Seems more like lag/disconnects while entering/trying to enter and the last command the server gets is that walking forward.
Also, if you want to make a bot, you don’t do it like this. You can just make a macro that jumps all the time. Or at least walks forward and backwards instead of just walking off the ledge all the time, less obvious. At least that would be the thing I’d do.
Lag? It’s possible, except the first time I saw it happen it was 2 charr running together for the entire 30 minutes of the puzzle. Every time I went back to the beginning to start the puzzle over again they were still there doing it. The second and third time I saw this happen the players were running off the same exact platform and same exact path (just on the right side of the right snowman). The third time I saw this I stood there a few minutes to see if they player would stop.
I suppose lag is possible, and/or it’s some sort of weird graphic glitch where they seem to be doing it for me but nobody else sees it. No idea. Everything seems fine on my end so I really can’t tell what’s going on.
The real reason why it’s sometimes hard to get into the winter wonderland jumping puzzle: because players are botting the instace to prevent themselves from being kicked for being AFK.
What do I mean? Well so far I’ve seen this 3 separate times. Players will be at the middle platform (snowman path) running at an angle to the right of the right snowman, falling off the edge of the platform over and over again non-stop. If you stand still for a couple minutes you get kicked from the map and sent back to Divinity’s Reach automatically, but moving like this non-stop makes the game think you’re actually doing something. These players are NOT doing the jumping puzzle. The first time I saw this there were 2 charr running the exact same spot off the platform for the entire 30 minute duration of the puzzle.
Today I saw another charr doing this then later an asura. So far they all go the exact same path off the platform right next to that snowman. They are using macros or something I suspect. The thing is they are taking up slots that could be used by players who actually want to complete the jumping puzzle. Perhaps they do it to save their spot in the instance? Or maybe they are alt accounts in the same instance as their main and they’re teamed with the bot so they can easily get back into the instance?
Here is a screenshot showing the player about to fall (UI is off so you can’t see their name) and arrows added to show the direction they are falling.
I think the name of Wintersday should be changed to more honestly title it what it’s become:
“Broken Toypocalypse Gold Sink Achievement Festival 2015”
If you think the shoulder skins are there to commemorate the in-game holiday you are sorely mistaken. They are there to pull large quantities of gold out of the economy and to add artificially high-time investment to the game. Period.
Sadly a true assessment of the state of affairs for this winters day. I note that as of today, the drinks requirement has been changed to 5000, which still is going to be very difficult to do. If you use the model of 1200 presents to get 1000 drinks, this is still 6000 presents. I think I have opened just over 1250, and I have just over 1000 drinks to my credit.
All I wanted from the get go was to be able to complete the collection. Any skin was to me just a bonus. But since I have seen NO Superior Sigil of Snowfall drops, have only about 20 bells or so, and have ONLY GOT TO THE TENTH SNOWFLAKE IN THE JP, I am more or less done w/ this nonsense.
Kudos to all of you who are master jumpers. I mean that. I read about people being able to complete the WD JP in a couple of mins, and I say “Wow, that’s insane.” As for all and sundry who say JP’s are a major part of the game, I disagree. They are an EXTRA non-combat activity.
Yes, they are everywhere. But unless I miscounted, there are only 45 in the whole game, presumably including the MK’s Clock Tower and this one. How many vistas are there? How many hearts? How many WP’s? Killing monsters, exploring, doing HoT content, doing WvW and PvP, THAT is the major part of this game, not JP’s.
And I totally agree that this WD festival is a major resource sink on all levels. Gold Coins, Karma, actual Gold and crafting mat’ls are all necessary to get the WP collection achievement. Shame on Arena Net. And shame on me for falling for it and burning a bunch of gold and resources on the Essence of Mischief and the other parts that I have completed..
“NUFF SAID”
It wasn’t changed. You still need 10,000 drinks. 5,000 is for tier 4 out of 5 for the achievement. Hover your mouse over the amount and you’ll get a tooltip showing how many at each tier, with the absolute max is needed.
I’m at a little over 3,500 drinks now. Not a single drink bought from the TP. I do the jumping puzzle 30 times a day, buy as many gifts as I can with karma each day, and do a few daily achievements for some more gifts (mostly the 4 wintersday dailies). At this rate I might be able to just make it before the event ends. I really don’t want to have to resort to buying drinks in the trading post because the price isn’t coming down at all. In fact it was actually up by over a silver today compared to yesterday.
