I announce the first bunny boxing tournament.
Requirements for entry :
Must at least have bunny ears and boxing gloves. That is all! If no bunny ears , at least have a cool hat!
Where this goes down:
The Great Collapse district in Divinity’s Reach. Blackgate server
When:
Saturday 11th of May. 3:00 PM eastern.
Rules :
Fighting on the bridge only. No running away off the bridge. Rabbit punches are allowed! Any length of the bridge is fair game.
Come on down and have some fun all the while racking up those brawl champion points. The fun may start earlier. Just trying to get people together to have some fun, away from all the farming.
If you feel like you are missing out on events or you are not finding as many events as you would like here’s a couple tips:
Don’t use Waypoints to get from one side of the zone to the other. Instead just run across. There is bound to be at least 1 event going on.
Pay attention to the map screen ( press M). If you see a waypoint that is contested , it means that there is an event going on.
Visit points of interests. There are usually NPCs that have an icon over their head that indicates that you can start an event by talking to him/her.
Simply roaming around the map can give you more knowledge of what events start and how often they can start up. Many people like to stay in Queensdale because of how easy events are to find and the frequency of them starting. Sometimes it seems like Anet put all their cognitive energy into making Queensdale the best zone.
Dynamic Events are the bread and butter of this game. Events keep that exp meter rolling which is good if you are leveling up, not to mention that you get gold and karma to spend.
as long as these easy to do raids do not give vertical progression…. why not? The game does need more armor skins and different types of armor stat combinations but no vertical progression. That’s not Guild Wars style. Play WoW if you want those raids.
Honestly why aren’t people playing WoW if they want to play WoW type content?
sounds like someone doesn’t like to cleanse.
So what you are saying is that everything is fine. Except that GW2 is not considered an Esport in pvp.
2. Resources: physical items that players pick up and bring back to home base is what I meant. Like Minerals in SC.
“An audience values action over calculated strategy;” This is not true in the Esport world in regards to MOBAs like Dota or LoL or even Starcraft. Calculated strategy is what makes action.
Constant action gets boring. Constant action might be entertaining for a player but not for an audience. Does a movie with 1hr 30 mins of straight fighting entertain viewers? I hardly think so. Maybe kids , but not fellow players who like to spectate.
Requirements for GW2 to be an Esport.
1.Must last longer than 30 mins. (games are too short to give any thrill, anticipation, or suspense. Currently GW2 does not entertain viewers.)
2. Must have some type of resource that players can use to turn the battle in their favor. This can include buffs(in the form of capture points, creep kills) , debuffs, and possibly a resource that can be picked up and brought back to home base(can be
used for spawning controllable NPCs to the extent of having them follow you).
3. Maps have to be symmetrical. This way one side doesn’t have a terrain advantage.
4. Maps need to be larger. This makes players choose wether guard a point or take the long route and cap something.
5. The mode cannot be conquest. This mode does not really fit into Esports because capping points does not give enough strategic value.
6. The mode has to be similar to traditional Guild Wars 1 GvG style. 8 versus 8. Each faction has a base with uncontrollable NPCs. Killing the Guild Lord wins the match. Players must complete optional objectives before they can reach the Guild Lord such as: Breaking down a door, killing a faction’s champion NPC, capturing a flag and bringing it back to their own home base.
NPCs are somewhat strong and cannot be soloed. If a team does not want to complete the objectives they will have to go through these NPCs to get to the Guild Lord.
As the fighting goes on if players collect enough resources they can call in an NPC assault to march onto the opposing side’s base.
7. Death has a huge penalty. A player death should subtract resource counts, buffs, or debuffs. A team that dies alot should have minimal chance in winning the match, however the dieing team can turn the tide around with global buffs, or debuffs.
I recommend creating something that has a little bit of Starcraft and a little bit of MoBa combined surrounding the traditional GvG type game we played in GW1.
The traps sound fun , but I wonder if they can be destroyed? Can these traps be destroyed by other siege or can they be destroyed by players?
If they can’t be destroyed and only be triggered that would present a huge outcry.
I would like to see Ladders that you can use to put up against walls and climb. That will keep players defending what they just capped.
I play on Blackgate and our guild loves a good fight, but we can’t get those fights anymore because the enemy just runs away.
Funny, i play on SoR and all i ever see is BG running.
