Firstly, I don’t think writing your title in all caps is a good way to get noticed. Secondly, the mining exploit seems like something that can be just as easily done via guesting so yeah not much of an argument there.
EDIT: reading up on this mining exploit it seems like your post is pretty redundant.
Cost are relative to your level, as if your earning potential. Travel costs only really suck in low level areas where you can’t make as much coin to compensate, but if you’re in level appropriate areas then you won’t go broke.
But then again the entire system is cost/convenience based. And I really don’t have a problem with that, you want convenience you pay.
Well the issue with in world housing has already been raised, their’s too many people and not enough room to do it correctly.
However if people feel so adamant about showing off their homes you could create instanced housing areas where you can cram all the homes into so that people can see them (like Ekevu.9263 and ChyldeMyst.5098 proposed). If people really so feel like it they can walk around and look at other peoples homes. I doubt they would mind you, much in the say way I doubt people would like stumbling upon someone’s house in the middle of nowhere. But at least you’d give people the option.
I think perhaps Guild housing / hall in-world would work better, you have a fixed number of them and Guilds can fight over them (we could call this mini-game guild wars). Of course then again I guess you could also have a fixed number of in world houses, but how exactly they’d exchange hands is unknown (since it would be pretty unfair if one person just owns it forever). Would be a nice status symbol though, everyone else has instances houses / housing areas but a select few have in world houses.
Right, but apart from the hundreds of other threads that are filled with displeasure, simply telling them what to fix and not necessarily what they like. I’m hoping on the off-chance one of them actually reads this and says, “Hey, at least the class was heading in the right direction, now all we need to do is polish it.”
Agreed. This forum has enough complaining (in fact maybe too much complaining) a bit of positivity isn’t going to hurt.
I haven’t had any issues with my necro, but I’m focussing mostly on PvE. But it seems most of the complaints are about necro PvP right?
I would like to make my voice heard as well (actually more people should) and I fully agree with the current philosophy. I wouldn’t mind getting more content of course even GW2 only has so much content after all, but the idea of having this special type of content that is only meant for end-game is not really all that great.
You see the anti-farming thing doesn’t impact your ability to gather materials, it doesn’t impact your ability to do events. All it really does is impact loot drops. I don’t disagree with the idea but I wouldn’t mind being informed of the fact.
Well I agree with the general concept, adding more weapons and thus more variety to the professions would be nice. Not sure how feasible it would be since that seems like alot of work.
My suggestion is to link the travel cost to specific zones not what level you are.
I think what ArenaNet was going for was to subtly push you toward higher level zones where you’re able to make more money to cover your increasing costs.
So overall then a lot of bad stuff happened (elder dragons) a bit of political manoeuvring (the claw). But overall it’s not a easy alliance, if you listen to some of the npc dialogue you’ll noticed that even the none separatists don’t really trust the other side.
I’m pretty sure it’s all just randomly selected.
Charr ate them all. True story.
And they were delicious!
I can’t refute that logic.
The problem is if too many players occure in those events… You have to be kind of lucky to get the attention and any damage from those event mobs/bosses!
Too many players around = Most events are no-brainers
Agreed, ANet nets to tweak the difficulty scaling.
I think the problem isn’t so much mobs packing together and getting dps down, so much as the fact that many events have too many people in them. Thus a mob gets aoe-ed by 10 people while my stubby little char legs can’t get me to the mobs in time to get the arbitrary 1 or 2 blow in in-order to get my share of the xp.
Well my suggestion then.
The reason I did not do a minion build is two fold, minions are rather squishy (well the starting ones in any case), and they don’t have health regen out of combat. Now if ANet wants to keep the squishies squishy that’s fine, but health regen is kind a must as most of my minions have the wonderful ability to all be at almost zero health after a battle meaning they don’t last 5 seconds if I attack another mob.
I do feel that my dual dagger necro seems to lack the ability to take a good beating. Granted I understand the need to dodge and to try and max out toughness, but the current toughness traits seem more focused towards minion/staff necros. The dagger traits (which I obviously selected being a dual dagger necro) do offer health steal but it’s not all that impressive. I guess this means my necro won’t be tanking anytime soon but I’d at least like to be a bit less effective in melee.
Although so far I haven’t been doing a lot of PvP so maybe my experience is a bit lacking.
If you attack or draw your weapons your char goes on 2 legs with his weapons out, that way it might at least be a bit easier to jump if the on all fours thing is a problem for you.
