I like the content we’re getting. My only complaint would be that I’d like more. Which I imagine isn’t really much of a complaint since it’s essentially like asking for a second and third helping of desert.
Anyway I think people calling for expansions are using the wrong terminology. The concept of an expansion is rather loaded in my opinion. I think it might be helpful to specifically say what expansion-type content you’d prefer (things like new races, or places or whatever is commonly thrown together under the heading of an expansion).
EDIT:
I want an Expansion.
Meaning:
New races.
New large maps (like double the size)
New classes.
New weapon types.
New personal story (or continuing the LS as a replacement for it)
Basically like this (we posted at more or less the same time in my defense :P ). A list like this provides clear topics of discussion and a clear indication of what we want.
As for larger maps, I think we need to consider the two types of maps we currently have in game. The Meta-Maps (Dry Top and Silverwastes) and the Exploration-Maps (basically all the other maps). I think that the Meta-Map concept isn’t scale-able (although we’re not really there yet, and meta-maps do have their place). I would love to see many many many more exploration-maps (with the focus being on doing events, and finding secrets and mini-dungeons etc. instead of filling up a map wide bar).

In fact they need to have mandatory Babylon 5 nights and watch the whole series, very good example of what the living story should (could) be.
Well Babylon 5 wasn’t exactly everyone’s cup of tea. Mind you I would love it if ANet had some long term plans. Currently it feels like they’re mostly going season to season.
Mind you they better not do a Babylon 5 and go from elder alien races war-ing for the future of the entire human race to boring boring boring psychics and spy nonsense. Although maybe they already did that when going from Zhaitan to Scarlet.
So with Legendaries 2.0 promised to come 1+ year ago and still not being out
If you don’t mind me white knighting a bit… ANet never promised, simply said they were looking into it.
Suggestions:
1. Add selectable unique footfall effects for each Legendary
2. Add selectable unique colors/special effects to each Legendary
3. Add selectable unique soundeffects to each Legendary
Or they could add more legendaries, although I guess adding more and more legendaries isn’t particularly a scale-able solution (and would eventually take away from the legendary-ness).
This sounds like something rather interesting, that I will never ever ever be able to experience if it’s going to be limited to the top players (which I am not).
I do kinda feel like GW2 doesn’t have a lot of prestige at present (although not sure if the suggestion is the answer). A lot of people have at least 1 legendary (heck even I’m half ways towards my first legendary), a lot of players have full ascended, a lot of players are dragon level in pvp etc. So I definitely think ANet needs to give us something else (the luminescent armor sort of does this, but it’s not really that prestigious and it’s only a matter of time until everyone’s gonna be wearing them).
It would be interesting, although I’d think keeping the childhood to a very short starting instance would be ideal (and also making it optional). Mind you Sylvari’s won’t be getting much out of this though…
Yay! Although I got nothing good from the key yet again. So I’ll never actually buy myself a key (not again) but I do love getting them.
In the EU I can’t say I’ve had too much hassle finding myself a good map, but yeah peak times is probably the way to go.
And even if they manage to reclaim Ascalon… For what? Having to fight Ascalon’s Ghosts, Flame Legion, Branded, Ogres, Renegades, and the local fauna additionnaly to Centaurs and bandits?
Actually I’m pretty sure the Renegades would be on their side if humans retook Ascalon, seeing as how they want to retake Ascalon for the humans. .
You’re thinking Separatists. Renegades are the charr wanting to wipe the humans from existence.
XD
Naval combat! Now THAT I would love to see and do!
Well I’d prefer Airship combat, but hey why not.
Don’t you miss walking around the town searching the stores that people create in town and getting all excited when you find a store/shop with amazing item etc etc?
Don’t you miss creating a store/shop before going to sleep?
I can’t say that I do, but then again I never experienced it. Doesn’t sound fun though.
Huh nostalgia xD
Yeah, too bad nostalgia tends to colour ones experiences.
