[Suggestion] Laurels > Transmutation charges

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

It would be a viable option.

I wanted to point out if you go to the vault in the new Lion’s Arch (where all the black lion weapon skin merchants are), there is a Boost Enchantment Researcher in there that sells all types of boosters for coins (XP booster, WvW booster, Gathering booster, etc.). These are the very same boosters you can buy in the gem shop, except you can buy them for silver/gold. The merchant also sells that Boost Enchantment Powder as well as letting you convert boosters into other boosters for coins. I think the Black Lion Trader (Armorsmith) does this as well.

Since we can get gem store consumables (boosters) for coins from a merchant of some kind, I think it would be nice to do the same for transmutation charges.

Please add a consumables bar!!

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

I too would like a consumables bar.

Add a check box in the game options to always hide it so people who don’t want it don’t have to see it.

Make the bar function like a window allowing us to place it anywhere on the screen, instead of having it in a permanent fixed location.

Allow us to use consumables in our inventory by double/right clicking them whether the bar is hidden or not.

If possible, make the consumables bar have cooldown timers, like our skills, for the food and utility items we have equipped so we can see how much time we have left on an item before we have to use it again. Often times we go who-knows-how-long before realizing our food and/or utility item expired and we need to use another.

If possible add an equipment slot in hero window for a food and utility item that is linked to the consumables bar.

Mail carrier plays when I sell in the TP

Every time I sell an item in the trading post my mail carrier activates for each item sold. It seems to only happen when I sell stuff instantly. If I list items that sell later the carrier doesn’t activate.

I’ve also witnessed this happening to other players standing in front of a trading post NPC with 1 mail carrier after the other flying away from them.

It seems to be the send mail animation where the carrier flies away from players as if they are sending multiple mail to other players.

Not sure about buying HoT need advice first

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

1 — Only ANet knows. Pessimists say “one map” (clearly wrong), optimists say “several maps in one new zone, with more coming post-launch the way SW did.” As to new and exciting things, check the FAQ for the main new things.

2 — The larger packs don’t add functionality, they add a mini and a glider skin etc. Nothing you need to play the game. The largest pack includes a set of 1/2 price gems, so if you will spend 50 bucks on gems anyway in the future it’s a stellar deal.

3 — There will be content people without HoT cannot see. That’s how expansions work.

4 — You could wait 1 to 3 years and buy the next expansion and it will include this one as well as vanilla. But then you would miss all that game playing time and being part of the game’s evolution.

5 — No one knows for sure but the theory many have is that yes, guildies without the expansion can still see the guild hall but might not be able to use all its features.

6 — The base and middle packs can be bought for gems, so you could buy them a gem card (or buy one yourself and give them the code) so they could do the in-game purchase of the expansion. Or I think you could buy any tier of the expansion and just send the serial code to someone else to apply to their own old or new account.

7 — No bulk discounts that I know of.

1. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/ There have been various dev blogs over the last few months with detailed info here and there on what the expansion will contain. You just need to look through the pages to find it all. You can also go here and see what info has been released so far https://heartofthorns.guildwars2.com/en/#section-home

2. That’s true. The only extra thing the ultimate edition has that the deluxe doesn’t is $50 worth of gems for half price.

3. True. Some stuff won’t be available for players that don’t have the expansion.

4. True. They had made an official state that going forward any new expansions will contain all previous expansions and the core game completely free of charge as a bonus. You could use it to create a new account or upgrade an existing account.

5. I’m not to sure about this either and so far I haven’t seen an official response on it (it’s possible a dev mentioned it and I just didn’t see it). I too am curious to know if players without the expansion will be locked out from going to their guild hall as well as if there are any guild activities that will be locked out. It’s possible they will make a dev blog about it soon if they haven’t already.

6. Partially incorrect. Only the deluxe edition upgrade can be purchased with gems after adding the basic expansion to your account. The basic version has to be bought from http://buy.guildwars2.com/store/gw2/en_US/html/pbPage.heartofthorns?_ga=1.167951841.177988212.1434715322 Or you can access the shop through the gem store and purchase it there but you still need a credit/debit card to purchase it.

If you have the basic or deluxe edition there is no way to upgrade to the ultimate edition.

