balancing patch is coming on the 14th so tough it out until then.
edit – LOL I just saw that the OP is an ele. Did you know that the DD bunker ele is the most OP WvW class in the game right now and the only thing that thieves fear? Do some research on the ele forums and respec
I have heard of this build but I don’t enjoy the skill set with daggers. When I practiced it a long time ago, I found it to be too dangerous being that close, but I was pretty noobish then. I see they have fixed a lot of D/D skills since then in the patch notes.
Skipping over whatever Ozii said because he didn’t read the first post and started out abraisive.
Stiv, I don’t remember the time, but I made this topic not long after that. It says “3 days” though, which doesn’t help. We’re against TC this week, so I would guess it wasn’t you because we weren’t fighting them last week.
Creslin, I appreciate the civil way you responded and what you had to say. But I disagree on 2 points.
Stealth grants immunity to every skill that requires a target. It’s immunity to every AoE placed on the ground not near the thief, as everyone is just guessing in which direction the thief/mesmer went.
Thieves aren’t more fragile than elementalists, who are visible, targettable and are only in light armor with the same base HP. Any defenses an ele has are visible, short-lived and have long cooldowns.
I have killed stealth thieves in PvP. It’s not as hard when there’s 1 target (you) so you know they will be somewhat near. When there are multiple targets, there’s no telling who is getting targetted.
From my perspective they have only two classes that can burst damage 1 shot enemies and that’s not balanced at all.
If they want balance they need to make that type of attack available to everyone or not at all.
Agree. It takes me like 8 button presses + auto-attack to do enough damage to kill someone. I don’t understand how heavy armor gets paired with 1-button to downed. How did that pass beta even?

This wasn’t a suggestion thread. Just a whimsical “i wish we could tell who was never returning and sweep their accounts into a dud server”. I fully know there’s no way to do this without making someone super unhappy.
BTW, during lost shores, not even half of the players in my one guild came online. Location showed as Unknown throughout. Guild I started with was even more quiet.
Thats… alot of money, why? O.O
A lot of money? When starting a character, 8 slot Jute bags can be bought for about 30c. That’s not a lot of money.
Cheers.
He’s talking about increasing the number of bags you can equip, not slots within a bag.
No one knows and Anet won’t tell us. I guess it is a combination of online and reasonable-estimate-of-how-many-could-go-online-at-any-time.
I don’t think you’d have trouble getting back in after servers are cleaned out!
Because if they no longer play they don’t count?
People seem to forget that everyone paid to get the game.
Their accounts wouldn’t get deleted remember.
Not all. Some skills fire in a straight line forward that you can sidestep. Others are aimed on one spot and won’t move. Others are targetted AoEs, which are easily dodgeable.
^ You didn’t even read the initial post did you?
But for the record, yes, I do think a group of 8 should win against a single equally powered player every time no matter what class, and if they can’t, there is something wrong there.
I’m guessing this was a hint about Triforge, although it’s not legendary
Not resenting the company, and people to play with.
Sometimes I will switch the audio language temporarily for some relief, lol.
It’s not even a skill that helps them in town. I’d understand if it was a Swiftness skill but it shouldn’t be autocast when there’s no combat, just like weapon skills aren’t.
I put in a suggestion in the suggestions forum, which will surely be a waste of time, to give us an option to disable sounds like this in town.
Frostgorge is great. I haven’t even been to the Cursed Shore yet because I can’t get my daily variety there.
That being said, going there every day for a month is getting old. I can either keep going there despite the staleness, or accept lower level drops by doing daily in lv 60 zones.
Particularly in town, we don’t need to hear “more violets, less violence” 100 times as we craft.
Half of the problem is that when another player talks to an NPC, the rest of us hear the NPC greet each one. No one needs to hear that.
The other half is from autocast skills, like “For Great Justice” which repeat in town. I know it’s helpful to have sound effects while in group combat to better teamplay. But in town, there’s no benefit and only aggrivation.
I suggest making NPCs only play sounds when speaking to the player, and giving an option to turn off combat sounds or at least combat voice audio in town.
OMG I hate this. I ask them to turn it off, but they never do.
