same price. Immediately after selling the second glove panel another buy order for 1 popped up at the same price!

This is not “playing the market”, and is way too coincidental, going by my experience earlier with another item I mentioned here, as well as others having similar experiences when buying/selling items in the trading post. Something is seriously wrong.

Give me 1 good reason why a buy/sell order for a single item with a specific low quantity ordered would keep immediately popping up as you’re buying/selling them? It just doesn’t make any sense to me other than the possibility that someone is using some sort of bot program to automate their TP transactions.

In the first screenshot you can see I sold 2 Gossemer Gloves Panels, but only 1 at a time for 6 silver 19 copper. In the second screenshot you can see there is a buy order for 1 Gossemer Gloves Panel at that same price. If I had more gloves panels to sell, I’m sure I’d be selling them 1 at a time for that price until I sold a few, before the rest are sold to the next highest buy order.

Edit: It is a bot program somebody is using to make sure their buy/sell orders are always outbidding/undercutting by 1 copper so they are the highest/lowest and their bids can go through.

Gossemer Gloves Padding: same exact thing. A buy order for 1 at 53 copper. I had 1 to sell and after selling it another buy order for 1 at 53 copper was up, and I could see it pop up when the buy/sell window said ‘Success!’ before I even closed this window..

A jet pack based on Asuran technology with flames coming out the exhaust ports. Would also work great as a back skin item.

For Charr: a glider made out of woven fur

For Sylvari: a glider made out of 2 giant leaves

For Norn: a glider made out of snowfla…..oh wait. Uhhhh……a dolyak hide glider? Or maybe something cold themed

For Humans: a Grenth glider…….that randomly turns itself off and can’t be redeployed until you hit the ground.

Suggestion: map completion reset

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

I dont understand the aggro towards my suggestion, its not like it would be compulsary to reset your characters map completion progress it would just then be an option.

I was more thinking of the HoT legendaries because of how you only get 1 gift per character and sort of bundled the original ones into the same discussion because it seems like if it was done for the one thing it would be simple enough to do it for both

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gift_of_Exploration You get 2 per character for map completion.

Let’s see: 5 character slots is standard for a single account. You get 2 gifts of exploration per character. Only 1 gift of exploration is needed to craft a legendary. Without any extra character slots, that’s a potential for 10 legendaries on a single account.

Like I said, if you made that many legendaries already, you should be able to afford to trade some gold for gems. I highly doubt anybody with that many legendaries on a single account are dirt poor.

HoT map completion items once per char?

ArenaNet told us ahead of time that you can only craft 1 of each precursor per account. After that you have to get legendaries the old fashion way, such as tossing various items into the mystic forge in hopes of getting a precursor, or relying on random chance of a precursor dropping as loot.

Suggestion: map completion reset

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

All hero points should be removed and the fog of war should be re-added. It should be exactly like if you were on a new character that just hit level 80 by using tomes.

Leveling up gets you hero points though. By the time you’re level 80, whether you used tomes of knowledge or not, you would have exactly enough hero points to unlock all specializations/traits except the elite one. If hero points are completely removed you’d be left with a level 80 character that has access to no traits/specializations at all.

Exactly like a new character who used tomes of knowledge only means you’d have your elite specialization taken away.

@OP
I don’t think people would want to lose all their hard earned progress that took a lot of time and effort to accomplish, just so they can get another legendary.

Let’s take a look at your situation:
The default amount of character slots is 5. If your account existed before January 2015 and you pre-purchased the HoT expansion, you would have received a free character slot. And you didn’t say how many extra character slots, if any, you purchased.

So you’re telling us you crafted at least 5 legendaries already?

Stop being a cheapskate and trying to ruin the game for the rest of us. Character slots aren’t that expensive in the gem shop. If you’ve created so many legendaries already, I’m pretty sure you have more than enough gold to trade for gems. What difference would it make if you use the same character or a completely new one for map completion?

And if you can’t buy any more character slots because you’ve reached the limit……then something is seriously wrong if you’ve made THAT many legendaries. Since HoT launched the max amount of character slots you can have on a single account is 70.

