I have the largest possible size Norn and I have yet to experience any serious difficulties.
Ugh, spectating in hot joins really makes you learn nothing
I get complaints at work everyday in tech support in how much people hate windows 7.
Seriously, there’s really nothing you can do to convince the people to like windows 8,if they fear the change. No sense in arguing, it’s pretty obvious that some of these people have no clue how computers work or “inspiring technicians” that just read the first chapter of their certifications booklets.
Windows 8 performs faster on guild wars 2. There’s simply nothing you can do to change this fact.
You got an email about it. It is most likely that a spam filter prevented it from being sent. Also, when it comes to inappropriate language, the bans are not automated. A game master looked at chat logs and determined that you needed suspension.
Also the most common way to get banned for inappropriate language is trash talking in PvP, generally people call each other the derogatory “f” word and end up getting banned quite quickly, assuming its not innapropiate because everyone else does it.

unfortunately not, Touch is a relatively new technology in terms of personal computers and pretty much any game with a camera will not function and spin sporadically when trying to use touch.
i dont see how windows would make it look any different.
Only time o.s has made games look “better” is when windows forces you to have to upgrade to get the latest dx, which happend from windows xp that didnt support dx11.
So even if you did go from windows xp to windows 8, gw2 should’nt look any better since gw2 is dx9.
Going to WIndows 8 grants a significant speed boost to those who have over 4 processor cores.
ANyways, there’s a bug with 8.1 in GW2 at this moment where if you alt tab the game crashes.
can you please show me some proof, link me a benchmark or somthing because i find it impossible that the o.s increases 4 core proccessor performance IN A GAME.
I also find it hard to believe that windows 8 increases performance with quad cores even on basic os tasks.
Ive read that windows 8 requires more rescources actually, (not that this would make a significant impact)
Btw i work in the computer industry, that DOES NOT mean im always right but i just don’t understand how these things you guys are stating could possibly work.
EDIT: ok you said over 4 cores, but even still, that wouldnt effect guild wars 2’s usage of over 4 cores because guildwars 2 .exe and the A.P.I (AKA DIRECT X ) control these functions.
I work in IT field as well, more specifically under technical support. Windows 8 provides a performance boost to Guild Wars 2, because it’s much more optimized to modern processors; Guild wars 2 is extremely processor intensive.
Just because Guild Wars 2 doesn’t take full advantage of hardware, does not mean that it is impossible to get better performance with another operating system.

I imagine it would be something like this:

I think salvaging in general is a problem. I hate having to click yes over and over or digging through my bags.
Explain to me how a minor 5% bonus to stats is preventing you from playing your alt? The only thing preventing you from playing the class is yourself not ArenaNet.
Nearly all gear in this game is account bound, you can run dungeons on your main just to gear your alt.
Compared to most games, this game is VERY alt friendly.
Unfortunately hotjoins is considered casual PvP, so you’re really not going to be expecting fair or balanced matches. That is what tournaments are for, so I very much doubt they will fix anything.
I do know there is a confirmed “anti-leaver” system coming soon in the works.
I had this issue as well, but I rolled back my windows Update (for 8.1 Preview) back to the 13th and my problems were fixed.
(Control Panel → Windows Update → Installed Updates)
(edited by Chase.8415)
I do this on my main account. Rating is meaningless.
Agreed.
I don’t find it worth it just to buy a completely new account just to queue in low ranked tournaments. That’s what hotjoins are for….
Also rating is worthless
I think you mean the companion app? I think it’s still under the development phrase.
Actually I have another question to add to that, has anyone tried to run Guild Wars 2 on windows 8 Pro Tablets like surface pro and Samsung Ativ Pro? If so, how convenient is it with the touch functions and all?
It runs fine, but the touch doesn’t work. Using the touch screen to move the camera will cause it to spin sporadically. In addition, it’s not full duplex since that is patented by Apple. It’s impossible to use the mouse scroll and the keyboard keys at the same time.
Basically Guild Wars 2 is unplayable on any mobile device, unless you use a mouse
If you are that desperate for it..
Then why don’t you go to LA and say that we are going to make a server push for Obsidian Sanctum for all players who still need the achievement. Meet at X time.
I wanted that achievement. I couldn’t get it because we were getting camped. So I got my guildy group and spread the word throughout the server that we would be taking back Sanctum? And guess what? After 30 minutes of hard fighting, we did.
That’s a hard fought achievement.
So your solution is to gather a zerg to kill 5-6 people who grief players from finishing an inherently PvE achievement?
WvWvW is a complete disgrace.
Nope.
/nerd
(Guild Wars 2 runs on a completely different type of processor archaetype which is more optimized for power over battery life. It would be impossible to play GW2 on any mobile device.)
Even if you were to use a Remote Connection, guild wars 2 will still not function because there is a mouse rotation issue that causes it to consistently look up in the sky.
Solo que revisions are on the horizon guys, hang tight. I can’t give an exact date (that gets me in trouble), but it’s is on its way.
Is there any sort punishment in ArenaNet given to employees who release ETAs?
Like being forced to listen to the whole discography of Justin Bieber hanging upside down?
The reason why they don’t give an exact date is because of the expectation people have when they state a certain date as opposed to saying soon.
No it wouldn’t, I want to be able to talk to people I might group with and not just be thrown in with some randoms who just join my team no matter their skill level.
That’s what Solo Queue is for.
All of your teammates are for the most part your own leaderboard ranking. Simply join solo and try to take people with you and form a team.
Anyone who tells you that you cannot play a class in “hard” dungeons like Arah must be joking. Necromancers in particular have the ability to poison and weakness, it sounds to me that your guild is really just full of players who think they know about the game… but they really don’t.
Who said this? Torch is used for offense, focus is for support and shield is defensive.
Personally I find warrior the best class for 1v1, I can kill pretty much anyone with mine except for thieves that spam blind and stealth, by the time I get hurt I have more allies
Ugh I reply hate when people ask for a budget laptop, and then consider buying the Macintosh pro or air. Its like a complete contradiction.
If you even had the thought of buying a Macintosh, just go ahead an do it. No one is going to convince you otherwise if you’re already willing to pay that much for one.
You main a thief, what do you expected, now if you were playing a warrior things wold be different.
Playing a warrior is fun in Hot Joins because you can kill pretty much anyone 1v1 without even trying if you plan your stuns correctly.
As a warrior, you have the ability to stun someone for 5 seconds.
Even though I am predominately a PvP players, I see no reason to complain about achievements giving rewards, or how you are forced to do them. There is nothing important in the Achievement system worth grinding several dozens of hours unless you want to.
I don’t think you have to go all defense, a mace stun warrior can do just the job.
no such thing as “skill” in this game.
Just pick OP build, OP class, mash all the buttons = win.The amount of practice it takes to be proficient in a class or build is minutes to hours in this game…
In other action MMORPG’s time it takes to be fully proficient in a character class is on the order of months or more.
tPvP is more about organization, having best builds etc. Planning, strategy, and organization easily compensates for individual skill when the other team is disorganized but each player is very skilled.
Lol, it’s pretty obvious you don’t play PVP in this game.
The high end PvP isn’t decided before it starts, simply because of their classes.
Pretty much everyone runs their own build that works for them.
Blame the law not ArenaNet.
The 18+ requirement is expected in any type of tournament that awards money due to several legal restraints. If you’re going to complain, blame the law not arenanet.
There is a few abilities that work differently in PvP as opposed to PvE.
Perhaps your friend convinced you to give him 50 silver three times???
No mail bug exists as far as I know.
You’re absolutely correct, guild Wars 2 has a helpful and friendly community to the point where they have people not place first when they already have it.
Since you are purposely ignoring what the community is doing for others, you have essentially became a taboo.
Now you’re complaining about the reactions of the community when you’re not helpful and friendly??? Such a disgrace.
Well. If you want to keep winning, you do have to pay the consequences of people getting upset with you for winning. Not sure why you feel the need to keep making these topics.
Because I should be able to play the game without being called names. If you don’t want to read my threads then don’t, it’s up to you.
Here’s a solution for you, don’t go in first place. Perhaps you should be part of the community, rather then be against it. You’re doing this on purpose to the point where you have made several topics about this to “rub salt” in the wounds of those who have not achieved it.
I don’t know about you, but id rather not have people like this in our community.
Maybe you’re unfamiliar with the concept of this PvP RACE.
It’s a race, against other players, to come in 1st (or 2nd or 3rd). Maybe Blue has set a person goal to come in 1st every time, and that’s fun for him. Who are you -or the people in OP image- to attack him for playing the game the way it was designed ?
You call him “a disgrace”, but you are wrong! Attacking someone who is doing nothing but playing the game and achieving the mechanic set goal is what’s disgraceful. Beggging/demanding that he stop playing the RACE properly, just so some people will cheat the system to get an Achievement they didn’t earn, is what is disgraceful.
I find it a disgrace to purposely win first place over and over for attention, acting as if first place is something to brag about or to show as an accomplishment. Wether it’s a PvP race or not, it’s a community event and there is no reason to win first place over and over unless you purposely want to ruin the experience of others; which does not belong in this game.
I have achieved first place many times in a row without this reaction. Its pretty evident that he has provoked them in some way to make such statements.
Now when people asked me to step aside and let others win, I listen to them instead of ignoring them.
Its very obvious that he had provoked them in some way, hence wy is making several topics about it to draw attention
ArenaNet is a neutral company when it comes to vulgar statements. They can determine that no one is at fault if both parties were involved. If more serious matters are present, a lot of times they ban both sides.
If you’re complaining no action is taken, then don’t provoke people or state you reported them because they will dismiss the report.