None of the infinite achievements count towards the meta. In fact, none ever do. It’s probably a bug that they even show up in the list for the Seasoned Toymaker achievement.
when I went for the wings the first time I grabbed the white ones first and couldn’t get the black ones after that, I swapped to another character and was able to get them. Can’t remember if I needed to do the story part first or not.
Yes. You need to start the HoT personal story. When you get to Verdink Brink you’ll need to talk to the scout to advance the story. After that you can talk to him again and he should see you have the wings equipped and give you a glider skin in your inventory.
you are transformed using the princess doll tonic. this is what causes the ruined items (unfortunately)
Yep. I realized that now. It only seemed to happen while in princess doll tonic form. So something is amiss.
From what I gather (no pun intended), it seems to be just a UI display bug that can be replicated.
A post from 6 months ago https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/39e6tg/wardrobe_question/cs2ux1f
It’s far too late for them to listen to feedback, or fix anything (such as having trouble entering the jumping puzzle).
I believe they’re on vacation until after January 1st. Although it’s not stated here https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/happy-holidays/ the beginning and end of the article implies it.
The event ends January 12, which means by the time they get back from vacation, there there won’t be enough time left of the event to even bother listening to us. Our best hope is for next year, but by then they might forget all about this thread and all the feedback we’ve provided.
More dance emotes would be nice.
In GW1 you had 10 professions and 2 genders. Each gender would have a different dance for each profession, for a total of 20 different dance styles. Then you had the collector’s edition dances for ritualists, assassins, paragons, and dervishes, which was basically their standard dance with an added special effect, for a total of 8 more dances. Grand total of 28 dances in GW1.
In GW2 profession and gender doesn’t matter. Your dance style is based on your race. Males and females dance exactly the same for each race, regardless of profession. Grand total of 5 dances in GW2.
And of course a ton of other emotes that aren’t available in GW2. I would love to use the ‘/boo’ emote, especially ‘/boo @’ while targeting another player so it says something like I startled them and made them wet their pants.
To be honest it is a bit annoying having to type out emotes every time. It would be nice if there was a button on the chat window that would give us a list of available emotes that we could select which would make our characters do it automatically. It’s a pain when doing ‘Mad King Says’ during the halloween event and you misspell a word or can’t type it fast enough and fail.
Change it from an item to an account-wide flag that allows you to get to the terrace on any character on the account you bought it on, then reintroduce it to the gem shop. I’m sure more people will buy it if they don’t have to keep swapping one single item around to all of their characters. I got it for the convenience and found out it was a bloody hassle.
Similar suggestions have been made for other gem store items, particularly the infinite gathering tools.
The general consensus is that it would cause ArenaNet to lost money. How? If you don’t want to hassle with using the account bank to transfer the item between characters, you would need to pay 1,000 gems each to get it for your alts. And I’m sure some players have purchased multiple copies of such things from the gem store for their alts, so if they suddenly changed it to only need 1 each for your entire account those same players would demand a refund or some sort of other compensation for all the (now) unneeded extras they have.
I love the idea of making such things a single purchase account-wide unlock. But I’m just sticking to using the account bank to transfer items between characters because I’m not paying any more gems then I have to. Why should I pay more gems to have the items on my alts when what I already have can be used by them?
Keep in mind: to my understanding, originally infinite use gathering tools were bound to character, so at the time you had no choice but to buy more for your alts. They probably prefer it that way and never wanted to change it, but only changed them to be account bound due to the backlash they got from it on account of how greedy they made themselves out to be.
The whole thing is a money making scheme and I don’t expect them to change it any time soon.

It isn’t the amount required for the achievement. It’s the kittenty amount dropped from wintersday gifts.
Increase the amount of candy canes, food, and drinks from gifts please.
Connoisseur of Confection achievement: (NOT required for shoulder skin) I’m at less than 400 out of 2,500. I’m currently saving my candy canes and waiting for the price to come down a little more in the TP for the mini gift skritt. I need 16 of that mini along with a bunch of candy canes to get the mini munificant gift skritt. Once I accomplish that I can use whatever candy canes I have left over but it’s not gonna put me up that high.
