Shadow refuge is great in PvE once you get it. You can accomplish a lot with that in PvE.

Early levels you’ll need to be careful of the area you are in. Thief is kind of squishy. You may have to run to the other side of the map if the area becomes to high of a level. I never thought I was doing much to mobs if they were a level or two above and they were mostly having their way with me in those areas.

Condition Damage vs Critical Damage

in Thief

Posted by: CreativeAnarchy.6324

CreativeAnarchy.6324

In PvE, I liked death blossom quite a lot. Had a decent bleed and group up a few and use that a few times then kite a little till they die. If you go invis, the mobs get taken out of combat and will heal.

Cluster bomb can get a decent stack of bleeds.

I ran a mixture of ravager and valkarie D/D when I leveled and didn’t really specialize. Since I play W3 a bit more I’m running P/D and it isn’t too bad. Doesn’t stack the bleeds as fast or on many people like a death blossom but I’ll swap to a SB for multiple targets. Bit more beefier since I’m running carrion.

I’m not too into backstab build. A bit too glassy for my tastes. Isn’t too bad in PvE but I ended up using blossom a bit more when solo and backstab more if there were others around or especially if there was a condition build. If I was the only one doing conditions or there weren’t very many then I’d toss on some conditions also.

If you need or prefer to take things down fast, condition probably isn’t the way to go. It does help to have someone around to help beat on something if time is a issue. Balisk and devourer venoms help pin down the mob. SB trick shot will bounce to several targets and both poisons will bounce to a second target if you need a little bit of CC.

If it is just the other servers missing a mesmer or a random bug, then we’ve got no problems. Wouldn’t be the first time someones called me a hacker because someone built a wall back up on top of me and trapped me inside it.

I enjoyed this puzzle. It is a bit easy. I loved that Mad King puzzle but I didn’t expect one so difficult for this event. I do hope to see more difficult puzzles in other events.

I really liked the end with the cheering gingerbread and stuff. Nice touch.

I like how I can watch others going through the puzzle if I didn’t feel like playing with the snowballs. This would have been neat for the Mad King puzzle.

I also like the snowball entertainment if I didn’t want to watch the others doing the puzzle.

This needs to stop. (Siege cap sabotage)

CreativeAnarchy.6324

Simple solution.
Remove siege cap.

Really what is the point of it? 200 siege units on EB. I’ve never seen a single server have 200 people to man 200 siege units. Yes you could put a lot of siege everywhere then, but at least this wouldn’t happen and you’d then have a legit method of blocking off sides of the map.

u know why they have the cap right?

there is that abuse too

Anet / ncsosft money department should

and that means all of you fanboys too …
you know less money less content even less bug fixes?

They stopped playing already. OP just wanted a look at me kind of post. All the posters that want to post a “I quit” are a bunch of primadonnas.

I have no problem with fractals which OP mentions. Implies that it is a bad thing but I don’t have a problem with it. I don’t have any problem with ascended that came with fractals.

Bugs, yea they suck. Bugs exist in all games. Some games have had more time to smooth things out so they are less buggy. Reality for fixing bugs though is it takes time and sometimes it may take longer than what we wish. Code may interact weird with another line and it takes a while to figure out why. It isn’t simple. People however think that it will happen in a matter of weeks. Sure, people will suggest that ANet stops releasing content but then you will upset others that would like more content.

Why should the buggs OP is concerned about trump some other players desire for new content? OP isn’t any better person than the next player that also bought this game.

So again, I don’t care, I don’t think ANet is going to be upset. ANet is working on buggs, OP just isn’t willing to give more time.

Some things take time to fix, possibly a year or more. Sure as hell isn’t going to get fixed in the 3 weeks OP stopped playing.

Want to see some real bugs, go play DDO. Some of them are 6 years old and require a engine redesign to fix.

Forumers in the Minority?

CreativeAnarchy.6324

We are a less accurate sample, but an adequate one.

No, not adequate at all.

Plenty of people claim that they speak for the majority. They do not speak for me at all. Really, unless they have signatures from players that stated said player was speaking for them, then they do not speak for them either, regardless of what their bloated ego is telling them.

