Mini Gwynefyrdd

In 2015 it was available at a Halloween vendor for 110 candy corn cobs during the event. And it’s available again this year for 110 candy corn cobs.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mini_Gwynefyrdd

Note: the wiki only lists the candy corn vendor as being in the Grand Piazza https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Candy_Corn_Vendor

But, there is another next to the wagon behind Drooburt just north of the Mystic Forge that sells the same minis and other things the one in the Grand Piazza sells.

I can’t say for certain, but I was under the impression last year that when the mini was added to the Halloween vendor it was removed from the trick or treat bag loot table.

Last year players complained that 110 candy corn cobs was way too many for this mini, and this year they added a new mini https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mini_Oxidecimus_the_Shadow_Raven for 120 cobs. GG ArenaNet. Way to listen to feedback.

Trading Post: dead item orders

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

It isn’t just runes and sigils that have this problem. There are a whole lot of various crafting materials with buy orders below the minimum amount. A lot of it are items that have way more supply then demand, where there is a whole ton listed for sale at the minimum sell price.

I did notice a long time ago it appeared as though ArenaNet did go through it and cancel quite a lot of those buy orders below the allowed price. But over time I’ve noticed more and more items had new buy orders below the minimum price.

The bottom line is there are way too many items like this for ArenaNet to have missed. A few items is quite possible. But I have a habit of gathering and salvaging a lot of stuff and sell off everything in the trading post every couple weeks or so and I notice odd stuff like this.

My only guess is there’s either some kind of weird glitch where this happens and the devs haven’t been able to fix it yet, or it’s done intentionally by someone who found a glitch in the system to exploit.

My suggestion is to actually investigate the matter, instead of just cleaning house by cancelling the buy orders. Some of these buy orders only have a few, while others can be over 10,000. Are the buy orders posted by many, many accounts, or only a few? For buy orders below the allowed minimum price, is there 1 or more specific account that shows up for multiple items like this?

I do wish they would look into it. It’s kind of annoying seeing thousands for sale at the minimum price, but I can’t fill these orders because they’re too low. And with so many for sale I wind up having to just vendor some items because it would take a rather long time before mine finally gets sold.

What's Missing from Material Storage?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Cooking has a lot of ingredients you craft that are then used in other recipes.

Some examples:

Ball of dough
Bowl of candy corn glaze
Bowl of ice cream base
Bowl of poultry stock
Bowl of meat stock
Buttermilk biscuit
Cinnamon apple
Loaf of bread
Bottle of simple dressing

And a bunch more.

I’d also like to emphasize the various types of vision crystals. It’s never made sense that something mainly used to craft ascended equipment was never in the material storage.

For some reason, the song Material Girl by Madonna popped into my head. xD

Would be nice to know why the restriction exists. I haven’t been able to figure it out on my own.

To prevent free accounts from farming transmutation charges maybe?

Lion’s Arch has Asura gates to all 5 racial cities, and getting 100% map complete on LA and each racial city gives you 1 transmutation charge each. You can get 6 charges in a short amount of time if you are familiar with the cities. Then delete the character and repeat the process to get as many free transmutation charges as you desire. I imagine some players actually farm them like this. But a level 35 requirement to enter Lion’s Arch would discourage free players from farming them.

If this is about the Mad King Says event, I can confirm. When he first shows up when the event starts, you can’t see him. We did have this problem last year but I don’t remember them ever fixing it. Also, when he first spawns while invisible his voice over doesn’t complete. He says “You Mad King says….” and that’s it. He doesn’t say the emote. You have to look at the right of your screen at the bar to see which emote you need to do. But it can also happen on rare occasions during the event where his voice over is missing the part for the emote you’re suppose to do after saying “Your Mad King says….”

Autoloot not working correctly in Labyrinth

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Charrbeque.8729

I didn’t say it completely fails. I said it fails to completely function.

Err, you mean it doesn’t fully function for everything in the labyrinth like in other parts of the game. I can agree on that. Autoloot works on world boss chests but not the 2 daily boss chests in the lab. It does work for the chest at the end of Ascent to Madness, which is a chest you can loot as many times as you want in a day.

