In PvE, when you get downed, you have “a fighting chance” to kill an attacker or possibly escape or get healed by an ally.
In WvW or PvP, that desperate fight for life is pre-empted by a single button press by the opponent. When it first happened to me I was like “what? already? I didn’t even get to try”. When I did it to someone else, I was like “that was too easy”.
Yes I know there are skills to interrupt a finisher once, but that gives a second or 2 of delay before the inevitable.
I suggest making finishers become available once health reaches a little lower. So if downed health is 50%, make a finisher available at 25%. It would allow downed people to do a little damage before dying, and make it so that if an ally is rezzing them, they might actually survive.
Agree. I haven’t gotten further than the first area in Malchor’s Leap because it’s just not worth it without a party of people doing it with me, which isn’t possible to find because there’s no advantage for anyone else to give up their time to help you get exploration.
And having killed 100 enemies and checking my Daily to see “Kill variety: 1” is not funny.
I guess I should have given this a title that at first glance appeared to be an argument starter about ascended gear to get people participating.
Anyway, I think I have it figured out.
I logged all of my alts under my personal guild (30 influence).
Next day, I logged in with the first. Influence was now 40.
Logged in under the next. Influence was now 50
Logged in under the next 2. Influence went to 60, 70.
I think 10 attendance points get added to the guild which you are representing the first time that each character logs on for the day.
And then at a set time each day the line gets added in the History tab “x members logged in 11/26/2012 for 10x influence”. This tells you the tally of attendance points that were added in the previous 24 hours.
They didn’t decrease dye drops by accident and they won’t increase them again, mark me words.
I checked an item that hadn’t sold yesterday, it was still for sale. I considered taking it down but I left it.
Today the item is in my sold transactions screen. Yet I didn’t get the money. It was worth 6g50s and I would notice that. What do I do?
I have read old threads about the mystery of how influence is given when a character logs in.
Wiki says at random times the attendance check will happen and you will gain influence to your guilds on that character. It says repping isn’t necessary. It says each character can get 10 influence for logging in that day if they’re used during an attendance check.
Here’s the thing: I have a guild I made weeks ago just to see how it worked, and it has received a total of 30 influence without having any other members. I don’t represent it, and I log on for long stretches every day. If representing wasn’t required, I would have tons in there by now.
I also have 4 alts, and even when logging in with them, I don’t see any change. I logged in with 1 in this guild (for testing) until it said “unless you resume activity you will be kicked”, and got no influence. Other people have posted that in their solo guilds, they get about half of their alts influence representing each day.
There’s some missing factor that determines if a character gets influence or not each day.
And I’m pretty sure I read that people who haven’t been representing sometimes get influence for logging in.
Maybe with enough personal experiences shared we can figure it out.
Ride the Lightning can fire behind you (all of the skills where this was useful got changed to only fire in front, except Ride the Lightning, which can knock you off a cliff to your doom if the nearest enemy is behind you). It also targets anyone around you whether hostile or not.
Ride the Lightning seems to stop when it encounters a combo field. Same with when Wyrms go underground, they can’t travel through a combo field.
Dragon’s Tooth also doesn’t do damage when you dodge, in addition to reports of it being cancelled when using Mist Form or getting knocked down.
Dragon’s Tooth isn’t a combo finisher since the last patch.
Phoenix’s combo finisher doesn’t execute unless it’s targetted inside the ring of fire. A combo is supposed to happen if a skill passes through a combo field, and while a phoenix passes through twice, it doesn’t execute. Considering both DT and Phoenix give Area Might (to allies), it makes sense that it be granted where the caster fires, the way it was before the recent patch.
Updraft doesn’t knock down bosses reliably. It seems to randomly knock them down. Other times it says “Interrupt” only, but doesn’t even interrupt their attack.
Earthquake doesn’t knock down bosses reliably. Same as Updraft.
Gust seems to only affect 1 character, not “foes”. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Eruption’s combo field executes after the delay and the rocks explode, meaning it happens after most fields have vanished. This is contrary to Churning Earth, where the Finisher executes at the start of channeling, as it should because combos would never happen if it was at the end.
