They need to earn money aswell you know. Us buying gems and supporting the game can’t cover all the expenses for you cheap gold-gem players.

show me where it says Anet is under budget. Bring up market resources for me. As an above poster said , there is an expansion on the way which should bring in more cash.

And…. you just called out people who don’t buy gems with cash poor. I for one don’t like to throw my money away on micro transactions. They are vapor investments. If using gold to get gems is the only way for me then so be it. I will just be kicking and screaming while I grind away.

Don’t ever claim to be better than someone just because you can throw cash away. In one way or another we will all end up six feet under or turned to ash as equals or rotting away.

I just hope that in the future that new armor skins are actually obtained through content. Why can’t things be structured like dungeon tokens or something? At least dungeons are easy enough for anyone to get what they want quickly without grinding for days on end. If not then I guess grind away.

Oh for the love of……. -sighs-

People complain about everything being in RNG boxes and demand more items be sold directly in the gem store, and now that we have a new skin in the gem store people complain about that. Seriously sometimes I’m glad Arena Net just seems to ignore half of the people on these forums.

I guess some people like playing the gem store. I actually like to play the rest of the game.

From what I have read, you can only get the Aetherblade Armor from the Gemstore.

My first response is what the hell? Why can’t I earn the armor skins by doing objectives?

Yes, anyone can buy gemstones via in-game gold, but when all skin content has to be obtained by grinding and farming gold it becomes extremely boring and disappointing.

I am really disappointed in Anet’s decision to not challenge the player. I guess that is the logic behind this. Anet is afraid to challenge the players so they put everything on the gem store so anyone can just grind their way or spend cash. I don’t really blame them. If they made content or a challenge there would be players crying on the forums.

There really is no such thing as a challenge anymore in MMOs. Its just a grind.

Living Story = infinite content

in Living World

Chewablesleeptablet.3185

I don’t think people get what Living Story is supposed to be.

Living Story has temporary content because Anet wanted to make GW2 like a living , breathing world. How can they do that if say the molten alliance stayed in the shiverpeaks and west ascalon? Having temporary content gives the option for developers to overlap or use zones more than once.

So what if new players won’t be able to experience Molten Alliance? As long as they play they will be getting new living stories.

Missing out on skins?? No bid deal IMO since living story provides players with new skins every content release every month or so.

Content does not equal vertical progression. Lets get that straight. Content is lore and exploration and new shinies.

If the player does not care about the lore or roleplaying then why even bother with Living story? There are definitely players out there that know better and don’t even touch living story because they don’t care about lore.

As long as Anet keeps pumping out living story content on a monthly basis no one should be complaining about temporary content.

Same as every one else in this thread I am getting serious lag. I used to not lag at all but now I get a huge lag spike whenever engaging a fight or even just randomly.

This lag is not a 5 second thing. It can last up to 10-20 seconds with the whole population in my zone just standing completely still or locked in a loop, running infinitely in the direction they were running when I hit the spike.

I can play other online games just fine so whatever Anet did after the latest patch is ruining my game experience.

The respawn rate is acceptable. If you are in a rush to get somewhere….. Use a waypoint for god sakes

Sure. That doesn’t work in Orr, though. Almost all waypoints there are contested, and moving around the area to reach the waypoints and free them is such a pain that almost no one bothers.

Regarding the parts of the game that are fun, I agree with you. Regarding Orr… No.

They wouldnt be contested if you could get a group together and do some events…….. This is an MMO where players get together and play you know?

Shoulda Woulda Coulda ……. If Orr isn’t fun then why be there? Frostgorge Sound and Southsun Cove are both level 80 areas and the fireheart rise is high enough to get T5-6 mats.

If the game isn’t fun why play it? Who are you playing for and are you getting paid for it?

To say you are skilled in PvE is like saying you are good at putting a fork in your hand.

No matter what Anet does the content is going to be easy. It comes down to the combat mechanics and the AI. PvE mobs just don’t have enough variety in the skills that they can use.

Most PvE mobs only do 3 things now as far as mobility. They either bee line towards you, stay where you aggroed them and range you, or run away at low health. They all need better movement such as dodging.

There are too few skills and not enough randomness. The mobs will actually wait for you to use a certain skill before they use whatever skill that CCs. Though this is good for interrupting the player it is just too predictable.

So what PvE mobs need is more skills , movement, and randomness.

The gem store sells cosmetic items. Skins are cosmetic items. Your exotic pearl greatsword will not do less damage than my exotic whatever-skinned greatsword. You do not need to have the skins in order to be on par, combat-wise, with people who spend real money on gems, or buy gems with gold. That was the intention all along and they’re not going to change it just because some players feel they are entitled to have skins that employees have spent hours drawing and modelling without paying real money for them.

