Windows provides an excellent feature to flip the monitor from one side to another for people who have difficulties reading from right to left, or in this case getting a sense of dysphoria from watching a right hand attack.
It gives you 3 hours before updating. It makes perfect sense that you cannot join a party with a different client version. I suggest you should not attempt to relog during an update unless everyone is doing the same.
Unfortunately making hints explaining the term unique wont resolve anything. If it were that simple, stickies in forums would actually work. When it comes down to it, this is simply user error. If you noticed that there were rings with Offensive and Defensive, with the same stats… logic would tell you that you cant have duplicate rings.
They also specifically state they are unique.
This has been discussed before.
A lot of people were complaining that it shouldn’t give you an option to buy something you already have, because it’s no use. However, this is not true. You can give that ring to your alt and it can equip it.
As opposed to former games, you could not simply obtain items that were unique and pass it to your alt.
You can also buy the ring on an alt…so you cut down on errors. These vendors are easy enough to get to for everyone. So it doesn’t allow one character to buy it, but since the tokens are account bound, you can save people some heartache.
Those rings are not only from the vendor, you can also obtain them from drops inside Fractal of The Mists LvL 20+. If you were to change the rings to be only bought on separate characters, this would mean you could not obtain rings by FOTM unless you specifically went with your alt.
Again, this is a fantastic feature of Guild Wars and I do not wish it to be limited or disabled due to a user error.

I don’t want a great feature to be disabled because of a minute user error.
The PvP Leaderboards are not based off hot-join, they are based off ranked PvP matches. The whole doom and gloom scenarios you guys don’t really apply to tournament matches.
Here we go again with the “because it’s broken in PvP we must nerf it in PvE”…
I thought PvP was clearly separated from PvE…
It was overpowered in both areas.
All ascended gear is aimed for fractals, it makes no sense why anyone would run defensive or vitality builds. Fractals get so tough to the point where it doesn’t matter how much health you have, you have to pay for your mistakes.
A lot of the fractal enemies abilities and agony as well scales by your health, so having more health would only make it harder for you to use self healing.
The only way I see this happening legitimately is in wvw.
I see maybe 2 dead players in pve exploration and one will waypoint away before I can get to them.
Rezzing an NPC feels like cheating. People are jumping off cliffs for each other at 3:30 server time to get this done.
I think 10 is far more than most players could accomplish through natural playing.
Resurrecting an NPC is cheating, but suicide off a cliff is not. I see how this works now….
Yesterday I got 3 level 80 rare in 30 min from a starter area with level 80 char. Today I’m getting low level white loot from the same zone. Anyone know the new loot mechanics. Do only dynamic events loot scales to char level?
This is exactly the kind of statistically relevant, well-conducted research on drop rates that makes me completely ignore the complaints about how the loot system would be “bugged”.
Computers cannot be truly random yet, it is very possible for drop rates to be “bugged” so to speak.
If you buff everyone to the state of warriors, then PVP will consist of 3 second battles.
Actually, I really like the new downscaling changes. It’s difficult enough to not make you yawn, but it still is pretty clear you’re more powerful than your downscaled level.
I can play the game with my boyfriend at all levels and not feel like he can’t hit anything, like last time. Before I would kill things before he even had a chance to tag them.
I really like how the rewards are always for your level now, I don’t feel like I’m wasting my time.
That is one of the biggest reasons why I love Guild Wars. Your level is honestly irrelevant, you don’t completely make all of the content obsolete just because you’re at max level.
I do realize that a lot of people prefer to feel strong and want to destroy everything, but there are plenty of other games that achieve that result. You can’t complain about something in Guild Wars 2 when it was heavily advertised before the game was even sold.
They’re not bugged, it’s used for culling issues in PvE. Before you would have a ton of lootable corpses on the ground that caused framerate lag over a simple common drop.
Now when the game detects that there is too much corpses, it converts all of the bodies into chests. It does not matter if they are uncommon or greater.
If this is true, then why do patch notes not state so? The notes clearly state that chests spawn for loot uncommon or higher, and that lesser rarities remain on the bodies. If it was related to culling, we would also be seeing them everywhere during large events (Orr temples and dragons), but I just did the Claw of Jormag with a large group, and no such chests. Culling of players and enemy corpses was still very apparent, however.
There are a lot of things in the game not stated in the patch notes.