I agree that gold sinks are necessary for a healthy economy – in general – but I still feel they’ve been taken to an extreme in this game. The currency exchange wasn’t an afterthought.
Not exactly sure about that. Actually other than the TP what exactly do you do with gold? Buy salvage kits, gathering tools, wp etc. none of which are particularly expensive.
Presumably these items are selling or they’d be replaced with something that does.
This is only a thing for brick and mortar stores. Digital stores don’t really have the issue of limited shelve space (unless the system itself is badly designed). The only issue is with visibility (although that’s more of a UI issue), and it’s not like the store is overflowing with similar type of items. So I don’t think the argument is particularly valid.
i would like a direct trade system like GW1 but that’s about it…
Nah, from a consumer side I prefer a single channel of item acquisition. The issue with direct trading is that with multiple channels they’re not necessarily competing directly with each other, meaning that a crafty seller (selling at odd hours, or in odd locations) can sell an item for a price above that of his or her competitors. Good for the seller not for the buyer.
i have 2 questions: will season 1 ever become available again for those who missed it
ANet stated that they would like to do make it available but since the format was different to S2s they’d be unable to easily fit it into the current system. Thus additional work would be needed and around the start of S2 ANet stated that they had no one working on the conversion (might have changed but who knows?).
and nr2: since i have no acces to season 1 and its not even listed i assume that the content is only temporary. is this true?
S1 was all temporary, and only available for 2 or so weeks years ago. Players complained so S2 used a new permanent system.
don’t think you can relive Season 1 as most of the event happened on the persistent maps, as oppose to instances in Season 2.
I don’t know I still very much feel like ANet would at least be able to make the story instances available with little to moderate work needed. But that’s just the opinion of someone who doesn’t know the code base or anything about the internal structure and capabilities of Anet.
mb forgot I was in the living world forum.
What do you mean by TP? I have 200k karma and I forget how many badges.
You can buy exotic gear in Orr for around 40K karma a piece (although stats aren’t too varied). Not sure about WvW prices but it’s not too extreme either. Could also just use dungeon tokens which is around 2K (maybe a bit less).
The real thing you need to consider is the type of gear you want.
Not a whole lot of new stuff, there is one shot that looks like a mordrem version of the lane defense that we saw during the marionette but I don’t see that happen… Not a whole lot to see tbh, I find it hard to get super pumped when I see a dragon in a trailer when its just roaring and not really doing stuff….
To be fair people have been speculating about a marionette style boss in SW since the map was released and we could see the three lanes. So I wouldn’t really say it is impossible or even unlikely that something like that might happen.
Yeah but ANet would really have to widen and lengthen those lanes a bit if they’re planning a marionette style fight. No way you’ll get a server full of people to fit nicely in those lanes.
Nothing was “hard” about the marionette fight… I don’t think anyone ever failed the lane part… the hard part was you had to rely on noobs in blues and greens to do the platforms and they died 90% of the time.
Equipment wasn’t the problem, tactics were.
One thing that annoyed me: where the HELL is Rytlock?
Having amazing and fun adventures in the mists. Fighting demons and gods, exploring new and unimaginable locations, make friends, making foes, ensuring the very future of all existence.
I’m sure he’ll tell us all about it when he comes back.
Caithe is glint reincarnation.
Interesting theory, considering that Caithe fought alongside Glint in the novel Edge of Destiny, against Kralkatorrik.
Well there’s no reason souls need to follow a strictly linear time-line when it comes to reincarnating.
I was thinking that that cave is where the Pale Tree seeds are/were located.
Could be. Personally I’d prefer to find that other Pale Tree though.
Just hope there won’t be another long break :S
Aren’t we all. There was a break between S1 and S2, the mid S2 break, the x-mas break (which is understandable). So I’d hate to see another break between S2 and S3, but realistically if the past is anything to go on well probably get another 2 month break.
im betting feature patch 3-4 weeks after this update. It will also include the next WvW tournament. They might even throw in something like the dragon bash and queens pavilion again. Then after about 6 weeks they will start the next story arc (unless they actually do intend to have an expansion)
Probably the most likely scenario. Well feature packs aren’t that bad though, the second one wasn’t as nice as the first (although I’m mostly thinking of the wardrobe system) but still maybe they’ll do something fun and unexpected.
