Anyone here use it? Ever? Last time I used mortar was 4 months ago in WvW and it was barely efficient when trying to hail on people on a wall. Supply Crate or Elixir X is way more reliable.

I think mortars should be able to be moved and placed down in another location if you wanted. The damage range and radius needs to be extended.

The mortar interface should work like BF3 where you can aim a location on the minimap and fire on that location. How cool would that be?

There better be a fix to the exploiting of the cursed shore event that allows players to get 40g a day or players will start getting bored and quit.

I honestly don’t see how people can grind something over and over again. Then again I never played a traditional MMO where it required me to do so.

The majority of the population of my server and many others have flocked to this event and are farming the crap out of it. IMO This is wrong because that is not how the game was intended to be played. Am I gonna stop players from doing it? No. There is no way I could , unless I got a party of people to complete the event.

The devs better nerf that event to the ground before the economy is busted and the community gets even more toxic.

Even dressing could make sense but still hero with full plate of burning kittening raging hellfire of seventh Tiamath and two handed MURDEROUS DEATH SPITTING RAVAGER OF SOULS (of apocalypse) can be beaten by a toon with a wooden sword and shield.

There should be power connected to items, new abilities, which will increase builds and diversity and should make players sweat a lot to get them – so hard or insane mod in dungeons for a chance of getting weapon with unique something in it and account bound so you will instantly be known for posessing skill and talent. No kittening mini.
Everytime I see a person with mini I’m feeling like he is walking it so it won’t pee in his home instance, not competing with heroes of Tyria.

If that shiny player is beaten by a toon with a wooden sword and shield then that player obviously is bad.

I highly disagree with this post. Any player of any skill should be able to get max stat gear. If you are getting beaten by someone who has wooden weapons , then maybe you didn’t really deserve those shinies.

If you want your gear to pwn noobs instead of your actual skill then this game is definitely not for you.

PvP is best when everyone is put on even ground as far as stats. The choices players make on the stat combinations is entirely up to them.

GW1 had the best gear system IMO and that formula should never be trashed just so someone can be so strong that only the “Sword of a Thousand Truths” can defeat him.

There are some new players out there that are good at the game right off the bat. Then there is the majority of newcomers who are not so great.

AP is measurement of knowledge to most of the game. If you see a person with the Dungeon Master title you better believe he or she knows what he/she is doing.

So now that everyone (everyone as a collective majority of PvErs) is Champion farming the hell out of Cursed Shore Embers, World Boss rewards are so small.

They are only a fraction of the reward compared to a single champion and they can’t be farmed every two minutes.

This game is gonna get boring very quick for over half of the gamers out there and the population will definitely decrease in a matter of weeks or 2 months at most. We know the update did not tell us to farm/grind but we do it anyway.

Nothing exciting in the home instance

Chewablesleeptablet.3185

Who actually goes there anymore other than to gather from your quartz crystal node?

I suggest putting dynamic events in the home instances. That would give solo players something to do , and the home instance would feel alive.

The event scenarios could be:

Finding a robber / murderer/ saboteur chaining from events such as a burning building.

Stealing valuables from other buildings or from NPCs and placing them in random locations.

Defending the town square , or central hub from an invasion (centaur, Flame Legion, Risen, Inquest).

IMO Dynamic events should be in every zone no matter the size. The rewards should be determined by the length or difficulty.

Even I’m not happy with the way Anet handles precusors (and I both have a precusor and I’m a rabid fan boi…ask anyone lol).

It’s too random, too hard, too annoying. It’s not legendary. It’s luck. And yes you can farm gold and buy one, but that’s not particularly legendary either.

I think the way legendary weapons are acquired is one of the big problems with the game as it stands.

Anet had to make it where legendary weapons were super rare to get. Would you really want to see everyone shooting unicorns?

As long as Legendary Weapons are only as strong as the highest naturally obtainable gear (ascended weapons soon) then I have no problems.

I also don’t like that it is luck and I wish legendary weapons where obtainable through a scavenger hunt or something. I’m glad that soon precursors can be crafted.

