Double Gold Rewards for PVP

in PvP

Posted by: CntrlAltDefeat.1465

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

Yes, it is vastly inferior because you don’t need to purchase weapons, sigils, runes, trinkets in PvP. You don’t need to WP gold sink, you don’t need to repair armour, you don’t need to pay to reset traits, you don’t need to pay for consumables.

So, with all that it mind, it should be inferior, heavily inferior, because it costs you nothing. If there was a price adding up for every map swap ,repairing armor after every match; every trait reset, every amulet swap in PvP and there is an assigned cost to it, then sure make the income greater.

Your asking for a business to have greater income when they were given all assets/resources for free. Anything you make in PvP comes having to put $0 dollars down to start off with. You don’t even need to lvl to 80 first and the costs incurred in that.

Currently in PvP you can earn something from nothing where the only resource used is your time invested.

Healing Signet Idea

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

Healing signet is fine as it is now for passive. If u want to improve active i suggest to take a look at mesmer signet, and make our active reset signet cd’s.

I thank you for your opinion but I ask why do you think it’s fine? It works, sure, but we don’t need something that you NEVER use. You put Healing Signet down and forget about it. Mesmers are not the topic of this thread so I ask you to refrain from mentioning them. I would like to see more dynamic gameplay and Healing Signet does not cut it.

“Something you never use.”
I use it for +40 precision per inactivated signet.
To focus entirely in pvp on remaining in melee range and avoiding animations that are delivered point blank.
To not have my rotations broken by using a self heal that resets or fails to work if I suddenly have to dodge at the last minute.

If warriors all carried a ranged swap set I could understand. However some of us are pure melee..we get close..we stay close and we prefer to not use greatsword/hammer in pvp.

Having to maintain near 180 range constantly, avoid heavy attacks where you have no flight time to give you breathing room and playing a tight style is more than enough challenge without having any use of ranged and doing it all while standing on a node so it doesn’t get entirely neutralised or captured.

Try playing that and i doubt you’ll be saying to yourself, “What this really lacks is me being able to take the time to use a 0.5 second heal that stops me dead in my tracks.”

In PvP/agony pounding fractals and dungeon bosses like lupi, healing signet is what allows pure melee warriors to do what they do best. They can’t use a big heal, and bad timing/evading will quickly leave you dead with healing signet alone..but if you practice and time and play reactionary then healing signet absolutely fills the spot perfectly. It keeps you alive in close provided you avoid the big hits, but doesn’t give you a big heal if you fail and need one.

If you use melee/range evenly..then healing signet is easily out done by better heals that can be traited.

Just say’n.

I just wanted to say that heal is like what? 1.6k heal + absorb over 3 seconds? 30 sec cd or so? (Can’t remember off top). But regardless.

In 30 seconds healing signet can heal for 12k over 30 seconds. You’d have to do 11k damage/healing within the 3 second window in order for it to be better than healing signet. And if you did 11k to a warrior in this stance…. You must have been trying. o.O

Your info is wrong on healng signet. Watch it carefully when it has no adrenaline. There is a large window healing signet does not tick directly after combat. This is the biggest mistruth i see. Ppl assume healing signet works every second regardless, it doesn’t. Place it in the broken skill list.

Mark my word on this and test. Look at your health after combat and it still stay exactly the same for 17-20ish seconds until regen begins and then it kicks back in.

A buff should give a player reason to take a skill previously unused in their kitten nal. A nerf should make it so a go to skill now has competition for it’s spot.

When a buffed skill causes all players to take because it is too good not to, and nerf leads to skill never being used again..that’s when the buuf/nerf have gone too far.

If i am not wrong, in 4 moths from now you’ll see warrior mace sitting beside mesmer torch and guardian spirit weapons on the discount reduced to clear shelf of wallmart.

After spirit weapon weapon nerf they have never been seen again, and if they do get seen once every 6 months people actually put a ? in chat panel.