But otherwise yeah, Ascalon is a nest of crazy that’s not worth it.
One day Ascalon will be taken back and the glorious kingdom that once thrived there will be rebuilt.
It is only a matter of time.
I think you’re absolutely right. I just don’t think it will be a human kingdom ;P
So a Grawl Kingdom then? Well they do actually have the most legitimate claim.
I think most people forget Charr were in Ascalon first, so really the humans are the evil kittens, and Charr are nice fluffy kittens.
Actually the Charr took it from the Grawl before it was taken by the humans…
Would a handheld device be out of the question?
Pretty sure Scarlet had one, so why not.
And the only ones using them are tied to the Orders, Pact, or other important group (charr High Legions, for example).
Probably due to the cost of use. Don’t imagine every merchant would have the ability to wp around everywhere. Our PCs have a number of lore related reasons why they get to use it cheap though.
I tend to be more interested in ‘commoner’ lore than ‘hero’ lore. More accurately, how the two are foils or complements of the other. From what others here have stated, there is no evidence or examples of commoners using the way point system, only the Asuran gate system.
Since the way point system is a web of interconnecting paths rather than a point-to-point path, perhaps a hero’s greater ‘magical density’ (yes, I am making that up) is needed to maintain path finding.
Well in the case of commoners you can basically expect that it isn’t economically feasible unless they have some ties to a larger organisation. We only really see WP being used in the later areas of the game (and rarely at that), in the lower level areas most of the merchants need to go from point A to point B by foot, thus necessitating the hiring of adventures (which is still probably cheaper than the WP system).
Not sure about the magical density thing. We have little lore about our PCs actually being special beyond the ability to be at the center of most major events. So we don’t have any lore stating that we’re the biggest, strongest, toughest or most magically dense.
Also, rather than posting duplicate threads it’s recommended to add to existing topics if there is already a thread that discusses the topic.
I’ll echo this as well.
Posting another topic that is just repeating another topic will not make anything better.
Your* thoughts on the matter can just as easily be put into the existing topic. There’s nothing more special about your* thoughts cluttering up the boards with multiple threads all dealing with one issue.
Yes that means posts are just added to a great big thread, but honestly they’re going to be moved there anyways.
*You and your all in the generic sense, this post is not specifically targeting anyone.
Yeah, but the rules around necro-ing was never really all that clear to me (in general, but particularly on these forums).
How do you have a ‘Forum’ without a debate, conflict is not inherently bad.
Well it’s all pretty semantical, but I pretty sure that conflict is not inherently synonymous with debate and vice-versa. Related sure, but it doesn’t inherently follow that all arguments are based around conflict and that all conflicts involve debate (sometimes they involve shooting).
cognitive dissonance , That is what I was looking for, tyvm.
I do like this game, which is why I play it in all my free time, while at the same time kittening and moaning about the stuff that drives me nuts in the game, that I wish anet would change. I don’t want free loots, or mounts or any of that other crap. I just need some stronger heroin, to use a terrible metaphor.
Not cognitive dissonance unless there’s some black and white thinking (or splitting since we’re (and by we I mostly mean me… I know bad habit) being all technical) thrown into the mix.
Use tact. Problem solved.
Ah if only that could be so easy. Mostly because tact is a bit of a loaded word. More specifically: use tone and wording that is acceptable in western (primarily American… although I’m fairly sure America has varied definitions of tact as well) semi-formal society. You see some culture actually promote a certain amount of candor that would be considered rude for example calling someone who is being idiot and idiot, even if objectively true the statement would be considered rude by some.
Should they respond if they have nothing new to say? Do posters really need to hear someone say, “Hey, I’ve got nothing new to say, but I’m here.”? I sure don’t need that amount of reassurance.