If you purchase it through the in-game store it will be automatically added to your own account (this is how I did it and I had no option to apply the code to my account since it was applied automatically). You would need to purchase it through the website. Since the code can be used to create a new account, feasibly you should be able to give it to a friend so they can make their own account.

You get 1 serial key for the HoT expansion. The key can be applied to an existing account to upgrade it or use it to create a new account. If you use it to create a new account you should have immediate access to the core game and will gain access to HoT when it officially releases.

$49.99 is the price of the expansion. The core game is included for free. So there is no cheaper version that doesn’t come with the core game. You’d pay the same price either way.

The OP did the right thing reporting the player for verbal abuse.

It has been clearly spelled out many times.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Just-want-to-clarify-a-ban/first#post2944417

Gaile Gray: The Name and Word filter is put in place and upheld by our community and our company as a means for players to try to protect themselves from offensive language. It’s existence, for those who do not observe our Rules of Conduct or our User Agreement, is not a line of defense to protect against administrative action taken on the account of the person who is in breach of these binding rules or agreements.

As I have said many hundreds of times on these forums, as the official position of ArenaNet: The Word and Name Filter is not a license to swear. Let’s put it this way: You may have guarantees that protect your freedom of speech as afforded by your national government. That guarantee does not give you the right to yell “fire” in a crowded theatre, or to verbally abuse a person in a public setting. In our game, the existence of a filter does not give you license to use offensive, racist, sexually explicit, or verbally abusive language in our game.
[snip]

And keep this in mind also

Gaile Gray: Anyone who has been around this forum for any amount of time knows that we have detailed game records, and we’re not going to accept bogus claims like, “I only said something one time!”

ArenaNet’s stance on failing events is this:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/About-that-blix-exploit/page/5#post4318436

Chris Cleary:

There are really two sides to this, and when it comes down to it, you are both right – and you are both wrong. Both sides have the right to complete the task that they set out to do (completing or not completing).

Challenging another player’s play style is the issue here, and since this revolved around an event that was designed to be completed, it is being changed so that the original design of the event can be carried out.

When something in the game (such as this event) changes negatively as this has, we need to step in and remediate the toxicity. The byproduct of this change happens to be that a champion farm is being slowed, but since that was the originating factor for the toxicity, it’s unavoidable.

I encourage players to remember that not everyone has the same goals when they play, and sometimes they will clash.

Basically, players have a right to fail an event and also a right to complete it. But some players go out of their way to complete events to screw over the farmers who are failing it (a form of trolling). Verbal abuse ends up happening and if things get out of hand ArenaNet will wind up nerfing the event because players can’t play nicely. It happened with the Blix farm and Coiled Watch. Both events wound up being nerfed because of the hostility between players who wanted to complete them and players who wanted to farm them by failing the events.

[Suggestion] 5 exotic luck into 2 leg. luck

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

But then you’d be converting 600 luck into a single 500 luck item. The way artificers convert luck is in a 1:1 ratio. For example: 5 blue quality essences of luck is worth 50 points and converts into a single green quality worth 50 points.

The point of artificers crafting luck to upgrade it is to gain the same amount of luck while reducing the amount of clicking needed to consume them. Instead of having to use 20 blue quality essences (20 double clicks) you can craft it up to a single 200 point that only takes 1 double click to use. And doing it this way means you aren’t losing any amount of luck when upgrading them to higher quality items.

In order for us to upgrade essences of luck to legendary status they would need to change the amount of luck legendary gives us to either 400 or 600 luck.

Living World Season 1 Restart.

in Living World

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

Yeah, it bothers me to the point where I will not buy HoT until season 1 is released. I play the game mostly for the story, and it’s kind of unplayable for me with so many plotholes and questions because I did not have the time to play most of season 1. Again, no wiki or youtube summaries please, playing them yourself is much more immersive and enjoyable.

If they don’t want this to impact the experience of new and returning players, this must be addressed as soon as possible since the expansion is coming out and it will become a greater mess.

To you sir, you have my sword. As a returning player who bought the game on day one, I feel they really dropped the ball on season 1.

You’re going to be waiting a rather long time then.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/lwd/Just-Completed-Personal-Story-WHAT/first#post5215101

This is exactly why LS1 should be unlock-able and purchasable like LS2.