Mace is now heading down this path. There is a difference between counter play and just making it easier. It doesn’t help when a lot of thought went into longbow nerf and all the evidence to support the reduction has been habitually proven by players to be non correct. Despite the multiple static’s cited their has been no response given.

There is no doubt an impressive amount of creativity and technical savvy has been employed by the makers/supporters of gw2, and every person gets burn out eventually with a project this size. The nerfs/changes have not really affected hammer and caused players to not “go to it”, the longbow change is esoterically sound, but based off of info that is isn’t really standing up to scrutiny and the core problem with mace was on Asuran forms and mass particle where it’s already suitable animation was getting lost.

Ultimately none of the changes affected the builds I used when i pvp’ed..but i can see how some players are left scratching their head.

The change to mace has created counter play on perhaps the most entry level, but as players advance it has made mace ugly to use in a pvp environment where the pace is already fairly fast for it’s genre.

No content in this game requires ascended anything. I happily play all dungeons/WvW/fractals with no ascended gear whatsoever. You’re making it sound like even fractal 40+ can’t be done without ascended. Multiple players have been doing fractal 50+ with exotic armour before any changes. It is just there for a goal and a prestige look, but is far from required.

I think it would only be fair to not allow pve’ers to bring legendaries into pvp until we have a viable method of obtaining one in pvp ourselves.

How bout you already have a viable method of creating one..it’s called PvE. Heaven forbid you have to go through the same process as every other player to get one.

PvP in gw2 can in no way replicate the things a player has to do to craft one in PvE. This is reason enough that the PvP community are deserved on their own ‘ultimo’ PvP weapon(s)..something that says…“That mofo busted their nut in PvP to get that…and the that other mofo..they busted their PvE nut to get what they did.” The sheer elements of time gating, extraordinary RnG, the horrific grind of 2000 T5 rare materials, the crafting to 400,..the massive gold hoarding, the huge karma investment after it got so heavily nerfed just can’t be replicated in PvP which is starved for content. PvP needs it own status weapons.

Again with the glorification of the damage. Seriously if everything in this game was about damage half the builds would be rejected from the moment youd get into the fractals. It aint the case. Behing the last man standing also holds some meaning when it comes to party survival because the ’’tanky’’ guy will always be the one to revive the glass cannons who constantly dies of aoe they wont dodge in time.

i can assure you that going full dps its kind of unlikely youl be that ‘’last standing’’ guy and that its kind of unlikely a thief with refuge will save your party should i get close to wiping mainly because you wont pick one.

I’ve seen plenty of times when a full zerker just soloed the boss after a near wipe…(especially lupicus)

Seen a guardian also solo lupi. Lupi is a different creature, he is more about knowing the attack patterns than just being a D.P.S race. A better example is Queens Jubilee on final arena boss where full zerker warrior can down her in 20 seconds before any sustained serious damage is now AoE’ing all over the place.

Fantastsic idea. It may cause a tonne-o-glory to be given away, but there was always a price to pay when you made them one of the few rewards a player got 99% of the time in spvp. If the rewards had been far more varied the 10 million+ glory boosters wouldn’t have become an issue. The only other way this could go is that every player that has 250 of them just loses them and your rewards that were stored are gone,..thanks for playing.

Earlier this year we received specific information that PvP legendaries would be expected to be released in 2013. Since then we have heard absolutely nothing about it. It was the MOST discussed reward topic in the forum the pas 6 months and it sounds like they just chose to ignore the topic altogether.

While I know the topic is highly debated even among the pvpers I think the LAST thing we want is for PvE players to bring their legendaries in PvP when we can’t even do that ourselves.

I realize the full new future reward system has yet to be released but they didn’t even breathe a word about PvP legendaries in the live stream and they DID tell us that they plan on letting PvE players wear their outfits/setup in PvP and vice versa. Basically that sounds like “PvE players get to rub legendaries in your faces and we are still undecided on whether or not we will give PvPrs a realistic way of obtaining one.”

