I particularly like the mesmer pull into null field
The guardian well placed WoF to save on warrior
That warrior is shot caller and direct damage dealer
The opposition used ranger spirit thoughtfully and didn’t just tow it all around the map
Engi used power play to near get rid of the warrior damage dealer

It had everything in some way that PvP should be about…and not a single node in sight. Just say’n.

This currently in warrior forums. It is not my vid, I don’t take credit for it. It just highlights if you read the description of what small 5 man groups can do in a team in open world with tactics. I seriously recommend this is what most Pvp players are wanting over conquest. Conquest is fine..but this in my opinion is really the next level Pvp should be aiming for in PvP.

Last fight against mob-o-kitten

2X hammer warriors knock them back>earthshaker
mesmer with chaos storm the time wrap with bountiful interrupt

However, as a player I think weapons should do what it is they say they’ll do. Line of warding means nothing when they just walk on straight on by by it. Sanctuary means nothing when dmg just penetrates straight through it.

I kinda agree. I like that mesmers have found a new build for themselves and so have necro’s, but in casual hotjoin matches which kinda predict where the newer comers are heading warrior is a thing of the past. In each 8 vs 8 I played mesmers featured by far and away the most and necro second. PU on the mesmer/ MM on the necro. The screen pollution is just far too much, not to mention all the rabbit finishers everywhere.

2. Any other warr that is not extremely glassy
3. Engi point assaulter
4. Engi point bunker
5. Spirit ranger

8. PU Mesmer
9. Bunker Guard

B Tier:

10. Shatter Mesmer

The first thing listed is healing signet, which shows not only are out of date, you actually have no clue as to what needs nerfing. No ever got healing signet to death. They have been;

Mesmer phantasm to death, which also benefits passive healing signet on them.
They have also been ranger spirit pet petting zoo to death, which also benefit their water spirit healing.
They have been engineer turreted to death, which also helps their passive healing. There is nothing active about pressing a button, so let’s not call this high skill.
They have necro minioned to death, which also provides them passive healing.

After all this, the one you elect to speak on is healing signet. The tamest, most understood, most straight forward passive skill in game.

It is nice to see a thread that hasn’t totally collapsed on itself.

Effectively, the poison/big burst argument is over stated. All professions can deal a base 5K damage over 11 seconds. This eliminates any benefit of healing signet. All professions can equip poison on swap sigils to provide windows where adrenal health/healing signet become diminished for small windows. The illusion that healing signet is tough to counter is because the warrior is not intending on being a sitting a duck. If you have ever encountered a brand new player to spvp who just try to go toe to toe with their warrior you soon see just how quickly healing signet is destroyed. It is the evasion/blocking/stance immunity and ability to dish out their own high damage that creates this illusionary notion that healing signet is O.P. However all these techniques are one trick ponies. Once that card has been played it cannot be played again quickly. This is why you’ll often see warrior’s high tail out of engagement/nodes if they have not manage to down you after blowing all stances and draining vigor. The simple reason for this is because they know, you know, we all know that 420-500ish regen ain’t gonna save them now. This relates directly back to the original statement, that any profession can do a base damage of 5K+ every 11 seconds concurrently. Healing signet is only one piece of the puzzle to the that 20ish second window we’ve all experienced against warriors of where they seem near impossible to budge and they throw caution to the wind and go full offensive on you. So what does one do? lower healing signet? Ok, cool..I will use berserker amulet w/ cleric inset and invest 30 into discipline and pick up passive balanced stance or spike armor. So again, you have reduced passive healing, but only encourage more passive traits to fill the gap that has been created. This is ultimately why I think changes to it now are myopic. The change is being asked for to appease unhappy players which is ultimately not good for anyone considering the nerf to longbow for stated reasons that didn’t stand up to scrutiny and resulted questions were left unanswered. The better way forward is to accept warrior are part of the game as much as passive AI damage is also part of the game. All one can do is figure what works best for them to out play it, rather than diminish it because this satisfies some part of the player ego that they are now good enough when they always had the tools, they just needed to use them which may have resulted in them having to step away from their preferred builds that are currently being render obsolete in a game where it does have an evolving meta.