The math is incorrect, the skills cannot be used more than once, and they do not rely on order. Your “simple” math is, well a simple way to actually calculate the possible options.
The correct possible amount of combinations on your example is actually 83,218,600,080
If anyone is familiar with this, it’s called a permutation.
There is no reason to get ascended gear except for the agony resistance. Using any type of defensive build in a fractal is detrimental since agony scales to your health, rather than a flat value.
That is why a lot of the stats are offensive, because it simply does not make sense for anyone to run a tank centered stat build in a fractal. The only way to survive the higher levels in fractals is to simply NOT get hit.
The thing you don’t understand is… Why wouldn’t both be possible? The game provides good gameplay for less competetive players, but nothing for competetive players? You naysayers are looking at it in a wrong perspective. If you want to play for fun, then fine you do that. But don’t stop other players from having their own way of fun.
They cannot both be possible.
A hardcore player in this game is equivalent to someone having a legendary. It is entirely cosmetic, yet we all know exactly what they did to get it. But its not enough is it? You want an advantage… you want to stand out even more!
You’re asking for something for hardcore players that makes them stand out from the rest, the only way you could do that is with gear upgrades. I would lose my fun the moment I log on to the game and realize I can’t do anything without dedicating more than 15 hours a week.
My time for “hardcore” gaming is now over, I am now 19 years old and I simply cannot afford to dedicate my time to a video game. As I said before, the only reason I play Guild Wars 2 is because I can log on and play on my alts and friends and feel like I’m not wasting my time.
This is the very reason I have spent over $500 in this game, from gifts to friends to gems. This is the most expensive game I have ever bought in arbitrary value, and it is worth every single penny. I did not gain any advantage, but the experiences I have ventured in Tyria is what made it worth it.
Fact the matter is, us “casuals” could care less about your conquest to get the best gear. So why should we be punished for hardcore players, in an arguably casual game.
Changing the manifesto of Guild Wars 2 would break the game for me and many others.

I’ve been seeing this a lot recently and quite frankly I find it ridiculous.
You’re asking for a game that gives you the illusion of “difficult” content, which in return will force you to grind for hours in a day just to participate in the content. Fair enough, but what happens when you finish all of that grinding and “complete” the endgame?
You are in the exact same spot. When you finish all of that content and have nothing else to grind on, you want more. It’s an endless cycle that can never be satisfied. You are playing a game.
Don’t believe me? See what happened in World of Warcraft, they implemented the dungeon finder. It was too hard and they balanced it so more could complete it. The general public was finishing all of the dungeons and now they wanted to pug raids.
Now they finished LFR and they want more, it’s an endless cycle.
I am sorry to tell you, that this is a game built for casuals in mind. The only reason I play this game is because of the fact that I feel like I’m not trapped, I can work on my alts and play with my friends and honestly feel like I’m not wasting my time.
The fact the matter is, everything you do in this game is a waste of time. Even in the other games, all it takes is one content update and your entire progress is destroyed and the grind restarts. When you quit the game, all you have done was for nothing.
So why waste your life grinding on a game no one really cares about? If you want to make a difference, you’re not going to do it in a game.
I know this has been said a million times in other types of forums, telling you to search. But I’ll be honest, the search in this forum is probably the best I have ever seen.
BAsed on forum searches, the answers are this:
Laurels come in February. There is a system to convert your previous achievements into laurels, but due to some achievements being abused they have to test it for the later months ahead. It’s actually the worst I’ve ever seen.
Laurels start on the 28th but don’t award laurels for January since it would be unfair to those that finished it in the first couple days of the month.
It has already been stated that the laurels will start in February for monthlys. The dailies of course will start on the 28th. You will gain no benefit for waiting until the patch to complete the monthly, because you will get nothing other than the standard reward of 15 mystic coins.
Technically you’re not supposed to use anyone’s name, including yourself because it is in a fantasy setting. You could report many peoples names for violating the terms, any real life reference is considered a bannable offence.
However, contrary to popular belief; the game masters do not ban people for silly reasons.

The patch is 1/28/2013, while I have not seen any solid confirmations what we do know is:
Laurels will be available on the February monthly.
Guesting is coming on the 28th.
Fractal improvements is on the next build, which is the 28th.
The patch is in January, so we can only assume it will happen between now and next month.
So, based on assumptions we can say TOMMORROW is the patch day =)
I use basic hardware and equipment. It’s never stopped me from anything, honestly.
Guild Wars 2 only has a maximum of 10 keybinds, there’s no reason to get expensive keyboards.
If you really want a good keyboard, I’d suggest
The Microsoft Sidewinder X4 keyboard. I originally had the G15 from a Christmas present from my boyfriend, but a drop of water got inside the keys and destroyed it. So I went and bought a budget keyboard that had illuminated keys, at the time this was the cheapest keyboard that had illuminated keys and was designed for gaming. It is also essentially water proof.

When I’m playing on my laptop, I use a Playstation 3 controller. Since I have a touchscreen laptop, all of the clicking is done with the screen and all of the movement is done with the controller. It’s not perfect because of the horrible camera in this game, but it’s rather fun.
It also has 6 macro keys, while I do not use them ingame… they are an absolute GODSEND for the batch scripts I run on a daily basis.