It’s possible it could be designed not to work in the lab for some reason, but it would be nice if it did.

Edit: @Tamasan
They shouldn’t be scripted like JP chests though. JP chests are always there. The chests from the 2 bosses in the Mad Kings Labyrinth spawn after defeating the bosses, much like chests from world boss events.

With the Xbox DVR thing turned on, I get a pop up at the bottom of the screen every time I bring up the GW2 launcher. It shows a keyboard command to start recording video or something. It doesn’t pop up when you turn the Xbox Game DVR thing off the proper way.

OP said:

……basically disables the Xbox app in Win 10 using Regedit

That’s your problem. When I installed Win10, the Game DVR feature of the Xbox app was on by default. Microsoft doesn’t like people using regedit to disable/remove core Win10 features or apps. If you do, it will be reenabled/reinstalled in a future Windows update. This is why the Xbox Game DVR keeps turning itself back on after you go through hoops to get rid of it.

As I pointed out, if you actually log into the app and turn it off the normal way, it should stay off. Unfortunately there just isn’t any way to completely remove the Xbox app without it messing up your OS or having it reinstalled by Microsoft.

Click Start button, scroll to the bottom, and launch the Xbox app. I logged in using my Hotmail account just fine (since Microsoft owns Hotmail). In the Xbox app, go to settings and click Game DVR at the top, then turn it off. Click General next to Game DVR and sign out, then close the app. I checked it today after seeing this thread, and the Xbox Game DVR was still turned off, and I’ve had it off since some time before the Win10 anniversary update.

Candy Corn Gobbler this halloween please?

Charrbeque.8729

Thinking about it, they may just update the candy corn gobbler this year. They’ll probably add a boost for WvW/PvP reward tracks.

But, if you’re in need of the boost the gobbler gives you, and your guild hall has them available, https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Enhancements (available enhancements at the bottom)

You can choose a single buff that lasts 24 hours free of charge, and without needing special guild permissions. You can go back to your hall and choose another buff at any time or even the same buff to refresh the amount of time left.

So…..
Gobbler: gives a random boost that lasts only 15 minutes, but increases the duration by 7 minutes if it gives you a boost it already gave you, with a high chance if it just transforming you into a mummy and not give you a boost. That takes a lot of candy corn that you could make gold off of.

Guild hall tavern: gives a boost of your choosing that lasts 24 hours.

Charrbeque.8729

I think it was available for Halloween 2015, but only after players requested it, and I think it was only in the gem shop for about a week.

Take my word for it: it’s not worth the gems.
I bought it in 2014 and at least half the time it transformed me into a mummy without giving me any buffs. When it did give me a buff, it was WXP boost most of the time. You could wind up with hours of WXP booster and have maybe a half hour to an hour each of various other buffs. If I remember right, people complained last year that it still functioned pretty much the same.

Last year though, there were a lot more items to purchase with candy corn cobs. You can trade 1,000 pieces of candy corn for a cob. You can actually still do it right now by talking to Sonder the Seller on the north west side of Lion’s Arch. I’m expecting candy corn cobs to be in high demand again, so instead of wasting them on a useless gem shop item, you’d be better off converting your candy corn into cobs and sell them on the trading post to make some gold.

Edit: If ArenaNet puts out some improvements this year to how it works, it might be worth buying if it’s available.

How do we use the in game report system for /me?

You’d have to run around the area to find where the player is, then right-click their character and select the report option. For explicit/offensive chat, verbal abuse should be the correct category.

Not just a long walk, but I’ll need to get decent gear from the TP ‘cause I’ll have to do things on them to get the items needed, such as the soulbound Harpy Feathers for the thief to give to a cat, which requires you to buy them from a merchant after an event is completed.

When I eventually get all that done, I’ll go to Bloodstone Fen or Ember Bay and let out a few screams to vent my frustrations.

Ember Bay doesn’t count for wold map completion, nor does Dry Top, Silverwastes, or the 4 HoT maps. Only core Tyria does. So unless they add something new to the core maps (like they added some renowned hearts to the starter zones a while back), you won’t lose world map completion.

