The game is hard in places when you first experience them. GW2 is like a puzzle solving game. Once you figure out the puzzle it is super easy when you do it again and again and again and again and again.
If only there was a set amount of objectives to get your character ascended like in GW1. After getting ascended you could just transform your existing exotics into ascended armor like you did to help you fight against the Mursaat in GW1. Except that in GW2 it would give you agony resistance for fractals.
Why didn’t Anet go this route? I wouldn’t say they were lazy. I would just have to say they had to do something to keep those traditional MMO players, but it kind of enraged a small vocal minority.
AScended weapons and armor …. woopie doo. Just wait until parties for dungeons start making each other ping for ascended full zerker.
except that when you were in a trinity , you were just facerolling your keyboard if you were DPS at max range, watching health bars as a healer, and sitting like an idiot holding aggro as a tank taking 0 damage.
I would say the trinity is the more boring.
You obviously not doing any challenging content GW2 has to offer OP.
Also, the defiant buff doesn’t make CC useless. Every player will most likely have a control skill on their bar even if not on purpose. Timing when to break that defiant stack and setting off a stun can turn things around if your team isn’t doing too well against a boss. A thief with a offhand pistol can keep daze on a target almost permanently given the right traits and sigils.
The real problem is that there is no real threat when its a 5 vs 1 AI in a dungeon.
Didn’t know games had a heartbeat. If Guild Wars 2 had a heart , it would be thumping steadily with a few murmurs on occasion.
I disagree. The game shouldn’t help you decide on how high you want to sell your product. It is obvious both of you don’t understand how supply and demand works either. If the player population wants your stuff you have a chance at selling it higher than vendor price. Why would a vendor NPC pay you 1g for an ascended inscription? What are they going to use the inscription for?
The TP is fine the way it is. A simple solution for you is to make up your own price and stop selling to buy orders. If your price is reasonable people will buy it.
There are other ways to get your exotic armors…… Just sayin.
Hardcore players are around 10k AP? I must be hardcore then. But I play casually maybe 30 mins a day and a couple hours when I have free time.
Players can call themselves hardcore all they want but once they get beat by a casual player they scream overpowered!
Is this patch supposed to be a joke?

I actually liked the difficulty for World 2. Now its a cake walk.
Here is a quick scenario.
Engineer : Pistol and shield.
Wants to go power build using pistol and shield. This is a lost cause since the pistol’s raw damage does not ramp up properly compared to condition damage.
At 3000 attack the pistols damage is roughly 200-300 depending on opponent’s armor value. A rifle with the same stat does anywhere between 700-900 with almost the same attack speed.
What I am getting at here is that certain weapons are constricted to only one specific build(i.e. condi pistol, or elixir gun) IMO the pistol’s bleed duration is too short at base value anyway.
Maybe a better solution would be to have a threshold where if you have enough condi damage, or power the weapon will decide which stat to go with and the skill will only use the appropriate damage type. Builds with both high condi and power will benefit from this at the sacrifice of armor.
It just seems that some weapon combinations are hindered because of certain builds that are set in stone for them.
So OP you want to render condition damage builds completely useless? It’s already bad enough that there is a condi stack cap.
The condi build is just a good counter against low vitality builds…… Having said that, change your build, get better, or stop whining.
The meta right now is mostly condi build in Spvp. It is the best counter against a full zerker build.
Here I will tell you what build you are looking for so you can beat a high condi damage player:
Power Toughness Vitality
Basically any build with high vitality can beat any condi build. Really depends on the player. Maybe if you actually dodged some of the attacks it wouldnt be so bad. Or maybe bring condition removal? Or maybe don’t blow all your skills within the first 5 seconds of the fight.
There are average players, then there are above average players. The players who seem to complain are the one’s below average and legitimately have not tried to better themselves or find a solution. They would rather come on the forums.
Don’t tell me what to do! You are not my dad!………………………….. You are not my dad!
The content that I do in GW2 will give me all I need to get ascended stuff so I am not really fussing.
op , put 30 into the last trait line , use static discharge and roll zerkers. Tool belt is very useful if you know how to use it.
I call him that big nasty creature that destroys that castle ruin every time it jumps out of the water!
when a community plays a game just to get loot , it will turn sour.
Game communities fall when they fail to immerse themselves into the lore and play the RPG as it was intended to be played.
OP to the topic.. Last thing I heard about this was that Ascended gear was going to be the last tier.
Yup, the gemstore armor skins need to stop. They should be obtainable through in-game feats like beating a dungeon.
gear should be obtained through player skill….. not through time-gated wait in line crap.
Seriously, it’s simply bad design to reward failure. Why bother completing an invasion when you can just fail and farm champions all day?
sigh this game really is made for casuals.