That’s just my impression. What do you guys think?

Legendaries aside I loooooved the live stream!!! Lots changing and a ton to look forward to!

Not heard nothing. If you read the forums like a newspaper this was addressed. Of all the changes (None of them happened anyway.) It was stated all work on kegendary weaps from crafting precursor’s etc etc was on hold and not going to make the cut.

Look at the spvp forums. They’re fairly toxic. There is saying, “If you sit in a barber shop long enough, you’ll get a hair cut.” There is some unhealthy elements that come with PvP from the competition of it. The sense of us vs them is missing in my opinion because your team is divided across three different nodes. It also has to be mentioned that many of the senior players have a poor attitude towards newer players. You can see this also in the forums, “I don’t want them in my team.” It won’t take long before new players coming to PvP realise their preferred builds they have come to know well in PvE just won’t work in PvP and that a large segment of the community move from flavor of the month optimised builds to whatever the latest is. This tends to cause discontent and players seek to have these builds nerfed. The cherry on top is when development staff release nerfs for reasons and facts that when tested don’t hold up at all. The latest is the nerf to warrior longbow and how much adrenaline it can produce. When tested by players the longbow produces no adrenaline at all at stage 3..so why is it being nerfed again?..because players have simply decided they hate playing against and that’s all. The developers try to keep some communication and encourage people to give solid feedback..and in the case of the longbow incident, people have given this feedback and it has gone unanswered, yet if you QQ too much about it all being a pointless nerf, you’re given an infraction. Over time numerous players with good knowledge of gaming have highlight what is good and what is bad and most have been infracted to the point they can no longer post, despite players supporting what they’ve said. This year alone many high rank players who posted great build suggestions etc have just disappeared and the climax of the PaX tournament only really produced the term ,“Petting zoo.” to give a general handle to the loads of AI controlled builds currently running.

I do believe the staff have the best intentions for PvP, but their division of the work place resource is greatly smaller than PvE and gemstore and they constantly have more work than time which shows when nerfs get released on a build that was popular and dominating 2 months ago and already the moving masses have moved on.

Certainly a good cure is the ol’ bums on seats when it comes to PvP. The larger the player base the better. A lot of the under the hood mechanics would work better with larger numbers (Like how tournaments are matched up) But I do worry if newer players can handle the toxicity the pvp community generates at times. The latest hate is all bout wanting gold and this and that and how their PvP should be rewarded the same as players who run fractals/dungeons/living story..yet they don’t want to involve themselves in that diversity, they just wanna sit in PvP and have everything bought to them.

Single tpvp match= 15minutes;

In teams I have been in and also on youtube as proof;
CoF p1=9mins
Arah p3=16 minutes
TA UP= 17 min
HoTW p1=21 min
Full queensdale champ run=6 min

All of these dungeons produce minimum 1G/tokens and champ run produces chance of loot drops. The dungeon rewards provide armor at no cost and can be used to obtain weapons for mystic RnG precursor chance.

If you can’t be bothered to leave PvP for 10-20 minutes per day and earn gold currency quickly, that is no ones fault but your decision to not do so. I have seen people state they’ve played 2900 hours of pvp. If they reduce that number to 2000 hours they’d be rank 58 instead of 66 and have 900 gold/tokens/weapons. If they want gold, they didn’t balance their time right. Next they’ll want fractal relics/obsid shards/karma. It comes down to player desire. If you desire having a high rank, then dedicate your time to that. If you would like some/little gold..then dedicate some/little time to those ends. No one made anyone persist at PvP..it was the players choice to do so. Now they seem angry that they did and now want retroactive rewards and rewards on par with what people have that did balance their time to work on all game aspects.

I say this from being;
Fractal lvl 17
WvW veteran
avenger
80ish % of my way through legendary
80%+ magic find from 1600+ salvages
gold hoarder title circa 1900 gold
3 more dungeon paths until dungeon master.
world explorer.