Either you’re relatively new or missed the whole “we need more feedback” discussions on the forums that went on a few months ago. There was a lot of people looking for those kinds of responses… Granted it was mostly phrased like: "if we’re talking about X and we haven’t heard anything official in Y period, then ANet should at least state that nothing has occurred in regards to X). A prime example would be pre-cursor scavenger hunts.
It boils down to which moderator you get. I’ve posted two comments in the last month that were very, very similar. One was infracted, the other wasn’t.
Well if we had to choose between a automated system or a human system with some variation in application of rules I’d much rather go for the human system. Computers just aren’t there yet and those systems tend to be a bit too easy to game.
And I’m really curious (but careful not to raise my expectations to expansion-hype levels) what & where Anet are going in 2015.
Aren’t we all :P
Season 2 is still suffering from the problem that plagued Season 1 that the episodes aren’t telling complete stories, and frequently they’re skipping out on a conclusion by setting up another story thread.
Very much this. Issues do exists somewhat with the delivery and the segmentation of the story. In the beginning the episodes felt slightly more complete (ish) but as we went along we’ve gotten more plots separated between episodes. For example getting everyone to the summit was divided into two episodes even though logically that seems more like something that would fit into a single episode. The mystery around caithe is also turning into a multi-episode things even though this impacts the delivery and pacing somewhat.
The pacing issues is probably more a result of the segmentation and the fact that the episodes are becoming somewhat formulaic, first episode we have a talky instance (no combat, but still nice for lore I guess), have a few instances (a bit of variety comes in here) and then we have the boss fight at the end. Using Caithe as an example, just as we’re getting into solving the mystery of Caithe we hit the mandatory boss fight and then the end of the episode. The next episode looks like it’ll be another talky one (back in the priory) which isn’t a bad thing but taking it as a whole it breaks the pacing we built while running through far shiverpeak.
So I don’t know, I don’t think the instances are bad (I like the talky ones and I like the boss fights) but the ordering of them (why not having a talky one in the middle of a episode? Or at the end?) and the habit of breaking plot lines between episodes (that making most episodes feel like cliffhangers and overall impacting the pacing).
Although given that I’m fairly sure the reason for this is the effort required to produce content (thus it might be difficult to produce a plotline worth of content for a single episode).
I’m not sure of the solution though. Get more people? Start working on branching story lines (i.e. continue on with Mordy but also give us Rytlock)? turn the bi-weekly into tri-weekly to allow for more rounded episodes? Like I said I’m not sure.
EDIT:
Edit: I did like season 1 more, the marionette, lion’s arch battle and the tower of nightmare because of it’s mechanics, not the story related. Funny uh?
Narrative engagement vs mechanical engagement. To use extreme examples: tetris has zero narrative engagement but full mechanical engagement. GW2 offers both narrative and mechanical engagement, but of course different people prefer different things. S1 had a far stronger mechanical component to it while S2 seems to be trying for both with obvious mixes player feedback.
(edited by CureForLiving.5360)
We’ve got enough elites kittens in this game, I certainly don’t want to have more reason to complain and discriminate.
Probably means nothing, like the previous images they posted.
Well I wouldn’t call them meaningless, however probably not going to have much or any impact on the game any time soon (which I guess is meaningless by some accounts).
Significant upheaval and terrain shifts have altered the face of Tyria in the past two and a half centuries, in some cases making familiar locations all new.
So a lot of stuff changed over the last few hundred years. We were using old Priory maps. That’s fine. Although I’m not a GW1 alumni, so I guess that kinda makes my opinion here less weighty.
Well as much as I enjoy the heart warming story of the love shared by two quaggans overcoming the numerous obstacles in their journey to find a place to call home I don’t think there’s a good lore reasons for them to popup in Silverwastes.