Being a casual doesn’t mean being a person who exploits.
Hate raids. Hate time-gated. Hate not being able to get all gear through World PvE without having to craft, spend laurels, or do fractals.
Yup , definitely not alt friendly. Makes me sad, but not angry. Ascended gear is just a few points more and it does add up.
At least exotic gear is still viable in World PvE and dungeons. I wonder how high of crit damage a full Ascended berserker build will get. Probably like 250% with food. 50k crits on auto attack here I come!
I got a better solution for you. Stop leaving the game after the match ends and let it load up another one.
A 1-hit kill skill makes perfect sense in a competitive survival scenario and this skill is so easily telegraphed and dodged. This is definitely a player skill issue.
Having a good server structure and a small number of employees has served GW2 well. You see some devs or programmers leave Anet(for other projects in their careers and such) and that is not a bad thing. It opens doors to new programmers. I believe Anet wants a finite number of employees to stay in budget.
OMG it is the end of GW2 and the world as we know it! Are there really only a select few people out there with great ideas?
PVE
1- Boring joke
2- Boring (boring is too positive how i really feel about their living creature)

1- Fun for half an hour per week…
2- lol tournaments in a spam fest game is just that, boring spam fest.
sounds like GW2 is not your game.
Maybe Anet should make both zerg related content and instanced related content for like 5 player teams. oh wait.
Sounds like some of you really want GW2 to fail. Anet has to do PR now more than ever because the game has been out for a year and they need to persuade people to buy their game. They recently raised the server cap which means they can handle more players.
Maybe you don’t want newbies messing up your elitism. Why not welcome any newcomers and help them out? It is a game after all and helping people can mold them into great opponents in PvP.
On the caravans destroyed comment: Not everyone plays WvW… I bet there are players out there who have not even stepped foot in WvW. Im in a Tier 1 server and we rarely send out people to kill yaks for that matter so yes the number will be low.
why would you waste a character slot on another character of the same profession?
you are obviously not an altoholic. You wouldn’t understand.
I just knew some people would be unhappy with this….. I myself don’t like the time-gated idea, but I am glad I can at least craft ascended stuff now.
And what are you going to do with this new gear?
Umm use it? Yes, that’s right….. I think I am gonna use the gear I crafted. I’m not worried about making gold since gold is obtainable by just pressing 1 and F a few times.
I just knew some people would be unhappy with this….. I myself don’t like the time-gated idea, but I am glad I can at least craft ascended stuff now.
Topics like these are incredibly annoying.
The developers have said multiple times that this game is staying B2P with the gemshop.
Let’s get one thing straight. If a game is good, then the last thing the company needs to worry about is money.
Apparently I’m not a loyal customer according to the OP. I thought my $60 was good indicator of my loyalty. I could have just found a way to steal a key. I must be a bad customer since I haven’t spent a dime in the Gem Shop but I have probably bought over 50k gems using in-game gold. I am very offended by the loyalty comment OP , screw you. Having said that, I would be glad to purchase an expansion pack for a reasonable price if Anet would ever do that.
$180,000,000+ (digital purchases+ gem shop purchases) should be more than enough to keep a small company like Anet to stay afloat for more than a year. Now that they are selling in China the profit will get much higher. AFAIK GW2 is on budget since that is what I heard in a developer interview about their API tracking systems.
A subscription model is only for the greedy companies or companies that have way too many employees and too much overhead. (WoW lots of commercials , also has to pay lots of royalties to use certain voices or media parodies).
If Truly F2P games like Aion, League of Legends, or Everquest 2 can keep their servers running then a sub fee is completely ridiculous.
Its time to close this thread and let it die.
New toolkit: Mech Armor
Encases your character in a “Aliens” like robot cage. Gives 250 toughness if traited and 8 second stability when activated with an icd of 15 seconds.
Skills can include various knockdowns, launches, or pushbacks. A jumping skill that can launch you 1200 range.
Feel free to get more ideas! I vote my idea is best already!
Just get rid of it and have a rocket firing monkey, imo.
But then we would have to feed the monkey and take care of its hospital bills…. Too much overhead.
1400 condi dmg plus 3000 attack is superb. nuff said. Stack might and you got a killer.
Honestly if you don’t pay attention to the lore than you don’t really give two kittens about this game.
If you don’t like where the story is going tell the devs! The way it is being presented is fine IMO.
More than half of you only do LS for the achievement points and the get rich quick schemes…. None of you actually care about story.
It doesn’t make sense, how is the game suppose to be funded?
If the game was absolutely free, we would have no content or very very little. People would complain.
If the game had a sub people would complain that there are f2p games out there and paying $15 per month isn’t justified.
