I guess this season I am on the losing side of MMR, currently my stats are 28 games and only 8 wins. Currently on a 8 loss streak. About 80% of my losses are complete blowouts. Never had this issue the last season.
Nope.
Message Body length must at least be 15.
I stopped playing the maps in HoT because of the grind required to unlock the specializations, which made me reduce the amount of alts I play.
I also struggle a lot with maps that use a lot of vertical space, so I still haven’t figured out how to fully explore the tangled depths.
You can’t drop down a league, you can only drop down tiers. And the rewards for progressing a tier are only awarded once.
I think you guys are horribly overreacting. I read the patch notes myself, and immediately though “From a PVE perspective, this doesn’t mean a darn thing for me”. The tweaks are minor and in the grand scheme mean little to nothing for any of the classes that were changed.
I take it you don’t play Mesmer, right? Persistence of Memory went from a six second reduction in phantasm recharge to three: and that’s under the most optimal settings. I wouldn’t call a 50 percent reduction minor.
Usually, when a game is going down hill, it pulls crap like GW2 does. Over inflates its cash shop with things that, in all honesty, should be a part of the game (primarily glider skins come to mind, there should be craftable ones for each armor profession, order ones from the order vendors, profession ones, SOMETHING, to help lessen the blow of HoTs lack of non-gem customization content).
Celebrate your victory over Sabetha by buying her mini from the gemstore!
It doesn’t really matter if Mesmer damage is nerfed anyway because people don’t bring them for damage anyway. They have one of the lowest DPS in a raid but their utility is very overpowered. Hense why the utilities are being adjusted. They were overpowered in PvE and pretty much provide a significant dps boost to raids.
I’m now 20-11. I love playing teams of 5 with unlimited sustain vs a group of pugs. 5 man teams should only play the same.
The reason I hate the “pip” system, is EVERY time I lose, i lose a pip. 5 man team vs pugs? Take a -1 pip. It’s not a very well designed system as a whole.
I really enjoyed the first system to where close matches would be 0 pip losses. Now its you either lose a pip or win a pip. There is no incentive to play if you’re being slaughtered.
Not sure why they got rid of the system.
How do you expect a melee centric class to kite a warrior when they regenerate health at insane rates and your only source of damage is to get infront of the warrior, whom will spam burns.
Yeah I guess warrior isn’t broken if you’re ranged.
I’ve 1v1’d condi wars as both thief and rev. Only one I don’t know is engi? Can any scrappers speak up?
But if that is one hard counter, hardly makes it OP. Most classes hard counter at least one build. I would think scrapper could 1v1 a bow build, but maybe not the full melee wars.
No you’re just facing bad warriors. Here’s feed back from one of the top players who is in the legendary leagues.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/4jxmrv/pvp_class_tier_list_5172016/d3afpg4
“We’ve been trying to decide what to do with our Warrior. If you watch our match from Monday where we lost to PZ, using it as a far point monkey was incredibly effective. Nothing can kill it 1v1, you can easily plus one it with a Thief or Revenant if they try to put an Elementalist or Engineer against it.”
Tbh it all depends on how you use the tools given to you.
There’s more to a match than just flat damage. A mallyx/glint revenant can do anywhere between 450k damage and 400k+ condition damage (totaling 850k) in addition to removing 800+ boons. The Boon strip that mallyx does relieves a lot of pressure off the team, can literally flip the entire fight depending if you strip something like 20+ might stack.
If it was all about damage, then you should roll another class as there are better damage dealers if you’re not fulfilling your role.
Metabattle may be outdated at the moment due to the fact that an amulet was just removed, which changes the meta builds overall; which means a new rev build may come into play that performs better with the current meta.

The match rating is the best design I have seen for an MMORPG. Nobody is claiming it is flawless, but when you compare this to World of Warcraft or the other RPGS, this one is miles ahead.
LoL is not an MMORPG if you’re going to try to claim that is better.
The system takes factor for full premades vs duo queue, it raises their MMR to be higher to compensate the difference. In other words, your teammates were likely better players than the premade in terms of SOLO MMR.
The fact you got a close match really show how well the MMR match system is.
Conditions have always been spammable to the point where they cannot be removed effectively.
I can’t think of any time where conditions where not overpowered
Warriors are pretty ridiculous though.
It happens when the downed person lagged. Although, once you hit Ruby and Diamond, pretty much everyone in that bracket has a stable connection and you never see this happen.
Also, the “stuck bug” everyone refers to only happens when you jump and get stunned mid air typically. As soon as you stop spamming jumps like a mad man, the glitch never happens.
So basically, you’re not good enough to proceed in leagues. Not everyone can be legendary =/
Last night I went from amber to 2 tiers from sapphire on a 11 win streak. It’s pretty clear that if you are high MMR, you wont face people that are close matches if they have progressed beyond Amber.
