The best offense is the best defense. You cannot effectively support or tank in this game, precision/power scales incredibly well, while toughness does not.

It works both ways though. It’s laughable to compare the quality of things like graphics, for example, but what about the amount of content. There’s no way in hell a new game can compete with 9 years of content output.

Does that mean no one should ever make a new game?

Same with balance. Most MMOs during their first year have pretty bad balance, which gradually improves (in some cases anyway). Can you compare a new game to a game that’s had a bunch of years to get it right?

Not in my mind.

Yet again, as I said, It’s a laughable comparison.

Well; first, you can drop the Black Qiraji mount; only one person per server got one, it was a race to unlock the raid.

Second; NO ONE is asking a legendary be gifted to them. We’re trying to get ANet to change the method in which to obtain one. We’re trying to get a different method established, since the current one isn’t fitting for obtaining a “legendary” item.

Third…Just because you’re upset that you couldn’t save Aerith from Sephiroth, doesn’t mean you have to take it out on us. You choose to ignore Tifa and go be “emo” in the outskirts of Midgar and cry over Zack’s sword; because in the end you figured out that you couldn’t live for him.

Because anyone on this forum mentioned Aerith? Lol … O-k.

Comparing a game that had to learn the hard way to a game that came out MUCH later is laughable. No doubt GW2 is a strong MMO, maybe even the strongest on the market as of now, but this comparison is bad.

Legendary weapons should be able to be obtained through your ability to play the game well, not how much time you can waste farming for all the items and gold needed to craft one.
I cannot stress enough to A-Net how many players who will lose interest in the game because the final frontier (being legendary weapons) in unobtainable for 90% of players.
Other games incorporated the ability to perform well in a team, stay organized and play the game effectively and fluently to reach the best weapons in the game, not spending a large portion of your life stressing on forming these weapons.
Please change your attitude A-Net.

Lose interest because you cannot get a legendary? this is definitely not the case. Those people who will quit because they cannot get a legendary gifted to them would have quit over some other pointless reason.

Another game? World of Warcraft? Spending countless resets to hope your guild gives you the opportunity to get a legendary? How many people do you think ever got Ashbringer, Black Qiraji mount? or even Atiesh staff?

Legendaries in all games are a grind, I’d prefer RNG grind then a gated grind.

I completely agree with this, but didn’t see it until posting a similar suggestion myself.

Indigo, I question whether acquisition of siege from the jp makes camping it a legitimate tactic- the bottleneck in siege production is, in my experience, supply- not blueprints

And even if the puzzle were changes to only give non-wve items, and the puzzle were changed so enemies didn’t drop loot inside the puzzle, there would still be campers- this is because these people don’t do it to gain an upper hand- they do it to be kittens.

It doesn’t matter why they’re doing it, all valid reasons. It’s like if I came on the forum saying I should be able to PvP people in PvE jumping puzzles. The zone is the key factor in this, something OP needs to understand.

He has a point, nothing you can get from your personal story is that valuable. As for pact skins, they will still need to do the story line from start to that point to get them to begin with, not a big deal in my eyes since they still have to work for it.

So because they are not valuable people should be able to get as many of them as they want?
What would be the point in having a branching story line if you could just do all the parts with the same character anyway?

Some people like having only one character and still be able to do all the content. As I said, they need to do story line from start to that point to obtain the pact skin, so it’s not like they get it for free. No rewards for your second race, I’m fine with that as well.

It would also be a problem with people getting access to several Pact skins per character and such.

He has a point, nothing you can get from your personal story is that valuable. As for pact skins, they will still need to do the story line from start to that point to get them to begin with, not a big deal in my eyes since they still have to work for it.

Actually, to add on to my previous post, these same friends told me about how they had to continue to run the gear treadmill, and that guilds would have mods that they would run to monitor what your dps was for instance, or even how well the healers were healing, and if you were under or OVER healing, you were kicked from the guild.

Lord, that sounds like hell to me. I cannot fathom participating in that level of elitism; if that’s what WOW is like, why in the name of god would anyone find pleasure in playing it (other than similar elitists of course).

That’s what I love about GW2 so much; the gear treadmill is pretty flat; the addition of Ascended gear was a bit of a mistake, but they have mitigated it with the ability to purchase these items now with things like laurels and guild commendations.

And although a small amount of elitism has crept into the corners – I’m hearing stories now of speed COF runs requiring people to bring specific classes and to link their gear, and if they dont match the ideal stats getting kicked – it appears to be mostly on the sidelines, and therefore not effecting the average player.

Now, I AM a bit bored with the end game content… meaning that there isn’t much per se. They need to improve that.

However, overall, I’m quite pleased with the game, and find it the best MMO design thus far.

You shouldn’t believe everything you hear, if you join an elitist guild, you agree to the terms, full stop.
In WoW I was never kicked from a group due to lack of gear or because I was a certain class, in GW2 I have.

you never attempted a high level raid then.

No, sorry, I have.

then you were required to at least have tier 5 before joining. Also you were required to be a certain type of a class. For example DPS druids had problems getting groups because they wanted tanks with stamina and not agility even. It’s people that do it. And all MMOs had elitist groups. WoW is no exception. Neither is GW2.

Sorry, that is an elitist guild. I never said there weren’t any, only that what he said wasn’t exactly true. I’ve even been in guilds that offered to carry me through raids to get gear on another character so I can raid on that.

The animosity comes more strongly from the wow community saying they play the best game of all time and it will always be gold. I just wanted some clear heads on the subject. My friend not being one of them lol. Wows dungeons are more boring and afk in my opinion. They didnt create paths and each dungeon got boring after 3 runs. Gw offers alot more replayability. And they hold difficulty. I tanked all wow dungeons half asleep.

GW2 had the first dungeon that actually has a boss you can afk during the entire encounter, doesn’t get much more boring then that. It’s a matter of opinion.

which one? I’m just curious.

Twilight Arbor – Nightmare tree. He only attacked melee and there where no spiders, so people just power rushed it and took breaks auto attacking the boss. It was fixed eventually, but it stayed bugged for far to long.

Try it with some of the other bosses though. We’re not comparing boss to boss, we’re comparing the whole feel of the dungeons.

I’m not a fan of the trinity system and never have been. It’s one of the things in the past that has prevented me from enjoying MMOs. It’s always felt too contrived.

And I feel trinity is needed, but it’s just opinion and that is what I’ve said. All this will do will cause hate on WoW.

I expected this in year two, maybe no later then three, not IN year one. I think it’s a step backwards in terms of a complete game.

I am not sure why the 50 silver is required along with the badges… but when you take the total value of the materials required to craft one (eg. the Dreamer is worth 1500 gold in materials alone, including precursor… and yes I did calculate it) 50 silver is a drop in the bucket.

Seeing as I only got the Gift of Battle yesterday, I thought the 50 silver was always a requirement. Didn’t seem too extraordinary, it’s not overly difficult to earn a couple gold in WvW per night.

Obviously they can add whatever original percentage and scaling percentage, but following the same guidelines.

And they will fail again. The game was so popular because of GW1 and due to marketing/advertising the game. Players left because of the content/balancing and this needs to be addressed before spending money on that again. But I agree, the game was like WvW for a long time, stale, with the current WvW updates it’s more fresh. PvP should have priority for the time being, but sadly I do not see it being a higher priority then PvE because I think ANet has dumped the hope sPvP will go e-sports. One can only hope…
