No more expansions please. Just do better with living story.
Let the players worry about clipping. Seriously, Id rather mix and match than be stuck with a onesie outfit.
No is the answer to OP. Yes they should keep it. If you are somehow offended by “floppy fish miniature” don’t buy it . Simple as that. It’s a video game. Fiction, fantasy.
Hell if you really can’t stand it. Don’t play GW2. We could use less hysterically emotional people in our community.
I dont ever remember it being in the game until now.
Shame for having this hidden away for so long.
The only negative I see right now is the goal tending where players are jumping and standing on the hoop to block all the shots. Nothing a dunk cant get past though. Either way make it so players teleport when they try to stand on the hoop or backboard for more than 3 seconds or something.
The last boss fight is fine. Players just need to learn to stop looking at their keyboards while they play.
I was able to solo the boss on my ranger. It was quite clear on what you had to do for the fight and it didn’t take long to win.
Just goes to show if you whine long enough on reddit things will get nerfed.
How about we nerf raids too? Take away the enrage timer?
The zone looks great. Feels alive. The Story missions were a little on the short side. The last boss was easy to learn in seconds and the revive crutch helped from all the damage that was unavoidable after using up evades.
Good job. Needs more elaborate story though.
WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN FIXED? ITS BEEN THERE SINCE RELEASE!
The mesmer is clearly OP in the condition build department.
The mesmer has a tremendous advantage when it comes to passive play. A mesmer can stay invulnerable to all damage for over 10 seconds while popping clones and creating new ones because of passive traits. This gives the mesmer an unlimited supply of condi application that can only be stalemate against DH and druids.
This new build that is floating around gives the mesmer heavy sustain, burst, and bunker all into one package . That’s not cool.
Ive said it before, passive play ruins skillful play. How hard is it to use both Chronophantasma and IR together with continuum shift and shatter while blocking and evading.
Honestly its worse than DH trap builds. At least DH trap builds can be handled by using stab and staying at ranged. A mesmer can just use shield 5 and 4 while 10 stacks of torment , confuse , and bleeding gets applied to you over and over again.
Bring condi cleanse???? who doesnt bring condi cleanse? the problem with condi cleanse is the average 30 second cooldowns.
Seems like there is no reason to ever not be a herald. Its just way more powerful than just being a revenant. Throw some builds at me that dont have a herald spec.
Not worth $50 for vets , suggesting new model
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Chewablesleeptablet.3185
Many developers are adopting the current model GW2 is using. Buy the expansion and you will get all previous versions. Though this is a great deal for new players , but it feels like veteran players are getting highballed.
There is another way , a fair way , to appease all consumers and some developers are already doing it.
Its called discounts for owners of previous versions!
Insane I know right? How can it be enforced? Easily if you purchase through the game’s official website. Other deals could be , you buy the new expansion for the full price elsewhere , you punch in the registration key code and Anet notices you already own previous versions so they give you Gems.
GEMS for previously owned expansions and core game! Crazy right!? Do I have to bring up why many on the Anet team have left? Its a huge conspiracy that they just didn’t like the direction of GW2. They probably felt they failed their audience with HoT.
Call me cheap or whatever. Fact is I did buy both the core game and the expansion for full price and spent money in the Gem shop, and I do spend money on games that deserve it.
I just feel cheated out of my wallet on HoT because of the lackluster story , and what was really unlocked for buying it. Elite specializations? Not a lot of content. A couple armor skins behind a huge grind? Well thats just grind and not a lot of content.
Many core game changes were made that is in free to play which means we pretty much paid for an overhaul.
In conclusion , what I suggest would create better customer loyalty and fairness. Let us not go the way of Electronic Arts.
Well you have two choices. Sit on a tree and take forever, or play legit and kill mossman in half the time.
Since Anet has taken away the exploit of sitting on the wooden beam sticking out from the house groups are now taking to the trees.
Please anet fix this exploit. Make it so trees in the boss area cannot be climbed.
Skill will not activate if you have no endurance…… It will say out of energy and put the skill on cd. Wouldn’t it be great if all evade skills for all professions used endurance as well? I think not.
Its clearly a bug that needs to be fixed asap. Countless battles lost in pvp because of that skill failure.
u were killing a rev. he was slowing u. it is quite annoying
no i wasnt
, ive soloed necros , eles, and guardians, neither of which have slow….
No I am not being CCed, the finisher progress bar completes while my character is also completing the staking animation and yet I do not kill the opponent. This is a very ridiculous glitch that is pvp breaking.
It is a great fix. Steal wasn’t meant for shadowstepping anywhere you want. There is already a skill for that.
So OP … you want to get Daily Achievements just for breathing? How mediocre.
Add stealth gyro, elixir S , elixir B, wrench and you have one unkillable engi in any pvp setting.
Adaptive armor definitely needs a nerf. I main engi and I know that is just OP. Anet needs to stop this BS passive play. 20 condi reduction plus 100 toughness when hit every one second are you kidding me? Ironblooded included which if you have elixir B means another 10 dmg reduction. As many people have mentioned in many threads, the engi can easily take on 3 enemy players focusing him /her.
Some might argue this takes skill. The hell it does. Any average player that doesn’t faceroll their keyboard can pull this off. Yah maybe CC might work to knock the engi out of position only if CC was unblockable like some CCs should be.
Most of the passive play in GW2 is tolerable because the buffs are temporary and only last a couple of seconds. The engi’s passive play is way above any other profession now.
I like how you listed an entire build, complete with utility skills and other core-specializations and then went all “nerf adaptive armor” instead of “nerf Ironbloded/elixir S/elixir B/stealth gyro/toolkit”.
maybe because Adaptive armor is passive and doesn’t take any thought to achieve?
What was so bad about Season 2 ? A dev mentioned that raids might be the new Living Story… That sounds like it will be difficult for a couple of average skilled players.
I guess get good or you don’t get to experience lore that will be skipped anyway by speed runners. Anyone care to give me some facts instead of rumors?