These titles are no where near as high as some people, but that is because I divided my time and didn’t kitten myself by playing only one aspect only so I never got any rewards from any other aspect of the game. Currency has been introduced which is overall good for the game and all it’s players. It means people like myself who try to play all aspects still keep moving towards goals no matter the path, but a lot of ppl seem angry that if they stick to only one aspect they don’t get rewarded as diversely as players who mix it up.

If you want better/best rewards..make that your goal and stop flogging the pvp horse to death that your not getting a percursor and you feel you deserve one and that you should be as rich as every other above average time invested player.

As the old saying goes, “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’re always going to get what you’ve always had.”

However if I am not mistaken, 15-17% of box sales where in NA/EU..the other circa 80% don’t play in those times zones. It is the wait times at offpeak times that makes tpvp/soloQ unattractive to south pacific players. In short, the rich get richer..the poor get poorer kinda thing. Everything stated by the OP is true. However the reference, “…We don’t mind…” Is being inferred that a-net is supportive of these aspects, when to say, “…don’t mind…” actually infers indifference/ambivalence.

I am in the camp that hammer needed toning down in PvP, but hammer is decidedly weak and lacking it’s teeth in higher lvl PvE. The changes in my opinion are myopic. They appease people in the short run, but ultimately will need changing again. The longer term solution was skill splitting in PvP.

unsuspecting foe dropped from 50% to 25%. This gives cause and effect for warriors to want to have access to fury.

Merciless hammer description changed from “20% additional damage to disabled” to “stunned.”

Eathshaker AoE field reduced in size.

This would suitably make hammer more rewarding and powerful to players who effectively use boons and can target on the fly and leave PvE untouched.

As for longbow nerfs, well a number of players have already torn the reasoning behind the nerf to shreds. The argument about adrenaline and so forth has all been disproved. The opening statement to the nerf was, “We’ve looked long and hard…” and upon player testing has shown all the stated fact are 90% untrue.

As for the statement, “If you want damage play greatsword/axe” With changes to burst mastery these same stated nerfs also nerf the go to builds for axe/greatsword.

The moving of unsuspect foe from adept to master is in my opinion low hanging fruit.

I agree hammer needed adjusting. I support a-net making adjustments when something is proving itself to be overwhelming..I just don’t see eye to eye on the changes made for the long haul, which bring this back to the original statement, “Politically orientated” nerfs.

A-net has been kind enough to state the code of behaviour required by posters in order for them to objectively evaluate posts on forums. It is well known any posts that are too malicious will receive infractions, yet legit posts that are factual, logical and deserving of response go untouched and pics of twerking kraits get commented on.

This could be viewed as selective and/or cherry picking as opposed to engaging in the era of C.D.I communications which seems to be heavily promoted at the moment.

Is is great they have provided a forum, this is beyond doubt, but providing a forum is not the same as providing logic. When logic is being submitted to forums and it is not at very least being taken under advisement,..well what is the point of the forum to begin with?

Warriors obviously needed more invincibility skills! 8+ seconds of total immunity wasn’t enough.

To think they nerfed mist form to not even allow heals while mist form doesn’t even let you attack…..it’s nauseating.

8+ seconds of condition immunity on conditions where the duration’s weren’t longer than the 8 seconds. All other damage is still received.

Not exactly total immunity. Lets call it a face roll to ppl who spam conditions despite seeing the word “Immune” in big bold letters on their screen. Kinda like the ppl who spam attacks even though it is saying, “Out of range” in big bold letters on their screen.

From what I understand, with the ladder system, someone like me who likes to play sPvP every now and then will end up having nothing to show for it. Only the players who stick to sPvP throughout the seasons will be rewarded, and only for that season at that… This whole thing sounds horrible.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this ends up pushing people like me out of sPvP all together rather than pulling them in each season as Anet is hoping for.

