You aren’t really talking about hardcore here. You are really talking about vertical progression which GW2 isn’t really about. There are loads of things to do in GW2, but you just have to search for them.
IMO Spvp is where the hardcore people should be, testing out their skills against real people intead of NPCs.
They must be non-combatant of course. No karma or gold reward.
Rewards could go as far as:
Alcohol, Costume Pieces, Tonics, any type of consumable etc. Non-tradable of course so people don’t grind them.
Its just every time I go in one of the cities such as the Grove or Divinity, there is nothing going on. NPCs are just walking around doing nothing and talking in loops.
Put some life into the cities. The Halloween event , and the Lost Shores event were a great example of inner city DEs.
Maybe even decrease the chance even further, but I think it would be awesome to have the smallest of chances to find a legendary from a loot drop from certain monsters in the world. The location could even determine which legendary you might get.
One in a billion chance sounds high enough to where people wouldn’t even try to grind it. Make it so its actually faster to obtain the legendary the original way.
I’m casual in the sense that I don’t grind at all. I have so many alts that have armors that range from masterwork to exotics. I would love this game even more if there was a 0.0000000001% chance that I could find something shiny.
Client Crash to desktop in overflow zones.
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Chewablesleeptablet.3185
When coming from an overflow server into another zone(whether that new zone is overflow or not) it seems my client has a higher probability to crash.
That is just something I have noticed recently since the game population is spreading. During launch I would crash multiple times but I was in overflow a lot. Now I can move easily from zone to zone with a minimal chance of crashing. Yes I still crash and my 32-bit OS doesn’t help.
I have since then underclocked my GPU and have been stable except for when I am leaving an overflow zone.
woot! no more thieves perma stealth holding caps now! just had to say it because we SoS people hate this.
Orr is empty, so capture the temples with your guild.
You can also roam around to kill Karkas in Southsun Cove. Those crabs have plenty of health to go around and they drop Vials of Powerful Blood. If your guild is on the Verge of being bored, attack the karka in the hive as a endboss to log off.
hmm , but what if my guild wants to collect seals for exotic skin armor and have 8-12 people in a party to do it? what if my guild doesn’t like the open world and prefers a dungeon setting?
This would be imbalanced.
I would just move my defensive siege backwards away from the AoE if I realize that it was in a dangerous place or closer to destroy the defensive siege being built.
Of course you would, but then you would lose line of sight of what you once had. of course you wouldn’t be able to use the siege while moving.
It would not be imbalanced at all since both sides can do what you just said. the devs could put a channeling time on getting the siege equipment in and out of transport mode.
Its pure realism. If it has wheels it should be able to roll. maybe they should take the wheels off of the siege equipment. That would make more sense and make me smile.
So far there is no real reason to have a guild other than to chat and play WvW. There is no pve content out there that requires a structured team from a guild.
I used to run the deep a lot with my guild in GW1 and it was very fun. Now we are limited to only bringing 5 players at a time into a dungeon. Yes I know the guild can get another 5 man team but that is not the point. The point is that guilds need to feel they are playing through the same high end content in an instanced area.
Any siege with wheels should be able to move with WASD. It doesn’t have to look pretty; just have the user and the Sequipment move together.
Sure this feature would take a while to come up with as far as animation goes but having this in the game would give siege equipment a longer lifetime.
IMO I think escorting an artillery team of catapults from one fort to an enemy fort would be realistic and would really get some meta into WvW.
Its getting tough out there for SoS. As long as we have +150 points every tally we should be fine for the week at least.
This is very frustrating when a group of 15 cannot cap a supply because a single enemy thief uses all available stealth tricks to hold the cap.
The easiest solution to this problem is to implement the same rules that are in Spvp.
If a lone thief goes stealth in a cap zone the capture meter should go up for the team that is attacking and capturing.
Yah I know there will be replies such as : “You can use this strategy too!” “Just stack up and AoE”
Stacking up and using AoE never really works anymore since the enemy thief can just boundary hop the cap line out of range going in just before the meter ticks up.
This is very imbalanced in my opinion and should be fixed.
