No matter how you slice it. Precursors are easy to get. Just grind a world boss, dungeon, event, or buy a precursor in TP. Precursors fall into the laps of many. Crafting a precursor would be great.

Of course you should go through a scavenger hunt to find the secret recipe.

World Bosses need to be Epic!

So far world bosses might be epic in size , but they are not epic in game play. They are very stationary and require little skill to kill.

Every dragon boss is too easy to kill. All you got to do is stand on the left or right side of them and press your ranged number 1 skill and relax. Sure you can speed things up by defending turrets and not get any reward for doing so( thats just my assumption since no one ever defends the turrets for Tequatl or Shatterer).

Why not make these gigantic creatures move to distant(but still in the same zone) locales when they reach a certain threshold in their health? Make them random if you will. Players will disagree because they are so used to just being easy for them.

When you are fighting world bosses that can be high reward with little effort it is a grind. Again players will say “I want it this way because I want my precursor fast!” , but I am a player and I am able look back and say that this is very boring, precursor chance or not.

World Bosses should be able to move around and chase targets. It will make players move. The easy flank needs to go.

I’m not saying that bosses should be one-shotting players. They just need to be able to hit any player in the vicinity with big damage and it has to be noticeable by the player so he/she can move out of the way. More champion minions should also be added in since any other type of add just melts away.

A world boss is kind of like End-game for most players.

It is way too easy for me to call it anything other than a care bear’s free ticket to awesome easy loot.

Until then World Bosses will be stale and we will all be pressing 1 until it dies.

I must be the biggest pro ever ,but thieves are nothing 1v1 against me. The only time a thief will kill me is if I’m not at full health or some of my skills are on cooldown. I run multiple professions and I have not died from a 1v1 thief encounter other than the scenario above.

Seriously , there is nothing wrong or OP about stealth. Thieves are so predictable and you should never be dying from them especially if they are glass cannons. Thieves are meant to be finisher profession. They are great support finishers.

If you are dying from a 1v1 thief , it is your build or your personal player skill. A single block can turn the tide in your favor against a thief.

Thieves are all about rhythm and if you can break that rhythm you have them killed.

PFFT thief stealth OP lol. Thats a joke.

Yup lets see everyone run around shooting off flying unicorns. What I am trying to say is, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,NO.

A precursor should be a treat , not something you grind for. If I play for a year and not get a single precursor so be it. Legendary Weapons are only as strong as exotics anyway, and I hope they stay that way.

Spvp has lots of potential to be great. Different modes other than capture points is a must.

Remember when GW1 had all those cool different modes like annihilation? Thats what GW2 needs.

I think PvErs would Spvp more if the rewards were able to be shown in PvE. Yah sure you can /rank and have that feather in your cap title, but that just isn’t enough for PvErs to be interested.

What I really want to see is the ability to skin your PvE armor with the skins you can get in Spvp WITHOUT having to use fine transmutation stones of course. Treat them how your Hall of Monuments skins transmute. Or at least make a Mystic Forge recipe to do this.

I have no idea if this already exists, if it doesn’t it should. GW2 does not really tell you everything that you can do with the stuff you get.

In the past I used win7 32-bit and Gw2 would crash whenver I put graphics settings on medium or above when zoning or it would just crash out of nowhere.

Switching to Win8 64-bit has shown a huge difference in quality and I have had no crashing so far. The Witcher 2 use to crash on me, not anymore!

2.8 quad core cpu, 4gm ram , nvidia 550ti.

crap specs in the gaming world but it is plenty to run this game in beautiful high settings with 40-50 fps in PvE or Spvp.

Anet built this game around the 64-bit interface and that is why many players still crash.

Okay, I'm super furious now. Any fix soon?

Usually a gaming computer has 64-bit OS. I just switched from Win7 32-bit to Win8 64-bit and there is a huge difference in performance.

No crashes so far and can run on medium/high settings. 1400X1050

4gm ram is plenty.

the movement speed loss does not stack. So basically there is no reason to have cripple if your chill can last just as long.

the SoS community as a whole cared little about what happened in WvW except for the big guilds that defended in WvW. SoS WvW started falling apart after 2 guilds left because they couldn’t handle JQ which was weeks ago. This destroyed the morale of the rest of the SoS community. Our militia was nonexistent since they all hopped on JQ.

There was only one solution to this; Consolidate WvW guilds onto another server that shows promising tier 1 attributes. Sea of Sorrows is just a name. The WvW guilds in that server are what gave the carebears the world buffs and now they won’t get them anymore once they sink to tier 5.