Festive Imbiber achievement: (IS required for the shoulder skin) I have a little over 2 stacks of gifts to open and I’m at a little over 1,800 out of 10,000. After opening the gifts I might be at just over 2,000 and still have a very long way to go. This is the only achievement I need for the shoulder skin and I’ve done the jumping puzzle about 135 times or so now and it’s getting tiresome, repetitive, and very boring. There are a lot of other things I’d rather be doing, but for me the JP is the most efficient way to get gifts. I was planning on doing toypocolypse, snowball mayhem, and bell choir, to get max achievement points from the infinite achievements, but scrapped that idea due to the JP being better at getting gifts.
While gathering materials from my home instance I received:
1 Ruined Plant Fiber
6 Ruined Ore Chunks
9 Ruined Logs
Gathering tools used:
Reap-r-Tron
Log-r-Tron
Watchwork Mining Pick
This means I got materials from 3 out of 4 plant nodes, 1 out of 3 ore nodes, and 1 out of 4 tree nodes.
I gathered while in endless princess doll tonic form if that has any bearing.
“Soylent green is asura.”
I don’t know about orphans being outside Divinity’s Reach, but it looks like there are 30 in DR.
Dulfy has a map showing their locations in DR. Happy gifting! http://dulfy.net/2015/12/16/gw2-donation-drive-orphan-locations-guide/
Since the Devs are posting regularly on the Reddit forum and not everyone reads Reddit, I thought I would start a thread with Dev quotes from that forum and try to update it as needed to make the same information over here equally available. This information may be already available from other sources, but if it’s new to me or I think it’s not widely known, I’ll post it here.
Feel free to add relevant, informational posts from Reddit (or Twitter) yourself as you see them.
Today’s post:
ArenaColin Source
You should see the first round of updates that help with #1 and #3 on your list next week from our new Fractals team.
As for #2 and #4 – those are both things we agree with, and we recently formed a larger fractal team after HoT launch so we can do exactly stuff like that.
Great suggestion thread, I passed it along to the team as well.
Judging by the Reddit dev tracker they sure seem to post a lot in that ‘Cupcake Day at ArenaNet!!’ thread.
You are what you eat, I guess.
WTF is going on over there?
I log in, claim my daily log in reward, then a minute later I’m instantly throw back to the character select screen with a message saying I lost connection to the server. So I logged back in to find I was able to claim the same exact daily log in bonus again.
I don’t know if I got an extra 6 mystic coins or not since I deposited the first set immediately to the bank. But the system message was still there since I was able to get back into the game right away.
Skill points were converted into spirit shards some time before HoT launched.
Spirit shards were never awarded for filling your XP bar on a level 80 character. In fact, from the time they converted skill points to the time HoT launched, filling the XP bar did absolutely nothing.
Now with HoT out, filling the XP bar goes towards the mastery you have selected. If you haven’t purchased the HoT expansion, filling your XP bar over and over will do nothing since you need HoT to gain access to masteries.
You get 3 spirit shards per day from completing your daily achievement meta.
Using a tome of knowledge on a level 80 character will give you 1 spirit shard per tome.
You can buy Dessa’s Experiment Journal from fractal vendors to get 1 spirit shard each.
They did say ahead of time we could get spirit shards as random loot drops from enemies when playing level 80 characters., but I don’t know if I’ve ever got any that way. From the looks of things they actually have a chance to drop from various loot/reward boxes and bags, as well as being rewarded sometimes when completing personal story missions.
Came across this on Massively http://massivelyop.com/2015/11/26/guild-wars-2-hints-at-wvw-overhaul/
Added at the bottom of the article:
As Massively OP commenter Dystopiq has pointed out, Johanson’s comments come just as ArenaNet’s WvW design lead, Devon Carter, departs the studio. “It’s generally the case that there will be no comments about internal stuff like this,” Carter wrote on Reddit. “For a variety of reasons, but, that’s just the reality of things. WvW will continue to be an important part of the game.”
Reddit post by Devon carter on leaving ArenaNet

I left ArenaNet because I had an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. The part of me that enjoys candor and openness in games would love to do an AMA, but not only would that likely be disrespectful to ArenaNet, a place that I owe a great deal, and the people that continue to work there, but it would also not be particularly illustrative, I suspect.