I wonder if event rewards will return for escorting caravans. So far when you are being assigned to guard caravans you get no reward from it while a huge glob of people gets 357 karma and 11k exp every 5 mins.
All I am saying is that escort teams need some love.
Spvp dead? No way. Balance is not just on Anet’s shoulders. Players need to find counters.
Thieves for example are not the ultimate 1v1 pvpers. They are easily countered with immobilize , block, knockback. Just a lot of controls and disables is what I am trying to say. If you can make them blow their initiative they are done for.
Less crying about professions and use that sponge like substance in your skull to figure out a counter.
Fine some people have equipment and skills do do it – What is with normal players? Should this become an elite-dungeon only for a selected elite of players?
Normal players can play with other normal players. How hard is it to understand? Or would you like to be a “normal” player who gets carried through dungeons by elite players? I guess that is, after all, the real issue. Not finding a group, but finding a group that is too good for you. Works in other dungeons, but this one doesn’t let you…tough luck.
So elitism is good for GW2? Fractals is a dungeon btw. How is Fractals an elite dungeon. It can be completed with a 4 man team.
Instead of sitting around waiting for a healer , people are sitting around waiting for a specific difficulty.
I am sure people will start to realize its quicker to put together a part at lower levels but right now it looks like people are sitting around for 30 mins looking for a group even for level 2 difficulty.
Why not just take out the saved progress altogether so there will essentially be no waiting? Or at least change the way level availability on teams happen.
I know its easy to get into a level 1 group now but down the road , levels 1-5 will probably be impossible to play in.
I was already denied a spot in a party because I was not in level 2 difficulty.
This means people who don’t run fractals now may never have a chance of getting into it later.
I thought I read that the fractals dungeon will take the difficulty from the player that has gone the farthest and make it available. So far that is not true.
lets not forget that people still believe that tanks are required.
There is no suspense. There is no pause in action.
Starcraft and Dota style games are esports because they have 2 opposing sides building strength before they do battle.
GW2 doesnt have that since everyone has full power and there is nothing to do except kill enemies and cap points that are later capped by the other team eventually.
Arrow carts, and more arrow carts decimate turtles.
Ballistas destroy turtles as well.
Siege equipment is not hindered by the 5-man aoe limit. Even if it was the case, 3 arrow carts hitting simultaneously does enough burst damage to wipe out a turtle in seconds. Alternating 1 and 3 skill does a wonderful job.
Turtles are not invincible.
Plan ahead and just know that there will be turtles in front of doors , near important siege equipment and sitting in Lord Room rings.
If you use cloak and dagger just before your stealth goes down you will stay hidden and do damage!
Brilliant!
Turtling could be seen as an exploit. and should be fixed ASAP.
8v8 hot join is pretty fun until your team stomps the enemy too hard and the enemy then rage quits.
After this happens the server wants to auto balance which splits up the good team and all the pwnage they have done has been for nothing. Points that could have been earned are now lost.
Hot join pvp is great for convenience but players should be penalized for rage quitting just like they did back in GW1 with a dishonorable status. Maybe browser queue should be trashed and we should go back to GW1 type queue. players in parties will be queued together. How hard is that? Of course 8 party slots in HotM is an easy task to do. Yah yah yah tourney blah blah blah.
No , I dont want to do tourney PvP because by now people with 0 qualification points have a snowball’s chance in hell of getting in. Such has been the way with HA in GW1. I casually do Spvp and WvW most of the time so I probably dont stand a chance against tryhards.
Its a real bummer to look at that nice skin and have to pay 30+ gold for something with rare stats.
Sure I could go and use up a fine transmutation stone, but that just adds even more to the cost. I would then have to craft or grind even more for an exotic armor for its stats.
So what I am saying is that Level 80 Cultural Weapons and armor require too much of a grind to turn them into max dmg/stat items. So why not turn them into exotics?
I don’t manipulate the TP so I am not that rich. boo hoo.
Thieves are able to attack while in stealth using the shortbow’s poison field attack. This is probably achieved by switching weapons while stealthing.
Also the revealed status is not activated when thieves attack out of stealth on certain conditions. Sure I think Thieves should be able to stay in stealth as long as they want if they dont attack, but once they use their attack they should not be able to go back into stealth for a while.
Different modes for SPvP , CTF, KotH, DotA, traditional GvG GW1 style.