With Anet relying on the gemshop for income, people complain that they are greedy.
Something must give. In everyone’s honest opinion how do you expect a company to hire workers to deliver quality content if they aren’t having some sort of income??
I honestly don’t get it.
We did give….. it was $60(some paid more). If they want more of my money they should come out with an expansion. Its not like Anet is a huge corporation that has thousands of employees.
All players do have access. You said so yourself, the recipes are on the TP. The recipes cost about a gold each – if you have trouble getting that, why do you think you can make the armor? The material cost for it is more than the recipe.
What you should be angry at is time-gating. It’s going to take you a minimum of five days per piece to craft.
You didn’t read my post right so I will say it again……..
Players shouldn’t have to use the TP to get these recipes. The recipes should be obtainable through doing core content like WvW , Open-world PvE or dungeons.
Also, some recipes are can be high like 5 gold…….
It just seems to be out of place compared to obtaining other armor stats. Celestial isn’t the best after all.
(edited by Chewablesleeptablet.3185)
Yup this is one big fuss over nothing.
Thinking I was going to make 3 pieces of celestial armor since I had the recipes for the celestial insignia was a big fail. I am a little ticked that I have to also get the recipe for the actual armor piece. This means I would have to spend lots of gold for a full set.
IMO its extremely unfair to players who did not participate in the LS. All players should be able to access all types of stat armor through playing the game instead of having to compete for prices at the freaking trading post.
It is definitely against the “Manifesto”.
9 stacks of might from activation and another 5 stacks of might from a stalker pet is pretty good IMO.
Someone got beaten by a thief
^ this .. and there is nothing childish about winning in any way you can.
Obviously thieves are a hard counter to whatever build you are running whereas the majority of the GW2 community have no problem against thieves.
OP my advice to use is to not get downed in the first place. Clearly if you are getting downed, you are not winning the fight.
never grow up. be a child forever! Growing up means no fun !
Where is my Cantha? Where is Elona for that matter?
It is terribly sad that Anet couldn’t include these continents on release. I mean they are present on GW1 so why are they not on GW2 standard? Seems like they took a step backward or didn’t have the time to finish the game.
Its like they never existed!
Hate to say this but player’s don’t know what they want. It is becoming increasingly evident that the majority of players want to do is grind super easy content(champion farming) for high reward just so they can have something before someone else.
Dungeons were given better rewards but you have to do different paths to optimize your profit. Almost every path takes no more than 20 mins to complete. Both Cof path 1 and 2 can take less than 10. Do players want this? Definitely not. Looking on GW2lfg.com I rarely ever see a post that calls for dungeon trek(doing multiple dungeons). IMO dungeons need even better rewards before anyone takes them seriously even though the explorable paths are very easy once you know how to beat them.
The only solution to this problem is better scaling for these Champions and give them more devastating attacks that can 1-shot people if they don’t move if there are 20+ players on them.
I think Anet listened to the wrong crowd about game difficulty. The game is way too easy for lvl 80 content. That is unless you do Fotm level 48 or so and are a guardian.
OP. Are you saying you didn’t like Southsun Survival or nostalgia?
Its unfair to say that the clockwork invasions are a Rift copy.. Its pure coincidence that the invasion is similar to rifts.
I suggest everyone to try and actually roleplay in an MMORPG (role-playing game). No matter how the content is presented, if the lore is good then the game is good.
Also, do you have a better idea of how GW2 should present content? This is our generation of civilization and people can only have so many ideas.
GW2 has
-leveling
-humans
-greatsword, maces, staves, daggers, swords, hammers, bows
-wolves
-bats
-trolls
-mountains
-houses
-boats
-an economy
-clothing
…When do you want to stop? GW2 copies other MMOs and real life.
If you want something unique I suggest you go play a ‘new’ genre like Minecraft
But minecraft is 8-bit right????? Oh no they copied every game made before 64-bit!
OP. I came into GW2 knowing what it had to offer. I didn’t expect anything. Every game has that hype and new game smell. I have been following up with every piece of news on this game ever since it was announced right after Eye of the North.
I remember the first night GW2 released and my guild mates from GW1 were in hysteria and were freaking out because they didn’t know what to do….. I was different to say the least. Do they still play the game? No , because they were PvE carebears who didn’t like competition unless it was a race against faction points ( Luxon or Kurzick rep).
GW2 takes almost every genre except for shooter and that is what makes it amazing. MMOs are forever in beta.. there is always room for improvement. Look at GW1. Over the 7 years I have played a lot had changed. The day an MMO stops getting balance updates is the day that MMO is dead basically. Changing the meta is the most exciting thing that happens to MMOs.
Now after playing GW2 for a year I now come to expecting things such as more Living Story that improves upon earlier failures.