Obsidian Flesh’s invulnerability doesn’t work against traps.
Ice Globe – Could this be made to explode at the furthest range? It’s impossible to tell when it has gone past its range and to time its explosion at the furthest part.
Rock Spray. The description of this is very strange. It does lots of damage up close (which makes sense because it’s point blank), then less damage at medium range, but back to lots of damage at far range. Also, this skill rarely seems to hit. There’s something strange about it’s targetting.
I swear i downed an ele today 2 times 1on1 at their treb and he got back up twice, he said he used the glyph in fire but i didnt notice him casting it during the fight and i dont think i downed him twice within 15s (thats how long the efect on fire is suposed to work), i think there must be some sort of exploit here, i tried to test it but it didnt work like that for me.
If you kill something while downed, it rallies you. Maybe that was it? I have never had the fire renewal last long enough to rally me. Let alone twice. But then again I don’t use the skill anymore because it is garbage now that they’ve made it downed-only.
Why is it that whenever there is a change to elemenalist, ie the description says 8s and the skill works at 5s, the change is always for the weaker. The description gets changed in this case.
When if the description said 5s and the skill gave 8s the behaviour would be weakened to match the description. I have been waiting since launch for improvements to this class and every update is so disappointing.
[Elementalist] Swapping into Air attunement causes character to auto attack nearest mob

Why is no one listening to this? It’s a basic part of the class that is behaving stupidly. You don’t accidentally attack things. It’s definitely not sensible.
At least change it so it only affects red(hostile) enemies, or those you have targetted.
Right, how intuitive.
I wish there was a way to make guild-only tournaments separate from PUG ones. PUG have no chance against guilds. It makes it very easy for those who already play, and very hard for newcomers to get involved.
And I don’t get why it starts the match without equal numbers of people on the teams. That boggles my mind.
how is it saying “2/8 teams” and then a tournament happens? What about the other 6?
Are there tournaments happening but it just doesn’t show them?
The first one I did had 3 people to start. And then another joined. Of course we lost..
The next had a player just stand at the start the whole time. How does it even start without equal teams?
And why are the people in the roster different from the people who I end up playing with?
(edited by Clark Skinner.4902)
I have checked the tournament browser many times in the last 2 days. Every time it says there is either no teams registered or just 1. And no upcoming, no in progress, and no completed tournaments.
I tried joining a team (I don’t understand the UI, I just clicked create roster and then it added me to an existing one). 5 people are in it.. what happens next?
Are there really 7 more empty teams that need filling before it can start? How is it possible that in all of the servers in GW2 there are only 5 players who want to do a tournament?
It’s part of our monthly and we have 6 days left, you’d think people would be trying to get them done now.
Also, what happens if/when all teams do get ready? Do we warp there? Or is there a menu that says “is everyone ready?”. If I go into a quick match, will it cancel the party or pull me out to take part in the tourny?
Well, honestly, let’s put it this way:
You allow someone who has a personal anecdote that it’s broken to convince you, but someone with a personal anecdote that it’s fixed you jump over and bite?
That’s not particularly fair.
You made that up. I didn’t let anyone convince me either way. I haven’t announced to the forum that it is broken. I wouldn’t do that because I know that a personal experience doesn’t mean anything to everyone else.
No you just chose to take one particular person to task for saying it’s fixed using a snarky and exceedingly unnecessary tone. Did you blast everyone in the complaint thread as well? I would hope so since the vast majority of them are just as guilty of championing anecdotal evidence as the OP is here.
A whole thread full of people report their personal experience.
A single person who doesn’t work for Anet announcing a fixed bug.
If you cannot see the difference here, there is no point trying to reason with you.

Um… you are listing all of the skills. Keep in mind you can only slot 5 of them at once, just like any class. The elementals have crappy AI, long recharge and don’t help much. The class has the lowest armor and weakest base health. The 2 heals you mentioned don’t even heal as much damage as you take while executing them, unless perhaps you are specced in healing, in which case good luck in solo content.
Traits are pretty lame and most of them apply only to the attunement you are in. Some are still broken.
