PVE: my opinion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

CureForLiving.5360

Can PVE be improved, of course there’s nothing that’s perfect, everything can be tweaked here and there. Although I think (and hope) ANet is fully aware of that fact as well and they’re playing around and see what does and doesn’t work. As players the best we can do is point out specific things that don’t work and things that do work. Saying that dungeons are boring is all find and good, but is there perhaps something you find exciting? Something you’d want to see more of? Or perhaps you have a suggestion to improve it in some way?

Achievement Points

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

There are/were plans (announced back in January) to add additional rewards to achievements and rewards based on total points. Since recent achievements rewards items, maybe that’s as far as they’re going to take it now.

We’re still working on a system that rewards bonuses and rewards for achieving various thresholds of achievement points on your account. More news on this soon!

well, given that most of the time, when Colin give us a soon followed by a " ! " they are sooner than you would expect, im ok with this. Lets hope it is before the end of the year anniversary.

Come on ANet where that spirit of openness we had before launch… and by that I mean I want to know now! :P

"Underflow server" system

in Suggestions

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

I don’t think segregating people onto different servers based on their native language is a good idea, but then I’m a native English speaker so I don’t feel any pressure to seek out people I can talk to. For those who prefer to communicate in a minority language, would it seriously be a problem to share your map chat with a few other languages?

Clearly you’ve never been on a EU overflow, the moment someone brings out the German (usually the German) then it’s all moaning and complaining.

As for the original topic… A underflow system would be nice, I’m 80 and on a fairly high population server so rarely run into this problem, but whenever I go to a low level area is does feel… empty. It’s not as though I need help or anything in low level areas but it is nice to see people doing events running on joining in etc.

An Empty Game?

CureForLiving.5360

GW2 skill system is super uber boring and that is why many people are leaving and I believe some of their staff often post stuff on forums with regular accounts to praise the crap out of their game or dumb down criticism on their game.

So if you don’t like ANet and other people do it’s because they’re ANet sock puppets… Ok then… I’ll just be leaving now… no need to follow me home or anything… you just stay there in the corner mumbling to yourself.

The issue with the Karka Queen is that it doesn’t have a set spawn time like other world bosses. Skin Wardrobe

CureForLiving.5360

This has probably been brought up (Actually I’m sure it has but the search function… oh the unreliable search function).
Anyway I want a skin wardrobe…

Oh people probably want a bit more than that. Ok so I got myself some hologram wings, I wanted to equip it but currently my best item is my Halloween back, which I also like. The hologram wings is a skin so I could overwrite my current back skin but since it was a achievement reward I’d lose it forever and ever.
What I would like is some sort of a wardrobe where I can permanently store different items skins and pick and choice as I like. So I don’t have to be stuck with possibly having to permanently lose a potentially 1 time event reward.
I’m sure other players would also like being able to build up a wardrobe of their favourite skins and change their appearance as the mood strikes them.

Aetherblades has permanent content.

I am not talking about opening new zones, but to have something in the old zones that will give a reminder of the things that happened.

Aetherblade will have new content in old zones.

What is wrong with my suggestion?

I’m guessing people like being argumentative. I guess it’s more exciting then people just agreeing with each other in anycase.

As for your original post, agreed. The issue with the living story currently is that it’s not adding to the world as a whole. Think of the Living world events being a step forward and when the event is done you take a step back to where you where. Sure ANet is adding a few small things with their living story events (like moa racing…) but I don’t feel really like the world is growing in a noticable and meaningful way. I want new content, in a year I want to see a game with a wealth of permanent content not a series of small changes. Now I’m not saying living stories need to be permanent but rather that they should lead into permanent content. Molten alliance story leads into a new dungeon and new world events and mobs etc.

Dragon boss remakes?

in Suggestions

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

The problem with world bosses is how to make them more difficult. Adding health won’t make them difficult, it’ll just make them take longer. Increasing damage might work but the problem is with the size of the grouping doing these bosses would mean that you might start entering one-shot territory. I’d say the best option would be to redesign the bosses, adding more variety by adding a few more phases. The Claw is a bit better then most of the other’s as it has some variety in terms of different phases (mind you it doesn’t make it a great boss).