Forum players tend to know a bit more about the game. They read updates and give their feedback but that does not in any way represent a accurate slice of the game. It is just that one players view. Unless they can prove others have that same opinion, it is just their own personal opinion.

Some players tend to avoid the forums because of how other posters have this self righteous complex and no mater what you try to argue, mister self righteous is going to ignore all reasoning and still declare that they are right and the person that disagrees is a troll.

Then you have the look at me types that think they actually matter to others when they post that they are leaving. Who cares about you really? I sure as hell don’t so they can leave for all I care.

I’ve disagreed with much of what players have complained about. If I remembered to post, I did but usually I’m having fun playing the game. People maybe should just try playing the game.

There is no way in hell do I want ANet to use the forums as a sample. Most of the posters are full of kitten anyway.

I don’t think it is much better.

I was able to see the zerg pop into view but I was still kind of close to it when it did. That was when they were attacking a supply camp. I was running into the camp when I saw them pop. After I saw them, I got brave and thought I would cut them off from retreat by myself. Many on the ledge also were not visible. I got one of them at least.

I think that attackers should be processed and visible before I get within ranged weapons.

Armor value customization

in Suggestions

Posted by: CreativeAnarchy.6324

CreativeAnarchy.6324

Would bring some pretty hefty balancing issues.

I don’t think it would really, especially if they are planning to add in new armor combinations anyway.

I’m not asking for any value to exceed what is currently available, just to be able to assign which number gets the highest value.

They can always put a cap on value so that I cannot exceed 100 power for example(it already exceeds that on a few pieces of gear.)

They said that future expansions are going to have different stat combinations on the new gear. This would completely negate their idea for future expansions even and they consider a different dominate stat to be a different stat combination.

No need to create the new combinations if I can select what I want in the first place(this is something I’ve always felt about crafting in any kind of game. Nothing actually lets me make what I really want and I usually end up settling on something.)

All they have to do is create skins since the player get’s to choose what values they wanted.

Pfft who are you trying to kid here? Level 21 thief and spiked 3 players out of a group of 8 tonight as a P/D thief abusing culling and escaped from retribution by the rest of the group using shortbow offhand. It’s so incredibly easy to solo groups of people with a 90% invisibility duration thanks to culling in WvW we could place the mouse in a fish tank and have the family goldfish do it.

As you stated, they were abusing culling.

When this issue gets fixed, I don’t think they will as OP as you are making them out to be.

Death Blossom: This skill is obviously weaker than others but the problem with this skill is only noticeable if you compare it with our other method of stacking 3 bleeds; Cluster Bomb. Cluster Bomb is cheaper to use, deals more damage, doesn’t root you in a fairly obvious set animation and lastly it is ranged.

Death Blossom makes you invincible, and it’s easy to just immediately do 9-12 stacks of bleed on something. Also the bleed from Death Blossom lasts 150% longer. Also Death Blossom does 3 stacks of bleed and Cluster Bomb does 1 (it says 3 because if you detonate it early each one can bleed, but a regular shot will only do 1 stack). Also you can’t spam Cluster Bomb because of the extra detonate mechanic, which will likely make you miss if you actually use it. And even if you do, it costs an extra 1 initiative.

If you death blossom to get 9-12 stacks of bleed on something, you’ve run out of initiative, even when you trait for extra initiative. The extra initiative gained on crit from traiting isn’t going to make it up either and that trait ability is in a different line than the one that just giveg extra initiative.

It is nice solo but crap in a group with other condition builds. If you are the only condition build in a group…unlikely in a W3 zerg…it can come in handy and is nice.

Isn’t too bad of a move in W3 when you’re back stab didn’t work and you need to mix it up a little but it isn’t a move that my thief would consider a go to move for damage, especially when my gear doesn’t have any condition enhancement on it. I’ve used it instead to make the other player think for that split second to determine if the bleed is actually doing enough damage to warrant it’s removal, and also to flip to their other side for a second back stab try while they are trying to locate me in the mass of other players. If I fail that second backstab, I’m out of oomph and have to run.

You have to learn how to play this class just like every other class.

There is no magic escape button. I’ve had my butt handed to me plenty of times. I have yet and will never make a post about the other class being OP because I know that if a good player is behind those controls, they will make anything OP.