Of course I’m still adamant that they’re in fact agents of malice and destruction (because last time I checked troubled followed them around). So maybe at the end of Season 2 it will be revealed that they’re actually The Entity that drove Scarlet mad and set in motion the awakening of Mordy. I bet they’re actually champions of Steve the Deep Seas Dragon!
Well my country of birth leaves me ineligible (discrimination! :P )… also… I’m not a lore meister… wish I was though. Also is there much of a need for the a Forum Specialist on the lore forum?
As I’ve said previously I like Silverwastes and Dry Top, I think ANet is really getting the hang of these meta-maps (as I like to call them, because they all have a map wide meta-event). The only issue of course is how many more of these maps can you add before the player base gets too spread out? Currently we have Silverwastes and Dry Top but what will it be like if we have 10 similar maps?
But I do miss the old exploration maps. Granted the exploration map provide less engagement in the long run (because how many times can you run through a map like Plains of Ashford or Kessex Hill), but in my opinion they do a wonderful job of opening up the world of Tyria and telling the story of Tyria.
- 4-7 new zones in the Maguuma Jungle(the actual jungle, not this wasteland stuff)
Lore-wise I don’t think there’s actually a Jungle left. It kinda dried up. Possibly due to Mordy, or maybe some other reasons.
i like elona better than cantha…… would like to fight Palawa Joko and his minion….
No more zombies! Although I guess we’ve been fairly zombie less for a while now. Still Orr was zombie overdose for me.
I remember a similar thing happened to Mass Effect 3 where people just could not accept that bioware could end the series in a certain way. They came up with crazy theories to try and justify their hopes that ultimately turned out to be in vain as bioware stated that the ending was final and canonical.
Actually I found the whole thing to be very entertaining. Some nice theories, some interesting videos. Of course I have a thing for over-analysis.
I doubt Anet has an expansion in the works. More likely they are waiting until they conclude season 2 (if they ever conclude it…) before deciding if they want to keep doing more like season 2, or reevaluate the format before proceeding to season 3.
Seeing as how content is produced months ahead of time, they’ll most likely trying to implement as much season 2 feedback as possible into season 3. Season 2 however wasn’t that big of departure from season 1 but rather a refinement and improvement on what they were doing in season 1. So Season 3 will likely just be a further refinement on the format.
Then you have to wait 4 months for the season to continue. Meanwhile no questions actually answered, Caithe is still at large with the egg, Rytlock is still missing, Mordremoths giant tentacles continue to spread across the Silverwastes. Nothing is revealed about the fact that all the lost badges were White Mantle. We don’t get to see whats in that room where all the tentacles are spreading from. Etc, Etc.
By the way, I’m calling it now: Whenever we do get back to Rytlock, it’s going to be just like the Caithe memories. We play as Rytlock doing things in the mists, and it’s going to take 19 episodes (each lasting 5 minutes with 2 week intervals) before it concludes.
Yeah, ANet loves creating mysteries, perhaps a bit too much. Pacing is also perhaps problematic. I guess you’re right (if somewhat hyperbolic) regarding how ANet loves dragging things out. Personally think Caithe’s story should rather have been in a single episode. Stretching it out brakes flow, and in my opinion somewhat ruins the ability to coherently and cohesively convey narrative.
Although I’m not sure if the flashback / memory style is all that bad. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it strips away my skills! If they could somehow allow me to play as myself, but also experience the flashback that would work a bit better (for me at least).
Yeah, but it’ll be a welcome relief playing man Ritlock…
… After the current living story which has focused on lesbians investigating the gossip of other lesbians.
Honestly lesbians never bothered me. Although maybe Anet can put in a straight couple next season? At least that would be an interesting experiment, see if a straight couple gets as many complaints.
Maybe 80-100 people are working on the second half of episodes of season 3 right now….
There are only 20 devs working on Living Story content at one time, Season 3 would count as Living Story content…
Which has led to so many conspiracy-theory-esque conversations. With a workforce of supposedly around 300 what are the rest of them up to? Oh sure a lot of them are support staff, PR or what not but surely there’s a fair number of developers beyond the 20 or so that do Living Story…
I hope you’re kidding, it would be a ridiculous content for an expansion…
Expansion is such a loaded word…
Costs about 200 gems per episode. You could wait until the end of the season, and maybe (although it hasn’t been confirmed) ANet might bundle the content together at a lower price.