I like to knit every now and then. With how much the seasons change I fear that only knitting casually will never get me a woolly winter jumper made in time. This makes me not want to knit any more and has pushed me away from a community I was already only vaguely connected to and took only a passing interest in.

That is basically what you just said. You are asking to get some sort of reward from pvp when you only have a passing and casual interest in it. Rewards in life go to those who are dedicated, preserver and progressively want to get better and work at it. Nobody has ever been rewarded anything for having a casual and passing interest in something. Sorry bud..but this is just a harsh reality of life..if you pander to rewarding every tiny little thing a person does, you never get anything done.

lol what, no. Some people don’t have the time to play with a team due work or school. People should be rewarded the same for winning a match, regardless if it’s solo or in a team.

So people who organize and go against harder teams should be rewarded the same as people who aren’t organized and go against easier teams?

This assumption is being made that the current MMR does in fact place higher (Harder) teams vs Higher (harder teams) Unfortunately this is not the case and we all know it. So please get off the soap box that tpvp is an elite form of the game. You are as likely to face a team under rank 10 as you are to face one all rank 50+ using VoIP. I have seen enough PuG teams formed just in the waiting area of the mists to know that there is more than a few less than “higher” ranked teams that you’ll square off against. All it takes is one loss in a 4 vs 5 match and your rating plummets and every 2 months it seems to be the trend to reset it. Maybe look again at this when a team of average rank 40 does get placed against another team of the exact same ranking/rating..until then it is nothing more than a 50% give away.

Earthshaker ... 35% nerf

Yes. Staggering blow/earth shaker are being hit heavily. The reason stated was, “We don’t mind warrior doing big damage. We don’t mind them doing massive Cc..we just don’t want them to do both easily.”

The irony being all major lvl bosses are defiant/unshakable. Hell, theire is even add’s in HoTW that aren’t bosses and they are immune to CC…so basically against any type of over size or boss target in PvE..you’ve been nerfed hard. Be glad you never invested in the juggernaut on warrior..cause it is soon to become a near obsolete weapon in dungeons/fractals.

A lot of the hate towards hammer came from WvW and PvP. WvW is a fair source to get feedback from. PvP has a population of o.5%..so not exactly a large crowd of people to base a nerf off..especially one that is not a mere shave.

I agree, one of the biggest problem anet did not do was keep PvE totally separate from WvW/sPVP.

Yup. I am not sure how they would have kept them separate entities, yet the made the whole game feel tightly knitted together..but nerfs are universal at this point (with some exceptions) So things that work well in wvw and pvp still cause havoc in PvE.

Rebember if u want dps options use oh crappy axe and a joke gs

That’s a pretty negative attitude… though I can’t say it’s entirely unwarranted either.

I’m frankly bewildered at their lack of understanding, regarding their own game mechanics (not just combustive shot/adrenaline either, that’s drop in the bucket) and lack of any kind of response to the many, many posts and statements about the Dec 10th change.

I’m hoping they’re simply busy trying to make it work out properly. Not that combustive shot even NEEDS any nerf or changing to begin with, but if it has to be done, do it properly.

I guess we’ll find out in 8 days. I sincerely hope you’re wrong Scoob.

Don’t be bewildered. There is one team for PvE. One team for PvP. One team for skill balancing. They are not the same team. Make sense now?..the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. This has already also been posted in spvp forums that it gains no adrenaline unless furious is used with high crit chance.

Healing sig is fine. Too many QQ about it and funnily enough they are the same ppl who attack at 1200 unit unit range and cause conditions with every other auto attack..they don’t have the burden of staying in tight and constant melee range w/ heavy evades, blocks and stealth. This is why higher lvl players still use it, not cuz it is easy..but because it becomes one less thing to focus on as you’re trying to stay in viable range, watch animations from point blank distance and gap close constantly.

also..shield reflect rangers hunters shot or mesmer scepter..you’ll get clones and stealth on yourself..it is not as fun as it sounds.