I don’t disagree. We’ve stated before that we hope to one day rebuild LW Season 1, but we’re focused on HoT development right now.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/lwd/Just-Completed-Personal-Story-WHAT/first#post5240781

And to note: I’m not saying it’ll be easy to bring back Season 1 just because there were so many instances. The instances of Season 1 were done in multiple formats (4 different formats I believe), none of which are like Season 2/Personal Story, so it’s hard to say – especially as players – how much work would need to be done to change it from instance format A/B/C to instance format D.

It’s quite a bit of work, actually, to convert the Season 1 content into something that resembles the Season 2 format. So while we’re fortunate to have some pre-built content to start from we’d have to make a lot of changes for it to fit the revised LW model.

But all the assets are there. Dialogue, plot, voice acting, even the intended scripting. Arguably, it might just be a case of rescripting into a new format with some programming for said format. But as a player it’s hard to gauge how much work that ‘case of rescripting’ might be.

My hope is that, should we take the opportunity to bring back Season 1 in some form or fashion, that we’d get the opportunity to make improvements like we did with the Personal Story restoration (revised VO, maybe some new or updated camera flythroughs or cinematics, etc.). I want to be clear, though, that we have nothing to announce at this time. Just being totally honest and managing expectations here.

HoT will release before they even start on reworking living story season 1, if they even decide to do that. I don’t expect LS season 1 to be reworked and released until at least 2016. But by all means if you want to deprive yourself of new content because old content isn’t available, then do so. The rest of us will be enjoying our Revenants and hang gliding around the jungle.

Why isnt there Wardrobe o Matic

Charrbeque.8729

You get one guaranteed transmutation charge for every city you map.

If you want to farm for a bunch of Transmutation Charges for free, you can have one character slot dedicated to doing a city map, then once you’ve got your transmutation charge, you can delete that character and start again. Both Divinity’s Reach and The Grove are fairly quick cities to navigate.

As others have said, there’s also PvP, and the Daily Log-In rewards that give you transmutation charges too. Also for levelling characters, consider getting yourself an Outfit too, you can wear that until level 80 for the same look without using a single charge.

Yeah. Each racial city has an asura gate to Lion’s Arch and Lion’s Arch has asura gates to each racial city. That’s 6 towns to map explore getting you enough transmutation charges for a full set of armor and doesn’t take too long, especially if you know how to get to everything in each map. If you have enough time you can try doing it at least twice a day and you’ll have 12 charges or more per day and have tons before you know it.

Edit: But I do have to agree with the OP though. It is annoying that a game heavily based on cosmetic appearances has you buy items to change your appearance and/or go through a bit of a hassle to get them. Sure you can get transmutation charges from the daily log in rewards but you only get a total of 3 charges per month, more if you’re lucky to get 1 from 1 of the random gem store items rewards.

So from daily log in rewards only you would have enough charges every 56 days to get for a full armor set. The only other ways to get charges for free is, like I said, a bit of a hassle involving map exploration, participating in PvP, etc.

Elementalists have the equivalent of 4 weapon sets through attunements. Each attunement gives you a completely different set of 5 weapon skills.

Engineers even more so since they have several different device and weapon kits that change their weapon skills. The difference is if an engineer doesn’t want to take a kit of any kind you’re stuck with only 1 weapon set. All kits are useful though and it’s probably a good idea to have at least 1.

Confused about how to buy this

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Charrbeque.8729

If you want to get the game for a friend you should wait until the expansion releases. Otherwise you’ll be paying an extra $50 on top of whatever you payed for the core game if you can find a copy at an authorized retailer/Amazon/eBay/etc. No release date has been announced yet, but it’s possible it could come in August for the 3rd anniversary of the game. At most I’d say 3 months tops.

Pre-ordering the expansion now doesn’t make the base game playable?

Anyway, the logic of buying the core only for a friend would be that as far as I can tell, the expansion doesn’t add much before level 80. I don’t know if this friend will even like the game enough to get that far. If I can get the core for $20 elsewhere, then that’ll be $20 wasted if my friend loves it — but they’ll be the one spending the $50, not me. And they can do it some time in the future when they have cash. Meanwhile spending $50 of my own cash isn’t really feasible right now (certainly not spending $100 to upgrade us both), and risks wasting $30 if they don’t stick with it.