Also Wooden Potato doesn’t have any lore videos up yet (for Season 2 at least…. wonder if he has season 1 stuff?). Although it does seem that WP might eventually start producing them (or has noted that he’d like to, so it’s not confirmed either).
Balancing for challenge is difficult. Players want a challenge so ANet adds some challenging content, however given the variety of players it seems only natural that some might find content more challenging and other less challenging. ANet can’t possible make content that is equally challenging to everyone. This is simply the reality of the situation. You find it difficult someone else doesn’t. I do think ANet needs to balance difficulty for the majority however, but unfortunately only ANet has stats on how may players have those achievements, or how many tries it takes, or how long it takes to get those achievements.
Oh, and new players also don’t get Living Story Season 1. In any fashion. ANet, I’d love you to rectify this somehow.
Well wouldn’t we all. But I keep getting this feeling that ANet sees the converting of Season 1 into Season 2 format to be this big complicated and possible not possible. Although then again they probably know more about the technicalities of these sorts of things (since they did make the game and all), but from my perspective it seems like the sort of thing you could throw a 5 man team together for and have them slowly trickle out adapted/converted S1 content. At the very least a story instance here or there. Doesn’t even have to be chronological, do the easy instances first and then move on to the kittenes.
Hey, remember when we got Grand Theft Auto, that old 2D game? I was really shocked to find out I had to pay for the futue stories. I mean, who in their right mind does that??
I can’t help but get the feeling you’re trying to contradict Tobias Trueflight with a separate example of your own. Having mercilessly played GTA though (back in the day) I’m not understanding the analog here. Did Rockstar bring out new stories after the game launched? I don’t seem to remember that. GTA was followed up by GTA2 and you had to pay for that.
Anet you’re kaks… plain and simple.
… Please don’t tell me your South African… Oh god you might even be Afrikaans…
How is this even creating so much drama?
People love drama. Gamers especially love drama.
What would happen if a Pale Tree seed was planted on an Elder Dragon grave site? Would it have enhanced powers that other pale trees don’t have? Would other creatures in the area share those enhanced powers? Would the magic from the elder dragon allow them to resist other elder dragons?
Well… do Pale Trees absorb magic? They probably have to I guess, the rules of magic is fairly straight forward in Tyria. Magic cannot be created or destroyed but can be moved. Like thermodynamic I guess. So since the Pale Tree is rather magical either magic was infused during seed phase or absorbed while the tree grew. Working off of the assumption that a Pale Tree absorbs magic then while the ED is sleeping (or in this case is dead) magic would leak out and the tree would absorb it, thus likely have enhanced power. So if the Pale Tree can absorb magic (I don’t think we have any evidence of this?) then the hypothesis seems highly likely.
In the case of a sleeping ED when it wakes up… well I don’t imagine a Pale Tree would survive very long, not simply because the ED would eat it but because when EDs awaken they tend to do so cataclysmic-ally.
I haven’t been having any issues.
Well, Im probably gonna buy them, but wait a few months or so until they are cheaper
Depends on the drop rate. If it’s not too bad those key farmers will probably drive the price down. If we’re talking about another permanent makeover kit here… well then the price will never go down.
Well like all good things cliff hangers need to be used sparingly. Ending a episode on a cliffhanger can potential get people talking, help drum up some excitement for the next episode. However using it every episode does water it down a bit.
I don’t see any other acquisition method for Verata’s Seared Ring besides the bandit crest vendor. I am going to wait till next episode but I doubt we will see it added as a mastery reward..
Yuck, I’m sitting at about 20 gold and trying to buy icy runestones if the dungeons weren’t the worst dungeons in the entire MMO genre I might actually do them but..