I don’t know how it doesn’t drive them nuts, they have to hear it more than I do.
But that would tell all the players that “there are people cheating amongst you”, which would make everyone angry at Anet and feel like there’s no point in playing when others are cheating.
I think it’s a reasonable request to have those bag slots transferred when rerolling.
But it would be a huge pain to implement that transfer and Anet’s plate is full, let alone the 8 more full plates of stuff they’re working on. This will never happen I’m afraid.
To sweep away the accounts of people who will never come back. It’s like each server is carrying deadweight. It makes it harder for Anet to estimate how much load there will be during events, and it probably interferes with peoples’ ability to transfer servers.
I don’t mean to delete the accounts, but to put them all on a dud server, where they could transfer back if they suddenly felt like playing again.
I was one of the people who said he got good luck one day and got good drops, so maybe the rate had been upped. Here’s an update: it was a one-time occurance.
OP, keep in mind you are posting this to a bunch of thieves. They’re not going to be happy with you asking to take away their invulnerability.
The thief really didn’t appear for any more than 1 second unless attacking, and even then it wasn’t for anymore than a couple of seconds. I know I was watching for him like a hawk and wasn’t even able to get an arrow shot off in short range to immobilise him from stealth he was popping so fast.
Shoot your arrow anyways, stealth doesn’t stop it from hitting. Time spent trying to lock on with tab target is time that could be spent simply killing the thief by attacking. Over-reliance on tab targeting is one of the reasons stealth is so effective in PvP.
A lot of those skills REQUIRE a target for it to even fire. But it goes into cooldown if you even attempt it. So you can’t just mash a button as it will leave you with no skills to use for when he does appear. When cooldowns are 30-45 seconds you have to use them judiciously.
No, Crystal Desert.
My immobilize isn’t spammable and my knockdowns need to be right next to the enemy. Both have 40 second recharge. By the time he is out of stealth, appears on my screen and I target him again, my skill channels, he is either mid-dodge or stealthed again, and then I am stuck waiting for a recharge. It just seems like dumb luck is what wins.
He wasn’t targetting me, but he was using at least 1 gun. This was around the east side of a borderlands keep, near one of the towers where there’s a very tall archway you walk under to get into the Tower. I saw the enemy downed marker on the map just before getting the xp.
(edited by Clark Skinner.4902)
When my character goes stealth, it is like he turns into water, and there is a distorted transparency to him. It’s very hard to see, even for me, but it is visible if you look carefully.
What I’m suggesting is that this effect be applied to enemies who stealth. It’s a compromise between the thief/mesmer conceptually being able to hide in shadows/escape notice; and the unfairness of a skill that debuffs the person playing the other character (rather than the character itself).
It would make it still very hard to detect a stealthed player running around, but a skilled player could. It would also make it creepier seeing blurs here and there and trying to follow them. A stealthed person would (as they should conceptually) have to think about when to move, when to stand, and where to do each to be less visible. For people who complain about Thieves being a faceroll class, this would add some complexity to it, without changing any numbers.
An option would be to make them fully invisible when standing still but camouflaged when moving.
Even if this group of 7, was entirely lv 30, which is not at all likely. They should have been more than enough to take out a single lv 80 player. Let alone with an experienced lv 80 helping them. Some were in a guild. A guild who WvW together is not likely a bunch of lv 30s who have never done WvW before, and they had more members around the map as well, it’s a pretty big guild on our server.
There were people who started and though the thief died and they left while more came in to try to kill the thief when they saw him surrounded by our group. Is it likely that none of those people were better than totally useless?
Something I just remembered. We had him downed for a moment but then he popped back up and had no problems continuing the fight for quite a while. There was definitely no time to heal, and the only other way I know of to get back up is to kill something while downed. Is this a thief down skill?
I was at a dragon today and someone who hasn’t been playing very long wrote in map chat gleefully that s/he got a rare item.
It’s been in effect so long that people are thinking this is normal. I wonder if that’s what Anet is expecting will happen with everyone with time. Pittance becomes standard and people stop complaining that something was taken away from them.
I agree 8 people should be enough to down him, but it wasn’t.
And he did down someone briefly. I couldn’t even believe it.