However, I would like to offer an alternative method to getting the gift of exploration needed for legendaries: make a crafting recipe for weaponsmith or something and add it to the mystic forge vendor or laurel merchant. Getting 100% map completion is a very time consuming task and so are legendaries (though I’ve never even tried to get them). It’s a real pain for people needing to spend all that time exploring core Tyria on characters they really don’t care to get map completion on. Costs of the recipe for gift of exploration would need to be a bit pricey of course, since legendaries are suppose to be hard to come by (well, except the OP seems to have plenty on hand). Edit: And crafting material inputs for the recipe would need to be really high and you should be able to craft 2 gifts at a time (since you get 2 from map completion).

You’d end up with a choice: spend a lot of time to get 2 gifts of exploration from map completion, or spend a ton of gold to craft them yourself.

More options are better. Taking stuff away from people is not.

Besides, I don’t think it would even be technically possible for ArenaNet to reset map completion for any character without breaking something horribly.

TP bots?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

We can actually create our own API keys for our accounts. After logging into guildwars2.com, just go to My Account and click Applications. Then click the New Key button here. There is a check box for Trading Post.

I guess I’ll go ahead and mention it. I actually did find there is a trading post bot out there that automates trading post flipping. The bot uses player generated API keys for their accounts. It’s one of those types of bots that has no free trial (athough you can purchase a trial that lasts about a week) and you have to pay real money for it.

Things copy/pasted from their FAQ:

Is the TP bot detectable / will I get banned?

The bot does not interact with GW2 on a low level, there is no memory injection or anything of the sort. The only direct interaction is through mouse input. The bot also relies on the GW2 API to obtain information about your TP listings. Even though there is no evidence of API calls being monitored or causing bans (given that you can publicly give these out, you should not be at fault for someone else using them), reducing the number of calls made by the bot to avoid suspicion was still top priority during development (compared to the first beta version API calls are now down by over 60%). To avoid potentially too regular behaviour on the TP, waiting times of the bot are all randomised as well.

“Waiting times” being randomized could explain why after I sold so many sets of 4 elder wood logs at a time the buy orders suddenly stopped. Same thing for the OP of this thread with what he/she was buying. They buy/sell a bit here and there to avoid detection.

How many GW2 accounts can I use with the bot?

You can use the bot on one character of one account at a time. You can, however, change the API key (defining your account) and character you wish to use in your user settings on the website as many times as you wish.

Can the bot run in the background?

No, unfortunately. Since the TP’s internet communication has been encrypted in the TP interface update last year, the only way to place or remove orders and listings is direct interaction with the game, which requires use of the mouse.

The bot’s resource requirements are very low, however, so it is well suited to be ran in a virtual machine. This option allows it to run in the background, of course.

So basically it uses player generated API keys for their accounts and automates mouse movements to make it appear as though someone is sitting there all day randomly buying/selling stuff on the trading post.

The reason I brought this up is because API keys are being discussed.

How I came across the info: it was posted on that same website that had the Winter Wonderland jumping puzzle bots. There was a post there on Jan. 30, 2016 that said the trading post bot is still being updated. A quick Google search found the official website for the bot.

Of course I had already emailed ArenaNet with links and info about it a little while ago.

Updates about Wintersday

Charrbeque.8729

So why Is the achievement disabled?

From first post: We will be leaving the Festive Imbiber achievement active throughout the year.

When will it be fixed to allow this to happen – I have some questions:
1) I have drunk drinks that are wintersday drinks – will they be counted whilst the achievement is disabled?

Cup of Spiced Apple Cider
Glass of Buttered Spirits
Mug of Eggnog
Snowman Tonic
Reindeer Tonic
Festive Golem Tonic

These are the only items that count for the Festive Imbiber achievement. If they aren’t progressing your achievement then file a bug report, and point out to them the first post in this thread clearly stated this achievement would remain active all year.

If the achievement is disabled and you’re not getting credit for the drinks you consume, you probably won’t get automatic credit for what you consumed if they ever fix it. You could contact customer support and ask if it’s possibl for them to see how many of the qualifying drinks you consumed that didn’t progress the achieve and if they can manually give you credit. That’s about the best advice I can give.

TP bots?

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

Something is strange for sure.

Yesterday I went to sell about 69 elder wood logs and wound up selling half of them 4 at a time.