Pre-purchaisng the expansion should allow instant access to the core game. But getting it for a friend means having your friend create their own account then using your card to make the purchase while they are logged into the website. I’m not sure if it’s OK to do that. It might be.

I can understand the dilemma. The only other option would be to check authorized retailers such as Gamestop, Best buy, Wal-Mart, etc. and see if any still carry a physical copy of the core game. Another option would be websites such as Amazon, Newegg, eBay, etc.

Here is how to do it: click the tab at the top of your window for the chat tab you want to modify. On the left side of the tab next to tab name is a little down arrow. Click this arrow and check/uncheck the types of messages you want or don’t want to see in that chat tab. This also gives you the option to rename the chat tab.

To create a new chat tab click the ‘+’ sign on the right side of the tabs at the top of your chat window. I have a separate chat tab only for combat messages and another tab only for game messages so my main tab doesn’t have everything thrown together.

I think it is a bit based on wording and what you count as the gemstore. As I read it, Gailes gemstore is the ingame store where you can buy things using gems. While your gemstore is the entire first option in the Black Lion Trading company that is labelled gemstore, but offers the HoT expansion without the offer to buy them with gems.

Level 80 characters still 'levling up'

It was stated in the 6/23 patch that level 80 would no longer gain experience though (which was looking forward to Levelup being removed for level 80’s :/ ). But it does seem like it will come with Mastery instead.

Yeah. That’s what I was referring to. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_updates/2015-06-23#Skill_Point_Conversion

Players will no longer be able to level a character after 80, but level 80 characters will be able to loot spirit shards from creatures in the world.

And I was pointing out that my level 80 characters are still ‘leveling’ but seemingly not gaining anything.

As Inculpatus pointed out, it looks like leveling on level 80 characters will be how we earn mastery points in HoT. If that’s the case I can understand them not changing anything now because then they’d have to change it back.

I assumed the patch notes meant we would literally not level up after 80 anymore. Period. That’s why I filed a bug report about it. The patch notes could have been worded better.

Einstein said that if you can’t put it in two sentences, then you probably don’t have a firm enough grasp of the problem yet. Guess i don’t, cause i need three;)

The real problem of gw2 (and HoT along the way) is it’s extremely watered down.
It needs a sub.

What does “watered down” mean? Both good and bad things.
If you divide time played by $ spent it’s just…well, no competition. This game rocks.
So cost wise it’s purchase price is greatly watered down over time.

But if you recall the infrequent content drops of questionable sizes these past 3 years, once in blue moon balance patches and dumbing down of the game (NPE, trait changes #1 and recent abominations), there’s your negative watering down at it’s finest and the reason ppl discard trust torwards a-net and are not moving an inch till they get more information on what’s inside HoT.

So if anything the real problem is the B2P model. People may get great value for their buck, but i think it’s fair to say at least some of us need much bigger bang and would not mind paying bigger buck if we were to get proper value for it. Rest of ppl are fine with smaller bang like the one we have, but not for this kinda buck.

So i suggested it once and will again – consider optional subscription for players. One that frees them of gemstore trappings. Skins obtainable ingame, via challenges with new content, rather then behind gemshop paywall. Same for those perma logging tools. You got sub up, you got your chance to get them ingame.

P2P games don’t fail because this payment model is bad – it’s the best of all, and both WoW and FF XIV prove it.
They fail becuase you need a good game to make it work. Luckily GW2 (if this stupidity of dumbing down everything stops) can defend that title with considerable ease, as long as content is delivered in sizable chunks and proper frequency.

They aren’t releasing content as fast as you want so you automatically assume the company isn’t doing financially well and the only way to solve that issue is to force people to pay more money for the game?

Did you even think this through?

The game has been out for almost 3 years now. If they attached a subscription to it now, do you know what would happen? You would be getting even less content. In fact, you wouldn’t get any content because players would leave the game in droves and they would end up having to shut it down because nobody wants to be forced to constantly pay for something they’ve been able to play for free for so long after buying it.

Look at other games that started out with subscriptions. A lot of them went free-to-play or are going to soon (did you hear about Wildstar?) Games go F2P because they aren’t making enough money to support the game anymore, and sometimes the F2P way brings back players along with new players and the company ends up doing even better than they did with a sub attached to it. The GW business model has worked for so many years. They’re not going to change it just because you want stuff and you want it now.