Grind is a way to increase the longevity of content. If they didn’t implement grind then we’d be able to run through the content in a single day. Mind you I do agree in part, a bit less grind would have been nice (and of course by extension a bit more content wouldn’t hurt either).

Will Southsun ever be fixed?

in Living World

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

I guess now that the events are over everyone’s doing the living world or going about their usual routine. The problem with Southsun, before and after the living story, is that there isn’t a lot of reason to get people there and keep them there for any period. I’m afraid to say but the best mechanism to do so is probably to add some grinding content.

Actually compared to previous living world dragon bash was actually the most no-guide-requiring (flame and frost I wouldn’t have been able to do without a guide). As far as the comment towards story telling, yes it’s not perfect but it seems to be getting better. Cut scenes do help, but I think the biggest problem is that ANet doesn’t make the story easier to get to. Sure if you talk to NPCs, read some of the books etc. but most users don’t know about that these or simply don’t put in the effort and usually those users don’t experience the majority of the story.

The option to change power colors ?

in Suggestions

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

I would like to change the color of my mesmer skills, could add this to the gem store, Arena net does not know how to earn money = p

The only problem is it could make it unfair for sPvP and/or WvW players. Since every class has a different color for skills (Blue is Guardian, Purple is Mesmer, Green is Ranger, Orange is Warrior, etc) it makes it easier to identify which class is which. Changing that would make it unfair in sPvP or WvW because you could “fake” your class. People do it all the time with transmuting the starting armor.

I’m still enjoying pve so I’m not too familiar with wvw and spvp, but I could have sworn that the color of an enemies name is a different color than an allies name, which would keep confusion down and give players a basic idea of what and what not to attack.

Again, this is from a perspective of a player who hasn’t had much experience in wvw and spvp, so don’t take this comment as an attack.

I think he means visually telling the enemy players class so he can counter their attacks and set up an offensive plan.

Generally in wvwvw and pvp, once you are able to identify a persons class you are able to determine a couple scenarios that person is playing. From there, you are able to set up a defensive system and an offensive plan to shut that person down.

Example:
If I am able to identify a person to be a thief, as a ranger I know I need to plan for close quarter combat, so I would be switching to my Great Sword, and If i had time drop a skill for a trap. From there I can work on shutting him down and try to push the theif back to where I can switch to my bow and widdle him away till hes dead.

Ahhh okay, makes sense.

Granted in the more zerg-rush-prone WvW it probably wouldn’t matter a whole lot but in S-PvP it’s definitely a big game changer.

Living World => different on each server?

in Living World

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

There are currently 51 worlds, I don’t think there is any developer with the financial or human resources to be making content for 51 games at once.

Not necessarily, it’s as long as a Living Story arch has a finite number of options it’s possible, the problem only comes when you try to build on previous content, if say the first arch had 3 endings, then for the next one you completely separate it from the previous content and say give it 2 ending, or you build on the previous content potentially having to create multiple endings for each of the previous endings. And so on and so on.

I was wondering where the frost was in Flame and Frost (i.e. the Molten Alliance is clearly bringing the flame but no one’s bringg the frost), but if it refers to Rox and Braham that makes more sense and I can definitely see how they could be the making of a new generation.

Well you could include forts / castles / towers and what not in the game world and have guild fighting over them. Each one providing some boon even if only a title, say for example a guild wins a few forts around the Black Citadel and then members of the guild get some title or another: “Keepers of the Citadel” (or hopefully something better than that) and perhaps access to special armour skins, for as long as they can keep onto it.

Well this is possibly a way to introduce world PvP, but the thing then becomes why would you want to become hostile with another guild other than to be hostile with another guild. WAIT GUYS

Before you continue saying the words “boring”, “easy” and so forth, I would like to point out that GW2’s difficulty is out-of-wack right now. For example, making the dragons do instant kills may not provide the challenge you guys seek, what the dragons really need is more moves, animations, different attacks, a larger health pool, and a system that works like overflow, where only about 30 or so people can fight a dragon in an instance.

If you guys want more difficulty, at least give some explanation as to how that can be accomplished, because when the players request more difficulty, Anet devs go and make it like AC dungeon, where a single tiny spider can kill you with one attack. Please be wise as to what you all request from anet.