Can you please fix spawned items?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charrbeque.8729

Charrbeque.8729

I think these instances are pretty rare, for I play the game for hours every night, and a lot on the weekends, and I can’t remember this happening more than once or twice. I also happen to believe that many if not most are accidental, and not a form of griefing.

Can you imagine someone who accidentally spawns a banker or other element getting suspended? Really?? “Dear player — you put your golem banker in the wrong place, so welcome to SuspensionLand™.” That just doesn’t set well in my mind’s eye.

If someone does this to grief others, well, why not just move on and let it go? I cannot see the team investing the time to show spawners’ names, and I really don’t believe this request has a high level of priority. If a dev decides to take on this request, I’m sure they will post to indicate that.

Several days ago in Noble’s Folly, someone had spawned a Black Lion Trading NPC right in front of a crafting station I happened to need to use. I had to click the crafting station to target it so I could use it. The thing is, there’s already a BLTC NPC in Noble’s Folly, so there’s no point in using an item there to summon one when it’s just a few steps away.

I have also seen banker golems spawned in various places, like in front of a vista you can use to complete a daily.

I’m sure most of it isn’t malicious, but in some cases, it obviously was intended to make things difficult for players.

There really isn’t much that can be done about it, aside from going through the entire game and placing invisible barriers around key locations and NPCs that prevent players from using banker golems and other such items within the area.

The game drops gemstone armor sets?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Charrbeque.8729

Im not asking out of curiosity – this HAPPENED to me about a year and a half ago or so when I was new, and I just realized it doesn’t make sense and I never ask about it. I killed something in queens dale and got the profane armor

The Profane Light Armor has always been a gem store item.

However, if you had purchased the Heroic Edition of the core game, or the Digital Deluxe Upgrade from the gem shop, it gives you a choice of an armor set. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Heroic_Chest

The Profane Light Armor is a choice from this. It actually gives you 2 versions of the armor you choose: 1 full set of just skins that you can apply to your armor, and a full set of rare quality starter armor that you can actually equip. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Profane_Masque

What probably happened was you found a piece of the equippible version of the armor in your inventory and just assumed you got it as a loot drop from a monster.

I got the normal version of the game for $40 at the time idk if it was heroic or not, but I was NOT presented with a “choose this armor” page, and I do not have the other bonuses like the wolf, the mini, etc. I’m also 89% sure I saw it all pop in my inventory after o looted some enemy

The heroic chest that gave you a choice of armor was account bound and sent to you through the in game mail when you logged in for the first time after creating or upgrading your account.

I’m pretty sure the Profane Light Armor was never a random loot drop. You wouldn’t get a full set of armor from an enemy anyway. It would be only 1 piece.

Here’s what you can do: click ‘Support’ at the top or bottom of the page and ask them to check your account records for how you acquired the armor.

Reviving the Revive Orb

Locked in combat mode for 60 seconds?

It’s bad enough that happens on a regular basis just running through a map, without being downed or killed.

I could get hit by something, or my ranger pet, and even though whatever attacked is far behind me, I’m still stuck in combat mode. I could travel quite a distance and stop at a spot with no hostile creatures around and whatever attacked me is far behind me and the game won’t take me out of combat mode. I could stand there for at least a couple minute and not get out until I travel a bit further. The reason why it’s super annoying is because when you’re in a hurry to get somewhere, your travel speed is severely reduced. It could just be my ranger pet not wanting to let go of aggro on whatever attacked. Don’t know.

It doesn’t really matter if the player is crippled or stuck in combat after using a revive orb, because they both have the same effect: your character walks really really slow, and even swiftness doesn’t help enough in either situation.

It makes life difficult when you’re trying to get to where the action had moved to, but can’t get there in time to get credit for anything because you’re stuck in combat mode and walking slow. I’ve actually got to events just a few seconds too late due to being stuck in combat mode because some piece of trash creature whacked me or my pet as I was trying to make my way across the area.

No way to access Bloodstone Fen without LS?