This is nothing more than a self-entitlement rant from someone who doesn’t have patience. It takes time to create new content. They have to go through a lot of testing and bug fixing before they release it. If you want new content now, pre-purchase the expansion. It’s coming soon and you’ll have a lot of stuff to do when it releases.

Edit: And if you really want to pay a monthly subscription there are plenty of games out there that offer that choice. Nobody is forcing you to play this game. Don’t let the door hit you in the kitten on the way out.

Level 80 characters still 'levling up'

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Charrbeque.8729

My level 80 characters still have an XP bar across the bottom of the screen that does fill up and once filled my character goes through the level up animation.

To my understanding once we reach level 80 we weren’t suppose to ‘level up’ anymore.

I’ve ‘leveled up’ several times on 2 different characters and it seems I’m not getting anything for it. I checked my hero points before and after leveling and there was no change. When you reach level 80 you have enough hero points to unlock all skills and traits and any other hero points afterwards comes from doing hero challenges around Tyria (formally skill challenges).

Level 80 characters get spirit shards as random loot drops from enemies, tomes of knowledge, daily achievements, and other sources instead of getting them automatically upon filling the XP bar, like we had with skill points. So I don’t think I’m getting spirit shards this way either.

So what the heck is going on here? Is there any reason for my character to keep ‘leveling up’ post 80? It seems I’m not getting anything for it. I’m fine with it, but I think it may be a bug that we even have an XP bar on level 80 characters.

What to do with all these hero points?

Hmm…I did pay attention. When my XP bar was almost filled on a level 80 character I checked the amount of hero points I had before and after ‘leveling up’. There was no change. It seems that we still go through the level up process and animation post level 80 but it doesn’t do anything or give us any kind of points.

I forgot to check my spirit shard count, but to my understanding for level 80 characters the only way to get them is as random loot drops from enemies, daily rewards, tomes of knowledge, etc., and not automatically granted once we fill our XP bar. And also to my understanding we were suppose to stop leveling once we reached level 80. Anything else that comes after that, like masteries and elite specializations, have to be obtained in a new way.

Why no PvE/PvP separation?

To add my insight into this, you need to consider the history of skill balance changes in GW1.

This isn’t about players being too confused; it’s to prevent them from having to nerf skills for PvP into oblivion.

In GW1 the reason why some skills were split for PvP is because they were too powerful. Sometimes the skills were nerfed to the point they couldn’t be very effective in any situation or build, thus limiting your options.

And if they can’t figure out a way to balance a skill for PvP they would nerf it so hard nobody will want to take it, effectively removing it from game play. A good example: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Smiter%27s_Boon_%28PvP%29

Trivia: This skill was modified in the August 21, 2008 update to effectively remove it from PvP. Its modification was explained in that update’s developer update.

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/ArenaNet:Developer_updates/20080821#Monk

Smiter’s Boon is a key skill in smite-heavy PvP teams that were generally overpowered and which too strongly discouraged the use of hexes and conditions. Their combination of healing, damage, and removal invalidated a lot of alternative builds within Team Arenas and has had a negative impact on GvG combat.

We recognize that the changes to this skill will essentially remove it from play. In the future, we may consider whether or not there is an incarnation of this skill that would be viable but balanced. For now, we do not expect it to see serious use.

And the developer’s explanation of how they decided to change the skill http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2yigwn/thank_you_pax_east_fans_had_a_great_time/cpad1gq (This explanation seems to have been posted 3 months ago)

We would end up seeing more of that in GW2. With skills split for PvP your options would be reduced due to some skills being nerfed. As it is right now every single skill and trait you have is perfectly viable in PvP, even if some builds aren’t as effective as others. It also prevents the need for extra developer time going into having to balance player skills for multiple game modes. This way they just balance things once and use the extra time to work on other things like fixing bugs or coming up with new content (or outfits for the gem shop LoL).

Why no PvE/PvP separation?

Where are these mentally deficient players who get confused by simple things like skills being slightly different between PvE and PvP? I’ve heard the “players would be confused!” thing a lot, but never met such a player.

Also, when it comes to splitting skills I’m pretty sure anyone who would be confused by small differences like “this skill does less damage in PvP” aren’t the kind of players to read tooltips or even notice the difference anyway.

