i dont wann play with US or vs US – im on EU and on EU we still have a lot servers with “Character”
we have 2 from this 24/7 (blacktide and seafarers) servers cause everyone and there dog transfer there and think they are pro and they are just what they are – a big blob from everywehre and noone (nearly) wanna be t1 and fight them cause its just boringour ranking is fine and it starts tier 2 and i realy hope we will never have something like this US ranking
only thing anet can do is
- remove US ppl in EU and EU in US
- stop server hopping or atleast set the cap lower than it is now so ppl move to low server and not “full” servers ^^
- and finally stop nightcapping with low points at nightdone – problem fixed

Hey!!! I am a UK player and I play on NA servers, always have …. EU servers are full of … Europeans :P lol
Well that’s great, I know a few EU players playing on NA servers. But I also know a few more who would actually quit the game if their ping where to shoot up. -shrug-
And as for me, I’m Australian and if the servers where in EU, sorry, I’m out and taking my friends with me, ping isn’t bad to the NA servers, but I’ve tried EU, no, just no.

I think a big part of the WvW population are hoping and praying that the next big WvW patch in Feb gives new content, if not, I could very well see a lot of people quitting. Because it’s so stale. I really like WvW, but it gets to a point where it’s like Aion all over again, one big grind.
Also It’s like they forgot how to operate a MMO since the original game, a VERY high percentage of MMO players feel the need to grind the highest vertical progression gear and those players may not exactly want to do PvE(which also takes away the actual WvW players also)

They shouldn’t be able to go stealth in combat similar to WoW thiefs. Although they should have 1-2 ways to go invis, but with a long to medium C/D.
As I said, ranger is on par, or IS the slowest WvW mobility class in the game. Because engineer(even without the 25%) can actually achieve perma swiftness, as can elementalist, necromancer ect.
Is it practical? Oh yes 33% up time movement speed, amazing. I even know people with perma swiftness sets. Ranger just cannot do anything like this.
Runes of the Centaur + Warhorn = perma swiftness on any ranger. Not even going to throw in bird pets, which many people were running just because of their superior ability to hit moving targets.
Does it suck being pigeonholed into a specific rune set to have what many feel is a mandatory skill for wvw? yeah sure. but you could say the same about theives being pigeonholed into dedicating their utility slot to a signet, or necros to spectral walk, or to ele’s being pushed into using Glyph of Elements.
there are certainly faults of the class:
-lack of true pet stow
-pets being garbage in wvw because of aoe damage
-pets being garbage because of swing speed
-pets being garbage because of pathing
-longbow mid/short range output
-terrible ranged aoe (1 option, long cd, really?)
-spirits easy to kill
-spirits only moving with 30 pt investment
-lack of escape skills for wvw
-elite skills generally garbage for wvw because of bad pet mechanics, bad spirit mechanics, and the short range nature of the last option.but lack of perma swiftness wasn’t one of them. not to say im not happy for the buff, cause i totally am. would i rather see us get 1 unkillable spirit of a random animal that follows me around and changes colors to represent the aura we are providing, yes. would i rather be able to use a longbow in a small room without a huge dps loss, yes. would i rather not be pushed into using Snow Leopold Form for an escape skill, yes. would i rather have a pet that didnt die in every skirmish to aoe? yes.

Just to clarify, I mean is the method to maintain swiftness all the time practical? If you have to spec and gear for it, IMO it doesn’t seem worth it.
Also, a simple cripple or chill, which rangers have plenty of if nothing else, will completely override their buff as a result of the speed modifiers work in GW2. This should give us enough space to run and get some breathing room.

You’re forgetting about swiftness, they all benefit from it and can even spec towards keeping it up. We’re defaulted by movement % and they’re all getting that chance. So saying we’re overpowered in PvE is silly, when it’s pretty much true? Rangers may suck in PvP, but in PvE we’ve got more firepower than the norm. Which actually makes things ironic if you think about it, since we’re overpowered in PvE yet underpowered in PvP.