I wish I had that easy button other players think I have as well as all the other skills and traits that I seem to possess and active at the same time as all the others in my list. Last I checked I can only have 3 skills, a heal skill and a elite skill active at the same time. Wish I knew how the others get activated at the same time. I also want to know how they got extra trait points. I could really use those extra points.

on the other player, is there any benefit to hitting F for the finisher instead of just stabbing a player in a downed state? I do understand it will kill the other player regardless of how much health they have in that downed state but it takes 3 seconds and so far, I can typically kill them off fast enough. I’ve also had a bit of trouble when the other player pulls one of their down state tricks.

I’ve also been hitting F to loot and also activated the finish animation when another player was already doing that. Isn’t hard to break out of it.

I’ve also jumped into a fight and helped out. Does it really matter who does the finish move? Do we all benefit from something like extra loot or is it just to humiliate the other player?

I would like to be able to dead fire my cluster bomb without the game telling me that stuff is out of range.

Scenario 1…
I’m on top of a wall defending the front gate. I aim down at the players but I cannot shoot my cluster bomb because they are out of range.

I don’t need it to be in range, I just need to lob it over their heads so I can explode it and surely firing it down won’t put it out of range.

Really, any type of projectile isn’t going to be out of range when you are firing it downward. May not be accurate in some cases but it will still continue to go downward, the direction you fired it. It won’t stop till it hits the ground and I don’t think that really needs to be in range to fire a weapon downward.

Scenario 2…
I’m attacking a wall and trying to keep the defenders from being able to kill us while we attack the gate. I can hit them standing on top of the wall if they are brave enough to get close to the edge. I can hit the top of the wall itself. If I point it straight up with nothing but sky in my sights, I cannot fire because it is out of range. I would like to be able to shoot straight up and keep up suppressing fire by making the bombs explode at just over the top of the wall.

Scenario 3…
I’m shooting at the Shatterer and/or Tequatl but to use cluster bomb on it’s foot, I have to get fairly close to the dragon before it isn’t going to be out of range.

Cluster bomb is something that does not need a target to actually use because it fires a cluster that will hit something, so I should be able to fire it even if the game thinks I’m out of range. If people want the game to continue to tell them that something is out of range, then give me a option to tell the game to stop it for my character.

I think waypoint costs are goofy.
I don’t think it should scale with the level of the character but should cost by the number of waypoints in as straight line as possible that are between you and your destination with a reasonable distance between waypoint nodes before you have to deviate to a slightly crooked line to hit another waypoint. You may have to circle a map if there are no nodes in the middle of it but that is reasonable. I kind of think of them as a bus line of sorts and the nodes are stations.
I would not mind them being scaled to level if they scale to your level in the zone you are porting around so if you are in Queensdale, the cost should be scaled to the level you are at in that zone.

Skills

I’d like to see more combat skills that can be swapped in like we can with our other skills.
I’d like to have one or two more combat moves that I can use. Five just seems a little bare. I’d just like to mix things up a bit more is all. Personal taste.

Gear

I’d like to see legendary type of armor skins.
How about some cloaks in the back spot?

Other…

Underwater combat is kind of meh.

Please make a spot in the crafting bank for all crafting materials.
I’d like the ability to make my stack of crafting material go above 250. Allow me to purchase the ability to make the storage stack go to 500 or however much I want to store.

I’d like to see a more robust LFM/social panel. Let’s say I want to do Sorrow’s Embrace and am already in Dredgehaunt Cliffs but no one in map chat has spoken of any interest in doing that dungeon. I should not then have to go to Lion’s Arch to get a group. I should be able to post a listing to do said dungeon and anyone anywhere can look at that LFM panel and say to me that they are interested, join my group, and make their way to the dungeon.
You may also want to consider having that LFM go across server so that I could join up with a group that is forming on JQ if I do not see a group for the type I want to run on SoS.

You need to make the NPCs less squishy. I can see them dying if they are overwhelmed but they should at least be able to put up a decent fight one on one.
They should have a better range of sight when one of their buddies is getting attacked. Kind of funny to watch a group of bad guys tear through a town but the rest of the town is oblivious to the rampaging bad guys standing 20 feet in front. You’d think a buddy would come help you or something when they are standing right there watching you get mauled. Give them some glasses or a bit more courage.