Bloodstone Fen requires gliding, which requires the Heart of Thorns expansion. Once you complete Living Story season 3 episode 1, you wind up in Bloodstone Fen on an airship. It does have a waypoint, but without gliding it’s a very long way down. Edit: If you do have HoT, but don’t have gliding unlocked yet, it’s not a problem. It only costs 1 mastery point and you get 1 point for completing the LS3 episode 1.

You only need to complete LS3 episode 1 on a single character though. Once you get to Bloodstone Fen you can run around killing random monsters and doing events to get Unbound Magic, which is currency used in that map.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bloodstone_Fen_Portal_Scroll
Costs 1,000 Unbound Magic + 50 silver. It functions exactly like the Captain’s Airship Pass, Noble’s Folly Scroll, and the Royal Terrace pass. It will allow you to teleport to Bloodstone Fen with characters who haven’t even completed the living story episode yet, as long as you completed it on 1 character already to gain access to the map.

Legendary weapons

Since nobody posted a link to the official announcement, I will.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Legendary-weapons-6/first#post6061605

Hi all,

In the upcoming Spring 2016 Quarterly Update, we’ll launch the new legendary short bow, Chuka and Champawat. The team outdid themselves on this one. This new precursor journey takes you through a memorable experience inspired by a real-world story, and the bow you craft at the end is the perfect commemoration of that journey. I hope you all check it out.

Last year we talked about plans to gradually build out a second set of legendary weapons through live content updates. That’s a big responsibility. We have a team of six developers working on that, who could work on it for years to come.

As game director I have to make tough trade-offs. One thing I believe is that we have to focus on the core game first before taking on additional responsibilities. I wrote in the Guild Wars 2 Design Manifesto in 2010 that our vision was to create a living, dynamic world, where there’s always something to do. Let’s ensure we succeed on that front.

So, after shipping Chuka and Champawat, I’ve asked that we indefinitely suspend work on new legendary weapons. This team of developers will instead shift their efforts back to Living World style content, building new journeys and events for everyone to participate in.

I know this will be a controversial decision. I’ll hang out with you here on the forums for a little while today to discuss it. And I’m always available by email.

Go to any WvW map (or edge of the mists) and check your specializations (traits).

Your WvW build is separate from PvE. It was a handy feature they added when they revamped the trait system shortly before HoT launched. The problem is some people don’t know it, and their trait setup was defaulted the first time they entered WvW after the update.

What you want is this:

Trait line: Beastmastery
First column, bottom: Resounding Timbre
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Resounding_Timbre

Shouts apply regeneration and swiftness to allies. Reduces recharge on shouts.

It works for ‘We Heal as One’ since it’s a shout, granting swiftness when used.

I was excited to see in the patch notes today that walls in WVW are getting improved. I say this because it makes me think that Anet has a inkling that there is a problem with walls AND THERE IS! Most fortification fights are at walls not the gates. Because walls in GW2 are the easiest method in taking a fortification. I believe gates should be easier to break through but harder if people defend with siege. But this isn’t the case. So I would like to propose my idea about WVW wall constructs. Where at each tier level a fortification wall will expand its width. Making it so defenders can build siege to defend fortifications that are at higher tier levels. So at tier level 0 and 1 you have the same walls as in the game right now. But at tier level 2 and 3 the walls expand so that defenders can build out side the range of the typical Elementalist AOE skill called meteor shower. This idea if apply’ed will give more incentive for offenders to make their stand at more locations and give defenders a chance to defend vs a force they cant handle. Defenders should always have the initial advantage over a greater force that focuses in one spot. This proposal will make it so the repair hammer that just came out today balanced so that a offending force has a chance to focus in one spot. Repair siege hammers today are a unbalanced idea that cater to bigger number forces. Their needs to be wall changes before repair siege changes.

Speaking of walls, I hope their “improvements” involved a way to prevent hackers from using software that allows them to clip into the walls.

I saw it a few months ago. A small zerg I was with broke through the wall of a castle just to the right of a gate, and a large group of players came to defend it from us. I started attacking a player that went around the corner of the wall so I went around the corner thinking they were on the other side. It turned out a few of them were actually inside the small part of the wall attached to the gate. We could hit them with some AOE, but they had enough healing and support to stay alive. All weapon attacks, no matter what side of the wall I was on, kept saying “obstructed” and my team mates seemed to have the same problem not being able to hit them. While inside the wall they were able to hit us just fine as it seemed their line of sight wasn’t obstructed like ours was.