Posted by: Chewablesleeptablet.3185
Yah I said it like many other people have.
But keep every mode separate from each other unless a player picks a certain server in the browser that randomizes the game modes.
e.g. Tourny mode for CTF that only has CTF maps in it.
CTF in the traditional sense might not work if builds are created with perma stability and such so of course a hybrid should be made.
I hear people like DoTa style……… Couldn’t hurt to throw a dota style map in there. 3 lanes, infinite creep waves. Home base that needs to be destroyed. Random creeps in the map that gives buffs that give absolute advantage to anyone who kills them. Towers in each lane that need to be destroyed and they are autonomous.
I’m not saying Guilds are required for the GvG , im just saying have the setting.
GW2 spvp can’t be an e-sport because its too complicated for the masses. Only true e-sport is SC2. Each player is equal in SC2. Right now some professions are way better than others in Spvp. Especially when all I see are thieves and mesmers in Spvp.
10/19 Sanctum of Rall vs Crystal Desert vs Sea of Sorrows

NA in SoS seems nonexistent. PRX is doing a splendid job. If only HuG and FoE would stay in SoS bl like they agreed to do.
Even with a queue for SoS it still feels like Rall has alot more people then we do. Its crazy!
There have been times when I am definitely within range and getting out of range messages.
There have been times when I am getting obstructed messages when there is certainly nothing in the way.
It really pisses me off when I use a skill that is crucial to getting a kill when I get obstructed and the path to the enemy is as clear as a clear blue sky.
It also seems that when an enemy bunny-hops projectiles will miss or go out of range. Is this supposed to happen? If this is supposed to happen then jumps should use endurance.
It just seems that the pathing of the projectiles need to be cleaned up.
Still objects like grave mounds and roadblocks cannot be hit worth a crap from a melee weapon.
Thieves having infinite stealth? Hack or Trait? Terrible WvW experience
Posted by: Chewablesleeptablet.3185
Okay when playing in WvW my guild came across this thief that could stay in stealth for over a minute and go in and out of stealth without any revealed status. So this thief could literally just backstab in the blink of an eye and go back into stealth immediately without the revealed cooldown.
Some of my guildies did some research and believe it is a hack. Since this thief had no revealed status at all and was blinking in and out of existence 4 times in 2 seconds I think its a hack or big exploit.
This thief was able to keep an entire zerg from capping a supply camp for 3 minutes because of the infinite stealth.
Yah I may be crying about it , but if I knew how it can be done without hacking I wouldn’t cry anymore and roll the thief more often.

Close this thread if this is already true.
I would think this is a no-brainer since dungeons are now being changed to where it has less runs through it.
The drop rate of the exotic gear could even be %.01. As long as there is a chance.
GW1 had a great system where if you kept doing the same thing over you wouldn’t get the best drops possible as much. For example :
Its been a few months since I ran the Deep or UW. Since it has been a while I would be finding more gold item drops/ jshards and ectos when doing a run.
*Obviously the magic find RNG system just needs to go. GW1 IMO had a perfect drop system that made players visit different areas or at least roll different alts/ professions to keep the drop rate high. *
I think 135 hours on one of my characters should indicate that I enjoyed playing through the game and experiencing all Guild Wars 2 has to offer.
From what I hear in forums and guildies, it seems like the general MMO community is so jaded and used to their old favorite grindfest. What could you possibly expect from any new MMO these days? The possibilities of the MMO genre have pretty much been all used up by WoW just like how Call of Duty has now been basically a monopoly for shooters for the majority of the public.
Some people say this game is for children. Is it because it doesn’t have someone swearing in every sentence they make or is it that there are moral choices in the storyline? Is it because it doesn’t have every NPC spitting on you every corner you turn? Respect is way more adult oriented and GW2 definitely shows it except for maybe the snotty Asura or the Charr.
No, I am not one of those people who will repeat a dungeon a thousand times a day just to get that one piece of leet loot. I guess this is why GW2 suits me. In GW2 it really doesn’t take much to be max power and level. If I can level 3 times a day even in the 50+ levels this game is not grindy at all.
As far as PvP goes you don’t even have to spend one second of grinding to craft your own build.
I will be honest, content in any MMO is so cliched. GW2 is no different. At least this game presents it in a different way by using DEs that are repeatable. Not once did I ever zerg dynamic events to level or farm karma and I have 3 lvl 80s. I have had 3 level 80s for a month now. It is tough to get my fourth lvl 80 because going through the same content gets bland and that is natural.
I come from playing Guild Wars 1 so GW2 is basically evolution. I was playing Guild Wars 1 when I was still in grade school. It was a good fit for me since it had no monthly fee. I didn’t want my parents wasting money on something so ridiculous as a monthly fee so I opted out from the big WoW. I have tried trials of that game and felt kitten while playing. Aion is basically WoW now and it is F2P.
Is GW2 perfect? No. GW2 is a game. A game that can be changed at any time because of modern technology. I have probably already spent over 300 hours on this game and I will continue to keep playing along with any other new game that comes out.
The MMO community is pretty much grown up now and we shouldn’t be overly enthusiastic about anything anymore. That is probably why GW2 doesn’t make you crap gold bricks.
If history repeats itself and when I say history I mean what has just happened with HoD and guilds breaking up,
I am pretty sure JQ will get bored or something and split up as well. I know I would stop playing if there was no challenge. Its definitely not that fun going 30v5 in a server. If world transfers remain free there will always be that one server that the bandwagon flocks to for their WvW dominance which really hurts WvW overall.
Every server except JQ , HoD, ET, SBI are all ghost towns in WvW or only have enough players to max out only one borderlands. Lack of interest is a huge factor in this as well. People who want to play WvW will join the WvW servers which are the ones I mentioned.
Are armor skins from the Gem store infinite uses or is it one time use?