Transfering to another server was the best thing to do instead of sitting on SoS and looking at JQ full capping because of numbers.

No one is forcing you to get ascended gear. Once you hit level 10 in FotM a ring will simply fall into your lap eventually. Daily achievements take 5+ mins to complete so laurels stack up.

If you dont like FotM its because you don’t like a challenge.

True Story: Some one left on our FotM team level 1 difficulty because he/she thought it was too difficult. Granted it was the dredge level but still easy once you know what to do. Level 1 scale difficulty ! Seriously !

Legendary weapons are still only as powerful as exotics…….. SO why cry? Exotics are still the easiest and best gear to get in PvE. SPvP it doesnt matter so why cry? Why even have a vertical progression if exotics are good enough to handle PvE? Surely you can’t think that building your gear up for SPvP is going to help you. ;p

The only reason why Anet thought that Ascended Gear was a good idea was to satisfy players who like vertical progression. Now we have players changing their minds or something. I don’t know what it is with GW2 community. They want something and then once they get it , they don’t want it anymore and say its game breaking.

The only thing I can say about guild missions is if you have a small guild and want to do guild missions why not recruit more players? Better yet join a large guild with a big PvE reputation. Again, no one is making you do anything.

This new content is a great addition to the game. Its just there for me if I really want to do it. If you want to do this content get involved with your community. Its way more fun to try and get stuff together with people than to whine on the forums. Its like saying nothing is changing while you are sitting on your couch with a bag of chips.

Let’s say all the players of a “Full” server decide to quit playing simultaneously for about 3 months.

Will that server be unavailable for new players to join?

I believe server populations for certain servers have decreased in the past months. Their status may say they are full but in reality not many players are really on that server.

How would Anet combat this if this scenario is possible?

Does the server limit change when there are less players on at any given time?

been running this build for a month now. high healing power with heal bombs gives me 200 AoE heal to nearby allies and regeneration while using a kit helps me last that crucial second longer. 1k dmg a bomb with trait for larger radius and 10% more damage.

I used mine instead of the wrench though. 20/0/30/20/0

thieves are dead with this build. also go pistol/pistol for added damage / confusion , burning , and poison . Rifle is only good for the immobi and leap.

and dont forget, this build is also invincible in PvE.

Take away scoring, solves problems.

I am aware that WvW will be getting some love soon.

If scoring is taken away then servers can be matched up randomly. This will change up the tempo of each matchup. I’m pretty sure JQ, SoS, and any tier 1 bracket are tired of facing each other and would like a change of pace.

Keeps and forts would be watched over instead of just capped for the tick.

No one knows at the moment if the reward system will improve for WvW. I have doubts. Badges of Honor rarely drop. Weapon or gear drops that are either rare or green are almost non-existent.

All scoring does is keep the same servers fighting each other for weeks on end and it tends to get boring or demoralizing depending if you are winning or not. Skill does not get points in WvW, 24/7 coverage does. GW2 was supposed to be skill based , not a overwhelming numbers and night cap game.

SoS Mercs still prove that they are the crushing force of Oceanic timezone. Sadly we do not have the numbers so we cant be everywhere at once.

SoR should have taken Hills from JQ light years ago , instead they want to take our bay when JQ is trying to take it as well. SoR must be too scared to fight JQ.

Anet should have just implemented paid transfers without announcing , because now we have three tier 1 servers that will always stay in tier 1 with the eventual 3rd place going to tier 2 for at least a week.

Anet simply destroyed all hopes for any dead server to be revived in WvW unless of course people pay for xfers.

This announcement of paid transfers says to all guilds to get into a tier 1 server within the time frame for free immediately. Look at Jade Quarry for example. It looks like that server will never let go of first place after this week.

I bet the majority of the guilds who transfered would have stayed in their original server.

So now for WvW to remain popular Anet must have a free transfer week every 1-3 months. No one is going to pay for a transfer unless they are completely desperate for relief, and where will they go? They will go to JQ, BG, or SoS.

Bigger maps would be a lot more fun. Would make for more intimate battles and wider breadth of strategy.

But I guess they catered to the 12-second attention span of preteens just looking to get into the thick of it—smaller maps means more conflict and, yes, easier for zergs to form naturally (with bottlenecks and conveniently placed sentry circles)

Full zergs are fun but I like seeing guilds divide up their forces taking different things. which is impossible right now since a zerg can easily take out one team of say 10 at sunny and then run down and wipe a team at bay.