As for no siege, its a no. Siege makes the WvW experience unique, however they do need to do some major re-balancing of all the siege and make there damage more dynamic vs other siege types rather then static such as arrow cart > catapult, ram, ballista.
I’m not from KnT. Never seen TW and I heard you guys were just annoying. I play oceanic time.
Rams and catapults??? BORING.
Every update for WvW seems to bring on more whining. The arrow carts buff and now the traps have become a huge morale sinker for many players.
Zergs today do not even fight each other. I play on Blackgate and our guild loves a good fight, but we can’t get those fights anymore because the enemy just runs away. We have to catch them off guard or fight them when they have built enough arrow carts in open field. That is when we just build our ballistas and destroy their arrow carts and then they run away again.
What if WvW had no siege? It seems that people are crying about not being able to play with their characters abilities because of the requirement for taking a keep.
In all seriousness I say go to Spvp if you want to use your character’s skills. WvW is about taking capture points and holding them with siege equipment. The individual is not important in major scale war. It is about who has the resources and their strategies and tactics on how to use those resources best.
If that is not what you want to do then go to Spvp. Yes I told you to play something else.
i bet you all are with less than 4k achievement points so shhhhhh cuz you dont understand….
5.8k , and I do stuff that actually gives more than 1 measly little point. I play anywhere from 30 mins to 2 hours a day , taking breaks in between for prolonged play.
are we still whining about a single achievement point? The daily system is fine the way it is.
Daily Achievement doesn’t mean breathe some air and get rewarded for it.
I would like to assume that no one is concerned with the acheivement point. Anyone complaining about Dailies is usually complaining because of the real reward, like Laurels.
Incidentally the title of the thread should really be changed to mention this is about PvP Dailies, not normal Dailies.
you can get the laurel by doing 5 of the daily achievements……. how do you not know that?? that means you don’t have to do them all.
yes they are skimpy enough , I just want more of them. Quantity he means.
Not quality.
are we still whining about a single achievement point? The daily system is fine the way it is.
Daily Achievement doesn’t mean breathe some air and get rewarded for it.
you know, capping points is what wins the games most of the time. If one player runs off to go cap a single point it doesn’t hurt the team in hot join.
It looks to me like anyone who plays WvW on a regular basis are more skilled in combat than PvErs , and Pvpers are a small step ahead of WvW players when it comes to PvE content.
PvP is the best way to train yourself for any situation in this game. You develop faster reflexes and learn how and when to use your skills effectively.
Lets not forget the build making in Spvp. Some people say it is cookie cutter. I say stay away from those cookie cutter builds and come up with your own. Instead of D/D ele, throw a curveball and use D/F. HGH? Lets not and go P/D with wrench, net turret, elixir s with high condi damage and trait points elsewhere.
Don’t wait on Anet to make changes for the Meta-game. The players have that power by changing up their builds.
I agree some skills are completely useless and can hinder your ability in combat. Those skills are the ones that need direct attention from the devs. Is there a heat monitor on how much a certain skill is used?
Winning is 50% build and 50% player skill in GW2. You can’t have just one and win if you are against a seasoned opponent.
No wonder the casuals chew through content so fast, everything must be restriction / effort free because they don’t have the time to complete anything that requires time.
I feel sorry for ArenaNet, trying to support casuals complaining about content taking to long to complete, and hardcore gamers complaining that everything is to easy.
A good idea would be to create two types of servers, one for casuals who can play in their sandpit of toys, and one for the hardcore who will grind, collect, progress and conquer.
If grinding makes you a hardcore player…. I don’t want to be hardcore. Sounds dumb. anyone who thinks they are hardcore because they play longer and grind all the high level content probably have less skill then casual players.
oh wow,, not getting the tournament achievement is like the end of the world for you. I wasn’t really reading your posts because they were just big cry baby posts. Nonsense. I should have said before I typed anything else:
“To the OP……..”
IQ has nothing to do with it. But you are definitely crying about something that it so little which says a lot about your IQ. Please, personal attacks are out of style. Its the internet.
There is no reason to do that daily part unless you are looking for more achievement points…… Wow just 1 measly achievement point…….
HAS THE WORLD GONE MAD?
yah that 100% MF isn’t worth squat against world bosses. A huge waste of time and I would be mad.