Not a bug rly. It’s a spawn area (one of the small paths, instead of the main one)
If you’re going to go with that, you may as well allow Bluevale/Redwater to be almost completely engulfed in protection on each borderland map so that side has a heavy foot hold into each borderland map, otherwise that screenshot is what happens and It gets old for the defending team, very old. I cannot believe they planned for this to happen, if so, I’m actually pretty shocked.
FA is willing to come third just to make TC suffer 2v1.
Well they have given clarifications or what they knew on this topic, and I wouldn’t say TC suffered much. It was population issues on part of TC at the time of the sandwich incident, and CD is the strongest in the tier at that slot; FA took advantage of it. What happened between them is upto them, and I wouldn’t worry much about it. Nobody on TC is crying about 2v1, but merely analyzing what went wrong and how we could improve and I’d like to keep it that way.
Lol, I’m not saying anyone on TC is crying. Actually I’ve done a lot to help TC defend in off-peak time. But it’s the truth either way.
I figured TC would have a bit more class.
I needed a couple events for my daily so I head into TC borderlands which is pretty much empty. I intercept a dolyak and kill it, one event down. Kill a sentry, another down.
At this time a random warrior decided he wanted to fight me, fair enough. I kite a bit to get my health up and he goes down fairly quickly. As I just finish stomping him, a thief decides to join in. Once again I kite him a bit to get my health up, and he goes down fairly quickly. At this point a group of somewhere between 10 and 15 decides they were going to fight. They eventually kill me but not until after I get a kill of my own.
As I finally go down I’m treated to a nice bit of /laugh from TC. After killing 3 and eventually being taken down by 10 people.
Stay classy.
You may want to switch server if this is a problem for you, TC and FA just simply don’t like each other, heck, FA is willing to come third just to make TC suffer 2v1.
While playing pubs sometimes I can see 1/2 players running eles

But can you do 3-5k criticals via aoes per second…for 60 seconds? From a safe distance (1200 range)? I don’t play ele so I don’t really know, but a friend of mine who does play Ele constantly complains about his lack of single-target dmg and general squishiness.
But anyways, damage is so, so situational. There’s aoe damage vs single-target damage. Melee damage vs ranged damage. Burst vs sustained damage. Saying “Rangers cannot even do 25% the damage another class can” is a very simple and misleading statement.
Unless you’re a politician, of course =P
So I assume they’ve never tried D/D bunker elementalist, or D/D in general, so I’ll avoid that. I also assume they’re probably staff elementalist and that comes down to if they’re good with accurate placement attacks which my guess is they’re not. 25% maybe low, but 50% is an easy statement to say if you’ve played an elementalist. I’ll say ranger is one of the direct counters to elementalist due to the poke damage, but it comes down to
1. Synergy with traits
2. Low dps+projectile speed
3. Pets easily avoidable by strafing.
None of these changes are going to do anything for the ranger. We will still be useless against anyone melleing us and we will still miss more than 50% of the time at long range, except now the enemy will have to do a little more than sneeze to avoid the arrow, it will take an entire side step.
1. Our pet will still be useless
2. Our dmg will still be subpar
3. we still cannot do anything to attack siege besides longbow 5
4. Longbow’s dmg is still going to be the worst dmg in the game
5. We still dont have any utility or any good traits.
6. If we want signets to be good, we still have to put 2-3 trait points into power so that signets don’t only affect our pets…….I am re-rolling to another class. I am tired of being the squishiest and lowest dmg class in the game with a pet that doesnt do anything and so many utility skills that i cannot use because they are absolutely worthless.

4. Long bow isn’t a high damage weapon and it should never be

It’s totally different, but rogue also gets 3s vanishes that act the same way as GW2 stealth except they have way more abilities like 4s stun, a long dot, burst damage, sap, etc.
Indefinite stealth to set up an attack, after that, 3s vanish is a lot better then perma stealth builds in gw2. Culling issues adds to it, no doubt. But you can DoT them OUT of invisbility, thief? no. It doesn’t even matter to them.

I disagree. I play both games and even the sorry pathetic state rogues are in right now they are still less balanced than the GW2 thief. But we should probably stop arguing off topic or we’ll both get infracted.
Back on topic, I just don’t see the point of having stealth in the game as is, I agree that thiefs should have some sort of stealth ability, but the amount of times they can stealth(with the culling issue) within a short period is over powered. I also believe the class in general is over powered even without stealth, but even removing stealth as its current state would make all the over powered statements dull down.
Code here is bang on. with a small difference, the buff goes to all friendly’s. while it does nothing it can affect everyone. but then when allies start causing the buff to proc thats where 5 targets who are actively attacking are receiving the buff. while they can overlap i have no complaints from my dungeon group for having almost perma +50% DPS with no downtime. i cant argue with that.

I’d feel extremely vulnerable in pve. It’d also remove our main support skills for dungeon parties.

Downed state/rally is what makes GW2 unique. If there wasn’t either of them I’d go back to WoW, I’m sorry but it’s the truth. If you do not like downed state/rally, you don’t truly like GW2.

Lol this. Who cares what the thief community thinks, they’re talking about buffs even when they’re overpowered. Even with invis, they’ll still have the rendering issue that ANet hasn’t solved to work with. So who actually does care.
At one point Ranger was the most close to balanced class, but while rangers got nerfs and nothing, the other classes got improvements and tweaks. Currently Rangers just need something to be good at, since every class has a uniqueness. APART from the ranger.