The other classes do more damage and have more survivability, ele is just a great support class with nice looking effects. With a lot of skill you can equal some of the other classes (manned by average-skilled players).
So your proof is a personal anecdote then, complete with complimenting the company. Well done.
The change must have happened just after the person who posted that it is still broken 2 minutes earlier than you.
Grey Warden has decided that the problem is resolved, so everyone can be happy now.
Also, I would like to declare that all bugged events are now working because I had some successful events recently, so thank you Anet and everyone can be happy about that.
I’m going to need to see proof to believe this was unnerfed as there hasn’t been a patch.
Grey Warden do you happen to be an employee of a particular video game company who profits from manipulating the customer base?
I have been avoiding a lot of PvP elements because of the extra inventory room it requires.
I don’t open chests, I stack the daily stuff. For things like finishers, boosters, forge components, the storage is a strong discouragement to get involved.
And I have bought 3 bank tabs which are full, 2 bag slots, and alts which are nearly full. I’m not just a person trying to get by on 1 bank tab and asking for free stuff.
I’d love them to trim the edges of windows so there isn’t a transparent area covering another window. Sometimes I want to click on another one but the current window is covering it up. Trim the transparent edges off, they do no good. Also it makes the x button at the top-right difficult to identify which window it’s on.
When I made this suggestion a month ago, it quickly filled up with people saying “I like having ruined materials! Your suggestion is stupid. You are lazy and a bad gamer.”
How did you get people to respond so maturely and reasonably?
I am pretty sure that there is a system in place where using a higher grade tool will cause it to degrade slower. Like using ori mining pick, it won’t always go down 1 notch for every swing of the pick when mining mithril. But it is not at all equivalent in cost effectiveness to using a mithril pick.
strange how a fish can be hiding a greatsword somewhere on him, but all that can be found on/in an enormous armored champion is a claw or a blue mask.
I don’t grind stuff repetitively but it’s obvious the rates have been dropped and champs rarely drop a single thing for me despite me definitely doing my share.
It really sucks feeling like you have to doubt and cross-examine what the company is telling you. But we’re forced to. So many experiences in GW2 have made it this way.
Bumping. Someone has to know if it’s possible and what happens when a leader leaves.
Bowl of Asparagus and Sage Salad (among its line of foods) gives extra damage while moving. This one is 8% more.
I just did testing with auto attack while standing completely still fighting lv 80 moas. Noting 12 non-critical attacks, the average damage is 99.25. When moving around constantly for 12 attacks, the average damage is 99.9.
8% more damage should have been 107.19 average while moving.
This is broken.
“every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot "
The champions spawned by the Claw of Jormag event didn’t drop anything for a lot of people who were actively fighting them from start to kill. Vets too.

My inbox is permanently reduced to having room for 9 messages instead of 10. It gives no indication that there are more messages waiting to arrive. It’s a bug that will probably never be fixed.
It’s a legitimate question that has been neglected and people here and in-game are dying to know.
It’s nice and solo-friendly for guardians, but as an elementalist with a balanced build, these maps aren’t soloable. I feel confined to Frostgorge unless I can find someone who doesn’t mind me following them around.
My staff ele says otherwise, prefectly soloable with right utilities.
*hint Glyph of storms+arcane shield is more than enough defense.
Is there a skill to tell you when an enemy is about to appear behind you and kill you in 3 seconds when you’re trying to make room in your inventory? Because I can take on a young kraka if I know I’m in combat, but when I get a 2 second handicap due to surprise, or if another wanders in while I’m fighting one, there’s a good chance that I’m going to die.
Elementalist, not glass cannon.
Because in WvW 100 people could stand on a spot and be kept invulnerable by a few heals.
They also disabled the more efficient recipes for donations at the forge with this “routine maintenance”.
If someone else kills a young kraka, and I’m standing somewhere that looks safe, I can actually die while opening my inventory because the kraka will respawn behind me, drop me down to 20% health from its first attack (that multi-projectile one), and by the time I close my inventory and spin the camera around, I’m dead.

I could have finished a lot of zones weeks ago if there were people to do PvE exploring with in Orr. People only do zergs there now, and I can’t make it alone. Stuck.