Sorry for getting off topic.

To get on track, there should be some safeguards in place for repairing siege. I think it’s a great idea, but it shouldn’t be allowed during battles.

Players defending a castle/tower/garrison/etc. should be able to destroy siege to prevent players from breaking through the wall. It wouldn’t be right for a zerg full of supply to keep their catapults and such going as it would make defending the location pointless.

Likewise, players attacking should be able to destroy siege on the walls to have a better chance taking the location from players defending it. It wouldn’t be right to be able to repair siege on a wall when there is a fully stocked supply depot close by.

Siege shouldn’t be repaired when:
The player making the repair is in combat
The siege is being used by another player
The siege itself is in combat (currently being attacked)

For players defending a location, siege shouldn’t be allowed to be repaired in and around the location unless the location is currently not under attack (cross swords icon on the map is gone).

This way, if players are attempting to take a location and successfully drive away the defenders, they can repair their siege and continue without worrying about a lone wolf or 2 coming back to finish destroying the siege. And likewise for player’s siege when defending a location.

Bring back the old school ban-xecutions – If Dhuum is not available then Evon Gnashblade can make them walk the plank. This way, we can at least gain some amusement from the cat and mouse game.

/iamthelaw

No.

I think ArenaNet has said in the past the reason why they don’t do that in GW2 is because in GW1 people would do everything they could to make it happen just to see Dhuum. It ended up with a lot of players being racist and generally abusive, and outright offensive to others just to see a cool animation. It caused more trouble than it was worth.

If any damage was done to Gaile Gray’s GW1 account, it’s hosed.

A few years ago, some time before they shut down the official GW1 support forums, Gaile (or another dev) told a player on the forums that their hacked account couldn’t be restored because the account restoration tool broke and would need to be rebuilt completely from scratch, and that they didn’t have the time and resources to do it.

In one of the Reddit threads the OP linked a poster mentioned it https://www.reddit.com/r/GuildWars/comments/4vwgql/gaile_grays_account_got_taken_over/d62fqdz

Noble's Folly Pass

Um… I’m not sure what you guys are talking about…

I just exited right through the doorway from Noble’s Folly (the shimmering doorway – just walk through it, it’s right where you entered into NF) into Verdant Brink, and soared around for a while and saw lots of players. No issues at all.

Literally, you just walk into the shimmering doorway and it loads you right into Verdant Brink. And that’s after coming from other places in the world, i.e. I didn’t originate in VB.

Yeah. I bought the pass. Earlier I was jut going by information posted by others.

Yes. There is a portal you can just walk into to enter Verdant Brink, and it’s the full VB map.

Also there is an NPC in Noble’s Folly named Warmaster Searle with a purple portal icon above his head that can send you to Lion’s Arch or any of the other racial cities, like the asura gates on the Captain’s Airship and Royal Terrace.

Of course. I exit into VB and 2 minutes later “would you like to move to a populated version of this map?”.

Well, at least my Sylvari ranger has a more suitable home now.

Excess HoT mastery points for LS3

I agree with the OP. Dont add more of one thing that the other. Extras are cool but 10 extras for 1 point is a very slippery slope…

This is the problem, added 7 mastery points for a mastery track that requires 1 point, and the required point was even rewarded for completing the mission to get to Bloodstone Fen.

No, the problem is you’re assuming that the 7 mastery points are for a mastery track that requires only 1 point. Do you not see the silliness in that assumption? You seem to be under the impression that there has to be an equal amount of mastery points available as there are masteries to spend them on… what dev ever stated that this was to be the case?

The other 6 are most likely for what many other people have said: more options to get your MPs. I don’t see that as a bad thing. The second most likely is for upcoming additional mastery tracks… also not a bad thing that they can be achieved early. Ymmv.

~EW

Exactly. Only living story season 3 episode 1 was released. More will probably added to the new mastery requiring those extra points you just got.