Are armor skins from the Gem store infinite uses or is it one time use?
When you buy the armor skin from the gem store do you get five pieces of each armor piece that are one time use?
If so, not really worth the gems.
How would I guest? The right click on the portrait in the party panel thing? Hitting join in will take me to that server?
So far my guild does not see that my home server sucks in WvW so I switched to a t1 server. I still want to play with the guild but it is impossible to do so since there is no server guesting. I either have to wait 24 hours to switch or not play with them at all.
I like both PvE and WvW but in my current situation I cannot have both. Should I just leave my 3 year guildmates behind or should I wait until server guesting is available?

Later on when everyone has already done story mode there will be newcomers that won’t get a chance to do explorable mode dungeons or story mode.
Why you do you think I say this? Well for one I have already seen lfg posts on map chat where people are now required to be level 80 and have rare/exotic gear to even be accepted into the group for a lvl 40 explorable mode dungeon.
I would make a suggestion, but I do not know of a way to fix this inevitable problem.
At least make explorable mode accessible when the player hits the appropriate level.

Lol if your friends dont want to play a game just because there are no mounts then they must be pretty <insert negative comment here>.
I say bring back the 8-man team for explorable dungeon for guilds. 8 man teams in GW1 was a good size.
I end up hiding them because they are too big.
Honestly they look like they came straight out of World Of Warcraft. I would say get rid of them but that has no possibility.
Making the shoulder armor smaller would make them look a lot nicer and make the character look less bulky.

Right now I am using a very old graphics card(nvidia 9500 GT) for GW2 because it runs stable for GW2.
My original graphics card when I started playing GW2 since betas was a Nvidia GTX 550 Ti.(It seldom crashed in beta) Since the game’s launch I have been crashing everytime I zone while using that graphics card.
There are many people that have the same problem as I do and it is very frustrating to not be able to use my good GPU and have smooth graphics.
Is there a place I can look to see if the devs are making any progress on this situation?
It’s not the “devs” place to fix it, the problem is with your card and it’s drivers, there is not much the ANet can do about it. I run a 570 and I have never crashed. If you have not tried it don’t just download the latest drivers, get the current beta drivers and see if those run any better.
But it is up to the Devs to work with Nvidia or ATI to cooperate and fix the issue. There are probably thousands of people out there that are not computer savvy, but play GW2 and when the game crashes for them they will get angry.
Why should I change something when the game was running fine in beta? No sir , it is not about what I have to do. It is Anet and Nvidia/ATI that have to do something.
It locks you from using dodge and it is frustrating. I know there are two skills you can use to evade with the sword but I want to dodge in the direction I choose.
I dont know what you are talking about OP. I have raised all my crafts so easily without using gold at all. You must be doing it wrong IMO.
Only make additions to the game that does not change the original formula.

The topic says it.
If the formula is changed then the game will be trash just like all the other MMOs out there.
This game is unique in that it puts many of the good things from other MMOs and puts it all into one game while improving. It may not be revolution, but it is evolution.
I like suggestions that do not destroy the original idea of the game. Additions that the OP has suggested does not change the formula of how the game plays and I admire that.
So you want a game where , time played> actual skill? Please. The conquest pvp the devs have made so far is good for now and I do hope there will be more modes, just not your stupid WoW arena.
There is no competitiveness unless everyone is on equal playing fields. WoW and many games like WoW are in no way competitive once you put a gear grind in.

Fay my problem isn’t that I can’t judge the distance on a flat surface my problem is the distance “changes” when not on a flat surface. Have you gone to a rolling hill area and used the same skill? It will tell you out of range even though it should or when your casting at something as running up a hill. I have always felt that distance isn’t like laying a string in a straight line across a flat desk but taking the same string and putting it on an arch or taking the same string and then putting it over a bunch of small arches.
I don’t want to have to be a savant mathmetician to have to figure out max distance for all different scenarios.
I think the idea of having a mark on the ground at max distance if you do any distance max skill would be great. it also would help out with targeted AoEs and other items as well. I had not even thought about those.
Yes I agree the measurement for distance should be horizontal only.

crafting. working on getting legendary recipes. Starting more alts! I have 2 lvl 80s now!
Server load is very heavy right now. I really don’t think any company could have ever predicted the flood of players.
They didnt raise level cap in GW1 when expans came out. Why would they do that here? Leveling is not important in GW , shinies and content is the best thing PvE can offer.
Still lots of performance issues to be addressed especially with graphics card compatibility.
no mounts please. we don’t need them. they would feel out of place. now vehicles would be more like it.
Most events in the 50+ levels are getting stuck or glitched. They need to be taken care of.
This is probably because there was no open beta so the masses could not test the later level areas.
Sooner or later people will start demanding others to show how many tokens they have for a dungeon before letting them in. This is going to be a huge problem for newcomers.
Economy is chaotic and I love it.
The zerging of events need to stop. There needs to be some event reward cap every 24 hours for certain events. This way players will move to other zones. Some zones right now are empty because a zone of the same level range is being zerged to death.