Earthshaker ... 35% nerf

in Warrior

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

Played guradian/warrior heavies heaps..but i still have a full exotic P.V.T w/ berserker trinkets thief just gathering dust.

Looking for solid fractal build.

Willing to compromise on high spike damage in favor of consistent good damage and ability to survive more than one shot. I am comfortable with boss animations and how to evade.

Have all good quality weapons, so recommends can be sword/dagger/pistol/shortbow..I am not fussy on sticking to specific weapons just for the sake of it.

Thanks in advance.

Nicely objective, but 100% immunity is needed at this point.

5 of the 8 professions work largely at range and only 3 mostly work off physical damage. Range is defensive. If they can’t hit you, they can’t hurt you. In the case of range vs melee creating space is defensive. In the case of range vs range no defense or offense is gained so therefore neutral. In the case of long range vs short range advantage goes to longer range.

The amount of auto attacks that naturally cause conditions is heavy. Unlike gw1 where hits from behind or the side or bow preparations/ slotted skills did conditions. This means as long as you have some range you can invest solely in condition damage and spend your remaining points in defense. This leads to conditions+defense+defense+defense > melee+power+crit damage+defense.

Much the same as blocks/evade/protection/immunity all negate physical damage there is no series or combo that can be used to negate conditions apart from cleansing..even then they’re applied gain from casual auto attacking.

Without immunity this leads to a situation where power builds needs to focus on constant cleansing and gap closing. That means they have to invest heavily into defense..which as stated above..if they have range and it is longer than yours, your already at the disadvantage.

By lowering healing signetthe natural regen is what allows warriors to engage necro/engineer at close quarters and create breathing space for shortbow rangers and earth ele’s. All of these professions can tank remarkably adequately, if not fantastically for their lack of heavy armor. They benefit from opponents being closer than distant. This leads to that the one heavy based melee profession in game now is on the back foot and creates a feeling of -“screw it” -I’m using longbow/rifle..and that leads onto..you guessed it..condition dmg+defense+defense+defense with only furthers the current meta and pushes the notion of viable heavy physical melee into an even more unpopular niche.

I like how objective you are, but i think reducing healing signet is myopic in the long run. Sure healing sig maybe passive..but your attention is largely tied up when in melee doing your best to keep in melee range with the abundance of evading and distance creating currently in game.

Frustrated with people in game and LFG tool

Im having a hard time finding fun things to do in the game now that I have 2 toons at level 80. The problem is two fold, #1 the community is absolutely horrible for PUGs, and #2 the LFG tool keeps locking me out preventing me from playing.

Ive been trying to get into Arah since I started using the LFG tool last week. I look for games that dont state any requirements except level. When I get in the group I generally tell the folks that its my 1st time there and so far my getting kicked rate is 100% without comments questions or consideration of actual experience (I am not new to the game). I suppose I could just stay quiet but that can be problematic. I remember my 1st time in Asc and several time getting absolutely lost as players rushed through the zones and ported to shortcuts. Everyone also knew exactly where to stand and what to do on every boss while I had no idea what was going on which one time did indeed end up wiping the group because apparently it uses a special attack if people are not standing absolutely still and stacked in one spot… Which bring me to the idea of group stacking… this is not strategy and has to be the lamest mechanic I have ever seen in any MMO since instant summons in EQ1. Please fix it so that we can enjoy the content properly and if that means toning down bosses so that they can be attacked properly then please do so. Right now they are trivial anyway due to the stacking mechanics.

Unfortunately between the LFG lockout and lack of groups going into Arah in my play time, it seems like the only way I will ever get in is if I pay one of those guys selling the dungeon for 5-6g… which is very steep given I only make about 5g a day and that assumes I get into other dungeons that day to make some gold to begin with. Otherwise I am going to have to grind and do some really boring stuff to make the money which is not why i play games… I go to work to do that.