The sell instant price was only 1 copper less than the lowest sell order. But what happened was only 4 logs sold. I figured it was just the last of a buy order and expected to sell the rest of the logs at the next lowest price which had an order for hundreds of logs. However, it sold another 4 logs at that same exact price as the first 4 logs. This happened a few times for around 28 logs or so before that price was finally gone and I could sell the rest all at once to the next price price at 1 copper lower.

Basically, as soon as I sold 4 logs, another buy order at that price for another 4 logs was posted, instantly after selling. Over and over again.

Theory: what TP bots do is buy/sell low quantities of a single item at a time and not too much all at once in order to avoid detection. So once you buy/sell an item a new listing is immediately put up for the same price. Basically, it may have been set to buy elder wood 4 at a time until it reached a certain quantity purchased, then the bot stopped buying for a while. Just a guess.

It really is quite annoying when trying to instantly sell a whole stack of items only to keep being forced to sell just a few at a time. It took me a couple minutes just to sell my wood.

No gliding in home instance?

Home instances are instanced.

Home instances are used in the personal story.

I believe a dev had said the reason why they won’t be putting gliding into non-HoT instances is because there are spots on the ground that trigger missions/events. When working on your personal story you might glide right over a spot you need to walk on and get confused as to why the mission hasn’t updated. HoT instances for personal story were made with gliding in mind because they take place right in the HoT maps.

That’s the thing though. Any site that sells it for a lot less than the standard $49.99 for the basic HoT edition is probably not allowed to sell it and you risk buying an invalid serial key. You may get lucky and find it for cheaper through an authorized retailer.

When HoT launched some players had their accounts suspended because they purchased the expansion for cheap (some around $10) and it turned out they bought from non-legitimate sources and the serial keys weren’t valid.

In other words, if the price is too good to be true, you should probably not buy it.

I have two accounts, but i’m downsizing to just one. The problem I’m having is the certain name of one of my characters on my less active account won’t free itself. I’ve been waiting almost two days now, and nobody else has taken it, yet when i try to re-make it on my main account it says it is taken. Even though I’ve deleted the character. Is there a certain time period for these things, or is this a bug?

Do you have a GW1 account linked to that GW2 account?

Character names in GW1 were permanently reserved for GW2 so if you link your accounts you can use your GW1 name in GW2 without having to worry about someone else taking if.

If that’s the case then the only thing you can do is delete your GW1 character with the name you want to free, and wait about a day before you can use it.

If that’s not the case then you’ll need to file a support ticket.

This is inaccurate; GW1 names were all released about 4 months after launch of GW2. Thus, no need to delete any GW1 characters.

What I meant is if the GW1 character still exists the name is permanently “taken”. The only way to use that name for GW2 would be to have the account linked to that specific GW1 account. This is something ArenaNet stated during GW2 development.

Granted I didn’t start playing GW2 until May 2014, quite some time after launch. So you could be right about names no longer being permanently “taken” if GW1 characters with them still exist. However, I would like to point out that at least 3 of my GW2 characters are using the same names as my GW1 characters. Either that’s because the names actually are reserved for my account, or nobody ever thought to use them.

This is why I suggested that if the OP has a GW1 character with a specific name he/she wants to use in a GW2 account not linked to that specific GW1 account, they would need to delete the GW1 character. However, I just had a thought: instead of deleting the GW1 character the player would buy a name change contract from the GW1 store to free up the name. It should be freed up in about 24 hours.

But from the sounds of things, the OP’s best bet is to just wait on what customer support has to say.

Actually no. As Inculpatus said, they released the gw1 names shortly after launch.

Reserve your gw character name by July 31st
However, as we mentioned in a previous blog post, your Guild Wars character names will not be reserved indefinitely. You must create a Guild Wars 2 character with the same name as your Guild Wars character during the Headstart Access period or on launch day. Shortly after launch, we’ll free up all the unclaimed names for new Guild Wars 2 players to use.

Thanks for finding that info. But….

We’re building our Guild Wars 2 name reservation list on July 31. We’re only reserving character names from active Guild Wars accounts, which is why you’ll need to log in at least once before we build the list in order to be considered an active Guild Wars player.

In other words, as long as you logged into GW1 during the time period, which ended on July 31, your GW1 character names you had at that time were permanently reserved for GW2. Any GW1 accounts not logged in during that time period would have the character names freed up for GW2 so anybody can use them here.