I’ve always been used to calling them professions, or profs for short. Maybe it’s because I never played WoW and played Guild Wars 1 for years, but I don’t like the term class for professions.
Class just sounds…kinda ridiculous. I think I’m just used to the terminology of profession at this point though.
And crafting disciplines? I dunno, I don’t usually talk about them anyway, and when I do I say that I’m talking about “crafting” or, specifically, a “tailor” or “cook”. Never used a word for all of them together.
+1 ,
There’s the GW1 vets, and then there’s the other guys. The other guys are in huge numbers and they will bring their jargon to GW2.
Brings question. If a person decides to play an MMO for the first time and chooses GW2 as their game, will they call professions “professions” or will they call them classes? Will they call thieves , “rogues”? Will they give in to what the majority of people call them?
UMMMMMMM you don’t have to win 2 tournament games to complete Spvp daily.
There are 6/7 objectives that you can do for completing the daily , you only have to do 5 of them. close thread.
Please only post when you know all the facts.
same goes for you. read whole post then speak thx
yah right, because you can play 4 maps in rotation and get your daily. which takes 45 mins tops. If you don’t have that much time to invest then maybe MMOs aren’t for you.
As a person who has never really played another MMO I see terminology coming from WoW or other traditional MMOs.
Do thieves act like rogues? Or do rogues act like thieves?
Are guardians like paladins?
Why do people call professions classes? I think Profession sounds a lot better than “class”. Class is more of a social classification, like Upper Class, Lower Class. Profession is more about what you do.
Its just a peeve I have and I bet some Anet developers hate it when someone says class instead of profession , or calls a thief a rogue.
I have yet to see anyone call an elementalist a mage though.
Maybe a baby quaggan dies every time someone does that.
classes? I want Professions! I go to classes to learn!
I can dig it. gather molten cores from destroyers, meat from deer. How about give an option?
Give players a decision: Loot or Gather? Can only pick one. Loot gives you gear , weapons, consumables, etc. Gather gives crafting materials.
or , you could just not grind and play content that you like.
The game isn’t going anywhere and you are trying to rush to get an item. What exactly do you get for getting that sweet skin before everyone else?

YES ! This is a no-brainer. Double-clicking enormous stacks is killing my mouse.
My skill points are racking up and I don’t know what to do with them.
I think spending them for temporary buffs in dungeons or PvE would put them into good use.
The only thing I know what you can use skill points for is spending them for Mystic forge materials.
crafting is by far the slowest way to get a full weapon and gear set IMO. Thankfully Anet gave players a way to get these gears faster and easier. I believe crafting is used only if you want one thing specific in stats and you want it instantly. Otherwise you will be spending your time in the TP buying mats with all your gold.
As long as it is optional I am down for it. Being an engi and using grenades just gives me arthritis.
I do have to say this about farming, I love to farm, I farm for my guilds need as well as my own(it’s how I make my IGM). I never stay in one spot very long and I do stalk the dragons and other events daily, but, it just seems I must play my game the way ANET decides I must play it. Why?
because
A) it’s their game
B) like other games they did state that they’re against farming. Both Tera and Guild Wars 2 discourage farming.
Older MMOs allow it and free to play MMO force you to do it. By now there should be an MMO for everyone on the market and I’m sure that you should be able to find one that allows you to farm.Name 1 thing that can be made in the game that does not REQUIRE crafting materials(which must be farmed)
salvage kit.
Why would anyone farm on this game? Farming and grinding is not hardcore at all. There is no challenge in farming. Plus you can’t outgear your opponent in Spvp or WvW so why bother? The skin?
Look at Cof for example. Content is super easy , and is SUPRA easy with 4 wars and 1 mes. People grind it because they are in the treadmill mindset.
This treadmill mindset really hurts a game like GW2.
It seems once you get past Queensdale or other starter areas the number of dynamic events reduce significantly.
Queensdale by far is the easiest zone to find multiple events and it doesn’t require 5+ people to do most of them.
When you get to Orr you have to have a group of people with you most of the time. This is great but in some servers there’s hardly any one there. Yes I know I can go to a server that has lots of Orr fighters.
What about the other zones that ranger between 15-70? It takes a while to find events IMO. In Queensdale you can finish an event and maybe travel for 30 seconds and find the next one even with 50+ people in the zone.