Actually the dungeons are… ok-ish I guess. Although at this point players have more or less settled into only doing a handful of dungeons paths, and tend to have a rather horrible attitude…
As for how to get gold. What about tequatl? That’s 2 gold the first time and then 1 gold every time after that until the next day (although there’s only about 4 a day). Might also give triple trouble a go, but I’m not sure the player base has the tactics down yet.
I thought the splashing was because you were running around a mostly dried up lake? Pretty sure that was a lake, and in episode 1 the hylek does elude to the tale of their being a monster that drained a lake. So I just made the connection.
She had to practice the British accent to use if she wanted to gain total villain status. It’s a requirement you know!
Obviously, the first thing that happens when you join nightmare is they give you a pack of cigarettes (for that deep gruff voice) and a copy of My Fair Lady.
Also, Caithe is being stupid. In this game, love appears to make people giant idiots; yes, I am looking at you, Logan.
You mean this game called life.
I suspect the whole point of the memories is witnessing Caithe watching her beloved descend into evil
She seems pretty evil to begin with… I was honestly hoping to see this descend but since Faolin is pretty much mean spirit and overly aggressive from the get go… And clearly already on Cadeyrn side of the debate. I didn’t get the feeling she was descended into evil so much as she was lifting the veil on her evilness.
The hypocrisy is big again here. Who cares if you have to slaughter some centaurs. Over your game time you will kill 100k+ creatures, so what does this small village matter.
Ludo-narrative dissonance?
Considering that we (the characters we play) are not allowed to forgive Canach for his past deeds, and they were much less than this, I have to agree with you.
That’s more an issue with ANet giving us more dialog options… which I think wouldn’t be too hard as most of it is unvoiced text.
Modniirs and Harathis were surely nice centaurs…untill they were deported from their lands by Humans. Considering this, you could consider that their war against Kryta is legitimate and that they are not that bad.
Charr and Centaur alliance! Bring some justice down on those humans and their land grabbing ways!
The battle started when Caithe was talking to the centaur elder, and when she went out Faolain said the centaurs got violent. That’s why Caithe fought them. She didn’t know what happened.
Pretty much this. We don’t know what was going on outside, all we know is that Faolain was being attacked. I think from a narrative perspective Caithe believed that the centaurs struck first since (unlike us players) doesn’t know Faolain is evil and didn’t see what happened.
All I really got out of this episode is that as a sylvari player I should be a lot more mean to asura
I never trusted those imps from the start!
Actually I don’t see Faolain wants to kill her sister.
She wants to know the secret that her sister keeps.
She clearly has some issues with authority and a extreme desire for independence. Granted she’s under the impression that Wynne has a secret mind control weapon hidden somewhere… so that’s a bad combination.
All we really need are a few more dialog options here and there. Since our PCs still don’t have voices giving us a host of responses (even if they do little) would at least create the feel of us having a bit more agency in the story.
IF an expansion is added i really hope they’ll add the rest of the maguuma jungle, add more places far north and even add a new professions with new (or existing for other profs) weapons.
that’s the least i expect from an expansion.
Nah if they’re going expansion they’ll probably give do Cantha or some other area from GW1. That’s what most players seem to asking for the most.
The carapace armor appears to be tied more to the Silverwastes zone than to Living Story season 2.
Who knows, perhaps the season will continue with a new zone after Silverwastes is completed (and a two-week Wintersday break).
After all, Season 2 did not end with Dry Top.
Also remember mawdrey? Still I do kinda feel that we’re getting close to the end of Season 2.
it was probably someones fun spare time project and not a core duty. like sab.
keep employee morale up ya?
Oh and if I remember correctly the wardrobe was also done largely in employees spare time.
As much as I like the griffon, I also recognize that its just another gemshop category now.
Well you could still grind gold… although the inflation rate… man that inflation rate. Still I think ANet needs to balance things out a bit more. You know for every gemstore item add a item available in game? Or even better 2:1!