Would feel more strategic if guilds had to plant guild members in multiple areas to defend or attack for any given amount of time. It has been tried in Tier 1 but in the end we just go ahead and roll out that full server zerg to crush everyone.

So far it has still been the same tactic even in tier 1,
Get every ally on your BL and steamroll everything.

If the maps were larger this would not happen. A full server zerg fest can easily get to one end of the map to the other in enough time to come and defend or whatever while steamrolling. So why do anything else? Of course if the spaces between the forts are extended then trebs and kittenhould get more range.

The point system needs changing as well. Points should be awarded for each capture of a fort , garrison, or keep. Supply camps should only be awarded points after the tick.

I’m just saying that since a full server zerg wasn’t Anet’s intention for WvW.

I’m amazed at all of the posts defending all of these major transfers into SoS/JQ. I’m not upset if Blackgate moves down a server, so don’t take this the wrong way but… People keep mentioning this “goal” of being in a Tier 1 server. What good is a goal if you don’t accomplish it yourself? Moving a guild to an already #1/#2 server is like buying a legendary from the TP. Someone mentioned how horrible it would be to transfer a whole guild to Blackgate only to have them move down to Tier 2. What came next was amazing. “They’d have to spend real money to move back to tier 1”. Are you kidding me? What happened to playing the game and actually EARNING a T1 spot?

If these major guild’s real goal is to be part of a Tier 1 server maybe they should earn it. I’m going to say one more time here so nobody gets the wrong idea: I play on Blackgate. I don’t care if I’m in T1, T2, or T8. As long as there are people to play against I’m happy.

SoS and JQ needed a break I guess. Each side has players playing WvW 8+ hours straight just to hold their BL. I welcome any transfer to SoS , JQ, or BG because it will make the fights more interesting. Maybe it is time for SoS to get out of the hot seat for another week. SoS really needs a Euro guild right now to fill that spot.

Also, it is very rare to see an actual 3 way fight on any given BL since the WvW numbers are not as big as one might think.

Its usually 1 big zerg of JQ against 1 big zerg of SoS with no BG to be found(in some cases) in any given borderland in a certain timezone. There’s just too much of one time zone and not enough of another.

I like the old GW1 armor system where gameplay was clearly skill based and gear was just a way to mold your build.

With the ascended gear and upcoming updates that will make legendaries the most powerful weapons in the game, Anet will be turning GW2 into GWoW2 IMO.

We will probably be seeing more and more gear treadmills just like Fractals.

IMHO Exotic gear and weapons should be the strongest items available in the game. Ascended gear should only be meant for Fractals and fractals should be a place that gets you closer to your shiny legendary (which should be no stronger than an exotic weapon).

Stay true to your old GW1 veterans and fans Anet.

ANet has officially stated that Legendary stats will be bumped to Ascended when Ascended weapons are introduced.

exactly, just because they haven’t done it yet doesn’t mean they aren’t going to. So they are being sold for gold on the TP in a system where the only possible way you can get enough gold for that is if you are extremely lottery lucky or you buy gold from the gem shop. This is what is called P2W folks. That’s what people are talking about. When the only realistic means you have of getting some higher tier armor is getting it via real money. People can make all the arguments they want to about how you can spend 3/4 of a year to a whole year farming in wvw or dungeons but that’s not viable sorry especially if you have the permaDR bug across your entire account.

So how do the people who are selling these legendaries getting their legendary in the first place? Its not that hard to get a legendary people. The only things that are tough to get are the clovers and the precursor. I see full guilds running around with Legendary weapons in WvW.

The only reason why you don’t have one is because you spend to much time whining instead of actually trying to get the legendary.

How to kill the thief in WvW scenario

Stay together in a tight ball if your party is getting struck.

Spam ground targetted AoE on self (Usually thieves like to sit right next to you when they are stealthed)

Spam Melee weapon skills only in case of daggerstorm.

AoE heals help, Aegis helps. Anticipation of the backstab and dodge rolling away from it helps.

Thieves are not OP. Its just only few people know how to kill them.

I swear most of the time players scream at their monitor saying “whats going on?” instead of taking a chill pill and actually pay attention. You should know what the thief can do , and know that continuous dps destroys a thief. Don’t waste time sitting there throwing up boons. Just lay down your ground target aoe and watch him run away.

The only thief that can get away from this is a pistol/pistol thief that uses unload. Most WvW thieves are Shortbow with D/D.

Also players, don’t stare at your skill bar while in combat. This is PvP action combat, not turn based.