I will have to say that I love Queensdale and I run around there with my lvl 80s for fun. The events give good karma and silver but the Champion drops keep giving me 5 slot bags that can’t be salvaged. I’m not saying lvl 80 players should get 20 slot bags because that is ridiculous. I’m just saying the bag should be RNG and not a guaranteed item so players have a better chance at something good.
its cheating because killing any chanter should trigger the level to spawn more. But if anet wants to reward this type of glitch , I don’t care.
The four people not carrying the hammer need to sit in one side of the hallway right at the bend and aggro the chanters to that corner. This way, that side does not heal, a la bring them into your LoS. It’s a perfectly acceptable tactic, as is leaving one alive so that seal doesn’t heal nearly as much. These kinds of strategies happen because someone looked at the situation, used their brains, and did so without breaking the event. If every challenge thrown at us was meant to be zerg rushed, they would be designed that way, but it’s not.
That said, you can just zerg it pre 20. I don’t understand how you couldn’t.
bad team composition. you guys never heard of the exploit , leave chanter alive so no more spawn?
I don’t see how anyone could even get to 20 without using glitching or exploits. I just did Fotm lvl 16 and our last level was the giant with seals. We messed up on the glitch where you keep a certain chanter alive so a whole lot more don’t spawn in the (alternatively destroy 2 seals part).
We tried to beat it the normal way but the chanters just out regened the seals to full before we could get back from the previous smash. We were running big aoe builds and even clearing seals before we left the certain area to go to the next.
This glitch is common knowledge to any fractal runner and if you mess it up , it causes a group disband in most cases. It literally is the only way the giant seal level can be beaten past 20.
The dredge level has issues too. People still jump over the opening in the panel room. There is no chance for anyone to fight and infinite battle when running bombs to the gate so everyone just suicide runs. The champion dredge boss part was fixed which didnt hurt because it was beatable.
Yes , I am complaining. The scale of difficulty ramps up way too steep in 10-20.
Because the only defence thieves get is stealth?
I don’t think you realize how vital stealth is to thieves. It’s as important as a pet is to the ranger. We can try to build outside of the pet/stealth, but in the end we will utilize it because it is a core mechanic to us. Traps do reveal stealth, they tell you where the enemy is. If you can’t put together a trap being triggered and a stealth player being the culprit well there is no hope in helping you.
Thief is not the only profession that can use stealth. Engis can stack stealth, and mesmers have stealth as well.
Even with the patch the pet is still useless when it comes to defense. ALso, thieves don’t use stealth for defense, they use it for offense. The examples of which skills should reveal stealth would not hinder a thief from using stealth defensively.
If you are a thief and can’t handle being debuffed then there is no hope in helping you.
They should go back and look at the Black Moa Chick hunt:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Black_Moa_Chick
While the process wouldn’t be that short (so to speak), it had some interesting parts in it that took you across all campaigns.
This was one of the best scavenger hunts in a game. Though the black moa chick was ugly the journey to get it was challenging and lengthy. Not a grind at all in the least.
It will also bred elitism and pointless stuff like that.
Just because someone have good gear does not mean they are good players for that matter.
It is after all fully possible to buy a full set of exotic gear without ever leaving the starter area if one wanted to.
^this. Gear is never a good indicator of how good a player is. It only shows how much time was spent into that character to get the appropriate stats for that player to play easy mode guild wars 2.
Sure , lets have mounts, but lets make them 10 times harder to get than legendaries.
Traps should reveal stealth. Anything that needs to be triggered by an enemy walking over it should reveal stealth.
There aren’t any counters or debuffs except for AC carts to reveal stealth. Most MMOs have ranger archetypes that have some sort of skill that reveals stealth.
Why hasn’t this mechanic been brought to guild wars 2 yet except for arrow carts.
Well, that’s basically the suggestion in this topic. The thread creator wants gear that shows skin. The wisest decision thereon would be to make armour that indeed shows skin, but takes a hint from past mistakes and make such gear without obvious sexual intent.
The thing is, if you ask for skimpy outfits, what most people read is scanty outfits. Proper application of the word is key here. I think most people would assume that skimpy means, showing more cleavage and such. And obviously not everyone agrees on that.
But more options? A definite yes. But I would personally prefer more of the full body suits from GW1. There really is very little at the moment, to really make a necromancer look like a necromancer.
This for example:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Apprentice_hf_full_f.jpg
Isn’t a necromancer.