Not sure why a minority of group members can kick another player.
I don’t understand it either. I was in a fractal group awhile back and 2 members from another guild kicked our entire group of OUR 3 guild members
That’s right TWO OUT OF FIVE PEOPLE, kicked THREE.
There was no reason for them to kick us other than to be malicious, because we ran the entire level 24 fractal without ZERO wipes. We also finished the swamp fractal in 3 attempts.
We reported and no action was taken.

This seems to be a problem with many games I have played now, including the other MMO’s. I recently played World of Warcraft for example and the introduction quests to Mist of Pandaria (coincidentally, those are the quests you can do during a trial) was absolutely amazing. It felt like you were in the story, but once you got further in the game it quickly became an annoying segmented story that didn’t make much sense other than mindless grinding.
The only thing close to a story in an MMO I have ever experienced is from this game with Personal Stories.
A few months of farming? Let’s be reasonable now, that’s a bit farfetched. You could get 100 gold within 2 weeks in less than 4 hours a day if you were serious about it.
Why nerf when you can buff?
Buffs make people happy. So why not
Because that’s not the easiest way. It’s like vertical progression vs horizontal. Why make a new dungeon/raid with 10-15 different armor/weapon skins but the same stats when you can make just 3 different armor/weapon skins (heavy, medium and light) but then put different, bigger numbers on them.
It’s easier to just nerf a class into oblivion and then give them light buffs to make them viable again than it is to buff another class and deal with the repercussions of that.
Several skills that are “nerfed” today are still in use in endgame. I have yet to see a nerf so bad it essentially removed a class from the game. There is always benefits to taking a certain class, regardless of their damage.
The current use of engineers in Fractals atm is…?
And before them: the use necros in end game was…?
I just bring whatever I want in fractals and I’ve had no troubles at level 24 in doing so. Which brings up another point, I have yet to see any content in this game become “impossible” because we didn’t have a particular class.