Living Story: A lifetime event

When you look at it, LS is actually permanent since you always will have an event that is tied to the previous occurrences such as the aetherblades coming back. As long as there is an explanation to why things disappear after the event is over the story can move on.

If you don’t care about the Lore then you shouldn’t care about LS. GW2 is an MMORPG so how can a story progress in a persistent world if you can repeat it?

I just wonder when and how these Aetherblades are going to be eradicated from Tyria.

Think of LS as like a book that you pick every now and then to read a few pages. LS has infinite possibilities and I hope they never take it away.

I for one am loving this event/update. The Bosses are not your simple World Bosses… They actually hurt! We need more world bosses like these!

The gauntlet was a great challenge and it was so satisfying to beat Liadri after 50 tries .lol

Anet really just have to make both types of content. Temporary and permanent content go well hand in hand. Southsun Cove was a permanent addition but its a shame its a ghost zone because it does have good rewards like the Karka Queen.

Finally there are achievements that actually are difficult. Achievements should separate the skilled players versus unskilled players. Just like in GW1 PvE where alliances were competing for HzH or Cavalon people need to compete for something in GW2 in PvE. The best form of competition right now is AP.

wow 9 lvl 80s……. oh wow zero deaths…..did you ever go outside of queensdale? Did you ever play any type pvp? Anyone can make an alt, craft it to 80 and just pwn in level 1-15 zones you cuddly liddle bear.

If someone can’t afford $60 to play a game then they have no business playing. If you are a grownup, you should know that $60 is petty cash. If you are a teen , $60 is still petty cash if you have a minimum wage job.

Buy once, play everything in it forever. That is the best deal for any game. Those who cannot agree with that are surprisingly stupid IMO.

$60 is petty cash for people with little responsibility and no budget. Don’t make blind assumptions. Quite a few F2P MMOs have similar deals for similar amounts of money that is kept forever also. They’re usually called “packs” or something other “edition”. When a MMO goes F2P, players who bought the box are called “preferred” and get to keep everything they bought that was a part of the box plus privileges that they previously enjoyed.

GW2 in essence is a F2P MMO since most privileges are low from the beginning and requires monetary investment to build up, like storage for example. Not to mention, no monthly fee.

Except extra storage is bought with Gems , and gems can be bought with in-game gold…………………… So GW2 is B2P , has no essence of a F2P model.

Tell me another game where you can exchange in-game gold for cash shop currency.

Eve online – can use in game currency to by cash shop currency, in game currency to items used to pay for the subscriptions fee.

Yet you still have to buy the game first. You cannot start from trial and not spend a dime and keep playing forever if I remember correctly. You do have to spend at least $15 so it is also a B2P game.

So thats only 2 games in the whole MMO genre that has this option.

Pretty much a contradiction, since if you played GW1 you already know whats going to happen in the Abaddon fractal.

We know about as much about the Fall of Abaddon as we know about the reactor.

Abaddon was defeated and imprisoned.
The reactor blew up.

See?

So what the real question is which scenario do you think would be more enjoyable? This has nothing to do with lore then. No one knows which one will be better. Only those who have beta tested it.

Either way, both fractals will be put in. One will just be put in at a later date. A company can’t just create content that is polished and works correctly and then just throw it away.

Abaddon battle is lost forever

in Cutthroat Politics

Posted by: Chewablesleeptablet.3185

Chewablesleeptablet.3185

As a GW1 player, the prospect of Kiel winning sucks, and yet more intriguing lore will be lost in the annuls of time all thanks to a temporarily lower waypoint fee, of which most people bypass by going to Lions Arch through either PvP or WvW, or just leave characters in their farm spots and using WvW as their access-any-time bank.

The potential of the Thaumanova Reactor fractal, whilst ‘closer’ to GW2 lore, is significantly smaller than what the Abaddon could have been, in the first instance we have a already well acquainted with and incredibly aggravating enemy in the Inquest, who we already fight in a number of sections of the open world, personal story and Fractals; and we’re inevitably tasked with finding out how something Asura related blows up – yay, as if we don’t see that everywhere else in almost every Asura related instance.