The issue is, high MMR players whom start the season late, such as the more casual ones will cause very lopsided matches. I won 11 games in a row, a signficant majority was complete blowouts. The enemy was so far off in terms of skill, it was as bad as hotjoins.
So what happens is, new PvP players and the lower end PVP bracket will get complete lopsided matches that it wont be fun for them anymore.
Essentially, in order to get fair matches when you’re not a high end PvP player you will have to wait a few weeks for the top players to progress.
All of this would be fixed if they allowed top players keep their progress each season; such as keeping ruby and diamond (reset pip progress) and reset leaderboard; then everyone is happy. No more lopsided matches, and casual PvP players like myself won’t ruin the experience of these players.
For a PvP game to be sucessful, you need to make it fun for the low end PVP tiers too! If people feel they wont be rewarded or unfair matches unless they are the best player in the world, less players will play and overall it harms PvP.

It’s called RNG, it varies sometimes.
Eventually after many games in Unranked your match rating (that is currently hidden) will adjust so you are grouped with other players with similiar win rates and skill to yourself.
You can sell them in the trading post for about a silver each, so they’re not completely worthless.
Your processor is very outdated if you are expecting to get 80+ fps in all areas. I get 140-260fps in open areas with 970 x2 SLI
You have 2 minutes to reconnect before getting dishonor. This duration is a fine balance between load times, and how long someone can be gone without causing a loss.
what about someone who disconnected right before their team won?
for example,
evan was in blue team, leading at 490 team points, crushing red team at 100 team points.the team score ticks 498 but evan was disconnected due to client crash etc.
evan gets a loss and branded as a deserter.now tell me, how would evan feel?
Well, considering that it was less than 2 minutes, that person would get a win and get no penalities.
But when do we address Pug vs Premade?
The Losing of pips wouldn’t be that bad if they were even matches.
Effectively, the league system is the same as this:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/finding-the-perfect-match/
The irony is there is so many players that you rarely get more than +1, instead you get -2 games. But the point here is, even if you lose against a premade you can win league pips, in theory.
Are there any plans to change amber rank to not display an emblem? There is a lot of players who don’t really PvP and stuck with it for a whole season.
I honestly do not see a problem with the MMR, out of the 30+ matches I have done not a single one was against a full premade, which is amazing.
My biggest issue is how I have high MMR, and it takes so long to progress through the divisions. Is there any plans to make high MMR players progress through up to ruby at an accelarated pace? That would fix a lot of problems, including the match manipulation.
There is also a rumor that unranked shares MMR with rated, so they are purposely losing unranked and then queue ranked, but not sure if that is true.
If they reset MMR, people would have complained they are being matches with the best players or grouped with bad players because the MMR is fresh.
Except when Solo Queue was in the game people complained queue times were long for teams, so in either case they can’t win.
This is precisely why they wait until they see the statistics of usage of each class and build before doing balance.
in Beta, especially during the beta weekends people thought revenants were extremly underpowered and practically useless.
Revenants are overpowered themselves, it’s the issue with having multiple revenants in the party causing permanent 25 might stack.
It matches you against a team with a similar MMR, meaning if your team is bad there are also bad players on the enemies team. Which you could then easily 2v1 and carry the entire game.
Your goal is to pressure the enemy team, if it takes 2 or 3 people to kill you then that leaves the other “bad” players opportunities to cap far point for you. Such as going after far point, I would never stay there to complete the cap; decap it and move back to mid as that puts pressure on mid and they get 0 points until they send someone back for 20 seconds to recap it.

The biggest problem is that the bad players think they are decent and blame their teammates for losing instead of accepting the fact that they’re just not good themselves.
So unfortunately, you may get a lot of trash talk until you reach the PvP bracket to were people are actually decent.
But sometimes, you do lose really because of bad players… If you can’t see their errors and think that if someone’s yelling, he must be a noob… that’s some good stubborn attitude!
When you see a Mesmer who’s just doing AA with his GS while there’s 2 enemies I’ve downed… and you see him keep AA-ing while I get downed by them and slowly stomped… and he’s still behind you or next to you, still doin AA… I’m sorry but I’m not gonna tell myself that I’m bad and the mesmer was a decent player, and that it was my fault to not be able to 1v3/4…
Blaming as loss on someone else is not acknowledging you need to improve. I have solo’d my way to the top many times and the truth is if you were decent at PvP you can carry your team, even the bad players until your MMR stabilizes.
I have tested this on a fresh f2p account, started from nothing and within 2 hours I was back at the same MMR my main account was.
My biggest wish is to make the premades much more visible because I have done over 20 games and not a SINGLE match was against a premade against pugs.
The lines at the end of the match show you whom is grouped, I have never seen a match with 5 in a premade and 0 in a team on my side.
So that way people can stop complaining on a non existent issue on the forums
They aren’t invisible, you can see the effect. Perhaps you should check your vision with your local optometrist in your area.

What’s funny is Metabattle thought Shiro Revenants were better.
But where are you seeing this leadboard?