GW1 differences between PvP and PvE tended to be very drastic because ANet had the stance of nerfing things out of the metagame, which is an entirely different problem. If you don’t want a skill to be viable in PvP you should probably straight up disable it and that would be a lot less confusing than having it last 90% less duration or whatever.

Isn’t it obvious? The reason why you don’t see any confused players is because there aren’t any due to the way things work.

They designed things to prevent player confusion and I’d say the system is working as intended.

Assuming they ever decide to sell it again, does Airship Pass work across all character slots?

I flick across 16 slots all day, so a thing in the backpack doesn’t work really

Both the Royal Terrace and the Airship pass are an item in one char’s inventory at a time and can only be used by that char.

They are account bound items that have to be put in the account bank and transferred to an alt. It would be nice if it was permanent account-wide access without having to move the item around to use it on alts, but then they wouldn’t be selling you extras so you can avoid having to transfer it through your bank.

As for me, I have a single royal terrace pass (infinite use) and usually hang there. I’m not much of a crafter but the pass teleports me there from anywhere in Tyria giving me instant access to the bank and TP. I tend to play a single character for a while so using the bank to transfer to an alt isn’t a big deal for me.

I wouldn’t be opposed to a every-person-for-themsleves type of PvP arena where nobody is on a team and everybody fights everybody, ending with the winner being the last to survive. I’m not a PvP player but that’s not a bad idea actually.

Edit: But I wouldn’t want it in PvE. Any kind of player battles should remain restricted to specific arenas.

The June 23rd update made it possible to change attribute combos on ascended weapons and armor through the mystic forge (such as changing berserker’s into clarrion’s). The OP’s glitch might have something to do with that.

What might have happened: the game mistakenly thought the OP was trying to change the attribute combo on their equipment instead of the skin. The system randomly selected ’Knight’s’ attributes and since the Wupwup armor doesn’t come in that attribute combo it was completely downgraded to exotic quality of a random piece that does come with ’Knight’s’ attributes.

Edited for clarity.

What to do with all these hero points?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

I believe they are used the same as Skill Points in crafting at mystic forge.

Actually, they are limited in number per character, as you can no longer level beyond 80 and champion bags drop instead a special mystic forge currency.
They just sit there!

Kythan is thinking of Spirit Shards. If I understand it correctly, Hero Points will be used for masteries once the expansion comes out. They will be used to learn things like how to glide and increase the duration of gliding. Keep in mind that elite specializations will also cost hero points (as well as their associated skills).

Take the time now to get as many as you can for when the expansion hits.

But won’t the new areas have new Hero points to discover? We’ll back where we started!

No longer level beyond 80? Then what has my character been doing since the June 23rd patch? My level 80 guardian has an XP bar at the bottom of the screen still. Several times since the patch the bar has been filled up and my character went through the level up animation and voice that goes with it. Am I earning more hero points? I honestly didn’t think of checking that until now. Anyone else notice gaining any spirit shards or hero points when you ‘level up’ a level 80 character?

It was stated that we no longer get skill points when filling the XP bar on level 80 characters and I think they said we won’t get spirit shards this way either. So I’m a little confused on this one. o.O

From the looks of things we gain enough hero points just from leveling to unlock all of our skills and traits. Hero challenges (formally skill challenges) allow us to continue getting hero points which will be used for the elite specializations (no idea about masteries yet). Keep in mind that elite specializations and masteries will only be available to players who purchase the expansion.

Purging Flames ground targeting underwater

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

The Guardian skill ‘Purging Flames’ was changed into a ground targeted skill with the June 23, 2015 update. The skill isn’t losing its ground targeting aspect when going underwater and makes using it extremely difficult, especially when near the surface of water so deep the ground is out of range. And it’s impossible to use it on enemies that aren’t close to the ground underwater, effectively making it completely useless.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Targeting#Ground_targeting

Most ground-targeted skills which can be used underwater lose that property upon going under water, instead the effect is either applied at caster’s location or targeted foe’s location.

So while underwater it should go off at the player’s location or the enemy target’s location. To be honest I don’t understand why it was even changed to a ground targeted skill in the first place. I liked it the way it worked before the June 23rd patch.

Bought the standard edition, if...........

Charrbeque.8729

Doubtful that the upgrade will be purchasable with Gems, anyway. It will probably be a cash purchase just like the expansion offered through the Gem Store.