With the new druid announcement people are screaming “healer class yay!” Keep in mind that if you are healing you aren’t doing damage and therefore dragging on a fight and cooldowns are still lengthy. You are doing instanced content and people want to complete that instance as fast as possible.
A player using heals instead of being a fifth dmg output is going to make the run slower and the players who are better skilled can hold their own will not want you in their party. The core dungeons will never change. Anet said they weren’t working on new ones and are working on raids.
Healers in GW2 still cannot do direct target heals for any party member its all AoE and weak. Heals to other party members will always be too weak unless they are burst and have high cooldowns.
Moving on to tanks…. No aggro meter in GW2 so lets just stop right there.
What I saw from the druid was great support, not heals. Healing is just the secondary to the damage mitigation. GW2 as far as protecting allies has always been about damage mitigation, not healing…. mitigation in the way of blocks, reflects, blinds, protection boon, and weakness.
In conclusion, raids and dungeons will never need a dedicated healer or tank… just good damage mitigation. All content currently out on GW2 doesn’t require either. Players die because they don’t know how to play their profession.
I don’t ever want to have to stare at my UI and millions of skills and health bars, I want to play the game.
Its weaker than arcing slice.
Berserker stats situation: arcing slice dmg under 50% health = 1.6k
Eviscerate level 3 dmg= 2.2k as it says on the description
Hitting the same enemy with arcing slice I get 4k …. eviscerate full adrenaline I get 2.9k
crit with gs burst 6k
crit with axe burst anywhere from 4k to 8k
this is with zero boons.
What I am trying to say is that the values in the tooltip description of eviscerate are incorrect. Currently the eviscerate skill’s damage is so random that sometimes you hit for only 2k at full adrenaline. The GS burst skill is stronger and is AoE, devaluing axe…
This trait is simply not 100% beneficial. That statement alone should attract anet’s attention and make a change.
It is a minor specialization in the explosives line and gets annoying when your dungeon group stacks up enemies and you heal blast water field only to push back the stack……
It is almost as bad as a noob ranger using LB #4.
We need the option to be able to turn stuff like that off without having to sacrifice other benefits from the explosives specialization line.