Interesting idea’s. Skull crack did get extended cast and visibility. Longbow got nerfed. Hammer got nerfed, however numerous other professions instant/no animation skills still remain. It is biased to apply such nerfs to only one profession when all professions have this issue of lack of cue. Healing signet is not passive. It’s regeneration of health is passive, but the signet itself is not passive. There is numerous elites/traits that trigger on signet use and/or healing slot use. This effectively means with traits/runes even healing signet can be used in a thoughtful manner.

Rules are only rules when they apply to everyone. Currently passive warrior healing can’t kill you. Necro MM/mesmer phantasm/Spirit ranger pets all can kill you and are for the most part entirely passive and also provide passive healing. This highlights a lack of priority. To target healing signet over other various forms of mostly passive skills that can add to a players survival rate as well as benefit the chances of them maximising their damage to down targets shows there is bigger fish in the ocean that need to be addressed first. No one ever got healing signet to death..many have been minion/phantasm to death, both of which also support passive healing builds.

It is one thing to demand warrior require more skillful play, but this demand in the face of ranger pets not being touched because it may make them too complicated highlights that there is no desire to establish high skill ceiling. The ultimate skill ceiling is down to making the best of what you have and using it effectively to have your team win, not necessarily to win 1 vs 1 engagements. This is where a lot of these changes currently sit. They are aimed at the 1 vs 1 situations but don’t in any way stream line to make, “For the good of the team” situations better/versatile. Nerfs/buffs should be created around this idea of what would make for better ‘win’ situations rather than let’s tone down 1 vs 1 situations.

Fair suggestion for Healing Sig nerf

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

Make a build that can do 5k dmg over 11 seconds. That’s all you need to do. FYI..all professions can do this. The trick is now to hit the moving target, punch through any blocks w/ “cannot be blocked skills.” Berserkers wont block dmg..endure only lasts for 4 seconds (3 auto attacks.) I thought sometimes I see crazy play styles running dungeons/fractals..but i see more in PvP where people have this notion of making this or that that can generate these boons, avoid these attacks..but are entirely lacking in good old fashion, “I do dmg and stick on target.” You can’t heal someone to death. You can’t evade someone to death. You can’t boon someone to death. Dmg should be every PvP players main concern, followed by how they’re going to apply it and still live to fight the next person. If you not able to snare a target down and cut down the angles and do a sparse 5k dmg over 11 seconds..then I suggest you rework your build and accept you can’t tank everyone all day, but you can take down a few before you get dropped yourself.

News flash…No healing skill in game requires skill to use. You simply press it. I have never heard, or ever will hear in my life, “OMG-that was the most awesome, last second;perfectly timed, superior skill use, ultimo heal of all time…you totally owned me when you self healed then..props to you master heal button presser sensei.”" I have heard though..“lucky heal.”

If you have any experience as a monk in any MMo, then you know don’t waste heals/energy on people still over 60%. Don’t waste time/heals/energy on condition/hexes that aren’t disturbing the player too much. Always use the last heal on your team mate, not yourself..a healer can’t heal the enemy to death, it can only heal the dmg dealer..who then dmg’s the enemy to death. Healing is not some enigma of pure skill and timing. It is just a button, just like the other 9 in the skill bar. So what even if u do interrupt it on the off chance in gw2. It is not going to put it on full cool down, it is only going to temporarily disable. There is no hard reset on interrupts in this game. I stand by my original comment. If you can’t do a base dmg of 5k over 11 seconds, the issue is with you..not a passive heal. My guardian with no points in power or precision and cleric’s amulet for goodness sake can do 5k base dmg in 2 weapon skill uses. Every profession in game can do 5k base dmg over 10 seconds. The only thing that stops that from being enough to drop a healing sig warrior is that the warrior is moving, dodging, blocking and using short immunities..that means they ain’t gonna make it easy for you do straight out of the gate, but even these are one trick ponies. Once those cards are played and the vigor is gone, the immunities used..where are they now?..running, because they know their dead if they try to go toe to toe from here on. Why are they running?..because they have no active heal and 420ish every second ain’t gonna be enough to save them.