Since everyone can hit that power ceiling easily why must everyone spend more cash to look good? Entitled means receiving without work or effort from work. It wouldn’t be entitlement if players had to kill something in order to get a reward. Hell Anet could make a scavenger hunt or something…….Look at the Sclerite Karka backpiece!

Chewablesleeptablet.3185

They have been selling skins that are exclusive to the Store since Guild Wars 1. This is something that has been known since before the game released. The only thing I can agree with you is the gambling involved. I would prefer to have the skins available for X amount of Gems. But other then that, I disagree having skins in the store exclusively is a bad idea.

The skins that were sold in GW1 were minimal. It just seems that Anet is never going to release anymore skins unless they are sold in the Gemstore or from temporary content(which I heard they are not going to do anymore I pray).

Seems as though the only real way to get the new skins from the new content is through the gem store. This IMO is a terrible decision by Anet.

If people don’t want to spend the cash they have to grind for hours on end. This is starting to sound more like a f2p business model. GW2 was supposed to be B2P.

Why can’t players get skins the reasonable way? You know, without having to get a super rare drop chest, then getting the super rare weapon ticket?

The Reasonable way would be getting the weapon/armor skins to drop from enemies in the appropriate zone. At least then people could sell the skins on the TP or maybe even give them to friends.

Same goes with town clothes. Why can’t we earn those from other means; such as doing an event in major cities? Oh wait, there aren’t any events in major cities, the cities are static.

All Weapon and Armor skins should be obtainable by actually playing the game. Not by farming gold, then converting it to gems, then buying keys or the skins in the gem store. It is very boring that way. Lets not forget how bad the RNG is.

TL:DR

Everything should be obtainable from in-game activities instead of wasting money in a gemstore. The boosts can be left in the Gem store for all I care.

You’d have a point if this was a sub game, but it isn’t. Real money stores are a part of the bargain for the buy to play model, just something you have to deal with.

And a sub game has what to do with this? Is Anet really under budget? If Anet was so strapped for cash , then why don’t they get their daddy “NCsoft” to front them some money from the success of the publisher’s game pool? At least make it so there is no RNG, and the skins are like 100- 200 gems each. The exchange economy would balance out whatever happens.

1. A use all selection would be nice. Anet is killing my mouse with all the left clicking I have to do on stacks of usable items.

2. A Deposit Collectibles selection in the merchant window. You know? When you are trying to sell all your junk quickly and you have to click in between your craft materials. This button can be right next to Sell Junk.

3. Disable right clicking on the target display on the top of the screen. When I am in pvp combat I hold down right click most of the time. This means I sometimes mouse over the target display and accidentally make a drop-down list of options on what to do such as whisper, report, block. This really messes me up.

4. Even Smaller UI option. I want to see less and less of the UI these days and more of the world.

If anyone has any other suggestions feel free to add them.

The object is to minimize the amount of clicks it takes to do something, or to reduce human error.

Lets be honest. Everyone would rather reset the dungeon level when they fail at leaving a chanter alive because the difficulty for that part is very steep.

I have been looking for videos on youtube on how to beat that part legit and I can’t find any. They always explain the cheese way.

The arms part needs to be looked at IMO. A party can have already finished 2 levels previous and then they run into cliffside, which is definitely one of the harder ones because of the damage of the millions of chanters and healing rate of the seals. The difficulty of cliffside is not on par with the other fractal levels.

What does genre have to do with a game’s music? Isn’t GW2 an RPG as well? I don’t see your point in saying that first line. I wasn’t talking about anything other than the music quality. Are you saying that single player RPG’s generally have better music than MMORPGs? Why can’t it be the other way around? I will leave you to answering that one for yourself. That being said…..

Music “can” account for almost half of a game’s success. Music sets the mood for many things. This game has many soundtracks, but they all sound the same. Pretty much what PSY did with “Gentleman” and “Gangnam Style”.

Poor music IMO

Chewablesleeptablet.3185

Jeremy Soule is good at composing music , but most of it sounds the same.

If you take a look at the Final Fantasy series and how many tracks are made for each game , more so the FF7-9, you will see that there are over 30 tracks for each game that are all unique.

GW2’s music is just not that catchy. Some of the tracks are even from GW1.

I usually have my sound turned off when playing GW2 because I am playing old music from Final Fantasy. Nobuo Uematsu is a god in composing music compared to the composers here at Anet.