I was using staff attacks. Meteor shower, the #2 smaller aoe, the fire roll backwards, the air stun field, the earth cripple field and the rock explosion one. You can assume that I wasn’t placing them just anywhere. I was trying to surround so anywhere he went he’d get hit by something.
It could be culling, but he was around for 1-2 seconds after appearing, and given reaction time, skill channeling, and his dodge, there wasn’t much that could hit him.
Considering that there are 8 of us, of varying skill. The 2 best of a random group of 8 should be able to take down a good single player. With 6 more to help, there should be no contest. This must have been the best thief in all of GW2.
This thief up against a guild party + some pugs.
It lasted for like 6 minutes and we just could not kill the thief because of stealth.
I have asked on here about how to deal with stealth thieves before and all people said was “use AoE”. Well I’m an ele and I put down everything I could all over the place, but the damage wasn’t enough to get him lower to 50% health (with the help of the other 7).
It was fairly ridiculous. Like this player was superman and we were the goons in striped shirts he was making fools of.
Eventually they chased him down as he ran and I let them because I realized there was more important stuff to do in WvW than make a kill. Eventually they killed him because of the XP pop up.
I can’t imagine this is what the designers had in mind when designing the class.
I don’t believe anyone who says they get 2 rares and sometimes a corrupted lodestone from each dragon.
I have gotten 2 lodestones in about 30 Jormags (actually 1 was underwater so that was apart from him). And rares are less common in chests. I’d agree with the 50% chance to get a rare overall including adds. Never gotten an exotic ever, even with about 130% mf.
about 21 precision increases your crit chance by 1%. So just take your current precision and crit %, and see how much more prec you’d get with the numbers you listed. Divide the difference by 21 and you have your extra crit chance.
it did say “connectivity issues” may happen
well when I had “anet” in my subject line, my thread got deleted despite it not being negative, just a question. So if you do get some official viewage on here, it’ll probably get taken down.
Galrath’s Gauntlets, Aidan’s Pauldrons, Kraka Accessory, 20-slot bag.
edit: This was during the event, I didn’t realize there were chests mailed when I read this.

I haven’t seen anyone use that quote since. If it were legit, I’m sure someone would have posted it somewhere by now. Might have just been someone making stuff up.
Oh lol that was me notifying you.
It was right when The Lost Shores board was archived, and yours was a thread that wasn’t moved to the archive. It came up in search results with the old URL (not archive) but when I clicked on it the page didn’t exist.
There really isn’t any external agency ensuring the people in charge of the forum adhere to rules. We are at their mercy, and they aren’t accountable to anyone. But they do represent Anet so the only thing keeping them in line is that they might drive us out of the game.
They’re newborns but they’re pretty mature.
I like them because they give me more colour options and their home city is gorgeous. I wish I had reason to go there more.
But the hairstyles look like anime characters. It was tough finding one I didn’t hate. There could definitely be more added.
I’ve come to the conclusion GW2’s Manifesto still stands and hasn’t been changed or us being lied to.
Your having come to that conclusion doesn’t make it so. I have come to the opposite conclusion. Maybe I should make a topic announcing it to the forum?
II posted in it and after a few hours it magically disappeared. It wasn’t merged or moved to another forum (Because you are notified if they do that and you can still see your post listed in “see all messages”, but it pretended I would have never written my post in that thread.).
It just vanished into thin air.
It may have been merged into this one. Or they might have just deleted it. I have had messages deleted without any notice sent to my mail. Although it was on a day where a mod infracted me 4 times in a row + that invisible message. I think someone had an unprofessional streak of power abuse.
Sometimes I try my best to engage people in map chat to add a little community-mindedness. I just get nothing. 10 seconds of nothing, then LF2M FotM 12, and then FOTM 4, COF all paths.
The guild sites I’ve seen are out of date. Listings are from any point since launch. I’ve looked for a night time guild myself and the ones I found were no longer active when I asked the leaders.
Now isn’t the best time to start the game I’m afraid.
You look at an Aussie guild?
I did and the ones that I was eligible for weren’t active anymore.
Man if that happened to me, that’s it, I’d be done forever.