Is it because World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor is $50? There aren’t that many expansions for games that sell for $50. Usual pricing for expansions are around $20-$30 usd. I thought Arenanet strives to innovate????
Considering what HoT is going to give us as far as content $50 is too much. Sounds like Anet is giving in to power creep. Players who buy HoT will be given an extra weapon set for each profession and 1 extra specialization to choose from…. That seems like a barrier there for players who do not get HoT.
Anet plans to sell each future expansions probably at this absurd price with the inclusion of previous expansions and core game….. Hell that is a great deal if you buy the game when the last expansion for GW2 is being sold.
Why not go the EA route like the Battlefield series…..? The premium pack. $50 for all current DLC and any future DLC.
Anet should have never made an expansion because its just going to separate the player base. The price tag is so ridiculous and it will turn down customers, I have already heard many say do not buy this. It pretty much screws all players who bought the game at launch, since all veteran players get is an extra player slot. Goodbye veteran player loyalty.
Yes I can afford spending $50. No HoT is not worth $50, because I know a little something about value.
So basically I should wait until the game is done doing expansions then buy the latest expansion to save my money ….. hmmmm ok.
Is it safe to pre-order from amazon?

Gj Anet. you just lost paying customers. $50 for an expansion that doesn’t even give a new race or starter area.
You should have stuck with Living Story and ignored the small minority of whiners on the forums.

OP basing your assumptions on a beta that was said to have only a tiny part of the whole expansion is very brittle.
In all honesty though I will admit that this expansion will probably be lacking as far as what purchasers will actually get since core players are getting the trait system changes and pvp modes.
No gear treadmill. I can take a break from the game with my exotic/ascended gear for a month or two and come back and still be competent in any mode with that gear.
If you want an MMO to die out and leave players stranded put in a gear treadmill. One might argue about game loyalty but that is a load of crap. Sometimes people need breaks and want to play other games. Ever since GW1 I would take long breaks and come back being able to do whatever content I want. This is one thing I love about guild wars.
… They are arrows anyway and shouldn’t be doing heaps of damage that they are doing right now to siege equipment such as rams.
By that logic then Rangers, Thieves, and Warriors should not be able to harm Rams when pew pewing them with their ranged weapons.
yay logic . thanks man
The GvG scene is pathetic. GvG guilds think that GvG is 20v20 smashing #1 and dropping AoE at their feet with one small gank party off pin. Its not a GvG at all. Its a team deathmatch with friends. There really is no difference between GvG gameplay and courtyard in spvp.
Until there is another objective other than to just kill the other opponent there will be no such thing as GvG in GW2. Stronghold is probably the only thing close to GvG.
Since WvW has become defensive after this patch it has become extremely boring. The Arrow Cart meta that has instantly formed over this new patch has pretty much ruined open field fighting and makes it nearly impossible to take keeps. You may say “adapt and figure it out” but the only way to take keeps now is by using trebs. Rams are useless because of the AC buff. Catas too.
All that needs to be done is either limit the AC fire to only work if the AC itself has clear Line of Sight , or make ACs do no damage to siege. They are arrows anyway and shouldn’t be doing heaps of damage that they are doing right now to siege equipment such as rams.
That is my prediction. beta in a few weeks. only a select few. Then ramp up to more invites over the course a few months.
Go back to Blade & Soul. :p
That’s still in beta right? I don’t think it has come to the states. Off topic
I agree. Character creation for a AAA title such as this should rival that of Black Desert. I mean look at that F2P game’s character creation. Incredible.

Which MMO’s would you be referring to?
What makes said MMO’s defined as “standard”?
In my experience in other MMOs, generally speaking, same level mobs dies easily. It is only when you fight mobs above your level where you start taking everything on your skill bar.
I disagree with most of what you said. I can train a monkey to play 95% of the PvE. Why would I want to continue such a dull pattern?
I much prefer every square inch of territory being quit difficult when solo. Making grouping much more valuable.
Archeage, Rift, Aion, TSW. Maybe you should play those games passed level 20 and you will see what I mean.
Sticky subject I know. IMO most of the human and norn models are too endowed in the chest area. Its kind of weird seeing my skinny female characters run and big boobs flopping right to left when running have the camera at her back. Doesn’t seem realistic and in this area of aesthetic it should point to realism. Also boobs shouldn’t jiggle in plate armor.