The reality is that I’ve been wrong enough times about things to know that I can’t really expect my decisions to be infallible and while I’ve certainly disagreed with some decisions made for GW2, I suspect that the number of times I was wrong to disagree outweigh the number of times I was right.
Not sure what to make of this. It sounds like the dev didn’t like the direction ArenaNet was taking with WvW but also disagreed with them more than he should have. Whatever is going on, things don’t look too promising.
WvW is a ghost town. I never see any queues to get into any maps. I see maybe 5 or so people from my server in our borderlands map and I’m lucky if I even run into enemy players from a competing server.
I like the desert borderlands maps but they’re too big actually and feel more like something that should have been used for PvE.
Gathering nodes (synthesizers) are only at specific locations (camps, towers, castles, etc.) instead of being all over the landscape.
On the bright side I can roam around and capture camps and shrines solo with little fear of getting stampeded by a pack of rabid dolyaks large group of players from behind me. It allows me to earn WvW XP at a somewhat slow rate so I can rank up and earn those tokens I can give to the NPC to unlock a random hero challenge in HoT, so I can avoid the nightmare of stupid crap like trying to solo a champion mordrem teragriff accompanied by 3 or so mordrem wolves (I’m surprised I actually lasted 15 seconds). Yeah. Spent maybe a couple hours in Verdant Brink a couple days after HoT launched and I haven’t had any desire to go back to that hellhole.
I’m not expecting much for WvW, at least nothing any time soon. I keep hearing about how it was said they were going to overhaul it. They’ve been working on it for “over a year”.
I’m not usually into WvW but I do like to roam around there on occasion, getting into zerg groups and run around capping stuff (and getting my rear handed to me).
As far as the “overhaul” goes: I’ll believe it when I see it, but I’m sure as hell not getting my hopes up.

Pretty sure the herald runes are being extracted from non salvageable gear.
Good possibility.
However, it seems there is no way to craft rune of the revenant of any type.
I just noticed the wiki doesn’t have a source of where to get the recipe (recipe sheet or discovery). I had just tried this out myself: the Evergreen Lodestone needed for the recipe can’t be placed into the discovery window as it doesn’t show up at all in the window to add. I checked the trading post for a recipe sheet but nothing came up.
I’m guessing they haven’t released everything yet for us to craft the runes of revenant or obtain it in any other way.
Hmm….
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Minor_Rune_of_the_Revenant
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Major_Rune_of_the_Revenant
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Rune_of_the_Revenant
The recipes to craft each level of rune are only showing 3 ingredients each. The minor and major rune seem to have no trading post listing at all at the upper right side of the pages. The superior version shows a TP listing but appears to have no price, which most likely means there are none for sale.
The superior rune of the revenant is used in a recipe to craft a superior rune of the herald, and it appears this is the only way to get the herald rune.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Rune_of_the_Herald The superior rune of the herald is showing a TP price of over 75 gold, which means somebody is using superior runes of the revenant to craft them (unless there is another way to get the herald rune and the wiki is just missing the info).
Judging by the wiki none of these runes are bound at all and the wiki is only showing 3 ingredients for each of these runes, so I have no idea if the recipes are complete. You can give it a try and see if it works.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Evergreen_Lodestone used for crafting all versions of the revenant rune and it goes for over 3 gold each on the TP, which isn’t too expensive.
Episode: The Dragon’s Reach Part 1
Story step: Summit Invitations
Objective: Destroy the Sons of Svanir Dragon Totem
I wound up clicking on the Dragon Totem during the battle before I was suppose to. I shouldn’t be able to click it until the objective says to. Also it can only be used by 1 player at a time. I saw another player after the battles running around it in circles so I’m assuming he was working on this episode as well.
This is a game breaking bug that completely halts personal story progression and can only be completed by 1 player at a time. This issue was reported a very long time ago when this episode was first released. I am shocked it hasn’t been fixed yet.
What am I suppose to do? Drop the episode and start it over? This is the first time doing this episode on this character and I really don’t want to have to start the whole thing all over again, only to risk story progression being completely halted again at this exact point.
You can see in the screenshot the objective is to destroy the Totem but it already is.
Edit: After waiting about 10 minutes or so I went back in there and was able to click it again even though it still looked destroyed, then enter the instance to continue the story. So it seems if you screw up and click it at the wrong time you have to wait a bit before you can click it again.