I guess what I am trying to say is that GW2’s music lacks emotion. It just tries to fit the atmosphere and it fails.

You may say that people play “just for fun”, but that’s not true. Take away any and all rewards including drops, armor etc from an MMO and see what happens.

I remember when people played Goldeneye. There were no rewards for beating your friend sitting next to you. Think about that for a second. Why should it be any different for an MMO? Dota 2 is doing fine as well. HoN.

I mean really what do people do after they get the reward they worked so hard for? Do they still play afterwards or do they quit and play another game?

My original MMO was EverQuest 1 and that will always be the best MMO ever made (pre easy mode). It’s unfortunate that they changed it to be as easy as all other MMO’s out there.

Disclaimer: Of course I realise that GW2 is not the game for these ideas and that most players probably don’t want them but this is what I miss in an MMO.

  • Leveling
It should take a long time to get to max level, event months so you feel like you have actually achieved something.
  • Non instanced open world raid bosses.
It was awesome in EQ1 to move through zones when a raid boss was up and could one shot you if you took one step too close.
  • Large scale raids
Targets that take up to 50+ players to take down and that involve strategy. Make the raid wipe numerous times until they figure out how to do it and still then make it difficult.
  • Death penalty
Make you lose half a level worth of xp and your gear/inventory when you die so you have to travel back to retrieve it. That makes you think twice before you attack something. Make you go back to whichever city you have bound your character to last.
  • Trinity
Killing mobs should require a tank, healer, cc/slower and dps to go smoothly. If you can kill without the required classes then your target is much too easy.
  • Mounts
I want to ride a horse to travel faster. I don’t want waypoints/teleporting.
  • Factions
Please make NPC’s attack me if I’m an enemy to their faction. Let me grind a faction to be liked by another.

Good list, I long for the days when people had to actually try in the games they play.

taking days and weeks to get something has nothing to do with trying. thats just grinding and pointless and takes no amount of skill whatsoever.

It ruins the game for people who actually want to play as crab toss was intended. It is sad that people don’t like to compete in a game that was made for competition for the sake of a few measly achievement points.

There is a difference between earning achievements and cheating to get them. It is pathetic that people have to find exploits or different means to getting achievements. If you can’t get the achievement normally than you have no business playing that type of content, but of course you could just practice and get better.

I was called out because I was playing crab toss normally and these players were saying I was ruining it for them. I tried to tell them to challenge themselves but they just continued to call me kitten and such.

How can Anet deter these carebears? The content is easy enough , it just takes a little bit of time. I would rather have a game that had less carebears and a small population than a sea of whiners.

Players act like if they can’t get what they want as fast as possible the world is going to end. It is a game, nothing more.

I admit I am complaining about the complainers. It is just sad that people don’t like challenges. Jumping puzzles for instance are easy , but surprisingly some people can’t take the time to figure them out. They would rather cry on the forums.

Chewablesleeptablet.3185

yah, and gw2 is easier than all you just explained. dungeons in GW2 have that very same problem, just ten times worse because of diminishing returns.

you could yawn your way through because of the right build set and correct gear. The addition of those heroes really did make the game easy mode , i agree.

the road to getting stuff and completing your objectives in GW1 was just all around better IMO. When you get something in GW2 you aren’t really surprised or excited to use that item.

Maybe its because GW1 had a better way of modifying your current gear so you wouldn’t have to spend hours on end to grind on something that wouldn’t be any stronger than your current build.

At least in GW1 your face roll was because of a good build and not because you had berserker gear and just hit 1.

The impact of choices that you make in battle aren’t really noticeable. I can autoattack the enemy to death or press all my skills and still kill the enemy in the same time in general PvE scenarios.

This is the feeling I get most of the time.

Then again I tend to try to change things up with certain condi builds that take more than one button to be effective, but kitten it takes a good amount of grind to get those stat gears.

In all seriousness it takes much longer grind to get where you want to be in GW2 than it did in GW1.

These videos pretty much sums up how GW2 is compared to GW1…. though it is meant for Castlevania1 and 2 and 4. It just feels like you can say the same about GW in terms of gameplay and grinding.

I have played since beta, and the Koolaid is wearing off. The game is so much easier than GW1 and is much more grindy. I guess Anet was really trying to get those WoW players and GW1 vets where to just bend over and take it.

Sure it takes only a few gaming sessions of grinding to get a few exotics, but the journey to getting that armor is very dull.

I’m just saying the drop rate could be better and the difficulty could be much harder. Harder than Southsun cove with more frequent loot drops that actually matter would be nice.

I had a laugh at those videos.