This is a community event, I think it should be less competitive. A lot of people don’t enjoy having to fight other players to earn achievements. I completely respect that because there is no reason why someone should have to do this for a pve centric event.
If you want a title that is competitive, then play in PvP. Don’t sit here and complain on how win trading has destroyed your accomplishment.
Anytime you have a map were it requires a certain setup to run, its unbalanced.
This map would be great if they reworked the glass panels to explode instead of shatter and do an instant death. Make them do a ton of damage, not an instant kill. That way builds designed for constant knockback cannot destroy the map.
Who actually enjoyed Darkmoon Faire after the 2nd time?
I think that’s a bit unfair to compare the Darkmoon Faire to some of the events of this game. It’s not like they’ll be exactly the same. Even if they did, they still had more things to do compared to it.
Darkmoon Faire also just kept showing up, there really was no explanation about the Faire or what you should do, like the living stories.
I could complain that I suffer from a severe form if topographical disorientation, which makes it really hard for me to do jumping puzzles… But it isn’t exactly going to change anything.
I had to accept the fact in my life that I’m simply just going to have to “deal with it”. I would give anything in the world to be able to memorize maps and locations.
Despite my such condition, the update is very nice and I see no reason to complain about it since it is optional.
Make the glass platforms explode and do instant down status rather than a fall to a death and other than that I think it’s okay.
I also like the voice acting on the map.
I think it’s a bit strange for it to not name the bases, using alphanumeric codes.
Ascended items are not hard to get, you essentially spent 1-2 hours to kill the jade quarry and get a random chance of an ascended item… and a guaranteed chance after 10 days.
The grind you are describing in PvE is non existent compared to PvP.
They had one month to make an entire new map, new skins for an achievement system and a PvP map; which appeared to take 2 weeks on our end.
It’s hard to dye an armor that has animated particle effects. This is the reason why weapons cannot be dyed, and several armors in GW1 couldn’t be dyed due to the same reason.
128 or more slots in a backpck that carries plate armor?
Healing spells that cures conditions?
Dying and then resurrecting at the nearest waypoint?
Only one city with a sewage system?
Unrealistic and ridiculous, please fix.
I swear people are willing to complain about everything.
I am a DPS guardian in high end PvP, the concept of a guardian that DPS’s at that level is flat out nonsense since there are better options. One would assume, that because no one else runs guardian DPS … I would be forced to reroll another class to maintain my rank.
Well guess what, even though there are better options I am NOT forced to play another class to maintain my high rank in the leaderboards.
And you will also experience the same, you will not be forced to play Guild Wars classic for achievement points.
Complaining for a change will fix nothing, the achievement point change for HoM is set in stone and quite frankly, you’re just going to have to deal with it.
Anyone who’s studied statistics will tell you that:
A) Computers are not truly random, there are several mathmatical and human errors that can cause someone to have a higher percentage of achieving things than attended. There are several mathematical paradoxes in life, such as the birthday paradox.
B) Everything in life is based of a continuing pattern, such as evolution. Under all circumstances there will be someone who doesn’t appear to follow the laws of probability.
C) AreaNet makes money of people who buy gems. Even if you convert your gold to gems, someone sold gems for gold in return. If ArenaNet is making a stable income to the point where they don’t even need expansions, then I see no reason for them to change it.
It’s life, sometimes you’re unlucky and sometimes you are… deal with it unfortunately.
If you believe you shouldn’t have to use a third party tool to look for groups then fine. There are plenty of guilds in this game that will be more than happy to assist you with forming a group.
A LFG tool has been confirmed under the works, you can find all the information on confirmed developer statements with feature below here with this link:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Upcoming_changes_and_features
There is also going to be a blog post stating all of the new features coming in late 2013, ArenaNet has kept promise with the last blog post:

No.
I would much rather not see a match composed of 1 bunker class and a thief that spams stealth on a downed corpse.
No one is forcing you to check the previews or live streams. This is no different then MMO champion in World of Warcraft, leaking tons of information before it was official.
The biggest part of this patch is the achievement upgrade, living story is really just a bonus. There’s also a potential Necromancer nerf as well, so something to look forward to.
What’s the point of new skills if there is several skills not used due to being to weak to be replaced?
If you’re going to optimize for 4 cores, go directly to 6 or more instead.
I see no need for a PTR, if you can release a patch every 2 weeks and fix the bugs within a few hours of the patch I find it much more beneficial then testing out a patch for a few weeks with tons of spoilers.
They should keep it the same, put all the of the patch in a NDA and keep us waiting until the last day to see whats been added, I like the surprise… bugs or not.
Besides all of the serious bugs get kept and exploited anyways
No. No no no no no no no. No. No.
http://www.sectalk.com/board/public/imported_images/i.lolzer.com/no-no-no-HELL-NO.gif
No.
No.
You say this now, but the first time they release a patch that wipes your bank of every item in it, you’ll be the first on here saying “WTF?! WHY DIDN’T YOU TEST THIS CRAP?!”. And if you think that’s not possible, go check WoW. It happened. Twice.
Point proven, World of Warcraft has months of testing and yet major exploits slips through such as the ability to run Game Master commands and kill an entire town all day long.
Then there’s also numerous infinite gold exploits, quests exploits and so forth that happened after months of beta testing.