I tried out the RMT gold buying service recently. I got a pm and thought it sounded good, so I did it. Of course, ANET took not only the gold I bought, but also the other 400g I already had that was earned legitimately. I didn’t know that the gold RMT sells was being stolen from hacked accounts or botted, otherwise I never would have participated.
Still, I’m not salty about all of my gold being taken away (except for what I had earned legitimately maybe), but I am disappointed in myself for not knowing how that gold is acquired.
I am, however, a little depressed that the gold is gone, because I very rarely use any of my gold on myself. I don’t have fancy gear or fancy anything really, nor do I really desire it. 90% of my gold, I spend on random people that I see being kind or just a good part of the community in general.
Of course, that paragraph is not meant to justify anything. Although I was ignorant as to where the RMT gold comes from, I am not ignorant to the ToS. I’m just thankful that they didn’t ban my account.
I can now say that I am well educated on the effects of gold buying and gold selling on the game, whereas before I only thought that it was because ANET didn’t want to lose out on any sales. This lesson costed me $69.35 and 1400 gold. Don’t let it happen to you!
ANET, is there anything else more that you could do to ensure that players are educated on all of this stuff? I wouldn’t wish this feeling on anyone, and I hope my own failure can help prevent others from this happening to them.
It doesn’t matter if the gold was stolen from a hacked account or earned legitimately. Buying gold from RMT is against the ToS. Period.
I finally got back my account after a banned since 11/4. My account was compromised and it was my fault for being an idiot. I was scammed because of the in-game phishing scam. But now, i’m just happy that i got unblock. GJ ANet team. Basically, anyone that is truly innocent, they would know
Awesome news.
Customer support really needs to stop telling people they’re not going to respond anymore and actually look further into the matter to find out if such situations are the cause of a person’s accounts being used for nefarious purposes.
To all who disagree with banning all of one’s accounts when only 1 or 2 are caught cheating: you have to consider the circumstances.
If a player has 2 accounts and uses 1 to bot to gain large quantities of gold and/or items, they are probably transferring stuff over to their their main account. If only the cheating account was banned they would retain all the ill gotten gains acquired on the cheating account and quite possibly create another secondary account to cheat and transfer more items over. In other words, they probably won’t learn their lesson. It would be too time consuming to check the non-cheating account to find all the ill gotten gold/items and manually remove them. It’s easier to ban all the person’s accounts as it will discourage them from ever doing it again, at least I would hope so.
(edited by Charrbeque.8729)
They’re not going to say what was used to hack/cheat on an account or how they detected it because it would give people ideas on how to get around the system. In other words, if they say what software was used to cheat, someone may try to modify the software to avoid further detection.
I got 1 from a shark in Iron Marches. It was in my way of a mining node. Aside from being account bound it has no value so we can’t even sell it to a merchant for a few copper.
This has been bugging me since HoT released.
Occasionally the ‘Daily Master of Ruins’ achievement will be available, as it is today November 4, 2014.
The issue? The WvW Desert borderlands maps don’t have ruins of power, so there’s nothing to capture in order to complete the daily.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Desert_Borderlands#Notes
The Desert Borderlands are planned to be on a rotation with the Alpine Borderlands.
There are no jumping puzzles or Ruins of Power in the maps.
So far I haven’t seen the old WvW borderlands maps make a return since HoT launched and 1 player said the rotation of maps might not be implemented yet.
‘Daily Master of Ruins’ should be removed and only available if the old borderlands maps that do have ruins of power ever become available again.
This is probably just an oversight, but frustrating since I often times did this specific daily to fill out my 3 for the day.
Make sure to include your date of birth when contacting them. A long time ago I had a similar situation where I forgot my password for my NCSoft Master account (which was discontinued a while back) and customer support asked me to give them the info I already gave them. I realized I forgot to give them my D.O.B. and once I did I got the help I needed.
Why are the Kodan so afraid of the Norn?
Because the Norn have a right to bear arms.
It’s all a Nemesis plot.
From what I gather, in the PvP section of the forums there seemed to have been some complaints about it. I’m guessing it made engineers too tough to kill or something. Being too OP and hard to kill in PvP is also the reason why they removed those runes and that amulet in PvP in today’s patch.