And we miss out on a instance where we witness the fall and or sealing of a god, where we could have even been the actual gods or aspects of them in order to seal him away, having to fight potential hordes of Margonites or whatever else from the Realm of Torment, let alone Abaddon himself, maybe for the first time seeing what Orr was like before it was sunk into the depths, before the Charr invaded even. Maybe we would even see the start of the Exodus where the Gods left Tyria after Abaddon fell, the beginnings of the Crystal Desert, the Forgotten fighting alongside as Allies, and so much more.

But no, it is looking as if we are stuck with yet more Inquest, and we have the Kiel-loving, temporary-lower-waypoint-cost-despite-price-being-reasonable, ‘new’-yet-often-repeated-‘hijinks’-of-the-Asura crowd to thank.

No matter how you Kiel lovers try to spin it, you made a bad choice and the whole community is going to suffer for it.

Pretty much a contradiction, since if you played GW1 you already know whats going to happen in the Abaddon fractal.

The Combat in Guild Wars 2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chewablesleeptablet.3185

Chewablesleeptablet.3185

They need to delve deeper into the ‘soft trinity’ concept. This game is way too chaotic and needs some order before any decent boss mechanics can ever be developed. If not, the ‘KILL IT WITH FIRE!’ strat will be king forever.

Two simple changes to go in that direction. The first I have been wanting for a long time, make the bar (6) heal we all have, be castable on others. Same heal and cooldown, but we can burn it on others if we wish. I see zero pushback on this and zero negative effects in PvE or PvP and it adds a great dynamic.

The second is up for debate, I can’t see any real problems but some others may. This change would make CCs way better in PvE. I know a long stun or knockdown in PvP is bullkitten but for PvE, that’s a different story. Taking out an annoying add or breaking up a big trash pack adds strategy.

I’ve played MMOs for a lot of years and IMO, a proper dungeon run should be around 30-45 minutes, with some reaching an hour with a really great reward at the end. No more and especially no less. I see players post videos about 3 minute speed runs and I just /facedesk… Where is the fun in that?

MMOs are going off the rails atm and the first one that rights the ship, will be the next big one.

Any type of trinity is quite impossible since you cannot get your stats high enough for just one type of role. Everyone is basically a hybrid support/dps support/tank support/heals.

What is endgame supposed to be?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chewablesleeptablet.3185

Chewablesleeptablet.3185

If you would have asked me before I started playing WoW, I would have said that you can just get lost in the world, wander about, and spend your time helping others/getting into your own adventures. You don’t need the game to tell you what to do. I was the last of my friends to get to lvl 60 in vanilla because I kept walking around doing my own thing and helping out others. The wandering white knight.

Post wow however there are new expectations and goals that weren’t there in past games. For one thing achievements ruined a lot of that free roaming feeling. There’s now a huge list of things that you have to do to get points so you can get the rewards. And particularly with live story, there’s a ticking clock that’s rushing you into getting them done before the content is over.

Except the living story achievements take no time to complete and as long as you are immersed in the living story you will get them naturally without even knowing. Players are given more than enough time to complete these objectives. I literally spent only 2 days completing both Kiel and Evon’s objectives.

What is endgame supposed to be?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Chewablesleeptablet.3185

Reading on the forums has brought up this question for me. Some say GW2 has no endgame or very little endgame.

What is endgame to you? What I mean is , what is endgame supposed to look like in an MMO?

Is endgame supposed to be the thing that keeps you playing? If GW2 has no endgame or very little endgame then why do people still play after they hit lvl 80 and have reached full exotic/ascended gear?

It has been successfully argued by Anet and fans that vertical progression is not endgame and thakittens just a treadmill that throws back everything you previously earned right out the window. GW1 had no vertical progression after lvl 20 and people still played for 7 years! Myself included.

I really don’t know what endgame means. I play a game to have fun and set my own goals to beating content such as completing a task in fastest time possible, or not getting killed once in a pvp match.

Is it really that hard for players to challenge themselves outside of the game’s own criteria?