Mobs are dispersed a bit weird I think. Some types seem like they should be a bit more closer together and roaming, wolves for example. Really shouldn’t be too much in the area of wolves, I could see critters moving in and out of their area but generally weaker animals would want to avoid the pack. Instead wolves just kind of sit and hang out in one spot but spread out. It just feels a bit odd.

I think some mobs like deer should be kind of sketchy and try to avoid players. Deer wouldn’t normally allow a person to stand right in front of it. Take the bravery you gave to the deer and give it to the NPC soldier types so that they help their buddy getting mauled in front of them.

What you did with the chickens in Stronghold of Ebonhawke was funny.

Thank you.

PvE areas I have not been to is any place in Orr or Mount Maelstrom.
I have not done sPvP or dungeons yet.
I just want to say what I’m thinking before I forget about the stuff I’ve ran through.

So….

WvWvW

This is fun.
You really need to fix that culling issue. I dislike dying and then seeing the mass of players around me. I do like if it is players using skills to invis as a tactic against me, I don’t like a bug being the reason I could not see the other players.
I’m happy with W3 otherwise.

PvE

I really like the areas that have a lot of nooks and crannies as well as mountains. I think the Norn areas are my favorite areas to explore. I like mountains and typically try to get as high as I can.
Some mountains I think I should be able to climb up to the top but you have it blocked even though it is a gentle slope and the same that I’ve just ran up and it isn’t the edge of the map.
I liked Frostgorge Sound quite a bit. I liked the vast underwater area with all that mountain area.

I like all the cave type areas. Those are fun to explore.

Metrica province is also fun. I really like that zone as a whole. Even though this doesn’t have the mountains of the Norn area, this province is my favorite because of the DEs. I think you did a really fine job here.

My favorite area for a atmospheric pov is Mellagan’s Grotto. Jumping puzzle is kind of simple but I like how you made the kids come over to res you if you happen to fall and die.
I also feel soothed in that area.
Nice touch.

I really like the new jumping puzzle “Skipping Stones.” I would like to see more of these kinds of active puzzles.
I also like Spekks’ Labratory.
I’d like to see edges touched up in some jumping puzzles. That was my biggest issue with the Mad King’s Clock Tower. Loved that puzzle.

I think for Southsun Cove that you should run that opening event on a regular basis. The area is kind of meh. The events you have are the same events that we have done in other areas.
The debut event was kind of fun. It was long but it was still kind of fun.
Other than “Skipping Stones,” I do not find the area remarkable and don’t feel there is any other reason to really stay out here.
I do like some of the landscape like the driftglass springs.
I really like that “Skipping Stones” jumping puzzle. Yes, I said it again.

Other areas I like are Vexa’s Lab or the “Don’t touch the shiny.” Those types of events are fun.

Say I have a Superior Rune of the Elementalist and I have 6 on.

1) +25 power
2) +17 condition damage
3) +50 power
4) +40 condition damage
5) +90 power
6) Burning and Frozen last 20% longer.

Is the total benefit the total of each rune x 6 since I have 6 items on. That adds up to
990 power, 342 condition damage, and burning and frozen last 120% longer

or

Do you only get the benefit of each tier applied once and you need all 6 to get all tiers meaning power total is 165, condition damage total is 57, and burning and frozen last 20% longer

or

Does the highest value in the list get applied meaning the total power I get is 90, the total condition damage I get is 40, and hot/cold yada.

My hit points are 14k at lvl 73. Toughness and vitality are on my accessory set also gemed out with toughness and vitality. The accessory set has stats found on lvl 50 stuff.

I’ve read around trying to find some answers but not really finding specifically what I would really like to know.

How important is toughness really? Most that I currently have is on that accessory set and it is a lvl 50 set I bought because I didn’t have much else over there and I wanted more hit points. Is toughness something that needs a heavy investment to actually do something? Is it a form of damage reduction and if it is a DR type of stat, how much is needed to actually matter? If it is a DR stat, is it 1 point of toughness = 1 point of damage reduction or is it something different? I’m not finding the answer in the wiki.