I don’t understand… you’re saying that you’d rather mobs can be killed by autoattacking (which is already very much possible) because having to use your entire set of skills is boring? But… that’s the opposite of boring?
And I don’t think the challenge aspect refers to normal, non-special mobs, just to the extra-freaky new stuff. And even if it were, I wouldn’t mind that much, it would make the zones very different from what we know from basegame.Besides, cooldowns aren’t that long, unless you mean elite, and that’s just whining.
Its actually not the opposite of boring if you have to do that for every single mob you encounter in the zone. 10 mordremoth hounds in front of you , each require you to 1v1 them one after another because you have to use your whole skill bar to kill one. That’s boring.
There has to be varying levels of difficulty and repetitiveness to keep the game fresh and if every mob requires you to do the same thing then it will be very boring. Just saying.
I know that all normal mobs in the game right now can be auto-attacked to death when you are level 80. That’s perfect IMO. Normal mobs should stay the same. Only Veterans up to champions should get a rework.
This design is kind of like raid style open world . The whole map participates in the same goal. Its nice but could have been executed better? I don’t know. I just wish the mobs from the event actually dropped loot.
Just buy the ones you want from the TP. It’s a lot cheaper, and more certain.
Just another way of basing Guild Wars 2 around the TP. YUP just grind your way to getting whatever you want.
Not liking how challenging sounds.

In the traditional MMO every single random mob in the open world takes everything on your skill bar to kill it. This is extremely boring going from PvE enemy to PvE enemy and it is why I stay away from the traditional mmo.
When Anet announced that they want players having to think about using your whole skill bar to kill any enemy in HoT I was a little worried and still am.
I believe there should be varying difficulties of mobs. The normal mobs right now that are not elite, not veterans, or champions are fine. They should not take more than 10 seconds to kill. If we have to use all of our skill bar that means we have to wait in between mobs for cooldowns.
The only enemy NPCs that should have a makeover on difficulty are veteran to champion level mobs. Veterans should be able to be soloed by utilizing dodges and various hindering abilities. Elite should be able to be taken down by 2 players. Champions should take at least 3 or 2 well skilled players.
If I have to use every skill on my bar to kill say a normal non-veteran mordremoth denizen, deer or boar in the HoT zone I will be bored very quickly. This kind of repetitiveness will kill Guild Wars.
Im not using a melee weapon. Any ranged weapon whether it be bow,axe rifle, staff, scepter or pistol the target is lost when the character slightly moves away left or right from the middle of the screen.
Yes they are still on my screen. I have to keep the enemy smack dab in the middle just to attack with a range weapon when holding down the right click to track the cam. Even if im not holding down right click it will lose target when I am running.
Standing still is the only way that you can have 180 degree peripheral attack. The peripheral attack when moving should be an actual cone and not a vertical tube.
If you are moving while attacking a target and the enemy moves slightly out of the middle of your screen you lose the target and stop attacking .
THIS is annoying!
Is the LoS for target acquisition only 30 degrees? It is super small and very annoying, especially in sPvP.
So many of my skills fail*yes fail, not miss, fail to even activate* just because the enemy decides to move 3 inches to the left or right from the middle of my screen and they aren’t even in melee range! This is probably only one of the biggest peeves I have with this game.

Since stronghold is going to be put into the Spvp unranked and ranked matches map selections, does that mean expansion players will be separated from those who don’t own HoT?
Will non-expansion players be able to access the new WvW map? Guild Halls?
What content/feature changes is the core game getting basically.
The bi-weekly update is missed. I barely login now just to get my dailies done and then I am gone. The living world kept GW2 living for me and now GW2 just feels empty.
I understand that Anet is working on an expansion, but did they have to pull their whole Living Story team for resources?
Living Story has turned into extended personal story which is fine , so why not develop NPC plots/growth using this personal story method? Like one episode could be helping Eir defend her homeland from Svanir? Logan being a tool and defending Jenna from assassins or centaurs? Instead they put everyone on a ship that flew off into maguuma only to be obliterated.
IMO the attack against mordremoth cutscene should have been included in the expansion and not as a teaser. Living Story should have kept continuing up until expansion release just to keep players logging in and not logging in just to get a daily login reward.