Gamebreaker TV questions Anet for letting legendaries be sold as if legendaries were actually stronger than exotics.

This in fact is false. Legendaries are no more powerful than an exotic. The only thing a legendary has is special animation and sounds.

If I am wrong then GW2 Wiki is also wrong.

I happily abide the rules of conduct in this game. There is no sense in using profanity. Swearing is definitely not needed to get a point across. The amount of negativity that comes with profanity is significant and can turn away proper players.

This has nothing to do with being a prude or anything, it has to do with good community etiquette. If a commander or guild member is mouthing off to others in the same server it can ruin morale.

I don’t care how much another player next to you is messing up it is senseless to cuss him/her out. It is more helpful to calmly tell them what they are doing wrong.

If profanity and verbal harassment keeps up in Guild Wars 2 it could turn into another League of Legends or any DotA style game for that matter where mouthing off at your own teammates is common.

Guild Wars 2 is a game and games are there for fun. If you are swearing your head off you couldn’t possibly be having fun IMO. By all means play to win.

thieves are easy to handle.
no one should be killed withing the first 5 seconds of a thief encounter.

All you got to do is dodge, dodge, stun, stun, immobilize/daze. and if you are not built that way then good for you since you picked a build that actually does something for your server in WvW.

Thieves that are built for the sole purpose of 1v1s in WvW is pointless. Sure a thief can kill a dolyak fast, but so can any other profession.

The only reason why you see people cry about thieves is because people use thieves to do 1v1 ganks. I’m sure any other profession has the same potential gankability.

The one-handed sword just locks your movement which is very bad.

In Guild Wars 1 there was a party search panel that was added late in the game. It was a great tool and should be implemented in GW2.

I do not want to go to some third party site to find a group. I want to stay in game and get a party quickly while being able to do other stuff.

I just don’t trust unofficial websites and a party search panel in the game would be great.

Why this has not been available at launch is a mystery since towns are instanced.

20 for portal is a good number.

commanders should always have priority on render. Already I am hearing over voip “where are you guys?” and those guys say “we are right here we are just invisible”.

I think I would rather have stickmen and let them render to actual skins then have them disappear. at least stickmen would give a person something physical in the world to notice.

I miss the 8 man team. When running around in GW2 there may be people around you but you still feel by yourself most of the time.

That feeling of having a common goal is lost in PvE. I think dynamic events should have an even bigger impact on towns and major cities. If centaurs are owning everything in every PvE zone Divinity Reach should have fire on buildings and no available merchants.

A fun scenario of a city event could be:

Find the pickpocket-
City spawns multiple NPCs with the name hooligan or shady resident and the players have to track down the ones that have stolen goods and return them to the owner.

Shortage of alcohol in pubs-
Players must scrounge around the city that are rarely visited for kegs or yeast and barley.

Call to arms-
The city is under attack and some of the guards are not willing to defend the city. Players must persuade or duel them to get them to fight.

The cities really need more life in them.

A have have-not community I suppose that is in a GW2 world. 300g? how on earth does anyone get that much gold in only 3 months release? I am not accusing anyone here but I believe the only way to get that much is from buying gold from the outside market or you play 24/7.

Still casuals should have a chance to stumble upon a precursor , or legendary. Casuals like GW2 but they just don’t have the time to spend grinding.

you don’t get what I am saying. The chances of getting the legendary would be the equivalent of grinding one mob for 3 years.

This is a game you know? To be annoyed at something like this would mean that this isn’t a game to you, but a lifestyle which makes you hardcore. Casuals should be given the chance to get a legendary somehow other than grinding. The small chance I am talking about would be like winning the lottery.

Not sure I’ve seen an MMO forum where this good point hasn’t be made about the gender imbalance in character costumes. Mebbe the EQs and Vanguard aren’t shabby on it, but of the sexy-vs-practical/realistic spectrum I think GW has always edged on the sexy end.

I’m always in favour of seeing balance on these issues (with a similar number of options on both sides), as well as balance on these scales between genders. Having skirts/robes and pants for both males and females would probably satisfy a lot of people and help players feel better connected with their toons and Tyria overall.

It could be argued some things are just not culturally appropriate for the landscape the game is set in, and that is very true for many ideas, but the designers are willing to invite us to suspend disbelief in some of the things we do have available.
I’d respect them all the more if they examined some of the things they’ve omitted (consciously or not) and include them for the sake of fairness or balance.

Light sexy armor isn’t supposed to be practical. It is supposed to be squishy. The sexiness and lack of protection gives that vulnerable feel that you do not want to get hit.