I’m also not sure how it works with the defense stat on armor. Frankly, I don’t understand that defense stat. Toughness doesn’t seem like it really helps much in PvE but so far the highest level mobs I’ve dealt with was in the labyrinth with all the other stuff I’ve killed in the lvl 35 zones. I plan on doing some WvW after I’ve ran around the game a bit and figured out what does what.

Since I’m still working through the PvE zones and right now I’m running around at around level 35 to 45, my gear gets down scaled with my level, it seems that I should probably still have a decent amount of toughness from that set since the set has level 50 stats. I don’t really understand how level adjusting works in relation to gear and I’m assuming that all gets adjusted also. My armor is stuff around level 60 typically with power and mostly precision or with a piece with condition damage and 2 with crit damage as a third stat. I’m waiting to 80 before I set on some armor and stats since I’ve already spent enough silver checking out some other stuff like runes.

My damage output also seems a bit weak but it could just be mobs just have a lot of hit points or I just haven’t put a focus on my armor stats. Every piece has power on it though and there are several with precision and one or two with condition damage. The gem slots have 2 items with seal of the soldier and 4 items with a major rune of the warrior. Sooo…

How do these things add up? Rune of the warrior wearing 4 items is it actually 50 vitality for each rune(15 +35 on each,) so that I’m getting 200 vitality total from that set?

What constitutes as a glass cannon? I don’t like to have low HP characters but I’m wondering if in here a glass cannon is low HP and low toughness or just low HP. I understand the power output is high just trying to figure out where it is squishy. I’m just curious for a reference when I read other people’s posts.

Where does stealth fall at in relation to boon duration? I noticed the invis timer symbol pops on the line with my skills when I activate the hjeal or shadow refuge but I’m wondering if the invis duration falls under a boon. I have 20 points put into acrobatics. It doesn’t seem like it lasts longer. Could be that the duration is so small that it is difficult to tell(I do sometimes want it to last longer though.) Shadow refuge also sometimes gives me a 12 second timer or a 10 second timer so I’m having a bit of trouble figuring this out.

Out of 10, what would you rate this year's GW2 Halloween Event?

Loved that clock tower. Only wish a few edges had been smoothed out on some of the jumps.

Other than that, I liked the event.

Norn males are awesome because they can crush peoples heads with an arm pump

I’d rather make a nice tall blonde female. Much more pleasing to look at in the middle of my screen as I’m stabbing things.

If I’m going to play a human, it will be female because if I’m going to look at the backside of a human, I’d rather look at a backside of a female.

Charr don’t have anything good to look at anyway so I’d play a male then.

I also like the plant chicks. They just have better curves.

Male characters tend to be more bulky heavy duty shapes. Females tend to be more artistic.

Too much equality in GW2, end-game is far too limited.

I don’t care to grind.

If the game is fun, I’ll still play.

I’ve stopped working toward other items in other MMOs just because it wasn’t fun to play that dungeon or area. If I got what I wanted helping guildies, fine, otherwise I’m not going to go out of my way and work toward a item. I still played the game because there was still a lot of other stuff that I liked doing because it was fun, I just didn’t care if I got certain stuff or not.

If the game is fun, I’ll still play. I don’t need a grind.

I also don’t think MMOs are about a grind. I play to socialize and compete against other players. I’m not playing just to grind out something. Like I’m really going to sit down and think “hey, I’m bored today. I think I’ll play a game like it is a job.” Give me a break.

Why I think teleport costs are unreasonably hight

I think the costs are goofy.

I think if you teleport within a zone, it should be cheaper than when you go across the world.

They could also figure the cost by how many teleports there are between and basically have one teleport cost and how many nodes are between you and your destination is how much it would cost to go a certain distance.

I don’t think it should be based upon character level. Basing teleport cost on character level just doesn’t make any kind of sense to me. If it is to remain based upon character level, then it should be cheaper when you get down scaled and appropriate cost for the level loot you are getting within that zone.

I would like to key map a button to turn on and off mouse look without having to constantly hold down the mouse button to mouse look.

I would also like to be able to set my mouse buttons to any function that I want.
