Remove all pve mobs

Posted by: Contiguous.1345

Contiguous.1345

maybe if all the mobs were mercenary races like hylek ogre dredge and were only aggressive towards the winning server.

occasionally they would attack tower guards, dolyaks, etc. and once in awhile an NPC commander would show up and lead the NPCs on a legit assault of one of the winning team’s structures.

Haven’t you got that backwards? Obviously Anet would design it so that they would only attack the losing server(s) – (c.f. Bloodlust.)

Perhaps you shouldn’t have suggested it.

Actually, the most efficient way is to do a couple of hours overtime at your day job, buy some gems and convert to gold.

Minimum wage (UK) is £6.20 so say 2 hours = £13 = roughly 1300 gold.
How long would it take you to farm that?

Why do Anet feel it necessary to offer these ripoff deals on things that quite honestly don’t actually exist.

It’s not as if it costs them anything to make so they have to claw-back every begrudging copper coin.

a) It was any use to me at all.
b) It wasn’t attached to a very good chance of getting nothing.

Lost sound, position lag and disconnect

Contiguous.1345

Since the last patch the game has become unplayable.

Whenever there is a reasonable size group activity (20-30+) I get the same symptoms.
Sound cuts out, people continue to move in straight lines till they hit an obstacle or continue the same animation. Then, after several seconds everything rubber-bands to a new position and sound returns. More often than not, I’ve been killed during that time.

If the hiatus goes on for more than a few seconds, I get disconnected with a ‘client has lost connection’ message.

Anyone else suffering? It’s impossible for me to play at all now unless I want to wander around Lion’s Arch and talk to NPCs.

We’re playing Risk but you want to play Monopoly on the board instead. It’s not surprising that Anet keep taking steps to force you to play the game ‘properly’.

I was in such a guild for quite a while but came to see how unhelpful, selfish and elitist it was to play like that.

There are many ways to play wvw , the important part is to have fun. Your attitude is far more selfish and elitist by stating there’s only one set way to play wvw.

I knew that would stir up resentment among the GvG party.

You keep trying to invent your own rules for the game and get upset when Anet don’t go along with it.

You can go into a tennis court and kick the ball around in a game of your own invention, but you can’t call it tennis and demand that the net be removed because it gets in your way.

Of course there’s only one way to play the game. Anet’s way.

Most old Piken Guilds cared for the fights but those are sadly mostly gone now, left in the Wake is Guilds that care mostly for Points. Tho aNet cares only for the Guilds/Zergs who fight for Points not for those who still prefer good fights/GvG’s, the new WvW-Bloodlust buff is just Another proof of that…

That’s how it should be. Guilds that only ‘care for fights’ are playing a game of their own invention, while the rest of us are trying to play the game as it was devised. (By Anet)

Guardian isn’t necessarily ‘tanky’ and the ranger isn’t necessarily squishy. It really depends a lot on how you set the stats.

A tanky build of any class is going to hit like a wet noodle – so don’t expect your guardian to be able to kill anything. In fact, too much armour/toughness and you can die simply because you can’t kill the thing that’s pecking away at you.

The guardian’s great strength is in protecting and buffing others. It’s a great support class but absolute suicide solo.
You won’t survive an encounter with a Ranger for example.

Because there are thousands of players playing for thousands of hours, so even if exotics don’t drop for you, they’ll drop for someone. Chances are that someone will already have their exotics through one of the numerous guaranteed ways to get them, so they’ll put them up for sale instead of using them, especially if it’s a less desired stat combo.

Now wait a minute – that doesn’t make sense.

We’v already established that exotics are a ‘rare drop’. Most players don’t see one in months of play. The chances of getting one out of the mystic toilet are equally slender.
In those months of play, each player will need probably a dozen or so exotics, which he/she will probably buy of the TP. Nobody simply gears up their one character and then sits on it for months playing the same rerun over-and-over.
How many exotics have you bought this year? How many sold?

Per player, that’s one or less in and a dozen or so out. The math doesn’t stack up.

One might almost begin to believe in the spontaneous creation of matter if it weren’t for such a thing being impossible. (note: tongue-in-cheek)
It’s a game, a make-believe world with a smoke-and-mirrors economy.