As you pointed out, “Shortly after launch, we’ll free up all the unclaimed names for new Guild Wars 2 players to use.”

I remember this announcement now. I did log in during that time period to make sure my character names were reserved (claimed) for GW2.

One of my char names in Guild Wars 1 that I didn’t use is now taken by someone else.

Oh. LoL. Guess I got lucky then with my GW1 character names not being taken for GW2.

"Taken" names

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Charrbeque.8729

Here is a solution:

Give us a feature in the chat window to “Show account names” of other players. The option would be off by default so players who don’t want to see all the extra text in the chat window won’t have to.

Then, remove the character name restriction completely. Our account names would be the unique identifier. If you see multiple players in the chat with the same exact character name it could get a little confusing, but having account names displayed in the chat would help with that.

This would eliminate the problem with “taken” names completely. Some people have issues where they delete a character in order to free up the name but after waiting over 24 hours the name is either already taken by someone else, or the name is still not freed up but they can create a character with that name on that same account.

Let’s face it: the only reason why people are complaining lately and asking for character names to be freed up from accounts that haven’t been logged into for a while, is because people aren’t original in the first place. They can’t come up with something new that nobody else ever thought of.

And when a character name is popular, players resort to putting in X’s and/or other random letters into their names because what they want is already taken.

I’d rather see a hundred ‘Naruto’ running around than some stupid crap like ‘Xx Naruto Xx’ or ‘III Naruto III’. Because it looks stupid when people do that.

So what difference would it make? Obviously with popular names players aren’t being original in the first place. So it shouldn’t make a difference if a hundred, or even a thousand, players all have the same exact character name, because they will find “creative” ways to use a name they want and wind up looking ridiculous doing it.

What would you like to see in Season 3?

in Living World

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

To be serious, I would like to see achievements that aren’t so kitten ed difficult to get while playing solo.

A rework of season 2 achievements would also be appreciated. The content can be done solo, although it’s rather difficult at times, but some achievements pretty much require you to be teamed with at least 1 other player to get.

I managed to get all achievements for episode 1 of season 2 but gave up on episode 2.

Examples of where I got stuck on LS season 2 achievements:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Concordia_Incident#Achievements
Dropping like Flies achievement

This achievement is difficult to do solo, so you may wish to bring a friend to assist you. You will need to protect both the NPC outside and inside the Fort.

Tried it at least 20 times and every single time I lost at least 1 NPC.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Trouble_at_Fort_Salma#Achievements
Butterflies and Viscera achievement

You may want some help with this one. Due to the speed of the Bone Fiends spawning, and the foes tend to spawn close to when the Bone Fiends spawn. Doing this event solo you will not have much time to attack the boss. There is no determinable pattern to the Bone Fiends spawning. With two players you can have one defend the Bone Fiends and the other attack the boss.

Yeah, no. Not even gonna try it. You’ll wind up in an endless cycle of trying to keep all bone minions alive, never having time to attack the boss. If you do attack the boss you’ll probably lose at least 1 bone minion and your chance at the achievement.

The bottom line is, if we can do the episodes solo, we should be able to do the achievements solo. If I wanted to do content that actually required a team of other players, I’d get into fractals and/or dungeons.

Solo content should never make players feel like they’re forced to team up with others in order to complete it. That defeats the purpose of “solo” content entirely. If they want players to have to team up to accomplish the tasks then then should just make the content require a team of players and eliminate the solo aspects all together.

Edit: I did a Google search for that website and saw the phone number in the search results. I then did a Google search for that phone number and I got multiple results about it being a tech support scam/virus.

Check all web browsers you have installed, even ones you don’t use. Find the addons/plugins and look for anything you don’t recognize and uninstall it.

If using Windows, bring up control panel and go to Programs and Features and look for software you don’t recognize and uninstall it.

did you uncover anything about removing it? I’ve spent the past two hours digging through my C drive and noting looks out of place.

Well basically aside from checking browser plugins and programs and features to uninstall any suspicious programs, it’s complicated.

You would need to go into the Windows folder options to show hidden files and folders, then search your hard drive for the files. Also you would need to go into the Windows registry and search for and delete the malicious files.

The problem is you need to have at least some advanced computer knowledge (which isn’t something I have myself) and know exactly what type of files you’re looking for.