Yet another wobbly step down the slippery slope. How long until mounts? Or instant level 80s?
I must say when I saw the first thing I though was “mounts TBA”. Of course I’m not one of the ferment mount haters, I’m more on the meh side.
Yep. Exactly what the game needed.
I think so too
Totally. Frivilous and greedy.
Oh you were being sarcastic…

I’m not going to disagree, the end game is grind….. For legendaries, for cosmetics, etc etc
However, I’m going to point out that the endgame for seemingly any mmo (at least any I’ve played) is grind. Take a step back and look at it objectively. Time gating and grind, that’s all it is.
Jip all MMOs have grind. Raid MMOs have you grind the same raid over and over and over. Other MMO might have you grind for money or something. MMOs are built on grind. Unfortunately the rate as which any studio can produce content will never match the rate at which players consume content. Thus grind, time gating, gear requirements, level requirements etc. are all used to stretch out the life span of the content (Raids in my mind still do this the best, since although you’re spending weeks fighting the same raid bosses no one seem all that conscious of the fact that they’re essentially grinding).
You are thinking of different species mating and that can’t happen. Why do I say that? Because there isn’t a single example of it happening in any of the games and there is no lore for it. If it had ever happened it would have been detailed.
Well that and we define species as being unable to reproduce with other species. It’s like how Pluto isn’t a planet, cause we defined it as not being a planet.
Well, duh. That’s what the Toxic Hybrid was!
Didn’t we get an official word on what the Hybrid was? Either it was a krait-shaped plant or a krait that got a lot of poison pumped into him. Although I don’t think it was a true hybrid.
Zhaitan was sadly under used. Still holding that unrealistic hope of us getting a hard mode of Arah where we get to fight him up close.
Take the real world Rock Hyrax for example (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_hyrax). It looks pretty much like a Guinea Pig with kitten y teeth, but it’s actually biologically more like a small elephant, as those are its closest relatives.
Ah dassies, they’re so cute (oh wait they’re big rats XD ). Although I do seem to remember there being an even closer relative somewhere, but as I’m unable to find a link I guess I’ll just assume I’m mis-remembering. Think it was the dugong but meh.
We could also perhaps look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convergent_evolution to explain similarities.
Usually the best way to resolve these sorts of things is through a DNA test. Don’t think the Asura have invented that yet so it’s all still up in the air.
To be fair, that same page says (excluding the “biology” part):
to make a copy, representation, duplicate, or close imitation of:
That’s the kind of reproduction seen here.
Well in the non-biological sense reproduction means essentially to make the same thing (re-again produce-make). Like one would reproduce a work of art, or reproduce a situation. So the term is rather contextual. Also classifying destroyers as the same species is also kinda odd, since I’m pretty sure they’re not biological in any sense that we’d use it. So did it really reproduce?
First, Why is this one of the first RPGs that you removed Elves from the race list?
Well they’ve got Sylvari and they’re basically elves… also what?! Are you complaining that GW2 is not unoriginal enough :P That’s kinda funny.
Well we’ve got cat people, rat people, bird people, snake people, ape people and frog people (just off the top of my head) so we certainly don’t need more animal hybrids. Actually this is not that easy… or maybe I’m not very imaginative :/
Elementals? No already got those. But talking elementals! Nay no idea how the armour would work… and Azhure.1857 beat me to it…
Somehow all I can think of is more human animal hybrids
Just remove those parts of the Personal Story? Those parts of the map? Gaping holes would be better?
I can not support this suggestion.
Sounds like you are being just being argumentative for no reason.
No his being facetious, you’re being argumentative, and OP… I’m not sure… by all accounts it looks like some odd knee jerk reaction (not uncommon on the forums), but given that it’s such a small and insignificant thing I’d have to guess he’s being nit-picky. Probably nothing else to complain about. Scrapping the bottom of the complaint barrel.
Really I’ve got like 6 exotics in the last few days (I guess without actually counting, but still I got a lot). I guess RNG is being all random.