I like what you’ve done here. First you made an embarrassing build that can’t execute a base 5K damage over 11 seconds. You then came on to forums to let everyone know that you can’t do a base 5K over 11 seconds and embarrassed yourself further. Yet even though you haven’t figured out how to do a base damage of 5k over 11 seconds, you believe you’re qualified to balance others healing skills and have embarrassed yourself again citing interrupts that take .75 seconds to cast and/or have a flight time to stop healing skills that are all 90% set to .75 cast time..meaning you need a point blank reaction time of 0.12 seconds to interrupt said healing skills in a perfect situation, which is embarrassing to you again that you think this is even possible…hence in gw1 the skill lined called, “fast casting” which is where you found all the interrupt skills that took .25 seconds to cast in the first place, all of which are absent from gw2. You may as well just posted a video of someone doing a 32 point parallel park instead.

Everyone is DPS. There are no other roles in this game.

Or you can be a “staff guardian” and act like the in game equivalent of a flowerpot, useless, just standing in the corner of a room.

I might actually post “No-Guardians” on my lfg.. at this point I’d rather have condition necromancers..

You really don’t know what a guardian can do then. It is unfortunate for you that you’ve been paired with guardians that want to see big numbers rather excel at what they do best.

When i play guardian things I can personally guarantee;
No one will ever get one shotted by crusher
No one will ever fall during uncategorized fractal
No one will ever get poison blossomed to death/knocked down/dumped on in twilight.
No grawl will get through on fire shaman
no one will ever have more than 2 conditions for 10 seconds
stacking will work 90% of the time
everyone will have 12 stack of might/10 vulnerability when you need dps
bosses will be blind on their major attack

These are just what comes to mind. A good guardian won’t do much damage, but that is not their purpose. A good guardian can pretty much ensure no one ever dies unnecessarily. To list lfg-no guardians- is the most asinine thing to say. No other profession can bring this much to the table in one build with adjusting traits according to the environment.

I have not taken the time to read the entirety of this thread, so pardon me if I am repeating info.

I have personally seen and can verify ascended weapon drops in fractal lvl 19.
I crafted armorsmith from 400-500 for 88 gold with placed orders and being patient.

So your statement that ascended weapons can ONLY be obtained through crafting is false.

That crafting to 500 costs 200g is false.

Just saying.

I will also add I have played through all dungeons and fractals to lvl 20 where i didn’t want to invest in more AR. I have done this with a mixture of exotic/rare gear on my alt toon. You do not need ascended gear to win. In spvp ascended gear isn’t avialable, so it matters not. In WvW an ascended geared player vs an exotic geared player carries a 0.5% advantage. Ascneded gear is mostly for people who run fractals, and don’t want to have gear that is either frasctal suitable, but now not optimized for PvE and vice versa. You can equip AR and upgrade slots with ascended.

Macro reports

Macro’s often require the game to support them or at least optimize them. Gw2 issued a steel series keyboard boosting, “36 macro’s.” When i questioned this and asked if they meant hotkeys, the thread received no response. Generally speaking macro’s in a game of this nature(where pre and after cast times exist) aren’t easy to execute and can be detrimental towards play style if a macro fires off all skills, but completely misses. The ultimate truth is that the PvP community in any game generally has an ugly element when it comes to anything leaderboarded. If your good and beat people above your rank they will tend (not always.) Get angry with you because you have reminded them they are not god. However, even if it is clear your not using macro’s then get ready for, “Lag/your build is OP/my cat walked across the keyboard/obscenity in general.”

Don’t believe what anyone says, A-net generally is pretty fair about leaving legit players alone if they believe everything is aboard. If you’re above board then things will be fine.

Passive play wins.

in PvP

Posted by: CntrlAltDefeat.1465

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

This guy must have lost a lot of matches against necro and ranger users XD

Yes, passive skills can be a good chance to play whit only 6/7 button to push, but if you’re not a good player you can be a ranger or a necro, but the enemy kill you quickly.

There’s active and passive skills and builds, for every class.

Ranger spirit, Necro MM, Mesmer phantasm, Engi turret, Warrior banner, Thief signet/venom, Guardian Spirit Weapon, Ele signet+summon.