With this being such a huge problem, Anet has to have a way to see when huge amounts of money were transferred off of a character, whether via mail, guild bank or trading post.
I’m apalled that they aren’t going to do anything to restore the money and items you’ve gained.
If a hacker bypassed email verification, then all that is needed is hacking the password by some unknown method and really anyone can get hacked, no matter how strong their password is. Troubling all around.
Make sure to change your email password jsut in case.

Targetting sucks.
Aggro baffles me. I don’t understand how it works. I have read the wiki page but it clearly doesn’t explain it properly as I can be the one doing the least damage, being farther away than lots of teammates & pets and getting chased by something big and mean. As an ele, part of the game is keeping distance and keeping moving, but with no way to avoid also playing the tank, it’s just frustrating.
I noticed the aggro range was definitely larger compared to other areas, but this was like 3 weeks ago when I first entered Straits of Devastation.
Not sure if any change has happened more recently.

Because they made new materials and didn’t put them in with other materials. In the very same update they added new minis and did add them to collections.
We have also been telling them. It’s impossible not to know.
I would never play any game for 8 years or pay 1000 dollars to play any game.
I’m also not saying they shouldn’t ban extra inventory slots. I’m saying all food ingredients but 1 have a slot and it’s logical that it should have a slot in collections. Same for passion flower and karka shells.
Well apparently you have never played wow then, and that is fine. Although to presume they are ignoring you is absurd. Maybe they are working on it, maybe they aren’t, seeing as you don’t work for Arena Net and do not know what they are currently doing at AN headquarters to get all up in arms about something your not sure they are doing or not is ….well Absurd.
I would like to see all crafting mats go into the collectibles but they don’t. I am not yelling at them or taking the high road assuming they are ignoring us. Rather I am asking a simple question, " Is there a reason why some Crafting mats do not deposit into the collectibles?" When they come back and say no we just forgot about them then I may get a lil up in arms but till I know what reasoning they have I am not going to get all upset about it.
I agree I would like to see these materials get a slot in collectibles but unlike some I am just asking why they have not gotten one, rather than say Arena Net is screwing us over from pure hatred
Segments bolded are examples of putting words in my mouth or being inflammatory. Please be civil towards me in future interaction.
Please fix this bug and temporarily increase drop rates so that we are recompensed for our unfun grinding these last 3 weeks before setting them to the exact rate they were before Lost Shores began.
Also please definitively tell us how much they were dropped by, how much they will be raised to and what the normal/old rate was so we can trust that you’re doing as you promise. “we aim to” “the goal is” “it should” won’t make us happy.
“•Increased chance to get Mini boosters and Dye Pack boosters from the Black Lion Chest.”
Hint hint. Make it harder to get from the TP, make it easier to get from gems.
Just played a while today and got 2 rares in about half an hour in Frostgorge. Got an unidentified dye too, and some greens and a destroyer core from a loot bag.
It doesn’t mean anything for certain of course but could be the end of the bad drop rate. No patch announcement though, but maybe that’s because they’d have to admit they did it to announce they undid it.

I could easily get 2-3 unid dyes per day before the bug that caused dyes to drop often. After they fixed the bug (and probably overcompensated for it), Im lucky if I get 1-2 unid dyes per week… That speaks loads to me. Same issue goes for loot in general (except for in fotm) since the lost shores patch.
^same
and I don’t do FotM and rarely do dungeons. I do my PvE dailies and gathering in high level zones, same as I have always been.
I’ve seen some bots still, they’re just much less obvious now and they don’t travel in huge groups. Look for the same username every day in the same area just killing and running past nodes (if they gather them, they did it ASAP and are now running around the area with nodes cleaned out).
(edited by Clark Skinner.4902)
If so then they could just do as I asked and make it so a weapon swap cooldown is separate from a 30% chance on critical cooldown.
It may even be a bug. Most people I tell about the conflict didn’t inuit that it was there, and was discovered by people testing in PvP.
Why would anyone pay gems for storage expansions if they let us put these things into collectables?
Obviously they should go in there. Obviously they CAN add extra slots there (minipets, pvp finishers). It surely has occurred to them to do it. But they chose not to. The harder it is to manage inventory, the more money they make.