The problem with the LFG tool is that after completing a quick 15 minute run in a dungeon, I disband and I cannot join anything for a while. I have no idea what the cool down on joining groups is and that is part of the frustration.

Please add some way for casuals to get access to end game without needing groups. Its simply not fun dealing immature people.

I understand your frustration..it took me months to get into arah on the old gw2lfg. In gw2 you can join multiple guilds. There is a lot of posted guilds in forums that do regular Dungeon run tutorials. I have done 3-4 tutorials on different arah paths as they tend to be the most sort after. In all honestly there is some fantastic youtube video posted by various players on “How to.” If you watch those and read the wiki’s they pretty much give you all you need to know and that knowledge based experience is enough for you to be very passable. The only thing that will some times get you anger is if players elect to do something very specific, like jumping up the wall in p3 after crusher rather than stealth or fight your way. I have seen teams go about in all sorts of manner, but if they choose to want to jump up..then knowing where to stand so you jump up first pop is good and if it takes you 20-30 goes..then anger will begin to show. This is also true for things like melee on Lupi..unfortunately the only way to learn these is to do them and have a patient team.

I really like your idea’s. However change rush from leap finisher to projectile finisher. As leap finisher if you run thru black powder and any guardian symbol you’ll receive stealth and retail straight away. As a projectile finisher you have 20% chance that your end strike will cause burning/condi cleanse etc.

A-net is entitled to fairly make a honest income. They are offering skins..not forcing you to buy skins. No one is asking you to take your credit card out. You can use virtual currency, you can skip them altogether or purchase them with real world money.

I personally enjoy the content of gw2 and did use some real world money to get me started. After that i then just effectively made money doing things that gw2 offered me (Dungeons-AP chests-increasing magic find-fractal income now.) However I wouldn’t hesitate to throw them a few more real world money bills if they offered something that I genuinely thought was good work and worth purchasing. A lot the skins they have offered didn’t interest me, but to those it did and they didn’t want to use real world money are now invested earning virtual money for gems which keeps them engaged long enough until the next offer is made. That is entirely fair. Even the recall of human t3 flamekissed armor is fair. They have offered refunds and remunerations. There is nothing unethical about the gemstore and how a-net runs it.

“They are very tough. They have high damage. They are easy to play. What the point to have other classes?”
why play other classes?
to challenge oneself.
to try out light armor or medium armor styles.
personal preferences.
role playing.
etc

“Don’t forget self heal like crazy*”
not really. 400+ health per second can be easily negated with conditions such as bleeding, poison, burning.

“Having more mobility than a thief with no drawbacks.”
thief have stealth.
what do you mean more mobility than a thief with no drawbacks?

When a warrior is threatened by having his god mode challenged.

Said warrior goes into defensive mode. Using block whilst healing with out hindrance.

If he still needs to heal up more. He can use swiftness and mobility skills to out run the enemy (yes even out run thieves). Forcing them to either chase or give up chasing.

Chasing a warrior proves fruitless as the warrior simply resets the fight and is again fighting you at full power.

Thus the only option is to not fight a warrior. Or be one.

what you described seems like a defensively geared warrior.

seems to be working as intended.

You heard it here folks.

God mode.

Working as intended.

perhaps you are missing the point.
a defensive warrior will be hard to take down, not impossible.

Bring a greatsword, bull’s rush, heal signet, melandru runes, lemongrass, spec for mobile strikes/dogged march…. there… there’s your defense… you don’t actually need defensive stats or gear to back it up. Now layer on the stunlock goodies and you’ve got yourself a 1v1 beast that can run with near impunity.

Edit: I beat these warriors only when they are foolish or I let myself get low enough to keep them from running. They usually retreat ~2k units in a couple seconds once they hit half heath.

you forgot to mention they also have 20+ points in discipline..which is toughness/healing..so major investment was made with defense. Please don’t casually try to understate “They make no investment in…” when in fact they have made a major investment. Ask any warrior..would u prefer those 20+ points in power/precision/crit damage if you could?..all would say yes, but they have to make that investment because otherwise they have “No defense.”