The problem I see coming: by the time LS3 has been fully released, you’ll wind up in the same situation you are now. Sure, you could use the extra mastery points for the old HoT mastery line now, or save them for when they add more to this new mastery.

In the end you’re going to have to do content you don’t want to do and/or is too challenging for you, such as raids or adventures, in order to have all HoT masteries completed.

I don’t even have all HoT masteries filled myself. In fact, I don’t have a single HoT mastery completed to max tier. I started doing the HoT story line, but kept getting hung up in Verdant Brink. I couldn’t progress the story until I had a specific mastery unlocked, which involved grinding XP for the mastery and having to figure out how to get mastery points around the map. So I did, but then after completing the next episode or 2 I wound up having to unlock the next tier of the mastery, which of course involved having to get even more mastery points than the last tier. And it required you to have certain tiers in different masteries for specific thinks, like bouncing mushrooms or updraft use for gliding. I pretty much gave up at that point due to constantly hitting roadblocks in the HoT personal story.

Sure, I could forget about the HoT story, and go straight to LS season 3 and get those mastery points in Bloodstone Fen, but for HoT I’m still gonna hit roadblocks.

Right now, I need a total of 20 mastery points to get the last 2 tiers of gliding, 12 more points to get the final tier of Itzel Lore, 15 more for Exalted Lore, haven’t started on Nuhoch Lore at all so I need another 31 points for that, and I don’t have Forsaken Thicket mastery unlocked yet but it looks like that’s another 8 I need.

Counting the new mastery, it looks like I need around 87 HoT mastery points to complete all of them, and I only have 7 to spend right now. I only need 2 more points for Central Tyria to have that complete, but all the ones available are locked behind achievements that are too difficult to get, or game modes I don’t care to play.

Thanks ArenaNet.

How many people left for Blade & Soul when it was released to the west? Not enough to make a difference. In fact, some of them came back and said it wasn’t all it was hyped up to be.

I imagine it will be the same with this new game. To be honest I don’t think I’ve ever heard of this new game.

Isn’t it against the forum rules to discuss other games here?

I just had a thought.

It sounds like this Noble’s Folly functions like a home instance. I imagine if you were able to break out of a home instance into the city, you’d probably find the entire city rendered without any NPCs.

A comment on Dulfy’s site said

that_Shaman on reddit says:
“If you manage to break out of Noble’s Folly you’ll find a completely deserted Verdant Brink.”

So there goes the selling point of a quick load all in one area.

And another comment

I posted a new comment above, people get out of map and find the entire VB map rendered (except mobs and updrafts).

It sounds like Noble’s Folly and Verdant Brink is a single map but its own instance. And if you manage to break out of Noble’s to get into VB you’ll find the whole environment rendered for VB but no NPCs, glider updrafts, or monsters.

So what’s the point of having VB fully rendered if you’re not suppose to get to it from Noble’s Folly? That’s a lot of extra stuff being loaded that serves no purpose, even if you manage to break out of the Noble’s Folly area.

Embed shared bag option?

Charrbeque.8729

I haven’t tried it (mine is greyed-out), but I thought it would only apply when using the ‘Hide Bags’ option. /shrug

That’s the problem. As you can see in the patch notes, it says nothing about it only working if you have your bags hidden.

I hate having my bags hidden. I have different bags for crafting materials, junk items, and invisible bag, as well as having various items I always carry with me in a specific bag. If I have my bags hidden, everything would wind up as 1 giant mess of crap.

Edit: I also don’t see any option to move the shared slots to the bottom of the window. You could be right that these new options are only available if your bags are hidden. But I have my inventory window set up just the way I like it. Hopefully they can find a way to make it work when bags aren’t hidden.

The Shared Inventory Slots can now be dragged to either the beginning or the end of the inventory. An additional Embed Shared Bag option in the inventory Options menu allows players to keep Shared Inventory Slots on their own row or have them embedded into the bag-slot grid view.

Oh. Sounds like that’s what I was hoping for. Where the shared slots won’t move when I scroll through my inventory.

But it seems to be bugged as that isn’t happening (Embed option grayed out and can’t use). Probably because of how I have my inventory sized?