Militant warrior race of hellcats. Enough said.
Honestly I’m not knowledgeable on the topic, but yes since the currency fluctuates you’ll obviously be able to turn profit if you play the market. From what I can tell prices are based on user action (sell a lot of gems and the price drop, buy a lot of gems and the price increases). My guess is however that since most players barely have a few gold the prices are low, but as the population becomes richer gem prices will increase.
I don’t know how they expect to make any money from this because it’s way too easy to get them with gold.
If you think about it there’s a good reason why gems are selling for 20 gold each, everyone is too poor. As the playerbase starts getting richer gems prices are going to go up.
A few days ago I encountered a different problem. Rhendak got stuck behind a wall, unable to attack he could still be attacked. Dropped loot and one of the chests could be looted.
There’s been several patches though so not sure what the present state is.
I think these forums are partial forums until they get the real one up and running, although some how I doubt it since the original GW didn’t have offical ones.
“Let me point out the two biggest changes in the ways we interact with our communities between the original Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 right up front: we will have official forums, and we will not have a traditional fansite program”
http://www.arena.net/blog/choosing-and-transferring-worlds-in-guild-wars-2
Word of God is that server transfers are intended to be limited to 1 per week (although I’m sure there’s a better reference out there somewhere). Presumably they’ve changed it up a bit until server populations stabilise.
or try contacting AVG’s support instead of GW2.
I guess that’s really the crux of the matter, must GW2 support every anti-spyware/virus/firewall that’s on the internet or should security apps be focused on delivering the best least conflicting service.
I’m running it as administrator and for Ncsoft to tell us to disable our firewalls is akin to telling someone who loses their keys to keep their door unlocked. It’s lame and not very professional at all!
Ok to clarify. the Key is the gameplay experience (i.e. what you presently don’t have) and the door is your computer security (which you now need to leave open)? That’s a horrible analogy.
Well only 1 of them is currently the focus of GW2, but I’m pretty sure the rest make a cameo here and there. You can check the wiki for more details: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Elder_dragon
The forums are coming online, slowly but surely. No need to complain just yet.
No real problem with the map myself, would be nice if we had a better idea of where one area ended and another started (some type of outline), but once you’ve explored an area it’s fairly clear what’s what.
If they’d just had the zones separated on the map id be happy. All the zones are instanced its not like they HAD to put them right next to each other like wow did, making the world literaly a few km in size. Instead of having an anbiguously sized world with the few specific important locations you visit being a few km.
Now that you mention it, that would have made the world seem larger, also would have given opportunity for expansion (adding new segments or locations).
I’m on a connection with 900 ping some days of the week and it downloads fine. It takes 40 minutes but it downloads!
Stop complaining about some minor issue, back in my day 40mb would take 16 hours – and that was assuming no-one used the phone during that time..
40 minutes for 40 MB?! o.0
Yes you see some of us live in Africa, sure the politics is fun and the culture is interesting but the internet bandwidth sucks.
Not at present. Look to the bottom left of your character select screen. It’s not going to last forever, but it’s still available, at present, for free.
Free server transfers will last until GW2 population stabilises, we’re still in the pre-launch period where new people are joining and people who weren’t really into the game are leaving so knowing which servers will be high pop and low pop a few weeks down the line can be difficult.
I’m guessing a ferocious, militant race of hellcats and pretty, purple mesmers don’t go well together in most peoples minds.
Well as far as I know they’re slowly but steadily opening new forums (ideally those they’ll add more sub-forums the the forums that have already been added i.e. Guild forum could do with some server specific sub-forums).
I’ll try my best not to be too mean, but lets face it you’re essentially moaning about the game not holding your hand and spoiling you.
Anyway GW2 has been designed that there are multiple viable means of level progression, you can literally hit max level by purely crafting or by pvp. You also need to understand that GW2 does not have Raid, people looking for challenging instance group action can find said action in the dungeons. So yeah dungeons are suppose to be difficult, but then again this isn’t WoW you don’t have to do dungeons to get the best gear or progress your character. You do dungeons for the challenge.
Good gear does make a difference, you won’t be one shotting everything and you still need to watch out for the larger mobs but you’ll find low level areas not as challenging.
Anyway de-leveling is a good mechanism, it stop content from becoming trivial, it ensures that you have a at least partially challenge, and like has previously been noted there are several benefits in terms of friends.