The problem with your game for me...

Is that it is a pain in the butt to level. I have to practically do everything I can in a zone in order to progress. This concern is not at all mine alone. I have read many other concerns as such and hate having to chase down events, world bosses, and do all the exploration and story content I can in order to get enough xp just to get to the next zone. I would love it if you guys at Anet instead let people pick and choose their content and give them the xp boost they need to level faster just doing what they like.

My main is lvl 80 and has 280 spare skill points. I am currently up to lvl 20 in the story mode. I have a character in queens dale that is lvl 65 and never left queensdale. I am not sure where your complaint is coming from?

Which class and build is highest CC?

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

I love trying new or less-used strategies.

If I wanted to be the King of Chill…what class seems to have the most CC choices?

Many people will tell you hammer warrior. That only goes to show how many people just fall into popular beliefs in this game and follow the heard.

CC=crowd control

90% of hammer warriors supposed CC is actually single target.
Bulls rush=single target
shield bash=single target
skull crack=single target
back breaker=single target
tremor=single target
earth shaker=hard crowd control
staggering blow=hard small aoe crowd control
launch= hard crowd control
fear me=crowd control

Crowd is a plural, not a singular.

Warrior has access to many form of crowd control for Pvp purposes (CC in PvE is not a worth while investment) however if they choose to equip all crowd control, they will suffer in the short-md-longer terms because they are essentially now just a one trick pony that lacks any diversity.

The more meaningful CC is more than just I knocked that guy down, shove that person aside. CC when well execute will not only disable multiple players, but also force them away from their intended tactics. This is where fear is superior. Hammer simply stops them, from which they will resume exactly from where they left off. Fear on the hand disables them, controls them and drives them away from what they were intending to do.

Hammer is very rinse-repeat friendly, but it requires the warrior to be relatively close to it’s target and it cannot be used in a tiered environment. Necro fear on the other hand can be used from 1200 units away and can be used in a tiered environment. If you want to stand above a skyhammer node and place fear down you can..warrior cannot. This again gives fear the advantage over hammer.

Fear;
1200 unit distance
multiple sources
effective in tiered maps
=superior

Hammer;
300 units
only viable with melee weapons
less effective in tiered environments
=inferior.

Is it time for a "skill balance," subforum?

I think there is more to it than that. But considering the vast majority of players are in PvE, that seems like the sensible place to start. I do agree that having a head of customer quality asurance, head of community feedback, head of artist pvp design, PvE design, PvP design, universal balancer’s, head of audio quality, head of gemstore retail, Ms cheesecake, Ms donut and as couple of Ms seafoods could be leading to some members of the team not getting certain memo’s.

The real tricky part is that if you run fractals, dungeons, PvE, WvW ,PvP you realise one build in a one sector is strong, but if used in another aspect of the game it gets a dunce hat put on it straight away. This is the case with PvP and higher fractals/dungeons. How do you balance that? the upcoming hammer nerf was needed for PvP..but it is going to ultimately make hammer a very unattractive weapon in higher fractals/dungeons..it’s CC doesn’t have effect and its damage has been lowered by 25-30%. Balance that and keep people who have taken the time to craft a legendary happy when telling them their pride and joy has been nerf because of PvP (Which they don’t play.) You can see how this becomes a sticky/tricky problem to juggle.

warrior=apple
ele=pear

Both are fruit. Both grow on a tree. Both grow in a orchard. Both have skin. Both have seeds. Both have a core. Both can produce juice. They are equally the same then. No, they’re not the same. One is a apple..one is a pear..therefore although there maybe similarities, they cannot be compared. What is the point of collecting data on a apple and pear and comparing this element with that element when they are not comparable to begin with.