At least for now. It might change a few months after HoT release.

Well there’s official word here:

The standard edition will be available in a “boxed copy” version from some authorized retailers. Some of those retailers are engaged in the pre-purchase program. Others are offering a pre-order, which is not the same thing and will not gain the benefits of the actual pre-purchase.

Hope this helps!

“The standard edition " Also the Deluxe version right? That is what the Faq says, however the retailers I checked only had the standard edition.

You can upgrade to the Deluxe through the in-game store. The only boxes are Standard.

And here:
https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/94582027-Heart-of-Thorns-Pre-Purchase-FAQ

If I purchase the Standard or Deluxe editions of Heart of Thorns will I be able to upgrade to Deluxe or Ultimate later?

Starting on June 23, 2015, you will be able to upgrade to Deluxe in the gem store, but the only way to receive the Ultimate edition is to buy it from buy.guildwars2.com or in-game.

So you can get the deluxe upgrade through the gem shop if you bought the basic expansion, like how you can get the digital deluxe upgrade for the core game through the gem shop.

Not sure what it means that you can get the ultimate edition “in-game”. It doesn’t specify if it’s the gem shop nor does it say if you can upgrade to ultimate after buying the basic or deluxe editions of the expansion.

From the looks of things you can’t upgrade to ultimate if you bought the basic or deluxe version. You either just buy that or go without. It also seems like you can’t get the basic expansion through the gem shop, only the deluxe upgrade. It would be nice to get some clear answers on this instead of some vague FAQ.

^Go read it again. They said in the paragraph AFTER the one for those that would continue playing and buy HoT, that they’ll do the standard refund/closure for those that merely dont want to play anymore.

I wasn’t talking about people who want a refund and have their account permanently closed. I was saying from the looks of things if you want a refund and to keep playing the game you need to buy the expansion first, meaning you have to fork over more money before you get back what is owed to you. Just my take take on it. I could be missing something.

The other thing is the free character slot for veterans that bugs me: it specifically states it’s given to veterans who purchase HoT before HoT releases. I assume this means after the expansion launches veterans get nothing extra who purchase the expansion late. Some veterans might not have the money now to buy it until after it launches, and when they do they’re out of luck.

The other thing is the announcement doesn’t mention which version of the expansion will give veterans a free character slot. Is it only the base $50 version? Does the Deluxe and Ultimate editions give an additional free character slot to veterans along with what it already comes with? I’m assuming it at least refers to the basic version. The announcement doesn’t clarify this.

I wouldn’t exactly call it a “win” for anybody.

Here’s why I think that: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/pre-purchase-community-address/

For all players who registered the core Guild Wars 2® game prior to January 23, 2015 and who upgrade their account by prepurchasing and registering any Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns edition before Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns‘ launch, we will add one additional character slot to your Guild Wars 2 account.

After HoT launches veterans get won’t get the extra character slot.

Players who purchased the core game between January 23 and June 16 have until July 31 to get a refund on the core game price (but only if you bought a copy from ArenaNet). But:

…we will automatically refund what you paid for the core game should you decide to pre-purchase Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns from our website or in-game store any time through July 31, 2015.

In other words, in order to get a refund for the core game you have to pre-purchase the expansion first before July 31. Edit: I guess it makes sense. They don’t want to give people refunds that don’t purchase the expansion later.

At least near the end they let us know their plans ahead of time regarding future expansions

In the future, if we release further Guild Wars 2 expansions, we plan to offer all of the prior expansions, the core game, and the latest expansion for one single purchase price.

I just hope next time they actually come up with something better for veterans who already own the core game and the HoT expansion.

Normal pack costs $50 wich is € 44.07 and we have to pay € 44.99 wich is $ 51.08 ( $1.08 more Its nothing to say about that is normal)
The deluxe version costs $75 wich is € 66.06 we have to pay € 74.99 wich is $ 85.14 ( $ 10.14 more its huge!!)
The ultimate version costs $100 wich is € 88.08 we have to pay € 99.99 wich is $ 113.53 ( $ 13.53 more, its huge)

(I’ve converted this with the status for 20-6-2015 at 00.22 GMT+01)

The most common reason for that is because people in Europe forget about VAT. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Value-added_tax So you guys essentially have to pay an extra tax for stuff.