No problem with the Horror spawn. Killed him a few times.
Try guesting to get to another map?
Good luck.
Depends on when it happened. Before the 10/25 7pm est patch, the Horror spawned for me with no problems. But after last night’s “update” it broke again.
Same here. I spent several hours in the labyrinth, even getting taxied it to a few groups and haven’t seen it since the patch on Oct. 25th. There was also at least 1 patch on Oct. 24th but the wiki doesn’t have patch notes posted for either day.
Elite Specializations & Hero Point Feedback [Merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Charrbeque.8729
This screenshot is of my Charr warrior. I got 100% world map completion before WvW was no longer a requirement for that.
9 skills unlocked for elite specialization with 10 to go. This means out of all the work and months I put into actually playing the game I have to do just as much if no more to get the rest of the hero points needed for my elite spec. From what I’ve seen there is way less HoT content compared all all of the core game, yet you have to do just as much work.
I admit I haven’t even started the HoT stuff yet because I’m working on Halloween stuff first, but still it’s disappointing to see this. I was expecting to have most of my elite spec completed with needing to do some HoT stuff to finish it off, while all HoT and other stuff would be needed for masteries.
Edit: For a long time people have been requesting that world map completion was made account wide. This is a perfect example of that. All the months I spent working on it (and at times it was rather difficult and annoying), only to find I have to force myself to do it on each and every character to get what is needed for their elite specializations.

Why do Kodans travel south for the winter? They’re bi-polar bears.
Same issue here. Can’t sell anything because I’m getting that error saying it can’t connect to the log-in server.
Wait, are you saying you won’t be able to get influence after HoT drops?
I think they said basically that guild influence is being changed to guild favor.
Guild favor used for various upgrades and whatnot can only be earned by completing guild missions, puzzles, challenges, etc. We will no longer be able to buy influence and won’t be able to buy favor.
I think they also said you will need at least 5 players to complete some sort of mission where you clear out mordrem enemies in order to gain access to a guild hall.
In other words they are killing off solo guilds and guilds with less than 5 players.
They want to force us to group with other players in order to do anything in this game. It’s sad because this game use to be solo and casual friendly for the most part.
Halloween stuff is out… but the gobbler is not.. So sad.
You necroed an 8 month old thread LoL.
There is still plenty of time left in the month and the Halloween event hasn’t even started yet. I’m sure the candy corn gobbler will come back soon.
I bought it last year and regretted it though. :P
It was some time last year. They made it so that some minis that held weapons had their weapons stowed instead to fix “clipping issues”.
An asura asked me for some spare coin the other day because he was a little short.

Why has surfing become popular in Orr? Because the waves have risen.
Go to addons in Firefox and select Plugins. Click “More” under “Shockwave Flash”.
Uncheck the box that says “Enable Adobe Flash protected mode”.
I was having issues with many websites. For example, Photobucket wouldn’t work right in some areas and I was only able to watch videos on Youtube. All other websites the videos would be nothing but a solid black box, no playback controls, and no sound. Heck, my subscribed channels list in Youtube were messed up a bit.
After turning off the “Adobe Flash Player protected mode” everything worked fine since then and all websites I visit are working the way they use to.
The profanity filter should use the word “monkey” instead of “kitten”.
But that would never happened because the forum software is so monkeyed up. Even the god monkeyed search feature doesn’t work. ArenaNet has said they’re aware the monkeying forums are broken and have no plans to fix the monkeyed thing.
Don’t mind me. I’m just monkeying around on the forums.
The answer is yes, until HoT launches.

Well, given how much a test of skill they’re supposed to be I’d hope things like rez orbs are disabled. Personally I think they should remove the repair anvil as well.
It made for a good joke.
But these folks asked for a truly brutal challenge, and it just wouldn’t be fair to steal that from them with such cheap things as rez orbs and easy access repairs.
No, punishment for not being as awesome as they think they are should cost them a trip elsewhere to repair.
A dev did posted in this thread the res orbs would be disabled.
But I completely agree about removing the repair anvil. They should also disable instant repair canisters too.
For a long time the elitists have complained about the game being too “easy” and “boring”.
I say give them what they want. Make raids as difficult as possible.