If you’re looking for a game with constant grind and the philosophy of making even more grind to keep you playing longer, this is not the game for you.
This is no different than being in a raiding guild in World of Warcraft and finishing all of the heroic content.
“Achievements don’t mean anything.”
That’s like saying “winning don’t mean anything”
Achievements show you made progress in a certain area. Just cause there are no rewards for that achievement, it doesn’t mean anything?
Achievements really don’t mean anything though. You can completely PAD your achievements. You can have 10,000 achievements in a week if you spend the gold. No one see’s what achievements you had, and the achievements themselves aren’t anything challenging. You know?
Like… Killing 1000 mobs, ok.. Well, that’s cool. But not really something I care about. If maybe there was an achievement for not taking damage during a certain boss fight and getting a title, maybe you were doing some hard escort mission the person you were escort didn’t get downed, or maybe doing a jumping puzzle in under a certain time. Just SOMETHING more than just “Oh you explored this area” “Oh you killed x amount of creeps”.
But it doesn’t matter, even if you get it.. You cant show anyone. Sure you can see the overall numbers but, those don’t mean anything. I can have 10,000 achievements points but it’s ALL from salvaging things. So… What’s it matter?
Perhaps you should check the upcoming features, they plan on making achievements a possibility in getting ascended quality gear and more.
Want to boost morale within GW2? Get Anet to drop DR and you’ll see a huge boost in morale overnight.
On the contrary, the DR is what makes me love this game even more.
I don’t feel like I’m forced to grind for hours to keep up with content.
My computer is roughly $800 USD and runs this game on 30-50 frames at 1900×1080 on supersampling.
Comparing a single player game to an MMO is ridiculous, there are tons of performance eating commands used in an MMO that a single player game does not have.
Don’t have the philosophy that you’re carrying all of the team; it is impossible. A lot of the fractal mechanics rely on 3-5 people and it would be unlikely for you to carry anyone.
With that being said, if you don’t put the effort into making groups and leading people you will not get far. I got my group to Level 23 strictly on pugs and we have a small 10 man guild.
The best way to get groups is to lead people. No one likes the burden of having to explain strategies and recruit people. There’s dozens of people looking for a group compared to someone starting a group.
Can I see your “research”? There has only been one MMO that has been shutdown on Ncsofts end as far as I know and that was due to legal reasons with the game developer.
Active MMOS by ncsoft:
Aion
City of Heroes
Lineage
Lineage II
Guild Wars
Guild Wars 2
Blade and Soul
Also Tera IS lineage III, considering a lot of the code from the game was stolen.
You also keep insisting that people who buy gems with gold aren’t funding areanet and that is not true. Every gem you buy from the cash shop with GOLD indirectly comes from a player that sold their gems for GOLD.
In other words, those gems are paid for either way… even if you just use gold.
Furthermore, Guild Wars classic was “dead” in content updates from 2008-2012 and it’s still hanging strong. There hasn’t been an “expansion worth” of updates to guild wars classic in YEARs.
I think you’re just being overdramatic
(edited by Chase.8415)
I actually like Guild Wars 2 better when it comes to skill selection. It feels for the most part that every skill in the game has a use one way or another. In classic, it was common to have several skills that simply did not make sense to even try to use.
My only complaints is the trait system giving a specific stat each tier, it kind of forces you to go one path.
With the current information we can assume that guesting will make Fractals easier, since you wouldn’t have to rely on an overflow. However, you can only guest two servers a day.
The good news is though, that if you guest on a realm that is full you have a higher chance of being redirected to an overflow map… making it even easier to form fractal groups.
I agree with this 100%
It seems like every dungeon I run someone finds an exploit and somehow everyone in the game knows about it except myself.
I’m getting quite tired of these exploits, they keep fixing them and people find more.
On the contrary, because there was no LFG tool I have seen people openly admit they’ve never done the content before without having fear of being kicked.
On top of that, I also have cross server friends and people in the guild that I continually do endgame content with. If there was a LFG tool, I’d feel quite alone because anyone could simply “queue” in town all day and progress further and leave others behind.
Basically if you sit to long you get fat which in return kills you more than others.
I’m not fat, so basically I’m not at risk for sitting too long.
Dungeons are casual, if you want something more hardcore… try fractals. Fruthmroe there are several dungeons other than AC, that do not have a one hit death mechanic.
I like the lack of healers in this game and I love my guardian because I can heal and dps at the same time. I like how I can form groups within minutes because I don’t have to wait for a healer or tank.
I actually kind of felt forced to play a healer or tank in other games, because I didn’t have enough time to sit around and wait or schedule raids over one specific person.
The same reason you can chill ice elementals, or burn fire elementals. Laziness.
Or maybe the players are tired of being gimped over “lore”.
It’s not fun facing an enemy only to find out your main dps is now destroyed due to “realism” in a game with magic and backpacks with over 120 slots.
Now play for another 1-2 months and do another review…
I think it might be a tad different
4 months and counting and still love the game.
The only healing power I have is the stats from the divinity runes and lunari circle of the moon.
I find this games economy one of the best around. It seems as long as I do something I will always earn gold.
You don’t need gold other than gear, and I’ll be honest with you. I still have rares and GREENS in level 22 fractals.
If we are trolling, for the word unique.. Why drop twice again at all?
If truly “Unique” there can be no other
Because this game ecnoruages the enrollment of alts, by making several items “Account Bound” instead of character bound.
You are also able to play on your main and transfer over trophies and more through the bank. This includes extra rings from fractals as well, as long as you did not equip them,
Forcing the game to prevent unique items from dropping again would only make it tedious and harder for gearing alts.
Unique is not something new to games, it doesn’t make sense to make it harder to transfer items to your alts just because someone was new and didn’t know what the term unique ment.
Then you must not be really doing fractals, there are vast changes in boss mechanics each tier and sometimes levels.
I use 30 Toughness and 30 Valor with 10 Virutes.
I have about 74% Critical Damage as well with this, I haven’t finished getting full exotics yet but right now it seems to be very strong even in level 20+ fractals.
Raids aren’t good for this game for several reasons:
A. It promotes class composition, forcing friends and guilds to abandon certain people because they weren’t a guardian, for example.
B. The graphics of the game is higher than the normal standard and with the amount of combat there is in the game with having to dodge and everything, would be a FPS nigmare.
C. This game is intended to be a bridge between casual and hardcore. I am a casual myself for example, playing about 2 hours a day. When you implement raids, they generally take HOURS to complete. Not only that, you have to schedule several players and HOPE they show up on time.
D. It indirectly destroy small guilds, because no one will even attempt to wait out until the guild gets slightly larger before raiding. Currently, small guilds like mine can progress. My guild for example has 8 members and we are at LvL 20 FOTM.
Not to mention the 5 man content is difficult in itself, I don’t see a reason what makes a difference.
I disagree, I think a 10 or 15 man large scale instance would be interesting. Imagine the delicious tears when the battles are 20 mobs vs 15 players… only now the mobs are meant to kill the players rather than be filler for an event.
If there were hard-mode open world events that scaled horizontally (think siege weapons, waves of large monsters amidst threatening smaller mobs, strict time limits, etc) I would be pleased.
If you really want raids, then try Fractals.
You honestly see more things change than health each level. Once you get passed 20, it’s more of a progression because of agony.
It is a exploit if you salvage more materials back than you originally had when you crafted it.
Simply put.
They knew what they were doing, justice got served so gold doesn’t inflate to the point where it’s impossible to get anything out of the cash shop without cash.