Dota? LoL? Why compare to other MMOs that aren’t aiming to be Esports?
Those are not MMO’s, they are MOBAS.
Stop comparing GW2 to other crap games. It doesn’t make GW2 a good game. You compare with other GOOD games to know where GW2 is falling short. Which is everywhere.
Please tell me what other good games out there are.
If you actually played any other MMO out there, you would have known that GW2 simply has the best MMR system out of any of them.
Pretty obvious that these people never had a look on other online games.
Makes me sick the amount of people bashing GW2 when actually it has always done a great job in all the aspects of the game in comparison to the other hundreds of mmos.
Indeed. The best part about it in my opinion is how it encourages you to play even if it is a certain loss. It is not plain black and white, where you only gain rank on a win or loss. If you get a close match you don’t lose any rank and sometimes gain depending if the MMR predicted a loss.
Every other game I played I could literally tell who would win before the match started simply off the classes in the game.
If you actually played any other MMO out there, you would have known that GW2 simply has the best MMR system out of any of them.
The entire league and ranking system works based off your total score at the end of the match. If you face against a premade of 5 and lose by 150 points, you will actually gain ranking as if you won.
So there is no purpose to resigning.
He is only laughing because Dragon Hunters aren’t viable in “pro level” pvp, they are pretty much “Cooldown Cannons”
It doesn’t matter, the system will eventually even you out to 50/50% win rate.
I have played ranked matches for the first time in three years today and lost 11 in a row. How long do you think it will take until the system realizes that I am pretty clueless in pvp and match me against other losers? (Honest question and number not exaggerated)
When the other bad players queue in and lose the same, you will be matched with them and eventually even out to 50/50
Can you explain to me what is currently overpowered at the moment? I have not seen any classes that should be nerfed.
There is also an issue with the division of good and bad players in the game, people don’t honestly really know what is overpowered until ranked matches happen and there is more visibility for the builds.
As an example, a lot of players think dragonhunter is very overpowered, but it is quite weak in the high tier PvP. A game should not be balanced off the low tier PvP bracket.
Honestly, Revenant is beyond broken and overpowered. I did nearly 800k damage in one match with one:
http://i.imgur.com/m15ryez.jpg
I don’t understand how they thought having access to 2 stacks of stability and retaliation on dodge that applies might on hit is even remotely balanced. With the amount of resistance I get, I feel virtually immune to other condition builds.
looks like they did remove it , they dont want us to see their bad designed matchmaking system.
This is exactly my point, people are just making up BS that they are fighting against a premade. This new “Details” screen only shows up if there are people in a party when they are in the match.
In other words, you thought it was removed because you haven’t been facing any premades… sounds like the system is working, like it always has.
(edited by Chase.8415)
I got really tired of the posts of people claiming they are facing premades when they weren’t aware that there was a premade on their same team of the same size. Now that the game shows you who is in a premade (via the details screen) people will have no excuse why they lost now
People like this were the main reason why the game took so long to hit Beta before it was released (the main game, not the expansion.) because the fact the matter is people are less likely to complain about something if they do not know what has been changed.
If ArenaNet released the game at 250 instead of 400, a lot of people would have been happier and there wouldn’t be people complaining about nerfs.
It’s your choice to follow the changes anyway, if you think you should get 400 before getting everything unlocked then thats okay. Go ahead and not unlock anything until you reach 400 points and its exactly the same as before.
I am not really seeing an issue with that screenshot, but this game has horrible resolutions support beyond 1080p. I suggest setting your NVIDIA to not scale and maintain aspect ratio so it letterboxes the sides and makes it a normal 16:9 monitor.
Except when you queue as a team you are signficantly more likely to face another team, so that way it evens out at 50% win rate.
A match rating system is broken if everyone can’t obtain 50% win rate. That’s the goal of every system. If you’re getting more than 50% win rate, then that suggests the system is broken or you’re better than most people and don’t play enough to maintain a high rank in the leaderboard.
I think they should add more tiers to it, I pretty much don’t play any class that I’ve already completed the title on because I want to get all 9 of them.
Sorry I must have missed the bit with the facts and the evidence. All I hear is “waaa waaa I’m losing to condition builds”.
There are so many options for removal, on every class.
The problem is that you refuse to change your build.
Sigh. Another person who completely misses the point. Condi spam is skill-less. It is easy. Most of it is AOE in nature. Oh, and by the way, you can also spec defensively and still have a spike condi burst.
Condi is the easier way to play PvP and therefore the easiest way to gain MMR. There is no arguing that.
That is why you stack on vitality instead of protection. The Maurader’s Amulet is perfect for that.
I have always been in the high MMR so I don’t know how much of a problem it really is but, many of the really powerful condition builds require you to be in a specific position (like traps). The only other deadly conditions I have seen are burns from guardians.
You don’t even see many engineers anymore because the coditions they apply aren’t that great anymore, everyone is focusing on burns.
I don’t think its actually active right now to be honest/