I knew it, they gave too much first, only to justify a nerf. It’s never going to return to par.
Downed used to stop the monthly survivor but yesterday I was disappointed when I got downed, I thought I had lost all progress. But it kept growing as I played after that.
But then I didn’t want my banners & food to run out so I logged out while I got a snack and realized on my return that logging out resets Lifetime Survivor kitten
You can only have a maximum of 4 guilds. I’d still like to know how this is done.
you keep on and on and on and on you become a nagging little annoyance that people just roll their eyes at and keep going.
do you only care about yourself?
That wouldn’t happen to be a personal attack would it? Because I thought those were against the rules here.
Why can’t people let others complain? Why can’t they allow others to dislike the game. Other players’ opinions don’t need mitigating. They aren’t saying you are wrong for liking the game, can’t you respect them the same?
Wow. Nothing more needs be said besides that quote. That’s baaaad.
It takes time and consideration putting one’s thoughts to words, but we do it because we think it might make a difference.
Coming online to check threads I have replied to and seeing that they’ve vanished, it’s kind of disheartening. That time and consideration I donated was erased. It discourages me from offering anything further.
This is a downside to deleting threads. Please weigh the impact to the community and friendliness of the forum in your decisions to make topics go away.
We still need to know. Why isn’t anyone answering this simple question?
You know they’ll be bombarding the forum with complaints if they take the NPC away without warning.
How do you do that? It looked like the only ranks you can give to someone else are the lower ones.
And just to be sure… leaving a guild as the owner doesn’t delete it right? If there is only 1 guild owner, and s/he leaves, does it randomly pick someone to be the new owner?
The question wasn’t about whether transactions affect the rate to any minimal or major degree. The question was “Does it PURELY depend on supply and demand?”
Is it possible to give a guild to another member before leaving it?
It so isn’t purely based on supply and demand.
And they won’t confirm anything. They will just tell you to show them proof that it isn’t based on supply & demand. But of course they hold all the proof and won’t share it. In court, evidence has to be shared. We can hope for them to be fully transparent but…
No one in my guild got a precursor and no one on our overflow wrote about it in map chat, although many posted their exotic loot for others to compare.
Maybe the guilds that have multiple precursors used a ton of MF and are hardcore players. Maybe they used 6 alts to get more chances at it.
Everyone who didn’t get one didn’t make a thread about it. You hear more about the ones who did, so it seems like they’re the majority. No need for jealousy, you’re in the majority who didn’t get one.
I just tried a donation recipe with exotic jewellery that I waited forever to get in the trading post just to find out they have been blocked from being used for donations.
The recipe went through but the items were still in my inventory and no commendations were given. Trying again had the same result.
I didn’t see this in any patch notes, unless you consider removing functionality “general maintenance”.
See, this is where, depending on your view point, I either lose out or am just too principled for my own good.
This is how I feel about many areas of the game. I made a post about the good players getting punished to stop the cheaters, but it got infracted of course for no reason at all.
What makes me wonder is “How did people even know to park their alts there?” Somehow leaks keep coming out about stuff like this that a sliver of the population get to profit hugely from, often at the expense of the rest. Like people will find out a new item is crafted with certain Lodestones before it is added to the game. They buy up tons, sell them for double. We should all be getting this info at the same time, and the first ones to discover opportunities for money making should be rewarded, not people who got leaked info.
About Invisible Bags & Safe boxes. They used to just be invisible to merchants so you don’t accidentally sell them, but some time recently (though I don’t see it in patch notes) they were made invisible to the trading post Sell screen.
Makes it quite a bit easier to go through listings and never accidentally sell stuff. Thanks.
Agree with the person above. Only need to repair when armor has gone red (and I have extras that I swap out when that happens).
Another tip is to use repair cannisters you probably have gotten. Wait for all pieces to go yellow (damaged), then swap out any when they go red. Once you have a lot of red gear, put the highest level & quality broken stuff on and use a repair cannister to repair it all free. If you normally repair each as they turn yellow this could save you about 18 silver per use of repair cannister.