I’ve never had an exotic drop in about a year of playing but I have no difficulty in finding any exotic I need on the TP (at quite reasonable price too).

This issue of ‘flaming’ is something I keep seeing repeated.
It doesn’t happen.

Admittedly some people have this idea that low level characters die more easily and are likely to provide a rally to opponents but on the whole most people are aware that it doesn’t happen enough to be a problem.
In a guild setting (particularly GvG) it might be an issue so it’s generally avoided, but that’s for the guild to decide. An up-levelled character with good gear is as survivable as anyone else and with skill, probably better so it depends on individual cases.

One thing for sure. If I heard anyone being criticised for entering WvW at any level or with any gear, the critic would hear from me at full volume and probably be reported for harassment. Never seen it happen though.

Since the starting keep/map changes each reset, the only points you should actually have to fight for are in Stonemist no matter how bad your server is.

Contiguous.1345

so, do i have to go to my server’s borderlands or whatever? like when i enter it gives me the choice for a few different ones. i always just go to anvil rock borderlands, since that’s my server. but does it really matter? i usually only spvp, my highest i’ve ever gone in pve was 22.

It generally doesn’t matter. As a low level, you’ll really want to join the karma train behind a Commander, in which case Eternal Battleground is usually your best bet.

The four maps are actually part of one big map. If you zoom out the map you’ll be able to see that and WayPoint from one to the other. Each borderland gives a small layout advantage to the ‘home side’ so it’s more easily held, with EB and it’s castle Stonemist being the central point of contention.

You may need to transfer to a better WvW server. Those at the bottom of the pecking order are there for a reason. Usually they have a high PvE population who don’t like PvP and they are not really going to have much going on in WvW. You might just find it’s a ghost town.
The more people you have in you ‘zerg’ the safer you’ll be until you start to find your feet and venture out alone.

I’ve levelled characters from about level 7. To be honest, it’s so easy to level the first 10-15 levels in PvE anyway and you really need to get your skills sorted out during that period. After that, WvW is the way to go.

I’ve never had anyone attempt to ‘flame’ me and they’d be wasting their time. No-one has the right to tell you how to play this game. Anyone who gets arrogant enough to try it is asking to get banned. Just ignore any such attempt and if it gets too much – just report them.

There’s a huge amount of negativity towards Bloodlust but really, as a game mechanic, it could be a change for the better.

Servers that realise it’s importance and have enough organisation to actually capitalise on it can take and hold the buff for extended periods. Servers that are chaotic zerg-runners will not and you’ll see the effect the OP describes.

Adapt or die. Anything that favours thinking over running around in a rabble gets my vote.

Oh my ears and whiskers. Yes!

I wouldn’t level a character any other way.

You earn tons of karma – which you can trade for PVT weapons/armour with the WvW merchants. The gear needs to be swapped each 5 levels. As long as you do that, you’ll remain reasonably competitive with lvl 80 chars.

Almost anything will get you XP – but that isn’t the point. WvW is fun in a way that PvE isn’t so you probably won’t care.

If you are interested in WvW, I would recommend it as a method of levelling.
Low level characters are up-levelled to 80 in WvW and so is their gear BUT your gear needs to be reasonable to begin with.

Fret not. In the WvW borderland zones you will find karma vendors who will sell you weapons and armour with the best stats for playing WvW at your current level (buy a new set every 6 levels)

Since the gear is bought for karma and WvW makes you a ton of karma anyway, this is a very cheap way to get top-notch gear for both WvW and PvE.

The problem has persisted for a couple of months now despite a couple of dat file wipe-and-repair cycles. I keep hoping a patch will fix it but so far no luck.

The artefact seems to attach to objects – usually figures, but in this case (attach) it’s locked to a tower wall.

in WvW

Contiguous.1345

Not entirely true.
Skill lag is caused by delays in the internet connection between server and client.

Server load is an obvious factor so it gets the blame every time but sometimes it’s just the internet itself and it’s also possible for your own installation to get corrupted enough to cause the connection delays.

I’ve had all sorts of problems turn up on my system after a patch – visual artefacts, DC issues etc.. Deleting and repairing usually fixes them. The recent patch seems to have infected us with skill-lag.

I did a repair and I find 90% of it’s gone away. I was just in a big fight in the borderlands today that went on for half-an-hour and had no problems at all.