Basically the best option is using anti-malware software to scan your hard drive and remove the infected files. But since it seems anti-malware software isn’t detecting anything you might not have any malicious files on your computer.

Here is another option: go into the settings for each web browser and check your homepage settings. It could be one of those things where your browser homepage is reset so you constantly see the webpage popup. This has been a tactic for many, many years. If this is the case, simply resetting your homepage should fix the issue.

17 achievement points - GOLD SELLERS

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

Suggestion – Anytime "someone’ sends a whisper or announcement that has certain key words in it, like “So much gold for $” since most messages have a similar delivery, immediately after you get such a message, Anet sends a auto message as well warning that the message you just received could likely be from a suspect account.

This way, every honest player in the game, especially those who could be duped by said gold sellers, gets a warning message that pops up in their chat box directly below the message they received from the spam account.

This doesn’t ban anyone, it just gives every single person a heads up that what they just got is likely a spam message… and maybe even Anet’s message could add a link for you to fill out a form with the name of the person/bot who sent the message, the time day and so on… so Anet can research the issue more.

This way all those fake/spam accounts not only get tracked and banned but no one will take them up on their offers to begin with and with no way to succeed many will eventually stop trying.

And people would receive a warning about an innocent player. If a player sent a whisper to a friend asking if somesite.com is legit or they should stay away from it, their friend would get a warning making them think their friend’s account was compromised.

Automated systems never work. Another MMO I play tried auto-bans for anyone posting a gold seller website. Any account posting such a message in the chat, or sending mail to another player, would be automatically banned. What happened was players who were merely warning their friends and/or guild members got banned when they did nothing wrong. The devs looked into the matter and did in fact find some innocent players got caught up in the system.

The general consensus on how to get rid of gold sellers is basically for people to stop buying from them. As long as their business is profitable they’ll keep spamming.

I believe their original plan was to make gliding in central Tyria a separate unlock but changed their minds so if you have it already unlocked you can use it.

This means you need to have the Heart of Thorns expansion and unlock gliding in the Maguuma Jungle maps first. It also means if you have gliding already unlocked you’ll be able to fly all over the place once the update is released.

I suppose gliding mastery will be available to everyone? including core and f2p accounts? if not they are going to feel excluded, not being able to follow a commander to say one example. I can imagine already, if you cant fly, get out!

It will be based on the mastery system. If you have gliding mastery in maguuma, you’ll have it in Tyria.

ANet Sean Source
EDIT: Sorry about the misunderstanding. That line specifically is referring to the currently existing “Glider Basics” mastery, not a new one.

Next post:
Anet_Sean
Apologies, I mis-read your post. Earlier in development you needed to earn a new Mastery ability to glide in Central Tyria, but we changed that so that the Gliding masteries you already earned just work in Central Tyria by default. I thought you were referring to that, and not the blog post.

If they feel left out, they can always buy the expansion and get it. A business doesn’t hand out for free things that are the big attractions for an expansion.

Interesting info. So ArenaNet was actually doing the RIGHT thing first, then changed mind to force people to buy expansion. For me it’s really obvious, the core Tyria masteries was originally intended for everyone for free, the red icons versus green icons, etc.

I think he meant the original plan was you would still need HoT but have to unlock gliding for Tyria separately, probably through the mastery system. So they changed it where you only need to unlock gliding once. HoT being required to unlock gliding of any kind was always the requirement.

Not only was the expansion made before the original game, Guild Wars 3 was made before HoT and Guild Wars 2.

Dem Devs, they be sneaky.

Oh please, get your facts straight.

GW3 was planned before GW1 was conceived as an idea.

Duh

Ok. I researched it and I found out GW3 was planned out in 1958 and was completely made in 1962, which was a little hard as they did it on those pieces of paper that they punched holes in back then to make the computer code, but they did it all. After that the made HoT (still using those paper cards) and then later they made Guild Wars 2. And this was while they were in grades 1 to 6. After the Devs got out of grade school they started working on Guild Wars 1.

And now we know the whole story.

Guild Wars 3 was created in 1916 and would have cost $20 at the time. Adjusted for inflation it will cost…….$500 when finally released on it’s 100 year anniversary some time this year.

Also, Half Life 3 confirmed.

Guild Wars 3 was created in 1916??? I don’t know where you got that information. I found the original plans from 1958 on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard".