Aside from disabling res orbs and removing the anvil, take the death penalty from GW1 and add it to raids with no way to remove the penalty during the raid. If all players get a -60% death penalty, the raid fails and everyone is removed from the map. They would have to go repair their armor and start all over again.
So, essentially what you are asking for is a way to have options like “Receive Whispers”:
- From All
- From Friends and Guild Members
- From Friends
- None
This seems like a reasonable feature request.
If Player A is on Player B’s friends list, but Player B isn’t on Player A’s friends list, how does that interaction work out?Would this also extend out to things like mail?
(Please note this does not mean that this will happen, won’t happen, is planned to happen, and or not planned to happen)
It’s simple. A feature that has been requested in the past would alleviate that issue.
We should have a confirmation for friend requests. If someone wants to add you to their friend list you would get a pop up to confirm the request. If you allow someone to add you to their friend list it will automatically add them to your friend list. Since both players are on each others list they would be able to whisper each other if 1 has it set to only allow friends to whisper them. Edit: This would also be extended to the mail system, allowing you to only receive mail from friends and/or guild members. This would also prevent players from receiving scam and RMT mail. You would still receive mail that comes from ArenaNet no matter what your settings are, so you know for sure it comes from them.
And if you remove a player from your friends list it will remove you from theirs and they will receive a notification (next time they log in if they’re offline when you unfriend them) letting them know you are no longer friends.
The way the system works is open to abuse and has been abused.
I’ve seen complaints on the forums in the past about how players in WvW can put someone of an opposing server on their friend list and see that player’s character/account name, then proceed to send them whispers to harass them for whatever reason.

Weird. I actually got 8 quartz crystals from the node in my home instance today, which is a day after I posted this thread. Strange coincidence.
It’s the first time in weeks I got more than 3 in a single day. To be honest, getting only 3 was actually quite rare and my average was around 4-6 a day, and often times 8 or more.
Must have been a fluke. Since then I’m back to getting only 3 quartz crystals per day from my home instance node.
For those of us who have repetitive motion sickness issues that would be a game ender.
What? The bird is tiny and, more often than not, is not even seen because you’ll have the TP window open as it’s flying off. Motion sickness would not be triggered by this except in a case where the person had already been triggered by something else.
Anet should know better than to use it for the TP – it’s a bank transfer over the ethereal network that has nothing to do with carrier mail – if they want to be genre correct, they need to remove that ridiculous action.
Huh? What genre are you talking about? Mail carriers are obviously part of the GW2 universe, so it’s “genre correct” for the game.
Yeah, pretty much, the TP window is large and always covering my character. I never noticed my mail carrier going off until I managed to get a Raven Mail Carrier from a black lion chest. The only reason why I just noticed this now is because that carrier has a sound effect, like flapping wings and some sort of chime, and saw the bird flying away after closing the window.
Every time I sell an item in the trading post my mail carrier activates for each item sold. It seems to only happen when I sell stuff instantly. If I list items that sell later the carrier doesn’t activate.
I’ve also witnessed this happening to other players standing in front of a trading post NPC with 1 mail carrier after the other flying away from them.
It seems to be the send mail animation where the carrier flies away from players as if they are sending multiple mail to other players.
Thanks for the heads up.

I would never buy something that popped up every time I sold something, hundreds to thousands of times a day.
News flash: there is a default mail carrier that everybody has and you can’t disable it.
If people get motion sickness from tiny mail carriers slowly floating away from players, they shouldn’t bother playing the game to begin with. Dodge rolling is much more intense and more plausible as something that could cause that. This is the first time I ever heard of any claim that anything in the game could cause motion sickness.
This thread wasn’t to complain about the mail carrier activating when selling stuff in the TP. I thought it was a bug. The consensus is that this is working as intended, and if so, I’m perfectly fine with that.

Bug reports are a form of feedback.
Beta testing isn’t just about what skills are too OP or too weak. It’s about finding and reporting what works and what doesn’t work also.
I was always under the impression a “mail” carrier was for sending and receiving “mail”. I’m not mailing or receiving mail when selling stuff in the trading post.
How is it that you aren’t sending or receiving stuff when you, um, send stuff to the TP or receive it? Admittedly, lore reasons don’t require them to use a carrier for that, too. (Although maybe programming reasons made it a better choice than no carrier.)
Don’t use logic with me. It makes my brain cells ’splode.