Every class has a build whit passive skills, but not all that builds work well in spvp, that’s right.

But the best necro isn’t the necro MM, the best ranger isn’t the spirit ranger, the best warrior isn’t the bunker.

Spirit Ranger and Necro MM can be defeated easy if you use AoE skills.

Minions hp si very low. If you destroy a ranger spirits you destroy all it’s strategy. The same for the necro.

Against a necro kill first the minion of the healing skill and then the elite minion, then kill the necro easy.

And a passive skill user is limited to weapon skills only. if you find the way to make he in danger he can’t do anithing to save himself because the lack of skills.

If you fight an active skills user, he can fight you in different situations and save himself if he’s in danger because of the variety of skills he can active.

Passive skills can be the great weakness of a build.

Sorry bro, but you really don’t know what your talking about at all.
With the intro of new healing skills you can, and I have thrown 5 evis that hit for 5K+ on a spirit ranger and had him bounce back from all of them. The hound knocking you down, the wolf fearing, sun spirit burst blinding you..and the alt variations for necro with golem rush, poison and minion detonation, mesmer clone destruction catch 22 where it does matter if you or the mesmer shatters it.. they are far from only being able to use weapon skills only. The AoE skills you speak of are either limited in number of targets, or have received heavy nerfs last patch. People really love to hate on healing signet because it is passive..how bout 7 pets that are all passive until you want to actually activate a skill on them that is over and above their norm passive play. The only counter is that they have pathing issues, but make for it by moving at half the speed of light squared.

The O.P has the right of it. Any PvP environment that purposefully created so much minion/catch 22 play is really not deserved of being called PvP. Player vs Player+ton-o-minion AI is what it should be called. Try taking a underwater node with a spirit ranger and MM on it..I hope you bought 70% of your team with you.

Arguments in favor of healing signet?

in Warrior

Posted by: CntrlAltDefeat.1465

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

@ArtemisEntreri

That’s exactly the problem. With adrenal health, I can reach 700+ hps easily, and use some blocks or escapes to capitalize on that.

Sure it’s fun to play, at start, when you kill pepole. But as I realized some professions simply can’t dish out as much damage to pass my regen, the 1vs1 fights don’t seem fair to me anymore.

I’m not asking to nerf the warrior without other solutions, but this one is too easy to build / achieve, I think. Some regen on skill activation, for example, would be better than this.

Healing signet (30 discipline) with full healing/dwayna gear = 420 per tick.
adrenal healing doesn’t scale w/ healing power at all.

Therefore your claim you can easily achieve 700+ would assume your using healing signet at 30 discipline w/ full cleric/dwayna runes and never use adrenaline at all..which still leaves you short of 700+..so attach healing power +10 on kill and assume your running at 25 stacks..and you say you felt it was op?..you’re just a mound of healing jelly with stubby little legs and arms and weapons that should be replaced with ping pong paddles for the dmg your doing. Which by the way is 120 per auto attack and 230 on crit which you’ll achieve about 3% of the time. You say that is OP?..it is not OP,..it is just a really unclever. Just say’n.

Yes. Hammer is near worthless. Before the politically motivated nerf to hammer because of the hate it was receiving in spvp, hammer was ok at best, clunky at worst..it is now near worthless unless your getting swamped and other people can do the damage. Put it beside spirit sword/hammer weapons and mesmer scepter on the PvE shelf of skills that never get used.

Maybe try talking about nerfs that the reasoning behind it didn’t stand up to scrutiny. 4 vs 5. player vs player+ton-o-minion AI. Bugged skills that didn’t get resolved until a year after release. The statement about reducing particle and particle has actually increased with finishers introduced.

Maybe discuss thoughtfully actual issues like C.D.I getting posted but no actual response about what we’re going to see. The really low population numbers to Pvp and why it isn’t grabbing people and making them stay…try discussing anything but a stale, over worked and now cliched thread about a passive heal.