It’s been over a month since JonPeters posted here and he hasn’t come back since…Honestly don’t blame him for not wanting to post anything with the juvenile tantrums thrown and the huge amount of personal attacks levied against him.
Honestly… what else would you expect?
He should have thought twice before he lied to us…saying that they had ranger improvements on the previous patch but had to pull them in order to test them further and then saying it would be in the next patch, come next patch and the improvements he said where already done where no where to be seen giving us an answer that they where limited in time. So they have the time to patch and buff and test stuff for all other classes, but they don’t have time to just test what they had already done for us?
Don’t be a fanboy, you know he lied to us which is why we got pissed at him. Worse part is he comes on here saying that they acknowledge that ranger’s need the most love because we’re the worse off profession then come patch and we get the least amount of fixes and no buff’s while professions that are already overpowered, like warrior, get buffed up even more. That’s just adding salt to the injury!
To add onto the end of that, It got personal when the class that got the buff that we where hoping for, a long bow or even a short bow buff was the one class that is

@Cloud, Look I think biggest problem here is people are so hell bent with ranger rage sure we have our reasons, but when they see statement like “Hope it helps people understand a ranger better.” They turn this from a positive to a negative. E.g. Now its your first week as a ranger you have no real idea what your doing so ya come to ranger forums to find out builds, check out what’s going on, you see video you watch it and guess what “Hope it helps people understand a ranger better.” becomes a positive.
I enjoyed the WvW and wanted to share it, if it doesn’t help you that’s fine each to there own.
Put 1 GOOD ranger vs 1 GOOD warrior or actually any other class and you will see the difference in balances. I’m not saying the ranger is bad, I really like mine, but after making a thief, yeah, sorry but the ranger isn’t even remotely as good.
But gear plays a big part in WvW, so vsing low levels and putting them in a video shows pretty poor quality in a video.
I think people have a problem with “Hope it helps people understand a ranger better.” because you literally just proved rangers are pretty awful, if you where a thief or warrior those players would have got defeated a lot longer before.
I learnt nothing from your video and like most others, watching this video shows how under powered the ranger is as a class currently.
If your going to post videos, don’t include ANY fights against low level players, just level 80’s unless there is a large group your taking out. Otherwise your going to get flamed, fighting undergeared people is not an example of skill with a profession.
On a slightly different note, Rangers to me are free kills (I’m an Ele), I don’t know if it’s the profession being terrible or the ranger player base. Literally 95% of rangers I fight, backpeddle spamming 1 or just stand in the same spot trying to DPS me down, it’s honestly embarrassing.
I can honestly say that I have never, never been worried about a ranger I’m fighting, not once has a ranger troubled me or killed me in a 1v1,2v1,3v1. Their pets are an annoyance, that’s about it, it’s intriguing me that much, that I’m thinking about rolling one just to see if they are as bad as they seem, or it is indeed the players.

I agree that some sort of dungeon finder would help. And actually I don’t think the wow one was that bad, I couldn’t get in dungeons before that, being in a small guild. The same is pretty much true in GW2, I’ve not done any dungeons yet.
Problem with that is every dungeon finder group I had when playing WoW, the communication was minimal and it felt awkward, like we where all using eachother for our own means and that MAYBE the case regardless, but it was underlined in the dungeon finder system.

Fight Cute Lil Pookiebear on Stormbluff Isle. I never stealth and I defend the class because I understand that those who suggest we’re perma-stealthed have no understanding of the class itself. If a thief is perma-stealthing off of you he is hitting you with I believe Cloak and Dagger which refreshes his stealth.
You would know this if you put even an ounce into researching the class.
As a sword/pistol whip thief the guy who suggested we could perma stealth is just asinine. I think we have one stealth ability which is a utility skill I don’t use so excuse the lack of name, its the one with the house icon and small sphere radius. And that is not perm stealth.
You also forget that if a thief disengages you ALSO gain health or have access to your health skill.
I urge both sides to be reasonable. To research the classes and to form an understanding. I play a thief. I also play other classes, Betty Whites Monkey was out there earlier. Please, lets build on our community with understanding and knowledge and ease off accusations that buckle and bow before logic and truth.
If you’re going to respond to me at least get it right, I said 50% up time and that is correct. It is an over powered ‘ultility’ because even if you get dotted, you can still run around like it doesn’t even matter. Please choose a class who doesn’t wear heavy armor and vs a thief, then get the understanding AND knowledge what it is to face someone who you can rarely even see. High damage? Fine. High damage while you can rarely see him? No.
GW2 PvP without downed state would be absolutely awful, but that’s just proving downed state is good. Fighting a zerg with smaller numbers is difficult in itself and shouldn’t be changed in this way.
Those are even low kill shots, I’ve seen much higher damage on them xD!