It could be a necromancer…… Dye colors. Green and Black, maybe a little brown. Mix and match. In GW2 you just have to be more creative with mix and match of armors.
Why not have all kinds of revealing armor. If you don’t want to see them then don’t wear them. If you don’t want to see other people wear them , go some place where there aren’t people who have that armor. If it really bothers you that much, don’t play.
No one can speak on behalf of their own gender, because each individual has his or her own tastes. This is an MMOrpg after all and people like to live out their own fantasies in social games. Since this game is rated Teen players have to adhere to the rules of conduct. Suggestive themes are allowed in teen rated games so being promiscuous may or may not be allowed.
Maybe what the OP really wants is more types of flirty armor. They don’t necessarily have to show more skin.
I’m going to use the Queensdale troll event for an example/scenario.
Lets say you have maybe 20+ players hitting the troll event. This scales the troll up with more health and added damage. The troll is still easy and no real skill is needed.
Why not add in a second champion troll(when first troll reaches a certain health threshold) with maybe half of the health but same power of the original troll?
This gives players another loot table and it rewards people for playing together as a community.
Mega Bosses
Claw of Jormag:
50+ players: Huge Ice shard on both flanking spots that people like to camp on. Veteran monsters spawn from the ice shard are leashed to a 700 radius near the ice shard and doesn’t attack players in the chasm.
Tequatl:
50+ players: Massive bloated creeper that swallows 5 players at a time. Players can be released by control effects or by spamming a skill that forces the creeper to vomit. The vomit causes poison effect.
Shatterer:
50+ players: During 25% health threshold (use to be lag phase) chaos shards spawn and players must destroy them all or the Shatterer gains health for each shard left alive. The trigger can only happen once.
If these scales are triggered then players could be awarded another rare item bonus chest, or a better drop chance for exotic or precursor.
There just has to be better ways to scale instead of just increasing health and damage , and maybe an added skill.
If I want to dress in drag I have every right to.
ahem ok. first of all, if you’d like, i can give you my husband’s info so he can confirm that i am, in deed, completely 100% female. second? i agree, i don’t think i would have stated this request as a demand. but that’s just me. last?
i have, currently, 13 characters that i bounce between. all female. all have their own personalities, likes, dislikes, etc etc etc. some of them like a more formal look, some of them like a more playful look, some of them like a more barbaric look, and some of them just like showing off their pure smexiness. yes, i’m an rper at heart.
the point i’d like to make, quite simply, is that i was overall thoroughly delighted at the availability of SENSIBLE armor selections for those of my females who prefer a more sensible wardrobe. but i’m pretty disappointed, for my characters who like things a little more risque, at the options available. my husband was, if not the first, then one of the very first, to combine the vigil leather legs with the duelist top on his ranger, because he wanted her to be sexy as well as powerful. in order to GET that look you MUST mix and match armor pieces, which means sometimes your dyes don’t quite match up. and so on and so on.
so, tl/dr — love the availability to have fully clothed/armored characters, would be thoroughly delighted with some more options for a little more playful or sexy sets.
Because the word of -anyone- online really means diddly in text right? Anyone can grab an image somewhere or say anything online. That is the nature of the net for better or worse.
Also I find nearly all light armors and many order armors to cater to your type of garbage skimpy stuff. I can’t even take the female Vigil armor seriously as I said as it makes no bloody stinking sense.
Oh.. and it is kinda clear you do not understand what sexy and powerful really is if you think showing skin means that while throwing around a fireball.
I don’t think anyone can shoot a spell off properly without having the least amount of armor on. Light armor professions do not rely on their armor values to stay alive most of the time. They have spells for that. IMO light armor can have endless possibilities to how it looks as far as skimpy goes because of this truth.
People talk about how light armor is so impractical in combat…..well thats because it is. It is light armor!. Professions with light armor use skills that protect them! redudant.
They already have this armor in PvE. Its called Tribal armor or something. Look at any gallery and you will find it.
Yeah, Um you’re in the wrong game it seem.
This is a Horizontal scaling game = Gear will never change and advance in superiority.
Such a shame really. This game would have been godly if they just introduced some vertical scaling content for the hardcore players, and since its not and they only catered to the casuals, players like us are kind of shooed away.
Hardcore because you PvE? please. Play some Spvp. that is hardcore.