So, in order for this build to exist they’d need;

perma stability-dolyak signet, blanced stance, lyssa runesx6
constant condi clear-cleansing ire, shake it off, soldier runes w/ a shout, warhorn traited
health pool..they’re running necro healthpool w/ deathshroud or valkyrie runes+amulet
healing sig..they’re running clerics

so you’re referring to the 30-30-30-30-60 berserker cleric omni swiss army knife greatsword 9 utility slot double elite warrior…yeah, they are hard to beat.

seriously, all warrior’s run almost mirror builds..it is only the weapon that changes..never play the warrior, play the weapon their using. There goes a very helpful tip for you. You’re trying to beat the person when you should be aiming to counter their weapon as much as u can. A warrior doesn’t kill you..the weapon their holding does.

No matter how you spec axe, whether;
30-0-20-0-20
0-20-20-0-30
20-20-0-0-30

If still has a massive latitude on the damage it does. You may hit a standard D/D ele for 910 if they had a armor up..you may hit 7,200..back end delivering of damage so the third strike scales higher makes this weapon unreliable with its damage. This why you don’t see a lot of axe and warrior’s are still running hammer/duel swords condi..simply because greatsword/axe are unreliable with striking, and when they do connect they don’t produce consistent results no matter how you spec them. This is part of of the reason why there is such dislike towrds current duel swords/ and the hammer. Every warrior you see is running them because axe/greatsword just don’t produce the same consistency.

What happens when you wake from a long night of sleeping and farting to log in and discover that a ranger greatsword has passive evades on auto, a big hit, a long range throw, a block and gap closer and your great sword has a 3 second self root, a gap closer that is very fickle with over shooting, a whirl attack that fires you off, through and away from your enemy and has no blocks? The solution..you take that rangers longbow and use it better than they do. You then give thief their shortbow where they can trick shot, AoE, AoE detonate, evade and teleport. Ranger should have never stolen the all round better weapon skill set on greatsword and warrior would not have stolen the better longbow weapon set.

Let’s not take away from their moment with the terms used. Congrats A-net. A nice recognition to receive before the holiday period. I, like 10 ten don’t care if your better or not, you are my preferred.

I play all classes you said (warrior, mesmer and thief) and i see the mesmer with more issues with balancing than warrior in what you call risk vs reward.

really? hows that
please explain it a little bit

With mesmer you can fight without fight, do you know what i mean? (Phantasms, clones) Blurred frenzy (no risk/high reward every 10/12 seconds) are just examples

yeah, that works if you’re using a phantasm spec (which sucks) and playing against idiots. if you played mesmer like you say you do, you’d know most mesmers play shatter and that the phantasms are maybe 1/3 of the damage.

I have to agree here…you are talking about zerker phantasm which is just not viable in tournys atm and with shatter you let your phantasms attack once before shattering

“just not viable in touneys at the moment.” That is an imperative statement. All things are viable when presented the right opportunities. The problem is that mesmer does not have many varied builds, so once you have played them enough you can fairly accurately predict some of their movements. Earlier in the thread you have stated that “…if a good..” That is the reward/risk right there on the warrior. They took the risk to predict your next move and quickly countered it because, “They were good.” The reward is they have shrugged off your damage. If that prediction had been wrong their goes their cool down blown.

If anything, all your thread has really achieved is that warrior is not the problem, but that other professions have not been given as wide variety of tools. There is 3 scholar professions, 3 scout and only 2 heavy. One heavy represents powerful defense and tanking, the other powerful offensive and abilities to stick on target. Being that there is only 2, they each need to embody a lil’ more because their is no 3rd variation that people are wanting to see of one that has ok defense and ok dmg output with good play style. It is easy to say, ‘tone warrior down’ when warrior is currently in the best place it has been since beta. This to me kinda says there is an illusion because something good has happened to warrior, it has taken away from everything else which is untrue. The warrior took nothing away from anyone else. Ultimately what can one say?..that a squishy can’t easily out do a heavy? is that not the natural order of things anyway? if they could do it easily then what is the point of armor and professions to begin with? The greater issue now is that mesmer is not ideally placed to 1 vs 1 a heavy, then it must be more support and target focused skills like gw1..which mesmer in gw2 is nothing like the gw1 ancestor. It seems anet has put some eggs in the support basket for mesmer and needs to continue with this is they are intent on not releasing new builds for them and not giving them the tools to effectively and easily deal with a heavy armor power house in the current Pvp model of node capture. However in different models this could change.