1) Agreed
2) You can buy more slots, but I don’t think they’ll implement storage specifically for crafted items.
3) Agreed, a little check box in the settings somewhere would be fine (although ideally something a bit more user friendly would be best)
you arent even 80..why make such topic, and saying theres no gear to farm or no rewars from pvp, that totally shows the lack of information, looks like more you just bough the game for be able to come and do this post.
and no i wont tell you what i do in my lvl 80.
Your right in not 80. I have a lack of information. Dont tell me what you do with your 80. That’s fine.
I made the topic to see why people are playing. This type of game is new to me (not like wow or other mmo’s I’ve played where gear is everything) not sure why your hating because I asked questions. Everyone except you gave informative answers.
Alas english is a horrible language to convey tone or subtle meaning in a purely text format. He was ‘hating’ because he assumed your tone was hostile.
Thanks for the quick reply! But if the server is full, there is no transfer possible! Will there be more space in the full servers in the coming days?
Well I seems to remember (and in fact read http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_status_updates) ANet promising something along those lines.
The good thing about GW2 model is that you don’t pay monthly so if you get bored then you can put it on the self for a few weeks until you feel like giving it another shot. Or you can wait for the inevitable expansion.
However most likely you can create your own objectives, your own aims.
Well maybe necro’s aren’t for you, luckily you have several other professions you can try out.
Is there anything to do besides completing Hearts and participating in events to gain exp?

Nope, GW2 was designed to not have quest-givers standing around doing nothing. The closest thing GW2 has is the personal story. Personal stories give pretty good xp.
I like it the way it is myself. If they do what you want you’ll get the same issues that WoW has, that is barren and empty low level areas because high level characters find it way too boring being able to one shot everything.
I’m dual dagger and I don’t particularly see it as not being viable. I like to think it’s more a matter personal playing style.
Overflow servers are ArenaNets answer to waiting in line to get on a server when the server is full. It’s a temporary “server” created in the meantime while you wait to get into the server proper. But like ToxicRaiv said you can easily join up with friends who happens to be in a different overflow server.
You’re not limited to what resources you can gather, no matter your profession.
I agreed with the above post. Dungeons are not meant to be easy. If this game handfed players that much, then it would not be as successful and enjoyable as it is right now. I got through my first dungeon on my first try solely through…
1. Team communication before each major battle
2. Splitting roles and prioritizing targets
3. Patience, patience, patience.
I seem to remember ArenaNet implying as much, they lowered the PvE difficulty but since GW2 doesn’t have raid content, the hardcore group content is the dungeons.

I piled toughness onto my necro and thought I was tanky, until a champion spider my level one hit me! lol
Necros are still cloth wearers in the end. I’ve found that dual-daggers, the aoe healing and life stealing tends to get me through some of the tougher fights. Granted I’ve yet to hit max level so for all I know level 80 champion spiders really are scary. But in general with the dodge system the idea is to not get hit, no matter the profession.
In other MMOs I usually go for ranged DPS, but I’ve grown to like my dual-dagger necro (which I actually chose because I though I could go range DPS with). Luckily most classes have a lot of variety in them and you have 5 character slots so nothing wrong with playing around a bit. But like other posted state you can try elemental or guardian, if you don’t like the play style go through the weapon combinations or try something new. Eventually you’ll find something you like.
Yeah, unfortunately I don’t think the events scale up or down based on how many people are there. It would probably be a good idea to add that feature for people stuck in the same situation as yourself, or even to make it more challenging for when there’s a surplus of people.
Yeah I’ve noticed that same thing a few times, now I’m not too concerned with downscaling (luckily I’m in a fairly high pop-server) but it gets kinda annoying when it doesn’t upscale and you’ve got 20 people… Anyway I’m pretty sure there was talk of events scaling though, might be a bug, or balancing issues or maybe ArenaNet hasn’t implemented it yet.
Yeah I’m pretty broke, but if you follow some of the basic tips money does accumulate (al be it somewhat slowly). AH is probably your best bet in the long run, but I’m not sure if prices have fully stabilised yet.
Does anyone else find it odd that sometimes all of the Arena Net people just disappear?
I put in a 11 hour day at the office. I’m posting from home now. Come on, be reasonable, friend!
Um then I guess I’d like to say thank you. I haven’t experience any problems so far
if you go to “My Account” → “Security” you can see the current logins, not sure where you can see the login history since this would probably give you a good idea about if anyone else has been in your account or not.