If anything, be happy for warrior and instead make arguments/debate about what would be best for mesmer and their issues of AI damage/instant skills etc and how risk/reward should be introduced to them and viability for different situations and how different Pvp models would benefit them.

i dont want any other class to be buffed
the damage in this game is already way over the top ..anet has to start nerfing

That is cool.,but I didn’t say Buff or power increase. I said, “give them the tools.” and in future content where new game modes may/may not be added..bear in mind different Pvp models could be more beneficial to those you play support roles beyond standing on center and niche area’s can be created for professions like mesmer/thief where their base skills tend to favour them in those situations. I feel currently that a lot of discussion on warrior has become redundant. Warrior in any game will be a popular class and that alone will bring sheer numbers to it’s representation. Do they have good skills?..undoubtedly. Can those skills be used in an untimely manner so they have little effect?..absolutely. Are they basically a win button?..by no means. So where do we go from here? Their skills are situational, they aren’t automatic win and they can be played ineffectively. That pretty much underlines that they are not in god mode as people suggest. Like many ppl, I feel the core balance of this game should come from skill changes, dmg nerf’s etc..but from reassignment of traits and untangling of trait tree’s.

I would just like to see that reflect skills target the player, not the AI. It would be helpful if the iduelist dmg hit the mesmer and not the phantasm etc etc..minion dmg hit the necro and not the tiny scuttle bugs running around their feet.

runes of the traveler x6=25% movement speed. +10 to all stats +2% crit dmg condition duration increase boon duration increase. These runes have fairly good suitability for all professions that want speed boost.

Don’t duel off nodes
.
be purposeful. Always be doing something that is benefiting your team.

don’t hound chase low health players all over the map. It usually doesn’t end up well for you.

be purposeful with your attacks. Spamming all things at all times usually won’t end well for you.

Warrior Longbow

Longbow is pretty far from OP, its the same as when warrior was practically unplayable.

What I believe would need a fix and NOT a nerf is the healing signet, they should make this skill smarter, and not an automatic healing.

I jumped from warrior to Elementalist and… lemme tell you that drop was big enough to break legs. But the elementalists can fight warriors rather well if they are not using that signet which is unforgivably tolerant to bad players. Theres not a single noob-friendly ability in this game that is this OP, it allows bad players to shred appart amazing players.

Longbow has always had the potential to be OP, in the past war did not have the sustain to gain the best from it and also combustive shot was on a 20 secs CD ( for a reason).

They already nerfed the adrenaline skill in the longbow in this last patch.

The issue is not simple pure damage.

Radius and duration. 90% uptime of a 1k dps covering MORE than a WHOLE POINT by doing NOTHING aside pressing a button is not balanced.

so what your saying really is A-net decision to make phase 1 and 2 smaller and phase 3 have more impact with more burning is the problem. You are blaming warrior for a decision 90% of warrior’s didn’t wanna see happen and that the game developers and owners made despite much feedback stating players didn’t think this was a good idea. Maybe take your issue to the source who created it and not the players who didn’t wanna see it happen. You can’t blame the players when the rules got changed in a way that most of them didn’t wanna see happen in the first place.

It is not selfish to play how you want. It is only selfish when you want others to play as you want and to use skills that you think, “My idea for it is better.” This is what your saying. “They should nerf [these] skill(s) so it makes them (warrior’s)…”

What did people do in GW1 once they reached max level?

PvP content.

Random arena’s
Team arena’s
Hero arena’s
Faction battles
Faction battle’s apecific maps.
GvG
Hall of hero’s
Hero’s ascend
Costume brawl

A lot these were eventually deleted because balancing to every aspect was becoming problematic. However despite this though there was years and years of varying different Pvp a player could involve themselves in.

Thank you Anet for ZERO response

Their bat, their ball..their game. What can you do? It only mildy affects PvE..as for PvP, well it’s a quasi nerf-repurposing.
